Port Canaveral Disney Cruise Parking Updated 2024 – Which is the Best Option?

Sharing is caring!

Did you know that the Port Canaveral cruise port parking facility is ranked as one of the world’s busiest ports for leisure cruises?

Port Canaveral serves Disney, Carnival, NCL, MSC, and Royal Caribbean Cruises. All use the same on-site and offsite Port Canaveral parking options.

Whether you’re setting sail on the Disney Treasure or the Disney Fantasy, knowing the ideal parking options will ensure that you have a seamless embarkation.

In this article, we’ll share everything you need to know about Disney Cruise parking at Port Canaveral by going through the following:

  • Overview of Disney Cruise Port Canaveral parking
  • Disney Cruise Port Canaveral parking schedule
  • Disney Cruise Port Canaveral parking rates
  • Off-site Disney Cruise Port Canaveral parking options

Let’s begin!

Disney Cruise Port Canaveral Parking Tips

Port Canaveral Disney Cruise Parking

The first thing you need to know is that the Disney cruise terminal is Terminal 8 at Port Canaveral.

The Disney Cruise Port Canaveral address is 9155 Charles M Rowland Dr. Port Canaveral, FL 32920.

However, there are a number of options for Port Canaveral Cruise Parking if you are sailing on a Disney cruise.

This also applies to all the other cruise lines which sail out of Port Canaveral.

When we sail on a Disney cruise we are always looking for the most convenient parking option even though this may cost a few extra dollars.

Parking Schedule Days

disneywishcruiseparking

Note that most of the Port Canaveral parking options will charge you for the day that you arrive and the day that you leave.

This means that if you arrive on a Saturday morning and leave on a Saturday morning you will be charged for a total of 8 days.

A lot of guests don’t realize this and they are surprised by the calculation of the number of days they are charged for parking.

Even if you only spend a partial day in the parking lot, you will be charged for a complete day.

Parking Rates

disneywishgrandhall

These rates are for the official onsite Port Canaveral Parking which is within walking distance of all the cruise ports.

You do not need to take a shuttle with this cruise parking option; you simply walk to your cruise ship terminal.

The prices for parking directly at the Port Canaveral Port for a Disney Cruise are:

These prices reflect the fact that you pay for one extra day as explained above.

So for example, $136 will be your total Port Canaveral parking cost if you sail on a 7-night cruise.

All major credit cards are accepted – but cash is not .

Essential Guide to Disney Cruises

We have sailed out of many destinations, and the Port Canaveral cruise port is one of the easiest and most efficient.

As soon as you arrive at the Disney Cape Canaveral cruise port, you know that you are already on vacation!

portcanaveralcruise port

There is also a preferred parking option at Disney’s Port Canaveral. However, it is not necessarily the best parking at Port Canaveral Disney Cruise.

But it is worth considering. You add $20 to the total rate for premium parking at Port Canaveral.

This does get you closer to the Disney ship, but really, the premium is rather too much for the benefit it actually gives.

There are only 113 spaces available. It is closer to the terminal but really for the benefit you do have to think carefully about whether this is a good option for you.

It’s less walking to the terminal – but is it worth $20?

Probably not.

We know it is only $20 extra, but you have to balance out if it is worth it.

That would pay for quite a few drinks of the day onboard a Disney ship!

disneywishpooldeck

Remember that if you park at the Disney terminal parking lot you can drop off your luggage curbside before you park. This means that you don’t have to deal with carrying your luggage from the parking lot.

There will be plenty of porters to help you and take your bags. The porters at Cape Canaveral are easily recognizable by their bright orange vests.

Tip your porter $1 to $2 per bag.

Also, remember to have your Disney cruise luggage tags attached.

If you haven’t got any luggage tags then the porters will write you one out. You just have to tell them your stateroom number.

You pay on your way into the parking lot. If you have a prepaid voucher this is where you show it.

The most convenient level of the parking lot is Level 3. This is because you are on the same level as the covered walkway direct to the Disney cruise terminal.

If you arrive too early at the cruise terminal they will not be letting people in yet.

There is a great view of the ship from the covered walkway from the parking lot.

It all helps to build the excitement and anticipation of sailing on your Disney cruise!

You will reach the cruise terminal and there you have to go through X-ray machines. The process is easy and it is nowhere near as stressful as doing this in the airport.

Off-site Parking Options

There are also offsite car parking choices at Cape Canaveral for Disney cruise parking which may save you a few bucks.

However, it will cost you more in time, as the shuttle bus has to get you to the cruise port.

There are a number of offsite Port Canaveral Parking options:

Cruisetime Parking and Shuttle

This parking lot has very reasonable rates and is located about 15 minutes drive from Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal.

The rate is $10 per day, but you are charged for your arrival and your departure day.

This means you will pay for 8 days if you are on a 7-day cruise. So the total will be $80 which really is very reasonable for cruise parking.

However, all cruises 5 days or less are charged at a $50 flat rate.

Note that these rates are for 4 people in the vehicle. Extra people are charged at $5 per person.

disney cruise parking

Also, be sure to book ahead. Same-day reservations have an additional $10 per day fee – meaning you may as well park at the terminal.

Cruisetime no longer have a shuttle service to the Disney Cruise port – if you park here you will have to take an Uber to and back from the port.

You can see more details at book online at Cruisetime Parking and Shuttle.

Park Port Canaveral

This is another very good choice for Port Canaveral Cruise parking. It is located 3 miles from the terminal so the shuttle takes around 5 minutes.

The basic rate is $12.95 per day.

However, like many other parking lots at Port Canaveral, you are charged for your day of arrival and departure.

There is also another fee which is labeled as a Port Canaveral Entry Fee which is an additional $7.50 per vehicle.

Parking is also available for oversized vehicles at the rate of $20.95 per day.

You can see more details and book online at Park Port Canaveral .

Go Port Canaveral

Updated December 2022 – Some of our readers have reported very long delays with the shuttle to the port for this company so our present advice is to use caution if you are thinking about using this option. We now understand that shuttle service may no longer be offered so check directly before you book.

This is a parking spot that has a slightly unusual rate system.

They charge you not for the number of nights, but for the number of people in your vehicle.

This system has you paying a per-person rate for shuttle transfers, rather than paying per night for your car.

This would be particularly good value if you were going on a longer cruise with just 2 people in your car.

The parking lot itself is pretty small – so if you intend on parking here you really must reserve in advance.

Packages start at $60 for one traveler. For each additional person in your vehicle, there is a $10 extra fee.

Therefore 7-night parking will cost you $70 if you have 2 people in your car. If you have 5 people it will be $85.

Not a bad rate for 7 nights.

However, it will be the same rate for 3 nights. So this is not going to be a good deal for most people on a shorter cruise.

You can see more details at Go Port Canaveral .

Stay at the Airport Before Your Cruise – Is This The Best Solution?

Cruise and Hotel Stay Parking Options

Another great option is to combine a hotel stay with parking at Port Canaveral. This is a good choice if you are driving from some distance away and want to have a relaxing stay before your Disney Cruise.

We have used this option before joining a cruise and it is our preferred option. It cuts down on any stress that you may have about arriving at the cruise port late.

You can have a relaxing morning before joining your Disney Cruise. It also gives you an extra night of vacation time!

Often if you book a cruise and stay package you will get free parking for up to 7 nights. You will need to check on the individual hotel websites to see prices and current deals.

However, it can be a very cost-effective way of parking and having the combined benefit of a stay at a hotel the night before your Disney Cruise.

One hotel with park and stay is Radisson Cape Canaveral. You can book a cruise and stay package.

Check the link below on the website for details of prices. This is an older hotel and it does get mixed reviews. There is a free shuttle to the Disney Cruise port.

The Country Inn Suites also offers Port Canaveral Cruise Packages. There is a free breakfast and free Wi-Fi included in the package price.

A free shuttle is also available to the Disney Cruise port.

I have two grandchildren under the age of 5 and have to be in car seats can you tell me if the shuttle has car seats for the kids or do we need to park at the port?

Tuesday 7th of March 2023

@Shirley varner, @Shirley varner, I checked and they do not. They also told me the shuttles are bench like and have NO seat belts either. Guess lots of people are ok with that. Problem for my grandchild who is 3; no way would his parents (my son) would allow him without seatbelt.

Saturday 10th of July 2021

You would have to check direct but it is highly unlikely that a shuttle will have a car seat - usually, you have to take your own.

After our Disney Cruise we have reservations at Contemporary Resort at Disney World. we see that from ORL. to Port Canaveral Magic express has RT fare of $78. However when we get off of ship we want magic express to take us right to Disney World Resort hotel. Is this available, and would it be included in $78 RT ticket cost? Or do we have to make other arrangements

Yes, you can get the Disney Transportation back from Port Canaveral after your cruise. The price is the same for a trip to/from the airport as it is to/from a Disney Resort Hotel. So although you do have to make it clear on your booking that you want to be picked up at the airport and returned to an hotel, the price will be the same of $39 each way, $78 return. Enjoy your trip!

Port Canaveral Cruise Parking (Where to Park) Options, Prices, and Map

Looking for Port Canaveral parking during your cruise? The good news is that you’ll have plenty of choice across all price ranges.

Parking Garage 3 at Port Canaveral

These days, Port Canaveral has turned into one of the busiest — and most popular — ports in the entire nation. Millions of passengers each year take cruises from the terminals near Orlando.

Of course, that means millions of people each year have to make their way to the port and many drive their vehicle. And since there is such a large market for a place to park, a number of lots have sprung up to offer you a spot while you enjoy your cruise.

One thing you should know — the port sits in a large complex on its own, meaning space for third-party parking lots right next to the port is sparse. However, the port does offer parking of its own at your ship, but it can be expensive.

There are other options that are more affordable, as long as you don’t mind a shuttle ride to the terminal. Most shuttles are quick trips (less than 10 minutes) and can drop you off right at the ship. Parking lots include these rides for free in their rates.

Below, we cover your parking lot options, along with details of each lot to help you find the right spot for you.

Port Canaveral Parking Options for a Cruise

Note: Most lots in the area charge parking fees for both the day you arrive and the day you leave. So if you take a 7-day cruise (e.g., departing Sunday afternoon and returning back the following Sunday morning), you will be charged for eight days of parking.

Rates below are estimated (including taxes/fees) and are subject to change. Want to save money? See our page on Port Canaveral parking discounts and coupons .

Port Canaveral Official Parking Parking at the port is by far the most convenient. Parking lots and garages are next to each cruise terminal, making for a very short walk to check-in. For that convenience, however, you will pay a higher price — $17 per day, including both the day of arrival and departure.

Parking is payable via credit card. Disabled parking is free of charge, if your vehicle has special equipment such as ramps or foot/hand controls, have a Florida Toll Exemption Permit, or have a Florida Disabled Veteran license plate. More details are here .

Given the proximity of the lots to the cruise terminal, we wouldn’t blame anyone for paying the higher prices. However, cheaper options are available if you’re looking to save.

  • Distance: At terminal

Port Parking Space The newest lot to offer cruise parking is also the closest off-port option. It’s located adjacent to port property, meaning you can be at your ship within minutes. The lot offers 24/7 on-site monitoring, included shuttle to your cruise ship, and parking that’s a sharp discount to what you’d pay at the port.

