our song eras tour

Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” concert film premiered in October to an enthusiastic crowd of celebrities, fans and of course Taylor’s team, with the star of the film in attendance. As one of the first to see the film, TheWrap got the scoop on which songs from the wildly popular tour made the film, and which songs were cut.

After making speeches in multiple auditoriums for separate audiences, Swift, clad in a sky blue floral-patterned dress (probably in theme for “1989 (Taylor’s Version) with her hair pinned up like the signature bob she had when that album first came out), sat back to enjoy the film’s premiere in one of the IMAX screening rooms with her background vocalists and publicist Tree Paine.

The documentary runs 2 hours and 48 minutes, slightly shorter than Swift’s three-hour setlist and performance, which she has brought to 17 of the United States so far in addition to Mexico. The European leg will kick off in November, with Swift returning for 15 more U.S. shows in October and November of 2024. And now you can rent “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” on digital to watch at home. Read on for the 41 songs that made the cut to truly represent all 10 of Swift’s eras.

Now that the film is heading exclusively to Disney+ for streaming , additional acoustic surprise songs will make it into the film, all of which were filmed during the Los Angeles SoFi shows.

Listen to this article

Taylor Swift 's The Eras Tour is in full swing, and just as fans had hoped, Taylor has confirmed that she will be performing surprise songs on every single night of the tour.

If you've been a fan of Taylor for a while, you'll know that she always includes a surprise song or two in her tour set lists. The tradition goes all the way back to the Speak Now World Tour, where she included the surprise covers she performed during that era.

With the tour now officially underway, the surprise songs are back, back, back again! There are 45 songs in the setlist already, which means she's got well over 200 songs (!!) to choose from for the surprise slots.

Initially, Taylor told fans that she will only play each surprise song once, unless she messes it up. But she has now confirmed that she has ended that rule, and she will play whatever she wants, however many times she wants!

So, what surprise songs has Taylor Swift already performed on The Eras Tour and what can fans expect for the rest of the dates? Here's the full list. (We'll update this article live, during each show.)

Taylor Swift announces The Eras Tour concert film with trailer

What surprise songs has Taylor Swift not played yet?

With Taylor performing at least two surprise songs a night, it's pretty much a given that she will perform the wide majority of her catalogue before she finishes the entire tour.

Every acoustic section is different, but fans heading to the final leg of the Eras Tour will likely end up hearing some repeats as Taylor now only has a handful of songs that have not yet been played on this particular tour. A few of them are incredibly emotional and personal so she may not even perform them at all.

Here's all the songs that Taylor Swift has not yet performed live on the Eras Tour:

  • Taylor Swift : [All songs from Taylor Swift have now been performed.]
  • Fearless (Taylor's Version): 'That’s When', 'Bye Bye Baby'
  • Speak Now (Taylor's Version): [All songs from Speak Now (Taylor's Version) have been performed.]
  • Red (Taylor's Version) : 'Girl At Home', 'Ronan', 'Forever Winter'
  • 1989 (Taylor's Version) : [All songs from 1989 (Taylor's Version) have now been performed.]
  • Reputation : [All songs from Reputation have now been performed.]
  • Lover : 'Soon You’ll Get Better'
  • Folklore : [All songs from Folklore have now been performed.]
  • Evermore : [All songs from Evermore have now been performed.]
  • Midnights : [All songs from Midnights have now been performed.]
  • The Tortured Poets Department : 'Cassandra'

Taylor performed 'Florida!!!' with Florence Welch during London Night 8 (Aug 20) but it was performed during the main setlist, not as a surprise song. It could still pop up later down the line during the acoustic section.

Taylor has also not yet performed 'Tolerate It' as a surprise song after removing it from the official setlist.

Alongside those listed album tracks, there's also several standalone and soundtrack songs that Taylor could add into the mix: 'Only The Young', 'I Heart?', 'Beautiful Eyes', 'Beautiful Ghosts'... And of course, 'Macavity' and 'Christmas Tree Farm'. (You never know!)

There's also the small possibility that she could potentially perform the songs she's featured on, like she did with Gracie Abrams on London Night 3, maybe even with special guests: 'The Joker and the Queen', 'Two Is Better Than One', 'Renegade', 'Both of Us', 'Gasoline', 'Birch', 'Highway Don’t Care' and 'The Alcott'.

It's highly unlikely that Taylor will perform 'Soon You'll Get Better' as a surprise song. Taylor previously said that she can't perform the song live because of how difficult it is for her to "emotionally deal" with the meaning behind it, which many assume is about her mother's cancer diagnosis. She's performed it once , in a segment for Global Citizen in 2020, but is yet to sing it in front of an audience.

What surprise songs has Taylor Swift performed on The Eras Tour?

What surprise songs will Taylor Swift perform again?

At the start of the The Eras Tour, Taylor revealed that she had two rules when it comes to playing surprise songs more than once. Rule 1: If she messed up, she's allowed to play it again. Rule 2: Midnights songs are exempt and she can play them "however many times I want..."

However, in February 2024, she confirmed that that rule is no longer in place. She will play whatever songs she wants, however many times she wants.

So, if you're going to a London show in August, or one of the final shows in Vancouver and you're hoping to hear 'You're On Your Own, Kid'? It's now a strong possibility.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift ‘s Eras Tour set list features a surprise song (or two), so far performed during a mini acoustic set, on each date of the the superstar’s trek, which kicked off in March 2023.

Guitar in hand and making her way to the end of the stage’s catwalk at March 17’s Eras kickoff in Glendale, Ariz., Swift revealed her intentions for the acoustic portion of her long-awaited live show. She’ll perform a surprise song that will not be played again on this tour — probably.

“The plan, the goal, would be to play different songs every single night and never repeat one. Right? So that when you heard one on this tour, you would know it’s the only time that I was going to play it in the acoustic set, unless — caveat — unless I mess it up so badly,” she said with a small laugh, “that I have to do it over again in some other city. Send your best wishes towards me that I don’t do that.”

Here Are All the Celebrities Who Have Attended Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour

The Eras Tour is her first real tour in five years, and the first time the prolific songwriter is getting to perform selections from Lover , Folklore , Evermore , Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department to sold-out stadium crowds.

Eras Tour night one introduced a career-spanning, whopping 44-song setlist with a runtime of more than three hours, with Swift playing anywhere from one to eight tracks from all 10 of her full-length studio albums. The show’s nightly surprise is sure to keep her fans on their tallest tiptoes, waiting to hear what gem will be unveiled at their concert.

The only city that was unable to get a surprise set is Vienna, Austria, where Swift was scheduled to perform from August 8 to 10 before the shows were canceled due to a terror threat. In statement on Aug. 7, 2024, Barracuda Music, the concert promoters for the Austrian shows said, “With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety. All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 business days.”

Below, check out the list of all the surprise songs she’s brought to The Eras Tour, courtesy of social media livestreams and post-concert clips uploaded by Swifties in attendance. Bookmark this page, as the list will updated regularly as the tour goes on.

"Mirrorball"

Taylor Swift Mirrorball Eras Tour

Performed at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona (March 17, 2023)

“I was thinking about the first one I would play for you,” Swift said at the very first Eras Tour concert, to a crowd of fans who were still gloriously spoiler-free about what was in store for the rest of the show. “I was thinking about what song to play first, and I was thinking about how one of the songs that I wrote with you in mind during the pandemic was one of the first songs I wrote for Folklore , and it was me writing about how badly I craved the connection that I feel from the care that you have directed in my way. I’m trying to tell you I love you, and I’m babbling,” she noted. Swift tried again: “I was trying to think of sort of an eloquent way to say that I love you and I need your attention all the time, and I came up with ‘I’m a mirrorball.'” After the wordy intro, Swift begins singing “Mirrorball” at the 2:17 timestamp in the video above.

"Tim McGraw"

Taylor Swift

“I was thinking about tonight and how special this is,” Swift explained on the opening night of The Eras Tour, and then added, “So I thought it might be kind of fun to play the very first song I ever put out.” The crowd gladly sang along to her pretty piano rendition of her debut single, nearly 17 years after it was first released. “Tim McGraw” was the only track from her first album to make the Eras setlist in Arizona.

"This Is Me Trying"

Taylor Swift This Is Me Trying Eras Tour

Performed at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona (March 18, 2023)

“I keep forgetting what key it’s in — one second. It’s lost all concept to me,” Swift joked before launching into the emotional Folklore track as the first of two surprise songs, at the second show of The Eras Tour.

