New Details on HARDY's Bus Crash, Everyone Was Unconscious

country singer tour bus crash

A week and a half ago, photographer/videographer Tanner Gallagher rode in the front lounge of HARDY 's tour bus with the singer/songwriter on the way back from playing a show in Bristol, Tennessee. The tour manager Noah was asleep in the bunk as the bus hurled up I-40 east when the unthinkable happened. A bus crash seriously injured everyone onboard, but no one shared many details.

On Tuesday, Gallagher shared his memories of the night he was told should have killed him.

"It seems like this happened so fast, but I feel the need to talk about it officially…," he wrote on Instagram. "Last week, we had one of the most terrifying accidents happen to us."

Gallagher wrote that the tour bus ran off the highway at approximately 70 mph and flipped into the woods. There were four people on board, himself, HARDY, their tour manager, Noah, and the bus driver, Ricky.

"Within what felt like 3 seconds, our bodies were thrown across the room knocking us all unconscious," he shared. "By the grace of God, we all survived. My injuries included a shattered foot, a punctured lung, four broken ribs, and a fractured vertebrae in my neck."

Gallagher said he was in pain, wrapped in casts and will hardly be able to move for the next few weeks or maybe months. But he wanted to point out an important fact.

"I was told numerous times by doctors that it was a miracle that we survived… and that'll make you think," he said. "I think about the times that I've spent worrying, stressed, upset, been less present, or simply took for granted, and it kills me. I think about all the people in my life, family, friends, co workers, etc. and wished that I could have spent more time with them or somehow made them feel better in moments with something as simple and little as a compliment. Most of all, I think about perspective, in that it's so easy for us to lose sight of all of the things we have."

Gallagher told readers to be thankful for everything, even if it's their health, and they can wake up every day and spend it doing what they love.

"As scary and life threatening as this accident was, I'm glad I now have a better outlook moving forward, and it's only going uphill from here," he said. "I know this accident could have been a lot worse, and for that i'm so grateful. I'm also incredibly thankful for every message, prayer and every person who helped me over the past week, it meant the world."

He said he would be in bed and a wheelchair for a while. And while he isn't upset about that, he'd be happy if someone wanted to bring him lunch "or something."

The country music community flooded his comment section with support.

"Love y'all so much. ❤️🙏🏼" Lindsay Ell wrote.

Meghan Patrick wrote: "Thank you for this perspective and for sharing… so glad y'all are still with us 🖤"

Carly Pearce said: "Oh my god tanner sending you so much love ❤️"

HARDY chimed in with: "My mom is gonna kill you. Love you man. We are so lucky."

HARDY isn't wasting his downtime, either. The singer/songwriter revealed his second studio album, "the mockingbird & THE CROW," will be available on January 20. Three new songs, "here lies country music," "the mockingbird & THE CROW," and "TRUCK BED," are out now.

"What's up, guys? HARDY here," he said when he made the announcement. "Feeling a lot better. Um, feeling much better; still a little bit banged up, but man, definitely on the upswing. And everybody in the accident is also on the upswing. Thank you for all of your prayers. It's been a rough few days, but everybody's doing great," he confirmed in a short social media clip. "I've been going back and forth on, you know, I have a lot of big announcements I was to make. Things I want to post, and things I want to announce, and I was kind of wondering if I should push some of that to down the road. I've talked to everybody, and everybody's like, 'Man, let's keep the train rolling.'"

Jason Aldean's Back In The Saddle Tour - Atlanta, GA

Country singer and songwriter Hardy was hospitalized with "significant injuries" after his tour bus flipped over following a performance in Bristol, Tennessee, on Saturday, he tweeted Sunday.

The singer, whose full name is Michael Wilson Hardy, was released from the hospital and is expected to recover, but the bus driver remains hospitalized, Hardy said in the tweet, adding that four people were on board at the time of the accident, all of whom were treated for "significant injuries."

A preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the driver as James Hudson, 59, and the passengers as Noah Brown, 36, and Tanner Gallagher, 32. Hudson was wearing a seat belt, according to the report, which said that none of the passengers were.

"Our friend, and bus driver needs your prayers as he is still in the hospital," Hardy tweeted of Hudson. "His family is with him while he is being treated and we're all pulling and praying for him."