According to the lot, parking runs $12.95 per day — about 25% cheaper than parking at the port. However, they also offer discounts that can get that rate down even further to $11.66 per day (10% off). There are also military and travel agent discounts available. A handful of electric vehicle chargers are also offered at the parking lot. Note that parking for Disney ships is not offered.

  • Cost: $12.95 per day, plus taxes and fees
  • Distance: 0.5 miles (free shuttle provided)
  • Website: https://portparkingspace.com/

Sign for Park Port Canaveral

Park Port Canaveral Located about three miles (5-minute drive) from the cruise terminals, Park Port Canaveral is one of your many options for off-site cruise parking. We found a daily rate of $12.85 plus tax for an advance reservation, but there are discounts available (including 15% off for signing up for their mailing list). In additional, there are additional taxes and fees you’ll have to pay, but the rate is still considerably less than parking at the port.

The lot offers a complimentary shuttle to and from the port, which is just a few minutes away. Like other lots, Park Port Canaveral charges both for the day of arrival and the day of departure.

  • Cost: $12.85 per day, plus taxes and fees
  • Distance: 3 miles (free shuttle provided)
  • Website:  http://www.parkportcanaveral.com

Park N Cruise Port Canaveral Park N Cruise is located right before you cross the water to the port and it’s only a few miles from the terminals. The rate is $12.99 per day for most cars. Keep in mind that as with most lots you will need to pay for the day you arrive and the day you leave. All told, with taxes and fees the rate runs about $120 for a week cruise.

Looking for a discount? There are a number of specials with discounts of 5-10% for veterans, public service workers, AAA members, and AARP members.

  • Cost: $12.99 per day, plus taxes and fees
  • Website: https://www.parkncruiseportcanaveral.com/

GoPort The parking package from GoPort has a different spin — they don’t charge for parking but offer it free. Instead, you pay for the shuttle to the cruise port. They also currently only offer service for Carnival Mardi Gras. If you are sailing any other ship, you’ll need to find an alternative lot to park.

Rates start at $60 for up to four passengers for a weeklong Mardi Gras cruise. That comes out to $7.50 per day, or less than half what the official Port Canaveral lots charge. In other words, you save about $80 over the course of your cruise by parking here.

  • Cost: $60 for a 7-day cruise (Carnival Mardi Gras only)
  • Distance: 6.5 miles
  • Website: https://www.goport.com/

Port Canaveral Parking Port Canaveral Parking is located on Merritt Island, just about 10 minutes from the cruise ships. It charges rates of $12.95 per day for parking, which is roughly $4 cheaper versus parking at the cruise terminals (like other lots, discounts are common , including a recent ‘flash sale’ for 24% off).

There is also covered parking available, costing an extra $20 for your stay. A shuttle is provided to the cruise port until 1:15 p.m.

  • Cost: $12.95 per day ($20 extra for covered), plus taxes and fees
  • Distance: 6.5 miles (free shuttle provided)
  • Website: https://portcanaveralparking.com/

Cruisetime Parking and Shuttle Cruisetime is located southwest of Port Canaveral, on Merritt Island. It’s only about 8.5 miles from the port and the ride to the terminal takes about 15 minutes. Parking rates are simple — $10 per day, but that includes the day of your arrival and departure. Cruises of four days or less are a flat $50.

So it is $80 for a 7-day cruise and $50 for a four-day trip. Cruisetime also offers a complimentary shuttle to and from the port that’s included with your parking.

  • Cost: $10.00 per day
  • Distance: 8.5 miles (shuttle provided)
  • Website: https://www.cruisetimeparking.com

Beachline Shuttle Similar to what’s offered by GoPort, Beachline Shuttle offers “no charge” parking, but you pay for the ride over to the port. Unlike GoPort, the lot offers parking for all the cruise lines meaning you can save considerably over parking at the port no matter who you sail.

Prices vary only on how many passengers are sailing. If you need a shuttle to the port for two passengers, it’s $60. Prices are $70 for three riders and $80 for four. Contact the lot if needing space for five or more passengers.

  • Cost: $60 for a 7-day cruise
  • Distance: 5 miles (shuttle provided)
  • Website: https://www.beachlineshuttle.com

Individual Hotels   In addition to cruise parking lots, another option is parking at a hotel. Port Canaveral has lots of hotels near the port and many also offer free or discounted parking if you stay the night before your cruise. As well, they will often have a shuttle to the port on cruise day.

Note that some hotels require you to book a package to receive parking. Due to the health crisis, some packages may be paused temporarily until cruises return in full.

If you are staying in the Port Canaveral area, see our list of hotels that will allow you to park your car for the length of your cruise .

Frequently Asked Parking Questions

Is there free Port Canaveral parking? Yes, if you are disabled, then you might receive free parking at the port. For ports in Florida, cars for disabled passengers that have special equipment (like ramps, lifts, or special controls) can get free parking for their cruise .

As well, Port Canaveral’s official lots offer free parking for disabled veterans with a Florida license plate with that designation.

Where should I park? If you are driving in, your parking decision rests mainly on if you want to save money or want convenience. For those looking to save, we suggest parking at an off-site parking lot. Their rates are considerably less and you can still take the shuttle right to the cruise ship. The downside is that you have to wait for the shuttle going to and from the ship.

If you want the most convenience, check out parking at the actual port. Yes, it’s more expensive, but you can walk right to the ship. It also makes it easier to get back home when you return from your trip.

Why am I being charged for 8 days for a 7-day cruise? One thing we’ve noticed is that parking lots in the area charge an extra day for your cruise. Say you have a 7-day cruise that leaves Sunday afternoon and returns the following Sunday morning. In total, you were gone for seven full days. However, by the clock, your car was on the lot for eight different calendar days counting both the day you arrived at the parking lot and the day you depart. Even if you pick your car up first thing on Sunday morning, the parking lots charge for an additional day.

Can I park at a hotel for cheaper? Yes. As a perk to entice cruise passengers many hotels in the area have parking packages. Simply stay a night and the hotel will allow you to park your car and provide a shuttle to the port. It’s an easy way to save if you plan to stay in the area beforehand. See our list of Port Canaveral park and cruise hotels here .

I am being dropped off for a MSC cruise. Where can my son drop me off?

Right at the terminal. Just follow the signs!

DO THE PARKING LOTS PARK THE CAR FOR YOU OR DO YOU HAVE TO RIDE AROUND AND LOOK FOR A SPOT

I just found out that GoPort is working only with Carnival Mardi Gras indefinitely so you might want to remove them from your list.

Thanks for letting us know. Will update this article with the new details soon.

You listed Canaveral cruise parking at 6.95 a day 3 miles south of the port. Where or what site do I go go to find this company. I have tried searching to no avail

This is a lot that paused operations during the pandemic. They may not have returned to business.

Are you able to park a transport truck with flatbed trailer at any lots near port. My husband is meeting me and my kids there while he is taking a break from work and will have his truck.

Given the special circumstances, I’d recommend calling the lot to see what they can do.

These numbers dont make sense. 5 day is a 4 night. so arriv monday and leave friday. 5 days times $17 is nt 102?

A five-day cruise is also five nights (cruise lines don’t count the day you arrive back in port). So a 5-day/night cruise would depart Monday (1), Tuesday (2), Wednesday (3), Thursday (4), Friday (5), arrive back in port Saturday morning.

Parking lots here charge for the day you arrive and the day you leave. The parking lot would charge you for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. So a five-day/night cruise is charged for six days of parking. $17*6 = $102.

Just trying to find out if you have RV parking. Says you do but I cannot find any info about it

We are not a cruise parking lot; we’ve instead written an article about your options. The cruise terminal offers RV parking. If you need more details, you can call them at (321) 783-7831.

Have you heard of Port Canaveral VIP Valet? Operated by AutoCare Concierge. They offer a $99 flat rate with drop off service (your car).

Do they ever run out of spaces at the port? I ask because they don’t let you reserve a space anymore.

Not that we have ever heard of. If it were to happen (highly unlikely) there are the off-site parking lots as well.

Did I book my Parking for Sat Dec 30, 2017 ????

Mr. King, we are not the parking lot’s website. We just list the parking options.

Park n Cruise was great…prompt, polite and 1/2 the cost.

Parking at Port Canaveral: All of the Details

November 16, 2016 by Disney Cruise Mom 21 Comments

We recently returned from a cruise on the Dream (you can read the full trip report here ) and parked our car at Port Canaveral for the first time.  I briefly touched on this topic in my trip report, but I want to elaborate some more on the parking process at Port Canaveral.  Being our first time to drive and park our car at the port, I wanted to know all of the details before we got there.  So, I hope this post might help some people out.

First, let me make it clear that this post is talking about using the parking facilities at the Disney Cruise terminal at Port Canaveral, NOT an off-site parking facility, of which there are many to choose from.  They are less expensive, but not as convenient.

Now, let’s talk about prices.  I don’t want to list the prices here because if they change, this page will no longer be accurate.  So, click here to go to the official Port Canaveral website and see the most current parking prices.

Disney is located at terminal 8, and the address you need to type in your GPS is:

9155 Charles M Rowland Dr Port Canaveral, FL 32920.

As your car enters the secure terminal area from the main road, you will be forced to immediately turn left (we are mid-turn in the photo) and you will see this:

On the left side of the photo above, the covered area is where cars stop at the curb and unload luggage, and maybe passengers.  The people in orange are porters waiting to take luggage and send it directly the ship (make sure you have your DCL luggage tags attached!).  They will even unload your bags from your car for you.  They work for tips, so tipping $1-$2 per bag is standard.  Here is a closer look:

There is typically a person standing in the road telling cars which number to pull up next to under the canopy.  Some people drop off their passengers at this point as well, and then meet back up with them before checking in inside the terminal.  We chose to stay together, so after we dropped off our luggage (except for our carry-ons), we drove straight ahead, under the elevated walkway that you can see on the far left, and then turned left to enter the parking garage.  This is what the entrance looks like:

When you drive through the gate shown above, you pay in full with your credit card.

Before I forget, let me mention that in addition to the parking garage, there is a surface/uncovered lot closer to the ship that is considered “premium” parking and costs more.  I don’t know the cost difference, but I don’t see the advantage as 1) it is not covered, and 2) the garage is pretty darn close to the ship as it is.  However, it is where you would park if you have an RV.

Okay, back to the garage.  When we pulled in, level 1 was full, so we went up to level 3 and found a spot.  We chose level 3 because there is a covered walkway on this level that goes straight to the terminal building.  We arrived about 10:15 and they were not letting people in the building yet, so a line had formed across the covered walkway and ended right near the elevator bank of the parking garage.  We parked, took a quick picture, and got in line.

They seemed to open the building right at 10:30 am, and the line started to move.  There was a checkpoint near the garage where you had to show a photo ID and provide your room number before they would let you proceed.  I took these pictures from the covered walkway:

When you get close to the terminal building, you can begin to see the security check point.  No photos are allowed in this area, so after I took this one, I put my camera away.

Once inside the doors, you will go through a metal detector and your carry-ons will be x-rayed.  Then, you walk around the corner and get in line to check in.  That’s all there is to it!

After our cruise, we grabbed a porter who helped us go to our designated section and find our luggage.  The porter put all of our suitcases on his dolly and then walked us through the customs desk and all the way to our car.  He was with us for about 20 minutes, so I tipped him $20.