"State of Grace"

Taylor Swift State of Grace Eras Tour

Swift brought the Red album opener down to its roots as a piano ballad in Glendale. Her delicate vocals were echoed by a stadium of thousands joining in, making for a chilling moment of connection between a singer-songwriter and her fans.

Performed at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (March 24, 2023)

“I do get ideas from places. I actually saw an interview that Beabadoobee did — who is our amazing, brilliant opening act tonight — and they were saying, ‘Oh, you’re going on The Eras Tour. What song might you want to hear?’ And she was like, ‘I grew up listening to songs on her first album.’ And she named a specific song. So I figured, you know what, for her first show with us, I’ll play the specific song that she said she would want to hear. So this is a song I wrote for my ninth-grade talent show. It’s called ‘Our Song.’”

"Snow on the Beach"

“Lana Del Rey put out a new album. It’s called Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. Guys, it’s so good. You probably already know that, but it’s just extraordinary. I just think she’s the best that we have. I think we need to make it a priority as a group to stream, buy, support this album and this artist. She knows I’m obsessed with her, and she was kind enough to make a song with me on Midnights called ‘Snow on the Beach’ because she’s a generous king. She did that for me, and I’ll never forget how nice she’s been to me. It’s so cool when you have favorite artists and they turn out to be so nice to you. I wanted to just do some promo for her, and also, in honor of this brilliant album that she just put out, I wanted to play ‘Snow on the Beach.’”

"Cowboy Like Me" (with Marcus Mumford)

Performed at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (March 25, 2023)

“Las Vegas, Nevada, you are so lucky, because we do have a special guest with us tonight,” Swift told the sold-out crowd when introducing Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford. “Would you sing ‘Cowboy Like Me’ with me?” The duo paired up for the 2020 Evermore duet.

“Sad Beautiful Tragic”

Performed at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (March 31, 2023)

Swift worked in “Sad Beautiful Tragic” from Red to the setlist during her acoustic portion of the Arlington show. Strumming it on just an acoustic guitar, she introduced the song saying, “I love this one. When I love a song, I don’t care what anyone says.”

“I have a really, really, really wonderful, incredible person in my life who I’ve been making music with,” Swift said, bringing Aaron Dessner out on her stage for a second time this tour and joining him at the piano bench. “…We wrote this song that I really love because it allowed me to get a lot off my chest, and now we’re gonna sing it for you — ’cause who doesn’t love a mad woman?”

Swift picked up the guitar for surprise song No. 2 of the night, complimenting the particularly loud Tampa crowd. She explained that she thought she’d play a song they might know and want to sing along with. “Just thought that would be nice, which is the opposite of mean,” she quipped.

Going way back to her very early songwriting days, Swift introduced “A Place in This World” as a song she penned around the age of 13 — noting that she might relate to its lyrics even more 20 years later.

"Today Was a Fairytale"

“You make every day on this tour feel like a fairytale,” Swift told her fans before performing the song, originally featured on the soundtrack for the 2010 film Valentine’s Day , on piano. (At the second of three Houston shows, she admitted that The Eras Tour has basically become her “entire personality.”)

"Begin Again"

Performed at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas (April 23, 2023)

“We’ve come to the acoustic era,” Swift said as she set up for the two surprise songs of the evening at the end of the catwalk. Before launching into the Red track, she told the crowd, “I hope that if you know it, you sing along” — and they did.

"Cold as You"

“No shade to the other songs on the album,” Swift joked, expressing an utmost love for the emotional ballad from her debut album, which she played at the piano for the night three Houston audience. “Cold as You” immediately trended on Twitter while she sang the song live on tour for the first time in a decade.

"The Other Side of the Door"

Performed at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia (April 28, 2023)

“This is one of my favorite moments in the show because it kind of keeps me on my toes,” Swift said to a wild crowd in Atlanta.

“When I was rerecording my album Fearless , I looked back and I was listening to this one … I remember when I wrote this one I was so obsessed with this sort of, like, rant I put at the end of the song,” she said, hinting at the deep cut that was to come. “And I never, I don’t think I really got to perform it live. If I ever I ever did, it was not enough times, so I’d really love to play the song. It’s called ‘The Other Side of the Door.'”

"Coney Island"

A pretty long speech came before the first-ever solo (and first-ever at all) live performance of the heart-wrenching Evermore highlight, originally a duet with with Matt Berninger.

“Any time I’m gonna talk about or even reference another artist, I feel inclined to tell you that if they’re not here, they’re not here,” she warned the crowd. “No one else is here. You are stuck with me. It’s only me. But I am gonna talk about another artist. I just feel like, you know, stadiums are huge and it’s important to really communicate, so that’s what I’m doing. I’m gonna talk about another artist who has an album that just came out that is so incredible. The National just had an album come out. This band has influenced me beyond my ability to verbalize how much they’ve influenced me — just lyrically, their ability to set a scene, their ability to tell a story. And obviously, Aaron Dessner is in The National and he has completely changed my life. I was lucky enough to be able to write a song with them for their new album, which is called the First Two Pages of Frankenstein . Check it out, stream it, buy it on vinyl. I love them so much. They’ve been so kind to me. So, I’m not gonna sing the song that we have on this new album — it’s called ‘The Alcott’ — check that out, though. But I am gonna sing ‘Coney Island.'”

“I’ve been planning something for a while. You know how I love to plan things. You know how I love to surprise you… It’s my love language with you,” Swift teased during her first night in Nashville on The Eras Tour. “I plot, I scheme, I plan.”

“Rather than me speaking about it,” she said with a grin, “I thought I would just show you — If you would direct your attention to the back screen.” The screen announced that Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) will be released on July 7, and Swift then launched into the album track “Sparks Fly” on acoustic guitar.

"Teardrops on My Guitar"

Before playing the next surprise song at the piano, a selection from her debut, Swift reflected on her early years in Nashville, noting that she’d moved to the city while in eighth grade. “I’d been writing songs since I was 12, but when I think about Nashville I think about writing all the songs that would end up on my first album,” she told the crowd.

Swift welcomed “kind, wonderful genius” Aaron Dessner to the stage on a stormy night in Nashville to join her on the surprise song from the 3AM version of Midnights . “He was warned about the rain, and he did accept the challenge anyway,” she said.

“Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” was “one of our favorites when we made it,” Swift noted.

“I want to play a song that when I wrote it, I was writing about all these relationship things that hadn’t happened yet,” Swift said from her seat at the piano. She described how “it’s crazy” to go back and listen to songs that at the time were rooted in “fantasy” but at her age now are relatable, and then introduced the Speak Now track that was coming next: “This is called ‘Mine,'” Swift said.

Performed at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (May 12, 2023)

“I wanted to start out with this one in Philly because there was sort of a — I don’t know how large the debate was, but I did see the debate,” Swift told the audience, referencing the “Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door” lyrics from “Gold Rush.”

“I saw some people wondering if it was the band the Eagles or the team the Eagles,” the singer added. “And I love the band the Eagles, but guys, like, come on, I’m from Philly.”

"The Best Day"

Tears had to have been aplenty throughout the stadium on Mother’s Day as Swift told the story of “The Best Day” and performed it on piano.

“I secretly recorded a song on Fearless ,” she told the crowd, recalling being 16 or 17 at the time and explaining that it was very tricky to get this project done without her mother knowing. “It was very sneaky and fun,” she said.

“I wrote this song just compiling these sort of core childhood memories I had of not just her as a mother but her as a friend,” Swift said. After playing the sweet song for her mom for the first time, while showing her the video of personal family footage set to the track that she edited together herself, she asked her mom, “Did you like the song?” “It’s such a beautiful song. Where did you find it? It sounds exactly like the things we went through” Mom replied, not even comprehending that her own daughter would write a song about the two of them. “I wrote it and recorded it secretly,” Taylor told her. “It is our memories. That’s about us.” Needless to say, there were plenty of tears that day, too.

For the first time in Eras Tour history, Swift performed both surprise songs on guitar. That’s because her piano took on a life of its own after getting damaged by rain during the show the night prior, causing Swift to last-minute switch over to guitar for “Red.”

“Literally, it was like a water park under the stage,” she recalled to fans at the May 21 show. “This has clearly broken my keyboard. It was literally underwater — I don’t know how any of the instruments were working last night.”

“Getaway Car”

Performed at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. (May 26, 2023)

“I know you’ve wanted to hear this song,” Swift teased before her first surprise acoustic offering. And she wasn’t exaggerating. The pick was “Getaway Car,” a beloved fan fave, and for the song, frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff joined her on stage. “He’s been one of my best friends — he feels like a family member,” Swift said while welcoming “Jersey’s own” Antonoff. In addition to singing lead on a few lines, Antonoff aided Swift with some forceful acoustic strumming on the Reputation highlight.

