Regent Seven Seas Cruises fleet

Seven seas grandeur, seven seas splendor, seven seas explorer, seven seas voyager, seven seas mariner, seven seas navigator, review of regent seven seas cruises.

Regent Cruises (officially RSSC-Regent Seven Seas Cruises, rssc.com ) is a top-luxury cruise line and trademarked travel brand (fka "Radisson Seven Seas"). RSSC's current owner is NCLH (Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings) - also the owner of the subsidiaries / sister-brands NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line  and Oceania Cruises . RSSC's headquarters address is "1000 Corporate Drive, Suite 500, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33334 USA".

The RSSC ships are medium-size top luxury passenger ships, with a capacity of up to 700 guests each, all 6-star rated all-suite all-balcony vessels. Regent offers a generous space-to-guest ratio of over 70, and a staff-to-guest ratio of 1/1,6 - some of the best ratios in the industry. Regent cruise ships offer some of the world's best, all-inclusive luxury cruise deals. These are also among the most expensive cruise vessels in the world.

All Regent ships are named with the prefix "Seven Seas", connotating all the world's oceans. The name is a most proper one, especially for the Voyager - an ex-USSR's Navy ice-class ship-to-be. Bought as a hull, she is now one of the most recognizable top luxury passenger ships, sailing all the Seven Seas of the World.

The Regent brand serves a clientele of predominantly affluent, middle-aged and older travelers, who expect a quiet and relaxing atmosphere and sophistication on board. The brand line is the epitome for impeccable service of the highest standards. RSSC's all-inclusive vacation packages offer care-free world cruising in an ambiance of luxury, quality, and value.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises ships

RSSC is well-appreciated also as one of the best cruise brands for families celebrating anniversaries and birthdays. The top-luxury RSSC ships enjoy some of the highest passenger loyalty rates.

On June 6, 2022, NCLH announced an expansion of its fleetwide sustainability program "Sail & Sustain". Extending its animal welfare policy, the shipowner is now fully committed to responsible animal food sourcing practices (regarding pork, chicken, eggs, and seafood) within the global fleet's supply chain. The goal is by the year 2025, fleetwide (NCL, Oceania, Regent) to be sourced only cage-free eggs, crate-free pork, certified sustainable seafood, and chicken purchased from American and Canadian suppliers who meet GAP (Global Animal Partnership) standards.

In late-June 2022, RSSC announced a new Italian menu to be introduced in November 2023 (on the newbuild Grandeur ) and later rolled out fleetwide. The new menu (developed for the Italian restaurant chain Sette Mari) includes items like Bruschetta al pomodoro (tomato), Cavatelli ai frutti di mare (filled pasta), Zucchini alla poverella, Insalata di Panzanella (bread salad) alla Masseria Salamina (17th-century castle in Fasano), Cozze gratinate al forno (stuffed mussels), Branzino in agrodolce (spigola in sweet-and-sour sauce), Pasticcini alla mandorle (Sicilian baked sweets), Chef Nino's Cioppino (fish stew), focaccia con pomodorini (Italian flat bread made with olive oil and flavoured with herbs).

Since January 2023, RSSC's President is Andrea DeMarco, who succeeded Jason Montague. Regent's and Oceania's Presidents both report to NCL's President (currently Harry Sommer).

In 2023 was launched the "Epicurean Perfection" culinary program grouping specially curated "Epicurean Spotlight Voyages". On select sailings, RSSC schedules food & wine-themed shipboard and land-based events like culinary-themed land tours and onboard cooking classes, tastings and food & wine pairings hosted by celebrity chefs and held at the ship's specialty restaurants.

Ship refurbishments

In January 2016, an USD 125 million drydock refurbishment plan was revealed for 3 ships in the RSSC fleet. The aim was to bring the vessels in line with the new Seven Seas Explorer (launched in 2016). The 2-year fleet upgrade plan started with the smallest 490-passenger Seven Seas Navigator (April 2016). Seven Seas Voyager was next (2016), followed by Seven Seas Mariner (2017).

The list of numerous onboard renovations included refurbishing of most public spaces, a complete redesign of all staterooms, ship technology, and equipment upgrades. After the fleet renovation program was completed, RSSC started offering free unlimited Internet and Wi-Fi to all cruise passengers (regardless of cabin categories).