I hope this helps anyone who may have questions about parking at the port, and if you have a question that I didn’t answer, please leave it in the comments below or email me at [email protected].

Thank you for the information on the parking. I was about to pay for offsite parking in advance until i saw your post. I’d rather park closer to the terminal.

Do you have to show your parking receipt or pay when departing the parking facility or do you just drive off?

December 20, 2017 at 10:55 am

Hi Ron! It’s been a while, but I just remember driving off. You stop and pay when you arrive to park, on your way into the garage.

January 9, 2018 at 1:10 pm

Thank you for your blog. I came here to see if anyone else experienced the same parking nightmares my family and I just endured at the “preferred” parking lot. It was astronomically pricey at $88 for 4 days but since I was following my dad and he drove in there unaware, I went ahead and paid for it hoping it was higher security than other lots as there were several security guards milling about with k9s. We embarked on the Disney Dream on Jan 5,2018. Before parking, I had a full tank of gas, and I double checked to make sure all doors were locked. When we got off the cruise on Jan 8, 2018 and came back to our car, I noticed that the doors were unlocked and my remote key/electronics were not working. I assumed that I must have left the lights on and drained the battery so we flagged down a security guard and he tried to jump start the battery. My headlights were turned off. After several attempts, the car would not start so I contacted AAA. When the technician arrived 3 hours later, he tried to jump the battery and noticed my fuel tank was empty. I told him that’s impossible because i filled up in Melbourne and it was full before we left. I even had the receipt. Since it was raining, he couldn’t determine if my fuel had been siphoned out or if perhaps I had a leak. The tech added some gas and when we finally left the lot, I filled up at the nearest gas station and drove down to Miami. This trip used 1/2 tank of gas and there doesn’t appear to be any leaks in the tank. 1. Has anyone had a similar experience parking at port canaveral? 2. Does anyone know if the lot is monitored 24/7? 3. Do you have any advice for me in terms of what I should do and how other Disney cruisers can prevent this from happening to them? This really soured our otherwise happy vacation especially when you are so exhausted after 4 days out at sea.

January 10, 2018 at 9:03 am

Jean, that sounds terrible! I’m sorry your cruise ended on such a sour note. I have not heard any specifics about that lot, but I would assume that since the terminal is a gated facility that the security measures would be equal throughout. But, that is just my assumption. If I were you, I would call DCL and let them know about the situation (I can’t think of any other possible scenario other than someone siphoned your gas). I think there may be an email address for complaints/concerns – I don’t know it, but you may be able to find it with an online search. You could try that as well. I would also look for a number online for the cruise terminal and call and let them know. At this point I can’t think of anything else you can do. I’m sorry this happened to you!

September 29, 2018 at 9:00 am

Hi! This parking blog is super helpful, thank you! I’m driving down with two young kids from 12 hrs away. In my first cruise I took a shuttle from a local hotel and noticed how crowded the terminal was at 1045am. Your photos suggest it being ridiculously empty and smooth! Is the arrival right after 10 am key to that. maybe that shuttle took a very different route and that traffic doesn’t apply to car arrivals. My check in is in the 11-115 window. Suggested arrival time to park car to get in smoothly? I assume there are signs to the Disney terminal? Coming from the north. Thank you!!!

September 30, 2018 at 7:30 am

Hi Sandra! I don’t think the shuttle buses enter the port a different way, but I’m not 100% sure. I think most people like to arrive right at 10:30 (when the port officially opens) so 10:30-11:30 seems to be the busiest time. If you want to guarantee that you avoid the crowds, I suggest pulling up at 12:00 or later. The initial rush has passed and there will be no crowds or lines, and you can walk right onto the ship after you check in. If boarding the ship ASAP is a priority for you, I suggest pulling up to the port about 10:00-10:15. But, if you get there too early, they won’t let you in/will turn you away and you will have to drive around and try again a few minutes later. I think we got really lucky that we pulled up only moments after they started allowing cars in. But, even though we were able to park immediately, we had to wait in a very long line to get into the building and go through security. So like I said, if you really don’t want any lines, wait until 12:00 or later.

June 11, 2019 at 5:51 pm

This is very helpful. I would be curious – when all is said and done- would you park again onsite? Or what is your preference based on past experiences?

June 11, 2019 at 11:12 pm

Hi Tracey! I would park again onsite. It does cost more, but to me the convenience is worth it. If you do park offsite, here’s a tip: have the driver drop off everyone else & all the luggage curbside at the terminal before parking the car. The shuttles fill up fast, and it is much easier to get 1 person on the shuttle than a whole family and all their luggage.

This was VERY helpful to our family as our son is in a wheelchair and we were most nervous about how we were going to get him on the ship. Thanks so much for your blog!

Marcia, I’m so glad you found it helpful! I hope you have a wonderful cruise!

November 10, 2019 at 6:15 pm

My husband and i and two of our children and 2 grandchildren and 4 of their friends are staying at Homewood Suites (one mile from the Port). We only have one car (because the others took shuttles from the airport-they same in several days later than we did). So my question is. … can he drop them off with their luggage and then come back and get me and then we go and park??

November 10, 2019 at 8:14 pm

Hi Debbie! Yes, that should work out just fine. He can drop off the others with their luggage, go back to the hotel to get you, then go back to the terminal and park. The others may have to wait for you to actually check in at the counter if any of them are in your room, but if it is just you and your husband in a room, then they can even check in while waiting for you to get there. Then, once you get there and check in, you can all board together.

Look no further for comprehensive information on everything you need to know about the terminal, parking, how to get there, and more. Join me as we embark on a journey filled with excitement, discovery, and a little bit of Pixie Dust!

Did you know?

Disney Cruise Line Terminal at Port Canaveral with the Disney Wish in the back

Port Canaveral is situated in Cape Canaveral, Florida, serving as Disney's home port. It stands as one of the largest cruise terminals in the US and ranks as the third busiest cruise port globally. During the first half of 2024, the Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal will host two Disney Cruise Ships: the Disney Fantasy and the newly unveiled Disney Wish. Look for your Disney ship at Terminal Building 8.

Port Address

Address: 9155 Charles M. Rowland Dr. Port Canaveral, FL 32920

The DIsney Wish from the highway on the way to the DCL port

Approximate driving times (without traffic and with tolls) to Port Canaveral:

- 45 minutes from orlando international airport,    - 50 minutes from melbourne international airport,    - 60 minutes from walt disney world resort, parking operated by the port canaveral port authority is available adjacent to the cruise terminal. all parking facilities are convenient, secure, and patrolled 24 hours a day. the parking garage opens at 10:15 am., parking is $17.00 per day plus tax for vehicles & rvs, including day of arrival and day of departure. for instance, if you have a 3-night sailing, you will be charged $68 (17 *4) plus tax for parking. rates are subject to change without notice. no cash is accepted - you pay using a major credit card company (i.e., american express, visa, mastercard, and discover)..

DLT! standing in the covered walkway on the third floor at the Terminal 8 parking garage with the Disney Wish in the back

When you park, the two most convenient floors are level 1, as this is the ground level, and level 3, which is connected to the covered walkway for the terminal. Level 3 is a great place to park as you do not have to worry about the cars driving up to drop off their luggage and can get a great picture of you and your Disney cruise ship in the background along the covered walkway.

There are other parking options around port canaveral, but they are not tied to the port canaveral port authority and typically require you to take a shuttle to reach the cruise terminal. as such, for easy access to the disney cruise line terminal, parking at the nearby garage is your best bet .

Passenger / Luggage Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Inside the Disney Cruise Line Terminal with a model display of a Disney cruise ship

Upon arrival, before you park your vehicle in the terminal parking garage, you will proceed directly to the Cruise Terminal to drop off passengers and luggage. Porters will assist you with your luggage, and parking personnel will direct drivers to the appropriate parking facility. Tipping porters $1 - $2 per bag is customary.

Upon departure, passengers can retrieve their vehicles and pick up their companions and luggage in front of the terminal entrance, or they can walk with their luggage to their vehicle and depart when ready..

What is a Port Arrival Time?

When completing your online check-in process, you will select your Port Arrival Time (PAT). Your PAT is when you can enter the Disney Cruise Line terminal for your physical check-in. For example, if your PAT is from 12:45 pm to 1:00 pm, you can enter the terminal at that specified time. If you arrive earlier than your PAT, you will wait until your time comes. If you arrive after your PAT, you will board with the current group. However, you can park in the garage and drop off your luggage before your PAT to be prepared and among the first in line for your boarding group.

Where to stay before or after your cruise?

If you need to stay at a hotel before or after your cruise, there are plenty of options around Port Canaveral and the Orlando area! One of the closest options to Port Canaveral is the beautiful Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront at 5.5 miles away. This hotel is a great option if you want to begin your vacation early or extend it some after the cruise - you will be right on the beach allowing you to relax and lounge by the pool or by the ocean! You can also enjoy the pier, restaurants, and shops nearby in the surfing capital of the state.

Another great hotel option is the hyatt regency orlando international airport, located right inside the orlando airport, offering you the convenience of strolling out of your plane into your hotel room with just a few steps this hotel also offers award-winning dining, personalized service, and an outdoor pool with planes soaring overhead..

Donald's nephews playing baseball in the tennis section of All-Star Sports Resort at Disney

There are various other hotel options in and around Port Canaveral and Orlando Airport. However, my favorite hotel stay for a Disney Cruise out of Port Canaveral is at a Disney hotel! While staying at a Disney resort means you will be a bit farther from Port Canaveral, the magic will begin sooner and/or end later if you stay before and/or after your cruise. Disney offers various hotel types, from value and moderate to deluxe and deluxe villas, allowing you to choose the best option for your budget!

Does Disney offer transportation from the Disney Resorts to the DCL Terminal in Port Canaveral?

Yes, if you decide to stay at a Disney resort before and/or after your cruise, not only will the magic start sooner and/or end later for you. But you also have the opportunity to purchase tickets for DCL transportation to and from the terminal.

Does Disney offer transportation from the Orlando International Airport to the DCL Terminal in Port Canaveral?

Epcot wall art at MCO (Orlando International Airport)

Once again, yes! You can purchase tickets for the DCL transportation service to and from the cruise terminal when arriving at the Orlando International Airport (MCO) and/or staying at the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport.

How do I book the DCL Ground Transportation?

Once you have booked your cruise, navigate to Already Booked > Ground Transportation on the Disney Cruise Line website or add Transportation after logging into your reservation on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. You can also call (800) 951-3532 to add ground transfers in advance, as only a limited number may be available for purchase upon arrival. If you require a one-way DCL transfer, call the number above to get that purchased. Moreover, for 2024, the average per way per person is $45 to use Disney Cruise Line's Ground Transportation. However, the final number will be provided online, through the app, or by phone, and prices are subject to change without notice.

What is there to do in Port Canaveral?

Aerial View of Cocoa Beach with the ocean on top and the sand with beach chairs and umbrellas on the bottom

Port Canaveral is not only a gateway to magical Disney Cruise Line adventures but also a destination filled with exciting attractions. If you are a water enthusiast, look no further than Cocoa Beach, known as the surfing capital of Florida. Whether you are a seasoned surfer or a newbie, the waves beckon for a thrilling experience. For those fascinated by space exploration, the iconic Kennedy Space Center is a must-visit, allowing you to immerse yourself in the history and future of space travel through interactive exhibits and awe-inspiring rocket launches.

