We took this tour a few years back; Our C.O was fantastic, very knowledgeable. Food was great, and we had the opportunity to go off the beaten track a bit on a land excursion (considering the tour is only 4 days, it was great.) For being on a boat and in a smaller place, which is not my thing, I could have easily done 1-2 weeks. This tour was much more relaxing then the rest of our Thailand tour, and it was much needed. Lots of sun, good food, beautiful landscapes/beaches, great company. G-adventures is still our #1 for tours.

Wow, this was such a fun tour! Our tour guide Bessica is freaking awesome! He’s so funny and fun to be around. I love his enthusiasm with everything and he’s all round great. He takes great photos and makes sure he gets the perfect angles too. The sunset was beautiful and we had so much fun at the market and see Bangla road is a must do! So much fun and love the vibe. The snorkeling was amazing and the ocean was crystal clear. We had a delicious local Thai cuisine for dinner and got to try street food at the market. So cool!!! I recommend this tour a million times over. Definitely go do it.Have fun with Bessica and have a great night and some delicious food!

Khao Sok National Park Adventure 3D/2N

The nature and the scenery was very beautiful and a really nice way to get out of the tourist trap this is Phuket. The tour was broken into two parts both times I was the only solo traveller which was a bit lonely at some points. The first part in the Jungle was amazing, incredible guide Yaya and the jungle trekking was awesome. The elephant ride was not so good as the elephants did not seem very well treated and were constantly poked with metal prods to keep them in line seemed quite cruel. The second part of the tour was terrible and this was all due to the guide. The nature is self was very beautiful and again an amazing place to visit however a tour guide can really make or break and experience. The group I had was made up of myself, two Austrians and four Russians (Who could all speak good English) and the guide Sasha who hardly ever spoke English and only spoke Russian. As a tour guide myself in my home country I can confidentially say he was the worst tour guide I have ever come across. I won't go into too much detail but I when you are paying for an English Speaking tour guide and receive one who can hardly string together a few sentences in English and does the minimal commentary in Russian even after you ask him to speak English does not make for a good experience. Having said that the first half of the tour was amazing, the Thai guide Yaya was very knowledgable, fun and interactive with the group. I don't regret going but would probably not recommend going alone and hopefully you get a better guide than Sasha because it is a fantastic place to visit when in Thailand.

We had a very enjoyable 9 days on our trip to Thailand. Thank you very much Mr. Long. We really appreciate you taking the time to answer all of our questions even outside of business hours. Overall, our accommodations during the trip were very good, especially the Avista Grande hotel with its very friendly staff and excellent service. Our family will definitely come back in the near future.

Phuket Sailing Adventure

I really enjoyed the trip as a new mode of transport and accommodation, offering the freedom of sailing, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and sail-boarding in a beautiful environment. The meals and all staff were excellent, and the group was lively and good fun.

Thai Intro 18 Day

This trip was honestly incredible - we covered absolutely everything in 18 days from island paradises and sandy beaches to trekking in the jungle, cuddling elephants and staying deep in the cities. It’s the perfect itinerary. Our tour leader Matt was AMAZING - I really could not have asked for anyone better. He went above and beyond in all aspects of the trip; making us feel safe, supported, happy, and like a family. His knowledge of Thailand is incredible as well as his love for the ocean and eco-friendly travel. On our free morning off in Phi Phi he took us Scuba diving which I will never forget! His fun and adventurous personality meant we were constantly laughing and learning all day! and he never failed to share with us any items we’d forgotten during activities - suncream, bug spray, water, towels etc. I couldn’t recommend Matt more as a tour guide and Intro are defo the best in the game. Thank you so much.

Thai Experience

Just finished the 13 day Thai experience tour and would 100% recommended to anyone. On day one we were greeted by our tour leader Dan and made to feel welcome by him from minute 1. Dan went above and beyond to make sure that we all had settled in well and made it a trip of a lifetime. He was very knowledgable about Thailand and knew his way around with ease. A special mention to him for going out his way and adding an extra activity by taking us all to Songkran festival which was genuinely one of the best days of the tour!

