Everything You Need to Know About Traveling to See the Olympics

Attending the Olympic Games can be both thrilling and challenging, with all of the usual travel logistics ratcheted up to an Olympic level. Here are the essential Olympic travel guidelines and tips you need to know when planning your trip.

Note that most of the following tips apply to both the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which tend to occur about two weeks apart. The two-week break makes it very tough to attend both, but the Paralympic Games are just as exciting and inspiring, so they’re worth consideration in and of themselves.

Getting Tickets to the Olympics

Buying tickets for the Olympics will look slightly different this year than in the past. Previously, event presales were handled by a single vendor depending on where you live — for example, in the United States, ticketing was handled by CoSport . For the 2024 Games, tickets are only available through the official ticketing website of the Paris Olympics . Tickets for Paralympic events are available through the same portal beginning October 9th .

Event tickets tend to be released in waves. The first round of tickets for the Paris Olympics went on sale via a lottery system in March, followed by a second wave in May. As of July 5th, the remaining tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

When choosing events, I have found this strategy to work well: First get something you really care about, and then choose something that seems interesting but you know very little about. For example, at one recent Olympic Games my family went to a tae kwon do event when our son was involved in the sport, and we even saw his teacher there working as a judge. The next day we went to mountain biking, which was wild and very cool, with attendees all running around the fields that connected one obstacle to the next.

Tickets to many events may officially sell out up to a year in advance but are often still available through package deals. A visit to the vendor’s website will tell you a lot about what is on offer.

Figure Out Your Lodging Next

Lodging is likely to be your biggest challenge and is the trip component you should research and lock down first. You can use your favorite search engines to get started, comparing your options to the venues you hope to attend. The venues are set years in advance, so you can start searching fairly early on. Brace yourself, as there is quite a bit of speculative pricing that can go on, and availability can be hard to come by; in fact, one 2020 Olympic hopeful I know booked their entire family into double rooms at a Tokyo “love hotel,” yikes.

The official Olympics ticketing site also offers all-inclusive travel packages that include a certain number of nights’ lodging with a certain number of event tickets—but those tend to be somewhat pricey compared to DIY lodging options. That said, purchasing from the official outlet does tend to ensure some level of quality as well as a centralized location, so it is always worth a look.

Finding Olympic Flights

Many Olympic host cities have more than one airport, and it is worth your while to research airfares to all of them. For the Paris Olympics in 2024, for example, you can choose between Charles de Gaulle, Paris-Orly, and Beauvais–Tillé Airport.

Paris-Orly is smaller than Charles de Gaulle, but is less busy and located within easy reach of the southern side of the city. Charles de Gaulle offers more flight options from a wider range of destinations and is located to the north. For those flying budget , Beauvais–Tillé Airport may be your best bet.

Weather, Transport, and Getting to Venues

You’ll want to prepare for extreme weather no matter which Olympics you’re attending—pack plenty of warm layers for the winter Games, and prepare for heat if you’re attending a summer event.

Transport to venues varies tremendously depending on the host city and the location of a given venue. As you get farther from the main venues, transport connections can become more tricky. Strong public transportation in past Olympic cities such as Tokyo and London has been essential. Rio was a different story, but taxis were so affordable that they were actually a preferable option in many cases (just be careful to use sanctioned taxi services).

It almost goes without saying that you should give yourself some extra time whenever you are headed to a competition; if you miss a bus, end up on a long security line, need some time to find the correct entrance, or can’t quite figure out where you are supposed to go, you could miss the most dramatic moments of the competition.

You should also be prepared to walk a bit; entrances may not be right in front of transportation spots, security might be purposely far from the competition area, and the venue itself may be spread out.

Find the Free Events

Even before you start attending competitions, every Olympic host city has some kind of massive public space for exhibitors and sponsors to put on shows, display wares, and more. These are often (although not always) right outside the main Olympic Stadium and have the host mascots running around, interactive games and exhibits, giant jumbotrons showing live events and highlights, and the like. These are worth seeing just to get the overall vibe of the Games, to people-watch, and to pick up (often free) souvenirs. This year, guests can even watch the opening ceremony ticket-free on the upper quays of the Seine.

Additionally, at every Olympics there are a number of events that take place in semi-public places, allowing you to see significant parts of the event at no cost whatsoever.

