Taylor Swift is, at long last, headed back on the road. Following this week’s monumental chart debut of Midnights , her tenth studio album, Swift announced the U.S. leg of her 2023 Eras tour on Tuesday morning (Nov. 1), confirming her first official tour in nearly five years following months of rumors.

“I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time. I’ve been planning for ages and I finally get to tell you: I’m going back on tour,” Swift said on GMA . “The tour is called the Eras tour and it’s a journey through all of the musical eras of my career.”

Swift said that after kicking off in the U.S., the tour will go on an international swing, with those dates to be announced soon.

Support on the tour will come via a rotating cast of opening acts including Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, Muna, Haim, Gayle, Gracie Abrams and Owenn. The public on-sale date for the tour will be 10 a.m. local venue time on Nov. 18. Swift has partnered with Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program, with fans able to register here for the TaylorSwiftTix presale now through Nov. 9 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Registered fans will get a code with exclusive access to purchase tickets on Nov. 15 starting at 10 a.m. local venue time.

Previous Lover Fest Verified Fan purchasers will get preferred access to participate in the TaylorSwiftTix presale; make sure to register with the same Ticketmaster Account as your Lover Fest purchase. Capital One cardholders will have priority access to purchase tickets on Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. local venue time through Nov. 17 at 10 p.m. local venue time or until supplies last.

Swift’s planned follow-up to the Reputation tour, Lover Fest, was scheduled to take place in 2020 following the 2019 release of her Lover album, but was canceled due to the pandemic. Since the Reputation tour, Swift has released four original studio albums — Lover , 2020’s Folklore and Evermore , and Midnights — as well as two re-recorded albums, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version) , both in 2021.

This week, Midnights blasted in atop the Billboard 200 albums chart with 1.578 million equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 27, according to Luminate — the biggest week for any album in nearly seven years. Meanwhile, Swift made history on the Hot 100 by becoming the first artist to claim the chart’s entire top 10 in a single frame, with “Anti-Hero” debuting at No. 1 to become her ninth career chart-topper.

Important information for buying tickets during the TaylorSwiftTix Presale powered by Verified Fan:

Our goal is to maximize the number of fans who have an opportunity to shop.

The link in your text will direct you to the show you were selected for — either a show that was available during registration or a show that was announced after registration closed.

If you were selected for a show available during registration, your code will enable you to shop  that  show  or any show in the same city  that was announced after registration closed. (You will not be able to shop a different show that was available during registration).

If you were selected for a show announced after registration closed — i.e., the link in your text directs you to one of those shows — your code is good for that show. We recommend you use the code for that show as it will have the greatest availability for you. If you choose, you can use your code instead for the show you prioritized first during registration; however, we expect demand for that show to be higher and your wait to be longer.

Remember, each code only allows you to purchase 6 tickets.

  • Please only join the Waiting Room once and only use one tab per show to reduce any delays.
  • Once you join the Waiting Room, do not close your page.

Yes. The General Public On-Sale will be Friday, November 18 at 10AM local venue time.

Those speculative listings are not real tickets in hand. Beware of these sellers. Learn more about speculative tickets here .

Will there be VIP packages available for the tour?

A limited number of VIP Packages + Tickets may be available at time of purchase. Check your event page for any VIP details.

What are the health check requirements?

In the best interest of fans and staff, the event organizers are monitoring local COVID-19 trends and will meet or exceed protocols mandated by local governments and local venues. By purchasing tickets to this event, you agree to abide by the health and safety measures in effect at the time of the event, which may include, but not be limited to, wearing masks, providing proof of vaccination & booster status and/or providing proof of negative COVID-19 test. Taylor Swift's Eras Tour: All the U.S. and international dates and opening acts

Portrait of Ed Masley

Taylor Swift opened the Eras Tour at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona — which rebranded itself as "Swift Cit y" for the March 17 and 18 concerts — with a triumphant return to live performance as the first act in the history of that venue to sell out two nights on the same tour.

By that point, she'd already broken the all-time record for most concert tickets sold by an artist in a single day and passed Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour as the highest-grossing tour in history by a female artist.

And Swift rose to the occasion , leading her band through a marathon 44-song set that lasted more than three hours while delivering on her promise of "a journey through all of my musical eras."

So what does she do for an encore? Here's where the Eras Tour is headed next, adding two surprise songs to the set at each show. Here's a look at what she's played so far .

Taylor Swift announces 2023 ‘Eras Tour’ of U.S. stadiums; international dates to come

NSAI 2022 Nashville Songwriter Awards

Taylor Swift  announced Tuesday morning her long-rumored return to the road, with an outing dubbed the “Eras Tour” scheduled to hit U.S. stadiums beginning in March 2023 and running into August, with international dates set to be revealed later.

The supporting acts are very much all about the sisterhood, with a host of acts Swift has championed in the past. Opening acts for the U.S. leg of the tour are Paramore, Haim, Phoebe Bridgers, Beabadoobee, Girl in Red, Muna, Gayle, Gracie Abrams and Owenn.

The tour starts March 18, 2023 in what is apparently a sweet spot for Swift, Glendale, AZ, the same place her last outing, the pre-pandemic “Reputation” tour, began in 2018.

The U.S. leg wraps up four and a half months later with two nights at L.A.’s SoFi Stadium Aug. 4-5 — the venue she was set to open as a concert venue in 2020 with the canceled “Lover Fest” mini-tour.

As for which album we can consider the tour to be supporting, since she has released four original studios albums since her last tour? All of them. Swift described the tour as “a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!),” with a graphic showing her look from different phases of her career.

The public on-sale happens at 10 a.m. local time on Nov. 18. As with all major tours nowadays, there will be an earlier rollout of tickets for credit card members, in this case holders of Capital One cards, beginning Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. local time.

As with her previous tour, there will be a Ticketmaster Verified Fan program “to ensure tickets get into the hands of fans.” Aspiring ticket buyers can register for the setup now through Nov. 9  here .

Unusually in the modern era of variably priced “platinum tickets” where fans get little information about set ticket prices, Swift has announced the cost of her tickets in advance. They run from $49 up to $449, with VIP packages that start at $199 and go up to $899.

Swift’s announcement promised that international dates are to follow.

Of all her “Eras,” Swift is really due to represent the modern one on tour, as much as fans may relish the idea of a somewhat nostalgically themed outing encompassing the full spectrum of her career. She has released “Lover,” “Folklore,” “Evermore” and now “ Midnights ” since she last was on the road, along with bonus-track-aided re-recordings of the “Red” and “Fearless” albums, any one of which would have been occasion enough to prompt its own tour in an era before the entire concert scene necessarily hit a pause.

There was an attention to detail in the tour announcement even in the graphics signifying the opening acts at different spots in the tour routing, with Bridgers, for instance, being represented by a tiny ghost, in honor of the skeleton costume she’s used on her own headlining tours.

Not accidental, probably, is how that same graphic breaks the tour itinerary down into two columns of 13 dates each. There will be 26 shows in 20 cities. The venues getting a two-night stand are in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago, Arlington, TX, Foxborough, MA and East Rutherford, NJ.

The reception for “Midnights” upon its October release left no doubt just how strong the appetite for Swift tickets will be. It had the biggest week since Adele’s “25” album, per Luminate this week, with 1,578,000 album-equivalent units.

Additionally, it was announced Monday that for the first time in history, all 10 top slots of the Billboard Hot 100 were filled by a single artist’s songs, with “Anti-Hero” leading the way at No. 1. Fans very much wanted the full album, anyway — of the nearly 1.6 million album units registered for “Midnights,” 1,140,000 were copies purchased in the form of the full album. It became Swift’s fifth album, out of her 10 original studio releases overall, to sell a million-plus copies in the first week out. The figure also represented the best first-week sales for an album by any performer since “Reputation” came out of the gate with 1,216,000.

Taylor Swift Taps Paramore for European Eras Tour Run

Taylor Swift knows we need more — so she’s giving us just that. The singer has added 14 more shows to the European/U.K. leg of her Eras Tour , and announced that Paramore will provide support throughout the trek.

“Really can’t contain my excitement because… we’re adding 14 new shows to The Eras Tour,” Swift wrote on Twitter Wednesday, July 5. “And I get to travel the world doing shows with @paramore !! Hayley and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer??? I’m screaming???”

Last month, Swift added dozens of shows to her Taylor Swift: The Eras stadium tour — bringing the total count of shows to a whooping 104 nights . She also extended her run at Los Angeles’ So-Fi Stadium with a sixth show scheduled for Aug. 7.

The new addition comes after the singer announced shows in Japan, Australia, Singapore, and Europe earlier this week. (See below for the full tour dates.)

“EXCUSE ME HI I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY 🙋‍♀️,” she wrote on Instagram. “I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates!”

She also added more dates to her already-announced Latin America tour. After wrapping her U.S. dates in Los Angeles on Aug. 9, Swift will head to Mexico City for four straight shows at Foro Sol starting Aug. 24. She’ll then stop in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in Brazil in November.

Swift first announced the tour last October after she completely took over the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 with Midnights . The added dates, which follow the addition of eight new shows last week, were slotted in “due to unprecedented demand,” according to the singer’s camp.

“Good Morning America, it’s Taylor,” Swift said during the announcement. “I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time and I’ve been planning for ages, and I finally get to tell you I’m going back on tour. The tour is called the ‘Eras’ tour, and it’s a journey through all of my musical eras of my career.”

Across the tour, Swift is being supported in select cities by a combination of special guests including Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN.

The Eras tour follows the cancelation of her planned 2020 Lover Fest tour, which was originally going to see her make stadium stops in Los Angeles, Boston, and New York, along with Brazil, Denmark, Norway, and Poland. “This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone’s plans and no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future,” she wrote in 2021.

Swift last went the road in 2018 for her massive Reputation Stadium Tour , which saw Swift accompanied by the likes of Charli XCX and Camila Cabello across the United States, the United Kingdom, along with Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. The tour was the highest-grossing music tour by a female artist that year.

Since her last tour, Swift has released four albums and two re-releases: Lover , Folklore , Evermore , Midnights , and Taylor’s Version editions of Fearless and Red with additional songs. In total, she’s dropped 90 tracks of new material, not including collaborations with the likes of Haim and Big Red Machine.

Fans have long wondered what music she’ll be performing on the road, with some theorizing that she’d host a residency in Las Vegas or a music festival where she’d perform different “eras” on different nights.

Along with packing her setlist with songs from Reputation in 2018, she surprised each city with an acoustic rendition of fan favorites like “Red,” “Holy Ground,” and “Wildest Dreams.” At select shows, she also brought out special guests. Shawn Mendes, Selena Gomez, Hayley Kiyoko, and Maren Morris were among the artists to be brought out by Swift.

She previously took her 1989 album on the road for 85 dates, where she was accompanied by the likes of Mendes, James Bay, Vance Joy, and Haim. Before then was The Red Tour in 2013 and 2014, and her Speak Now World Tour from 2011 to 2012.

Taylor Swift Announces 2023 U.S. Stadium Tour

Taylor Swift at the 2022 MTV VMAs

Taylor Swift has announced a massive 2023 stadium tour. Dubbed the Eras Tour, it begins in March 2023 and stretches into August. Guests on the tour include Phoebe Bridgers, Haim, Paramore, Beabadoobee, Gayle, Girl in Red, Gracie Abrams, Muna, and Owenn. Find her full schedule below.

The Eras Tour will support Swift’s new studio album, Midnights . It’s her 11th album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling more than a million copies in its first week. Swift previously teased the tour during her interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in October.

Midnights features collaborations with Lana Del Rey and Zoë Kravitz, and Swift described it as “the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout [her] life.” The new LP follows a steady stream of albums: In 2020, Swift issued a pair of stripped down releases— Folklore and E vermore , and, last year, she returned with re-recorded versions of Fearless and Red .

Swift announced Midnights at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards as she accepted the trophy for Video of the Year. Swift won the accolade for her 10-minute “ All Too Well: The Short Film ,” marking her third victory for Video of the Year, having previously won for 2015’s “Bad Blood” and 2019’s “ You Need to Calm Down .”

In recent months, Swift has shared “ This Love (Taylor’s Version) ” (a re-recorded cut from 1989 ), penned an original song for the new film Where the Crawdads Sing , and joined Ed Sheeran for a new version of “ The Joker and the Queen .” She also joined Bon Iver and Aaron Dessner to perform “ Exile ” live. She’s currently in theaters as well, appearing in the new David O. Russell film Amsterdam alongside Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Robert De Niro, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, and more.

Dua Lipa Announces 2025 Tour

taylor swift tour name 2023

Taylor Swift's 'Eras Tour' Is Going To Japan, Australia, Europe & More

The singer announced more international tour dates for the Eras Tour .

Taylor Swift is back on tour for the first time in five years. Since her last tour, she’s put out a whopping four albums, each with its own mythology, color scheme and unique sound to mark whatever era of her life — both creatively and musically — she’s currently in. When it comes to Taylor, there’s something for everyone: There’s the longing cottage-core of folklore and evermore , the self-hating, depressive late nights of Midnights , the dreamy rosy-eyed glasses of Lover . Swift is now revisiting these eras on her latest Eras Tour which, after an extensive 2023 U.S., Mexico, and South America run, will finally make its way overseas in 2024 to Japan, Australia, Singapore, and Europe.

In true Taylor form, she’s bringing her friends along for the ride — who encompass a wide swatch of generations and music tastes as varied as Swift’s own catalogue. Swift is supported by Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN on the tour’s 2023 U.S. leg. (Yes, you have permission to scream!) While Sabrina Carpenter will take over for Swift’s shows in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and a few 2024 dates in Australia and Singapore. Paramore will return as openers for her 2024 European shows.

The Eras Tour kicked off March 18, 2023 in Glendale, AZ, the same place her “Reputation” tour began in 2018, with the U.S. leg wrapping in L.A.’s SoFi Stadium on August 9 — the same place she was set to open her 2020 Lover Fest mini-tour. Following shows in Mexico and South America, she embarks on her third leg of international dates starting February 2024.

For everything else we know about attending Swift’s Eras tour, including the full tour schedule, dates, and how to score tickets, read on.

Where is the 2023 Eras Tour Playing?

On June 20, Swift announced the international third leg of the Eras tour, consisting of shows in Japan, Australia, Singapore, and various countries throughout Europe. This run of dates kicks off in February 2024 in Japan, and wraps mid-August in London. See the full schedule below.

About Gracie Abrams

Since making her debut with “Mean It” in October 2019, Gracie Abrams has emerged as one of the most compelling songwriters of her generation.  She is a consummate songwriter who names iconic figures like Joni Mitchell and Taylor Swift as her most formative influences.

With the arrival of her debut project  minor  in summer 2020, she received glowing reviews from the likes of Pigeons & Planes, i-D, Vogue and NME. Executive-produced by Blake Slatkin — and also made with leading producers like Joel Little and benny blanco-  minor  features her beloved singles, “21,” and “I miss you, I’m sorry”.

In November 2021, Abrams returned with  This Is What It Feels Like , a 12-track project exploring such complex emotional experiences as self-betrayal, insecurity, and failed attempts at connection.  Abrams took on a greater role in the production process here, working with The National’s Aaron Dessner, Joel Little and Blake Slatkin to dream up each track.

Abrams kicked off 2022 with a headline tour of North America followed by a support slot on Olivia Rodrigo’s tour.  She reconnected with Dessner to release two songs this year – “Block me out” and “Difficult” – and continues to work on her debut album.

