Testimonials
We have never done a tag-a-long tour before so we were a little nervous of how the dynamics of a big group would work. However, the cheerful and positive attitude of all the group was wonderful. Andrew and Renee were so organised, professional and fun to be with. It was terrific to see Tasmania with fresh eyes. Robyn & Bevan
Well organised, flexible to group requests, fantastic scenery, fun and laughter, new friends for life Vicki & Alex - The Great Tasmanian Adventure 2021
The patience and understanding that Renee & Andrew showed to us in our older years was so kind and helpful. We will always have fond memories of them both for all 3 tours we have had with them. Rita & Les - The Great Tasmanian Adventure 2021
Excellent way to visit new places, lots of fun along the way. Exceptional value for money lead by the very experienced Andrew & Renee Allan & Marg - The Great Tasmanian Adventure 2021
We have had Tasmania on our bucket list for a long time. The opportunity to join the Great Tasmania Adventure Tour was keenly accepted. From the day we paid our deposit we were fully informed of progress as covid border closures played a big part. Renee & Andrew then escorted us in a professional and friendly tour. Nothing was too much trouble. Thanks sincerely for this. Mary & Alec - The Great Tasmanian Adventure 2021

Well organised safaris run by Renee & Andrew - loads of fun and laughs along the way Allan & Margaret - Qld Outback Wandering
Renee & Andrew's attention to detail is excellent, seeing that everything and everyone is look after. The happy hour with its laughter and banter that comes with it. The slow travelling to enjoy the scenery, plenty of free time for self exploring. Bruce & Thelma - The Great Tasmanian Adventure 2020
We recommend Xpedition Tagalongs, great time was had by our group, will certainly be going again. Andrew & Renee are great leaders and fun to be with, we were in safe hands at all times. This is our 3rd tagalong, they just get bigger and better Allan & Lesley - The Great Tasmanian Adventure 2020

A big thank you again to our hosts and leaders Andrew & Renee, they just make our journeys so much fun and enjoyable. Would never have been able to do this safari on our own even if we had all the maps money could buy. Lots of research and effort goes into all safaris and again "thank you". Hopefully we have made a few friends along the way. Max and Gerda
This was our sixth safari, hopefully many more. The enjoyment of camping in places and travelling on routes, one may not pick if on their own. Happy hour with people who become friends with common interests. Guided by a dedicated couple, who compliment each other with vasts depth of relevant knowledge Lauri & Mary
Andrew and Renee are the perfect Tagalong tour group leaders. Their relaxed, inclusive, friendly manner belies the constant attention to detail, competence and experience that lies beneath. Uluru and Beyond met all my expectations and then some. I can now say that I have done the Red Centre. Viveinne Page - Uluru and Beyond Safari 2018
We spent 30 days with Andrew and Renee covering thousands of kilometres, beautiful scenery. Exceptional stopovers we would have never seen. They were always available to help and this helped bring everyone together. Trevor and Vicki Picket - Uluru and Beyond Safari 2018
As first time safari participants, we weren't sure what to expect, but we were very impressed with how organised our expedition leaders, Andrew and Renee, Led from the front. enjoyed travelling in a convoy for the first time. Alan and Kathy - Uluru and Beyond Safari 2018
Its not about the drive ITS about the journey
Why did we start tagalong tours? Our love for the outdoors and travel sparked an idea 7 years ago which turned into Xpedition Tagalong Tours run in every state throughout the country. What we love about our tours is they have provided the opportunity for people to come together and our customers find that not only do they enjoy the tour itself, but also the connections they make with others who share their love for travel and adventure.
It is a fantastic way to explore the country on road trips that are designed for 2WD caravans, motorhomes and campers and whilst full of adventure are predominantly on the black top. We do sometimes venture onto unsealed roads like the Darling River Run or Flinders Ranges for the more adventurous.
We make our tours as hassle-free and relaxing as we can for the customer with an experienced tour leader in front and everything taken care of, from happy hours to organized tours, every detail is arranged so you can simply focus on enjoying the journey.