I had memorable and incredible stay at Thailand. Panorama Destination (Thailand) Co., Ltd. arraigned everything more than perfect - transfers, transport, hotel accommodation, entire trips. I received a very quickly from Mr. Bow full information of my trip and all my enquiries. Excellent hotel services, very good location- close to Bangla walking street and Phuket beach, big sunny and clean room, very tasty breakfast, very clean and good car. The local sightseeings and vehicle service were arranged exceptionally correct and accurate. Great and very professional local Guide Mr. Yuth. I received on time full and very interesting information of visited places and my trip without any misleading or untrue details. My inners tours were more than fantastic. In additional to the above I visited a very exited Tiger Park. I truly recommend Panorama Destination. I trusted them and they fully deserved it.

Sail Phuket to Ko Phi Phi

The crew were amazingly warm and friendly plus very knowledgeable and really strived to deliver a memorable experience. They hit the ground running and make sure everyone's having fun from the first minute that you jump on board. The cook (Doe) was also highly skilled and rustled up some of the best dishes that I've tasted whilst in Thailand...plus he uses fresh ingredients with not a hint of MSG! Available equipment such as Kayak's and snorkels are also really good with the only cost being for drinks (other than water) plus national park fees which are minimal. The group size is also quite small which made it much easier to settle in and we all got along amazingly. I'm already looking into my next Intrepid trip! :)

Fantastic trip. Don’t hesitate to book. We did the 4 days one because I was nervous about being stuck on a boat for four days but they planned great stops and activities and I never once felt bored or like I want to get off the boat. Patong Beach Phuket

One of the most visited beaches in Phuket is Patong, a 3-kilometer stretch of golden sand. Tourists lounging on the sand are constantly harassed by parasailers, jet skiers, boat drivers, beach sellers, and masseuses.

To divide Patong Beach’s sand from the busy road, a line of palm, coconut, and tropical almond trees has been planted. • Dress modestly when visiting sacred sites – no shorts or tank tops. Legs & shoulders must be covered. Long, loose pants and long-sleeved cotton shirts are best.  
• Comfortable walking shoes.  
• Sunscreen, lip balm, hat and sunglasses for summer holidays.  
• Mini first aid kit and regular prescription medication.  
• Hand sanitiser and insect repellent.  
• Camera.  
• Travel adaptor.  Power  outlets in Thailand generally feature flat, two-pronged plugs, though some feature holes for round plug ends. Few outlets feature three holes (grounded outlets) so it is often necessary to have a three-to-two-prong  adapter. Thailand operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.

The attraction of Patong Beach is its vibrant social scene, so you can expect to find lots of hotel options. The price points can vary, so it's worth shopping around. More opulent hotels can be found along Beach Road; otherwise, many accommodation options have positioned themselves closer to all the action near Bangla Road.

Soak up the Phuket nightlife without having to stay up until the sun rises by booking your time at Kata Beach. The long stretch of sand is separated by a headland into Kata Yai and Kata Noi, so people are more spread out for a less-crowded feel. Many hotels and nearby businesses also offer different activities like surfing and paddle boarding.

Karon Beach

If you love the beach but want a bit of distance from the high tide, try Karon Beach. This place strikes a good balance between lively and tranquil, as Patong and its nightlife are close by. There's a good snorkelling spot towards the southern end of the beach, too. Be sure to visit Wat Karon where a market is held twice a week.

Kamala Beach

Thai high: the rise of a newfound cannabis culture – a photo essay

Photographer Dougie Wallace has been looking at the impact of the decriminalisation of cannabis in Thailand, from Khaosan Road to the beach resorts, such as Krabi and Phuket, that attract tourists

T he decriminalisation of cannabis in Thailand in June 2022 has led to an explosion in marijuana shops across the country – especially in its tourist areas. It is sold at trendy dispensaries in Bangkok, at beachside bars across resort islands and even on river cruises. On bustling streets, green leaf logos glow in neon above shop fronts, and small stalls, set up with rows of glass jars, dot the pavement.

More than 7,000 cannabis shops are estimated to have opened across the country which, until recent years, was known for having some of the world’s toughest drugs laws.

There is, however, uncertainty about the future of the industry. Elections last year brought a change in government, and the Pheu Thai party, which had campaigned on a pledge to ban recreational use of the drug, now leads the ruling coalition. The prime minister, Srettha Thavisin, has said he wants cannabis to be relisted as a narcotic by the end of the year.