About GAYLE

GAYLE’s debut EP,  a study of the human experience volume one , captures the 18 year old’s most specific and vividly real emotions: the tension between longing for connection and fearing vulnerability, the risk and thrill of refusing to compromise your own needs. Released in early 2022, the project features her electrifying chart topping smash single “ abcdefu ”: a double-Platinum anthem that propelled the Nashville-based artist to over 2 billion streams globally and such milestones as being named as a Billboard Music Awards finalist, and earn such honors as American Music Award and People’s Choice Award nominations for Best New Artist, and 2 MTV VMA nominations. In the midst of navigating that whirlwind success, GAYLE headed back into the studio to create  a study of the human experience volume two —a powerful new EP that doubles down on its predecessor’s unapologetic truth-telling, with  American Songwriter  writing “GAYLE’s uncensored honesty as a lyrical storyteller is what makes her music so captivating.” Highlighted by the playfully chaotic “ fmk (with blackbear) ” and the blissful “ snow angels ,”  a study of the human experience volume two  is out now. Heralded as a magnetic live performer, GAYLE has spent the past year on a headline tour, playing alongside Tate McRae, AJR, My Chemical Romance, and at festival dates around the world.

HAIM are sisters Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim, hailing from Los Angeles, CA. The band made history as the first all-female rock group to be nominated for GRAMMY® Album of The Year with their third album, ‘Women In Music Pt. III.’ The album received two GRAMMY® nominations, the band’s single “The Steps” was nominated for ‘Best Rock Performance.’  The band again made history winning a Brit Award for Best International Group, the first time an all-female act has won this award since Destiny’s Child in 2002.  ‘Women In Music Pt. III’ was released in June and was met with an overwhelming amount of critical acclaim, rave reviews and included on a variety of year-end Top 10 lists. Named a “Critic’s Pick” by  The New York Times  and “Best New Music” by  Pitchfork , they heralded, “the third album from the trio is far and away their best. Intimate, multidimensional, and wide-ranging, the songwriting shines with personality and a great curiosity for melody and style.” ‘Women In Music Pt. III’ debuted at #1 on the Album Sales Chart, Alternative Chart and Rock Chart following release week in the US. The band also earned the #1 album in the UK, marking their second time at the top of the UK albums chart. Haim released their debut album “Days Are Gone” in 2013 which earned them a GRAMMY® nomination for Best New Artist. Renowned for their engaging high-energy live performances, HAIM have toured the world playing headline shows and festival stages including Glastonbury, Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and more.  On their most recent headlining tour in support of Women In Music Part III, HAIM sold out shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden as well as Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and 02 Arena in London

About OWENN

This Summer, OWENN, the talented multi-hyphenate, brought his enigmatic spirit and smokey sense of soul to the forefront as he formally introduced himself on his debut tour, highlighted by a Main Stage East show at Lollapalooza Paris; OWENN carried the momentum from Europe having just recently opened for Lil Nas X on the two sold out New York, Radio City Music Hall shows – Long Live Montero Tour.

OWENN has attracted attention contributing dance moves on stages worldwide with A-list artists such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Megan Thee Stallion, Normani and others. Including, most recently working with Lil Nas X to choreograph his tv performances for MTV VMAs and live show appearances on the iHeart Jingle Ball Tour.  OWENN became a staple of Taylor Swift’s show on her  1989 Tour  and  Reputation Tour .  In 2019, he starred alongside Taylor in her video for “ Lover ,” as well as Normani in her video for “ Motivation ”.

Inspired by Prince, Marvin Gaye, Usher, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, and the Smiths, among others, OWENN’s emotional and spiritual approach to dance translated to writing and recording. OWENN’s debut EP will be released in fall of 2023.

It’s finally happening!

preview for Taylor Swift’s Hidden Easter Eggs & MAJOR Fan Theories About ‘Midnights’

Seventeen picks products that we think you'll love the most. We may earn commission from the links on this page.

Grab your glittery eyeshadow, open *all* the tabs on your browser, and collect your coins, because Taylor Swift is officially on tour in support of her tenth album, Midnights ... and all her other iconic eras, too. From her Fearless days to folklore whimsy, the Grammy-winner is touching down at 20 stadiums in the U.S. (and more abroad!) for the Eras Stadium Tour. She’ll be joined by an incredible and impressive lineup of supporting acts, from emo veterans like Paramore to newcomers like Gayle and Girl in Red. This marks Taylor’s first tour since the Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018, and it will also be the first time she brings folklore and evermore on the road.

“I’m enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!),” Taylor wrote in her official tour announcement. “I can’t WAIT to see your gorgeous faces out there. It’s been a long time coming 🥰.”

The announcement comes after Taylor teased a potential tour during her October 24, 2022 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon . When Jimmy says she hasn’t toured in four years and that fans want her to, Taylor said “I think I should do it.” And do it, she will.

Here’s everything we know about Taylor Swift’s Eras Stadium Tour, from its setlist to how you can snag tickets and merch. Of course, we’ll keep all the updates coming as Taylor hits the road.

When and where did Taylor Swift’s tour start?

The North American leg of the Eras Stadium Tour kicked off at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on March 17, 2023. The city of Glendale fully embraced the honor of hosting her first Eras concert — in fact, Mayor Jerry P. Weiers of Glendale even declared that the city would temporarily be renamed Swift City for the duration of Taylor's performances on March 17th and 18th.

Mayor Weiers gave the official announcement at a press conference and made sure to incorporate plenty of T. Swift-themed puns, noting that all Swifties are encouraged to share their smiles “that could light up this whole town” on all social media platforms because “the best people in life are free.”

The U.S. Eras tour will end with a grand finale at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California on August 9, 2023.

Which cities is Taylor Swift playing the Eras Tour?

After kicking off the tour in Glendale, Arizona, Taylor hit a ton of different cities in the U.S., from Foxborough, Massachusetts to East Rutherford, New Jersey. She initially shared the official tour dates on November 1, 2022, but she soon added eight more dates due to high demand (!!).

But, eight more shows still wasn’t enough due to increased demand, so Taylor Nation announced that 17 (!!) additional shows were added to the Eras Tour. “She gave us 8 shows last week, honey, but we want ‘em all. Due to unprecedented demand for tickets to #TSTheErasTour , Taylor has added 17 more shows in the US!,” her official fan club wrote.

And then, because Taylor is so good to us, she added one more new show in Los Angeles in the Sofi Stadium for September 7, 2023. See all her official tour dates listed below, including her incredible lineup of supporting acts.

Does Eras have international tour dates?

Yes! In June 2023, Taylor came through on her promise of crossing the pond. After the Latin American leg of the Eras Stadium Tour, Taylor will take the show to Asia, Australia, and Europe, starting February 7, 2024. She’ll begin with four shows in Toyko, and from there, will jet-set to major cities including Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore, Paris, Amsterdam, and London. Check out the full list of international tour dates below.

But Taylor wasn’t done yet. Days after her initial announcement, the artist added one new show in Los Angeles and 8 news shows in the UK and Europe . Then, on July 5, she tossed 14 more European tour dates into the line-up, extending her stay in cities including Paris, Stockholm, Lisbon, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Dublin, Amsterdam, Milan, Warsaw, and Vienna. See the complete list below.

Has Taylor Swift made any special announcements during the Eras Stadium Tour?

Taylor went back to her roots for a three-night tour in her hometown of Nashville and kicked off her weekend-long stay by announcing the official release date for her third re-release, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) . (Funny enough, Speak Now was Taylor’s third studio album.) The Grammy winner later took to Instagram to celebrate the album's release.

“It fills me with such pride and joy to announce that my version of Speak Now will be out July 7 (just in time for July 9th, iykyk 😆),” she wrote. “I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness. I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing … and living to speak about it.”

Taylor also revealed that there will be new music released on the project as well. “With six extra songs I’ve sprung loose from the vault, I absolutely cannot wait to celebrate Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) with you on July 7th.”

How much is Taylor Swift expected to earn from the Eras Tour?

Taylor is raking in big coins courtesy of the Eras Stadium Tour. Bloomberg estimates that the Grammy winner could earn more than $10 million each night from ticket sales — but she isn’t the only one reaping the rewards of the tour.

According to the outlet, Eras could generate $5 billion (!) for local economies throughout the U.S., with an economic impact that’s reportedly greater than 50 countries. Bloomberg says a study from QuestionPro found that concertgoers spend an average of $1,327.74 on tickets, outfits and costumes, merchandise, food and drink, and travel combined.

Who are the opening acts for Taylor Swift’s Eras Stadium Tour?

Paramore (!!) has joined the tour. While announcing the 14 added European dates, Taylor shared that the pop-punk band will be her opening act. “I get to travel the world doing shows with @paramore!!,” Taylor wrote on Instagram. “@yelyahwilliams and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer??? I’m screaming???”

Sabrina Carpenter also recently announced that she’ll join Taylor’s Eras tour throughout Latin America. The “emails i can’t send” singer posted the official dates along with a screenshot of a 13-year-old tweet that read, “The Taylor Swift concert was amazing, had so much fun I cant wait to have a world tour someday like hers! lol with 2 sold out shows!!!!!” We’re not crying, you are. 🥹

Sabrina will be the special guest for Taylor’s Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico City performances from August 24 to November 26.

While most of Taylor’s opening acts and special guests are her friends and collaborators, there are also fresh, new artists who are getting their foot in the door with the honor of playing stadiums with Taylor Swift early in their careers. Taylor’s other supporting acts include Paramore, Haim, Pheobe Bridgers, Muna, Beabadoobee, Girl in Red, Gayle, Gracie Abrams, and Owenn.

How can I buy tickets for Taylor Swift's Eras Stadium Tour?

Following the TicketMaster debacle during the Verified Fan and Capital One pre-sales, Taylor’s team worked with the retailer to give Swifties good karma on Monday, December 12, 2022. Per NBC News , fans started receiving emails from TicketMaster that revealed they’d have a second chance at securing tickets to the Eras tour. “You were selected for this opportunity because you have been identified as a fan who received a boost during the Verified Fan presale but did not purchase tickets,” the email read. “We apologize for the difficulties you may have experienced, and have been asked by Taylor’s team to create this additional opportunity for you to purchase tickets.”

According to fans on Twitter, those who had received an official boost for the Verified Fan Pre-Sale but didn’t purchase tickets were granted an opportunity to buy a maximum of two due to high demand. Fans who received the message from TicketMaster received an individual invite to submit their purchase request before Friday, December 23, 2022. The retailer claims that invitations “will be staggered by tour dates in each city.”

For better chances of snagging a ticket, fans were instructed to register for TicketMaster’s Verified Fan program before November 9, 2022 to “ensure tickets get into the hands of fans.” The TicketMaster Verified Fan pre-sale took place on November 15, 2022, and due to unprecedented demand, tons of Swifties grew frustrated with the ticket-selling platform.

TicketMaster issued multiple statements during the chaotic Verified Fan pre-sale, which reportedly included queues of more than 20,000 people for some dates. Because of this “historically unprecedented demand,” the pre-sales scheduled for West Coast shows in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Santa Clara, and Seattle were postponed to 3 p.m. PST on November 15, 2022 instead of its original time of 10 a.m. PST. TicketMaster also rescheduled the Capital One card member pre-sale to November 16, 2022 at 2 P.M. local venue time.

The ticket retailer included notable updates in the following Tweet:

According to TicketMaster’s official Twitter account, these are the best ticket-buying practices to ensure you secure a spot during the pre-sale.

On November 17, 2022, TicketMaster announced that the general ticket sale, which was scheduled to take place on Friday, November 18, 2022, was canceled due to “extraordinarily high demands.”

“Due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand, tomorrow's public on-sale for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour has been canceled,” the company wrote on Twitter. Greg Maffei, the CEO of Liberty Media, the largest shareholder in concert promotion company Live Nation and its ticket-selling platform Ticketmaster, also told CNBC that 14 million people tried to purchase tickets for the tour when pre-sale was launched on Tuesday to 1.5 million verified fans.

SeatGeek’s website also reported that the general sale was canceled on their platform for the same reasons.

According to a report by Variety , ticket prices ranged from $49 up to $449, with VIP packages starting at $199 and going up to $899. Notably, this did not include a meet-and-greet package as Taylor's official fan club, Taylor Nation, tends to scout super fans on social media and in the crowds at shows to meet the star for no additional cost.

While Taylor hasn’t done any official meet and greets for the Eras tour yet, she did keep a sweet promise she made to Arizona teen Isabella McCune. In 2018, Isabella went through a tragic accident that left her hospitalized with burns that covered more than 65 percent of her body. She was only 8 years old at the time, and she couldn't attend Taylor’s Reputation Stadium Tour because of her hospitalization.

Per ABC 15 , Taylor visited her longtime fan at the time and left a note that read, “Isabelle, I hope you feel better soon. I'm so honored you've been listening to my music. You're so awesome and I can't wait to have you at a show. Stay strong, gorgeous. Love, Taylor.”

Now, 13-year-old Isabella had the chance to attend the opening night of Taylor’s Eras tour in Glendale, Arizona. “Not only the fact that I'm able to go and I got these tickets gifted to me, they're from Taylor Swift and her team and they remembered me and thought of me to give me these tickets,” Isabella told the local news affiliate, adding that Taylor's "music helped [her] a lot while I was in the hospital."

Has Taylor Swift addressed the TicketMaster debacle?

The singer-songwriter originally took to her Instagram Stories on November 18, 2022, to air her frustrations and share her disappointment in the ticket-buying process.

“It goes without saying that I'm extremely protective of my fans. We've been doing this for decades together and over the years, I've brought so many elements of my career in house,” Taylor began. “I've done this SPECIFICALLY to improve the quality of my fans' experience by doing it myself with my team who care as much about my fans as I do. It's really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for met to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse.”

“It's truly amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really pisses me off that a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them,” she added.

Taylor ended the message in sharing her hopes that there will be future opportunities for her and her fans to be together and “sing these songs.” See Taylor’s full message below.

Drop everything now — pics from the opening night of Taylor’s tour in Glendale, Arizona, are her, and she’s proven that she can still make the whole place shimmer. What is taylor swift’s eras stadium tour setlist.

Taylor’s set is a little longer than her past tours because of all her iconic eras. With 10 (!!) studio albums — four of which haven’t been properly supported on tour — there is a ton of new material for Taylor to explore on stage. On opening night in Glendale, Arizona, the Grammy winner performed 44 songs, which rounded out to about three hours.

Find the full setlist for the tour's opening night below.

“Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince” “Cruel Summer” “The Man” “You Need to Calm Down” “Lover” “The Archer” “Fearless “You Belong With Me” “Love Story” “Tis the Damn Season” “Willow” “Marjorie” “Champagne Problems” “Tolerate It” “…Ready for It?” “Delicate” “Don’t Blame Me” “Look What You Made Me Do” “Enchanted” “22” “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” “I Knew You Were Trouble” “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” “Invisible String” “Betty” “The Last Great American Dynasty” “August”/ “Illicit Affairs” “My Tears Ricochet” “Cardigan” “Style” “Blank Space” “Shake It Off” “Wildest Dreams” “Bad Blood” Surprise song — subject to change Surprise song — subject to change “Lavender Haze” “Anti-Hero” “Midnight Rain” “Vigilante Sh-t” “Bejeweled” “Mastermind” “Karma”

During her Arlington, Texas show on March 31, Taylor swapped out “Invisible String” — which fans believe is about her former boyfriend of six years, Joe Alwyn — for a bittersweet breakup track off Folklore , “The 1.” The setlist switch-up came amid Tay’s breakup with the Conversations With Friends actor.

