See the Setlist From George Jones’ Final Concert Performance

George Jones played the final live show of his long career just days before his death in 2013, and his setlist included the most classic hits from across his decades-long career, ending appropriately with “He Stopped Loving Her Today.”

The 81-year-old country icon performed his final concert on April 6, 2013, at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum in Knoxville, Tenn., and while the fans in attendance did not know they were witnessing history, Jones himself did.

Nashville’s Tennessean newspaper reported that Jones went backstage and told his wife, Nancy, “I just did my last show. And I gave ’em hell.”

Video from that night shows Jones clearly struggling to breathe and deliver the songs, and he pauses and lets the audience carry him in singing along multiple times. He even performs seated, but it doesn’t appear to matter to the fans, who cheer him on at every moment:

Jones entered the hospital the following morning, and he never returned home. The country legend died on April 26, 2013, from hypoxic respiratory failure, and he was laid to rest in a public ceremony that took place at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on May 2.

THE World Snooker Championship has ended for another year after an epic tournament at the Crucible.

Kyren Wilson beat Jak Jones 18-14 in the final to secure the title for the first time in his career despite a spirited comeback from the qualifier. 

Snooker icon Ronnie O’Sullivan was eliminated by Stuart Bingham at the quarter-final stage as the record for most World Championship wins remains at 7 for at least another year.

Champion thanks his support network

Often we look at the player when it comes to winners of tournaments but as Kyren Wilson spoke about, it is so much more than that.

His parents, who did all they could to finance his dream.

His wife and children for being there for him in every moment, good or bad.

And finally his brother, who is always by his side, this trophy is as much for them as it is for Kyren.

World Snooker Championships deliver

Over the last few weeks we have seen amazing snooker, as ever, this tournament never fails to deliver.

We saw favourites Ronnie O'Sullivan and Judd Trump beaten, while last year's finalists exited the competition in the first round.

It is no surprise that this is the pinnacle of the snooker calendar and long may that continue.

Feeling on top of the world

Kyren Wilson will be absorbing this life-changing moment for weeks to come after winning the World Snooker Championship.

After all his hard work, he can now reap his rewards.

His lifelong dream is now a reality.

Wilson overwhelmed by occasion at Crucible

The new World Snooker Champion spoke of the moment and how he was feeling:

I’d like to say sorry to Jak for that outburst. It means so much to us. My parents have re-mortgaged, sacrificed their whole lives to keep me here. My brother, too. It’s a massive team effort. I said I would never cry again but I have. Jak was so tough. I don’t know if there are any people left in Wales, the amount of people cheering for him. Kyren Wilson was swamped by emotions as it sunk in that he is now the World Champion.

Nobody tipped him to win it at the start of the tournament yet he surprised everyone.

Jak Jones made it hard for him to get over the line but none of that matters now as he has his hands on that coveted trophy.

Beaten finalist Jak Jones had nothing but compliments for the Cazoo World Snooker Championship winner.

Congratulations to Kyren and his family. They deserved it so much. An unbelievable tournament for me. A month ago, I was twitching in my first qualifying match. I am happy with that. Dreams come true for Wilson

The emotions from Kyren Wilson shows how much he has dreamt of this moment at The Crucible.

Once in a final before, only to lose to Ronnie O'Sullivan, he has finally put those demons to bed.

He struggled to play shots once the frame was won as the reality of the situation sunk in.

Kyren Wilson leads the frame 64-4 and the frame is in the bag.

He is so emotional as he continues the frame but then just plays a red safe to put this match to bed.

Wilson is the world champion.

Jones misses a double and leaves a simple pot into the green pocket.

All the reds are there for the taking and this is a big chance for Kyren Wilson to win the World Snooker Championship right here.

He currently leads 39-4 and the reds are so open it just needs good cue ball control.

Wilson has a break of 14 but incredibly after knocking in the black hanging over the pocket he ends up with no red on.

Jones goes for a long cut but rattles it in the pocket, gifting another chance for Wilson.

He seems to be feeling the pressure as his natural game and cue ball control has gone to pot.

Wilson leads the frame 29-0 at the moment.

Jones tries what he thought was a plant in the pack but misses.

It leaves a tricky red into the middle pocket for Wilson but it just clips the edge of the pocket.

The black is hanging over the bottom pocket where Wilson missed an attempt earlier on.

Wilson leads the frame 4-0 currently.

A break of 29 sees Jones take another frame.

Surely he is not going to do the unthinkable here.

There is some massive pressure on Kyren Wilson now.

Jones plays a good shot to get out of a snooker, rolling softly into the reds on the bottom cushion.

Wilson plays an unbelievable pot on the rail as the red drops.

After potting the blue, his cue ball position isn't great and he is wondering whether he may clip the black going for the pot.

He decides it is not worth the foul and plays safe.

Jak Jones leads the frame 53-22 now.

Jones makes a break of 47 before leaving the cue ball directly behind the green at the top of the table.

With the four remaining reds all tied up in the middle of the table, both players exchange safety shots.

Jak Jones leads the frame 53-15 as it stands.

Some nervy stuff from Wilson at the moment.

He has a break of 6 but plays a red to the middle which wipes its feet and comes back out.

Jones knocks in a long red and has another chance of putting a frame winning visit together.

Wilson gets a break of 9 and plays a miscue shot so as not to push it behind the pink.

Jones does brilliantly to get out of it coming off three cushions and gently clipping a red so as to not leave anything on.

Kyren Wilson leads the frame 9-6 at the moment.

A break fo 96 from Jones claws another frame back.

He was on for a 147 but missed a crucial red trying to work some position onto the black.

If he can win the next couple of frames, he will put some real pressure on Wilson mentally.

Jones has created a real chance of a frame-winning visit her.e

He is currently on 48 and the reds are spread everywhere.

It would really put some pressure on Wilson if he were to win another frame.

Jones takes on a pot and miles away from the heart of the pocket.

The red comes back off the cushion and smashes into the pack, sending balls everywhere.

Unbelievably, he leaves nothing on for Wilson at all.

Backstage, it will be two very different changing rooms right now.

Kyren Wilson will just be thinking of winning that one more frame to become champion.

It may be more relaxed with Jak Jones, to all, this final is lost he can just play with freedom and see what happens.

He misses a blue into the middle but takes the frame.

Jones seemed to forget it was the mid-session interval as he sat back down in his seat and a spectator had to tell him.

Jak Jones is hoping he can hang on in this match.

Jak Jones is on a break of 59 and has already sealed this frame.

He has a big chance of making his second century of the evening.

Jones is assured of going into the mid-session interval having reduced the gap to five frames.

Wilson tries a long pot after the break but misses and the cue ball goes into the yellow pocket.

Jones pots a great shot and quickly amasses a break of 17 but then rattles a simple black.

He has missed easy pots far too often in this final and will rue every single one of them if he ends up the runner-up.

Despite this, he still leads the frame 21-8.

Kyren Wilson looks to play a safety and the black ball strikes four cushions before going into the bottom pocket.

A complete fluke but Wilson will take it.

He is now one frame away from winning the World Snooker Championship.
