Turkey Tours & Cruise Packages 2024, 2025

Prepare yourself for a journey to the lands of ancient treasures and Christian history. Join others in fulfilling the dream of walking where the apostles walked. Each of our Turkey tours is led by a local guide who is an expert on the historical, cultural, scenic, and spiritual history of this ancient country. Imagine walking through the lands of the Churches of Revelation with visits to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. Some packages include touring of Cappadocia, Konya, Istanbul, Troy, and Izmir (among other locations). If you’re looking to take a longer journey, and an Aegean cruise, consider continuing on to Greece on one of our Footsteps of Paul and John tours.

Below is a list of various Turkey tour packages departing year-round.

Reserve your tour at least 6 months in advance for an early booking discount, groups and parties of 6 or more click here for special rates, scheduled 2024 & 2025 turkey tours/cruises, group options, featured sites in turkey.

These are a few of the sites you can visit in Turkey, depending on the tour chosen:

Ephesus is clearly the crown jewel of the 7 Churches of Revelation . Ephesus was once a bustling port town, and you can still see the beautiful remains of that town today. During your visit to Ephesus, you can check out the library, the theater, and the ancient port. You’ll also have a chance to visit the Basilica Church of St. John. With ancient architecture and a wealth of Christian history, Ephesus is one of the most popular visits on our Turkey tours.

Smyrna — or Izmir — is another one of the 7 Churches of Revelation. As the third-largest city in Turkey, there’s a lot to do and see. While visiting Izmir, you’ll enjoy a visit to the Church of Polycarp and the ancient Agora. Izmir is normally the first city your tour will visit for many of our Turkey and Greece tour options.

Pergamum is where the first executions of Christians by Rome took place. We offer several Turkey tour packages that give you a chance to visit this ancient Greek city. During your visit to Pergamum, you’ll see the Acropolis, the Royal Gates, and the ruins of the Library of Pergamum. We’ll also take a look at the foundations of the Altar of Zeus, which was built in the 2nd century BC.

Thyatira used to be a busy trading post where wool workers, dyers, leather workers, and potters would come to sell and trade goods. This ancient city has also gone by two other names throughout its history: Pelopia and Semiramis. Thyatira may have been one of the cities the Apostle Paul visited during his second or third journey. A storied history and several Christian landmarks make Thyatira a popular destination during your Biblical tour of Turkey.

While Thyatira was home to many dyers and wool workers, Sardis is where the practice of dying wool began. While you’re in Sardis, you can visit the gymnasium and synagogue to get a better feel for the city and what it might have been like thousands of years ago. As one of the 7 Churches of Revelation, Sardis is an essential place to see during our Christian fellowship tours .

Philadelphia

After you’re finished seeing Sardis, you can take a trip to nearby Philadelphia to see the remains of this once-great city. Philadelphia was conquered by the Ottomans in 1390, so there isn’t a whole lot left to see in this ancient city. Still, Philadelphia is a revered historical Christian location because it played an important role in the Book of Revelation. Today, the ancient wall and the remains of a Byzantine basilica are all that remain.

Another ancient city that’s been reduced to ruins, Laodicea is the last of the 7 Churches of Revelation. Today, the city is home to a long stretch of ruins, giving you a look into the past of an ancient civilization. Among the ruins are the remains of an ancient stadium and an older but surprisingly sophisticated water system. The historical significance of Laodicea makes it a popular destination during our tours in Israel , Turkey, and Greece.

U.S. citizens need a valid passport with at least six months validity beyond intended stay for entrance into Turkey. Make two photocopies of your passport. Please check the Turkey entry requirements 1 month before departure.

What currency is used in Turkey?

The currency in Turkey is the Turkey Lira and Euro. Check www.xe.com for the most recent exchange rate.

Should I bring cash on my tour to Turkey?

We suggest that you bring $25 per day in US cash to cover your out of pocket expenses each day. You may also choose to exchange a small amount of currency at a US bank before you leave, however, you may do so upon arrival at the airport. Your escort will be able to show you the best place to exchange money upon your arrival. ATM machines are available in the major cities. However, in smaller towns, ATM cards, traveler’s checks and credit cards may not be accepted. Please be advised that the ATM machines in Turkey dispense TURKEY LIRA and EURO. What time zone is Turkey in?

Turkey is seven hours ahead of EST and two hours ahead of GMT.

What is the climate in Turkey?

Prior to departure, check the 10-day forecast on www.weather.com . The climate in Turkey varies based on your proximity to the ocean, with inland areas being colder. While Turkey has cooler summers than other Mediterranean countries, its summers are on the warm side compared to other oceanic climates. The weather is mostly mild with temperatures that aren’t too cold during the winter or too hot during the summer.

When is the best time to book a tour to Turkey?