The opening track off her Grammy-winning album, Folklore , includes the following lyrics:

“But we were something, don't you think so? / Roaring 20s, tossing pennies in the pool / And if my wishes came true / It would've been you / In my defense, I have none / For never leaving well enough alone / But it would've been fun / If you would've been the one.” Due to the nature of the lyrics, fans believe the song switch may have hinted at the couple’s split.

What are the surprise songs for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour?

On the first night of the tour, Taylor revealed that she’ll perform not one, but two surprise songs during the acoustic portion of the show.

“The plan, the goal, would be to play different songs every single night and never repeat one. Right? So that when you heard one on this tour, you would know it's the only time that I was going to play it in the acoustic set, unless — caveat — unless I mess it up so badly that I have to do it over again in some other city. Send your best wishes towards me that I don't do that,” the singer said, per Billboard .

What Are Taylor Swift's 'Eras'? The Backstory Behind Her 2023 Tour

Last week, Taylor Swift asked her fans to meet her at midnight, and now, she's asking them to meet her at one of the many locations on her newly-announced 2023 Eras Tour.

Instead of a surprise announcement at 3 a.m., which she is prone to do, Swift announced the new tour on Good Morning America on Tuesday, her first stadium tour in the U.S. since 2018's Reputation Tour.

The announcement comes a little more than a week after the release of her 10th studio album, Midnights , which topped number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart with the biggest week for any album release in seven years. Swift also dominated the Billboard Hot 100's chart, claiming all of the top 10 spots with songs from the new album, a feat no other artist in history has done.

So it's only natural that the "Lavender Haze" singer celebrates with a new tour and one that will likely celebrate her multitude of "eras" that have defined her as an artist. The tour, on Swift's Twitter , was deemed "a journey through the musical eras of my career (past & present!)" with international dates soon to be announced.

She also announced an assembly of amazing artists who will be joining her for certain legs of the tour, including Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers , girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN. The tour is set to take off on March 18, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona, and end in Los Angeles on August 5, 2023.

What Is A Taylor Swift Era?

Perhaps now, you may be asking, what exactly is a Taylor Swift "era"?

Taylor Swift collage concerts

Rather than simply releasing an album for the masses, Swift is famous for creating a world and atmosphere surrounding a particular album. Swift is more than aware that her songs have different vibes and aesthetics as well, as she has even curated playlists of her collection of songs that fall under three categories: Quill, Fountain Pen, or Glitter Gel Pen.

  • All of the Taylor Swift 'Bejeweled' music video easter eggs and cast
  • Taylor Swift sends fans into a frenzy after surprise performance: "Heaven"
  • "We appeared in Taylor Swift's Anti-Hero music video in a very unusual way"

Swifties know that the singer puts meaning behind every aesthetic little detail: from the fonts she uses to the outfits she wears, it all becomes a part of the story behind the album, which defines an era of Swift's musical career.

Taylor Swift Era

Her first, perhaps less prominent era, was that of her debut, where her first album, self-titled, was the start of her career in 2006. Leaning into the country tone, Swift was just a small-town girl with big dreams, but out of it came the classics: "Teardrops On My Guitar," "Should've Said No" and "Our Song."

Fearless Era

Taylor's Fearless era in 2008 paved the way for her to enter into the pop realm, if only slightly. You can still hear a country twang in "You Belong With Me," but Swift's hits like "White Horse", "Love Story" and "Fifteen" became synonymous with her bouncy blonde curls and sparkly dresses.

Taylor Swift "Fearless Tour" At Madison Square

The Fearless album also became the first that Swift re-released in 2021 as "Taylor's Version," which opened up a whole world of nostalgia for many who have been with Swift since the beginning.

Speak Now Era

Take a melancholy sigh.

The Speak Now era in 2010 was defined by the color purple, rich and romantic. For the first time, Swift began using fantasy to tell a story within her album. The fairytale energy of Speak Now was illuminated by the song "Enchanted," and the sad poet within her rose to the occasion for "Dear John" and "Back To December."

Taylor Swift RED Tour Opener - Omaha,

Swift's Red era was the epitome of 2012, some could argue. With black bowler hats and striped red tees and shorts and her now iconic hairstyle with bangs, Red was wholly unique to that of the soft, elegant haze that was Speak Now.

Naturally, she used the color red to her advantage, and the album was ensconced by heartbreak, new loves, and turning "22." She hinted at the Red era several times in 2020 by posting the phrase "not a lot going on at the moment," which was written on a shirt she wore in the music video for the song "22."

Red (Taylor's Version) also became the second re-released album , coming out last fall, and the "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)" broke many hearts all over again.

Swift's 1989 era (the year she was born) was a stylistic renaissance for the young pop artist. In the era, which took place in 2014, Swift transformed completely and totally from her country roots and took on the role of a pop icon.

Taylor Swift's 1989 Secret Session With iHeartRadio

The album was nostalgic and romantic, with a little bit of revenge sprinkled in here and there. With hits like "Style," "Bad Blood," "Out of the Woods," and "Blank Space," Swift embraced the idea of coming into her power and flaunting her love in sequins and sunglasses.

Reputation Era

Taylor Swift reputation Stadium Tour - Auckland

What came next for Swift was a complete 180.

In 2017, she transformed from "America's Sweetheart" to "Nobody's Sweetheart." A stark contrast to everything that came before, Swift's Reputation era was marked by an all-black wardrobe, knee-high boots, snake imagery, and dark makeup.

Her fierce style was highlighted by lyrics from the album's single, "Look What You Made Me Do," in which she sings that the "old Taylor" can't pick up the phone right now. "Why?" she sings, "Oh, 'cause she's dead."

One might now call Swift's Reputation era her "villain" era, as she also became far more adept in singling out those who have wronged her in her lyrics; at this time, it was Kanye West who had reportedly claimed he had spoken to her about a song of his and gotten her consent to mention her, which Swift denied.

Swift's Lover era in 2019 was, you guessed it: for the lovers.

With dreamy pop tones and bright colors, the album was once again a large pivot from the previous, but no doubt one of Swift's many personas. She was lit in a world of color and vibrance and energy, wearing hot pinks and rainbow fringe jackets on stage when she performed songs like "Paper Rings," "The Man," and "ME!" which featured Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco.

Folklore and Evermore Era

63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards – Media Room

Folklore and Evermore tend to go hand in hand, as they were released five months apart, and both had been surprises. The albums were the epitome of writing sad poetry by the fire at a lakeside cabin like a recluse, both very woodsy and "cottagecore"-esque.

As they were both written and recorded during the pandemic, Folklore and Evermore are the sister albums that came from Swift's little mushroom cottage in the woods, paired with her iconic braids and plaid coats, making them the albums that embody a misty autumn morning.

Swift won Album of the Year at the 63rd Grammy Awards in 2021 for Folklore .

Midnights Era

Finally, Swift has shown fans what it is like to be sad and nostalgic, but to at least seek therapy. Midnights is shaping up to be another vibe shift for Swift, with pop synths and 70's retro-inspired aesthetics. The songs, which include "Midnight Rain," "Anti-Hero," and "Mastermind" prove that Swift has been thinking a lot about her past, looking inward at herself and writing about the lessons she has learned.

So if there's anything that can be expected from Swift's Era Tour, it is that it will likely be one great nostalgic celebration of the many different Swifts that we are oh so thankful for.

Taylor Swift delivers emotional catharsis and anthems galore in epic, three-hour-plus show

Taylormania has finally arrived in Southern California.

Nearly five months after she launched her first road show since 2018, Taylor Swift is wrapping up the initial U.S. leg of her blockbuster Eras tour with six sold-out concerts at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium starting Thursday night.

It’s a love story, L.A. just says yes: How Taylormania took over the world

Cultural dominance. History-making album sales. Sold-out stadiums. Add them up, and Taylor Swift’s current moment has little precedent in pop-music history.

Aug. 1, 2023

The tour ostensibly comes behind Swift’s 10th studio album, “ Midnights ,” which came out in October and immediately set a record for the most streams ever accumulated in a single day on Spotify. Since then the LP has been certified double platinum and spun off a No. 1 single in “Anti-Hero”; it’s also a strong contender for an album of the year nomination at February’s Grammy Awards.

As the tour’s name suggests, though, Swift’s live show — with dozens of songs spread over three hours or more — is meant to encompass the 33-year-old’s entire career, from her days as a teenage country phenom through her pop breakthrough with 2012’s “Red” to her current station as a kind of fairy godmother figure to a generation of younger songwriters including Gracie Abrams and Gayle, both of whom are among her opening acts at SoFi.

Couldn’t score a ticket to SoFi? On TikTok, one Swiftie has built a following by curating and broadcasting fans’ nightly live recordings of the singer’s three-hour sets.

Has any pop-culture event been more closely followed this summer? (Maybe “Barbenheimer.”) In addition to the hundreds of thousands of people who’ve taken in one of Swift’s gigs in person — driving gross proceeds toward an expected $1 billion or more by the time she’s finished circling the globe next year — the Eras tour has maintained a constant presence on TikTok thanks in the part to the show’s blend of novelty and familiarity: You know she’ll play a surprise song or two, but you don’t know which ones; you know she’ll place a hat on a lucky fan’s head during “22,” but you don’t know who the fan will be.

The ultimate guide to seeing Taylor Swift at SoFi Stadium

Parking! Public transit! Fan chants! Friendship bracelets! Everything you need to know before you see Taylor Swift at SoFi Stadium for the L.A. stops of her Eras tour.

Aug. 4, 2023

Might Swift, who revealed early Thursday that she’d scheduled a second round of North American dates next year, have even more up her sleeve in L.A.? The Times’ Mikael Wood and Suzy Exposito are at SoFi for opening night and will provide live updates from the show as it happens.

A fan with Taylor Swift merchandise at SoFi Stadium

6:12 p.m. Greetings from SoFi Stadium, where the struggle to park is real enough that I just saw somebody’s pink boa come hurtling out of a car window in what looked like frustration. (Hope they brought an extra.)

I’m Mikael Wood, The Times’ pop music critic, and I’m here with Times columnist Suzy Exposito for Night 1 of Taylor Swift’s weeklong … takeover? Residency? Not sure yet what we’re calling this.

In any event, tonight won’t be my first time seeing the Eras tour; I was there back in March for the road show’s opener in Arizona. But I’m excited to see what’s changed, what’s different and of course how palpable the crowd frenzy is now that folks know what’s coming. — M.W.

Wrists filled with friendship bracelets

6:35 p.m . The first of tonight’s opening acts is 23-year-old Gracie Abrams, a talented L.A.-based singer-songwriter — and the daughter of filmmaker J.J. Abrams — who told me recently that Swift has been such a formative influence that she can’t “remember a time in my life where Taylor wasn’t the immediate go-to inevitable soundtrack.” Abrams added: “She has scored every formative memory I have” — a level of influence I don’t think I’ve ever heard an artist describe before. — M.W.

6:47 p.m. One thing I know about the show now that I didn’t know in March: the existence of the little tent in which Swift’s celebrity pals watch the show. Will definitely cruise by and try to clock who’s there — minutes (hours!) behind the teens on TikTok, no doubt. — M.W.

Happy fans at SoFi Stadium.

7:04 p.m. “Hi, L.A. — this is so crazy,” Abrams tells the crowd of tens of thousands at the top of her set, which is certainly fair considering that I saw her play the comparatively tiny Fonda Theatre in Hollywood just a few months ago.

Abrams’ Swift standom is no less intense onstage than it was in our interview: “This tour has been beyond our wildest dreams,” she says, going on to describe the Eras tour as “the best thing that’s ever happened.”

And yet she’s doing her breathy and introspective chamber-folk tunes with a poise that belies however amped she is inside. — M.W.

Gracie Abrams performs at SoFi Stadium.

7:05 p.m. A true Angeleno, Abrams asks the audience if they were at Swift’s “1989” shows at Staples Center — before the dreaded name change to Crypto.com Arena — back in 2015. — M.W.

7:10 p.m. A pre-show anecdote that Swifties (and their moms) should be able to relate to: As evidenced by the barren shelves that were once filled with letter beads, it was clear that fans had ransacked craft stores all over greater Los Angeles this week to partake in the Eras tour tradition of wearing homemade friendship bracelets to the concert. I searched Hollywood, Glendale and Pasadena — where at Michael’s, an agitated woman, likely some young girl’s mother, began flinging packets of beads with only numbers on them. “I can’t believe I’m doing this,” she swore under her breath, before smiling wryly at me. “It’s ALLLLL for the TikTok!” she said with a laugh. — Suzy Exposito

7:22 p.m. Next up as the evening’s second opening act is Haim, the sly L.A. sister trio who’ve been opening for Swift for what seems like eons. As with Abrams, I caught Haim recently at a small club (in this case the just-opened Bellwether); curious how they fare in the gigantic stadium setting. — M.W.

7:37 p.m. “Any Valley girls here tonight?” asks Alana Haim, whose sister Este volunteers that she was “born and raised in the 818” — Tarzana, specifically. (Este leaves the precise coordinates of her sisters’ origins unstated.) Then the trio rips into “Want You Back,” accompanied by video of a stroll down Ventura Boulevard where Sherman Oaks edges into Encino. — M.W.

7:48 p.m. Haim is really bringing the laid-back, ‘70s country-rock vibe to SoFi. These L.A. witches are a fitting opener for what’s essentially the biggest coven gathering this city’s seen in years. — S.E.

Haim's Danielle Haim performs at SoFi Stadium on Thursday.

7:52 p.m. Haim closes with “The Steps,” which feels like the rawest rock song I’ve heard at SoFi since … the Rolling Stones in 2021? — M.W.

7:56 p.m. Between the “Barbie” movie and the Eras tour, it’s been a banner summer for girl culture. I love seeing girlfriends (straight and gay) here, in their matching boots and fuzzy cowboy hats. Taylor is obviously not just for girls — dads too, and I’ve seen several guys here sporting tiaras, sequins and/or pink — but to be a girl feels aspirational in a place like this, even if it’s only for the next six nights. — S.E.

Fans at SoFi Stadium.

8:13 p.m. Spotted in the celebrity tent: Babyface! — M.W.

8:25 p.m. We happen to be seated next to Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt of “The Hills” fame. Heidi’s favorite Taylor era? “Folklore.” His? “Reputation.” I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that Speidi kindly gifted me a bracelet of beads from their shop, made of rose quartz and jade. Thanks y’all! — S.E.

8:29 p.m. Taylor time: Swift opens with “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince,” as she has every show on the tour, before moving into “Cruel Summer,” which has become an honest-to-goodness radio hit three years after its release. The roar of the crowd is absolutely deafening. — M.W.

Could Taylor Swift mania fuel a COVID cruel summer? What you need to know

Could Taylor Swift’s mega-tour have fans seeing red on their next COVID test? Here’s how officials say concertgoers can help protect themselves.

8:34 p.m. Swift dons a sparkly suit jacket to sing “The Man,” which she’s staging amid an old-school scene a la “Mad Men.” — M.W.

8:35 p.m. The tens of thousands of Swifties wearing light-up bracelets are glowing across the stadium for her song of LGBTQ solidarity, “You Need to Calm Down.” Taylor is for lovers! — S.E.

8:38 p.m. “Is there anyone here who put in an extensive amount of effort to be with us here tonight?” Swift asks. Then she wants to know if this extra effort can be put into two categories: “lyric memorization and your cute outfit?” With regard to cute outfits: seeing many a sparkly cowboy hat. And, yeah: Basically every human here knows every word to every song. — M.W.

8:48 p.m. Swift has come out to the end of her stage runway to sing “The Archer,” which means it’s time for the folks next to us to hold up their signs and shake them in the hope that Swift sees them. Directly in front of us: A girl of probably 8 whose sign reads “SLAY.” — M.W.