Nature lovers can explore the brevard zoo, home to a diverse range of wildlife in carefully crafted habitats. additionally, the merritt island national wildlife refuge offers a serene escape with its untouched landscapes and abundant birdwatching opportunities. this refuge is also home to beautiful creatures like bald eagles, manatees, and alligators. lastly, jetty park beach is a versatile tourist attraction, featuring a beach pavilion, fishing pier, diverse wildlife, and exceptional vantage points for cruise ship and rocket launch viewing..

Bon Voyage!

Parking for your Disney Cruise at Port Canaveral

by Professor Heather | Feb 28, 2020 | News |

Port Canaveral Disney Cruise Line

Port Canaveral is well-known as the Disney Cruise Line’s most popular departure port. With year-round sailings to destinations like the Bahamas and relative closeness to Walt Disney World, it’s not hard to see why. While there are many ways to get to Port Canaveral from Central Florida airports and Walt Disney World, many guests choose to drive and park their car at the port. Luckily Port Canaveral has convenient parking steps away from the Disney Cruise Line terminal.

Port Canaveral Disney Cruise Line

Port Canaveral’s official parking consists of large covered decks that are patrolled 24 hours a day. These decks are conveniently located right next to the terminals. This location gives guests the ability to access their terminal without the need for a shuttle transfer. Garages open at 9:45 AM.

Parking currently runs $17.00 per day (plus tax) for vehicles and RVs, including the day of arrival and day of departure. Buses and oversized vehicles will be charged an extra fee. Here’s what to expect for common cruise lengths:

  • 3-Night Cruise: $68
  • 4-Night Cruise: $85
  • 5-Night Cruise: $102
  • 7-Night Cruise: $136 *Prices excluding tax. Rates subject to change without notice .

There is also the option to upgrade to Preferred Parking for an additional fee of $20. This is a small uncovered lot closer to the terminal. Guests can pay for their parking with American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards only. Payment cannot be submitted before arrival and will be collected by parking attendants or automated machines as you enter the lot. All booths are automated except for Booth 1 which will have an attendant present.

Guests with disabilities can use one of the designated disabled parking spaces, and the parking fee is waived for vehicles transporting certain persons who have disabilities that:

  • Have special equipment, such as ramps, lifts, foot or hand controls for use by a disabled person  OR
  • Display a Florida Toll Exemption Permit as explained in s. 316.1964, Florida Statutes OR
  • Display a Florida Disabled Veteran (DV) license plate issued under s. 320.084; s. 320.0842; or s. 320.0845, Florida Statutes.

Disney Cruise Line

Finding Port Canaveral’s parking is a relatively easy process thanks to clear road signs. The port can be reached from Walt Disney World in roughly 90 minutes, and about an hour from Orlando International Airport.

Disney Cruise Line – Terminal 8 Address

9155 Charles M. Rowland Dr. Port Canaveral, FL 32920

Upon arrival, guests will be directed to drive directly to their terminal where luggage and passengers can be dropped off at a curbside check-in area. Porters are available to assist with luggage, and parking attendants will direct the vehicle’s driver to the correct parking area.

After disembarking the ship at the end of the cruise, guests can take all luggage and passengers straight to their car. The driver also has the option of collecting the car and then picking up passengers and luggage at the curbside area where they were dropped off.

Guide to Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal Parking

The traveler's guide to port canaveral cruise terminal parking.

Port Canaveral is a popular spot. Cape Canaveral is home to the Kennedy Space Center and beautiful beaches, and it takes second place in the list of busiest cruise ports .

Did you know? After the Port of Miami, we see more cruise passengers than anywhere else in the whole world ( over 4 million every year )!

But being one of the busiest ports also means that we need some place to put all of those traveling cars throughout the year.

That’s where our local Port Canaveral cruise parking facilities come in.

At Port Canaveral Parking , we offer the best in  off-site  parking for parties hoping to save while they sail. With secure parking and complimentary shuttles for your cruise vacation, it’s easy to save money while getting the best  off-site  cruise parking.

But what about on-site options ? Today we’re going to be going over the pros and cons of parking at the cruise ship terminal in our guide to on-site parking at Port Canaveral.

Navigating Port Canaveral Cruise Terminals

Our six cruise terminals are 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, and 10. Cruise Terminal A is home to terminals 5, 6, 8, and 10, while 1 and 3 are located in Cruise Terminal B . The split can be a little confusing for travelers, especially if you can’t remember where the cruise lines are docking at.

Cruise Terminal B is where you can also go for a bite to eat, to see the port at the Exploration Tower, or check out CT-3, our brand-new multi-million dollar spot for the largest ships. Terminal A is less exciting, but it hosts more ships as well as the cargo piers.

Official Port Canaveral Parking

Every cruise terminal has it’s own official parking facility (although some terminals share parking spots). The port runs these locations, which include covered garage parking as well as uncovered parking lots located near the terminal entrance.

The parking spots are first-come, first-served , meaning there’s no reservations and no pre-pay. You can also splurge and pay a little extra for “preferred parking”, which some terminals offer for those who want to park even closer to the ship.

While convenient, we do have some bad news: it’s $17.00 per day for the basic parking at the port. That means that for a four-night cruise, you’ll be paying $85 in parking fees alone.

Here’s a short breakdown of the pros and cons of on-site port parking.

Pros of parking at the ship

  • Spots are right at the ship . It’s true, you wouldn’t be able to park closer to the ship unless they let you bring your car on the boat.
  • Many say it’s more convenient. When you embark and disembark, you never have to worry about getting to your car.
  • It’s pretty easy. Unlike other parking facilities, you only get one option. You won’t have to choose between locations. At the port, you get what you get.
  • The port terminals offer free cruise parking for vehicles that need parking options for disabled passengers with special equipment, for those with a Florida Toll Exemption Permit, and for those who have a Florida Disabled Veteran license plate. However, this is the only free parking option from the Canaveral Port Authority.

Cons of Parking at the Cruise Port

  • Being next to the cruise ships is great – but the covered parking lot is not just a short walk from the ship. There’s no free shuttle service, so you’ll be toting your stuff from the luggage drop-off on debarkation day.
  • There are no reservations . If the cruise parking lots are full for your cruise line, you’ll have to find other arrangements.
  • Prices are subject to change , according to the website for the Port Canaveral terminals. While the base price is $17 per day, you may end up paying even more for your cruise parking.
  • Traffic can be terrible, congested, and complicated for visitors. If you’re driving yourself, be prepared for wrong turns and sitting in Port Canaveral traffic.

Alternate Port Canaveral Parking options

When it comes to finding places to park, Port Canaveral has other parking deals for your cruise adventure.

We always recommend that parties park off-site. Not only do you get access to free shuttles that drop you off right at the cruise port, many places (like Port Canaveral Parking) offer security and top-notch customer service that doesn’t come with a sky-high price tag.

All of our cruise packages for parking involve no transportation fees (your shuttle ride is complimentary!) and parking rates that are nearly half of the terminal parking.

We go to all Port Canaveral cruise lines, including Disney, Royal Caribbean International, MSC Cruises, Norwegian, and Carnival. Make same-day reservations or plan months ahead to guarantee your Port Canaveral parking spot!

Port Canaveral Hotel Cruise PArking

If you’re staying in Cocoa Beach, there are some locations that offer Port Canaveral cruise parking. The Holiday Inn Express, Country Inn, Radisson Resort, and other hotels will let you leave your vehicle during your vacation.

However, these packages are often much more expensive than leaving your car at a cruisetime parking facility. If you’re cruising on a budget or want to save up for some souvenirs, hotel parking is NOT the way to go.

If you are taking a Disney Cruise more than likely it will be out of Port Canaveral. You might find the entire Disney Cruise Port Canaveral boarding process a bit overwhelming if you haven’t been to the terminal before.

There are a lot of lines, and a ton of people, and the last thing you want to do is to be stressed out as you are embarking on your magical vacation because you don’t know what to expect.

Being prepared is one way to make the Disney Cruise boarding process a little easier.

If you are planning on parking your car at Port Canaveral , you want to make sure that you are prepared for the cost and factor that into your cruise budget.

Cost is on average $17 a vehicle per day.

You do not need to pay in advance of your trip, just pay to park at the cruise terminal’s designated parking area.

If you don’t want to pay the hefty fee for Port Canaveral Parking another option is to park off-site and be shuttled to Port Canaveral.

This is a much less expensive method and the one we personally use every time we cruise out of Port Canaveral.

You can park your car at ParkPort Canaveral , located at 500 Thurm Boulevard, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920.

If you park for the duration of your cruise, you can receive shuttle service to Port Canaveral and pay per day.

Once you park or are transported to the Cruise terminal, you will unload your luggage and hand it over (if you choose) to a luggage attendant.

When you received your cruise documents, you would have been given paper luggage tags for your belongings.

Be sure to tag each of your bags and make sure that your cabin number is visible.

Make sure all your bags are securely fastened so the contents don’t fall out.

Want to bring your own alcohol on board?

You can bring alcohol with you, but be sure you follow the Disney Cruise line Alcohol policy . If you don’t, you might be wasting money having it thrown away before you even get to enjoy it.

Can you carry your luggage on board?

Yes, you may carry your own bags onto the ship.

We found that if you are arriving after 1:30 pm you are better off bringing your luggage on board with you.

This way, you can go straight to your room with your bags rather than waiting (sometimes hours) for your bags to arrive.

There are times when bags don’t arrive until close to 5 pm.

If it is after 1:30, you can go straight to your room and get your key to the world card. These cards will be found on the Fish Extender beside the door.

If not, you can go straight to Cabanas for the lunch buffet or spend time at the pool.  There is dining available poolside as well.

If you haven’t already changed into your swimsuit, you can change in the bathrooms near the pool.

Sail Away Party on Disney Cruise

Sail Away Party

Later in the day (usually around 4 pm), there will be a Sailing Away Party and you will want to make sure that you attend!

Overall, the Disney Cruise Port Canaveral terminal boarding process is pretty basic, but when you walk in, you can very easily get lost in all the lines.

I hope these little pointers help to make your transition from terminal to ship a little easier!

Need a Place to Stay in Port Canaveral Before Your Disney Cruise?

Those looking for a hotel to stay the night before (or after) your cruise, consider the Radisson in Cape Canaveral .

Not only is it a nice hotel that is close to the port, but it also has on-site cruise parking through ParkPort Canaveral mentioned above!

You can book a Cruise package where you can stay at the hotel and then leave your car during the cruise (and get a shuttle to Port Canaveral).

Are the ID bands used on the ship the Magic Bands? We are doing land and sea so we have ordered customized Magic Bands. I am just unsure if they will be used both places or just on land.

Popular cruise lines like Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International, Carnival Cruise Line, and Norwegian Cruise Line all sail out of this popular port.

Port Canaveral Parking Costs

The current rate for parking at Port Canaveral is $17.00/Day .  Remember that this includes your day of departure and day of arrival.  So a 7-day cruise out of Canaveral will set you back $119.

