Nautica Voyage Sport is a flanker from the ever popular Voyage collection. This falls in line with all of the other aquatic aromatic fragrances from the Nautica line.

This fragrance was released in 2016. It definitely leans more masculine.

This is a sport type cologne, and they did a good job. This cologne is a sporty fresh aquatic fragrance. Nautica has multiple flankers for this collection, and this is another.

What Does Nautica Voyage Sport Smell Like

Nautica Voyage Sport smells like a bright, fresh, citrus cologne. The citrus scents come from bergamot, grapefruit, and other citrus notes. If you are looking for a fresh citrus dominant fragrance in the Voyage line, then Sport is the choice for you. A lot of the other Voyage flankers have citrus notes, but these come from the fruit line like apple.

While apple is listed as a note, it is not very noticeable. You may catch a whiff here and there, but fresh and tart citrus seem to dominate.

Nautica For Men hit this out of the park when designing a sporty type cologne. This blend of notes falls right in line with what you would expect out of a fresh sport fragrance.

This is a linear fragrance that does not last too long. That is to be expected with a citrus dominant cologne. The featured note to me is bergamot. This is also a familiar note from the 2005 release of Nautica Blue cologne . Both of these utilize bergamot and citrus to add freshness.

The longevity is weak for Voyage Sport. It will last up to about 4 hours. If you are lucky, you can get up to 6 hours with it. Being a citrus heavy fragrance, it just does not last long. This is typical for all citrus colognes though.

Being a citrus heavy fragrance, the projection is weak. This fragrance evaporates pretty quickly. You will be good to get an hour out of it. After that, it becomes a skin scent. This is probably the weakest of the Voyage flankers.

Nautica Voyage Sport comes in a glass bottle with a silver cap. The word Sport is in red. There is a boat sail on the bottle as well. The fragrance is light blue and almost clear.

The box is silver with a blue top. It also has the sail boat on it.

It comes in 100ml or 3.4 fl. oz. and it comes in a 50ml bottle.

The concentration is Eau de Toilette spray .

Nautica Voyage Sport will generally cost just under $25, but that can vary. It can be found online at most fragrance retailers. The lowest price that I have seen consistently is at Amazon though.

When To Wear Nautica Voyage Sport

This is a casual fragrance that can be worn almost anywhere. It is simple and linear. Due to its freshness, it is a great fragrance to wear at the gym. It can also be worn to work or any social gathering. Due to its low sillage and longevity, you likely won’t get many compliments on it unless you are very close to someone.

This is a great cologne to wear when you want to smell fresh and clean personally. There may be times when you do not want others to smell you. But, if they do happen to get real close to you, then you know that you will be clean and fresh smelling.

Overall Review Of Nautica Voyage Sport

This fragrance for men is a nice budget citrus dominant fresh scent. It is great for a low cost cologne. For a few dollars less, I would probably buy the OG Nautica Voyage. It lasts longer and smells a lot better.

Voyage Sport is not a bad fragrance. It just fills a small niche of what I would want to use it for. There are just a lot of other choices with similar price ranges. So, this fragrance does not get used too much for me.

Nautica Voyage Sport vs. Voyage

If you could take Nautica Voyage and reduce the amount of apple and woods, while also increasing citrus notes like bergamot, then you would have Nautica Sport.

Voyage has more fruit and wood fragrance accords. You will definitely smell a lot of green apple in Voyage, but not so much in Sport.

Sport will be your citrus dominant fragrance while Voyage will be your green and woody fragrance. Both will fall in line with aromatic aquatics.

Nautica Voyage will have better longevity and projection. The cost will be similar, but usually Sport tends to be a few dollars more.

Overall, Nautica Voyage is the better fragrance, but you can’t go wrong with owning them both.

When I first heard about Nautica fragrances I thought, Hmm, just another American sportswear brand releasing sporty fragrances that smell exactly the same. But after trying on a few, I was proven wrong. I quickly became hooked to some as they were exactly my type of scent.

Contrary to popular belief, Nautica colognes don’t smell the same. They all have their own unique qualities, just like the Nautica Blue and the Nautica Voyage. I put together this roundup to help clarify the difference between these two bestsellers, but also to let you know which one I think is better.

Nautica Blue

Nautica Blue belongs to the Aromatic Aquatic family. Launched in 2005, this Eau de Toilette for men concocted by Maurice Roucel is still one of Nautica’s best sellers.

The ocean-inspired Nautica Blue opens with citrusy top notes of bergamot, mellowed down with pineapple and peach tones. As it develops, subtle middle notes of Water Lily and jasmine reveal, and eventually the composition dries down to sweet base notes of sandalwood, musk, and cedar.