"I've been released from the hospital, but ordered by doctors to recover for the next few weeks which may cost us at a couple of shows," he continued. "My team and I will keep the fans updated on that as I rest in the coming days."

The conditions of Brown and Gallagher were not immediately clear.

The bus veered off the right of Interstate 40 and flipped over onto its left side, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report.

Hardy had performed at the Country Thunder Music Festival in Bristol, a city about 300 miles east of Nashville, on Saturday night, according to the festival's website.

He is scheduled to perform Saturday in Arlington, Texas, on fellow country singer Morgan Wallen's tour, according to Hardy's website .It is unclear whether the performance will go on.

Hardy was named songwriter of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards this year. His third and most recent album, "Hixtape: Vol. 2," was released last year.

The Country Thunder festival's Twitter account posted a message of support for Hardy and his team.

"HARDY and his crew have become close members of our festival family, and we are praying for full recoveries for everyone involved in last night’s accident," the tweet read .

Bristol Motor Speedway, the venue that hosted the festival, also tweeted a message of support: "Please keep our friends HARDY and his road crew in your thoughts and prayers for a full and swift recovery."

Hardy concluded his tweet by praising the authorities who responded to the scene.

"God bless our medics and local and state officials for their quick response and incredible service," he wrote.

The cause of the crash is not clear. NBC News reached out to a representative for the Tennessee Highway Safety Office but did not immediately hear back.

“There were just four of us, including myself, on the bus, however we were all treated for significant injuries,” he continued.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by HARDY (@hardy)

“Our friend, and bus driver needs your prayers as he is still in the hospital. His family is with him while he’s being treated and we’re all pulling and praying for him.”

Hardy also updated fans on his own health: “I’ve been released from the hospital but ordered by my doctors to recover for the next few weeks which may cost us a couple of shows,” he said, adding that fans would stay informed over the next few days as he “rested”.

“Please keep our road family in your prayers and I promise to keep you updated in the days to follow. God bless our medics and local and state officials for their quick response and incredible service,” he continued.

Country singer John Michael Montgomery injured in 'serious' tour bus accident

country singer tour bus crash

Country singer  John Michael Montgomery  says he's "recovering" from injuries suffered when his tour bus overturned Friday  in Jellico, Tennessee, on the way to a concert appearance in North Carolina.

The 57-year-old vocalist behind songs including 1995's "I Can Love You Like That" and "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)" revealed on his verified Facebook page that he and other passengers were hurt in the crash.

“Despite some cuts and broken ribs, I am doing well. I will take some time over the next couple of weeks to heal and be back on the road soon," he wrote. "I am grateful to the medics and highway patrol for their quick response to this difficult situation. Thanks to everyone for their concerns."

William Salyer of Staffordsville, Kentucky, and Marc Wood of Frankfort, Kentucky, suffered injuries along with Montgomery. The singer also thanked East Tennessee highway patrol officers and paramedics for a "quick response" to the situation.

Luke Bell found dead at 32:  Country singer was known for hits 'Where Ya Been?' and 'Jealous Guy'

Montgomery's upcoming tour dates included a now-removed Sept. 17 appearance in New Braunfels, Texas.

Tennessee Highway Patrol's report states that Montgomery's 2001 Prevost Featherlite bus was traveling south of Jellico on Interstate 75 when it veered off the road. The vehicle overturned after striking an embankment. Salyer was the only passenger not wearing a seatbelt.

Montgomery, a Danville, Kentucky, native, recently joined his son, Waker, and another Kentuckian, American Idol Season 20 winner Noah Thompson , on the Kentucky State Fairgrounds' Texas Roadhouse concert stage.

"Thank you, Kentucky State Fair, for a great night. Nothing better than being home and sharing the stage with (my son)," he said.

Montgomery's brother Eddie was half of the iconic country duo Montgomery Gentry. The bus accident came almost exactly five years after Troy Gentry, the other half of the group, died in a helicopter crash on the way to a 2017 concert in New Jersey.

Montgomery's daughter, Madison, is set to wed country artist Travis Denning in 2023.

The country music world has had a couple of tough blows of late, and sadly there is another to report as star Shania Twain’s bus and a truck involved with her tour were reportedly involved in a crash on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Canada and has reportedly left 13 people hospitalized.

Twain, 58, was luckily not on board the bus or truck when the incident took place, and if there is a bright side to this it is that none of those injured reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries.