So why come on a tagalong? Explore the country, make new friends, discover hidden gems, and experience the beauty of Australia in a whole new way.

FANTASTIC We shared a recent tag along trip of the Canning Stock Route with 3 other cars with the support of Adam . While all the drivers were competent and experienced in 4WD outback travel, for safety and backup support we sought the services provided by a tagalong arrangement . Adam was an amazing support as a guide over the roughest track in years and offered much needed mechanical and general vehicle support . His local knowledge of the best camp and points of interest made the trip enjoyable and stress free . Adam also rescued a young couple travelling solo (albeit their 2nd trip)who had managed to get themselves off the track and hopelessly bogged . Without his assistance they would have waited days for an emergency remote rescue . None of our group needed rescue thanks to being part of his tagalong . Definitely recommend a tagalong arrangement when travelling this remote and rugged track
We travelled with Adam on both the Simpson Desert and Canning Stock Route trips. Both trips were outstanding despite the Simpson Desert being flooded and closed. Adam rerouted our trip to ensure we still had a fabulous time. Adam was great company and ensured we had a 5 star experience due to his knowledge, experience and advice. This was invaluable when we encountered some vehicle issues. I would highly recommend Adam to anyone wanting to travel the outback.
I'd like to thank Adam for another exciting journey through the North Simpson Desert and across the Madigan line. As always, the trip was well run and managed, with spectacular scenery and a remote element that was truly amazing. The social interaction of an evening was always great fun, leaving those in the group good mates and ready for more.
Over the last few years I have also done a Cape trip, Hay River trip, and Darling River run with Tracks 4x4 Tagalongs all of which were fantastic, as well as a Victorian High Country trip which we will never forget, the tracks, camping and scenery was second to none.
Adam is a true professional with a vast knowledge in the off road adventure world who conducts himself in a friendly manner and at the same time brings the security that comes with at least 30 years of 4wd experience to make every trip a true adventure. I’d follow him anywhere and would highly recommend Tracks 4x4 Tagalong for any adventure trip.
We were thrilled with the skill, care and attention that Adam provided when we did his tag along trip on the Hay River Track and Madigan line. Due to a medical condition, we were somewhat anxious about travelling into the remotest parts of Australia and Adam’s background as a remote area Paramedic as well as his comprehensive levels of first aid and communications equipment made us comfortable to take the journey.
Inevitably, and probably due to our lack of experience, when we got bogged Adam demonstrated his expertise and patience to safely extract us from trouble and have us on our way.
This was the trip of a lifetime with the most picturesque scenery and great company. We would highly recommend such a tour and in such good company.
Just completed the Darling River run with Tracks 4x4 Tagalong, a great trip. Adam is a natural leader and considerate to everyones needs. Great trip, will join Adam again.
Just completed the Hay River Track loop with Adam. It really was a great trip- so well put together. Maximum exposure to some terrific places - everyday was an adventure. Adam's calm and thoughtful approach to the journey and fellow travellers ensures we travelled with confidence and achieved a great outcome. I'm in my seventies but our party was made up of teenagers, young parents and older travellers. The atmosphere within the group was always harmonious and respectful - a reflection of the enjoyment experienced by all. Many thanks Adam- we'll be back.
Brilliant trip along the Darling River. Highly recommended tour group.
Had a great time! Adam puts a fantastic itinerary together in order to give you unique experiences. Have just returned from Simpson desert trip and absolutely loved it. Tour was fully equipped with first aid equipment, safety communication devices and with permits for national parks.
Very well organised. Adam was very helpful and knowledgeable. Went out of his way to make people feel welcome. Nobody was made to do anything they didn’t feel comfortable with. We had to leave the trip early because of a medical condition and Adam kept checking in to see how I was feeling. Would love to do another trip with Adam in the future.
Adam keeps his tag along groups small, which is fantastic as you get an opportunity to know your travelling companions and you feel like you are part of something special. Which you are. I have had the opportunity to travel on 3 tours under Adam's guidance and have already paid my deposit to do the Canning in 2023. I cannot rate Tracks 4x4 high enough and would recommend them to anyone.