These are usually distance events of some kind in which the venue is huge and can’t be entirely closed off, or even runs through the streets and public spaces of the host city. These typically include the following:

• Road cycling
• Rowing, canoeing, and kayaking

I’d also throw in surfing; 2021 was the first year of surfing at the Games, so there is little history of how it is set up, but it seems like a candidate for being able to watch from near the event.

Then there are venues that back up to public spaces. In Rio, rowing was one of these; the lake on which the event took place was right in the middle of Ipanema, and you could see athletes competing from all over the place. The finish line was right next to a small skateboarding spot, and the crews headed right toward the kids skating there, while the start line was against the ring road around the lake at a spot where a small playground and picnic area remained open throughout the Games. The starting tower was surrounded by picnickers, and the local spectators were perhaps 50 to 80 meters from the athletes at the starting line.

These can be a bit tricky to figure out—for example, in London, you could not see rowing at all because the venue was surrounded by a huge moat that prevented anyone but ticket holders from getting anywhere near the course—but if you survey the venues and racecourses, you can usually figure out where you might hang out to see the athletes zoom past.

Consider Heading Home Early or Late

I have found that folks trickle into the Olympic host city over time, but everyone leaves over the same day or two. Leaving the day before the closing ceremonies, or staying on a few days afterward, can often help avoid the stampede as well as keep airfare prices down a bit.

Don’t overpack.

Travel light to each event. The biggest slowdown you will encounter will almost always be bag check lines when entering (this is a rule at almost all large events these days). If you can avoid backpacks and bags, you can save time and aggravation.

Explore the City

Add in some “regular” tourism. Most host cities are exceptional destinations with or without the Games, and can be even better during the Olympics when even the non-sports attractions will get caught up in Olympic fever and put their best foot forward. Definitely visit some non-Olympic events to get a feel for the host city and country while you are there.

Fieldhouse Hours

The 9.75-acre Olympia Park located west of Harlem Avenue in the Edison Park community offers an immense range of programming for residents. Making the most of its gymnasium and two club rooms, Olympia Park provides instruction in basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, and floor hockey for youth.  Outdoors, the park features two senior and one junior baseball field, as well as a combination soccer / football field, four basketball standards, three tennis courts, a playground, and water spray feature.

For those interested in art, there are classes in painting,drawing, and arts & crafts. Olympia Park begins instruction for children as young as 18 months old, with its moms, pops and tots and parent/child art classes. For ages 3-5, the park offers the following developmental programs: fitness fun, preschool, storytime and crafts, seasonal tot t-ball and tot soccer. Teens gather at the park for basketball. Adults can join the popular basketball and volleyball leagues. Seniors participate in their own walking and fitness classes.

Olympia Park takes its name from Olympia Avenue, the street on its northwestern border, which in turn makes reference to the ancient Greek site of the first Olympics. During the 1910s and 1920s, the population of the surrounding Edison Park neighborhood increased from 300 to over 5,000 residents, although stretches of farmland still separated the fine homes. Local residents established the Edison Park District in 1913 to provide recreational opportunities for the developing community.  In 1925, the Edison Park District purchased an approximately 10-acre tract of open land to create a much-anticipated athletic field. The local athletic association pushed for rapid improvements, even offering to help with fund-raising efforts. The Park District quickly responded by grading the site, laying out a baseball field, and erecting a grandstand. In 1934, the Great Depression forced consolidation of Chicago's 22 independent park boards into the unified Chicago Park District and the park became part of the Chicago Park District’s portfolio. By 1940, the Chicago Park District had improved Olympia Park with a children's playground, tennis courts, and an athletic field that was flooded for ice skating in winter. The park also became known for its 14 beautiful flower beds. During the 1950s, the Chicago Park District constructed a small recreation building in the park. This was remodeled and expanded around 1970. In 1980, a meeting room in the Olympia Park fieldhouse was named in honor of local resident Fred Norton, who was instrumental in lobbying for the fieldhouse expansion.

SUNČEV BREG

Sunčev Breg je smešten u južnom delu crnomorskog primorja. Pruža se duž prelepog, polukružnog zaliva okrenutog ka istoku. U zaleđini grada se završava impozantni venac balkanskih planina i stvara prelep ambijent. Na jugu se nalazi antički grad, Nesebar.