Still, it sounds like a scary scene.

Twain’s management told PEOPLE that the incident happened while they were traveling between Winnipeg and Saskatoon.

“Multiple vehicles encountered dangerous driving conditions due to inclement weather,” Maverick Management said in a statement. “Members of the production crew who require medical attention have been taken to nearby hospitals.

“We are incredibly thankful to the emergency services teams for their quick response and ongoing support,” the management group told PEOPLE. “We ask for patience as we look after our touring family.”

The news had fans across social media sending prayers and well wishes to Twain and her crew.

“Wishing a speedy recovery to (Shania Twain’s) crew who were involved in a highway accident on the (Queen of Me Tour),” the Touch Tunes account on X posted. “Our hearts are with them sending love and support their way!”

“Many prayers for them all,” another account wrote.

“Shania I hope all is OK,” another responded. “Hope the crew is OK. I’ll be praying.”

Country music star John Michael Montgomery was injured after his tour bus was involved in a "serious accident" on the way to a show in North Carolina.

“Sold” country music star John Michael Montgomery is recovering after his tour bus had a “serious accident” on a Tennessee highway while headed to a North Carolina concert Friday.

Montgomery, who boasts more than 30 singles, said on his Facebook page Saturday that he suffered “some cuts and broken ribs” and would “take some time over the next couple of weeks to heal and be back on the road soon.”

Also injured were Kentucky residents William Salyer and Marc Wood, the Tennessean reported. Only Salyer reportedly didn’t have a seatbelt on.

Montgomery’s 2001 Prevost Featherlite bus was heading south of the city of Jellico on Interstate 75 when it veered off the road and struck an embankment before overturning, the newspaper reported, citing the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

“I am grateful to the medics and highway patrol for their quick response to this difficult situation,” Montgomery, 57, said on Facebook. “Thanks to everyone for their concerns.”

The next concert scheduled for the Kentucky native is Sept. 24 in Indiana, according to his website. The Tennessean reported a show set for Sept. 17 in Texas was scratched.

Montgomery suffered “some cuts and broken ribs” after his bus overturned on Interstate 75 in Tennessee.

Some of Montgomery’s hits also include “I Can Love You Like That” and “I Love The Way You Love Me.”

His brother is country singer Eddie Montgomery of the duo Montgomery Gentry – who used to perform with Troy Gentry until Gentry’s death in a helicopter crash en route to a show, the Tennessean reported.

Jason Aldean Accident: Country Singer's Tour Bus Crashes Before Show [REPORT]

Jason Aldean

Jason Aldean faced a tragic accident ahead of his West Virginia show after one of his tour buses got involved in a crash.

On Thursday, one of the tour buses that was carrying Aldean's equipment got involved in a crash in West Virginia hours before the scheduled show. Local reports revealed that the incident happened around 5:00 a.m on I-64 East in Huntington.

According to WSAZ , the Huntington Police confirmed that the 44-year-old country singer was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The crash, however, led to a temporary closure of one lane of the interstate before it was restored nearly five hours later.

Fortunately, the crash did not affect Aldean's "Back in the Saddle" tour at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Park. He initially began his tour in August in Virginia Beach and is expected to end through back-to-back shows in Florida.

"Being on the road makes all of us - the band, the crew and me - happy and I haven't felt this excited about going on tour in 15 years," he penned on his website.

Jason Aldean's Faced Incident After Mourning

Aldean's tour bus incident happened months after the singer mourned over the death of a person close to his health.

The singer shared to his Instagram account in August that the security guard who saved him during the 2017 Las Vegas shooting  has died.

The guard, Ryan "Rhino" Fleming, reportedly pulled him offstage when the Route 91 shooting happened. He reportedly put his life in danger just to save Aldean and his staff.

"He was a good man and an even better friend. We will all miss you brother and thank you for having my back all these years. We love ya Rhino! RIP," he captioned the post.

He also shared photos of him with the late guard, who he treats like a lifelong friend. He reportedly met him at a bar in Macon when Fleming was 18 before working for the Sheriff's department when he got older.

Aldean was performing on stage at the Routh 91 Harvest music festival when gunman, Stephen Paddock, opened fire on the 22,000 country music fans. Sixty people were reportedly killed during the Las Vegas Strip shooting.