One of the main benefits of parking at Port Canaveral and not off-site is that the parking facilities are secure and patrolled 24 hours a day.  And of course, there is the convenience of being able to walk straight from your vehicle to the ship without the need for a transfer.

It’s stress free, aside from the cost that is.  If you’d like a cheaper option and don’t mind an extra trip, keep reading.

The above image from the Port Canaveral website gives a breakdown of the parking cost depending on the duration of your cruise.

Parking is free for the disabled if the vehicle is equipped with things like ramps, lifts, etc.  If you have a Florida Toll Exemption permit parking is also free at the port.

Other Parking Options at Port Canaveral (Offsite)

While parking at Port Canaveral can be the safest and easiest way to leave your car behind while you enjoy your cruise, there are more inexpensive options available.  And they are well worth a look.

Let’s take a look at a few offsite parking services for Port Canaveral:

Details for these services should be verified by calling or visiting the appropriate websites.

  • 528 Port Parking – This gated facility offers shuttles to and from the cruise port every 30 minutes.  Prices start at $5.95 per day (plus a port access fee of $5.00) for a roundtrip shuttle while your car is monitored in a secure facility.  The location is about 10 miles from the cruise port.
  • Park N Cruise – Just 2.7 miles from the cruise terminal Park N Cruise runs shuttles every 15 minutes.  The cost is $10.95/day and the shuttles themselves are complimentary.   24/7 security surveillance, stadium lighting, and an 8-foot fence help protect your vehicle during your cruise.  The parking business is owned by a former police officer.
  • Canaveral Cruise Parking  – This shuttle and cruise parking service is for up to 2 passengers only and is not for Disney cruises.  Shuttles run every 20-25 minutes.  The facility is only 2 miles from the port and is one of the newest offsite parking services for Port Canaveral.  Parking costs $7.95/day.
  • Park Port Canaveral – Advertised as Port Canaveral’s closest overnight cruise parking service, Park Port Canaveral is just 1.5 miles away and costs $10.95/day.  It is wheelchair friendly as well.
  • Cruisetime Parking & Shuttle – A dedicated Port Canaveral cruise ship parking lot service that costs $8/day and includes complimentary shuttles to and from the terminal.  Maximum of 4 people per vehicle.  Parking lot is about 8 miles from the port.

Want something a little more upscale?

How about some valet service?  Port Canaveral Valet will not only drive you own vehicle to the cruise terminal for you, but they will also take care of any oil changes and maintenance on your car while you’re on your cruise.

When you return to port your vehicle will be fueled up and newly washed.  This service also includes admission to the Parker Brothers Concepts Museum.  The cost for this service starts at $189.

Port Canaveral Cruise Parking for Disabled Passengers

The official Port Canaveral cruise parking area is well suited for the disabled.  It is both wheelchair-friendly and convenient, especially compared to off-site options.

There are plenty of parking spaces for the disabled just steps away from the cruise terminal.

There is a daily fee for parking at Port Canaveral but it will be waived for those who meet the following criterion:

  • Cruise passengers with vehicles equipped with ramps, lifts, foot or hand controls specifically for disabled users
  • Passengers in vehicles that display a valid Florida Toll Exemption Permit as per Florida statute 316.1964
  • Passengers displaying a Florida Disabled Veteran license plate on their vehicles

Arriving at Port Canaveral at the Right Terminal

port canaveral cruise parking

Be sure to follow the signs as you get close to the Port Canaveral cruise parking area.  There can be up to 6 ships in port at the same time and your GPS may not know exactly which terminal you need for the right ship.

Your ship will be berthed either on the north or south side of the harbor.  The electronic signs will tell you where to go for your specific ship and which exit to take.

There are 7 cruise terminals at this port, and you can use the below as a general rule of thumb for where your ship will be berthed.  Still follow the signs for when the below has changed.

  • Terminal 1: Used by Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line
  • Terminal 6 and 10: Used by Carnival Cruise Line
  • Terminal 8: Used by Disney Cruise Line

Disney also has a dedicated terminal , used exclusively for their ships.  Disney offers shuttle services to and from the airport as part of the cruise package deal.  These buses are impossible to miss as soon as you walk out of the baggage claim at Orlando International Airport.

Carnival Cruise Line usually has the most ships docked at the Port Canaveral cruise terminals.

When should I arrive at Port Canaveral parking lot for my cruise?

The port is busiest between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm so some travelers try to avoid these times.  That being said, check with your cruise line because some bookings state at which time you should arrive to spread out the arrivals of passengers and make the boarding process as seamless as possible.  If you arrive too early you may be told to wait.

Which airport do I fly into for a cruise out of Port Canaveral?

This was my first question when I booked a cruise out of Port Canaveral.   There simply isn’t a major airport conveniently located near the port.  So which airport do I fly into, and how do I get to the port from there?

There are 5 airports to choose from that are within about an hour drive of the port.  You can see them in the image below to get an idea of their proximity.

airports near port canaveral cruise port

The most commonly used airport for cruises is Orlando International Airport (MCO) which is a 45-minute drive from the port.  The advantage here is that there are many shuttle services available.

Unlike many cruise ports, Port Canaveral does not have an airport within a short drive.  So flights to the Orlando area will involve a shuttle service of some kind.

We recently decided to book a shuttle transfer through Go Port Canaveral , and it made the process simple and straightforward.  For a shuttle bus for two adults from the airport to the cruise port and back again was around $60.

Where to Book Your Pre-cruise Hotel

If you plan on booking a pre-cruise hotel you basically have two options.  Either stay near the airport or near the cruise port.   This decision may depend on when your flight comes in, but some prefer to be as close to Port Canaveral as possible in the morning to make for a lighter travel day.

Note: Some shuttle services from the airport to Port Canaveral only operate until the afternoon, so if your flight is after 6pm you would have to wait until the next day to utilize these services.  In this case, I would recommend someone with a late flight find a hotel near the Orlando airport.

Next, let’s check out some hotels near the airport and near the cruise port …

View Cruise Deals out of Port Canaveral

Hotels Near Orlando International Airport

One advantage of flying to MCO for a Port Canaveral cruise is the abundance of hotels offering free shuttle services to and from the airport.

We stayed at a Hampton Inn which provided free shuttle service to the hotel and was a little over a mile away.

But while we were waiting for our bus to pick us up we saw shuttles for La Quinta, Holiday Inn Express, Ramada, Marriott, Country Inn and Suites,  Double Tree, and a myriad of others.  Just remember to tip your driver if you choose one of these free shuttle services.

What is the closest hotel to the airport?  Hyatt Regency is right inside the airport (literally inside) so the only shuttle service required is your two legs.  It’s a very convenient option for those wanting to simplify things.  Just stay at the Hyatt and take the shuttle straight to the port in the morning.

Hotels Near Port Canaveral

If you plan on driving to the port the night before your cruise, I highly recommend booking a cruise near the port that offers “park and cruise” packages.  Some will even offer a “fly, snooze, park, and cruise” packages so you can book it all through the hotel.

There are that have received good ratings from previous guests.

Hotels with Free Cruise Parking for Port Canaveral

There are some hotels near Port Canaveral that will let you park your car in their parking lot for free for the duration of your cruise.  Just make sure you stay a night or 2 in their hotel.

Here are some hotels that offer free cruise parking.  Most of these hotels have packages that include your room, parking and shuttle for one low price.

  • Quality Inn Kennedy Space Center – An affordable hotel right near the beach and Kennedy Space Center.  Package includes parking and shuttle runs to the port.
  • Budget Inn Cocoa – 15 minutes from the cruise port, this hotel offers free parking but does charge for shuttle runs.  This is definitely a budget pick and reviews are mixed.
  • La Quinta Inn & Suites Oceanfront – This hotel provides free parking as long as your room has been booked at the standard rate.  A $7 shuttle will take you to and from the port.
  • International Palms Cocoa Beach – A large hotel on the oceanfront.  You can get free parking and a cruise port shuttle with your stay.
  • Ramada Inn Titusville – This hotel offers park and cruise packages along with free WiFi and a hot breakfast.  The Ramada is right off I-95 for those driving down for their cruise.
  • Homewood Suites Cape Canaveral – Just 1 mile from Port Canaveral this is a popular choice for cruisers.  Packages are available that include your room, parking, and convenient shuttles to the port.
  • Best Western Cocoa Beach – An oceanfront hotel this is one of the closest hotels to Port Canaveral.   The hotel offers Stay and Cruise deals that will include parking and a shuttle to and from the port.  Only 1 night stay is required.
  • Holiday Inn Express and Suits Cocoa Beach – Get a great hot breakfast and free parking and shuttle runs to Port Canaveral along with your stay.

Let’s simplify your Port Canaveral cruise experience

If all the above sounds a bit too complicated, let’s make it simple.

You booked a cruise out of Port Canaveral.  Check.

Now you just need to fly to Orlando, get a hotel, book a 45-minute shuttle to the cruise port, and book a shuttle for the way back to the airport, right?

That’s where Go Port Canaveral comes in.  With snooze and cruise packages you can get all that booked under one roof.

We just used this service for a cruise out of Port Canaveral and found the entire process very simple.   We were picked up from Orlando International Airport at 10am at the designated zone.  They run buses from 10am until the afternoon.  The 45-50 minute bus ride was a great time to talk with fellow-passengers and just relax.

We recommend you tip the driver when you arrive at the port, especially if you have some luggage carted below the bus.

Being picked up from the port after the cruise was super convenient as well.  Just find the person with the red Go Canaveral shirts and they will find your name listed, give you a number, and off you go.

To Sum it All Up

Port Canaveral is not the most convenient cruise port to sail out of if you’re not from the area (I still love sailing out of Cape Canaveral by the way).  But with these tips above it should make the process a lot easier.  Just do all the prep-work ahead of time so you don’t have to worry about it when you get into “cruise mode”.

If the Port Canaveral cruise parking price is too high for your liking, there are many park and cruise options in the area.  Just remember that you will still need to take a shuttle service to the port from the parking area (usually provided but a tip is customary), and the parking area may not be as secure as the port.

If you’re wondering what other ships are sailing out of Port Canaveral on your cruise dates you can check out the port’s calendar here .

Parking at Port Canaveral and the Cheaper Alternatives

When driving to Port Canaveral you have a few parking options to pick from. The easiest and most convenient option is parking at Port Canaveral’s Cruise Terminal 8, which is better known as the Disney Cruise Terminal.

Port Canaveral Parking Garage Panorama

Port Canaveral offers a gated and well-lit parking facility within steps of Disney’s cruise terminal. The parking facilities are patrolled around the clock keeping your vehicle safe, while you are enjoying your time at sea. As of June 2016 , parking is $16 per day ($28 for vehicles over 20ft). However, this comes at a price and it should be noted you are charged per day you car is in the parking lot. For example for a 3-night cruise you will pay for 4 days of parking. Please keep in mind the cost can change at anytime. The cost per cruise length is as follows:

  • 3-day $64 ($112)
  • 4-day $80 ($140)
  • 5-day $96 ($168)
  • 7-day $128 ($224)
  • Preferred Parking Upgrade – $20 for length of stay. **(vehicles over 20 feet) **Accepted forms of payment: Cash, Visa, MasterCard or Traveler’s checks issued in U.S. dollars

Port Canaveral also offers “ Preferred Parking ” at the terminal. What does preferred parking provide for the extra $20? Basically, not much besides parking on the same side of the street as the terminal. Ok, it is much closer to the terminal entrance, but in my opinion, save the $20 for a few drinks of the day!