Starting off on our trip I stated my 4wd experience was at a novice level, after the trip I can safely say that my experience level jumped up a few notches, the trip was amazing, driving through the Simpson desert guided by Adam at Tracks 4X4 Tagalong was an experience we will never forget, driving in a convoy lead by an experienced guide, to give you tips on how to safely navigate the terrain was invaluable, driving up and over sand dunes, through salt pan's and rivers. Looking forward to doing another trip with Track 4X4 Tagalong again soon
We had a fabulous time. Camping spots were beautiful and scenery was amazing. Adam took us to some beautiful landmarks that really made the trip. Kids enjoyed it so much and it was great that it worked out to be in the NSW school holidays.
I joined Adam for a second time, this time on the Victoria High Country trip. Being from Victoria, this was the perfect short trip, perfectly fits in a week's holiday. It would be easy from NSW as well, straight down the Hume to begin in Mansfield. The trip itself was great fun. A good mix of driving, some scenic tracks to some steep rocky climbs. I've always wanted to do Billy Goats Track and it made for an entertaining drive and we were rewarded with spectacular views at the top. Adam knowledge ensured all vehicles made it safely and he had picked out some amazing campsites along the way. You don't need all the gear to enjoy this trip and the stock Prado in our group proved it. Don't wait any longer, just book it, pack the car and go.
We recently completed the Tag-A-Long trip to the Tip of Australia, Cape York, following our very knowledgeable and well-prepared guide, Adam Smith. It was a well-balanced route, offering some challenging 4WD terrain mixed with the Nth Qld rugged dirt highways. Each night we stayed at interesting locations, luckily in air-conditioned accommodation. The food was always of good quality and in country style portions. We had a great group of people on the tour who all mixed very well, making for enjoyable banter at our stopovers. It is a trip you have to do to experience the vastness of our amazing country. We’d recommend Adam’s tours for an amazing adventure.
Thanks Adam for a great trip and being a great leader. We had a fantastic time, much better than I was anticipating. Loved the scenery, touring, getting dirty, bumpy tracks, river crossings, camping and most of all our travelling companions. Will do another 4x4 for sure.
A great trip, terrific company, well improvised itinerary given the Simpson wasn't possible. Thanks Adam, plan to be back next year.
Thanks for an awesome trip....Dynamic itinerary adjusted to weather and park conditions....We had a great time.
Adam is an exemplary trip leader, we enjoyed every moment of our “Epic” adventure of ‘The Canning Stock Route N/S June 2023. Adam’s experience and appreciation of the outback is 2nd to none. We would defiantly recommend Tracks 4x4 Tagalong for your next Epic Adventure
We loved the Tracks 4x4 Tagalong trip we did with Adam . Every day provided different driving challenges ; hill climbs, river crossings, gravel roads , rocky ledges and bush tracks . The extreme driving was the fun focus and the bonuses were the views , the camping , the huts , the history and the great company of the others. A fabulous week in the beautiful Victorian High Country . Many thanks Adam
March 2024, Victorian High Country Adam Smith may well be thought the 21st Century Man from Snowy River. No runaway colts, no fancy Clancy, no rampaging mobs of horses, but he sure knows the Victorian High Country inside out. We spent five days traversing one fabulous vista after the next, through different landscapes, ascents, descents, and numerous water crossings; plenty to test the mettle and metal of the drivers and vehicles. We had a great itinerary that had us sated every night but raring to go again the next morning. Adam is a skilled guide and leader. He's knowledgeable and informative and ever ready with constructive advice when needed, and some (i.e. me) needed it more than others, believe me. And speaking of others, we were in a group of eleven and everyone fitted in like we were old mates. Tracks 4x4 Tagalong trips are a fantastic way to explore the exciting bits of our great country. Do it and have a fabulous time.
Enjoyed a wonderful 2 weeks exploring Cape York under Adam's relaxed but professional guidance. Everything was well organised and being on a tagalong gave us the confidence to go places we would not have had the confidence to visit solo, even if we had known about them. Adam really knows the Cape and has all the equipment and knowhow to help you avoid and, if necessary, get out of difficulties. Highly recommended for everyone from relative novices to the experienced.

