Houston-based rapper RiFF RAFF has announced a massive U.S. tour commencing later in 2023 behind his most recent album 'Vanilla Gorilla' . His Always On Tour kicks off October 6th in Sanford and continues into November visiting cities like Pittsburgh, Rochester, Chicago, Los Angeles and Austin. Joining the tour in support will be special guest Dollabillgates. The new outing follows up 2021's Ultraviolet Pirate Tour which was joined by DJ Whoo Kid .

RiFF RAFF released his fifth studio album 'Vanilla Gorilla' on June 26, 2020 via Neon Nation, Empire and Beatrap Sound. The new album features guest appearances by Yelawolf , Snoop Dogg , Soulja Boy , HoodRich Pablo Juan , 24hrs and Drummxnd among others. Back in 2018, the rapper launched his Neon Black Tour across America along with support from Podeezy, John Sisco, 2 Stoned and Dollabillgates. Two year prior, his Peach Panther Tour was joined by Trill Sammy , Dice SoHo and Dollabillgates.

Following more than a dozen sold-out shows across the US this spring, Hurray for the Riff Raff (aka Alynda Segarra) has announced a US summer tour. Beginning in early July, a new leg of headline dates will stop in cities that have yet to experience the live show of The Past Is Still Alive , the acclaimed album that has Vulture calling Segarra “one of America’s best songwriters." Upcoming performances also include Hurray for the Riff Raff’s Red Rocks debut and other amphitheater appearances with Norah Jones, as well as a homecoming set at New Orleans Jazz Festival, a return to NYC for a free concert in Battery Park, and more to be announced.

Following runs of more than a dozen sold-out shows across the US East and West Coasts this spring, Hurray for the Riff Raff (aka Alynda Segarra) has announced a summer tour bringing them back through the US after a European tour in May. Beginning in early July, a new leg of headline dates will stop in cities that have yet to experience the live show of The Past Is Still Alive , the acclaimed album that has Vulture calling Segarra (they/them) “one of America’s best songwriters." Upcoming performances also include Hurray for the Riff Raff’s Red Rocks debut and other amphitheater appearances with Norah Jones, as well as a homecoming set at New Orleans Jazz Festival, a return to NYC for a free concert in Battery Park on July 18, and more to be announced.

Out now on Nonesuch, The Past Is Still Alive is the record of Alynda Segarra’s life so far. Finding fans in everyone from Elton John to Eileen Myles, it has been hailed as “the next great American road album” ( The Atlantic ), through which Hurray for the Riff Raff is “etching their own story into the American songbook, and asserting that they belong there" ( New York Times ). Pitchfork named it Best New Music, NPR’s Ann Powers drew comparisons to Joni Mitchell’s Hejira and Lucinda Williams’ Car Wheels on a Gravel Road , and in a sweeping cover story, Paste declared it “the most important album of the 2020s so far.”

Produced by Brad Cook, The Past Is Still Alive is both a memoir and a roadmap to America's fringes, as Alynda Segarra uses portraits of their radical, itinerant experiences to deliver profound reflections on time, memory and loss. In addition to discussing the album with Elton John, NPR’s Morning Edition , the New York Times , Vulture , Vogue , Rolling Stone , Them , Paper , and more, they most recently performed three of the album’s highlights on CBS Saturday Morning : “Alibi,” “Hawkmoon” and “Buffalo." In the run-up to The Past Is Still Alive , Alynda Segarra also accepted The People's Voice Award at Folk Alliance International's 2024 International Folk Music Awards. Now, they are about to embark for a month of shows throughout the UK and EU. In partnership with PLUS1 , $1 per ticket in Northampton, Detroit, Indianapolis and Cincinnati will support This Must Be The Place and their work to distribute Naloxone—the lifesaving medicine that reverses an overdose, and will be available for free at every one of Hurray for the Riff Raff’s headline tour stops.

In ROBESON , Tines’ solo recording debut, the musician grapples with the legacy of a hero. Exploding the musical repertoire of Paul Robeson, Tines and his band the Truth—pianist John Bitoy and sound artist Khari Lucas—take listeners on a trip from the stage of Carnegie Hall to the floor of a Moscow hotel room in an attempt to understand an icon not through aspiring to his monumentality, but through connecting to his vulnerability. "Airplanes, and flying, is a recurring imagery in Laurie Anderson's music ever since her unexpected crossover hit 'O Superman' back in 1981," John Schaefer, host of WNYC's New Sounds , says of his guest. "She often takes a quizzical look at technology and flight has been no exception." Anderson was on the show to talk with Schaefer about her new album, Amelia , which tells the story of Amelia Earhart's last flight. Hurray for the riff raff sings in a sage-filled meadow at the aspen ideas festival.

This Field Recording almost didn’t happen. A heavy rain drenched the Aspen Ideas Festival campus two hours before we were scheduled to record with Alynda Segarra, aka Hurray for the Riff Raff . Thankfully, the sky dried out so Segarra, tourmate Johnny Wilson and our production team hiked up a grassy hill and down to this fragrant sage-filled meadow to record five stunning songs.

The setting was apt. Segarra’s music can be sweet and tender, like the leaves that blur parts of our camera shots, but their personal stories told through song are as wide-screen as the Elk Mountains in the background. What’s really impressive is how full this music sounds with only two guitars and the occasional harmonization from Wilson, who sings at just the right moments and complements Segarra’s melodic lines with perfect intonation.

Our Field Recording features stripped-down songs of love, loss and vulnerability from Hurray for the Riff Raff’s ninth album, The Past is Still Alive , one of our favorites of the year . Segarra wrote the lyrics to process their past trauma, current identity and dreams for a better future.

This was recorded on June 26, 2024, on the campus of the Aspen Ideas Festival.

Tuesday 17th October. Hurray for Riff Raff. Koko, London. It’s the quartet of the twin towers, Bird’s Eye, soon to be Monster, Andy and myself tonight. Securing a central spot in front of the balcony overhang which is essential for Koko to get a decent sound we await the talented Alynda Lee Segarra and her band.

Tonight is a celebration and remembrance of her Puerto Rican roots and the tough time that small island is going through at the moment.

What strikes you first is her physical similarity to PJ Harvey but as soon as she unleashes her instrument you are taken to another place with a voice like no other. At times its spellbinding, at times is uplifting, at times it brings you crashing back down to earth but it’s always moving. There are a number of ‘hair standing on the back of your neck moments’ and none more so than the battle cry that is Pa’lante.

The band tonight are tip top but a special mention to the keyboard player. Being brought up with Deep Purple and the late great Jon Lord I am a sucker for an organ and it really brings some depth, colour and variation from what could have been any other rock n roll show.

Touring on the back of the excellent ‘Navigator’ album we are treated to pretty much all of the album with a couple of oldies and the cheesy Springsteen cover of ‘Dancing in the Dark’ at the end to send everyone home with a spring in their step.

Highlights for the meet are at the two emotional extremes, the upbeat ‘Living for the City’ and the aforementioned ‘Pa’lante’.

I’ll leave you with this thought from the evening which we all strive for. ‘I just wanna fall in love, not fuck it up and feel something’.

It’s safe to say we all fell in love tonight and felt something.

An amazing evening with powerful women. The opening act, Carrie Rodriguez was perfect, heartfelt and a revelation. Too bad the Egg couldn't fill the house and get the proper audience for the talent. Also, the miking was just terrible for Alynda Segarra amazing voice and her background singer's vocals were non-existent.