Port Canaveral offers guests to pre-pay for parking . I you do not pre-pay online you will be required to pay for parking before being granted access to the parking garage.

Port Canaveral Parking Map - Cruise Terminal 8 - Disney

One of the more popular alternate parking options around the port are independent remote parking lots such as Park “N Cruise and Cruise Parking of Port Canaveral .  Both run a free shuttle between the port and their remote parking facilities. Both of these options will end up saving you nearly half the price of parking at Port Canaveral. Check the respective websites for current pricing. We’ve discussed this option for our last cruise to save some money, but that was about it.

Finally, there are a handful of hotels like the Radisson and Country Inn & Suites in the port area that offer free shuttle service when you stay the night before your cruise.

I have yet to try parking anywhere other than the Port primarily because of the shear convenience.  I cannot even park this close at my local mall! Needless to say, for the time being this is our preferred way of parking at Port Canaveral. We can park, roll our luggage to the baggage drop off, and be in the terminal in just a few minutes. Port Canaveral calls this “ Celebrity parking ” which I can attest to that it is truly a stress free experience. Parking this close eliminates the need to wait for a shuttle, giving us more time onboard enjoying the ship the first day. Then, on disembarkation day knowing that once we exit customs we will be on the road and headed home in just a few minutes puts a smile on my face.

Click over to this article to learn more on what to expect when arriving at Port Canaveral. Where do you like to park when you drive to the port?

FOR THE RECORD: We have not used alternative parking services around Port Canaveral. There is one particular service that is leveraging the comments below as customer reviews via a link on their own website. Additionally, we cannot verify the authenticity of the “reviews” below. We do not endorse any parking solution, nor do we have any financial relationship at this time with any service.

This is not so bad. I’d like to find a cheaper option but I guess this is more convenient for me and my car as well. Other options might put my car at risk for its safety and that it might be stressful and tiring for me. I would definitely go for this one to save me from worries when I am away.

Cruise Parking of Port Canaveral is now offering parking for $4.99/Day with FREE wheel chair assessable Shuttle! http://CruiseParkingofPortCanaveral.com

' src=

Larry thank you for the information about the parking at cruise parking. I just want to let you know it is now $7.99 .

' src=

And now $9.95/day

' src=

Larry, is this a temporary rate or is this a current promotion?

' src=

Scott, the rate of $4.99/day and FREE wheel chair accessible shuttle is the standard for Cruise Parking of Port Canaveral. No gimmicks.

' src=

I just tried to reserve parking and it was 6.99 a day, someone said that seniors could get 4.99 a day but i didn’t see anywhere to get this discount

Tina, I just sent Cruise Parking an email to clarify the previous comment left by Larry in March.

Tina, I received a reply and the $4.99 rates was a promotion.

' src=

Cruise Parking of Port Canaveral is showing $3.95 a day if you prepay on their website. A dollar more each day if you wait until you get there…

' src=

yep $3.95 per day when reserved online..that is a great price and the reviews sound pretty good. Our cruise is 5 days the end of Sept and we are thinking about this option. Also looking into hotels that have special rates if ee decide to sleep thir the night before the cruise and park there for theduration of the cruise. Will let you all know when we make up our minds.

' src=

I can’t find this website, can someone post the link, please

' src=

http://www.parkportcanaveral.com/ We booked and prepaid a month in advance. We did not arrive to the parking lot late, we got there around 11:30 am. When we got to the fenced in lot, we were told that the lot was full and that we would have to park across the street, behind the Raddisson Hotel. They had our reservation in their system and everything went smoothly, but the overflow parking at the Raddisson is NOT fenced in! We booked and paid for “100% Security Fenced Lot”, as stated all over their website. The lot we parked in was not gated or fenced at all, and I’m sure it’s not “24/7 Patrolled Security!” We did not get what we paid for. I might have been OK with it if they offered a discount, but they didn’t offer or say anything about not delivering the product described on their website. The fenced lot looked nice, but our prepaid reservation did not allow us to park there. Beware, you may not get anything like what they promise on their website!

' src=

Just checked that website and it states $7.99 per day. How do I book it for $3.95? Thanks

' src=

We had a GREAT experience with Park N Cruise last year when we cruised for the first time. It’s a family-run business with nice people and the gates/fence surrounding it made us feel very secure leaving our car there (the lot itself isn’t covered). The shuttle service was reliable and it took only minutes to get to the Port. We’d never cruised before and were just planning to do Port parking, which I’m sure is great, too, but a friend recommended this lot to us and we’re so glad since it saved us over half of what we would’ve paid otherwise. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone :).

http://parkcruise.com/default.aspx

P.S. I forgot to mention… I found this website when we were getting ready for our cruise last year. A tropical storm was brewing and we weren’t sure how it would affect our cruise, and this site had the best updates on the weather. So, thank you!

' src=

I can’t recommend Park N Cruise enough. They were very helpful and friendly making the whole process very easy. The bonus of the transfer from their lot to the cruise terminal really helps and you couldn’t ask for more at better value. We’ll be using again this Oct and recommending to friends. Lisa – UK

We used Park N Cruise last October and we loved it! Great value and great experience! The staff were friendly and super helpful with luggage transport. They make parking convenient and drop you off right at the doors! Our vehicle was safe while we were gone and no waiting in line to get out of the parking lot to head back home! We will be parking with Park N Cruise again in November!

Thanks for your replies. We parked there also and felt it was a good deal and safe. Would recommend it.

Be VERY WARY of the Raddisson Park & Port service picking you up when you return from your Disney cruise. About 50 people with small children waited TWO HOURS in the hot sun for a shuttle to pick us up. Myself and several other mothers began calling almost as soon as we were at our designated area. The number we called on our return ticket would ring and ring and ring before someone would pick up and then hang up on us. That’s when I began calling the Raddison directly. First I spoke with someone in reservations, who told me the shuttles were busy taking people to the cruise line. Then I began calling the front desk. I checked my phone, I called them over 10 times (not including all the hang ups from the first number) they blamed everything from Disney telling them everyone was gone and the port was clear-what a joke! How are we gone if you haven’t picked us up!-to their drivers not knowing the route!!! It wasn’t until a DISNEY official called them that they finally sent over one tiny shuttle for well over 50 people, who by this time had been waiting in the hot sun with small children for TWO HOURS! The worst part is they had to leave a family behind who had a wheel chair passenger because the shuttle they sent wasn’t equipped! Who knows if they were ever picked up! Sure they refunded our money, but I’d like to know how something like this happens HOW DO YOU STRAND 50+ PEOPLE FOR OVER TWO HOURS AND REFUSE TO PICK THEM UP!!!???? We will never trust this service again.

** Another update on the Radisson Park & Port. I was trying to make a reservation this morning. First I was put on hold for a very long time and I hung up. I’ve called back 3 times now and it goes straight to voice mail. The recording states they are open but, clearly too busy to answer the phone. If you can’t even make a reservation!!…. I am going with park n cruise ($8.99/day) or Cruise parking of Port Canaveral (also $8.99/day). We will use Park n Cruise based on all the good feed back here. Glad I found this blog before making my final reservation!! Thanks for all the good advice!

' src=

Go Port Canaveral has 5.95 per day parking.

I also was just told that you get free cruise parking if you book a hotel with them

' src=

Just spoke to Kate at Park n Cruise. We had a few questions before making a reservation for our upcoming Fantasy cruise in August. During the conversation she advised they are currently offering a $7.99 per day parking rate for all advanced Disney reservations made in the month of June. We’ve had a great experience with this company in the past…happy to share this news.

' src=

Well just booked at parkncruise, 5.99pr dy, I think the rates change like the rates of cruises change. Used to park at cruise parking on us1 but the construction there made them fold their business, was sorry to see them go .Lucky for us our favorite gal (JILL) did move over to parkncruise we look forward to seeing her every time we cruise, hope she is still there under new management we have used parkncruise before waited like you do in Disneyland, like any other theme park line, but the people were nice, even though there is confusion sometimes, ( we still use them.) looking forward to seeing the new shuttles, one experience with the old ones, was defective air conditioner, bad day that was, we figured out you never sit in the back, side seats get the best air flow. Sailing sept 7th Enchantment of the seas. Enjoy your vacations everyone!!!!!! Bonnie Kephart -Al Dibartholomeo

Booked a package through Go Port Canaveral https://www.goportcanaveral.com/park-cruise-package.html was definitely pleased by the service and paid just about the same as i would have with just parking. I’d recommend getting a little more bang for your buck by getting a park and cruise package rather then just a parking deal.

' src=

They’ve actually got free cruise parking now. Sorta free, but up to 15 days for only $10 per person is fantastic. Let me get the link for ya. https://www.goportcanaveral.com/services/cruise-parking.php

' src=

Did you actually use this free parking? I saw it also and I’m thinking it’s some kind of scam.

' src=

lots of honor in Cocoa has a good deal. 6 bucks a day or so. They do shuttles to the port too. I’ll link to their site in a bit. I know the owner, he’s a veteran that supports the homes for our troops charity.

the link to the website is: http://lotsofhonor.com/ they are pretty cheap, and even wash your car for you for an extra 15 bucks or so.

' src=

I just checked that the hotels listed above do not offer free shuttle service it’s $12 round trip per person or they do offer packages for discount if you stay with them. But again it is not free.

' src=

I just got Cruise Parking and Transfers for one low price of $7 per person. It was cheaper than any other deals I have seen.

Is there handicapped parking at the port canveral parking

' src=

We have used Park N Cruise twice now. Great experience both times. We paid extra for valet and our van was right up front waiting for us. Totally recommend. Just a quick shuttle ride over to the port.

' src=

We parked at the “preferred” parking lot and paid $88 thinking it was secure 24/7 but it is NOT!!! When I returned from our cruise, the car had been broken into, and my entire tank of gas was siphoned dry!

Port Canaveral cruises: A guide to cruising from the Orlando area

S ailing out of Port Canaveral might not be as picturesque as cruising from PortMiami , but don't underestimate the experience. Lucky passengers might witness a rocket launch from the neighboring NASA complex or see dolphins playing in the wake as the ships sail past the shoreline of Jetty Park on the way out to sea.

And while you might be more familiar with the Miami and Fort Lauderdale departure ports, you are as likely to sail from the Orlando-area, Central Florida port as you are from one of the East Coast ports. In 2023, the bustling port brought in 6.8 million cruise passengers , served as the home port for 13 ships and scheduled 906 ship calls.

From Port Canaveral, you can sail to the Bahamas , the Caribbean , Bermuda and even across the Atlantic on cruises of two to 14 nights. Seven major cruise lines currently sail from Port Canaveral: Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises and MSC Cruises.

The port is (or soon will be) home to some of the newest and most popular cruise ships, including Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas and new Utopia of the Seas and Disney Cruise Line's Disney Wish and new Disney Treasure .

Getting to the port is easy as it's accessible from Interstate 95 and close to three airports — though it's nearly an hour's drive from Orlando International Airport (MCO) . Whether you want to overnight by the airport or close to the port, you will find a range of hotels to suit every budget and loyalty program affiliation.