Crna Gora Letovanje - Budva - Uličice i trgovi Starog budvanskog grada pamte ljudske stope više od 2000 godina unazad. BODRUM – EGEJSKA REGIJA

Bodrum je najbučnije letovalište i centar noćnog života Turske. U brojnim uvalama obližnjeg poluostrva su manja ribarska sela i hoteli a sam grad je u njegovom centru.Omiljeno je mesto odmora turskih boema, umetnika i biznismena. Najbliži aerodrom je udaljen 24 km što iziskuje oko 45 minuta vožnje. Grad je smešten na ostacima drevnog Halikarnasa u kom je u 4. veku p.n.e. izgradjen čuveni Mauzolej, jedno od sedam svetskih čuda antičkog sveta. Nažalost, stradao je u zemljotresu u srednjem veku a njegovi ostaci se danas mogu jedino videti u Britanskom muzeju u Londonu.

Mahdija je letovalište na obali Sredozemnog mora. Udaljeno je 210 km južno od grada Tunisa i 45 km od Monastira. Pogodna je za miran porodični odmor sa decom. Veliki broj hotela je rasporedjen duž obale. Svaki od njih poseduje svoju teritoriju, divno uredjene vrtove, bazene, barove,restorane, igrališta za decu kao i direktan izlaz na uredjenu peščanu plažu. Iza zidova hotela malo toga ima za izlazak ili zabavu, sve noćne aktivnosti se odvijaju u okvirima hotela.

Grčka je zemlja koja oduzima dah svojom lepotom, istorijom i kulturom. Grčka je kolevka zapadne civilizacije, mesto gde su nastali demokratija, filozofija i nauka. Grčka je takođe zemlja sa preko 2000 ostrva, koja nude raznovrsne pejzaže, od planinskih do pustinjskih. Grčka je zemlja koja nudi nešto za svakoga, bilo da tražite avanturu, opuštanje ili učenje.

Turska je zemlja bogate istorije koja se udobno smestila izmedju Evrope i Azije i upila sve specifičnosti oba kontinenta. Njen zapadni deo gde su Istanbul, Izmir i Antalija su bogatiji, gusto naseljeni i okrenuti prema Evropi i Mediteranu. Drugi deo, koji se proteže od Ankare prema istoku, sa svojim surovim, beskrajnim anadolijskim stepama, više podseća na Aziju. Većina turista bira zapad sastavljen od legendarnog i magijom prektivenog Istanbula do najdužih i najčistijih obala Sredozemnog mora koje se protežu duboko u azijsko kopno. Dobrodošli u Tursku, zemlju nezamislivih lepota i jednako lepih tradicija. Odmor će biti nezaboravan zbog izvanredne kombinacije orijentalnih boja i zapadnog servisa. Mediteranska obala Turske je jedna od najpopularnijih u svetu. Tajna leži u velikom broju hotela širokog spektra cena, klimi koja omogućava odmor gotovo cele godine i srdačnosti i gostoljubivosti njenih žitelja koja će privući svakoga jednom i zauvek. Egipat je zemlja kontrasta, smeštena na severu Afrike i delom na Sinajskom poluostrvu. Kao i u drevnim vremenima, nije mogla da postoji bez svoje „žile kucavice“, Nila. Najduža reka sveta nosi bogate vode iz srca Afrike i navodnjava usku cvetnu dolinu koja prolazi kroz ogromnu pustinju. Zemlju zapljuskuju dva mora: Sredozemnno na severu i Crveno na istoku. Retke su države koje mogu da se uporede sa Egiptom po broju istorijskih spomenika. Slavne piramide u Gizi, pogrebni hramovi doline kraljeva, hram u Luksoru, kolosi u Abu Simbelu su samo mali deo egipatskog istorijskog blaga koji mogu ostaviti neizbrisive utiske na posetioce. Odmor u Egiptu je boravak na čuvenim plažama Crvenog mora, u prelepoj Hurgadi, popularnom Šarm el Šeiku, El Guni koju još nazivaju „egipatskom Venecijom“, u klimatskim letovalištima Safagi, Dahabi ili Tabi. Odlična klima, široke peščane plaže, kvalitetni hoteli i različiti izleti čine odmor u Egiptu nezaboravnim.

