30+ date tour kicks off June 5th

YES, one of the biggest bands in prog rock history and true pioneers of the genre, today (March 26) revealed the dates and details for this summer’s 50th Anniversary North American tour titled #YES50: Celebrating 50 Years of YES. Tickets for the 30-plus date outing, which kicks off June 5 and 6 with a two-night engagement at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, IL, will go on sale to the public beginning this Friday, March 30 or Saturday, March 31, with select shows going on sale in early April. A handful of additional dates will be announced soon.

“Much has changed since I joined Yes in 1970, but the core elements of the band have remained consistent,” shares guitarist Steve Howe. “We want to mark this anniversary with a tour that encompasses some of our best-loved work and revisit a few classic pieces that have been lost for a while. We look forward to sharing the 50th anniversary with the fanbase, playing classic songs that celebrate the broad musical style of Yes.”

“I have been blessed to be a member of this amazing band’s rhythm section for the past 46 years, mostly in the company of my great friend Chris Squire, and latterly alongside Chris’ chosen successor, Billy Sherwood, who is receiving recognition for stepping into Chris’ pre-eminent bass and vocals,” says drummer Alan White. “Each night we are pausing to reflect on Chris’ importance to Yes, his desire that we should continue to share Yes music on stages worldwide, and the specific dedication of ‘Onward’ to his huge memory. I’m so grateful to continue to be performing on stages for our dedicated fans and look forward to celebrating our 50th Anniversary in America. It has been a great ride!”

“Being a member of the band during its 50th anniversary is a privilege and honor,” adds Geoff Downes (keys). “It is awe-inspiring to reflect on the caliber and invention of the musicians who have forged the legacy of Yes since 1968, always pushing the boundaries. Playing on stage with founder member Tony Kaye to launch the 50th anniversary [on this year’s Cruise to the Edge] was a wonderful experience for the band and our fans, to whom we dedicate this special tour.”

During this summer’s “Evening with YES” shows, YES–Steve Howe (guitar since 1970), Alan White (drums since 1972), Geoff Downes (keyboards; first joined in 1980), Jon Davison (vocals since 2011) and Billy Sherwood (guitar/keyboards in the 1990s and the late Chris Squire’s choice to take over bass/vocals in 2015)–will perform a special classic hits concert to commemorate the landmark occasion.

The cross-country trek will take the 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees to Kansas City, Denver, Los Angeles (June 19 at the Ford Theater), San Jose, Detroit, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Boston, Staten Island, Philadelphia, Washington, DC and Orlando, among many other cities, before wrapping July 28 in Atlanta. Deep Purple and Yes join forces for North American tour

Deep Purple's One More Time tour will hit North America this summer, and prog legends Yes are on board

Deep Purple studio portrait

Deep Purple have announced that their ongoing One More Time tour will hit North American shores in August, with prog legends Yes completing the bill. The run of shows kicks off at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL, on August 14, and wraps up on September 8 at The Pavilion At Montage Mountain in Scranton, PA. No West Coast dates have yet been announced.

The new dates come in addition to the previously announced UK tour, which hits the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham on November 4, and visits London, Leeds and Manchester before wrapping up at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on November 10. Full dates below.

Deep Purple were scheduled to play a series of shows in Australia later this month as part of the touring Pandemonium festival, but their appearances have been cancelled after organisers reduced the size of the touring package, with fans of Placebo , the Dead Kennedys and Gang Of Four also losing out.

"Deep Purple never wants to disappoint, and so this is a difficult piece of news for us to share with our fans," said the band in a statement. "Deep Purple hopes to return to Australia very soon."

Presale tickets for the US shows will be available from April 10am local, with the general on-sale beginning on Friday, April 12 at the same time.

The prog-rock legends will kick off the trek on Oct. 7 in Glenside, Pa., and wrap on Nov. 19 in Westbury, N.Y. Tickets go on sale on Sept. 2. You can see the full list of tour dates below.

"It is with great sadness that I join with the other members of Yes to acknowledge the passing of our dearest friend and drummer, Alan White," guitarist Steve Howe said in a June 2022 statement. "He gave so many of his best years to the band and was a true believer and determined professional til the very end. Being a kind and loving human being just came naturally to him, with his mellow, non-confrontational personality and abundant generosity, which made him so popular with his friends and everyone he met.”

01.) “On the Silent Wings of Freedom” 02.) “Yours Is No Disgrace”

03.) “No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed” (Richie Havens cover) 04.) “Wonderous Stories” 05.) “The Ice Bridge” 06.) “Dare to Know”

07.) “Heart of the Sunrise”

08.) “Close to the Edge” 09.) “And You and I” 10.) “Siberian Khatru” 11.) “Roundabout” 12.) “Starship Trooper”

Yes band members

According to Yes’ official tour announcement on Instagram , the band will be made up of Steve Howe (guitars, vocals), Geoff Downes (keyboards), Jon Davison (vocals, acoustic guitar), Billy Sherwood (bass guitar, vocals), and Jay Schellen (drums).