Midnights is the most recent album to drop before Taylor’s Eras Tour, so it’s no surprise that it takes up a good portion of the setlist. Even so, the standard Eras Tour setlist doesn’t include one of the album’s absolute best songs — but the evening’s night’s crowd was in for a treat. “This is one of my favorites off Midnights , but I haven’t played it yet,” Swift said, before performing a gorgeous rendition of “Maroon” while seated at an upright piano festooned with a floral design.

Performed at Soldier Field in Chicago (June 3, 2023)

For this first-ever live performance of the “From the Vault” track off of Fearless (Taylor’s Version) , Swift decided to make it all the more special for her fans in Chicago. “When I was re-recording  Fearless , I thought it would be really cool to have one of my favorite artists sing on one of the song,” she told the screaming crowd. “We are so lucky Chicago … because not only did that artist say ‘yes,’ but Maren Morris is actually here tonight.” Morris joined Swift on stage for a beautiful rendition of the ballad, later writing on her Instagram that she “won’t ever be shutting up” about getting to perform the song live.

“I have a really, really incredible dad, like hasn’t missed as how type of dad,” Swift said of her own father. She also showed love for those who don’t have a good relationship with their parents and “how hard it can be for them.”

Swift prefaced her “Dear John” performance by encouraging fans to show “kindness and gentleness” on the internet ahead of her  Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)  album release on July 7.

“I’m 33 years old. I don’t care about anything that happened to me when I was 19,” she said when introducing the 2010 ballad, about a toxic relationship with an older man, widely assumed to be the singer’s ex-boyfriend  John Mayer .

“I’m not putting this album out so that you can go and should feel the need to defend me on the internet against someone you think I might have written a song about 14 billion years ago.”

“Dear John” appears on Swift’s third album,  Speak Now . The track peaked at No. 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2010.

"Right Where You Left Me"

Performed at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. (July 28, 2023)

Swift teamed up with her frequent collaborator  Aaron Dessner  for the first live performance of “Right Where You Left Me” in Santa Clara, Calif., on July 28. Prior to the performance, Swift warned concert-goers that it was one of her more challenging songs to play live.

“Because it’s one of our favorites, there’s more pressure on it,” Swift  told  the crowd. “Also, this is one of the wordiest songs. I have been rehearsing this for weeks, OK? And I’ve never, ever gotten it 100% right. Not even one time. If this is the time that I get it right, you have no idea what kind of celebration I’m going to be exhibiting after that. And also, this goes for you. If you can get all the words right to this song, you get to pat yourself on the back. You win an imaginary prize. It’s yours. We love this song and I hope that I somewhat do it justice.”

As expected, the songstress goofed up the lyrics before laughing it off and starting again where they left off. “It was too good to be true!” she said. “I knew that I would f— that up! We really can’t let that be it, so now we’ve got to go back.”

When Swift played the opening chords of “Exile” from 2020’s  Folklore  for the second surprise song, the crowd cheered wildly and started searching the stage for her duet partner  Bon Iver . After all, the only other time Swift has performed the song live is alongside Justin Vernon when she  popped up during a Bon Iver concert in London  last year. But the singer/songwriter ended up performing the duet solo instead on Monday night – which made for an incredible communal experience when the crowd filled in for Vernon on the bridge, creating a powerful call-and-response between Swift and her ever-prepared fans.

Taylor Swift: Which Eras Tour Songs Didn’t Make Concert Film & Which Surprise Songs Got In

Every show on the Eras Tour involves an acoustic set where Swift performs at least two songs custom to that night’s show. At first, she wouldn’t allow herself repeats unless she messed up the lyrics to a song, but now, she has done away with that rule and gotten more creative by combining songs in mashups and playing up to four in a segment. The first song or three take place on guitar, and then she shifts to piano for the second half before diving beneath the stage to resume the setlist – which has since contracted and expanded to include a  Tortured Poets Department  era and set .

Below you’ll find Taylor Swift’s surprise songs that she has played most recently in Europe as well as a record of all those she has played on the entire tour so far.

Taylor Swift adds surprise songs to every Eras Tour setlist. See all the songs she's played so far

Portrait of Bryan West

One of the most anticipated moments of each night of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is her acoustic set .

At the far end of her stage, the singer-songwriter plays two different songs, one on the guitar and one on the piano.

Throughout 2023, fans from all over the globe tuned into social media to see which songs Swift would choose . She developed rules around the set. Each song could only be played once on the tour, unless she screwed it up. Oh, and she decided to start it all over again this year.

"I decided that in 2024, when we go back on tour, I'm just gonna open back up all the songs for surprise songs,” Swift said during her final 2023 performance in Sao Paulo, Brazil . “For one year, we've really gotten through a lot of songs, so I'm just gonna make all the songs fair game when we go back on tour."

That day has arrived. Swift performed her first show of 2024 in Tokyo on Wednesday . Throughout the year, she will travel to 23 different cities around the world. Follow along here to see which surprise songs she plays at each tour stop. Below, see what she played — and didn't — in 2023.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour surprise songs include so many deep cuts and new mashups.

Taylor Swift’s Germany Surprise Song Mashups Were Some Of Her Best Yet

Listening to “Fresh Out The Slammer” / “You Are In Love” on loop.

The Eras Tour is truly the gift that keeps on giving. Not only is Swift’s tour a hotbed for celebrities (hi, Travis Kelce ) and collecting friendship bracelets, but the setlist is packed with hits. At each show, the singer has shown love to her entire discography and some cult classics — or what she defines as “surprise songs.” No two Eras Tour shows are the same, as she changes up which two surprise tracks she’ll sing at each stop. Luckily, Swifties have shared tons of videos capturing these performances online.

During the tour’s opening night on Mar. 17, 2023 in Arizona, Swift told the crowd her setlist idea. “The plan, the goal, would be to play different songs every single night and never repeat one,” she said, adding these tracks would be performed during her acoustic set . With a lighthearted smile, she then gave a quick caveat. “Unless I mess it up so badly that I have to do it over again in another city.”

The whole year, Swift kept true to her promise and switched up the 36th and 37th songs with new surprise tracks. She occasionally repeated these performances due to minor hiccups, because ~Errors Tour.~ But these live renditions were iconic, nonetheless.

During her Nov. 26, 2023 show in São Paulo, Brazil, Swift made a major announcement about her surprise songs for 2024. “What I’ve decided is that in 2024, when we go back out on tour, I’m just going to open back up all the songs for surprise songs ,” Swift said. “I feel like for one year we’ve really gotten through a lot of songs. So I’m just going to make all the songs fair game.”

The full list of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour surprise songs is massive.

Here are all the special one-night-only Eras Tour performances, including her newest addition of medleys, that fans will always remember.

The Munich, Germany Shows

“Fresh Out The Slammer” / “You Are In Love” is truly a sickening combo, and Swift proved it when she paired the two songs for her Munich show on July 27.

Her second mashup — “Ivy” and “Call It What You Want” — seemed to be a shoutout to all the small, quiet moments that make a love affair special.

Swift’s collab with Zayn Malik, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” made its return to the Eras Tour on July 28. She mashed the song with “imgonnagetyouback” off of Tortured Poets . Next, she paired another TTPD song “loml” with her Fearless vault track, “Don’t You.”

The Hamburg, Germany Shows

Swift went all the way back to her debut days on July 23, but she added a twist. She performed a mashup of “Teardrops On My Guitar” / “The Last Time.” Later, things got *sad* when she played the heartbreaking mashup of “ We Were Happy” / “Happiness” on the piano.

Swift brought back a song that was cut from the Eras tour setlist for her surprise songs on July 24. She mixed the tracks “The Last Great American Dynasty” and “Run” for a surprising mashup. Then, she sang a mashup of “Nothing New” / “Dear Reader.”

The Gelsenkirchen, Germany Shows

For her first night in Gelsenkirchen, Swift started off her surprise songs on an optimistic note, pairing “Superstar” and “Invisible String.” She also did a mashup of “Slut!” / “False God,” perfect for Swifties who love her slower tracks.

Swift went back to her roots a bit with a mashup of “Speak Now” / “Hey Stephen.”

She also did a mashup of “This Is Me Trying” / “Labyrinth” — proof that although Folklore and Midnights have very different vibes, but they certainly sound right when paired together.

The Milan, Italy Surprise Songs

Swift did an interesting mix of breakup tracks for her July 13 show in Milan. She started off with a mashup of “the 1” / “Wonderland.”