8:54 p.m. We have moved from the “Lover” era to the “Fearless” era, and what I’m thinking about as Swift sings the “Fearless” title track is how she’s managed to renew her fan base with young people who don’t view these songs as juvenile but as utterly up-to-date evocations of young love. Who else has grown up with her audience at the same time that she’s replaced it? — M.W.

8:59 p.m. Internet rumor had it that these SoFi shows were set to be filmed for a concert movie of some sort. Can confirm that there are multiple cameras on cables soaring above the crowd. — M.W.

9:00 p.m. Key change in “Love Story”? Still totally epic. — M.W.

Taylor Swift plays a guitar while her hair flies on stage.

9:02 p.m. We’re into the “Evermore” era with an assist from Haim, who’ve joined Swift for “No Body No Crime.” — M.W.

9:11 p.m. Was “Willow” as deliciously witchy as this when I saw her in Arizona. I don’t remember Taylor in a cape and her dancers holding glowing orbs, as they are here tonight. — M.W.

9:14 p.m. Swift is singing “Marjorie” and there is a woman in front of me shaking her hair and convulsing like Elaine Benes in “Seinfeld.” She must have caught the spirit — or had one too many margaritas. — S.E.

Taylor Swift in a floor length yellow dress and Danielle Haim on guitar perform onstage.

9:20 p.m. “We have a lot to catch up on, musically speaking,” Swift says, before explaining that the reason she didn’t tour for five years was because we had “much more important things we had to worry about” amid a “global pandemic.” Once she got back on the road, she says, people would ask her if she intended to play, “like, a three-hour show.” Yes, she says — that’s exactly what she intended to do. Cue “Champagne Problems.” — M.W.

9:22 p.m. Swift is taking a minute, head resting upon her moss-covered piano, to take in the crowd’s adulation. — M.W.

Taylor Swift plays her mossy piano.

9:30 p.m. Swift is staging “Tolerate It” as a dismal dinner with a partner completely uninterested in what she has to say about her day. Spend a second thinking about how wild that is for a stadium pop show. — M.W.

9:32 p.m. We hear boots clacking ominously across the stadium. The “Reputation” era is nigh. — S.E.

9:35 p.m. The “Reputation” portion of the show starts with “Ready for It,” which is — what would you even call this song? Confessional trap? (Please don’t call it that.) — M.W.

9:45 p.m. Wild to remember how controversial “Look What You Made Me Do” was when it first came out — for Swifties, this song is basically “Hotel California.” — M.W.

9:49 p.m. Hear me out — “Look What You Made Me Do” is a killer electroclash song that made it to the airwaves 15 years too late. — S.E.

9:52 p.m. We’ve reached the halfway mark — insane, obviously, given that the show has been going for 90 minutes — with “Enchanted,” which has the crowd singing along in fairy-tale abandon. — M.W.

9:59 p.m. Time for the “Red” portion, for which this crowd seems very, very primed. — M.W.

10:05 p.m. Spotted during “22”: Este Haim dancing in the aisle. — M.W.

10:10 p.m. “There is one more song from the ‘Red’ album that I wanna do,” Swift says. “Do you have about 10 minutes to spare?” — M.W.

10:11 p.m. Imagine: Over 60,000 Taylor fans screaming about Jake Gyllenhaal’s “F— the Patriarchy” keychain. — S.E.

10:13 p.m. “All Too Well”’s “little kid with glasses” line will never not get me. — M.W.

10:18 p.m. At the risk of giving into Taylormania, who else is out here regaling stadium crowds with 10-minute dissections of relationships gone wrong? It is truly insane that the summer’s biggest pop tour is also its most emotionally complicated. — M.W.

10:20 p.m. “All Too Well” also made for a really beautiful moment: I saw several moms cradling their up-past-their-bedtime daughters. — S.E.

10:23 p.m. Still left to go: “Folklore,” “1989” and “Midnights.” — M.W.

10:30 p.m. Hearing “The 1” really takes me back to that morning in pandemic-plagued 2020 when Swift announced that “Folklore” was coming later that evening. Seems like an eternity ago. — M.W.

10:34 p.m. Wielding a mahogany guitar, Swift is perched atop a frame of a woodsy two-story house covered in leaves and moss. Jamming below is her trusty band. “This is a rendering of what I imagined in my head when I started writing ‘Folklore’ — two days into the pandemic,” she says. “I took the time to imagine myself not as a lonely millennial woman covered in cat hair and watching 70 hours of TV at a time… but as a Victorian woman writing on parchment with a quill in the woods and living in this house.” — S.E.

10:35 p.m. Have to love when an entire stadium of people sings, as in “Betty,” about a moment of being told to “go f— myself.” — M.W.

10:42 p.m. During “August,” Taylor lived out her best Kate Bush fantasy by sprinting across the stage in a flowing white gown — then came crashing down to her knees as she cut to “Illicit Affairs.” High drama! — S.E.

10:47 p.m. “Illicit Affairs” tonight sounds like … a Disturbed song? Can’t say I can recall another moment when Taylor leaned as heavily into her aggro side as she’s doing right now. — M.W.

10:53 p.m. The conventional wisdom on “Folklore” and “Evermore” was that Swift made these albums knowing that touring wasn’t an option. But it’s fascinating to hear how she’s configured these songs for the biggest stages in the world. They’re dirty but polished, confessional but anthemic, intimate yet geared to the needs of more than 60,000 people seeking some kind of catharsis. — M.W.

Taylor Swift and dancers perform onstage.

11:00 p.m. Pop Taylor has arrived. We are into “1989” with “Style” and “Blank Space,” the latter of which has two dancers riding bikes down the stage runway as Taylor swings a light-up golf club. — M.W.

11:02 p.m. “Shake It Off” is as bad tonight as it was when it came out a decade ago. Moving on... — M.W.

11:09 p.m. “Welcome to the acoustic set,” says Swift. — M.W.

11:18 p.m. For tonight’s surprise songs, Swift does “I Can See You” (from “Speak Now”) on guitar, and “Maroon” (from “Midnights”) on piano. — M.W.

11:19 p.m. At the time, “I Can See You” was — and honestly still is — a risqué song compared with the rest of her oeuvre, a psychosexual thriller told from the point of view of teenage Taylor. — S.E.

Taylor Swift and dancers lean forward on stage at SoFi Stadium in front of the crowd.

11:22 p.m. Now we are into the “Midnights” era, with a video of splashing waves that turn into a moody-looking cloud. — M.W.

11:23 p.m. Oh, Swift is in pop diva mode, performing “Lavender Haze” wearing a purple feathered robe. — M.W.

11:27 p.m. All I have to say about “Anti-Hero” is that the image of a giant “lurching toward your favorite city” remains one of the most indelible of the 2020s. — M.W.

11:34 p.m. At the heart of “Midnights” is the intimacy between a superstar and her therapist — bless them, wherever they are — and we get the transcripts in the language of synth-pop. — S.E.

11:35 p.m. Do I love “Vigilante S—“? I do not. It might be the corniest song in Swift’s catalog — a catalog that includes “Welcome to New York!” But she is giving it her all tonight, with 10 dancers serving up big “Chicago” energy — M.W.

11:38 p.m. We’re well past the three-hour mark as Swift starts up “Mastermind.” — M.W.

11:41 p.m. “I will never forget this,” Swift says as her band revs up “Karma.” — M.W.

11:45 p.m. And that’s a wrap, on a genuinely epic night of music. Now, to try to get out of this stadium... Thanks for reading! — M.W.

Breaking news, rocket sleds, stunts and a  $100m budget: inside taylor swift’s ‘unbelievable’ eras tour.

Taylor Swift

Fifty-two dates, 20 stadiums, 10 albums, 44 songs taking up more than three hours: Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour , which kicked off March 17 at State Farm Arena in Glendale, Arizona, is a production of epic scale.

There are nonstop costume changes, large-scale set swaps and stunts on the outrageous order of a Las Vegas residency.

“It’s almost like a different Broadway musical for each song,” Dave Brooks — Billboard Senior Director of Live Music and Touring — told The Post.

“The production quality is just so far ahead of whatever has been [done] … They’re building these very elaborate sets that they’re using for several songs as opposed to the whole concert.”

The price tag is also astronomical.

“The cost has gotta be well north of $100 million … probably a lot more than that,” said Brooks. “It’s gonna be one of the most expensive tours ever, but it will also be one of the highest-generating tours financially. So it pays for itself basically.”

And it seems to have put all of the Ticketmaster-crashing drama behind the “Anti-Hero” singer with her legion of Swifties.

Erica Gabriel, an event producer who traveled from Salt Lake City to Glendale to see the second show of the tour on March 18, told The Post that the experience was “unbelievable.”

“It literally exceeded every expectation that I had set for myself — like, by 10 times — and I already had high expectations.”

Here’s a peek inside Swift’s next-level spectacle.

Setting the stage

A gigantic catwalk stretches nearly the entire length of the stadium, the better for Swift to work the runway with an army of over a dozen dancers.

A gigantic catwalk stretches nearly the entire length of the stadium, the better for Swift to work the runway with an army of over a dozen dancers.

The process of building that stage — and all the rest of the sets — begins at the venue weeks before the pop princess launches into the “Lover” opener, “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince.”

For a stadium tour of this magnitude, Brooks said, “They have advance teams that can be prepping and pre-building.”

Closer to the date, a team of an estimated 90 trucks pulls into the venue to construct the sprawling scene for Swift to sing career-spanning hits ranging from her 2006 self-titled debut album to her latest LP, 2022’s “Midnights.”

“It takes two to three weeks, in my understanding,” said Brooks.

The big set piece

One of the structures — the mossy cabin atop which Swift sings during the “Folklore” section — seems especially tricky to build and break down from city to city.

“It’s almost like you think that they’d have to have two,” said Brooks, “so they can be building one while the other is [being used].”

A daring stunt

Taylor Swift diving into a stage trapdoor on her Eras Tour.

Swift takes stage-diving to a whole different level.

Rather than plummeting into the crowd, the 33-year-old superstar plunges headfirst into a trapdoor in the stage after singing her breakout hit “Tim McGraw.” Then she appears to swim through the stadium via a water-filled catwalk before resurfacing — dry and fresh in a new costume — to perform “Lavender Haze.”

The stunt likely involves her landing on a crash mat and then using the same “rocket sled” apparatus that she employed to zoom through the stadium hidden from view during her 2018 “Reputation” Tour. Brooks credits the oceanic illusion to precisely timed, pre-filmed visuals that “are almost kind of a second performer with her up there.”

Costumes galore

Taylor Swift sings 44 songs over more than three hours during her Eras Tour.

Swift wore more than a dozen different looks on opening night, including a gold Roberto Cavalli flapper dress, a lavender Alberta Ferretti gown and bedazzled bodysuits by Atelier Versace and Oscar de la Renta.

Quick changes are key.

“All costumes are typically modified in some way that’s going to make it really easy to get in and out of,” Dan George, a onetime tour manager who has worked for Shakira and Britney Spears, told The Post. “A dress that would typically have buttons, maybe they add a zipper on it instead. Or the performer might need to have a pouch for a battery pack in a  costume. You know, little customizations that make things easier.”

A marathon playlist

Taylor Swift on her Eras Tour.

And at the end of the day, Swift— who will bring her Eras Tour to MetLife Stadium May 26 to May 28 —  is the ultimate special effect, no matter how massive the production is.

“Her endurance is really the ‘next level’ to me,” said Brooks. “The fact that she’s gonna do these marathon, three-hour-plus shows — it’s gotta be exhausting.”

George, however, notes that her style of singing isn’t as tiring as some divas’.

“Taylor is more of a stylistic vocalist. She’s got a very pretty voice, but she’s not a power vocalist. So when she’s singing live, she’s not screaming at the top of her lungs,” he said. “So it’s not, like, super challenging for her vocally.”

Still, the performance is an amazing feat.

Brooks said, “You can innovate a stage, a touring element. But you can’t really innovate the human body too much — and the person’s ability to deliver.”

Taylor Swift News: Pop Superstar Matches Beyoncé's VMA Record

Taylor Swift won seven trophies at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on September 11. The pop superstar now has a total of 30 VMAs, tying with Beyoncé for the most wins in VMA history.

Swift won five awards for her track "Fortnight" with Post Malone, which collected Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Direction, Best Editing, and Song of the Summer. The 34-year-old was also named Artist of the Year for the second year in a row and secured the award for Best Pop.

In her acceptance speech, Swift thanked her fans for "making my life what it is," and gave a a shoutout to her "Fortnight" video collaborators, as well as her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

"Something that I'll always remember is when I would finish a take and I'd say cut and we'd be done with that take, I would always just hear someone cheering 'woo' from across the studio where we were shooting it, and that one person was my boyfriend, Travis," she said . "Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic, so I wanna thank him for adding that to our shoot because I'll always remember that."

Musician Taylor Swift began earning renown as a country singer by the age of 16. Early hits like “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me” appealed to country and pop fans alike and helped fuel the multiplatinum success of her albums, including the award-winning Fearless . Now a pop megastar with 14 Grammys, she is the first artist to win Album of the Year four times. Named Time ’s 2023 Person of the Year, Swift is currently performing on her record-breaking Eras Tour and is dating professional football player Travis Kelce . The “Shake It Off” and “Anti-Hero” singer released her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department , in April 2024.

FULL NAME: Taylor Alison Swift BORN: December 13, 1989 BIRTHPLACE: Reading, Pennsylvania ASTROLOGICAL SIGN: Sagittarius

Taylor Alison Swift was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, on December 13, 1989. Swift spent her early years with her parents, Scott and Andrea, and brother, Austin, on the family’s Christmas tree farm in nearby Wyomissing. “I had the most magical childhood, running free and going anywhere I wanted to in my head,” she told Rolling Stone . She learned to ride horses and competed, but a greater passion soon took root.

Swift followed in the musical footsteps of her grandmother Marjorie Finlay, a professional opera singer. By age 10, Swift sang at various local events, including fairs and contests. She sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game at age 11 and began learning guitar and writing her own songs at 12. (Her songwriting parallels the poetry of her distant cousin Emily Dickinson .) Her early music idols included Shania Twain and The Chicks.

To pursue her music career, Swift often visited Nashville, Tennessee, the country music capital. There, she co-wrote songs and tried to land a recording contract. Noting her dedication, her family moved to nearby Hendersonville when she was 13 in an attempt to further young Swift’s career. She attended Hendersonville High School before finishing her education through the homeschooling program of Aaron Academy, a private Christian school, once her musical career took off.

One of today’s biggest pop stars, Swift has worked her way from performing at local venues in Tennessee to commanding stadiums full of Swifties—her adoring fans—on international tours. A stellar performance at The Bluebird Café in Nashville helped her get a contract with Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Records at age 14.

taylor swift sings into a microphone headset as she plays acoustic guitar on a stage, she wears a yellow sleeveless dress and silver necklace

She spent her early career as a country musician, and her first single, “ Tim McGraw ,” was named after one of the genre’s biggest stars. The 2006 song, which she wrote in her first-year math class, became a Top 10 hit on Billboard ’s country charts, quickly launching Swift into the spotlight. McGraw and fellow country music singer Faith Hill even brought Swift on their Soul2Soul tour the next year as an opening act. Reminiscing on the tour years later, McGraw told ET Canada , “Faith and I both knew that there was no stopping her. She’s a special talent.”

It wasn’t long before Swift began receiving critical praise for her work. The teenager won the Horizon Award from the Country Music Association (CMA) and the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award for Top New Female Vocalist in 2007. The following year, she was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys. She became the youngest artist to win the Grammy for Album of the Year for Fearless in 2010.

