Qualify for the Third Pro Tour of 2024 and Get Sweet Promos While Doing It!

There's plenty of time to qualify for a Pro Tour in 2024 , with Regional Championship Qualifiers for the second Pro Tour going on right now, and Regional Championships for the first Pro Tour in mid-swing.

However, whether you're all set for the first Pro Tour, or working your way towards the second, there's never a bad time to qualify, and the qualifying pathways for the third Pro Tour of 2024 will be opening up at the start of next year.

Upcoming Regional Championship Qualifiers

The third round of the 2023-24 season's qualifiers will begin on January 6, 2024, and will run until March 24, 2024. WPN stores and larger organizers that participate will be running Regional Championship Qualifiers (RCQs) that qualify players for the Regional Championship covering their respective region. Those Regional Championships will take place in Q2 of 2024 and will qualify for the third Pro Tour of 2024 in late June.

RCQs run at the WPN level for this round will either be Limited or Standard Constructed. Please note that larger events that are designated as "destination" qualifiers—events run in larger venues such as hotel ballrooms or convention centers—may be run as other Constructed formats as well. Please check with your local organizer for all specific info on qualifiers near you.

This round refreshes the Secret Lair promo card line-up for participants and top finishes, embracing a few two-mana sorcery spells that have been competitive mainstays in tournament Magic history.

January 6–March 24, 2024 Regional Championship Qualifier promo cards*:

The Regional Championships for Pro Tour 3 in 2024 will be scheduled between May 4 and June 2 in 2024. The format for these Regional Championships is Standard Constructed.

Top finishers from these events earn invitations to the third Pro Tour of 2024 ("Pro Tour 3"), with invites varying by region. The winners of each Regional Championship—as well as the finalists from the USA, EMEA, and Japan—will also qualify for 2024's Magic: The Gathering World Championship, happening later in 2024.

Regional Championship Secret Lair Prize Card:

  • Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle: Mountains, join forces! Valakut will be the featured prize card for this Regional Championship round, featuring artwork by Graham Yarrington. Sting has been known to put on a truly marvelous show throughout his nearly 50-year career, and North American fans are going to get to experience what he can do this fall. The pop/rock star is hitting the United States and Canada for the Sting 3.0 Tour 2024.

What does Sting 3.0 mean? Nobody is quite sure, including fans on his Instagram account . Still, the mystery just makes it all the more exciting!

Sting will kick off the upcoming Sting 2024 Tour with support from guitarist Dominic Miller and drummer Chris Maas. The first stop on the tour will be on September 17 in Detroit, Michigan at Fillmore Detroit. The tour will come to a close (pending any additional dates) on November 13 in Los Angeles, California at The Wiltern.

Getting tickets for this tour is quite easy. Fans can pop over to Ticketmaster for the presale event, which will kick off on March 11 at 1:00 pm EDT. There will be a number of presale events for this tour, including an artist presale, VIP presale, and Citi cardholder presale.

My husband and I don't travel much and are not familiar with the Travel 101, so we're really grateful for finding Guide to the Philippines. Thank you Paradise Garden. Our island hopping activity partnered with Boracay Adventures Travel and Tours was really fun too. Our guide was really funny and cheeky. It made the entire tour even more enjoyable and comfortable even if we were with strangers. Thank you so much. The mistake I did was not adding activities in our package for our day 3 and 4 ahead. Although originally, we decided to just roam the island on our own that's why we didn't book any for those days, but since we got persuaded by the offers around (and obviously it was more expensive than how it should've been), we got to spend more. So a tip, think carefully if you really don't have to or have to add activities in your package because offers around the island are usually double or triple the original price lol. But all in all, we had a really great time. My husband and I have always been team bahay ever since we were young so travelling was always a burden for us, but with this, everything was handled for us. I had the best time on this tour, the trek was amazing and our tour guide, Monica, and all the porters were incredible. ‘You Can See the Hate In His Face': Steve Harvey Gives Bernie Mac a Dirty Look During 'Kings of Comedy' Promo Tour In Resurfaced Clip

R umors of turmoil between Bernie Mac and Steve Harvey ‘s working relationship have circulated in Hollywood for years. Fellow comedians and insiders, including Katt Williams , suggest that the dynamic between the two was fueled by competition and perhaps jealousy on the part of the “Family Feud” host.