Later, she sang a mashup of two Red tracks, “I Almost Do” / “The Moment I Knew.”

Swift kept the breakup songs coming during her second Milan show. She combined “ Mr. Perfectly Fine” and “Red,” before going into a more anxiety focused mashup: “Getaway Car” / “Out of the Woods.”

The Zürich, CHE Surprise Songs

For Swift’s 113th Eras Tour performance, she wanted to make her acoustic set extra special in honor of her lucky number. “ I just thought since [13 is] my favorite number , I’d just do some of my favorite songs for the acoustic section,” she announced to the crowd, before launching into a mashup of "Right Where You Left Me" / "All You Had to Do Was Stay ."

And of course, since it was July 9 after all, she had to perform her heart-rending breakup ballad “Last Kiss ,” which famously mentions that date. She paired the song, which is thought to be about her split with Joe Jonas , with another breakup song: "Sad Beautiful Tragic."

For her second Zürich show, Swift paired up nostalgic throwbacks with some of her more recent, underrated tracks. She sang a mashup of “Closure” / “A Perfectly Good Heart” on guitar and then “Robin” / “Never Grow Up” on piano.

The Amsterdam, NLD Surprise Songs

Swift kept her hands to herself with a yearning mashup of “Guilty as Sin?” and “Untouchable .”

For night two, the guitar section got a bit flirty with a mix of "Imgonnagetyouback" and "Dress ."

And then she brought the romance with " You Are in Love" / "Cowboy like Me ."

Swift’s final night in Amsterdam was a full love letter to Travis Kelce, who was watching on from the crowd. She delivered the live debut of “ Sweeter than Fiction,” combining it with “Holy Ground .”

And finally, sang her most Kelce-coded mashup yet: " Mary's Song (Oh My My My)" / "So High School" / "Everything Has Changed ." This marked Swift’s first time performing “Mary’s Song” live since its release as a track on her debut album in 2006. The deep cut has taken on a significant new meaning since Swift began dating Kelce, thanks to the lyric, “I’ll be 87, you’ll be 89 ,” which references their two signifying numbers.

Fans noticed Swift gave a knowing grin to the audience during that particular line.

The Dublin, IRE Surprise Songs

Swift kicked off her Dublin shows with a mashup of "State of Grace" and "You're on Your Own, Kid."

That was followed by a romantic mashup of "This Love" and "Ours ."

At her final Dublin show, Swift dedicated her surprise song set to Stevie Nicks, who was in the audience. She started out by combining “The Lucky One” with “Clara Bow ,” which includes a shoutout to Nicks in the lyrics .

Swift sent a very pointed message to her bullies by combining "Thank You Aimee" and "Mean ."

As an extra special treat for the London crowd, Swift brought out her opener Hayley Williams to perform their duet "Castles Crumbling" live for the first time.

To celebrate her newly released album, Swift brought another opener on stage, Gracie Abrams, to sing their duet “Us .”

She then sang a supersized medley of "Out of the Woods," "Is It Over Now?" and "Clean ."

The Cardiff, WAL Surprise Songs

For her one night in Cardiff, Swift leaned on the shady side with a mashup of "I Forgot That You Existed" and "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things ."

She then played a mournful medley of "I Hate It Here" and "The Lakes ."

The Liverpool, ENG Surprise Songs

The night one Liverpool crowd got a Speak Now double feature when Swift performed a mashup of “Mine” and the album’s vault track “I Can See You .”

Then, she took to the piano to sing a combo of “Cornelia Street” and “Maroon .”

One of the most surprising surprise songs of all came on night two of Liverpool, when Swift combined “Gold Rush” with the Rihanna and Calvin Harris single “This Is What You Came For .” As hardcore Swifties know, Swift secretly co-wrote the 2016 release under a pseudonym .

Things then took a sadder turn when Swift performed a mashup of “The Great War” and “You’re Losing Me .”

Swift debuted what she dubbed “the murder mashup,” weaving together vengeance-inspired tracks “Carolina” and “No Body, No Crime .”

Then the night took an emotional turn as Swift played “The Manuscript” and “Red” on her piano.

The Edinburgh, SCT Surprise Songs

She then took to her piano for a rendition of “ ‘Tis the Damn Season” combined with “Daylight .”

Swift really kicked things into high gear with a mash-up of “The Bolter” and “Getaway Car. ”

It was her piano set that really surprised Swifties, though. She sang a combination of “All of the Girls You Loved Before” and “Crazier .” Swift wrote “Crazier” in 2009 for The Hannah Montana movie, and in the 15 years since, she had never once performed it live, so this unexpected live debut was a huge treat.

The Lyon, FR Eras Tour Surprise Songs

She then repeated a particularly memorable mash-up she’s done before: “Fifteen” and “You’re On Your Own, Kid.”

Another Tortured Poets live debut: Swift sang the fan-fave “Guilty As Sin?” live for the first time .

Afterwards, Swift performed her longest mashup yet, combining “Say Don’t Go,” “Welcome to New York,” and “Clean .”

She kept this new three-song mashup trend going in honor of producer Max Martin attending the final Stockholm concert. She sang three songs Martin produced for her: “Message in a Bottle,” “How You Get the Girl,” and “New Romantics .”

She wrapped up her time in Sweden with one last Tortured Poets live debut: “ How Did It End? ”

The Paris, FR Eras Tour Surprise Songs

After Swift returned to the Eras Tour from her two-month break, the show changed a lot to incorporate her new album The Tortured Poets Department . But she did keep her surprise songs gimmick. As fans guessed, she performed her Midnight bonus track “Paris” as a tribute to the city.

And to honor her new album, Swift’s second surprise song was the heartbreaking ballad “loml .”

Swift vented about some exes during her second night in Paris. First, she mashed up her 1989 songs "Is It Over Now?" and "Out of the Woods ," both of which are speculated to be about Harry Styles .

Then, she delivered the live debut of "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys" from Tortured Poets Department , thought to be inspired by her relationship with Matty Healy.

For her guitar song, Swift sang the Fearless throwback " Hey Stephen ."

She followed that up with " Maroon ," marking the fifth time it’s been a surprise song.

Swift delivered one of her most joyful surprise song sets for her 87th Eras Tour show, given that her boyfriend Travis Kelce was in the audience and 87 is his jersey number. She delivered a mashup of "The Alchemy" and "Treacherous" as a tribute to Kelce .

She capped off her time in Paris by with a full-circle moment, reprising the first surprise song she sang in the city and combining it with "Begin Again ."

The Singapore Eras Tour Surprise Songs

For her guitar mashup, Swift combined “Foolish One” with “Tell Me Why .”

She got extra romantic for her second surprise mashup — marrying “This Love” with “Call It What You Want .”

Swift’s first mashup on March 7 took the whole crowd by surprise. After launching into fan-favorite “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” she combined the song with her lesser-known Sugarland feature “Babe .”

The Sydney, AUS Eras Tour Surprise Songs

February 23

For Swift’s first Eras Tour performance in Sydney, she played “ How You Get The Girl ” on guitar. Then, Sabrina Carpenter (who’s been opening for Swift on tour) came on stage to sing a mashup of “White Horse” and “Coney Island” with her.

February 24

Sydney truly won in the surprise songs department. On her second night, Swift whipped out her guitar to perform a mix of two older tracks : “Should’ve Said No” from her self-titled debut, and “You’re Not Sorry” on Fearless . Later that night, she retired behind the piano and sang a mashup of Reputation’ s “New Year’s Day” and “Peace” from Folklore .

February 25

The Sydney mashups continued. Swift first started with a 1989 (both original and Taylor’s Version ) blend of “Is It Over Now” and “I Wish You Would.” She then darkened the setlist, performing a mix of Speak Now’ s “Haunted” and “Exile” off Folklore .

February 26

For her final night in Sydney, Swift fully leaned into her mashup era with ease. Her first blend began with “Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve” from Midnights and “Ivy” from Evermore , which felt on par with her green-hued dress. Later that night, she brought out her traditional piano and performed Fearless’ “Forever & Always” and Maroon from Midnights .

The Melbourne, AUS Eras Tour Surprise Songs

February 16.

Swift kicked off her Melbourne surprise set with her hit single, “Red .”

The first song may have been super well-known, but Swift went obscure for her second pick. After telling the crowd she’s never performed this track live before , Swift launched into her Midnights bonus track “You’re Losing Me .”

February 17

For Melbourne night two, Swift sang a mashup of songs from three different eras — Fearless , Reputation , and Folklore . She surprised crowds by combining “Getaway Car,” “August,” and “The Other Side Of The Door” on guitar.