Tourists in Bangkok’s Khaosan Road, a loud party street that has attracted backpackers for decades, are not impressed by the possibility of a U-turn on the law. “No, no, no, please, no change,” remarks Nazif Turkan, 32, as he relaxes in an indoor smoking area. Cannabis makes the country even more attractive as a tourist destination, he says, on top of its rich culture, excellent food and wealth of natural sites. “This is a bonus [for tourists], it’s a good thing to have.”

Critics say decriminalisation was rushed and there are loopholes and inconsistencies in the rules and their enforcement. There have been particular concerns about teenagers accessing the drug, even though it is illegal to sell it to under-20s.

Others say reversing the law and ridding the streets of cannabis would be virtually impossible. Cannabis has become a part of the nightlife in tourist hotspots, such as Krabi and Phuket, where weed shops and stalls have opened up alongside bars, and Thailand’s famous street food vendors. Decriminalisation has boosted the economy in since the Covid pandemic, and created new opportunities for entrepreneurs, they say.

The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce estimated in 2022 that the sector could be worth $1.2bn (£950m) by next year.

A few years ago, Malee, who asked not to give her real name, worked with her partner bulk-buying vegetables in their home province of Chachoengsao and selling it on to local markets. They would buy greens, such as spring onions, coriander and morning glory, from farmers and package the goods ready to be sold. But when cannabis was legalised in 2022, they set up a business growing it at home. “He saw the opportunity and thought he would earn a lot more money than just selling vegetables,” Malee says of her partner.

At first, they made a good profit, she says, but then there was an influx of illegal foreign cannabis imports and go-betweens, which she blames for driving down prices. The couple decided to sell directly to tourists, and they now commute at least an hour to Bangkok to sell their produce on Khaosan Road, mostly to Europeans. “It’s quite hard [to make profit] because this weed is grown indoors and it takes four to five months – and you have to put in money for the electricity, the water, the seed. It’s a lot of money.” Malee will invest about 10,000 baht (£217) in growing a batch of cannabis, and will normally sell it for 30,000 baht in tourist areas.

She worries about the possibility of a legal clampdown, she says. “I keep following the news constantly. But in reality I don’t think it will impact our business that much. If it becomes illegal it will make our price higher,” she says, explaining that a hidden market will inevitably emerge.

Political analysts are also sceptical as to whether the government will impose dramatic legal changes. “There have been so many profits made [from] marijuana since it became decriminalised that it’s going to be virtually impossible to take it out of the economy to the extent that it is right now,” says Paul Chambers, a visiting fellow at ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute, in Singapore, and a lecturer at Naresuan University, in Thailand.

The most likely outcome is that stricter licences will be required to sell, or a doctor’s note needed to buy, cannabis, adds Chambers. In practice, this could make little difference to consumers. “It just means you’ve got to pay more money indirectly.”

Somyos Saetae, who works in the Greenday Dispensary on Khaosan Road, was a barista before he began working in weed shops, seeing it as an opportunity to advance his career. It’s hard to know what impact any legal change could have on the business because there is a lack of clarity about what could be introduced.

He blames what he considers to be unfair media coverage for adding to the negative perception among the public.

“When you talk about recreational use, maybe people only think about parties. But actually there are a lot of people who come to smoke weed to relax or sleep,” he says. On the counter, rows of jars are labelled with the effect the products will have – ranging from energetic, creative and talkative, to sleepy.

“Usually the customer will tell me what they need, whether they want to party, to relax or sleep, and I will recommend a different strain,” says Somyos.

Outside, music from nightclubs thumps across the road, and bar staff wave promotional signs. A male dancer in shorts and cowboy boots dances flamboyantly over the tables outside a nearby bar. Tourists hold their phones in the air, capturing the scene.

Not everyone is ready for a big night out. Near to Somyos’s shop, Sho, 23, from Japan, explains that weed was a factor in drawing him to visit Thailand, as his friend snoozes opposite.

“One hour ago it was mostly Japanese people [here],” he explains, sitting away from the hustle and bustle of the street. It’s illegal back home and he’s never smoked it there, he adds. He’s staying for one week, and has been sightseeing to temples, tried Thai food – and smoked every day.