The country music darling eventually began experimenting with genre. With her fifth album, 1989 , she decisively reintroduced herself as a pop musician. Her new sound excited fans, and the 2014 release is one of her most successful to date, spending 11 weeks atop the Billboard 200 and selling more than 1.2 million copies in its first week.

Not everything about her music changed, though. Personal experiences, including her romantic relationships, continue to fuel Swift’s songwriting. “I’m enthralled by relationships, and I love the drama in them, but that’s usually where it lives,” Swift told Rolling Stone in 2009, maintaining “I’m not a dramatic person.” Hardly the first musician to utilize this practice, the pop star usually doesn’t reveal who her song subjects. Instead, her loyal fans obsess over easter eggs in her lyrics and music videos to pinpoint a likely person.

Since March 2023, Swift has been performing on her headline-grabbing Eras Tour. It marks her sixth international tour, having first headlined her own concert series after releasing her sophomore album, Fearless . When presale tickets for the Eras Tour went live in November 2022, so many fans attempted to snag their seats that Ticketmaster canceled the general sale, leading to a congressional hearing about the debacle. Already one of the highest-grossing touring musicians as of July 2022, Swift has earned more than $1 billion on the Eras Tour , surpassing Elton John ’s record-setting farewell tour that spanned five years. The Eras Tour wraps in December 2024 after dozens more concerts, mostly abroad.

Swift’s successes in 2023 also include: the release of the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album, the record-setting concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour , two more No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, tying with Drake as the artist with the most Billboard Music Awards in history, dethroning Bad Bunny as Spotify’s and Apple Music’s most streamed artist of the year, and achieving billionaire status. All that culminated in Time naming her its 2023 Person of the Year. Swift is the fifth woman to receive the honor.

Early in 2024, Swift became the first artist to win the Grammy for Album of the Year four times, further cementing her place in the history books.

taylor swift smiles and stands while holding three grammy awards, she wears a strapless orange and hot pink gown with a gold chocker necklace

Swift has won 14 Grammy Awards out of 52 nominations.

She was first nominated in 2008 for Best New Artist. Although Amy Winehouse claimed the honor, 20-year-old Swift lived up to her promising career start by collecting four Grammys the following year. Fearless won Album of the Year and Best Country Album, and “White Horse” was named Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 2009.

Swift has now won Album of the Year four times: for Fearless , 1989 , folklore , and Midnights. She is the only artist to have accomplished this feat, setting the record in 2024. Midnights also won the award for Best Pop Vocal Album this year.

Even so, Swift has never won the top song honor of Song of the Year, though she has received a record seven nominations in the category. As for Best Country Song, the artist has won twice in five nominations; “Mean” earned the trophy the year after “White Horse” did.

The singer-songwriter has won many other accolades, including nine CMA Awards and eight ACM Awards. Both country music organizations have twice named her Entertainer of the Year. Since her first in 2009, Swift has taken home 23 Video Music Awards, second only to Beyoncé . Billboard called her Woman of the Year in 2012, one of Swift’s 39 awards from the publication. She is tied with Drake for as the artist with the most Billboard Music Awards trophies.

In December 2023, Swift notched another first when she received her first Golden Globe Award nomination for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour . Her concert film competed in but didn’t win Cinematic and Box Office Achievement at the January 2024 ceremony.

In September 2024, Swift won seven awards at MTV Video Music Awards, including Artist of the Year. She now has a total of 30 VMAs, matching Beyoncé's record for most wins.

Since her first single, “Tim McGraw,” in 2006, Swift’s music has found a home on the Billboard charts. As of June 24, 2024, she has had 263 songs grace the mainstream Hot 100. That includes 12 No. 1 hits and a record-setting 59 songs in the top 10; no woman has had more top 10 hits, and Swift only trails Drake among all artists. She also holds nine No. 1 Hot Country Songs, including “Our Song” and “Should’ve Said No.”

“Fearless” debuted at No. 9 on the mainstream chart in November 2008, marking Swift’s first top 10 song. Her first Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper was roughly four years away. That came in September 2012 with Grammy-nominated “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” Her other No 1. songs include:

  • “Shake It Off”
  • “Blank Space”
  • “Bad Blood”
  • “Look What You Made Me Do”
  • “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)”
  • “Anti-Hero”
  • “Cruel Summer”
  • “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version) [From The Vault]”
  • “Fortnight”

At 10 minutes and 13 seconds, “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” is the longest No. 1 hit in history. “Shake It Off” is Swift’s only diamond-certified song, having sold the equivalent of 10 million copies.

To date, Swift has released 19 albums, including 11 original studio albums, four rereleases, and four live albums. Excluding those live recordings, every album since her sophomore effort, Fearless , has nabbed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for at least one week. In December 2023, she became the first living artist to have five albums simultaneously rank among the chart’s top 10.

Her first album came in 2006 with Taylor Swift , and her newest album is 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department . Her latest rerecorded album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) , debuted in October 2023. Her albums, in order, are:

The young musician’s self-titled debut album was released in October 2006 when she was 16. Spurred on by the success of songs like “Tim McGraw,” “Teardrops on My Guitar,” and “Our Song,” it became a No. 1 country album in August 2007 and held the top spot for a total of 24 weeks. Indicating her future crossover success, the album also reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200. Taylor Swift has sold more than 7 million copies to date.

In November 2008, Swift released her next album, Fearless , which quickly hit the top of both the country and pop charts, marking her first No. 1 mainstream album. It maintained its apex ranking on the charts for weeks on end. By the end of the year, Swift had become 2008’s highest-selling country artist.

Now a Diamond-certified album, Fearless earned Swift her first Grammy Awards in January 2010. In addition to Best Country Album, it took home one of the night’s top honors with Album of the Year. The track “White Horse” won Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance, while “You Belong With Me” was nominated for three Grammys. Also named Album of the Year at the CMA and ACM Awards, Fearless featured the top 10 hits “Love Story,” “Fearless,” and “Change.”

After skeptics doubted her involvement in her songwriting, Swift chose to write her next album alone. Speak Now came out in October 2010 and immediately found success. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold more than 1 million copies in its first week. Popular tracks included “Mine,” “Back To December,” “Speak Now,” and the Grammy-winning “Mean.” Swift was once again nominated for Best Country Album at the Grammys but didn’t win.

Edging her way into pop music, Swift followed with Red , which featured her first No. 1 single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and also topped 1 million in its first week of sales. The October 2012 release collected Grammy nominations for Album of the Year and Best Country Album. “I Knew You Were Trouble,” “Red,” and “Begin Again” were among its most popular songs.

With her next effort, Swift stepped outside her country music roots squarely into mainstream pop. She released 1989 in October 2014. It tied her record (set by Fearless ) for most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, produced three chart-topping singles, and moved more than 1.2 million copies in its first week. That made Swift the first artist to pass the 1 million mark in opening-week sales for three albums. She won her second Album of the Year award at the Grammys in February 2016 as well as Best Pop Vocal Album for her work.

In late August 2017, using an image of a snake, Swift revealed that she would release her sixth studio album, reputation , that November. Swift debuted the first single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” on August 24. In the music video, Swift played characters of all her misrepresentations. The video had more than 19 million views on YouTube within the first day.

Days before reputation ’s scheduled November 10 release, its secret tracklist was leaked to social media. Swift responded by posting the complete list to her Instagram page: 15 songs, including a collaborative effort with Ed Sheeran and rapper Future titled “End Game.” The two later appeared in the video for the track, which debuted in January 2018.

Reputation sold 1.05 million copies in the United States over its first four days. Along with giving the artist her fourth consecutive album to surpass 1 million in sales for its opening week, that total made reputation the top-selling album of 2017. Its success continued into 2018, surpassing 2 million in sales while generating the release of seven singles. By the end of the year, Grammy-nominated reputation had been honored with Favorite Pop/Rock Album at the American Music Awards and Top Selling Album at the Billboard Music Awards.

On April 26, 2019, Swift debuted “ME!” with Brendon Urie of Panic! at the Disco, along with a video of the duo singing and dancing amid a panoply of elaborate sets and swirling colors. It became the first single from her seventh studio album, Lover , with “You Need to Calm Down” and the title track also hitting the airwaves as singles over the next few months. The album was released in August.

In November, Swift claimed a whopping six wins at the American Music Awards, including Artist of the Year and Artist of the Decade honors. Swift also received her third consecutive Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. A few weeks later, it was reported that Lover was the only album to sell 1 million copies in the U.S. in 2019.

Nearly four years later, Lover ’s “Cruel Summer” was promoted as her latest single amid her highly successful Eras tour. The song enjoyed renewed success, becoming Swift’s 10 th song to top the Billboard Hot 100.

On July 23, 2020, Swift announced on Instagram that she planned to release her eighth studio album, folklore . The 16-track album—made with Aaron Dessner of The National, Jack Antonoff of Bleachers, and Justin Vernon, better known as Bon Iver—debuted the next day at midnight. The alternative influence of her collaborators was apparent throughout.

Folklore produced the top 10 hits “The 1” and “Exile” featuring Bon Iver, plus went on to win Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammys. Swift also made history that year, becoming the only female solo artist to win that award three times.

Less than six months later, Swift dropped another surprise album to accompany folklore . She announced on December 10, 2020, that evermore would release at midnight the next day. “To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing songs,” Swift wrote in a social media post . “In the past I’ve always treated albums as one-off eras and moved onto planning the next one after an album was released. There was something different with folklore. In making it, I felt less like I was departing and more like I was returning.” Evermore earned a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year, though unlike its sister album, it didn’t win.

Swift released her 10 th studio album, Midnights , at midnight on October 21, 2022. Three hours later, she released seven extra tracks in a deluxe version titled Midnights (3 am Edition) . The album broke new ground for the already prolific Swift, making her the first artist to have a song on all of the top 10 slots on the Billboard Hot 100. That included “Anti-Hero” at No. 1, “Snow On The Beach” featuring Lana Del Rey , “Lavender Haze,” and “Karma.” Actor Zoë Kravitz earned writing credits on the latter two songs, and Jack Antonoff played a heavy hand in the album’s creation, cowriting 11 of Midnights ’ 13 songs.

The Tortured Poets Department

At the 2024 Grammy Awards , Swift announced her next album, The Tortured Poets Department , would arrive on April 19, 2024. Fans were in for an even bigger surprise early that morning when the singer revealed it was a double album. The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology included 15 additional songs, bringing the total to 31 tracks.

Tortured Poets marks Swift’s 14 th No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, tying Jay-Z’s record for most among solo artists. Only The Beatles have more, at 19. Within 12 hours of its release, Tortured Poets broke the single-day streaming record on Spotify before becoming the most streamed album across platforms in a single week in history. Fans in the United States streamed the collection more than 891.3 million times , according to data firm Luminate.

Taylor’s Version albums

After the master recordings to her first six studio albums were sold in 2019, Swift decided to rerecord her old music to regain artistic and financial control of her catalog. So far, she has released four of six: Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in April 2021, Red (Taylor’s Version) in November 2021,  Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) in July 2023, and  1989 (Taylor’s Version) in October 2023 . Each included previously unreleased songs labeled as “From The Vault,” some of which she recorded with fellow musicians Keith Urban , Ed Sheeran , Chris Stapleton , and Phoebe Bridgers, among others.

Swift hasn’t shared when she will rerelease Taylor Swift and reputation .

When she was 26, Swift was the highest-paid musician—and celebrity of any industry—of 2016 per Forbes , earning $170 million. It was one successful year among many, allowing the pop star to amass a substantial net worth. By late October 2023, Swift had become a billionaire, according to Bloomberg .

As of June 24, 2024, Forbes estimates Swift has a net worth of $1.3 billion. The publication also reports she is the first person to become a billionaire primarily from songwriting and performing. In 2023, she earned an estimated $131 million on Spotify alone, as the platform’s worldwide top-streamed artist of the year.

Her wealth has skyrocketed in the past year and a half, fueled by the pop star’s highly successful Eras Tour. Pollstar reported in December 2023 that the ongoing tour has earned $1,039,263,762 , making Swift the first musician to gross over $1 billion on a single tour. The trade publication previously estimated the tour brings in $14 million in ticket sales each night.

Swift ranks No. 17 on Pollstar ’s list of highest-grossing touring artists since 1980, selling nearly $925 million in tickets from her first five tours and other appearances as of July 2022. The only women higher on the list are Madonna , Celine Dion , and Beyoncé .

Contributing to her overall net worth are her real estate holdings. According to Business Insider , her properties total $84 million. She also has lucrative endorsement deals with Capitol One, Stella McCartney, Diet Coke, Apple, and more.

Over the years, the musician has shared some of her fortune to help others. For example, in 2013, she funded the $4 million Taylor Swift Education Center at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. The facility opened with three classrooms, a learning lab, and a space dedicated to exhibits for children. In an interview with CMT Hot 20 Countdown , she explained that “music education is really such an important part of my life. My life changed so completely when I discovered writing my own songs and playing guitar, and that can’t necessarily all be taught to you in school because there aren’t enough hours in the day.”

The megastar has been involved in a few legal disputes, which all have gone in her favor. In August 2017, she testified in a trial against David Mueller, a former radio DJ she accused of groping her four years earlier. Mueller denied Swift’s allegations and said the incident cost him his job, which led him to sue Swift, her mother, and a radio station employee in 2015. Swift countersued him for alleged assault and battery, and a jury ruled in her favor in 2017, awarding her $1 in damages as a symbolic gesture.

Swift responded to the verdict: “I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society, and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”

Also in 2017, Swift was on the receiving end of a lawsuit when two songwriters claimed that she stole the chorus of their song “Playas Gon’ Play” for her hit “Shake It Off.” Although a judge dismissed the case in early 2018 on the grounds that the “allegedly infringed lyrics are short phrases that lack the modicum of originality and creativity required for copyright protection,” an appeals court revived the suit in October 2019. Shortly before the trial was scheduled to begin, a judge dismissed the case in December 2022 at the request of both parties. A few media outlets reported a settlement, but if so, the terms weren’t publicly released.

The musician was trapped in another copyright lawsuit when a Mississippi woman claimed “a number of creative elements” from her self-published poetry book appeared in Swift’s companion book for her Lover (2019) album. The author sued in August 2022 but voluntarily dropped her case the next July.

In November 2018, Swift signed with Universal Music Group’s Republic Records. The deal granted the musician ownership of her master recordings, something she didn’t have in her agreement with her first label, Big Machine Records.

The next June, Swift revealed her dismay that Big Machine sold her catalog of music from her first six albums, up to reputation , to a company owned by Scooter Braun , the now-retired manager of artists like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande and a person she accused of bullying tactics. “Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy,” she wrote on Tumblr . “Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.” Just before the August 2019 release of Lover , Swift confirmed she would rerecord her old music to regain artistic and financial control of her catalog.

Swift’s catalog was sold again, in October 2020, to Shamrock Holdings for around $300 million. In a lengthy post on Twitter (now called X), Swift gave her fans an update:

“As you know, for the past year, I’ve been actively trying to regain ownership of my master recordings. With that goal in mind, my team attempted to enter into negotiations with Scooter Braun. “Scooter’s team wanted me to sign an ironclad NDA stating I would never say another word about Scooter Braun unless it was positive, before we could even look at the financial records of BMLG... I would have to sign a document that would silence me forever before I could even have a chance to bid on my own work. My legal team said that this is absolutely NOT normal, and they’ve never seen an NDA like this presented unless it was to silence an assault accuser by paying them off. He would never even quote my team a price. These master recordings were not for sale to me.”

