Leon Bridges (born July 13, 1989) is an American rhythm and blues, gospel and soul singer with a sound beyond his years reminiscent of ’60’s Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, however raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Bridges initially picked up the guitar as a vehicle for his songwriting. Whilst working as a dishwasher in a local venue, the singer would regularly perform at open-mic events around Fort Worth, noted for his retro style and silky-smooth vocals. With a rapidly growing reputation, Bridges met White Denim guitarist Austin Jenkins in early 2014, who subsequently watched Bridge perform a show in north Texas. With little time wasted, Bridges, Jenkins and White Denim drummer, Joshua Block, began recording and producing the soul singer’s early songs using old, authentic equipment.

In late 2014 Bridges released a pair of demo tracks, “Coming Home” and “Lisa Sawyer”, to his Soundcloud page, which earned significant international radio play. Following which the singer inked a deal with Columbia Records in December 2014, as well as embarking on his first national tour in early 2015. His track “Coming Home” was officially released in February 2015 earning widespread critical acclaim and going viral within the same month.

Bridges subsequently toured in support of Sharon Van Etten in New York and performed a number of shows alongside Jenkins and Block before they returned to their responsibilities with White Denim. In June 2015, Bridges released his debut studio album “Coming Home”, garnering both positive and nostalgic reviews from the critical press. Charting at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, No. 8 on the UK Albums Chart, and No. 8 in Australia, the record catapulted Bridges to international success, aided by a extensive promotional campaign by Columbia Records.

Leon Bridges' Good Thing show at ACL Moody Theater in Austin, Texas was the for real BEST THING I've seen in a long time! (and I am not prone to hyperbole) He led the audience through quiet stories like "Georgia to Texas" and magical love stories like "Beyond" and sexy times like "Mrs." Also, his smooth moves stirred up things, and got the sold-out crowd on its feet for "Bad Bad News" and " Smooth Sailin." He brought new band members, a new fashion style, and new jazzy sounds to his live show; however, he also gave his faithful fans the songs we know by heart from Coming Home - "Better Man" and "Lisa Sawyer." We could especially feel the Leon Bridges love during the stop-the-show greatness of his encore performance of "The River" with Brittni Jessie! Folks were still groovin to "Mississippi Kisses" even as they exited the theater. Merci beaucoup to LEON BRIDGES and all of his team!

WOW!!!!! Leon Bridges kept the audience engaged, and everyone was into it! If you miss this artist, I feel sorry for you. The energy is wonderful...everyone who goes WANTS to be there and to support live music. Beautiful back up vocals by Brittni Jessie. I don't really know how to describe the experience except to say that young, old, all races and sizes were here. When Mr. Bridges asked everyone to hug the person next to them and say "I love you" AND we did just that,I was hoping he would run for president. lol!

Fantastic show, three song encore. Great musician with him. and amazing opening set by Lianne La Havas. Think about this...when was the last time you went to a show and everyone was in their seats for the OPENING ACT? An amazing talent with a beautiful voice and great original songs.

No wonder Leon's shows are selling out. he's GREAT!

Short and sweet today which sums up Leon and Bridges. Bridges is the new kid on the block when it comes to sixties soul. His diminutive frame hides a powerful voice reminiscent of Sam Cooke.

Surrounded by a tight older band and an amazing backing singer Bridges rattles through his debut album and a few covers in a little over 75 minutes. The 3 minute pop songs segue into each other and it’s all over in a blink of the eye.

It’s a polished slick show with the standard between song banter which lets it down a little as ironically it does lack a little genuine soul and feeling. There’s a handful of very good songs on the album and it will be interesting to see how this clear talent develops over the next album or two.

On the whole a good night and certainly one for the future

I started following Leon online in London in 2015 and couldn't get enough of his soulful modern take on a genre of music that seems to have been forgotten. It's like he's breathed life into dusty old vinyls and has been transported from the 1930's (through 40's, 50's and 60's) Leon takes elements from all of these eras and gives them a unique charm all his own. His crowd banter and relationship with his band was warm and genuine and his vocals were impeccable. I would have liked to have seen him play guitar in a few more songs but he played so many songs that we were not left for wanting.

I was looking forward to hearing Leon Bridges live. I really enjoyed his CD.

It's too bad that I sat beside two semi-alcoholics who had to get up several times to either buy more beer or use the bathroom. And in front of two wankers who either sang along (not so bad) or yelled their conversation though the songs they didn't know the words to.