Why do we operate tag along tours?
Well let’s be honest, we’d all love to be soaking up Australia’s incredible outdoor locations right? When Ben and Hayley founded Adrenaline Off Road their vision was to make it easy for anyone to not only upgrade their 4WD but then enjoy it by getting off the beaten track. They realised there were hundreds of people that are new to 4WD’ing, perhaps didn’t have the confidence to go into the bush on their own or have the knowledge to take their vehicle off road in a safe manner.
We wanted to solve all of those everyday challenges by offering tag along tours to the some of the best locations Australia has to offer.
Why do people love our tag along tours?
Our team has more than 20 years of off-roading experience and have been on adventures to some of the most incredible locations around Australia. That passion for exploring Australia is infectious and we wanted to make it easy for everyone to enjoy this as well. People love coming on our tag along tours because we can help prepare the vehicle beforehand at our workshop and then we support you while you are on the tour as well.
It’s the best of both worlds – get everything professionally set up on your vehicle & then learn how to use it while knowing if something goes wrong, we are here to help. We make it simple to choose a tour you’d like to join and then have your vehicle checked and prepared at our workshop in Narellan.
Who does our tag along tours suit?
Our tag along tours are very inclusive and cater to first time four wheel drive owners or experienced owners alike. If you love exploring we will take you to unique locations and show you things you may not otherwise find, or have the experience to get to on your own. You get to do this with other enthusiasts and families who love being outdoors too!
We find that many people aren’t interested in joining a 4WD club and are fearful of going on a tour with an online 4WD group that doesn’t have insurance – we fill that gap, you can participate in a tour whenever you like with complete peace of mind.
What skill levels are required?
We have different tours to suit your experience level with choices including one day 4WD beginners tag along tours as well as 7 or 14 day touring trips that will venture anywhere in Australia including locations like:
- The Simpson Desert
- Victoria High Country
- Sunny Corner State Forest
- Flinders Ranges
Come experience the natural locations Australia has to offer in an environment that caters from beginners and standard vehicles right up to the hard core extreme tracks, or remote area tours.
Create your own custom made tag along tour
We are also available to build and lead a private or corporate tour of any length to any location should you and your friends or colleagues want your own group and destination. We can create a bespoke itinerary that can even be catered with all the access permits and fees organised to visit a particular area sorted for you & your group.
Fully insured, authorised and licensed

Testimonials
In 2022, after COVID lockdowns, we decided to do a remote area tagalong tour with ‘Big Sky’. Once meeting, we immediately felt comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts, with many inclusions and some extra surprises. Daily breakfasts were a huge help when camping. We had several mechanical issues, which they sorted and kept us going. The hosts were very knowledgeable on the history and the bush. We loved the banter and night-time gatherings. Once we got home, we immediately wanted to go again. Ourselves and 2 of the other couples are now going on another tour together with them, next year! Svante & Helen
A big thank you to you both for our tagalong tour with Big Sky. It was a unique opportunity to explore the Darling River from beginning to end. Your hospitability has been exceptional and the energy during the entire trip was amazing. You have created an extended family atmosphere and we have enjoyed the easy going banter throughout.