You can visit Turkey or take a tour of Jordan and Israel during any time of the year — but weather is one of several factors to consider. You might want to avoid visiting Turkey during certain months when the weather is exceptionally hot or cold. For ideal weather, you should visit sometime from April -June or from September -October. If you like cooler/moderate temperatures, we recommend visiting in February-March or November. Keep in mind that Turkey — like many countries — is busier during certain parts of the year. If you want to avoid large crowds, you can book one of our Turkey tours during the offseason. No matter when you decide to book your tour, we offer tours to Turkey that fit your schedule. You can check out some of our Turkey tour packages to learn more about our tours and save money by booking your tour early.

What is the Churches of Revelation?

The Seven Churches of Revelation are seven important churches in the times of Early Christianity. These churches — Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea — are also called the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse or the Seven Churches of Asia. As home to early Christian civilizations, these cities played an essential role in the Book of Revelation and the early history of Christianity. Taking a Israel 10-day tour or a tour of the Seven Churches of Revelation allows you to experience Christian history firsthand.

Discover two fascinating destinations in the eastern Mediterranean on one of our cruises to Greece and Turkey, where you’ll be able to explore ancient ruins, taste delectable local cuisine, relax on blissful beaches, and learn all about some of the world’s most fascinating civilizations.

Admire Santorini’s sugar-cube houses and blue-domed churches scattered across the dramatic cliffs of an ancient caldera. Explore the bougainvillea-filled alleys and chic boutiques of Mykonos Town before heading to the beach. In Rhodes, you’ll see magnificent mansions built by the medieval Knights of St. John, while Kusadasi, in Turkey, is the gateway to the antiquities of Ephesus, as well as a great place for shopping in the bazaar. Istanbul, meanwhile, is rich in treasures, from elaborate mosques to the lavish Topkapi Palace, as well as a culinary scene that invites exploration.

Itineraries

Featured ports of call.

Discover Santorini, a semicircle of sheer, red-and-black cliffs rising out of the glittering Aegean Sea. Visit the archaeological site of Akrotiri to learn about the Minoans, who were driven from the island in 1600 B.C. by a cataclysmic volcanic eruption. Shop for jewelry inspired by designs from ancient Greece in pretty Fira, the whitewashed capital, and join a tour to Oia, on the northern tip, where you can dine on organic mezze and island wines with sweeping views across the caldera.

Ephesus is one of the world’s best-preserved Greco-Roman cities, where an ongoing archaeological dig reveals layers of history. Mary, mother of Jesus, and early Christians St. Paul and St. John all came here, and you can visit Mary’s house and St. John’s tomb. Marvel at the colonnaded facade of the Library of Celsus, the magnificent Amphitheater, Roman baths, and elaborate mosaics as you stroll the ancient streets.

Explore the fascinating neighborhoods of multicultural Melbourne, from cool, edgy Brunswick to upscale Brighton and Victorian Kew. Explore by tram, or head out into the Yarra Valley to sample the region’s finest wines. Visit the National Gallery of Victoria, take a tour of the laneways to see dazzling street art, and sip a flat white in one of the city’s famous coffee shops. For magnificent scenery, drive along the Great Ocean Road to see the dramatic limestone stacks of the Twelve Apostles.

What is a Gulet?

A Gulet is a traditional Turkish wooden sailing yacht that is designed explicitly for cruising along the beautiful Turkish coast. These vessels are known for their elegant design, spacious interiors, and comfortable accommodations. Gulets typically range in size from 15 to 40 meters and can accommodate anywhere from 6 to 20 passengers.

Gulets are built with a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern amenities, offering a perfect blend of authenticity and comfort. Each Gulet is unique in terms of design and layout. Still, they generally feature cosy cabins with en-suite bathrooms, a spacious deck for sunbathing and dining, and a fully equipped kitchen where the onboard chef prepares delicious meals.

The beauty of a gulet lies in its ability to provide an intimate and personalized cruising experience. Unlike larger cruise ships, gulets can access smaller and more secluded bays and coves, allowing passengers to explore hidden gems inaccessible to other vessels. With their friendly and experienced crew, gulets offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making you feel at home throughout your journey.

Tips for a memorable Gulet cruise experience

To make the most of your gulet cruise experience, here are some tips to keep in mind:

1. Pack wisely: Pack light and bring comfortable clothing, swimwear, sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. Remember to bring a beach towel and any personal items you may need.

2. Stay hydrated: It’s important to stay hydrated during your cruise, especially when spending time under the sun. Bring a reusable water bottle and refill it regularly to ensure you stay hydrated throughout your journey.

3. Be prepared for the weather: The weather in Turkey can vary depending on the season. Check the forecast before your trip and pack accordingly. Bring a light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings and a waterproof jacket in case of rain.

4. Bring cash: While most Gulet cruises include meals and some activities, it’s a good idea to bring some cash for additional expenses, such as drinks, souvenirs, and tips for the crew.

5. Disconnect and enjoy: Take this opportunity to disconnect from the digital world and fully immerse yourself in the experience. Put your phone away, enjoy the stunning views, and engage with your fellow passengers and crew members. This is your chance to relax and unwind truly.

By following these tips, you’ll ensure that your gulet cruise experience is memorable and enjoyable. Embrace the unique atmosphere, soak up the beauty of the Turkish coast, and create lasting memories that you’ll cherish for years to come.