Now an old video of the two comedians promoting the “Kings of Comedy” tour has resurfaced, sparking speculation on social media about Steve’s feelings toward the star of “The Bernie Mac Show.”

In a resurfaced clip posted by @Iam_big_bankz, Bernie is delivering a joke during a radio interview, with a young Cedric The Entertainer cracking up and D.L. Hughley seeming to be concentrating on the joke.

Steve, however, is seen on the side with what looks like a sour face. While the excerpt is possibly out of context, social media detectives say the evidence is clear: In the clip “Steve is hating hard.”

Others also chimed in.

“U can see the hate in his face,” one person wrote. Another person added, “Ohh shiiii, it’s all out of the box now [two laughing emojis] Steve has some explaining to do.”

A third comment read, “Steve over there figuring out which jokes he is going to steal.” A fourth online user said, “They knew Bernie was the ONE !!!!”

To some, the short clip appears to show Harvey’s “envy, jealousy and hate” for Mac, including one person who said, “To me, it looks like he was just looking at Bernie.”

Some people who saw the original footage claim the camera was cut before Steve got a chance to laugh. They believe the video was edited to fuel the “narrative” about their beef. “Yup. Steve Harvey always looks like this, but you know… divide and conquer.”

Still, multiple comedy insiders have publicly spoken about the “Think Like A Man” author’s true feelings about Bernie from their perspective.

D.L. said during his interview with DJ Vlad in 2018 that the beef between Steve and Bernie stopped a sequel from being done. According to the fellow “Kings of Comedy” star, Steve was the top dog and was getting a lot of mainstream success, “and then Bernie started to get it,” which became a problem.

The third “King of Comedy,” Cedric claims they pushed through their differences on the original tour but the tension blocked them from doing a second comedy tour.

“They both alpha males. They both…they just saw it different,” he explained. “But at the end of the day, they was able to get through it.”

Radio personality Ed Lover confirmed the tension when he heard that Steve wanted Bernie’s role in “Ocean’s Eleven” and even told the producers he was willing to take less money to play the role of Frank Catton.

“All I can say is what Bernie told me,” the “Yo! MTV Raps host” said during an interivew on “The Culture Club Uncensored.” “And he was upset with Steve because he said Steve tried to get him taken off of Ocean’s — the Ocean’s movie he did … and tried to vie for his part after he already got hired. And, uh, Bernie never lied to me. That’s all I’m going to say. He was my friend. I loved him.”

Katt took it a step further in his interview on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast. He claims he turned down the chance to do “Kings of Comedy 2” because of the way that Steve “s—ted on Bernie.”

The “Pimpin’ Pimpin’” comedian said Steve started a narrative that he went last because he was funnier than Bernie. According to Katt, Steve didn’t share with many that it was his tour and that was why he ended the show.

“The reason you were supposed to go last because it was your tour, tell the truth,” he said. “It was Steve’s tour… These are the guys opening for him. Of course, you got to close if it’s your tour.”

Until “he humbles himself,” Katt said Steve will forever be “kinged by the king” Mac.

“That man was funnier than all of y’all and y’all thought y’all had one over on him,” he explained. “You thought he was black and ugly and you were good looking and he couldn’t make it because you did … and that ain’t the way comedy work. The king is the funniest.”

Bernie Mac’s daughter, Je’Niece McCullough, that she knew that the industry was cutthroat and that people just didn’t get along during a video taken while on Instagram Live.

She said that her dad knew that a lot of people didn’t like or appreciate him, giving her this tidbit of advice: “If you ever want to be loved by anyone… If you ever want to be special … just die.”

