2. Difference from the Trolley Service

The double decker tours are different from the trolley service operated in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, which is simply a means of transit. When you want to take the Pigeon Forge Fun Time Trolley to Gatlinburg, you must transfer at the Gatlinburg Welcome Center located on the Spur/Highway 441 between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The double decker tours are much more convenient because they make one continuous loop from Sevierville to Gatlinburg with no transfer required!

The double decker bus tours of the Smoky Mountains start at 10 a.m. on all operating days, which vary throughout the year. Be sure to check the official operating schedule when planning your vacation to make sure the bus is operating! There are 2 double decker buses in operation now and a third bus arriving in the next few months. Once you have hopped off the bus to explore an attraction, simply wait for the next bus to come along to continue your tour!

Look out, there’s a new attraction in the Smokies . . . and it’s MOBILE!  This all-new attraction, complete with tour guides, is the ultimate way to get around in Sevierville, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Experience the Smokies in a whole new way with Double Decker Bus Tours .

What exactly is this new attraction?

It is an authentic double-decker bus, straight from the UK. To keep with the authenticity of the European two-story bus, your driver is located on the right side of the bus! How cool is that?

There are 2 buses in transit, with the addition of 3 more by the Spring of 2020. There are currently 14 stops (which are listed below). More stops will be added soon.

How does this differ from the current trolley system?

Double Decker Bus Tours makes one continuous loop from Sevierville to Gatlinburg.

In the Spring of 2020, specialty tours such as Cades Cove, Moonshine and Wine, Harrahs Cherokee Casino and more will be added to the schedule.

Stop Locations

Both Double Decker Bus will depart from a temporary office at Red Roof Mall at 10 am.  Bus #1’s first stop is Tanger Outlets. Bus #2’s first stop is Ober Gatlinburg.

About the Double Decker Bus Tours

Double Decker Bus Route

The Double Decker Bus Tours start in Sevierville and make stops in both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, so you’ll be able to sit back and relax and just enjoy the sights all around you! Here are the stops you can expect to make on the tour:

1. Apple Barn 2. WonderWorks 3. The Incredible Christmas Place 4. Lumberjack Square

The bus then heads to Gatlinburg, where it enters on the Parkway, turns right on River Road, and heads to the intersection of River Road and Leconte Street for the first stop in Gatlinburg.

After Rowdy Bear Gatlinburg, the bus will head back to Pigeon Forge.

Double Decker Bus Tours teamed up with Hard Rock Cafe to create the ultimate party experience in the Smoky Mountains! For the Party Bus Tour, you’ll hop on a 2-story, open-air bus that has seating for up to 40 people! It also has a premium sound system, a host and more. Bring your own drinks, and the party bus will have the rest! This tour departs from the Hard Rock Cafe in Pigeon Forge and takes you up and down the Parkway. The bus isn’t just for adults, however. Soon, the party bus will be hosting everything from church youth parties to children’s birthday parties.

Sevier Distillery Tour

Hop on the double decker bus and take a ride to Sevier Distillery. This tour includes a mixology class where you’ll get to make mixed drinks using the distillery’s brands — and you’ll get to drink them! You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes tour of the distillery, and if they’re making a product while you’re there, you’ll get to taste it coming from the distilling vats! This tour lasts about 1.5 – 2.5 hours and is only for those 21 and older.

Smoky Mountains VIP Highlight Tour

See the best of the Smokies along this double decker bus tour! This is the most unique tour in the Smoky Mountains, going to Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, Newfound Gap, Clingmans Dome, the Mountain Farm Museum and Mingus Mill, Oconaluftee Indian Village, Museum of the Cherokee Indian, Mingo Falls and Soco Falls. Because of all the stops, this is an all-day tour. It lasts 8 to 9 hours and includes lunch and tickets to the museum!

Open Air Double Decker

The ultimate Gettysburg battlefield bus tour experience puts you on our famous double decker bus with a professional licensed battlefield guide. Relive the Battle of Gettysburg as told by the most knowledgeable historic storytellers in the area (offered seasonally April through mid-October).

While all of our Gettysburg tour guides cover all three days of the Battle of Gettysburg, each guide tells their stories a bit differently during your open air double decker bus tour. This means the specific bus route taken can vary depending on who you are matched with during your tour. Your tour will feature at least one scenic stop as well as a restroom stop.

Bus tours last approximately two hours and depart from 777 Baltimore Street, Gettysburg, which is near the Gettysburg National Cemetery. Be sure to park across the street as parking is free! Tours can and do sell out, so we strongly encourage you to book ahead of time if your are planning a weekend tour, especially during holiday weekends and in the summer months.

• Lower level is not air conditioned, but provides large open windows. 
• No rain refunds, ponchos are provided for light rain. 
• If heavy rain or severe weather is predicted the tour will run on an enclosed bus.

Yes, we provide everyone a set of earbuds upon boarding the bus which allows you to clearly hear our licensed Gettysburg battlefield guides. If you have difficulties hearing, please let our host/hostess know and they will provide a seat of earphones.

Can we choose top or bottom seats on the double decker bus?

You sure can! When booking your Gettysburg double decker bus tour through our website, you can specify top or bottom on the reservation page. If ordering by phone, you can let our team know your selection at that time. Top seats are $1 more per person.

Do we get off the bus during our tour? Is there a restroom stop?

Our open air double decker bus tours feature a restroom/refreshment stop and at least one scenic stop.

What happens if it rains the day of our double decker tour?

For light rain, we can provide ponchos. If there is room, we can move people downstairs to the more enclosed portion of the bus. For heavy rain or severe weather, we’ll run our tour on an enclosed bus.

Can we switch to the bottom of the double decker bus if we get too hot?

Gettysburg can get quite hot depending what time of year you visit us. If you book a seat on top of the famous double decker, and would prefer to move downstairs to escape the heat, please alert our driver or host. As long as there is room, they will accommodate you with a seat in the bottom portion of the tour bus.

Are drinks and snacks allowed on the bus?