Tunis je zemlja kontrasta, sjajnih utisaka, mirisa mediteranskog zelenila i peska Sahare na jugu. Tamo su afričke tradicije i evropska kultura divno prepletene a prestonica se naziva „Pariz severne Afrike“. Moderna letovališta, impresivne prirodne i ljudskom rukom stvorene atrakcije Tunisa, osvojiće svakog ljubitelja egzotike i prijatnog odmora. Zemlja je već stekla zasluženu popularnost. Spada u jeftine pravce, relativno bezbedna sa obalom dužom od 1300 km i sa raznolikim pejzažima, od mediteranske vegetacije na severu do peščanih dina na jugu. Novi moderni hoteli su se uklopili u gradove bogate istorije a Tunižani su umeli da nadju balans izmedju tradicije i savremenosti. Biseri raznih kultura, svedoci svih epoha, moćne odbrambene tvrdjave, ogromne džamije, evropski hramovi i neobični muzeji i bužni arapski kvartovi i sukovi ukrašavaju svaku stopu ove neobične zemlje.

Zašto ovo malo, sredozemno ostrvo privlači toliku pažnju medju turistima iz celog sveta? Pre svega zbog sunca kog ima 340 dana u godini i zbog toplog i čistog mora ili prelepih plaža, rasporedjenih po obodu celog ostrva. Plaža ima različitih: zabačenih, javnih, šljunkovitih ili peščanih… Na Kipru svako može da nadje nešto za sebe: plažu na koju je, po mitu, izronila iz morske pene Afrodita, tvrdjavu u kojoj se venčao Ričard Lavljeg Srca venčao sa Berengarijom od Navare, ostatke antičkiog grada Kurijuma, čuvene vizantijske manastire na planini Trodos, ikone, freske, mozaike, Otelovu trvdjavu u Famagusti, u turskom delu ostrva, kvart zabave i dobre hrane „Laiki Gitonja“ u Nikoziji… I još mnogo toga što čuvaju kiparski muzeji, zabačene tvrdjave ili ono što le još uvek zakopano u srcu zemlje… Kipar letovanje 2023. poznatiji i kao Afroditino ostrvo. Odlični klimatski , veliki broj sunčanih dana, dosta plaža sa oznakom plave zastavice čine ovo ostrvo gotovo idealnom destinacijom za letovanje. Bogato kulturno nasledje, egzotična priroda privlače veliki broj turista. Aja Napa je prepoznatljiva i kao „kiparska Ibica“ pre svega zbog bogatog noćnog života.

Letovanje u Hrvatskoj je odličan izbor za sve koji vole more, sunce i prirodu. Hrvatska ima preko 1000 ostrva i ostrvaca, kristalno čisto more i bogatu kulturnu baštinu. Možete uživati u lepotama nacionalnih parkova kao što su Plitvička jezera, Kornati ili Krka, ili posetiti neki od gradova pod zaštitom Uneska kao što su Dubrovnik, Split ili Poreč. Hrvatska nudi i raznovrsnu gastronomiju, od ribe i morskih plodova do pršuta i sira. Bilo da tražite mir i opuštanje ili zabavu i avanturu, Hrvatska ima po nešto za svakoga.

Slovenija je leti raskošni zeleni svet šuma, recnih dolina i pašnjaka koji se sa istočnih obronaka Alpa spušta ka Panonskoj niziji i obalama severnog Jadrana. Samo nekoliko desetina kilometara deli večni sneg alpskih vrhova od bujne mediteranske vegetacije slovenackog primorja. Na tom malom prostoru, povezani odličnim putevima, smešteni su renomirani, besprekorno uređeni primorski, banjskii planinski centri.

Smestena na obalama Jonskog i Jadranskog mora, ova mala mediteranska država pruza brojne mogucnosti za turisticka istrazivanja. Od polja maka u prolece, do snegom prekrivenih planina zimi, krajolik Albanije se stalno menja. Aktivan odmor u prirodi ili topli letnji odmori na plazi, samo su neke od prilika za uzivanje brojnih posetilaca. Čiste i netaknute plaže u primoriju, zivopisne doline reka, spektakularne planine i mnoga druga prirodna iznenadjenja deo su turisticke ponude. Najinteresantniji turisticki centri su Drac, Ksamil, Saranda i Vlora – Valona.