Airports near Port Canaveral cruise port

Three airports serve the Port Canaveral cruise port. The most popular is Orlando International Airport (MCO), which is about 50 minutes away. Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB) is also about 50 minutes away, and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) is about an hour from the port.

Most major airlines, including Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, American Airlines, Air Canada, British Airways, Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines, fly into MCO.

If you're flying into MLB, current carriers include Allegiant Air, American and Delta.

At SFB, the main option is Allegiant.

Depending on which airport you're flying into and which airline you've booked, you might be able to cut costs with companion passes. Southwest offers this deal to travelers who earn 135,000 qualifying points or take 100 qualifying one-way flights in a calendar year. Those traveling with Delta can also get a companion ticket with a few of the Delta and American Express cobranded credit cards .

Because no one likes waiting around in a chaotic airport terminal after a cruise, you might want to bring a credit card that provides you with lounge access. MCO offers seven different lounges, including a Priority Pass lounge called Club MCO. Priority Pass membership starts at $99, or you can get access as a travel perk from a credit card such as the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card or the Chase Sapphire Reserve® .

American Airlines passengers can access The Admirals Club with a Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® (see rates and fees ), which includes a complimentary Admirals Club lounge pass. The Delta Sky Club is open to travelers with paid lounge access via a subscription or one-time paid visit, or those who have select Delta-branded American Express cards.

How to get to the Port Canaveral cruise port

Whether you're headed straight from the airport or from a pre-cruise hotel, you have several options on how to get to the Port Canaveral cruise port. If you are headed straight to Port Canaveral from the airport, be sure to give yourself at least three hours. Your plane should land no later than 10 a.m. to ensure you can claim any luggage, get your ride and get to the port before the boarding time ends in the afternoon without feeling rushed and flustered.

Cruise line transfers

Many cruise lines that sail from Port Canaveral offer transfer services from the airport or a hotel directly to the terminal. Talk to your travel agent to be sure it's part of your overall travel package, and if it's not, ask if you can buy the transfers individually.

For example, Disney Cruise Line can offer ground transportation from local airports to the embarkation port and back to the airport when the cruise is over. The transfer is a per-person flat fee that must be added to your cruise reservation in advance through the Disney Cruise Line app. The round-trip cost is $90 per person. If you only need one-way service, you have to call Disney Cruise Line to reserve.

Related: Should I book my flight through my cruise line?

Independent airport shuttles

Cruisers looking for a transfer to and from the airport, hotel or cruise terminal can do so with independent airport shuttles. Consider companies like Airport Canaveral , where shared shuttle rides in a minibus start at $20 per person and a private van starts at $125 a ride for up to five people. If you need more room for larger parties and still want a private ride, you can rent a private Sprinter shuttle starting at $220. Airport Canaveral currently serves MCO and MLB.

Prices for these services are one-way.

You'll want to consider a few criteria when deciding between a cruise transfer or an independent shuttle. The first is how big your party is. Cruise-branded transfers are often per-person costs, while individual transfers are one price for a set amount of customers.

For example, if four people are taking a Disney cruise, the total cost for a cruise-run transfer would be $360 for round-trip service from the airport to the terminal and back to the airport at the end of your trip. For the same group, Airport Canaveral can supply a private van for $300 round-trip (the price for up to five people).

It often makes more financial sense for solo travelers or small groups of two or three to take a cruise line transfer, but larger groups can save money with independent transfers.

Beyond party size and total cost, consider time and accessibility. On a cruise-run transfer, you might have to wait for an entire busload of guests to arrive and get loaded onto the bus before departing the airport. With a private transfer, you can leave when you're ready and not have to wait for anyone else.

Additionally, most of the cruise-run transfers are on large buses, which might not be the most accessible option for folks who have trouble with stairs. If you're traveling with someone with mobility challenges, a private transfer can offer more flexibility in the type of car or shuttle you book.

Independent car services

Travelers who want a private transfer can also book an independent car or van service. Prices for car services from MCO to Port Canaveral can start around $200 for a one-way trip in a luxury car that can accommodate three people. If you need a larger vehicle, a van or SUV can start around $225 and has seats for up to six people.

Orlando Luxury Transportation is a highly rated black car service that offers airport-cruise port connections. You can book a luxury SUV from MCO to Port Canaveral for five people for around $230 or a Sprinter van seating up to 14 people for around $300.

Taxis and ride-hailing services

Getting a taxi to Port Canaveral is fairly easy. Taxi stands are on Level One of Terminals A and B at MCO. If you're flying into the new Terminal C, curbside arrivals are on Level Six.

Four cab companies serve MCO: Diamond Cab Company, Quick Cab, Town & Country Transport and Mears Taxi Yellow/City Cab. The cabs can carry up to nine passengers and charge the same fare no matter how many people are in the car. Fares are determined by a meter, but the average fare to Port Canaveral is about $115.

For a ride-hailing service like Uber or Lyft , head to Level Two at Terminals A and B or Level Six at Terminal C. The average route price is $69 for an Uber X and $94 for an Uber XL from MCO to Port Canaveral. Be aware that it can occasionally be challenging to get a driver to actually show up because some don't want to drive all the way to Port Canaveral from the airport if they think they won't be able to get a fare back to MCO.

Hotel shuttles

Many of the hotels near Port Canaveral offer shuttle service to the port. Free transfers or rental car parking can be a challenge to find, so contact the property to inquire about options before making a reservation. Hotel shuttle transfer costs can vary based on the location and type of hotel, but many cost around $10 per person.

Port Canaveral cruise port parking

On-site parking.

Port Canaveral has a mix of parking garages and surface lots where you can park at your assigned terminal. On embarkation day, the parking facilities are open starting at 10 a.m. Parking costs $17 per day, plus tax, for standard vehicles and recreational vehicles. All payments are made with credit cards, and cash is not accepted. If you are parking at the Terminal 3 parking garage, E-PASS and SunPass are also accepted as payment.

You can drop your luggage off with the porters at the terminal before parking. Security makes the rounds through garages and surface lots daily.

Park-and-cruise

If you're driving to the port, but want a cheaper alternative to parking on-site, consider a park-and-cruise option. These lots offer secure parking with a cruise shuttle for a set fee.

Park N Cruise Port Canaveral offers a parking lot 2 miles from the port for $10.95 per day. The parking fee includes a free shuttle for up to four people, and additional passengers cost $5 per person. Shuttles depart every 30 minutes for the terminal.

If you plan on spending the night at a nearby hotel, look for ones that offer a park-and-cruise package that includes a hotel stay and parking for the duration of your cruise. The Hampton Inn Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral offers a "Park, Stay, & Go" deal where you can book a room for one night and get included parking for up to seven nights, plus shuttle service to Port Canaveral.

No matter where you park, give yourself plenty of time to get to the terminal. For convenience, park at one of the on-site lots or garages. To save some money, check in to a nearby hotel or park in an off-site lot.

Hotels near Port Canaveral cruise port

You won't find a lack of hotel choices around Port Canaveral, especially in Cocoa Beach, which is the nearest city to the port. It's about 15 minutes away and a straight shot down state Road A1A from the cruise terminals. Since Port Canaveral and Cocoa Beach are on the same barrier island, you'll find everything from beachfront hotels to basic accommodations near the cruise terminals, though you'll have more options the deeper into Cocoa Beach you're willing to travel.

For those who want to or need to stay in Orlando because of a late arriving flight or better points options, there are some good options near the airport in the cool Lake Nona neighborhood.

Hilton hotels near Port Canaveral

Two hotels that offer clean stays and quick overnights are the Homewood Suites by Hilton Cape Canaveral-Cocoa Beach and the Hilton Garden Inn Cocoa Beach Oceanfront (50,000 and 46,000 points per night, respectively).

Both are in convenient locations about 10 minutes from the cruise terminal and are walkable to nearby restaurants. The Homewood Suites by Hilton offers free breakfast , while the Hilton Garden Inn has breakfast for a fee. Either way, don't fill up on hotel pancakes when there's an incredible lunch waiting for you on the ship.

Marriott hotels near Port Canaveral

If you're traveling with a large or extended family, consider staying at the Springhill Suites Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach (32,000 points per night, so you could use a Marriott 35k free night certificate on some dates of the year).

The all-suite hotel has a port shuttle that costs $10.80 per person one-way, and you must call the hotel to reserve a transfer. Additionally, the hotel offers complimentary breakfast to get your day going.

Another all-suite option is the TownePlace Suites Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach (31,000 points per night). The new hotel offers free breakfast and has two bars, including one out by the pool so adults can enjoy a cocktail while kids swim.

If you're planning to spend a few days in Orlando before your cruise, consider staying at the JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes (42,000 points per night). The 500-acre property is just a short drive to the theme parks for families but far enough away that it feels like an adult retreat if you don't have kids. The resort just completed a multimillion-dollar renovation, including upgrading all of the rooms and suites and adding a new water park and poolside burger bar.

Hyatt hotels near Port Canaveral

If your flight into MCO is late, consider the Hyatt Place Orlando Airport for a pre-cruise stay (9,500 points per night).

The hotel offers free breakfast, a pool and digital check-in, the latter of which is great for late incoming flights. After a good night's rest, hop on the hotel's free airport shuttle to get a ride to Port Canaveral from MCO, which will be easier to book than a ride from the hotel itself.

Non-points hotels

The Cocoa Beach area is rife with boutique hotels and accommodations that don't participate in the three major loyalty programs.

One of our favorites is The Inn at Cocoa Beach, which is right on the water. The inn has 50 rooms and is adults-only. The hotel offers a full breakfast, complimentary wine and cheese hour, beach chairs, a pool and free on-site parking.

If you're looking for a high-end hotel in Orlando to spend the night, consider the Lake Nona Wave Hotel in the heart of the booming Lake Nona neighborhood. The hotel is only 6 miles from the airport and offers luxurious suites that start at 875 square feet, with separate living room and bedroom sleeping quarters, plus a whole bath and half bath. The hotel also has one Michelin-recommended restaurant, Bacan, where the whole truffle roasted chicken is not to be missed.

Restaurants near Port Canaveral cruise port

If you need to grab breakfast or dinner during your pre-cruise stay, you'll find plenty of dining options in Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral, including beachfront seafood and great burgers. State Road A1A and state Road 520 are the main routes through the city, and that's where you'll find most of the restaurants.

For a great drink right off state Road A1A, try Ellie Mae's Tiki Bar, where you can score half-off cocktails every Wednesday through Friday from 2 to 5 p.m.

If you want to wave at departing cruise ships before or after you set sail yourself, head to one of the port-facing restaurants on Glen Cheek Drive. Most of the restaurants have spacious outdoor patios where you can dine and bid bon voyage to the ships as you eagerly await the start of your own vacation at sea. A local favorite is Seafood Atlantic, which has been working with local fishermen to bring in the freshest seafood in the area since 1984.

Things to do in Port Canaveral before or after your cruise

Since Port Canaveral is right in the middle of the state of Florida, the cruise port can be a central hub for an extended stay. If you only have a few days to extend your vacation, here are the best things you must do.