I first tried Nautica Bleu three years after it came out. I was instantly drawn by the shape of the bottle resembling a spinnaker sail. At first spray, I smelt familiar notes: a fresh, clean, masculine, and musky scent that I get from almost all blue bottles in any brand. After a few hours, I started to like it better, and then that was it. Gone. There was a slight trail of the Blue somewhere on my clothes and my, skin but nothing striking or turning heads.

Being light and not overpowering means I can wear it in the hot and humid weather, and being so cheap (I find it for $12) means I can reapply as much as I want to. I have no trouble wearing it during the day, to work, at the gym, right after showering, or as casual wear. I, however, prefer stronger and long-lasting scents for the evenings.

There are a few men’s colognes that I found that are pretty similar smelling to Nautica Blue. Dolce&Gabanna Light Blue Intense, for example, a woody aquatic scent, opens similarly to Nautica Blue, with citrusy notes such as grapefruit and mandarin orange. Bvlgari Aqua Pour Homme is the classic fresh aquatic cologne that most blue bottles smell like and so is the case with Nautica Blue. Davidoff Cool Water is this fresh and woody cologne that reminds me of racing, sea, waves, and the ocean, that’s exactly what Nautica Blue represents.

Azzaro Chrome has also similar notes and opens with bergamot and pineapple, just like the Nautica Blue. Lastly, if you like Nautica Blue but find it a little too gentle on your skin, try Ralph Lauren Polo Sport. Its fresh, energizing, and woodsy notes will never disappoint. If you’ve tried any of these and you like the fresh and aquatic scent, you have an idea how the Nautica Blue smells. Except, Nautica Blue does not perform as well as the alternatives mentioned.

The takeaway from Nautica Blue

To sum it up, Nautica Blue is an inexpensive cologne for men that I don’t mind having in my collection. It is a safe buy, smells fresh, clean, and sporty, and it makes me smell good for a few hours without being offensive to the people in my surrounding. But unless you don’t mind reapplying, Nautica Blue’s performance leaves a lot to be desired.

Nautica Voyage

Nautica Voyage was launched in 2006, a year later after the Nautica Bleu. The nose behind this cologne is again Maurice Roucel. Unlike the Aromatic Nautica Blue, the Voyage is a Woody Aquatic fragrance that opens with fruity and green top notes like apple and green leaves. There is a warm heart note of mimosa and lotus which blends well with the base notes of musk, cedar, amber, and oakmoss, leaving a heavy musky trail behind.

To me, Nautica Voyage smells romantic, fresh, sweet, and masculine, a scent I like to wear on summer nights. Surprisingly enough, it lasts me the entire evening and goes well into the morning but is much softer, almost powdery.

It is an inexpensive cologne, one I can grab when I am in a rush. It never fails to keep me fresh.

However, over the years the scent has been reformulated and while the previous bottles had a metal cap the new ones come with a plastic cap. Although they smell very similar, the performance in the reformulated is not as long-lasting as the previous batches. But I still get about 5-7 hours of freshness.

The cologne reminds me of a Tommy Bahama for Men because I can smell the exotic, sweet, and summery notes. With Nautica Voyage being less sweet and overpowering. Though it’s a perfume for women, there is something in Escada Into The Blue that is so similar to Nautica Voyage. It could be the green notes in the opening or the woodsy tones in the dry down. In any case, I find that this scent smells somehow very similar to Nautica Voyage.

The takeaway from Nautica Voyage

All in all, Nautica Voyage is a classic fresh scent from Nautica, and at $20 it is worth a blind buy. Longevity and sillage are moderate, lasting you long enough to run errands, or go to after-work cocktails. It is not even nearly offensive, which means you can even wear it to the gym, or at your doctor’s appointment.

The verdict: Nautica Blue Vs Nautica Voyage

With all being said, now it’s time to decide which of the two best sellers is the right one to buy. Both Nautica Blue and Nautica Voyage have a strong opening, one that resembles a clean and fresh shower gel. In a few hours the Nautica Blue slowly disappears, while the Nautica Voyage lasts throughout the day and well into the night and the following morning, with no need to reapply.

When I wear Nautica Blue I feel energetic, outgoing, and sporty, I feel like going on an adventure hiking the mountains or sailing, whereas Nautica Voyage gives me a more sophisticated feel. Hence, I prefer to wear it on a romantic date, night out with friends, and at work meetings.

Both of these colognes are popular, and a good reason for that is the low price. While Nautica Blue comes in 0.5oz, 1.7oz, and 3.4oz, and goes for $20 for the large size, the Nautica Voyage is available in 1.6oz, 3.38oz, and 6.7 oz for $35, making it a better value for money.