Aldean did not reveal Ryan Fleming's cause of death, but he continuously mourned as he still could not accept the untimely passing of his friend.

'American Idol' Alum Alex Miller Involved In Tour Bus Accident That Left 1 Driver Dead

Marco Margaritoff

country singer tour bus crash

One man has died following a vehicular accident involving “ American Idol ” alum Alex Miller’s tour bus.

Kentucky police announced Wednesday that the fatal crash had occurred the night prior at 10:28 p.m. in Rockcastle County. James Mcpheron, a 53-year-old local, purportedly lost control of his Toyota RAV4 and drove into the path of Miller’s bus.

“While traveling back from a vacation ... Alex Miller and several members of his band were on a bus that was hit by a car,” read a Wednesday statement posted to the musician’s social media pages.

“Sadly, the driver of the car is deceased,” the statement from “Team Alex” continued. “Alex sends his thoughts and prayers to the gentleman and his family. No one on the bus was injured.”

Police said that the accident occurred as Mcpheron was traveling westbound on South Wilderness Road, a two-lane street that snakes from Mount Vernon to Livingston.

The operator of the tour bus was identified as Roger Miller of Lancaster. It wasn’t immediately clear if this was a reference to Alex Miller’s father, who is also named Roger Miller.

Mcpheron was transported to Rockcastle Regional Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Alex Miller was 17 when he competed on "American Idol." He survived a recent vehicular accident without injury.

The tragic accident occurred on the same day that Alex Miller, who has recently shared multiple videos of himself performing on a tour bus, released a new song titled “Oh, Odessa.”

The country singer notably competed on the 19th season of “American Idol,” which aired in 2021. Miller — who was only 17 years old when he stunned judges Lionel Richie , Katy Perry and Luke Bryan with his cover of Jimmy Martin’s “Freeborn Man” — was eliminated from the show, but was nonetheless invited by Bryan to perform for a crowd at the hallowed Grand Ole Opry in Tennessee.

Kentucky police noted Wednesday that their investigation into the vehicular accident is ongoing.

Covington police identify bike rider killed in bus crash

COVINGTON, Ky. (WXIX) - Covington police have released the name of the bike rider who was killed in a crash with a charter bus Thursday morning.

Jonathon Hussing, 26, died at around 9 a.m. when he was hit by the bus at the Martin Luther King Boulevard and Scott Street intersection. He was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he later died.

Jamie Oliver says she and her sister were driving to work when they saw the crash happen.

She says that traffic was slow, so she thinks the biker had thought he had time to make it across the street.

“It was through a slow traffic stop, but then it started going full force as it pushed on the gas and knocked him off,” Oliver said. “They did get off the bus and check on him, but he wasn’t moving, and they went under there and just pulled him out because his body was by the tire.”

Bus riders say they were coming from Mason City, Iowa, and were supposed to be touring the city before leaving Thursday night.

After the crash, the bus riders went to the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption until police let them get their belongings off the charter bus. They were then picked up by a different bus around 1:30 p.m.

Oliver believes there is a safety concern at the intersection of MLK and Scott Street. She hopes city leaders will look into adding a better crosswalk.

“It is a little bit, like I said, very busy and late in the afternoon after people get off work. Maybe adding better signs and readings because I think that’s where the mix up happened, the light changed so quick and he went going the same time as the bus,” Oliver said.

Police have not identified the bike rider at this time.

Officers say the intersection was closed for hours but has since reopened.

Anyone with information about this incident or who captured it on camera is urged to call detectives at 859-292-2234 or Cincinnati/NKY Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.

Police identify cyclist who died after collision with Iowa charter bus in Covington

Police have identified the man who died after being struck by a charter bus in Covington Thursday.

Jonathon Hussing, 26, of Covington, was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a charter bus traveling from Iowa to tour the Northern Kentucky area, police said in a news release.

The police previously reported Hussing as a "pedestrian," but they later clarified he was not walking, but rather cycling when he was struck.

Officers responded to the collision at the intersection of 12th and Scott streets just before 9 a.m.

Hussing was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Just after 12:30 p.m., Lt. Justin Bradbury confirmed Hussing had died.

Detectives and officers with the Covington Police Department's traffic bureau are investigating the crash.

Anyone with information is urged to call detectives at 859-292-2234 or Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040. Nearby residents and business owners are also being asked to contact police if they have camera footage of the incident.