Schellen replaces long-time drummer Alan White who passed away in 2022.

Yes new music

This past May, the band dropped their 23rd studio album “Mirror To The Sky.”

Made up of nine songs over two discs, the record sounds distinctly Yes-ian.

There’s your requisite falsetto vocals, extended keyboard solos and mid-song tempo changes.

And yes, most songs run four to 14 minutes long.

That being said, the highlight here is the 14-minute bluesy title track although we’re also partial to the contemplative “Circles of Time.”

If you want to hear the record for yourself, you can find “Mirror To The Sky” right here, right now .

Yes art installation

At all shows, fans will have the opportunity to peruse an on-site gallery by celebrated English artist and designer Roger Dean.

Dean, 78, is the mastermind behind the band’s evocative album covers and posters.

To keep up with what he’s working on these days, you can follow Dean on Instagram here .

YES: On The Road Now With Their Career-Spanning “Classic Tales Of Yes” U.S. Tour

yes tour north america

Following last year’s sold-out U.S. tour, YES —who are Steve Howe (guitars, vocals), Geoff Downes (keyboards), Jon Davison (vocals, acoustic guitar), Billy Sherwood (bass guitar, vocals), and Jay Schellen (drums)—have returned to America with a  career-spanning set list. The “Classic Tales Of Yes” tour launched September 21 in Bethlehem, PA and ends November 4 in Riverside, CA.

On this tour—the latest presentation of their ongoing concert series illuminating their classic music—YES is performing many iconic tracks from the influential and pioneering Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees’ catalog covering 50-plus years as well as music from their acclaimed new album MIRROR TO THE SKY (released May 19 on InsideOutMusic/Sony Music). See below for the in-progress list of tour dates. Go to www.yesworld.com/live for ticketing information.

Ahead of the tour, YES was captured in the photos below at their rehearsals in Lititz, Pennsylvania and shared these quotes.

“ We’ve put together a great setlist covering the length and breadth of Yes’ career .” – Steve Howe

" Our ‘Classic Tales of Yes’ tour is one of our most diverse and adventurous tours to date. Spanning the entire fifty-five years of the band (yes 55!), we are introducing tracks from our latest album Mirror To The Sky. I’m sure the fans that are already familiar with the album will greatly appreciate us performing songs from it live. Of course, alongside many of the other Yes classics, we are also adding in a few surprises for good measure ." – Geoff Downes

“ We so look forward to bringing to the stage many highlights and fan favorites from across the diverse Yes cannon, plus a few selections from our warmly received new studio album, Mirror to the Sky. Come join us beneath the stars !” — Jon Davison

“ We are playing some amazing selections from the YES catalog, including a few tracks from our new record Mirror To The Sky. It’s a very exciting show we’ve put together and one I know YES fans will enjoy. See ya there !!!” — Billy Sherwood

“ There is so much excitement surrounding this tour. It’s quite expansive—there’s something in it for every YES fan including brand new music from our new record. We’re very much looking forward to performing it !” — Jay Schellen

Before the tour kicked off, YES performed an intimate fan club show in Lititz, Pennsylvania, for which Ultimate Classic Rock was on hand and observed in part: “After opening their set with the title track from 1977's Going for the One, Yes unearthed ‘It Will Be a Good Day (The River), off 1999's The Ladder , for the first time since 2000. They also performed 1977's ‘Turn of the Century’ for the first time since 2014, and several other tracks—including ‘Machine Messiah,’ ‘Time and a Word’ and ‘South Side of the Sky’"— for the first time since 2018. The “Classic Tales Of Yes” evening begins with an on-site presentation by world-renowned English artist and designer Roger Dean, whose masterful artwork of striking other-worldly landscapes has graced classic album covers and posters, most prominently by YES and Asia. Every show will feature a Roger Dean gallery in the venue’s reception/foyer area. His work—which also appears on the cover of MIRROR TO THE SKY—has sold more than one hundred million copies worldwide.

They're getting old... but they weren't bad at all. I just hope this is their last tour. Starship Trooper was a good way to go out, and tbh Anderson Rabin and Wakeman is more yes than they are at this point member-wise... anyway, good concert, and I'd catch them if I were you just cuz I think this is it for them.

The concert was excellent. The band line-up performed excellently, with Geoff stepping in brilliantly for Chris Squire, and Jon Davison has an excellent voice as well, keeps up the quality of Yes' amazing music.

I wish I could go back and time and re-live the concert!! This is a definite must-see!! I can't wait till next time!!

Great band with great songs and a great history - it was great to see them purely for that reason. However, when I saw them at Oxford this year they seemed really under-rehearsed. I don't know if they had sound issues on stage but the drummer was in his own tempo for a lot of it. Even my Dad noticed and he's not musical!