Switching over to piano, Swift sang, “ This Is Me Trying .” She previously performed the track as a surprise song during one of her Arizona shows, but played it on guitar at the time.

February 18

Keeping with the trend of performing mashups, Swift sang a combination of “Come Back... Be Here and “Daylight” on guitar. She then performed “ Teardrops on My Guitar ” on piano.

The Tokyo, JPN Eras Tour Surprise Songs

At long last, Swift’s Eras Tour returned in 2024 with her Tokyo shows. Fittingly, her first surprise song was “ Dear Reader, ” a nod to her recently announced 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department .

Swift also performed “Holy Ground” for the Tokyo crowd.

Swift included a truly deep cut in her Feb. 8 show. She performed her Hunger Games single “Eyes Open” live for the first time ever .

She kept the niche love going by singing the vault track “Electric Touch” live for the first time.

For Night 3 in Tokyo, Swift sang “Superman” for her guitar section.

And after she sat down at the piano, Swift threw it all the way back to one of the first songs she’d ever written: “ The Outside .”

February 10

She closed out her Tokyo performances with the Fearless track “Come In With the Rain .”

And finally, the last song she played before jetting off to watch her boyfriend play in the Super Bowl was “ You’re On Your Own, Kid .” Swifties speculated that she chose this song as an ode to Travis Kelce , considering they met when Kelce tried to give her a friendship bracelet (an Eras staple inspired by a line in that song).

The São Paulo, BRA Eras Tour Surprise Songs

November 24.

For her first night in São Paulo, Swift performed her 1989 (Taylor’s Version) vault track “Now That We Don’t Talk” live for the first time .

She then took to her piano to sing “Innocent .”

November 25

She also gifted her Brazilian fans with a live performance of “Safe & Sound ,” the song she wrote for The Hunger Games .

Swift then performed “Untouchable .”

November 26

The third night of São Paulo was bittersweet for Swifties, many of whom were theorizing that Swift may use her final 2023 concert to announce Reputation (Taylor’s Version) . But ultimately, that long-awaited “I Did Something Bad” surprise song didn’t come. Instead, Swift live-debuted her recently released vault track “Say Don’t Go .”

Her final surprise song of the year was “ It’s Time to Go .”

Swift also gave the crowd a major update about her future surprise songs for 2024. She told the crowd that she would be repeating surprise songs for the next leg of her tour, making a completely blank slate to choose any song she wanted.

The Rio De Janeiro, BRA Eras Tour Surprise Songs

November 17.

On her first night in Rio de Janeiro, Swift sang “Stay Beautiful” for the crowd.

She also treated them to the live debut of “Suburban Legends .”

Then, she went to the piano to sing “ Bigger Than the Whole Sky .”

November 20

For her final night in Rio de Janeiro, Swift performed an acoustic version of her single “Me! ”

But the real conversation starter was Swift’s second surprise song. She took to the piano to sing “So It Goes... ,” which fans were quick to point out was one of the two Reputation tracks she had not yet performed on the tour. To drive the point home even more, Swift winked during the performance .

Swifties took the “So It Goes...” choice as an indication that she is about to announce Reputation (Taylor’s Version) , a project she’s been subtly teasing for a while now . The theory is that whenever Swift finally performs her last Rep song, “I Did Something Bad,” she’ll use that to announce when her re-release of the album will drop.

The Buenos Aries, ARG Eras Tour Surprise Songs

After more than two months away from the Eras stage, Swift returned with her Red (Taylor’s Version) vault track “ The Very First Night .”

She also performed her Midnights song “ Labyrinth .”

These two song choices were incredibly interesting, given it was Swift’s first performance since she began dating her new boyfriend, Travis Kelce . Fans were quick to point out how both songs were about the romantic beginnings of a new relationship , with “The Very First Night” in particular having the lyric, “I was riding in the car when we both fell.” Swift and Kelce memorably drove off together after their first public appearance at one of Kelce’s games.

November 11

For the first time in the Eras Tour, Swift performed a special mashup for one of her surprise songs. She combined her newly released vault track “ Is It Over Now?” with “Out of the Woods .”

It was her second surprise song that really raised eyebrows. Swift sang her Reputation track “End Game ,” which carried extra meaning since her boyfriend Travis Kelce was in attendance . The song had become a top pick for Swifties when making romantic edits of Swift and Kelce, given the sports references in its lyrics and “big reputation” chant .

November 12

To close out her Buenos Aries dates, Swift surprised the crowd with “ Better Than Revenge .”

She then sang “Slut! ,” a vault track off her newly released 1989 (Taylor’s Version) .

Swift made sure to give the fans what they wanted on her third night in Mexico City. She introduced her performance of “Cornelia Street ” by noting it was a song she’d been hearing a lot of requests for throughout her tour.

She then sang "You're on Your Own, Kid ," making it the first surprise song to get three performances on the Eras Tour.

The “You’re on Your Own, Kid” record didn’t last long, though. On her final night in Mexico City, Swift performed “Maroon” for the third time .

She also sang her Lover ballad “ Afterglow .”

The Los Angeles, CA Eras Tour Surprise Songs

For the first show in the final city of the U.S. leg of her tour, Swift performed her newly released Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) vault track “ I Can See You .”

She followed that up with " You Are in Love ."

For her third night in L.A., Swift sang her fan-favorite Lover track " Death by a Thousand Cuts ."

And had the whole crowd in their feelings during " You're on Your Own, Kid ."

The greatness continued on her fourth night in L.A. There, she performed “Dress” from Reputation . However, instead of incorporating the track’s original synths, she stripped it down to an acoustic version.

She continued the mellow vibes with her Folklore gem, “ Exile .”

Swift continued her Reputation streak on her fifth L.A. stop. She performed “King Of My Heart ” to an emotional crowd, who belted the lyrics as passionately as Swift did.

Afterward, she took a trip down 1989 with “I Know Places.” Similar to “Dress” from the night before, she swapped the original tune’s synth-y production for a guitar solo.

For Swifties, this was certainly the night *not* to miss. During her final night in the City of Angels, Swift announced her re-recording of 1989 would release on Oct. 27. She also performed some surprises.

She then performed her newly released vault track " When Emma Falls in Love " live for the first time. Although the song was new, fans had already put together theories it may be about Emma Stone .

Since there was no July 9 tour date, Swift had to perform "Last Kiss " a day early.

She closed out her Kansas City weekend with a surprise performance of "Dorothea ."

The Cincinnati, OH Eras Tour Surprise Songs

Her first surprise song for Cincinnati was “ I'm Only Me When I'm with You .”

She followed that up with the title track of her ninth studio album, “ Evermore .”

Swift had a message for her fans before performing “Dear John .” She urged them to not “feel the need to defend me on the internet against someone you think I might have written a song about 14 billion years ago.” Of course, this was likely referencing the increased hate John Mayer received online ahead of the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) .

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is a cultural phenomenon. With unprecedented demand, smashed world records and a staggering 44-song setlist, the Eras tour spans Swift’s entire discography, chronicling all the various eras and albums of the Midnights singer’s career.

From the mad scramble to buy tickets that crashed Ticketmaster’s website to guest appearances from the likes of Taylor Lautner, Joey King, Haim and Phoebe Bridgers, Swift brings new surprises for her fans at each stop.

As the first round of Swift’s Eras Tour approaches its last dates in Los Angeles, The Hollywood Reporter has compiled the biggest highlights from the tour so far.

Fans Crash Ticketmaster Presale

A ticketmaster website

Before the Eras Tour even began, it was making history. During the rush to buy tickets after five-plus years of waiting, the retailer site Ticketmaster crumbled, with many experiencing multiple hour-long waits and the majority of fans not being able to secure tickets. According to Ticketmaster, the demand was unprecedented and led to no tickets being available as a part of the general sale. Ticket prices soared above $1,000 for the cheapest seats on the resale market, leading to congressional hearings that included more than a few tongue-in-cheek Swift references.

Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift (L) and NBA player Kobe Bryant speak onstage during The 1989 World Tour Live In Los Angeles at Staples Center on August 21, 2015 in Los Angeles, California.

It’s a nightly ritual at the Eras Tour for Swift to gift her black fedora hat to one lucky fan in the audience during her performance of Red hit song “22.” At an Arlington, Texas, show on April 1, Swift stopped to say hello to Selena Gomez’s 9-year-old sister, Gracie, who was in attendance with the Only Murders in the Building star, to exchange the hat for a friendship bracelet. Similarly, during her Thursday night show at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, the Eras performer shared a sweet moment with Kobe Bryant’s daughter Bianka Bryant. The pair hugged as Swift placed the hat on Bianka’s head.