Swift added the deal still allows Braun to profit from her music and that she was in the process of re-recording her old music. Her first rerecorded release, “Love Story (Taylor’s Version),” came in mid-February 2021. So far, she has reissued four of six albums from her early catalog.

travis kelce and taylor swift stand on a football field at night, he has one arm around her shoulders and they hold hands

Currently, Swift is dating NFL football player Travis Kelce . On a July 2023 episode of his New Heights podcast , Kelce explained how he tried to give Swift his number on a friendship bracelet after attending the Eras Tour in Kansas City. Soon after, Swift reached out, and they went public with their romance in the fall. “Obviously, I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them... I’ve never dealt with it,” Kelce told The Wall Street Journal . “But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it.”

Swift attended 12 of his NFL games in the 2023 season and postseason. “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” she told Time . “I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

Kelce returned the support in mid-November 2023, traveling to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to attend one of her concerts on the Eras Tour. During the show, Swift changed one of her lyrics in the song “Karma” to reference Kelce, and the couple were caught kissing on camera for the first time . At a June 2024 concert in London, Kelce briefly joined Swift on stage, helping her complete an outfit change between songs.

Over the years, Swift has dated several celebrities. During much of 2008, reports circulated that she was dating musician Joe Jonas of The Jonas Brothers. The song “Forever & Always” is reportedly about Jonas. The following year, Swift briefly dated actor Taylor Lautner , whom she met while they filmed the 2010 movie Valentine’s Day . Swift then dated fellow singer-songwriter John Mayer for a brief period beginning in late 2009; he’s thought to be the inspiration for her song “Dear John.”

From there, Swift was romantically linked to actors Cory Monteith and Jake Gyllenhaal in 2010, then Conor Kennedy—son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. —in 2012. She celebrated the new year with One Direction’s Harry Styles in 2013, but the relationship ended later that year. In 2015, Swift dated DJ and music producer Calvin Harris, though the couple reportedly broke up in June 2016. Shortly after that, the pop star began dating actor Tom Hiddleston , but the couple split three months later.

Swift’s longest relationship to date was with actor Joe Alwyn. The pair met at the 2016 Met Gala and were together from 2017 until spring 2023. Beyond being another boyfriend to spark her songwriting, Alwyn also helped write songs on her folklore , evermore , and Midnights albums under the pseudonym William Bowery. After their breakup, Swift briefly dated musician Matty Healy, lead singer of The 1975 band.

Beyond her romantic relationships, Swift has had many high-profile friendships—with singer and actor Selena Gomez , model Karlie Kloss , and actor Blake Lively , to name a few—as well as headline-making feuds. Chief among those is her beef with rapper Kanye West .

kayne west speaks into a handheld microphone on a stage as taylor swift stands feet away holding a silver trophy, he wears a black shirt with jeans and sunglasses, she wears a bejeweled one strap dress

In 2009, when Swift won the MTV Video Music Award’s Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me,” West led to the stage as the young singer gave her acceptance speech. He took the mic and famously declared, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!”

The stunned Swift could not finish her acceptance speech, and West was removed from the show. When Beyoncé accepted her award for Best Video of the Year later in the night, she called Swift to the stage to finish her speech. West later apologized to Swift privately and publicly on The Jay Leno Show .

In early 2016, West released his song “Famous,” which includes a lyric taking credit for her fame and calling her a derogatory word. The rapper said Swift had approved the line in a phone call, though her team initially denied the conversation. Days later, Swift said in a Grammys acceptance speech:

“I wanna say to all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work, and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who loved you who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world.”

Kim Kardashian , who was married to West then, defended her husband in a GQ interview that summer and released clips of the phone call between the musicians. Although edited, the recordings proved Swift’s PR team had been lying in their initial statement. Kardashian also implied Swift was a snake in a July 2016 social media post . The pop star alluded to the fight in the songs “Look What You Made Me Do” and “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” from her reputation (2017) album. She has also used snakes in music videos and onstage in concerts. The feud briefly reignited in March 2020 when a 25-minute video of the phone conversation leaked online.

Previously having released several concert movies, Swift made a bigger splash with her Netflix documentary Miss Americana . The January 2020 release covered the makings of her recent studio albums as well as other high-profile events like her sexual assault trial. Miss Americana earned a limited run in theaters simultaneously to its streaming release.

Swift’s newest concert movie, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour , capitalizes on her massive star power. The film opened exclusively in theaters—3,850 locations in North America alone—in October 2023. According to Comscore, no other concert movie enjoyed as wide of a release . It also had showtimes in some 90 other countries and grossed more than $261 million worldwide , making it the highest-grossing concert film of all time . Swift sweetened the show for at-home viewers with two extended versions. Disney+ subscribers can watch the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) , featuring five additional songs. The movie is also available for rent on other streaming platforms with three additional songs.

Swift has also dabbled in acting. She appeared in the 2010 blockbuster Valentine’s Day alongside Julia Roberts , Jamie Foxx , Jessica Biel , Bradley Cooper , and other Hollywood heavyweights. A voice role in The Lorax (2012) and another role in The Giver (2014) followed. In December 2019, Swift was featured in a live-action adaptation of the famed Broadway musical Cats , along with Jennifer Hudson , James Corden , and Rebel Wilson . She also teamed with Cats creator Andrew Lloyd Webber to write a song, “Beautiful Ghosts,” for the movie. Swift also had a cameo in 2022’s Amsterdam .

From the Super Bowl to ‘So High School’: A timeline of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship

When Taylor Swift took home the award for video of the year at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, she used her speech to thank her team, fans and one person very special to her: Travis Kelce.

The pop star won the final award of the evening for her song “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone .

"The thing is that this video seems very sad when you watch it, but it actually was like the most fun video to make," she said after thanking her team and collaborators. "Something that I'll always remember is that when I would finish a take... I would always just hear someone like, cheering from across the studio where we were shooting it. And that one person was my boyfriend, Travis."

"Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic. So I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot, because I'll always remember that," she said. Swift went on to encourage people watching to register to vote in a different election; Swift endorsed presidential candidate Kamala Harris the day prior.

Though Kelce was not in the audience for the VMAs, he and Swift appear to be going strong.

Whether it’s attending his football games or her concerts, the couple knows how to cheer each other on. They also have shared what they do on their downtime, like Swift watching “Grey’s Anatomy” and both of them cooking together.

Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce

Kelce famously expressed his interest in the singer after he saw his first “Eras Tour” concert last summer at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The two officially became an item, and since then, their love has traveled internationally, with Kelce being spotted at her shows in Argentina , Singapore, Australia and France .

Swift and Kelce have been dating since at least September 2023, when the "Anti-Hero" singer first popped up at a Chiefs game to cheer on the tight end. The appearance broke the internet and came after months of dating rumors.

Throughout the rest of the NFL season, Swift became a fixture in suites and on TV screens, atten ding more than 10 Chiefs games a nd making an appearance at the Super Bowl .

How did they get here? Here's a detailed timeline of their relationship.

May 12, 2023: Taylor Swift says she's an Eagles fan

Taylor Swift, who was born in Pennsylvania, released the song "Gold Rush" in 2020, which features the lyrics, "My Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door."

During her May 12 Philadelphia stop on the "Eras Tour," Swift cleared up speculation about the lyrics by revealing that she was referring to the NFL team , not the "Hotel California" band.

“Guys, like, c’mon. I’m from Philly. Of course it’s the team,” she said onstage in a video  shared  by the NFL.

In February, the Eagles lost to the Kansas City Chiefs at the 2023 Super Bowl. The game made headlines for being the first time brothers played against each other in the championship game.

Enter: Travis Kelce.

July 8, 2023: Travis Kelce attends 'Eras Tour' stop in Kansas City

Travis Kelce, on the heels of his Super Bowl victory over brother Jason Kelce, attended one of Swift’s “Eras Tour” concerts like millions of fans in the summer of 2023. But while Swifties were looking forward to hearing some of the musician’s biggest hits, Travis Kelce arrived with a plan to get Swift’s attention.

The athlete shared on the July 26 episode of the “New Heights” podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother, that he created a friendship bracelet with his phone number and wanted to give it to Swift at one of her Arrowhead Stadium shows in Kansas City.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings. So I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her,” Travis Kelce explained on the podcast July 26.

Night Two Of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour - Kansas City, MO

He was bummed but still appreciated Swift’s impressive performance. “She doesn’t meet anybody or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personal. But it was an unbelievable show,” he said.

Jason Kelce chimed in and joked, “She probably just hasn’t gotten over the Super Bowl yet. She’s a big Eagles fan, so maybe she just made something up and just didn’t want to talk to you.”

Travis Kelce reflected on this podcast shoutout at a Feb. 7 press conference ahead of the 2024 Super Bowl, revealing that he “never thought it would have landed.”

“I didn’t even think I would have gotten a response from her,” he said.

Aug. 2, 2023: Travis Kelce is asked about Taylor Swift by a reporter

NFL Network reporter Andrew Siciliano in an Aug. 2 interview asked the Chiefs tight end about the pop star .

As soon as Siciliano mentioned the “Anti-Hero” singer’s name in the video, Travis Kelce started laughing. The journalist then started to ask about his previous attempt to get Swift’s attention.

“I said what I said,” Travis Kelce replied. “And I meant what I said when I said it.”

He continued, “You know, what? It is what it is. I’m not going to talk about my personal life. I know what you writers want to hear. And you want to hear more about that, and I’m not going to give you anything.”

Siciliano pressed on, wondering if Swift reached out to Travis Kelce.

“And that’s going to wrap it up here at NFL training camp,” he playfully said before the clip ended, skirting the question.

Late August 2023: Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift hang out in New York

Travis Kelce and Swift hung out in New York more than a month before Swift attended the Chiefs-Bears game Sept. 24, a source close to the situation told TODAY — meaning they linked up sometime before the end of August.

Aug. 31, 2023: Jason Kelce teases Travis Kelce for his mustache — with a reference to Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce discussed his decision to bring back a mustache during the Chiefs' training camp on the Season Two premiere of his podcast “New Heights,” which came out Aug. 31, 2023. He said he has styled his facial hair that way every training camp for the past few years to imitate his coach.

“Have you found out what Taylor Swift thinks of your mustache?” Jason Kelce cheekily asked, likely poking fun of his brother’s famous failed attempt to give her a friendship bracelet during her Kansas City stop on the “Eras Tour” in July.

“Yeah, we’re not going to bring up Taylor Swift in this episode, but something tells me she’s going to like it,” Travis Kelce responded with a smirk.

Travis and Jason Kelce discuss the tight end's mustache and mention Taylor Swift.

Sept. 15, 2023: Jason Kelce addresses dating rumors involving brother Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift

In September — two months after Travis Kelce said he tried to make a move on Swift — the dating rumors stayed strong, and Travis Kelce’s brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, weighed in on several occasions.

After Philadelphia defeated the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 14, analyst and retired NFL star Tony Gonzalez unexpectedly referenced Swift in an interview with Jason Kelce and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. He couched the question by saying his 15-year-old daughter is “a big fan of a certain pop star.”

“You have a family member, a brother, and I’ve been hearing rumors. ... Can you comment?” he asked Jason Kelce.

“I’ve seen these rumors,” Jason Kelce responded. “I cannot comment.”

Jason Kelce

He added, “Ever since ‘Catching Kelce,’ everybody’s been infatuated with Travis’ love life, so I don’t really know what’s going on there. I know Trav is having fun and we’ll see what happens with whoever he ends up with,” before laughing. ( Travis Kelce’s search for love was documented on the E! reality series “Catching Kelce” in 2016. )

Jason Kelce later backtracked during a Sept. 20 appearance on 94 WIP .

“Tony kind of blindsided me with that question on Thursday night,” he said. “It’s hard to answer because I don’t really know a lot about what’s happening with Travis’ love life. His business is his business. I stay out of that world. But having said that, I think he’s doing great. I think it’s all 100% true. I hope that this s--- goes a mile.”

Sept. 17, 2023: Travis Kelce’s dating life becomes the talk of the NFL

Travis Kelce's public attempt at courting Swift stoked rumors that the two might be romantically linked.

As a result, NFL commentators took every opportunity to link the pair together, even while Travis Kelce was playing on the field.

“Touchdown, Travis Kelce! Kelce finds a blank space for the score,” commentator Ian Eagle said during the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Sept. 18, making a reference to Swift’s song “Blank Space.”

Rich Eisen, host of the “Rich Eisen Show,” also took part in the fun on his show, according to a TikTok compilation of several Swift song puns he was able to sneak into his program.

“Even though that bone bruise and the injury one would think is delicate, he’s been able to shake it off,” Eisen said of Travis Kelce, referencing Swift’s songs “Delicate” and “Shake It Off.”

Sept. 21, 2023: Travis Kelce addresses the dating rumors

In a Sept. 21 visit to “The Pat McAfee Show,” Travis Kelce responded to brother Jason’s comments to Tony Gonzalez the week before.

“No one actually knows what’s going on, especially when you got Jason Kelce on live television telling people both sides, he doesn’t know, it’s true, it’s this and that,” Travis Kelce said.

“The guy is absolutely ridiculous, can’t stay out of the freaking headlines,” he joked. “Please everybody, stop asking my brother about my love life.”

Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce also addressed the dating rumors head-on.

“I threw the ball in her court. I told her, I’ve seen you rock a stage in Arrowhead and you might have to come see me rock the stage at Arrowhead,” he said. “We’ll see what happens in the near future.”

McAfee, correctly, took this to mean that Swift would appear at an upcoming game. However, some of the show’s crew were left confused about the status of the relationship.

“All right, so we got to the bottom of it,” McAfee said after the interview.

“Did we?” a co-host asked.

He said the experience marks “a game I’ll remember.”

“To see the slow-motion chest bumps, to see the high fives with mom, to see how Chiefs Kingdom was all excited that she was there, that s--- was absolutely hysterical,” Travis Kelce said. “It was definitely a game I’ll remember, that’s for damn sure.”

“And then we just slid off in the getaway car at the end,” he added, using a Swift song title to reference the viral photos of them leaving Arrowhead Stadium together in a convertible.

But he also said he plans to keep his personal life private.

“What’s real is that it’s my personal life and I want to respect both of our lives,” he said. “She’s not in the media as much as I am.

“Do it for yourself, do it for us and do it for the people, because there is no one that would give you a better time than this guy,” Thompson said.

Travis Kelce commented on the post on Oct. 2 with two laughing emoji.

“As all the attention comes, it feels like I was on top of the world after the Super Bowl and right now, even more on top of the world. So it’s fun,” he said.

Travis Kelce then said he's "rolling with" the constant attention from paparazzi and attempting to separate work and play.

“We’re learning with the paparazzi just taking photos from all over the place. But at the same time, it comes with it,” he continued. “You got a lot of people that care about Taylor for good reason. Travis Kelce shared on Oct. 20 that the first time he met Swift he was rocking a mustache, which is now “slowly starting to disappear.”

“I’ll tell you what, man, that ‘stache and the 87 jersey was pretty iconic there for a little bit, and I had it when I met Taylor for the first time,” he said at a press conference ahead of a Kansas City Chiefs game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Since the moment they first met is not publicly known, this comment, of course, led Swifties to track down when exactly this could have been.

While the tight end notably had a mustache during Swift’s first game at Arrowhead Stadium back on Sept. 24, the mustache made its debut at training camp on Aug. 2, according to the Kansas City Star.

Swift and Travis Kelce were also seen in a few snaps with Kelce’s teammate Mecole Hardman, Jr. and his girlfriend Chariah Gordon.