I had a great seat to see the show, but when everyone stood up, I couldn't see anything but people's backs.

What I did see (during the times that people were seated) and heard was great!

Concert experience: 2/10

It was his first show of the year and it showed. His vocals were noticably off (went flat a shocking number of times) and he was also less than emotionally intense. I'd attribute a lot of this to working-out-the-new-set kinks and that Municipal Auditorium has terrible acoustics. I'd like to give him another chance later in the tour. But I have a feeling that his Houston Rodeo show tonight is not going to go well. It's a big room, he hasn't sold many tickets and he's not quite ready yet. I hope I'm wrong.

Overcrowded. Went with my girlfriend who ended up panicking because of the amount of people. To us it was far too crowded. I’ve been to festivals where it was similar. Just seemed unsafe in the O2 Academy. We ended up leaving to the entrance and just listened from there. It seems like many others were the same, leaving to get some space. It’s a shame since it ruined it for us because the music sounded amazing. I’m just a bit skeptical and think more tickets were sold than the venue could handle.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I had heard one or two of Leon's songs before the show and loved them. But it didn't prepare me for the full onslaught of his energy on stage and his music getting the crowd fan I g in the aisles. The Hippodrome in Baltimore added to the feeling of witnessing the rebirth of the Motown sound with a modem twist. I can't wait to see him again when he passes through town.

I highly recommend everyone to catch one if the hottest young acts before he rises to playing much larger venues.

Very handsome, beautiful, soulful voice, Great energy and funky dance moves. He should be thankful to have an extremely talented band and backup vocalist, but i absolutely loved the saxophinist. Wish the set was longer. Would have been nice to hear a few covers but I understand he wants to build his own identity/brand. Love, love, love the venue and the dance party right after. Great crowd, everyone acted like they had sense.

I wouldn't go to see him again. His music and performance style suits smaller intimate venue. He didn't really connect with the crowd unfortunately and the sound wasn't great. His dancing and vocals were incredible though but he was more interested in the band then the audience. We cam out in the rain and travelled from the highlands of scotland to be blown away ...but it was too polished.

Leon Bridges announces North American tour for autumn 2024

The dates are in support of the musician's upcoming fourth studio album 'Leon'

Leon Bridges has announced a North American tour to take pace this autumn, in support of his upcoming album ‘Leon’ – see all the dates below.

Earlier this month, Bridges announced details of his fourth studio album , and shared the record’s sun-drenched lead single ‘Peaceful Place’, which you can listen to below.

The album is due to come out on October 4 via Columbia and you can pre-order/pre-save it here .

Now, he has shared information of a North American tour for October and November, which kicks off on October 4 at Austin City Limits Festival and concludes on November 17 at Mexico City’s Corona Capital. Support at the majority of dates will come from Hermanos Gutiérrez.

Tickets go on sale at 10am local time on Tuesday (August 20), and you can get yours here .

“I wanted to bring the magic and connection that made this record to this tour, so I felt it was important to pick the right rooms to play,” Bridges has said. “I’ll be performing at intimate theaters this run with my incredible band. These are listening rooms—beautiful stages that truly showcase the music and allow me to get back to analog instrumentation.”

Speaking about the new album, Bridges has said: “’Leon’ has been a long-time coming. I started writing pieces of it as far back as Gold-Diggers Sound. They didn’t fit what I was trying to do with that album and I tried moving on. But I couldn’t shake them because they’re part of me. And, if I’m honest, also because I think this is some of my most excellent work yet.”

“In many ways, ‘Leon’ has been in the works since my childhood. This record is about simpler days. It’s about time spent in my beloved Fort Worth and the experiences that made me the man I am today. It’s soulful music in the truest sense – it’s imbued with my soul.”

The new project follows his third album ‘Gold-Diggers Sound’ which came out in 2021.  NME  gave the album four stars , commending its “new, vibrant, almost luminous aesthetic”.

In recent years, Bridges has been  making music  with  Khruangbin,  including two EPs titled ‘Texas Sun’ and ‘Texas Moon’.

Last month, Bridges’ track ‘Chrome Cowgirl’ was  featured on the soundtrack  for the new tornado-chasing blockbuster  Twisters  – which features  Glen Powell  and  Daisy Edgar-Jones .