In 2015, the late Lakers legend joined Swift onstage at the then-Staples Center during her 1989 tour, surprising her with a championship-style banner in honor of her record-breaking 16 sold-out shows at the arena.

'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)' Announced in Nashville

At her first Nashville stop on May 5, Swift treated fans to the highly anticipated announcement that album rerelease Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) would drop on July 7. As expected, the artist teased the announcement days before the show, posting a purple heart emoji on social media. Before launching into Speak Now track and surprise song of the night “Sparks Fly,” Swift debuted a first look at the album cover on the big screens of Nissan Stadium, while purple lights lit up the Nashville’s Cumberland River bridge.

“You know how I love to plan things, and how I love to surprise you with the things I plan,” she said onstage. “It’s my love language with you — I plot, I scheme, I plan and I get to tell you about it.”

It fills me with such pride and joy to announce that my version of Speak Now will be out July 7 (just in time for July 9th, iykyk 😆) I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. Haim Takes the Stage for "No Body, No Crime"

Este Haim, Taylor Swift, Danielle Haim and Alana Haim perform onstage during Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour at Levi's Stadium on July 28, 2023 in Santa Clara, California.

Swift’s real-life besties from sibling trio band Haim joined the Speak Now singer onstage in Seattle on July 22. Together, the friends performed their Evermore collab “No Body, No Crime,” marking the first live performance of the song on the Eras Tour. With the girl band announced as one of the opening acts for the tour, fans expected Haim to appear at least once to perform alongside Swift.

Ice Spice Collabs With Swift on "Karma" Remix

Ice Spice and Taylor Swift perform onstage during "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour" at MetLife Stadium on May 27, 2023 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

On the day she released the Midnights album extended version The Til Dawn Edition , Swift brought out one of her newest collaborators Ice Spice onto New Jersey’s Metlife Stadium stage. The rapper, who features on a remix edition of Midnights hit song “Karma,” joined Swift onstage to perform her verse and close out the show for three nights in a row.

Phoebe Bridgers Performs Vault Track "Nothing New" While Opening for Swift

Phoebe Bridgers and Taylor Swift perform onstage during night two of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour at Nissan Stadium on May 06, 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Across the Nashville, Philadelphia, Massachusetts and New Jersey legs of the tour, Phoebe Bridgers joined Swift as not only an opening act, but also a stage partner. With acoustic guitars in hand, Bridgers and Swift took to the Eras stage multiple times to perform their fan-favorite vault track from Red (Taylor’s Version) , “Nothing New.” On Bridgers’ final night on the tour at MetLife, the friends shared heartfelt goodbyes on stage. “You are my hero,” Bridgers told Swift onstage, with Swift responding: “Thank you for being the friend that you’ve been to me.”

“Long Live” Is Added to the Set List

Taylor Swift performs onstage during "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour" at SoFi Stadium on August 03, 2023 in Inglewood, California.

After the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) , fan-favorite song “Long Live” off the album entered the set list. Presumably, until that point Swift had previously avoided performing too many songs off of Speak Now so as not to promote any tracks owned by Scooter Braun.

"I Can See You" Video Drops With Special Guest Appearances: Taylor Lautner, Presley Cash and Joey King

(L-R) Presley Cash, Taylor Swift, Joey King and Taylor Lautner speak onstage for night one of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on July 07, 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri.

The hit single off Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) was the new “From the Vault” track “I Can See You,” which became a radio hit and charted on Billboard. To announce the music video she directed for the track, Swift brought out the video’s stars, including ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner along with Presley Cash and Joey King, on stage at the Eras Tour in Kansas City. Lautner performed a backflip, a nod to his scene with Swift in the 2010 film Valentine’s Day. “He and his wife have become some of my closest friends, and it’s very convenient because we all share the same first name,” said Swift onstage during the video announcement.

Two Surprise Songs at Each Show

Taylor Swift The Eras Tour

Every single stop of the tour, Taylor Swift has performed two surprise songs that are unique to that tour stop, only repeating a handful of tracks from amongst her vast discography. Fans have tracked the songs online via Twitter — even maintaining complex spread sheets — hoping to get one of their favorites that isn’t a part of the main set list as a “surprise song.” Highlights have included “Hits Different,” “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “Our Song,” “Tim McGraw” and many more.

Taylor Swift Fans Cause an Earthquake

Guests attend the "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour" at SoFi Stadium on August 03, 2023 in Inglewood, California.

At the Eras Tour stop in Seattle, fans partied so hard they caused the equivalent of a small earthquake . This rivaled Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch’s “Beast Quake” from 2011, thought Swift came out as the clear winner when measured on the Richter scale.

Taylor Swift Announces ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’

Taylor Swift performs onstage of "Taylor Swift The Eras Tour"

On the last night of the first leg of her U.S. tour, Swift revealed that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) will release Oct. 27. Throughout her performance at sixth night of Eras Tour shows at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, the singer teased the announcement by wearing several blue outfits to celebrate the occasion. Following the announcement, fans were treated to 1989 track “New Romantics.” The rerecorded version will feature 21 songs, including five previously unreleased songs from The Vault as described on Swift’s website.

“Surprise!! 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is on its way to you,” Swift wrote on social media. “The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th. To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!”

What Is Taylor Swift's Next Album & When Does It Release?

The 2 taylor swift songs still missing from the eras tour movie (taylor's version), taylor swift: the eras tour movie ending - why midnights is the final era.

  • Fans can hear "Our Song" and "You're On Your Own, Kid" (again) in a perfect post-credits acoustic set.
  • The Eras Tour Movie (Taylor's Version) offers a thrilling live experience thanks to the movie filming across three of Swift's LA show dates.
  • Newer versions of the film enhance the fan experience with additional tracks, a 3.5-hour runtime, and an acoustic set.

After hitting Disney+, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Movie (Taylor's Version) has repeat viewers and newcomers to the concert film alike wondering why the pop star plays two of her hit songs twice. As in other cuts of The Eras Tour Movie , two of Taylor Swift's surprise song picks from her Los Angeles shows, "Our Song" and "You're On Your Own, Kid," play during the main set. However, the tracks pop up again in the post-credits acoustic set. While Swift has proven to be an incredibly intentional artist , there may not be a secret meaning behind the choice.

Conceived as a musical journey through the "eras" of Taylor Swift's career, The Eras Tour packs as many crowd-pleasing hits as it can into its three-hour runtime. Since Swift couldn't play everything, she decided to feature a special mini-acoustic set during each of her concerts; Swift's surprise songs in said Eras Tour sets changed nightly , making for a thrilling live experience. Filmed across several nights at her LA shows, The Eras Tour Movie cut down the number of tracks for its theatrical release, and, echoing the live show, featured just two of Swift's beloved acoustic performances.

Taylor Swift's 11th studio album already has a scheduled release date, with the tracklist & editions also being confirmed before ending The Eras Tour.

Taylor Swift Repeating "Our Song" & "You're On Your Own, Kid" Makes The Acoustic Set Complete

The eras tour movie (taylor's version) has a perfect post-credits scene..

In whittling down the initial setlist for The Eras Tour Movie 's theatrical release, Swift and director Sam Wrench chose to keep the movie-going experience authentic to the live show by selecting just two of the singer's secret songs. With plenty of fan-favorites to pick from, the Eras Tour Movie settled on "Our Song," an oldie from Swift's self-titled debut album, and "You're On Your Own, Kid," a tug-at-the-heartstrings hit from her latest Grammy-winning album, Midnights . When Disney's biggest 2024 movie arrived on VOD, the lengthier version added previously cut songs back in.

Hearing both "Our Song" and "You're On Your Own, Kid" again is surprising at first...

After Disney+ acquired exclusive streaming rights to the flick, Swift announced that the release would be yet another new cut of the film — Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Movie (Taylor's Version) . One of the biggest surprises is The Eras Tour Movie (Taylor's Version) 's pitch-perfect post-credits scene : a complete acoustic set of all Swift's surprise songs from the LA show dates. Hearing both "Our Song" and "You're On Your Own, Kid" again is surprising at first, but the repeats allow the acoustic set to exist as its own, whole sequence without taking away from the main set.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) on Disney+ includes eight more songs than the theatrical release, but these two songs were still cut.

The Acoustic Songs Make Taylor's Version Way Better Than Previous Eras Tour Movie Releases

Taylor swift's concert is (almost) complete..