Bugarska – zauzima središnji deo istočne polovine Balkana. Svojim istočnim delom izlazi na Crno more, sa severa se graniči sa Rumunijom i najvećim delom granica je Dunav, sa zapada sa Srbijom i Makedonijom, a južnu granicu deli sa Grčkom i Turskom. Bugarska je jedinstvena zemlja po svojim prirodni i geografskim karakteristikama. Planine su više u odnosu na planine u drugim Balkanskim zemljama, hidrotermalnih i minerlanih izvora ima mnogo više nego u drugim zemljama, doline i kotline su pretvorene u velike cvećnjake, kakvi se retko sreću u Evropi. Međutim ono po čemu je Bugarska postala poslednjih godina je brzina kojom se turizam razvija u ovoj zemlji, kako duž obale Crnog mora tako i na planinama. Duž celog primorja smenjuju se peščane plaže, čisto more, kvalitetni hoteli i sadržaji, u atmosferi vekovne tradicije.

Malta se nalazi u Sredozemnom moru 96 km juzno od Sicilije i 290 km severno od Afrike. U sastavu Malte ulaze i ostrva Gozo i Comino, kao i nenaseljena ostrva Cominotto i Fifla. • Due to increased security measures, passengers traveling from Athens to Tel Aviv are required to physically visit the designated check-in counters at Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos", irrespective of whether they have baggage to drop off. Passengers departing from any other airport and transiting through Athens with destination Tel Aviv, if eligible to enter Greece, must pick up their boarding pass at the designated check in counters.  If unable to enter Greece, they will obtain their boarding pass at the transfer desk at Athens International Airport.  In both scenarios assistance from the connection ambassador is always accessible at the airport.  Due to the anticipated delays in the boarding procedure time, you are strongly advised to arrive at the gate as early as possible. Illinois Service Line  Train time from Chicago: 4 hours and 45 minutes

The Gateway City is best known for the 630-foot arch towering over downtown (it’s worth visiting the historic landmark for a great aerial view of the city), but venture to neighborhoods like Central West End, Lafayette Square and Maplewood for art, Victorian architecture and locally-owned shops and restaurants.

Say cheers to St. Louis’s brewing past with a tour of the Anheuser-Busch flagship brewery , an ornate 1850s-era facility housing over 30 of the company’s brands. Afterwards, head to one of the nearly 65 crafts breweries St. Louis boasts—start with Earthbound , Schlafly and 4 Hands Brewing Co . Before hopping back on the train, fill up at nearby Levels , a Nigerian-inspired restaurant aiming to bring the spirit—and delicious food—of Lagos to the Midwest.

Douglas, who became the first Black woman to win the Olympic all-around title when she soared to gold at the 2012 London Games, is among a star-studded field that will compete at the XL Center in the last major tuneup before the U.S. Championships.

The meet also includes 2016 Olympic champion Simone Biles and 2020 Olympic champion Sunisa Lee as well as Olympic medalists Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles, among others.

Douglas, 28, competed for the first time in eight years at the American Classic in Katy, Texas, last month. While there was some noticeable rust, Douglas also showed flashes of why she is intent on making a run at the five-woman U.S. team that will head to Paris as heavy favorites in August.

Travel issues prevented Douglas from landing in Connecticut until early Friday morning. She estimated she got about two hours of sleep but felt it was important to get comfortable on the equipment in her first competition in a large venue since helping the U.S. team win gold at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

“I felt like, so much nostalgia,” Douglas said.

Nostalgia will likely give way to jitters when she salutes the judges on Saturday. While she acknowledged there may be more than a few butterflies at the U.S. Classic, she also stressed, “it’s a really fun moment.”

A somewhat unexpected one, too. Douglas went on a sabbatical that looked an awful lot like retirement after leaving Rio.

“It ended rough for me in 2016 so I didn’t want to end on that note,” Douglas said. “Regardless of the outcome, I wanted to make sure, like, I end on love and joy instead of hating something that I loved.”

She felt the pangs to return while watching the 2022 U.S. Championships and has spent nearly two years training in the Dallas area preparing for this moment.

She’s had a couple of weeks to regroup after the American Classic, which hinted at the talent she still has at an age when most American elite gymnasts have long since retired.

