The Kid Laroi’s Australian Tour: Everything You Need to Know

After a lengthy wait, The Kid Laroi finally revealed to his fans last month when his rescheduled Australian tour would take place. 

The Sydney-born hip-hop star will tour around Australia this November, after having to postpone his February tour dates due to logistical issues. The wait was worth it in the end for Laroi, with two new dates in Brisbane and Hobart added to meet demand. 

Ahead of Laroi’s rescheduled Australian tour, which will be his first headline tour of his home country since 2022, we’ve compiled all the important information you need to know.

A number of different ticket packages are available for the big Laroi fan in your life, including the pre-show soundcheck party (access to Laroi’s pre-show soundcheck, 1x GA floor ticket), VIP merch not for sale to the general public) and the premium fan package, early entry and reserved seat.

Support Acts

Talk about your superstar support acts. Laroi will be joined by Migos member Quavo on his Australian tour, Migos might be no more, with the popular Atlanta hip-hop group coming to an end in 2023 following the tragic death of Offset, but Quavo packs lots of power as a solo artist. 

His debut solo album, Quavo Huncho , was a top two hit in the US in 2018, while he’s also featured as a guest artist on some big collaborations, like his 2017 Post Malone collaboration “Congratulations.”

Adding local flavour to the CommBank Arena Stadium show will be Western Sydney icons ONEFOUR. The rap collective have previous with Laroi, so they should dovetail well with the Kamilaroi artist. ONEFOUR will also head to the Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Melbourne shows, eager to prove why Western Sydney hip-hop has such a massive reputation.  

Why Laroi’s Touring

Laroi is touring to celebrate his debut album, The First Time , which dropped after much anticipation at the end of 2023. Laroi’s debut was a top three hit in Australia, and it also made it into the top 40 on the US Billboard 200. Europeans also took to The First Time , with the album charting well in Denmark, Norway, and Ireland. 

Fans can expect to hear hits from The First Time , but they can also expect to hear his latest single “Girls,” which many people claimed to be the ‘Song of the Summer’ in competition with artists like Sabrina Carpenter.

Yeah, that’s right. Concerts are coming back in full-force, and you better believe hip hop is a major part of that as big-ticket internationals make their way down under for events like Splendour in the Grass and VIVID Sydney.

We know heads have been waiting to get down to some of their old and new favourites, from Tyler, the Creator and Stormzy to Jack Harlow and Maxo Kream. These are the hip hop concerts you’re going to need to snatch up remaining tickets for you if you really want to get loose for live music this year.

Tyler, The Creator

Is there any rapper as emblematic of hip hop’s changing trends as Tyler, the Creator? The mischief-maker who arrived on the scene as the headline act of Odd Future has shown a ridiculous level of growth as an artist over the years. Just listen to “Goblin” and a song like “Wasyaname” back-to-back and try deny Tyler his incredible evolution, both sonically and as a rapper. With his latest album Call Me If You Get Lost delivering more than a few bangers like “Corso” and “Lemonhead,” you’d have to be a fool to miss Tyler’s Splendour set or his sideshows.

Jack Harlow

Sample a song that’s pretty much peak nostalgia for gen z’s Instagram set? Genius. Jack Harlow has one of the biggest songs in the world right now with the Fergie-sampling “First Class”. But this Kentucky boy is much more than one-trick pony. Master of the glow-up, from low-key bangers like “Sundown,” with a beat that sounds like Neptunes circa 2000, and mega-hits like “What’s Poppin,” the Kentucky rapper will be looking to stamp his rising star on Australia when he heads down under for Splendour in the Grass and its numerous sideshows.

Sampa the Great

It’s not all about the international acts when it comes to hip hop tours in Australia for 2022. Sampa the Great has had a tremendous past few years, coated with plenty of critical acclaim. The award-winning artist’s most important show of the year will be for Sydneysiders, closing out May at the Sydney Opera House with a headline spot at VIVID Live, presenting special show “An Afro Future.”

Maxo Kream may have been a surprising inclusion on the Splendour in the Grass line-up, but the forward-thinking Houston rapper may just prove to be the MVP for hip hop fans thirsting for a head-nodding concert this year. While live music makes a crawl back to normalcy, Kream will be ripping up the stage with his latest album Weight of the World at Splendour and major headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

While Tyler and Jack Harlow have it locked for mid-year, the biggest hip hop concert of 2022 will undoubtedly be the long-awaited arrival of UK beast Stormzy. Bringing his Heavy is the Head tour, which was supposed to happen in 2020, down under, the Brit emcee will be performing shows across Australia and will undoubtedly be making up for lost time. Track like “Wiley Flow” and “Vossi Bop” are hype enough when you’re listening to them at 2 am in your bed, so imagine what it’s going to be like when an entire capacity crowd turns up when the beat drops and the heavy-impact of Stormzy’s grimey flow hits.

The Roots (USA) Hip hop royalty announce Australian tour, kicking off New Years Day 2025 + special guests Talib Kweli (USA) & Nai Palm (AU)

MG Live and Frontier Touring proudly announce Grammy award-winning hip-hop visionaries The Roots east coast tour for January 2025 – the band’s first Australian headline tour in 12 years! Joining The Roots at all shows as special guests will be US legendary Brooklyn based MC Talib Kweli and three-time Grammy nominated songwriter from Melbourne, Nai Palm.

The Roots were co-founded by childhood friends Black Thought and Questlove  in 1987 with their passionate and innovative approach to hip-hop playing underground gigs in Philadelphia, New York and across Europe. About Talib Kweli The Brooklyn-based MC earned his stripes as one of the most lyrically-gifted, socially aware and politically insightful rappers to emerge in the last 20 years. 

“I’m a touring artist. I’m an artist that’s internationally known. I’m not just a local artist at this point in my career. I’m cognizant of the fact that what I do is beyond where it started. I’m trying to reach the apex of where I am now, but without turning my back on or dismissing what I’ve done before.” 

After nearly 20 years of releasing mesmerizing music, Talib Kweli stands as one of the world’s most talented and most accomplished Hip Hop artists. About Nai Palm Nai Palm is the kind of artist that arrives once in a generation.  A three-time Grammy nominated songwriter from Melbourne. She is a composer, instrumentalist, producer, vocalist and poet who approaches these self-taught disciplines with an intuitive, infectious grace, which has sent her on a journey to sculpt songs that have been received and treasured across the world. 

It is a world she has travelled many times over with her band Hiatus Kaiyote who, along with Nai Palm, have become household names since they first began playing together in Melbourne in 2011.  Hiatus Kaiyote broke internationally in 2012 with their first LP, Tawk Tomahawk, which was praised by simpatico musical travellers from Erykah Badu to Questlove to Prince and embraced by DJs like the BBC’s Gilles Peterson and DJ Jazzy Jeff.  Their first R&B Grammy nomination, for their song ‘ Nakamarra ’, was followed by a second for ‘ Breathing Underwater ’ and third with their ‘ Mood Valiant ’ album.