Bernie Mac passed away on Aug. 9, 2008, which was about eight years after the conclusion of the “Kings of Comedy” tour. He was 50. The tour ended in early 2000, marking the last time Steve and Bernie worked together.

Elections européennes 2024 : le petit guide pour tout comprendre

Le vote, qui se déroule du 6 au 9 juin, n’est que la première étape d’un processus qui aboutit à la désignation de la Commission européenne.

Du 6 au 9 juin 2024, tous les Européens sont appelés aux urnes pour les élections européennes. Si on dit « les élections », c’est qu’il y en a plusieurs : vingt-sept scrutins, répartis sur quatre jours, dans autant de pays – contre vingt-huit en 2019, le Royaume-Uni ayant quitté l’Union depuis. Cette élection à un seul tour a pour but de désigner un contingent national de représentants, les eurodéputés, du Parlement européen.

1. En France, 81 eurodéputés élus

Les électeurs français voteront dimanche 9 juin (dès le 8 juin, dans certains territoires d’outre-mer), lors d’un scrutin à un seul tour. Ils auront le choix entre différentes listes de partis ou de coalitions, qui comportent chacune 81 noms . Ces listes doivent être déposées avant vendredi 17 mai .

→ Il n’est pas possible de barrer certains noms et d’en rajouter : vous devrez choisir une liste complète.

→ Des Européens qui n’ont pas la nationalité française ont le droit de se présenter sur une liste en France, et vice-versa, même si c'est assez rare dans la pratique.

Les résultats seront annoncés le soir même du 9 juin à partir de 20 heures. Toutes les listes qui obtiennent moins de 5 % des suffrages sont éliminées. Les autres se partagent les 81 sièges français au Parlement européen à la proportionnelle.

2. Au total, 720 eurodéputés issus de 27 pays

Une élection similaire a lieu dans les 26 autres pays européens, à quelques détails près. Le nombre d’eurodéputés dépend de la population du pays : la nation la plus peuplée, l’Allemagne, en élit 96, contre seulement 6 pour Malte ou pour le Luxembourg. Selon les traditions électorales de chaque pays, les votes s’effectuent entre le 6 et le 9 juin.

En 2023, les eurodéputés ont voté le passage de 705 à 720 élus au Parlement . Cette augmentation profite à douze pays, notamment l’Espagne, la France et les Pays-Bas, qui gagnent chacun deux sièges par rapport à la précédente législature.

Le Parlement européen comptait 751 sièges en 2019, mais la mise en application du Brexit a conduit au départ des 73 eurodéputés britanniques – 27 de ces sièges laissés vacants ont alors été répartis entre les autres pays, les sièges restants constituant une réserve en cas d’élargissement.

3. La composition des groupes politiques

Du 16 au 19 juillet, les 81 députés français arriveront au Parlement, aux côtés de leurs homologues des 26 autres pays de l’UE. Pour fonctionner, l’assemblée a besoin de se structurer en groupes politiques, qui auront chacun un temps de parole et des places attribuées aux postes-clés. Les députés des différents pays se regroupent donc par affinités politiques pour constituer des groupes parlementaires .

4. L’élection du président du Parlement

Le Parlement est presque en place, mais il manque encore un détail : il faut élire un président ou une présidente. Comme la désignation se fait par une  élection à la majorité absolue  par les députés, le groupe qui compte le plus d’eurodéputés aura de grandes chances d’obtenir la présidence du Parlement.

→ Le président a un rôle de représentation, mais aussi un véritable poids sur l’ordre du jour et les initiatives du Parlement européen, un peu comme celui de l’Assemblée nationale, en France.

→ La Maltaise Roberta Metsola, qui a pris l’intérim de l’Italien David Sassoli après son décès, le 11 janvier 2022, est officiellement présidente élue du Parlement européen depuis le 3 janvier 2023.