Her double-twisting Yurchenko on vault had plenty of amplitude and on bars — her best event — she had the pieces of a routine that would certainly be competitive at the elite level.

The challenge will be finding a way to put all the pieces together consistently.

Douglas came off bars twice and her floor routine lacked the crispness and endurance to stack up with what will be required for anyone hoping to make a serious bid for the Olympic team.

She’s not looking for perfection on Saturday, just improvement.

“I just want to go out there and do my very best and not try too hard or try too much,” Douglas told reporters. “Just try to do my normal.”

Rise of resort day passes offers travelers luxury on a budget

The New York resident said she spent more in 2023 than she had expected to, including on travel, and is now reining in her expenses. She uses travel hacks and benefits to cut some of the cost, and she's part of a growing number of people turning to hotel day passes as a cheaper option for relaxation.

"It's like a neat way to escape and feel like you're at a five-star hotel," Bowler said, "but you can't afford to stay."

Day passes at hotels and resorts offer guests access to amenities without the cost of reserving a room. Bowler said she's booked daybeds and poolside services and even found a pass that offered a room where her husband could work from his laptop.

Hotels and third-party partners are making day passes more readily available to help bridge the gap between travel-minded consumers and luxury prices.

A typical luxury hotel room in the U.S. between Jan. 1 and April 6 cost roughly $400 per night, according to CoStar, a global provider of real estate data, analytics and news. Those rates are about 1% higher than the same period a year ago.

Luxury hotel room rates in July are expected to be 85% higher than the same month in 2019, before the Covid pandemic, according to the luxury travel company Virtuoso.

"People are back to thinking about travel budgets," said Hayley Berg, lead economist with travel site Hopper. "They're prioritizing expenditure on vacations, more so than consumer goods."

In a survey conducted in July 2023 by  Booking.com , more than 60% of respondents said their cost of living will determine their travel planning in 2024, while slightly more than half said they were likely to pay for accommodation upgrades.

A majority of U.S. travelers said they would be willing to pay for day passes to use the amenities in a five-star hotel without staying there, according to a Booking.com press release about the survey. The survey included nearly 28,000 adults from 33 countries who said they planned to travel over the next 12-24 months.

Consumers who indulged in travel splurges after Covid restrictions lifted fueled the "revenge travel" trend, Berg said, driving up demand for lavish accommodations. Now, she said, that trend "has very much run out" and many travelers are working with tighter budgets.

Berg said day passes "give people exactly what they want" and provide a separate source of revenue for hotels.

"Hotels get an incremental revenue stream by providing exactly what they already have," she said.

One of those hotels is the Virgin Hotels New York City, in Manhattan's Koreatown neighborhood. On May 8 the hotel opened its rooftop pool for the second time, with the option for day guests to use the amenity.

The pool, with cerulean blue tiles flanked by black-and-white lounge chairs, offers guests views of the Empire State Building and city skyline.

Customers can reserve a pool lounge chair or upgrade to a cabana and invite up to four other people. The cabana includes complimentary services and refreshments such as wine and fruit. Day-pass users at the pool club can also get their own personalized server, depending on their selections. A day pass for the pool club starts at $130.

"Everybody needs a little bit of escape," said Sarah Payton, the hotel's head of partnerships and programming.

In May 2023 the hotel partnered with ResortPass, a site that provides day-pass access at luxury hotels, resorts and spas, often at a discounted rate.

ResortPass, launched in 2016, holds 95% share of the day-guest market, according to the company, and has partnered with more than 1,300 luxury hotels, including the Waldorf-Astoria, JW Marriott and Fontainebleau.

The day-guest platform has served more than 3 million users and has rolled out day-pass access in more than 250 cities, the company said, at prices as low as $25.

"What we are really able to do is enable people a more local way of getting away without going away," ResortPass CEO Michael Wolf said. "I think it compliments other types of travel, and serves potentially in lieu of it."

The average ResortPass customer purchases all-day access at a cost of about $165, the company said. Customers who buy day passes through ResortPass often splurge on poolside or other hotel amenities more than overnight guests do, Wolf said.

"Our guests on average spent over $250 on the premise of the property, and often quite a bit more than that," he said.

Wolf said ResortPass is currently working on a membership-like program for customers who use day passes frequently, with an announcement expected later in 2024.