Two of the pics show Swift smiling, while another shows her giving Travis Kelce a sweet peck on the cheek while holding his shoulder.

Oct. 25, 2023: Travis Kelce comments on his stats while Taylor Swift attends his games

On the Oct. 25 episode of “New Heights,” Jason Kelce told his brother about his stats this season, which appear to improve when Swift is in attendance.

“When T-Swift is at the game, you are averaging 99 yards, and when you are left with only your friends and remaining family there, you are at 46.5 yards,” he told his brother.

Travis Kelce said he liked how the CBS graphic worded it : “As it says in the edit or whatever, ‘Left to his own devices.’”

“Well put,” he added. “It's kind of hard for me to wrap my head around that sentence, but yeah.”

Swifties looked beyond the stats though, and began to fixate on how Jason Kelce appeared to inadvertently refer to Swift as family.

“jason saying that when taylor isn’t at the game travis is only left with his 'remaining family' in attendance DID THEY JUST CALL TAYLOR FAMILY I AM NOT OKAY,” one user wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Nov. 10, 2023: Travis Kelce travels to Argentina for Taylor Swift's 'Eras Tour'

As Taylor Swift kicked off the South American leg of her "Eras Tour," Travis Kelce traveled to Argentina Nov. 10, a source close to the couple confirmed to NBC News.

Her three shows scheduled for Buenos Aires began Nov. 9, but the Nov. 10 performance was postponed Friday afternoon due to adverse weather.

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour - Buenos Aires, Argentina

The two were spotted at around 11:45 local time at Elena restaurant at the Four Seasons in Buenos Aires, Tory Barron, who captured the couple on video, told TODAY.com.

Barron said the video captured Swift and Travis Kelce leaving a private room where they had dinner and were exiting through the kitchen. She added that the whole restaurant was "incredibly respectful and excited to have them there."

Due to the Chiefs' bye week, Travis Kelce didn't have a game until Nov. 20, when the Kansas City team took on the Philadelphia Eagles , the team Swift has historically supported.

Prior to his Argentina appearance, Travis Kelce seemed to hint about the upcoming trip during an episode of his “New Heights” podcast .

“I might just say f--- it and just go somewhere nice,” the tight end said. “My skin’s getting really pale so I gotta go somewhere south, somewhere closer to the equator.”

Nov. 11, 2023: 'Karma is the guy on the Chiefs'

While performing in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with Travis Kelce in the audience, Swift changed the lyrics to one of her songs in honor of the football player.

"Karma is the guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me," she sang, swapping in "Chiefs" for "screen," a lyric believed to be in reference to her ex, actor Joe Alwyn .

After the show ended, multiple fans captured videos of Swift running into Travis Kelce's arms backstage and sharing a kiss.

Many fans interpreted the kiss as the couple's public confirmation of their romantic relationship, or their "hard launch."

Nov. 20, 2023: Travis Kelce opens up about how he's 'never dated' anyone like Taylor Swift

In an interview with WSJ. Magazine published Nov. 20, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end reminisced that he'd tried to meet Swift at her Arrowhead concert in July, alluding to people “playing Cupid” for the two of them, although he didn’t specify who.

“There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner (who said):  Yo! Did you know he was coming?  I had somebody playing Cupid,” Travis Kelce said to WSJ. Magazine.

He also recalled his and Swift’s first date, which he says took place in New York (but keeps mum about when that actually happened).

“When I met her in New York, we had already kind of been talking, so I knew we could have a nice dinner and, like, a conversation, and what goes from there will go from there,” Travis Kelce told WSJ. Magazine.

He said he managed to keep his nerves at bay, but his friends and family — not so much.

“Everybody around me telling me:  Don’t f--- this up!  And me sitting here saying:  Yeah—got it .”

He also revealed that he’s never "dated anyone " with the “kind of aura” that Swift has, and reflected on how she manages to enjoy her life despite the “scrutiny” she regularly faces.

“Obviously I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them…. I’ve never dealt with it,” he shared during the interview. “But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it…. The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange.”

Dec. 6, 2023: Taylor Swift speaks publicly about their relationship for the first time

Swift hadn’t really spoken about her relationship with Travis Kelce until she was named Time’s 2023 Person of the Year in December 2023.

In a story published on Dec. 6, Swift explained that they'd started dating after Travis Kelce "adorably put me on blast" on his podcast.

“We started hanging out right after that,” she said. “So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple.”

Taylor Swift TIME person of the year

They didn’t go public until her first appearance at a Kansas City Chiefs game on Sept. 24, which she emphasized was not their first date.

“We would never be psychotic enough to hard-launch a first date,” she said.

She said they've been happy to be out in the public, supporting each other, seemingly in contrast to when Swift dated Joe Alwyn . With Alwyn, Swift kept her relationship under wraps and the two were rarely seen together.

“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” she said. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”

Dec. 3-31, 2023: Taylor Swift attends five consecutive Chiefs games

After Swift wrapped her "Eras Tour" for 2023, she became an expected guest at Kelce's games each week.

Starting on Dec. 3 with the Chiefs-Packers matchup in Wisconsin, Swift became a fixture. She went on to attend both home and away games against the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots.

On Christmas Day, she brought her whole family, including her brother Austin dressed as Santa Claus, to the Chiefs-Raiders game.

After the game, Austin Swift gave Travis Kelce a thoughtful Christmas gift — a VHS tape of his "favorite" football-centric movie, "Little Giants."

Then on New Year's Eve, Swift cheered the Chiefs to victory against the Cincinnati Bengals.

But after the game, it was Travis Kelce who was doing the praising. In a video showcasing Swift’s outfit, Travis Kelce couldn’t help but add to the comment section.

Swift wore a white Jeff Hamilton Chiefs jacket, almost identical to  one Travis Kelce wore before the Christmas Day  game against the Las Vegas Raiders.  In Hamilton’s post about the jacket , Travis Kelce commented fire and raised hands emoji.

Ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs’ postseason, the owner and CEO of the team Clark Hunt reflected on the landmark season — driven by the new relationship between tight end Travis Kelce and Swift.

Hunt said in an interview on CNBC’s “Mad Money “ that female viewership has increased “leaps and bounds” since they began dating.

He added that the team is “so happy” for Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship.

“You know, when they were just starting off dating, there were a lot of people saying, ‘Oh, it’s a marketing stunt,’ but no, it’s very real … and the most important thing is we’re happy for the two of them," he said.

"I’ve had a chance to meet her at one of the many games that she’s attended this year,” he added. “She’s just as sweet as she can be. I also got to see her play here (at Arrowhead Stadium) twice this past summer and what an incredible performer. I mean, just one of the most incredible artists of our time.”

Chiefs owner Clark Hunter talks about the Taylor Swift effect.

It wasn't the first time the Hunt family commented on their relationship with Swift.

Ava Hunt, daughter of the Chiefs owner, posted a picture of her giving the pop superstar a birthday present on  Instagram  Dec. 10.

“Enchanted to meet you @taylorswift,” Ava Hunt captioned the pic.

The Kansas City Star later reported that Tavia Hunt, Clark Hunt's wife, said the gift was a “Judith Leiber minaudière Swarovski microphone purse," which retails for about $5,000.

Jan. 13-Jan. 28, 2024: Taylor Swift cheers on the Chiefs during the postseason

For the Chiefs’ first postseason game of the year on Jan. 13,  Swift was once again seen cheering from the players box  beside Donna Kelce, this time repping a custom red puffer jacket featuring her boyfriend's number, 87.

The jacket was designed by Kristin Juszczyk, the wife of 49ers player Kyle Juszczyk, and Brittany Mahomes wore a matching one.

Throughout the victorious night for Kansas City, Swift was seen singing along to stadium songs, celebrating with fans and swag surfing — all of which caused the internet to erupt.

Swift was also tuned into her beau's teammate Rashee Rice's stellar game Sunday night, turning to fans for high "4's" in honor of his jersey number.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end cutely pivoted after a reporter tried to goad him into singing a lyric from Swift’s song “Karma” during a pre-Super Bowl press conference on Feb. 8.

When the reporter at the press conference asked Travis Kelce to finish the lyric “Karma is the guy on the ______,” the athlete gamely obliged by responding, “‘Chiefs,’ of course,” a reference to Swift's famous lyric swap from November.

But when the reporter pushed Kelce to continue the song, the football star simply smiled and asked for the reporter’s next question, as others in the room burst into laughter.

During the same press conference, another reporter asked Travis Kelce why he believed the public was so “fascinated” with his and Swift’s powerhouse romance.

“I think the values that we stand for and just who we are as people,” responded Travis Kelce. “We love to shine light on others, shine light around the people that help and support us, and on top of that, I feel like we both have just a love for life.”

Travis Kelce and the Chiefs had a sluggish start to the game, with the tight end even getting in the face of his head coach Reid. He eventually warmed up to catch a team-leading nine passes for 93 yards, spurring his team to the come-from-behind victory.

Following the Chiefs’ win against the San Francisco 49ers in overtime, a huge celebration filled the field. After Swift and Travis Kelce’s mom, Donna Kelce, held onto each other as they listened to Travis Kelce and others make speeches after the win, Swift reunited with her boyfriend and they embraced one another .

Based on videos shared by concertgoers, the Super Bowl champ clapped for his girlfriend and high-fived fans during the show. The tight end wore matching blue T-shirt and shorts and, of course, a stack of friendship bracelets.

Swift, meanwhile, gave her boyfriend a few shoutouts during the show. She made her signature lyric swap about Travis Kelce by singing "Karma is the guy on the Chiefs" during her finale song. She also seemingly referenced his  Super Bowl win  by pointing into the crowd while singing, "When they gave us our trophies..."

During his visit, t he couple also went to the Sydney Zoo together.

A few weeks later, the football star took things a step further. While interviewing Arnold Schwarzenegger on the April 3 edition of the podcast , Travis Kelce joked that he wants to name a son after Schwarzenegger’s character in the ‘80s adventure film “Conan the Barbarian.”

“I might name my first kid Conan. I might,” he said during the episode.

While most of "The Tortured Poets Department" chronicles Swift's "saddest story" and a "period of the author’s life now over," some fans suspect Travis Kelce received a few mentions.

In "The Alchemy," Swift sings about giving in to an almost-magical relationship through a chorus overflowing with football metaphor.

Then in "So High School," she sings about a pure, youthful love and makes a reference to a game of "marry, kiss, kill," seemingly referencing a 2016 interview with the tight end tied to his short-lived dating show "Catching Kelce."

In a video shared by an attendee to Instagram, he took the stage next to auctioneer Harry Santa-Olalla to share a surprise of his own for the evening.

“I was just talking to my significant other and we might have one other auction item that wasn’t on the docket. Has anybody heard of the ‘Eras Tour?’” Travis Kelce said to the crowd. “There might be a fun gig where there are four tickets to the New Orleans, Miami or Indianapolis dates when the ‘Eras Tour’ comes back to the United States. Does that fire anybody up right now?”

May 18, 2024: Travis Kelce features Taylor Swift in video montage

Less than a month after Swift featured a sweet clip of Travis Kelce in a video montage she shared on social media, the NFL star repaid the favor.

Swift was featured in a welcome video for Travis Kelce Jam on May 18. The montage included a clip of the singer clapping on the field after the Chiefs defeated the 49ers in the 2024 Super Bowl.

At the event, " Access Hollywood " got a chance to speak to Kelce about Swift, including his favorite era of the singer's.

“I’m a big ‘1989’ era, but I’m not going to lie, I might be a little biased toward ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’” Travis Kelce said, a subtle nod to some of the tracks fans on social media have assumed were about the singer. “Just a little biased.”

He also shared which songs from Swift's discography he'd want to include as part of Kelce Jam, including one specific track from her newest album.

“‘So High School’ might be the only one jumping into my mind right now. I think everybody will get fired up for that one,” he said. “‘The Man’ is my niece's favorite, so we can always go with ‘The Man.’”

Travis Kelce's teammate said that he takes “some of the credit” for getting the couple together. In a May 23 appearance on “The Pat McAfee” show , the Kansas City QB said he was the one who invited Kelce to the concert where Travis Kelce intended to give a bracelet to Swift.

“He was sitting in my suite, so I feel like I was the matchmaker,” Mahomes said. “I had some input there as well. (I) was like, ‘Just go for it.’ You know Travis, man. He does it and he’s great dude, and I’m glad it all worked out for the best.”

“We enjoy it, it’s been a fun run,” Mahomes said. “I like to take some of the credit — I was the one who invited Travis to the first Taylor concert (with) the friendship bracelet. He was sitting in my suite, so I feel like I was the matchmaker. I had some input there as well. (I) was like, ‘Just go for it.’ You know Travis, man. He does it and he’s great dude, and I’m glad it all worked out for the best.”

May 24, 2024: Taylor Swift adds ‘The Alchemy’ to post ‘Eras Tour’ playlist days after Travis Kelce says it’s his second favorite song

In an interview at Kelce Jam on May 19, Travis Kelce ranked his top three favorite songs by Swift for The Schmo .

His ranking included “Blank Space” from “1989” as well as two tracks from “The Tortured Poets Department” that are rumored to be written about him — “The Alchemy” and “So High School.”

Less than a week after the interview, fans on social media noticed that Swift swapped out the song “You’re On Your Own, Kid” for “The Alchemy” as the track that played after the conclusion of the show while fans left the stadium.

Fans shared their reactions to the change on social media, with one fan sharing on X that the change was “such a big statement” from Swift.

“taylor replacing yoyok, the song that brought friendship bracelets, with the alchemy, the song that was brought by friendship bracelets oh the cinema,” another fan tweeted .

One fan also wrote , “the alchemy would never be written without yoyok existence.”

June 1, 2024: Jason Sudeikis asks Travis Kelce when he was 'going to make an honest woman' out of Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce joined Jason Sudeikis onstage at the Big Slick Celebrity Weekend in Kansas City for a comedy sketch that turned slightly personal.

During the sketch, the new stadium for the Chiefs came up in conversation, with actor Robert Smigel suggesting that Travis Kelce ask Swift to “foot the bill,” but the NFL star shut it down and added, “That ain’t happening.”

After Sudeikis inquired when Travis Kelce was “going to make an honest woman out of” Swift, Travis Kelce reacted to the question by laughing and smiling, but didn’t give the actor an answer.

“Taylor doesn’t need to be working anymore,” Sudeikis added.

Sudeikis previously talked to The Hollywood Reporter about Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship in November 2023.

Months after Swift brought her “Eras Tour” to Kansas City, the “Saturday Night Live” alum jokingly referred to the singer as the city’s “adopted daughter” amid her romance with Travis Kelce.

“I don’t blame her for wanting to hang out here more,” Sudeikis said. “I don’t blame her for wanting to hang out with Travis. He’s a good egg.”

Months prior in August 2023, Sudeikis and Swift also both attended Questlove’s epic game night.

June 2, 2024: Taylor Swift laughs as she sings an old lyric about 'dating the boy on the football team'

During her surprise-song set on her "Eras Tour" on June 2, Swift laughed along with the crowd in Lyon, France, as she played "Fifteen," a song off her 2008 album, "Fearless."

One specific line — "In your life you'll do things greater than dating the boy on the football team" — had Swift smiling big as the crowd caught on to Swift's lyrics coming full circle more than a decade later.

June 11, 2024: Kelce answers questions from reporters about cooking with Swift

During a Chiefs minicamp on June 11, a reporter asked Kelce what he enjoyed cooking with his significant other.

While the athlete said it was “a good question,” he decided to not share his answer.