While both scents suit me well, I still prefer Nautica Voyage better. I fancy warm woody notes and this cologne hits those spots. It is impossible to hate, and I get a lot more compliments on the Nautica Voyage compared to Nautica Blue. What’s more, Nautica Voyage lasts me throughout the day, and goes into the next morning, without having to reapply. I wake up to a soft, musky, floral scent that I’d like to keep just a little longer before I jump in the shower.

If you are after a fresh cologne, that is safe to wear any time of the day or evening, with a good performance, and one that won’t hurt your budget, then Voyage is one of the best choices out there. It is versatile and appealing and will win you tons of compliments.

Nautica perfumes are famed for the rather casual vibes they exude and the same can be said for these two perfumes.

They are both perfect to wear to any social event but also decent options to wear to work. 

Blue smells more professional with its woodsy notes while Voyage is more of a confidence booster and could be described as projecting a sensual aroma.

If you’re diligent in your choice of colognes, then you would do well to choose Blue for official outfits while Voyage works better for social events. 

The more versatile choice between the two colognes would be Voyage and that’s mostly because its longevity means it could get you through a hot summer day without wearing off too quickly.

Voyage and Blue are both products from Nautica, an American fashion house founded in 1983 by David Chu . 

Nautica produces colognes for men and women.

Their first fragrance was released in 1992 and they have since launched over 20 perfumes. 

Final Verdict

If you’re a lover of woody aquatic scents , there’s no doubt that Nautica Blue is a great cologne.

Its projection is clean, fresh, and gives an enjoyable urban flavor. 

However, when compared with the Nautica Voyage, Blue simply does not give an overwhelming performance.

Voyage presents better longevity, a more versatile scent, and a slightly better projection. 

The only slight advantage Blue has over Voyage is a slightly cheaper price, but they are both so cheap that you won’t be too bothered to pay a few extra dollars to buy Voyage. 

Before you choose either colognes, it is important to state your priorities.

If you’re more interested in the woodsy aquatic smell, then you may go for Blue, but if you’re looking to buy the cologne with overall better performance, then you should go for Voyage. 

Most users simply buy both perfumes to add to their rotation and thanks to the cheap price they both go for, you too can do the same to get the best of both!

Nautica Voyage vs. Voyage Heritage Comparison

After recently purchasing a bottle of the newer release from Nautica, Voyage Heritage, I knew that I had to do a comparison with its famous predecessor. Would this one finally be the flanker scent that could compete head to head with the original? Well, after wearing both, I am going to break it down for you. Which smells better when comparing Nautica Voyage vs. Voyage Heritage? Which lasts longer? Ultimately, which is the better buy?

Voyage Heritage

Right from the start, these two fragrances have nothing in common, outside of the shared name. Voyage Heritage opens up with a blend of warm spices and cooler ones. It is somewhat herbal with rosemary leading the way and being paired with peppermint.

Also, a slight bergamot sits underneath. Then, after some minutes, ginger begins to take some of the strength of the rosemary away.

Voyage starts off with crisp apple, mimosa, musk, and a watery sort of aroma. It feels pretty green and the musk is too much, for my nose at times. Honestly, the start is my least favorite aspect of Voyage.

Which is better? Neither one of these colognes, starts off amazing. However, I think that I prefer Heritage, and its fresh spice versus the somewhat messy opening of Voyage.

Edge: Heritage

Both of these fragrances, start off as moderate, with their sillage. Neither is going to overwhelm the room. I will say that, Voyage, holds up much better than Heritage. Heritage gets noticeably weaker, much faster than the original.

Edge: Voyage

After testing Heritage, I get a consistent 4-6 hours of wear. With much of that time, as a close to skin scent. Meanwhile, Voyage will get me 5-7 hours, with better strength.

Versatility

These fragrances can both be worn year round, but really excel in the spring/summer months. Heritage gives you that cool and spicy fresh vibe, for the warmer weather. They are both casual daytime wears, that can serve as daily colognes, for guys who want something subtle. No clear winner, here.

Overall Scent

So, does Voyage Heritage, knock the original off of its throne? I’m going to say, no. I think that it could’ve, if the execution of this fragrance, had been better. When I originally read the notes of Heritage, I had pretty high hopes, that this one could be a new classic cheapie.

However, it just kind of falls flat. It smells nice enough, but the performance leaves much to be desire, and it feels like it’s missing something.

I said in my review of this scent, that I thought there should’ve been a stronger citrus top. I was also expecting more from the peppermint note. It’s a pretty good fragrance, that had lots of potential.

Voyage, is still the top draw of the Nautica line. The apple note is nice, the musk settles, and Voyage becomes much smoother as it wears on. Then, the dry woody notes come out, and Voyage really becomes a great inexpensive option for guys. It wins this match up.

Winner: Voyage