Each new cut of The Eras Tour Movie has only improved the faux-concert-going experience. While the video-on-demand variant added in missing fan-favorite tunes like 1989 's "Wildest Dreams," The Eras Tour Movie (Taylor's Version) boasts five additional tracks, making it the perfect viewing experience for Taylor Swift completionists. Not only does the Disney+ Eras Tour allow fans to hear "cardigan," her Grammy-nominated single from the folklore era, but it gives viewers the chance to experience rare acoustic versions of some of Swift's biggest songs.

The Eras Tour Movie (Taylor's Version) clocks in at 3 hours and 30 minutes.

In total, four tracks were added to the post-credits "surprise songs" section : "Death By a Thousand Cuts," "Maroon," "You Are In Love," and "I Can See You." Those four selections join (sort-of) reprisals of "Our Song" and "You're On Your Own, Kid," which means viewers could tune into the acoustic section for a pretty complete experience. Although the repetition of two surprise songs might feel strange at first, the post-credits sequence definitely adds an enjoyable dimension to the latest cut of The Eras Tour Movie . Plus, it's hard to complain about hearing two of Swift's songs twice.

Taylor Swift ends her lengthy set in The Eras Tour movie with tracks from Midnights, and there's a very reasonable explanation as to why.

What's Still Missing From The Eras Tour Movie (Taylor's Version)

Not every taylor swift song made the cut..

The inclusion of "Maroon" and "I Can See You," the surprise-song pairing from Swift's August 3, 2023, show, confirm which three nights The Eras Tour Movie filmed . "Our Song" and "You're On Your Own, Kid" were pulled from the singer's August 4 and 5 shows (respectively), which all but confirmed the use of "Death By a Thousand Cuts" and "You Are In Love." That said, The Eras Tour Movie (Taylor's Version) includes almost everything: sadly, "seven," the song-poem interlude from the folklore section, and "No Body, No Crime," which Swift performed with HAIM, are still missing.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Movie (Taylor's Version) is streaming exclusively on Disney+.

Surprise songs and what Swifties should expect from Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film

EW has seen the new movie — we break down what made the cut, what didn't, and more.

our song eras tour

Swifties, are you ready for it?

By "it," of course we mean the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film , which is now streaming on Disney+ after a theatrical run last fall that earned almost $262 million worldwide. If you missed it then — or just want to watch again and again — here's what you need to know about the concert film.

For instance, the movie, which was filmed across the first three nights of her six-night stop in Los Angeles in August, includes almost all the songs from the Eras Tour setlist as it appeared at that point in time — below, we'll dive into which songs didn't make the final cut like Taylor dove into the trap door of that stage every night.

The film — directed by Sam Wrench, who has worked with everyone from BTS to Lizzo to Billie Eilish , and even American Idol — was a massive box-office success before it even hit theaters, earning more than $100 million in advance global ticket sales, surpassing the entire run of 2011's Justin Bieber: Never Say Never , which previously held the record for highest-grossing concert film with $99 million. Demand was so high, in fact, that prior to the movie's premiere, Swift and theaters agreed to add more early showings.

But, true to form, Swift remained cryptic and Machiavellian about some the film's key points before it opened. For instance, each of the three nights the concert was filmed, she performed two different surprise songs during the acoustic set, meaning there were six different possibilities for the film in that section of the show. Fans speculated for weeks about which two would appear in it, or if Swift would do a shortened medley of all of them, or something else entirely. Fans also wondered if the Eras Tour film would contain bloopers or behind-the-scenes content like the Reputation tour film did? Or maybe she would announce something at the end?

EW attended the world premiere of the Eras Tour concert film in October, where we swapped friendship bracelets and got to shake it off sitting just rows away from Swift as she danced along to the concert. Here's what we learned about the film.

What surprise songs are featured in 'Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour' film?

As mentioned above, Swift performed six different songs during the acoustic "surprise song" section of the setlist while the movie was being filmed. Those six songs are: "I Can See You," "Maroon," "Our Song," "You Are in Love," "Death by a Thousand Cuts," and "You're on Your Own, Kid." Ultimately, just two are in the film: "Our Song" (on guitar) and "You're on Your Own, Kid" (on piano).

Why is the film shorter than the concert? Was anything cut?

Though the massive, career-spanning tour setlist clocks in at over three hours and 15 minutes, the film is only listed at around two hours and 45 minutes. As expected, outfit changes and transitions were shortened. And five songs that she performed at the L.A. shows didn't make the final cut: "No Body, No Crime" with Haim; "Long Live" in the Speak Now era; "Wildest Dreams" from 1989 ; "The Archer" from Lover ; and Folklore's "Cardigan."

Is there a blooper reel or any behind-the-scenes content?

While the L.A. performance of "Long Live" wasn't included, the credits rolled over a recording of the song as we see footage of fans and bloopers from the tour — like Swift's hand getting caught on her dress, and when her dress flew over her head as she twirled.

What is new in the concert film?

The joy you feel watching it over and over again.

When and where is the film streaming?

The concert film was available for VOD rentals on Swift's birthday on Dec. 13, and the new version of the film featured the performances of "Wildest Dreams," "The Archer" and "Long Live" tacked on at the end, but not the other two songs missing from the theatrical version, "No Body No Crime" and "Cardigan." On March 14, the Taylor's Version of the film was released to streaming on Disney+, and this time, it features all of those tracks placed in their rightful order in the setlist, with the exception of "No Body No Crime," presumably since it was a performance with Haim unique to only a small handful of Eras Tour dates, and the concert film is more inclusive of the tour as a whole. The new streaming version also includes all of the surprise songs Swift filmed over the first three nights in L.A. as part of a special "acoustic collection" at the end of the credits. That consisted of "You're On Your Own, Kid," "Our Song," "I Can See You," "Maroon," "You Are in Love," and "Death by a Thousand Cuts."

Any fan seeing “ Taylor Swift : The Eras Tour” won’t be in for a huge number of surprises when it comes to the movie setlist, which largely follows the template that was locked into place — with a few exceptions or switch-outs — through the entire five-month 2023 U.S. tour. But there are a few choices that couldn’t exactly have been predicted. (Scroll down to see the full movie setlist.)

On the positive side, fans finally learned at Wednesday night’s premiere in L.A. which pair of songs got picked to represent the tour’s nightly “secret songs” segment, and most were quite pleased at the choices.

Popular on variety.

Both these songs had been performed previously in the wild-card slot on the tour, semi-breaking her rule that she would not repeat any songs chosen for those spots unless she flubbed them the first time. Judging from the results, she may have felt it was worth bending the rules a little to get those in the movie. The other four songs she performed as wild cards in those three nights of filming that presumably could have been in the movie were “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “Maroon” (both of these also repeated songs from earlier in the tour), “You Are in Love” and “I Can See You.”

So, which are the dropped songs that made at least some fans feel like they were suffering death from, like, five cuts?

Those were “The Archer,” “No Body, No Crime” (featuring Haim), “Long Live,” “Cardigan” and her condensed version of “Wildest Dreams.”

There were songs that had only been a part of a set earlier in the tour which did not make the movie either, of course. Those are “‘Tis the Damn Season,” which got played every night except when Haim was opening and it was deemed expendable in the service of adding “No Body, No Crime”; “Nothing New,” which only got performed the 12 times in which Phoebe Bridgers was on hand as opening act and able to sing her duet part in the main set; and “Invisible String,” which only got played the first five nights of the tour, before it was replaced by “The 1,” although it was brought back just once, for a May show in Nashville. (Swift said she was reviving it that night in honor of a bench dedicated to her being placed in Centennial Park, which is mentioned in the tune.)

It’s believed Swift dropped the five regular setlist songs that were presumably filmed in L.A. but not used to keep the running time for the movie manageable. The film clocks in at a breezy — well, breezy to Swifties — 2 hours and 45 minutes, versus the even more epic 3 hours and 25 minutes that some of the concerts ran to by the time the tour reached L.A.

Other, less noticeable nips and tucks were made to cut about 40 minutes out of the L.A. concerts. A nightly standing ovation after “Champagne Problems” that had grown to more than seven minutes by the end of the tour got reduced to less than a minute for movie purposes. A spoken-word recitation of part of “Seven” that opened the “Folklore” segment was snipped. And the seven moments in which Swift disappeared from the stage for a costume change between “eras” all obviously made for easy trims. (Swift was truly the master of the quick-change on this tour, though; those time-outs were clocked and just about all were timed at two minutes or less, accounting for only about 15 minutes of the concerts’ running time.)

Some fans are disappointed that not every setlist staple made it into the movie, but given that 40 out of 45 songs did, there are a couple of ways to look at it: that the glass is about 10% empty, or about 90% full.