Grammy-winning songsmith Leon Bridges has announced a fall 2024 tour across North America supporting his next album 'Leon' . The 21-date outing takes place in October/November visiting big cities like Santa Barbara, Chicago, Toronto, New York, Washington DC, Atlanta, Nashville and his hometown of Fort Worth. Joining the tour in support will be special guests Hermanos Gutiérrez . Prior to the tour, the singer will be making an appearance at Austin City Limits Festival.

Bridges will be releasing his fourth studio album 'Leon' on October 4th, 2024 via Columbia Records. Leon Bridges Announces The Boundless Tour With Little Dragon As Support

Leon Bridges , who just graced the most recent Uproxx cover story with Khruangbin ahead of the release of their Texas Moon EP , it embarking on his biggest tour yet. The Boundless Tour represents Bridges’ first headlining tour of amphitheaters and arenas and he’s making US stops from coast to coast.

Little Dragon will be supporting Bridges on the newly announced summer tour which begins on July 29th in Las Vegas and concludes on September 8th in Santa Barbara. These dates come in addition to already announced Europe and US tour dates for Bridges in April and May .

Leon Bridges announced  The Leon Tour  with special guests  Charley Crockett and Hermanos Gutierrez.  His self titled album,  Leon,  will be available on all streaming platforms on October 4th, which also happens to be the first day of tour. Leon Bridges 2024 tour: Presale, dates, venues & all you need to know

T he Grammy-winning singer, Leon Bridges, hits the road this fall for a headlining outing called - The Leon Tour. He took to Instagram this Friday, August 16, and revealed the dates for the upcoming tour that begins on October 4.

The Leon Tour will support the singer's self-titled album, Leon , set for a release this fall, on October 4. The outing extends over three weeks and covers concerts in over 15 North American cities and at least two shows in Canada.

Tickets to the much-awaited tour are available through an artist presale that begins at 10 a.m. PDT this Tuesday, Aug 20. The official platinum tickets will also go on presale at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. People interested in attending the tour can sign up on Leon Bridges' website, theleontour.com, to get access to the presale.

A partner presale from Spotify begins at 10 a.m. PDT on Thursday, August 22. Tickets for Leon's tour will be available to the general public through an open sale starting at 10 a.m. PDT on Friday, August 23. Those interested can reserve their seats by booking them through the singer's website or Ticketmaster.com.

Leon Bridges' North American tour dates, venues, and more

Leon Bridges will begin his first headlining tour in over six years at Austin's ACL Music Festival. He will kick-start the tour on the festival's opening day and perform a consecutive show on October 11.

Leone will then head to California for consecutive shows in San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Berkeley. The Better Man singer will also take the stage at The Armory in Minneapolis and Chicago's Auditorium Theatre.

Leon Bridges will be in Canada on October 27, for two successive shows at Toronto's Massey Hall. He will return to New York on October 30 and host three back-to-back concerts at the Beacon Theatre.

The singer will also headline concerts in Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Atlanta, and Nashville. He will officially wrap up The Leon Tour on November 15 with a show at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

The tour setlist will mostly revolve around performances of songs from the upcoming album, including Peaceful Place .

Hermanos Gutiérrez will join the tour as a special guest on all dates except for the two ACL Music Festival concerts. The November 15 concert in Forth Worth will also draw direct support from Charley Crockett.

Leon Bridges is coming home to Fort Worth in support of his upcoming self-titled album, Leon , the singer announced on Instagram last week. He will perform at Dickies Arena on Nov. 15 along with the Latin instrumental guitar duo Hermanos Gutiérrez.

“‘Leon’ is about the whole being greater than its parts. I wanted to bring the magic and connection that made this record to this tour so I felt it was important to pick the right rooms to play,” he wrote on Instagram.

“These are listening rooms. They’re beautiful stages that truly showcase the music and allow me to get back to analog instrumentation. Plus, I’ve really missed playing guitar.”

“The Leon Tour” kicks off at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on Oct. 4 and ends at Mexico City’s Corona Capital festival on Nov. 17. At the Fort Worth show, North Texas-raised singer Charley Crockett, who released an album called Visions of Dallas in July, will be featured as a special guest.

Bridges’ debut album Coming Home was a breakout success in 2015. He has since been nominated for several Grammys and won one for Best Traditional R&B Performance in 2019.

Born in Atlanta, the 35-year-old singer was raised in Fort Worth and is still based there.

“It’s important to keep Fort Worth my home, because there’s a sense of familiarity here,” Bridges told The Dallas Morning News in 2021 . “The mentality of people is really refreshing compared to L.A., where it’s a little more pretentious and superficial.”