5. L’installation de la Commission européenne

Après les élections des eurodéputés, il faut encore renouveler la direction de la Commission européenne, le gouvernement de l’Union européenne, en choisissant d’abord son président.

Durant l’été, les différents gouvernements européens se mettent d’accord pour proposer un candidat ou une candidate pour ce poste. Ce nom doit être suffisamment consensuel pour être approuvé par une coalition majoritaire de députés européens, qui votent pour valider cette nomination, après avoir auditionné les personnalités qui se sont portées candidates.

→ La procédure de désignation du président de la Commission est assez incertaine. Elle a longtemps été discrétionnaire. Depuis l’entrée en vigueur du traité de Lisbonne, en décembre 2009, les textes européens précisent que le nom proposé par les gouvernements doit « tenir compte du résultat des élections européennes ».

→ Doit-il s’agir du chef de file (  spitzenkandidat  ) du groupe parlementaire arrivé en tête ? Ce fut le cas en 2014, avec la désignation de Jean-Claude Juncker, chef de file du PPE, mais pas en 2019, où Ursula von der Leyen, alors ministre de la défense allemande, a été élue sur suggestion de Paris et de Berlin.

→ Avant même la tenue du scrutin, Ursula von der Leyen a fait part de son souhait de conserver son mandat de présidente de la Commission européenne. Pour être reconduite, elle devra d’abord être nommée à la majorité qualifiée par les dirigeants des vingt-sept Etats membres de l’UE. Elle devra ensuite être investie par au moins 361 des 720 nouveaux élus du Parlement européen.

Les scénarios possibles

Manfred Weber

Si les conservateurs du PPE arrivent en tête , comme cela a été le cas lors des cinq précédentes élections, ils proposeront la reconduction de leur tête de liste, Ursula von der Leyen , pour présider la Commission européenne. Néanmoins, pour des désaccords sur la question agricole, Les Républicains ont annoncé qu’ils ne la soutiendraient pas, même s’ils appartiennent à la même union.

Franz Timmermans

Si les sociaux-démocrates du S&D arrivent en tête , ils proposeront le Luxembourgeois Nicolas Schmit . Cet ancien ministre du travail et de l’emploi du Luxembourg est commissaire européen à l’emploi et aux droits sociaux depuis décembre 2019.

Si le scrutin est dominé par les libéraux de Renew Europe , à laquelle appartient les macronistes français, ils pourraient soutenir la Française Valérie Hayer, l’ancien ministre italien devenu eurodéputé français Sandro Gozi ou la députée allemande Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann. Emmanuel Macron s’est toutefois déclaré hostile au système de candidats choisis par les familles politiques, et pourrait pousser pour un candidat de compromis.

Ska Keller et Bas Eickhout

Certains autres grands partis européens ont désigné des candidats à la présidence de la Commission européenne, même s'il est très improbable qu'ils parviennent à réunir une coalition majoritaire.

Les Verts ont choisi les eurodéputés allemande et néerlandais Ska Keller et Bas Eickhout .

La gauche radicale (GUE/NGL) a investi l'eurodéputée slovène Violeta Tomič et le syndicaliste belge Nico Cué .

Si personne ne parvient à rassembler une majorité sur son nom , des négociations s'engageront entre les principaux partis pour trouver un candidat de consensus. On évoque les noms de Michel Barnier (ancien ministre français de droite, négociateur en chef du Brexit) ou de Margrethe Vestager (une libérale danoise, actuelle vice-présidente de la Commission).

A la fin de l’été, chaque gouvernement européen propose un de ses ressortissants pour entrer à la Commission européenne. A partir de cette liste de 26 noms, le président ou la présidente de la Commission répartit à sa guise les portefeuilles (culture, environnement, commerce, fiscalité…), comme un premier ministre composant son gouvernement.

Chacun des nouveaux commissaires est auditionné individuellement par le Parlement européen, qui a le pouvoir de rejeter une nomination si elle ne lui convient pas.