“Long Live” does make an appearance in the film, by the way, just not in a live rendition. “Long Live (Taylor’s Version)” plays over the end credits, which also feature a combination of fan footage and rehearsal bloopers.

Taylor Swift Played ‘Our Song’ At The Eras Tour And Fans Are Ecstatic About Hearing The Throwback Live

We're asking Taylor Swift if she could play it again.

Taylor Swift on Speak Now Tour singing Sparks Fly video

The Swifties at the Las Vegas show got the surprise song of all surprise songs, in my opinion, as Taylor Swift decided to sing the tune that really shot her into fame during night three of The Eras Tour. While the pop star’s tour encompasses all her eras , one album that doesn't get a lot of stage time is her debut self-titled album, and fans seem to be hoping that during the surprise section of the show she plays a song from Taylor Swift live. Before night three she had only performed “Tim McGraw,” however, fans at the latest show were in for a treat as she sang the smash hit “Our Song” for the first time in years.

Many Swifities took to TikTok to post their videos of Swift singing “Our Song,” and subsequently, the comments were full of fans gushing over the acoustic performance of the OG hit. One fan, arianna.pesci posted a closeup video of the “Anti-Hero” singer jamming out to one of her oldest songs, check it out:

Just like how fans freaked out about Swift's stage dive into her stage and her doing the viral TikTok dance to “Bejeweled,” they couldn’t contain their excitement about the performance of “Our Song.” Many noted just how sentimental the tune was to them, like Heather Terrace, who commented:

Hearing grown Taylor sing Our Song has given me literally chills. My first favorite song from her and continues to remain in my top songs

Many others posted incredibly enthusiastic comments as well about how much the song means to them, and how excited they were to see that it was performed live:

  • babe wake up it’s our song (taylor’s version) -raven
  • THE CROWD IS SO LOUD -amrutha s.
  •  OH MY GOD THEY WON -Kay2Esso
  • it’s 6AM and i’m crying to our song (taylor’s version) - :o
  • it was the best feeling screaming along to this tonight! -Taylor
  • I’ve been waiting my entire adult life for this -Hannah Dennison

Fans were also commenting about how they were hoping “Our Song” would be the surprise song at their respective shows so they could jam out like Laura Dern and Emma Stone were during opening night. Not going to lie, I feel them, I was also hoping this song would be on my show’s set list, however Swift had a great reason for performing it in Vegas.

Swift said she was inspired to sing the song at the Las Vegas show because her opening act beabadoobee had mentioned in an interview how much she loved the singer’s debut album, and specifically “Our Song,” as draytonpeterson caught the moment in a video they posted on TikTok. The “Blank Space” singer said:

So for her first show with us, I’ll play the specific song that she said she wanted to hear. So, this is a song that, well I wrote it for my ninth-grade talent show, it’s called ‘Our Song.’

How sweet is that? It’s so sweet to know that the pop star chose to perform “Our Song” specifically for her opening act. Plus, for all of us Swifties who have yet to see the concert, Swift has so many upcoming projects , re-releases and likely surprises coming up, I’m sure no matter what show you end up at she will always have something new up her sleeve.

Taylor Swift’s entire set is packed with meaning like this. The detail in her productions shows that she wants to give everyone the best show possible, no matter what seat they’re in. Plus, the songs she chose to include honor not only her career, but her loved ones too, like how she emotionally sings a song about her grandmother every night. The surprise songs are just the cherry on top of an already amazing concert.

With every new stop on The Eras Tour, Swift will be playing two songs that aren’t on the permanent setlist, and while “Our Song” probably won’t be sung again, we’ll always have this sweet moment to look back on, and tons of songs to look forward to.

Taylor Swift Is ‘Ready for the Next Era of Her Life’ After Tour: What She and Travis Kelce Want for 2025

Travis Kelce didn’t accompany girlfriend Taylor Swift to the MTV VMAs on September 11, but she made sure his presence was felt when she took home a Moon Man — her seventh of the night — for Video of the Year for her song “Fortnight.” After thanking her collaborators, including Post Malone , Swift turned the focus to Kelce, saying she’ll never forget how he cheered her on between takes on the set. “Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic,” she said as the crowd cheered excitedly. “So I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because I will always remember that.”

The sweet shout-out came on the heels of a whirlwind — and highly visible — week for the pair. On September 8, their PDA lovefest stole the show at the U.S. Open, where they kissed, danced and at one point passionately sang the 2003 Darkness song “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” to each other. In the days prior, they hit up Brooklyn hotspot Lucali and attended the wedding of model Karen Elson at Electric Lady Studios. The outings — along with Swift’s gushing VMAs acceptance speech — quickly helped dispel rumors that the couple have been faking their relationship for PR purposes. On September 2, phony documents outlining a media breakup plan for Kelce and Swift went viral; Kelce’s PR firm, Full Scope, threatened to take legal action over the “false and fabricated” papers, which bore the company’s logo.

It’s become clear that the romance between the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the Grammy-winning singer is as real as it gets, and their connection has only gotten stronger amid public scrutiny and the challenges that come with high-profile, high-pressure careers. “They’ve built a lot of trust. They both knew what they signed up for and navigated it well,” a source exclusively shares in the latest Us Weekly cover story. “They’re in love and don’t care what others think.”

Now, after more than a year of dating, they’re entering a new phase of their relationship as Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour winds down. “Taylor and Travis are very committed and serious about their future,” says a second source. “Taylor is ready for the next era of her life. She knows it will be special.”

Savoring the Moments

Swift and Kelce are making the most of her break before she hits the road again in late October for the final dates of her tour, which ends on December 8 after a 152-show run. “It’s been amazing since Taylor and Travis reunited,” says the first source, adding that they’ve been “loving every minute together” since Swift returned to the States in late August. They hung out at her $17 million Rhode Island home last month with a host of A-list pals, including Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper and Jason and Kylie Kelce .

“Taylor’s been working nonstop and wanted to spend some time there while the weather is still good,” a source previously told Us . “It was really the first time everyone had come together in one place in a long time.”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Relationship Timeline: From Chiefs Games to Private Date Nights

One of Swift and Kelce’s favorite things to do is hunker down at home and enjoy each other’s company. “They are both chill people who love their downtime,” says the first source, adding that their secret date nights are decidedly simple: “Staying in is a luxury for them. They enjoy cooking dinner together. It’s a refreshing contrast to their [public] lives.” The second source says they’ve found a “good balance” between hitting the town and lying low.

Swift will spend the next few weeks attending as many Chiefs games as she can (she was in attendance for the season opener on September 5). “She loves cheering Travis on and supporting him as much as he loves cheering her on,” the first source says. (Kelce hit up his 14th Eras Tour concert on July 18 in Germany, a few days before the Chiefs’ training camp began.) Adds the second source: “Taylor has come to love football and is really excited the season is back.” (Kelce recently confirmed Swift has been drawing up plays for him.) “She’s loved being around the football community,” says the source. “It’s a reprieve from work for her, and Travis is excited she’s fully ingrained in his world.” Swift will likely be on hand to celebrate his October 5 birthday with family and friends at his Kelce Car Jam in Kansas City.

In It to Win It

They’ve been having “serious conversations” about what’s next, says the second source. “Taylor has expressed how excited she is to settle down after her tour concludes. They’re on the same page.” The first source says friends hope an engagement is around the corner. “They both see marriage as something they want sooner rather than later, and they both want kids. Taylor has always [been excited by] the idea of marriage and starting a family. She just hadn’t found The One until now.” Kelce is also ready to take things up a level and “has dropped hints to those close to him,” says the source. (In a September 10 interview with Us , rapper — and Swiftie — Flavor Flav even said he’d love to officiate their wedding!)

Taylor Swift’s Dating History: A Timeline of Her Famous Exes and Flings

It’s going to be a busy couple of months. Kelce’s new Ryan Murphy FX series, Grotesquerie , is out September 25 and his game show, Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? , premieres October 16. He and his brother also signed a massive $100 million deal for their "New Heights" podcast, and he’s set to make a cameo in Adam Sandler ’s upcoming Happy Gilmore sequel . “Taylor is happy for Travis’ success,” notes the first source, “and encourages him to go for new opportunities.”

Swift hasn’t made any big decisions about her post-tour career plans just yet. “She’s looking forward to taking a break and relaxing. She’s exhausted,” the source says, adding that Swift is ready to focus on herself and her future with Kelce. “That’s the plan for 2025,” says the second source. “Taylor’s really eager to start the next chapter with Travis.”