We wish you well with all your future tours, stay healthy. Ray and Cheryl
Thank you for everything; it’s been a great trip. Burke and Wills tour. Lynden and Joy
Having just completed Big Sky Tagalong’s Burke and Wills Tour, I can absolutely say it was a most enjoyable and interesting trip. The hosts were very accommodating, friendly and easy to get along with. It was a very relaxed atmosphere and enjoyable with plenty of laughs as well along the way, hence the time went very quickly. I would definitely recommend it. Bill Hill
This was the first time we have travelled in a group/convoy and will do it again, as it was an all-round, memorable, unique experience. The hosts Dave and Jacque were very welcoming, friendly, and made us feel comfortable, and the group we travelled with were also friendly, helpful, and entertaining. Everything was planned out from the cooked breakfasts to the evening get togethers, although you do get time out to do your own thing if you prefer once you have settled into your campsite for the day. We usually stick to the main roads when travelling, but these tours take you to places that you wouldn’t normally go to. About 60% of the travel, we did on tour were on gravel roads, but we found these roads to be in good condition which built up our confidence to try the back roads on our own for the future. There are things to see on these backroads that you probably would never see unless you are with a professional tour such as BIG SKY. They not only know the best places to go, but they also explain the history. Dave and Jacque also have a plan B if any unforeseen circumstances occur, they are well prepared and have done their research to adjust the tour accordingly. If you have difficulty positioning you van/camper or setting up your equipment, Dave and Jacque are only too pleased to help. (Very helpful for the novice). BIG SKY are offering more than a tour, it is an adventure that we would highly recommend. Well Done BIG SKY. Lynn and Richard (DARLING RIVER TAGALONG TOUR 29 JULY 2023 TO 4 AUGUST 2023)

Canning Stock Route Experience, North to South. Alice to Uluru. 24 Nights
• 3 june - 26 jun 2025 (fully booked) • 5 - 28 july 2025 (3 places available) $7822 for 1 or 2 people in one vehicle..
"This tour is not a holiday, it's an experience" The Canning is the longest continuous 4WD track in the World, and a bucket list item for many. In addition to pitting yourself and your vehicle against the harshness of the track, the ever-changing landscape and history of the region, both European and Indigenous, is fascinating. During this tour, you'll spend a total of 17 days on the actual Canning Stock Route, plenty of time to really enjoy being in the desert. You'll camp among the sand dunes, near historic wells, and under the shade of desert oaks and bloodwood trees. In addition to the stunning desert landscape, you'll also have the opportunity to see unique desert wildlife and plants and learn that there's much more to the desert than just sand. This tour starts with an included room at the Dessert Palms Motel in Alice Springs and an included dinner at Lasseters Hotel just down the road. This location has excellent security for yourself and your vehicle. The tour ends in Uluru/Ayres Rock with a complimentary Uluru 3 day pass and a final breakfast. Some remote off-road experience is desirable as the track is VERY ROUGH. If you're considering this tour for your first desert experience, we suggest you should have a crack at our Simpson Desert Double Crossing Tour or the Beadell Highways Trek first. New Tour for 2025! Beadell Highways Trek. Alice Springs to Coober Pedy. 15 Nights (incl. Surveyor General's Cnr)
$5775 per vehicle incl. 2 people. 8 vehicles max. off-road camper trailers ok. • 14 may - 28 may 2025.
Starting with our included first night's accommodation at the Desert Palms Villas and dinner at Lasseters Hotel in Alice Springs, we take on several of the legendary Len Beadell's Central Australian "Highways" on this giant "C-shaped" trek. From Alice, we find the start of the Gary Junction Highway , following this deep into the desert past some remote Aboriginal Communities all the way into WA, before heading South on the very scenic and seldom travelled Sandy Blight Road . Emerging onto the Great Central Road , we visit the Giles Meteorological Station near Warakurna, and then onto Surveyor General's Corner , on the tri-state border of SA, NT and WA. Popping back out onto the Great Central once more, we refuel at Warburton before tackling the remote Connie Sue Highway Southwards into the Great Victoria Desert . From Neale Junction, it's a 900 km run East on the Anne Beadell Highway through incredibly remote desert country. Along the way, there are several points of interest, including the most remote fuel stop in Australia, Ilkurlka Roadhouse, and the Emu Field Nuclear Test Area . We emerge back out into "civilisation" on the Stuart Highway at Coober Pedy, where we will have a night in the underground hotel, and our final dinner together. Some off-road driving experience is preferred for this tour - it is very remote and the corrugations can be quite rough. The scree slopes on the western side of the Gorge are home to a population of the vulnerable Yellow-Footed Rock Wallaby. Day 7: Discover Arkaroola- visit various points of interest around Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary
Stop At: Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, Arkaroola, South Australia 5732 Australia Enjoy a truly intergalactic experience that is not normally available to anyone but astronomers and scientists. Arkaroola not only has one of Australia’s largest privately owned Astronomical Observatories but also enjoys some of the best astronomical ‘seeing conditions’ in the Southern Hemisphere. The night skies are free of atmospheric and light pollution, offering guests a rare chance to ‘tour the universe’ under the best of conditions. Visitors young and old alike will be enthralled as they see the heavens light up with the energy of worlds that are light-years away. Duration: 3 hours
Stop At: Bolla Bollana Spring, Arkaroola SA 5732, Australia Visit this tranquil and mysterious waterhole of Bolla Bollana, home to many species of birds and the shy and endangered yellow footed Rock Wallaby. The Waterhole track runs out towards the western side of the 61,000 hectare Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary where you will also see the remains of ancient volcanoes and the ruins of the Bolla Bollana Copper Smelter, a reminder of the rich mineral deposits mined early last century. Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: The Pinnacles, Arkaroola SA 5732, Australia Two prominent alkaline to peralkaline granitic pegmatite outcrops occurring in the Neoproterozoic sedimentary rocks. Located 4km north-west of Arkaroola Village along the Mawson Valley. The Pinnacles are members of a series of pegmatite plugs that follow a west-north-west trend along the southern boundary of Arkaroola Duration: 20 minutes
Stop At: Bolla Bollana Smelter, Arkaroola SA 5732, Australia The ruins of the Bolla Bollana copper smelting works present a story of innovation and persistence, in processing the region’s seductively rich deposits of copper, against the eventually insurmountable obstacles presented by the works’ isolation. Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Nooldoonooldoona Waterhole, Arkaroola SA 5732, Australia Visit the majestic and mysterious Nooldoonooldoona Waterhole (try saying that one quickly!) where, in local Adnyamathanha legend, warriors pushed down massive rocks to try to stop the giant serpent, Arkaroo, from returning to its lair in the Gammon Ranges. Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Grindells Hut Campground, Gammon Ranges SA 5732, Australia Visit this tragic and historical site which is extremely well preserved thanks to the National Parks Social Club’s Heritage Committee. The hut and its surrounds are reminders of the remote and rugged country and the men and women who struggled with the loneliness and hardships in the vast cattle country. The year of 1918 saw the fury of an imagined wrongdoing inflamed by the loneliness and a perceived injustice causing a sad man to take a tragic revenge by willfully murdering the husband of his daughter. The site also has a purpose built stone hut which can accommodate up to 8 people, including children.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Day 8: Drive to Merna Mora Station via Blinman and Parachilna
Stop At: Balcanoona, Gammon Ranges SA 5732, Australia Visit the historic and recently restored Balcanoona Woolshed. The restoration of the woolshed includes the pens, holding yards and shearers stand as well as the wooden wool press. The woolshed is clearly defined by descriptive pictures at each station which clearly depict the workings of the woolshed. Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Mount Chambers Gorge, Wertaloona SA 5732, Australia Mount Chambers Gorge is one of the most spectacular and beautiful gorges in the Flinders Ranges and South Australia. Both the Gorge and Mount Chambers, at 409 metres, were discovered by Captain Edward C. Frome and his party in 1843. They were first named by John McDouall Stuart in 1855 when surveying pastoral leases for the Chambers Brothers. We will drive down Mount Chambers Creek to the campground and then take a short walk along the creek to view ancient Aboriginal rock carvings. Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Blinman, Blinman, Flinders Ranges National Park, Flinders Ranges, South Australia We will stop at Blinman for a short rest before continuing on to Merna Mora Station to camp for the night. Participants may visit the General Store and other historic buildings including The Miners Cottage, Blinman Cemetery and other ruins of the town. Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Parachilna Gorge, Mount Falkland SA 5730, Australia We will drive through the Parachilna Gorge and stop at various points of interest along the way. It is amazing to see the sheer rocks, and imagine the power needed to fold them up to their present appearance. The rocks glow red in the early morning and the late afternoon sun. Majestic river red gum trees line the creek at the bottom of the gorge. Duration: 30 minutes
No meals included on this day. Accommodation included: Camp at the Merna Mora Station campground. Amenities include hot showers, toilets, camp kitchen.