Explore the beaches

Florida is known for its beautiful beaches. If you're looking for a sandy shore right next to Port Canaveral, Cocoa Beach is the spot. Hit a theme park or 2

Going to an Orlando theme park is a rite of passage for many families with kids. If you're cruising out of Port Canaveral, consider adding a few days to the front of your trip to explore Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando Resort (featuring The Wizarding World of Harry Potter ). Both have multiple parks, on-site hotels and transportation options to and from the airport. If your family wishes to explore Disney, you can also book transfers to and from your Disney hotel to Port Canaveral.

NASA's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Just 30 minutes from Port Canaveral is the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, where you can learn about NASA and space exploration. Don't miss taking the bus tour of the facility, which is about two hours long and includes a stop at the Apollo/Saturn V Center.

If you think rockets are cool, you will want to check the rocket launch schedule for Cape Canaveral before leaving home. If you're lucky, you might be in Port Canaveral or Cocoa Beach to watch a launch. Depending on the time of day, you might already be on your cruise ship, in which case, the entire ship will start to shake as a rocket lifts off.

If you're not on your ship, the best places to watch are either from the beaches or the Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier.

Shopping near Port Canaveral cruise port

If you left something at home by accident or need to stock up on supplies like bottled water for a cruise, you'll want to head to one of the major shopping centers near Port Canaveral.

The Avenue Viera is about 30 minutes from the port. The open-air mall has retailers like Kohl's, Belk and Old Navy if you need to grab a new outfit or swimsuit. The Merritt Square Mall is about 15 minutes from Port Canaveral and has large department stores like JCPenney and Sears, plus specialty stores.

If you need to bring snacks or water onto the ship, you'll find a Publix grocery store about 10 minutes from the port. You'll want to familiarize yourself with your cruise line's policies regarding carrying on prepackaged snacks, soda, alcohol and bottled water, as many limit what you can bring.

If you're looking for a souvenir shop, Cocoa Beach's North Atlantic Avenue is dotted with cute places to find T-shirts and tchotchkes. Favorites include Alvin's Island, The Funky Mermaid Cocoa Beach and Ron Jon Surf Shop.

On the other hand, the good value Four Points by Sheraton Cocoa Beach hotel is truly unmissable while Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort is a great place to stay if you appreciate something a little fun and quirky in your hotel.

What are the Best Hotels near Port Canaveral ?

Among the best and closest hotels near Port Canaveral cruise terminal are the Homewood Suites Cape Canaveral-Cocoa Beach, Springhill Suites, Country Inn & Suites Port Canaveral and Home2 Suites by Hilton Cape Canaveral Cruise Port . Most of these properties offer a shuttle transfer and cruise parking for a fee.

Airport transfer shuttle

Some hotels offer shuttle transfers from Orlando International Airport and Orlando Sanford International Airport in Florida, although some outsource this to companies like Cocoa Beach shuttle . If you prefer booking the shuttle yourself, you can always do so. If you decide to use the hotel offered shuttle, you might end up paying a similar, slightly lower or slightly higher shuttle fee to the hotel, than you would be booking on your own.

Again, we suggest you book your hotel depending on your needs rather than their airport transfer shuttle as this can be booked separately.

Another option is to rent a single-way vehicle that can be dropped off at the car rental depot near the port. From there, you can catch a free shuttle to the port. Night stays at most hotels include free parking for the duration of your stay.

As for parking

After making a reservation of your hotel of choice, you can always park at the port . If it works for you, you can also opt for park and cruise. Stay for the night and leave your car at the hotel while on cruise. Rates begin around $6.00 per night for parking.

The decision to stay at any of the hotel mentioned here depends on what you need. Whether you are traveling with family or a pet. If you do not mind staying further inland, you also might end up saving more as hotels near the port tend to cost a bit more. That, however, means you might end up paying more for the shuttle to the port when leaving for your cruise.

Ultimately, your choice of hotel should cater to all your needs and be within your budget. Make sure to check a few hotels and compare to get the best deal.

The More I Park there for Cruises, the more I love it! 8th time Parking there. Easy to access to the web site Call for discounts-I use my Veteran's/Military one. The area is secure, monitored 24 hrs and is gated. All the employees are respectful, helpful& make you feel safe to leave your vehicle there! Never disappointed, getting off the ship, just walk to section 4/5 for off site parking. Both ways, the driver loads your luggage. I live in a 55+ Park in Fla& now my neighbors are hooked on Port Parking Space. Shuttles are frequent, never over crowded & located with a short ride to the Port. I am a "picky retired RN& picky when I travel & this company does not let you down! I promise you will not be disappointed. Thanks fellas for another wonderful experience-See you in March!!~

Second time I have parked there. Seamless entry,is gated, security is in place. I used a Military discount(15%) off & showed my VA card when I pulled in. e unloaded the luggage which I stayed with while my travel companion parked the car. They loaded our luggage on to the shuttle.A quick trip across the street to the Port & we were off. Given a card for the return trip from the Port. Got our luggage off the shuttle & where we parked was slow close,we wheeled it to the car. They were professional, efficient & we waited no more than 5" in either direction. Very close to the Port: 8945 Columbia Road Cape Canaveral,Fl 32922/(321-353-8353). Their [email protected] Once again,a great experience, recommend this parking company without hesitation.

It's cheap but you get what you pay for. They promote that they have multiple EV chargers but the 17 year olds that are in charge of checking people in don't seem to provide any direction or enforcement so they were all full with non-EVs. You have to take a shuttle so it is less convenient than parking at the terminal garage and adds 20-30 minutes to getting off the ship and on the road. Might be a good fit if you're looking to save money but if you value your time, just park at the terminal.

Photo of Mike F.

Easy in and out access, friendly and efficient staff, very helpful. We had a situation where one of our party left a bag at the terminal. They brought him back and picked him up and drove him back after he retrieved the bag at no extra charge. We will definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone we know that is sailing out of Port Canaveral!

Great experience! We live in Tampa and drove to Port Canaveral for a one week cruise. The onsite port parking doesn't have EV chargers, but Port Parking Space does! The location is pretty close to the pier, and we saw shuttles going between the two with great frequency. My husband said his experience parking was excellent. He was immediately directed to an EV charging space, they had the reservation on file, there was a shuttle ready to whisk him to our cruise. The whole process was seamless. When we arrived back in port, there were several shuttles waiting to bring passengers back to the parking lot, and since we had prepaid, we just drove on out and back home! I'd happily use Port Parking Space again.

We just took a cruise with Carnival and parked with Port Parking Space for the first time and would like to say the service here was par excellence. Both the ground crew and the drivers were very professional and friendly.

What a great experience! They are very efficient and friendly. Had us on a shuttle for the quick ride to the ship in no time. They have you take a picture of the instructions and map, brilliant. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend this place ...the people here are so friendly... You don't have to really wait for a shuttle ...they take you back-and-forth to the port really fast.

Photo of Shelly Z.

We had a great experience parking here! Super efficient. The staff was friendly and shuttles were prompt! It's close to the port so we even debated walking. Would definitely park here again!

Photo of Mike N.

We arrived at the Port parking Space which is easy to find in Port Canaveral. We cruised on Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas. The parking attendants were prompt and courteous. There is minimal wait time as they have many shuttles and drivers. Aside from the parking ramp next door to Cruise terminal 1, this is the closest parking available. It's only a couple minutes. At the end of the cruise, the driver was there waiting and we were off in only a few minutes. I would repeat in a heartbeat!

Photo of David F.

I had a perfect experience. It was raining cats and dogs, so I really appreciated their covered walkway and paved lot. I have used several cruise parking services, and this rings up as the best. Will be using them in the future.

‘Urgent and necessary:’ Port Canaveral CEO announces new cruise terminal

Expansion coming to north side of port.

Haley Coomes , Digital Content Producer

James Sparvero , Reporter

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – In order to meet the growing demands of the cruise industry, Port Canaveral announced its plan to build a new cruise terminal and parking garage.

During a press conference on Thursday, CEO John Murray said the need for a new terminal is urgent and necessary.

“All of our ports in Florida on the East Coast and south ports are full,” said Murray. “Can’t go to Miami, can’t go to Tampa, the ships are too big. Jacksonville — same issue.”

[EXCLUSIVE: Become a News 6 Insider (it’s FREE) | PINIT! Share your photos ]

The expansion will be located at the existing North 8 berth and adjacent to Terminal 5, an area that Murray said is underutilized. Designed and built in 2018 for multi-purpose flexibility, the North 8 berth will require minimal modifications to extend the current 1,020 linear feet bulkhead to 1,344 feet to accommodate large cruise vessels.

Crews will also be able to build a terminal faster on the north side as opposed to the busier south side. The new terminal would help relieve congestion in the south side community and bring it to the north side.

The announcement comes as Port Canaveral prepares for more ships in 2024: Utopia of the Seas — the world’s second-largest cruise ship — is expected to set sail in July, Celebrity and Princess cruises are expected to begin in the fall, and the Disney Treasure’s maiden voyage is set for December.

“We’re at a point where our six terminals are operating at maximum utilization and the need for a new terminal has become more urgent,” Murray said.

About 800,000 people went on a cruise in March, a new monthly record for the port.

Murray said the port is so busy it actually has to turn some ships away now.

Murray could not give details on production costs but did say the project is self-funded. The goal is to have the cruise terminal operating by mid-summer of 2026.

Previously, that was about when the port wanted to finish a terminal in the marina district, as the port said it would not renew the Cape Marina’s lease when it ends in 2026.

On Thursday, Murray reiterated the lease still won’t be renewed, but he also said fishermen are not being kicked out of the port.

“We’re going to carve out a long-term spot for our commercial fishermen,” he said. “We think of them as the fabric of our port, and we want to make sure that we protect that segment of the industry.”

Murray said building a terminal at the marinas should happen around 2030.

Florida Cruise Port Home to MSC, Norwegian, and More Is Expanding — What to Know

Port Canveral's new terminal is expected to be up and running by 2026.

disney cruise parking cape canaveral

Education Images/Getty Images

A cruise port on Florida’s Space Coast is going bigger, planning to build a brand-new cruise terminal to meet demand.

Port Canaveral’s new, expanded cruise terminal will be built at one of the existing berths and is expected to be operational by summer 2026, according to the port . When complete, it will have the ability to serve multiple cruise lines.

"A new cruise terminal and the business it will deliver builds on our Board’s commitment to the economic prosperity of our Port community," Micah Loyd, the chairman of the Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners, said in a statement. “This proactive, business-oriented strategy reaffirms our commitment to ensure the State of Florida continues to prosper from cruise tourism and remains the ‘Cruise Capital of the World’.”

When finished, the new terminal will extend the current North 8 berth by more than 300 feet to  accommodate larger cruise ships. The project will also include a new multi-story parking facility with the ability to accommodate up to 3,000 vehicles along with roadway improvements.

Port officials expect disruptions to current operations to be minimal during construction due to the project’s location.

Capt. John Murray, the Port Canaveral CEO, said in the statement the planned new terminal is “key to retaining and growing this important business segment that supports many jobs and delivers high value to our regional and state economy.”

Currently, several major cruise lines call Port Canaveral home: Carnival Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, and MSC Cruises. In fact, the site welcomed an all-time high 6.8 million cruise passengers in the 2023 fiscal year, according to the port .

From Port Canaveral , which is nestled along Florida’s Space Coast , travelers can explore NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex , hang out on the sand at Cocoa Beach , tour mangroves, keep an eye out for manatees and dolphins, and more.