“I respect that question, but I’m going to keep that one to myself,” he said. “Because I thoroughly enjoy cooking with her. So, it’s something I’d rather just keep personal.”

Before leaving, however, Kelce did divulge some relationship insight.

“Taylor makes a great Pop-Tart and cinnamon roll,” he said, smiling and walking out.

Fans of the couple know that Swift did make homemade Pop-Tarts for the team after Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told “PFT Live” co-hosts Chris Simms and Mike Florio  in a Feb. 27 interview.

“She likes to cook, so she made the offensive linemen these homemade Pop-Tarts,” Reid said.

Back in December 2023, Kelce’s friend and former NFL star Bernie Kosar also shared in an interview that the pop star made “homemade cinnamon rolls for Travis for pregame meal.”

Swift has even shown off her tasty treats on her social media before, writing in a May 2020 Instagram post , “When you’re proud of your buns so you post them on the internet.”

Meet Taylor Swift’s Famous Feline Trio: The Cats That Rule Her Heart

By: Author Amanda OBrien

Taylor Swift may be one of the world’s biggest artists of all time, but she’s also a loving mother to three fluffy felines. Not your average pets, the Taylor Swift cats, Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson — the Scottish Folds, and Benjamin Button — the Ragdoll Cat , are also wealthy superstars of their own.

While Taylor tours the globe on her Eras Tour, her kitties often wait patiently in her dressing rooms. If you’re wondering how many cats does Taylor Swift have, how much they’re worth, and what breeds they are, keep reading.

Here is everything you need to know about Taylor Swift’s cats and a few extra fun facts.

Taylor Swift’s Cats’ Names

What are Taylor Swift’s cats’ names? The pop star’s cats are named Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button. If you’re into pop culture, you might recognize those names.

Her first two cats, Meredith and Olivia, were named after powerful female characters from two of Taylor’s favorite TV shows. Yup, Taylor Swift is just like us; she binge-watches series too. And then there’s the lovely Benji, the latest edition of her litter.

Meredith, Taylor Swift’s Cat

Meredith Grey is the lead character in the medical romantic drama “ Grey’s Anatomy .” Named after the iconic medical textbook, the show follows Meredith Grey through her journey as a surgeon and her many trials and tribulations along the way.

Besides the fact that Grey’s Anatomy is one of Taylor’s favorite shows, Meredith Grey is a very appropriate name for a grey cat . That’s possibly the biggest inspiration behind her name.

Meredith was adopted on Halloween in 2011, so it’s expected that she has her quirks. Meredith is a loveable Scottish Fold but’s not particularly fond of snuggles. You know how cats can be.

This pretty kitty is the first of Taylor’s feline children. She’s around 11 years old and has a pretty large fanbase of her own. Meredith was adopted just before Taylor Swift released her fourth album, Red, which she re-released in November 2021 as “Red (Taylor’s Version).”

Olivia Benson The Cat

Taylor-Swift-Cats-Olivia-Benson

And then came Olivia Benson. This spunky Scottish Fold packs a lot of charm into her little body, and it’s no surprise that she was named after one of TV’s most powerful female characters. Olivia, the cat, was named after Law and Order : Special Victims Unit’s Captain Olivia Benson, who at the time was a Sergeant.

While Taylor fondly calls her Sergeant Olivia, she’s also known as Dibbles around the house. According to Taylor, Olivia is sometimes too stately of a name for this little feline.

Most of the time, Olivia (Dibbles) is rather rambunctious and quite the goofball. She boasts a personality that better suits her nickname.

Olivia Benson was adopted in June 2014, just before the release of Taylor Swift’s 1989. This was the first of the singer’s albums to definitively switch her from a country singer to a pop artist.

Taylor Swift’s Cat Benjamin Button

Benjamin Button, also known as Benji, is the youngest of the cats Taylor Swift owns. Benji famously debuted in the music video for ME!, the lead single of Taylor’s seventh album, Lover. In fact, the set of that music video is where the Anti-Hero singer first fell in love with Benjamin Button as a kitten.

A behind-the-scenes clip reveals that Taylor jokingly asked if she could take Benji (then just a set prop) home with her, and the answer was yes. Now Benji is a frequent feature on Taylor Swift’s Instagram and is most revered for his stunning blue eyes .

From Taylor Swift on Facebook

Benji is a Ragdoll cat, which means although he’s the younger brother of Olivia and Meredith, he’s much larger, which could be why he’s named Benjamin Button. This gorgeous kitten is named after the lead character in the 2008 film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. In the film, Benjamin (Brad Pitt) has a rare aging ailment that makes him age backward.

Net Worth of Taylor Swift’s Cats

Meredith-and-Olivia-Taylor-Swifts-Cats

You read that correctly. Taylor’s cats have a net worth that most of us foolish humans could only dream of. Oh, to be born as a superstar’s cat.

While the net worth of Meredith and Benji are unclear, Olivia Benson’s net worth comes in at a whopping $97 million, according to 2023’s Rich Pet List . It’s estimated that her other kitties also cross the multi-million dollar line, which means that they’re worth over $100 million collectively.

In fact, Olivia Benson the cat is the world’s third-richest pet. She is on the list with Choupette – the famous feline companion of Karl Lagerfeld, Pontiac – Betty White’s Golden Retriever, Oprah Winfrey’s pups, and more.

What Are Taylor Swift’s Cats Breeds

Taylor-Swift-and-Meredith-Grey-Cat

Taylor Swift is the proud owner of two Scottish Fold cats and one Ragdoll cat. Both breeds are perfect for owners who want all the cuddles and plenty of personality. Although Meredith isn’t too fond of cuddles, she makes up for it with her oodles of personality.

About the Scottish Fold Breed

Scottish Folds are known for their intelligent and talkative natures but are most recognizable by their small folded ears and flat faces. This breed is found in an assortment of coat colors and patterns and is a great indoor cat .

Unfortunately, because of their small folded ears, owners need to regularly ear the wax from the outer ears of their Scottish Folds to avoid ear infections. Although they are irresistibly adorable, Scottish Folds are prone to bone and joint diseases, kidney disease, and heart disease, so caring for them can be tasking.

A Little Bit About Ragdoll Cats

Benjamin-Button-Kitten-Taylor-Swift

On the other hand, Ragdoll cats are pretty easy to care for if you don’t mind their size. Ragdolls are one of the best breeds of cats for families. They are loving, friendly, intelligent, and inquisitive by nature.

They also quite enjoy being lap cats, so you don’t usually have to worry about them wandering off. Ragdoll cats are most loved for their sparkling blue eyes and chirpiness. They also come in a few different coat colors and patterns.

Benjamin Button is a Bicolor Seal Point Ragdoll or a Seal Bicolor Ragdoll. This is identifiable by his panda-like bicolor face, dark ears, and tail, and of course, his dazzling blue eyes.

How Does Taylor Swift Travel With Her Cats?

Taylor-Swift-Cat-T-Shirt

You’re probably wondering how Taylor Swift can be a devoted cat mom when she spends her time jet-setting and performing to millions of fans around the world. The short answer is that she takes her cats everywhere. And I mean everywhere.

Meredith, Olivia, and Benji are often seen lounging around in Taylor’s cars, dressing rooms, and even her private jet. These kitties have racked up enough frequent flyer miles for everyone.

Taylor also sports a futuristic-looking cat carrier every now and then. It has a porthole-like window for kitties to gaze out of and plenty of breathing holes. Plus, you can wear it on your back like a backpack. Pretty neat, isn’t it?

Does Taylor Swift Have Other Pets?

No, Taylor Swift’s cats get all of her love, affection, and fame. However, Taylor has also been spotted hanging out with her mother’s Great Dane, Kitty. Appropriate name, isn’t it?

While Taylor is a self-proclaimed cat person, she grew up with a couple of dogs. Taylor’s mother, Andrea Swift, had always wanted a “giant dog,” so Kitty was introduced to the Swift family a couple of years ago. Kitty can be seen trying to take a seat on Taylor Swift, outrunning her, and even flying on her private jet, as seen in her Netflix documentary “Miss Americana.”

Final Thoughts on Taylor Swift Cats

So, there you have it, everything you need to know about Taylor Swift’s cat names and more. We now know all too well that Taylor is the world’s favorite cat lady, and her lovable furballs would happily defend her title.

From Olivia’s striking poses, Meredith’s feisty personality, and little Benji’s gorgeous blue eyes, you now have enough knowledge to impress the next Swiftie you come across.

Taylor Swift reveals the real meaning behind ‘The Tortured Poets Department' songs

Taylor swift explained the meaning of "the tortured poets department" and provided succinct commentary on five of its tracks., by olivia evans | e • published april 22, 2024.

Days after releasing her 11th studio album, the "Fortnight" singer gave some insight into some of her record's more convoluted tracks—including the aforementioned single, " Clara Bow " and "Florida!!!"—in Amazon Music exclusive commentary.

Users of the streaming platform can declare, "I'm a member of ' The Tortured Poets Department ,'" on their Amazon device and switch on the special feature, during which Swift provides her insight on five songs, including the album opener featuring Post Malone .

"‘Fortnight' is a song that exhibits a lot of the common themes that run throughout this album," she explains. "One of which being fatalism—longing, pining away, lost dreams. It's a very fatalistic album in that there are lots of very dramatic lines about life or death. ‘I love you, it's ruining my life.' These are very hyperbolic, dramatic things to say. It's that kind of album."

Later, Swift breaks down "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys," a song she produced with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff . Swift explains, as the title suggests, the song is about "being somebody's favorite toy until they break you and then don't want to play with you anymore."

"Which is how a lot of us are in relationships where we are so valued by a person in the beginning, and then all of the sudden, they break us or they devalue us in their mind," she adds. "We're still clinging on to ‘No no, no. You should've seen them the first time they saw me. They'll come back to that.'"

And the "Florida!!!" singer even delved into her duet with Florence Welch , a song that was actually inspired by her love of " Dateline ."

"People have these crimes that they commit; where do they immediately skip town and go to? They go to Florida," Swift posits. "They try to reinvent themselves, have a new identity, blend in. When you go through a heartbreak, there's a part of you that thinks, ‘I want a new name. I want a new life. I don't want anyone to know where I've been or know me at all.' And so that was the jumping off point."

Other songs like " Clara Bow " and "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me" explore the difficulties that come from life in the public eye.

As she says, Swift wrote the latter song "alone, sitting at the piano in one of those moments when I felt bitter about just all the things we do to our artists as a society and as a culture."

"There's a lot about this particular concept on ' The Tortured Poets Department ,'" the 34-year-old continued. "What do we do to our writers, and our artists, and our creatives? We put them through hell. We watch what they create, then we judge it. We love to watch artists in pain, often to the point where I think sometimes as a society we provoke that pain and we just watch what happens."

And as for why she dedicated an entire track to a 1920s film star? Reflecting on her almost two decades of stardom, Swift calls the song a commentary on "what I've seen in the industry that I've been in over time."

Ultimately, the track is a message to the women in the industry who forged a path for younger artists.

"That's how we teach women to see themselves, as like, you could be the new replacement for this woman who's done something great before you," she added. "I picked women who have done great things in the past and have been these archetypes of greatness in the entertainment industry. Clara Bow was the first ‘it girl.' Stevie Nicks is an icon and an incredible example for anyone who wants to write songs and make music."

Taylor Swift and Kamala Harris endorse endorses endorsement presidential debate cat lady

The Kamala Harris /Tim Walz campaign took advantage of Donald Trump ‘s blunt “I hate Taylor Swift!” social media statement by releasing a rather longer Swift-related statement of its own — one in which they name-check 28 Swift titles or lyrics.

Popular on variety.

The songs or albums referenced in the Harris-Walz campaign statement are: “Safe & Sound,” “Down Bad,” “Mr. Perfectly Fine” (changed to “Mr. Not-at-All Fine),” “Champagne Problems,” “The Man,” “Call It What You Want,” “Nothing New,” “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” “Shake It Off,” “Bad Blood,” “Better Than Revenge,” “Sad, Beautiful, Tragic,” “But Daddy, I Love Him” (via the “Oh my God, you should have seen the American people’s faces” line), “I Forgot That You Existed,” “Out of the Woods,” “Blank Space,” “Begin Again,” “Long Live,” “All Too Well,” “The Last Time,” “End Game,” “Breathe,” “The Story of Us,” “Back to December,” “Enchanted,” “Fearless,” “1989” and “We Are Never Getting Back Together” (invoked via the statement’s “like ever” capper).

That latter song title was becoming widely referenced Sunday morning, as Liz Cheney quote-tweeted Trump’s “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” statement and simply added, “Says the smallest man who ever lived.”

The statement from the Harris campaign included headers like “Trump’s Sad, Beautiful, Tragic Week” — but with the “beautiful crossed out” — plus “And Oh My God You Should Have Seen the American People’s Faces.” Other passages in the statement included: “Trump and his inner circle of extremists can’t seem to Shake It Off as the Bad Blood between Trump, his running mate and his own party boils… Donald Trump’s week of whining and spouting conspiracy theories has voters on both sides of the aisle ready to Forget That He Existed. The American people want to be Out of the Woods of the chaos and division of the Trump era, leave behind the Blank Space of Trump’s broken promises, and Begin Again by electing Vice President Harris to ensure America’s future of opportunity is Long Lived… We can make sure The Story of Us is one of progress — and show Donald Trump we are not going Back to December of 2020. Like ever.”

Vice presidential candidate Walz had also referenced “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” in a rally on Saturday night, although his verbiage in making the allusion was just slightly off.

“Here’s my life hack for all the guys out there,” Walz said at the event in Superior, Wisconsin. “Surround yourself with smart women and listen to them, and you’ll do just fine. That includes my fellow cat owner Taylor Swift, too, by the way. … It’s really great to have all of these women help us beat the smallest man in the world: Donald Trump.”

Trump’s “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” declaration on Sunday morning — issued in his characteristic all-caps, with no other context — was puzzling to some political observers, since however upset he is with the superstar for endorsing Harris, there may be little upside in further antagonizing her hundreds of millions of fans, unless he sees a benefit in directly courting the Swift-hating incel crowd.

Earlier, Trump had been more measured in his response to Swift endorsing his opponents. “I was not a Taylor Swift fan,” he said in an interview on Fox & Friends Wednesday, the day after the presidential debate and Swift’s endorsement. “It was just a question of time. She couldn’t possibly endorse Biden… But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Swift, of course, endorsed Joe Biden over Trump in the 2020 election cycle, with little effect on her in the marketplace, as her Eras Tour receipts are expected to more than double the all-time box-office record for a tour.

Swift’s endorsement of Harris Tuesday night included a link to the U.S. government’s Vote.gov site for nonpartisan voter information. In the 24 hours after Swift’s post Tuesday evening, Vote.gov saw 405,999 visitors referred directly from the singer’s Instagram account, a spokesperson for the General Services Administration, which runs the site, told  Variety . (The GSA was able to tally the visitors using a custom URL created and shared by Swift.) That’s more than 10 times the traffic generated in a comparable recent one-week period. It’s unknown how many of the visitors driven by Swift’s post subsequently registered to vote, since the site directs visitors to their state sites if they want to sign up to be added to voter rolls.

In the Tuesday night Instagram post that included the voter info link, Swift wrote, “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate  @timwalz , who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades. … I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make.

In a March 2023 poll conducted by Morning Consult, 53% of U.S. adults said they were Swift fans. Morning Consult’s poll found that among the 16% of American adults who considered themselves “avid” fans at the time, a slight majority were Democrats — 55% — with Republicans and independents accounting for 23% each. The poll was conducted just prior to the start of her blockbuster Eras Tour.