As a top-luxury, all-inclusive cruise line, RSSC provides deals inclusive of beverages (including fine wines and premium spirits) and cruise fares with included shore excursions and crew gratuities. RSSC's newly expanded shore excursions program offers complimentary 3-night land tours in new locations (Cape Town South Africa, Hong Kong, and Beijing China, Angkor Wat Cambodia). The land tour experience features African safaris, China's Great Wall, an elephant camp in Thailand.

Since 2024, RSSC's standard all-inclusive package doesn't include flights and land transfers, and the company now offers the optional "ultimate all-inclusive" fare. It covers flights, bus transfers (airport-ship-airport) and private chauffeur credit (up to US$500, used for home-airport transfers or upgraded bus transfers).

On February 11, 2019, RSSC announced its partnership with Vero Water (eco-friendly bottled water supplier) to eliminate all single-use plastic bottles fleetwide. In the period April-June 2019, all Regent cruise liners were outfitted with Vero Water (onboard purification) systems eliminating ~2 million plastic bottles annually. Project's implementation schedule for 2019 included the ships Voyager (April 5), Explorer (April 8), Mariner (June 5) and Navigator (June 18). All RSSC cruise customers are provided complimentary with re-useable Vero Water bottles (Regent-branded, 1 per person) to be used ashore and after the voyage to take home as a souvenir.

Naturally, the upgraded shipboard menus target mainly vegetarian and vegan passengers. The new dishes include:

According to statistics, 9 of 10 plant-based meals are eaten by no-vegans, and luxury travelers are increasingly interested in plant-based fare. RSSC's 200 plant-based food selections are integrated into ship's daily menus, instead of listed on separate menus. The offerings were developed by the company's VP of Food and Beverage - Bernhard Klotz, in cooperation with celebrity chef Christophe Berg.

RSSC cruises to Cuba

RSSC was the only North American luxury travel brand that was granted permission to offer cruises to Cuba. More visits to the unique Caribbean island country were added for season 2020, but the schedule was canceled due to the pandemic.

Note: According to the current Cuban law, US citizens of Cuban origin (born in Cuba) are not allowed to visit the island country (including on cruise ships). Regardless of their US citizenship status, Cuban-born Americans were denied booking on cruise itineraries visiting ports in Cuba. However, the situation changed in April 2016, after Carnival Corporation negotiated with the Cuban government for allowing ships with Cuban-born passengers, as such US citizens are allowed to visit the country on USA-Cuba charter flights. The Carnival-fathom line started Miami to Cuba cruises in May 2016.

Alaska Airlines offers regular nonstop flights to Havana from Los Angeles (California USA). An 80-min ling JetBlue flight from Fort Lauderdale (Florida) to Havana costs less than USD 100. Previously, air travel from the USA to Cuba was thought charter flights only.

Five essential things to know before you cruise with Regent Seven Seas

S ailing to more than 500 ports around the world, Regent Seven Seas Cruises (RSSC) is headquartered in Miami, Florida and is a subsidiary of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, which also owns Norwegian Cruise Line and Oceania Cruises.

RSSC is known for being a luxury line. Ships slot into the “mid-size” category and almost every suite across the six-ship fleet has a private balcony. Passengers can expect luxurious spas, no-expense-spared art collections, a handful of standout restaurants and, on newer vessels, stylish bars with individual cocktail menus. Attention to detail is high and cuisine is on a par with the types of restaurants the line’s well-heeled and well-travelled passengers will be visiting at home, with a sit-where-you-like policy.

In-depth excursions are a big part of the Regent cruising experience. For a little bit extra, special-interest options are appealing to spa-goers, foodies and wildlife lovers. Examples include a visit to a sloth rehabilitation centre in Costa Rica , a soak at thermal springs in  Rome and yoga overlooking Taormina in  Sicily .

The line is fully inclusive, with shore experiences, fine wine and spirits, tips, 24-hour room service, a valet laundry service, unlimited Wi-Fi included and, depending on the cabin category, business-class flights and a pre-cruise luxury hotel night. Solo travellers pay a supplement, but there are offers on some voyages. Similarly, there are savings for children aged 17 and under on some cruises.

Onboard, expect theatre productions, talks, boutiques, a beauty salon, a small casino, and maybe a paddle court and putting green. Executive chef Kathryn Kelly oversees the popular Culinary Arts Kitchen on Seven Seas Grandeur, Explorer and Splendor.

Prestige, the first new ship class for RSSC in a decade, will launch in 2026. A sister ship to Prestige is slated for 2029.

1. Where does it cruise?

From the Amazon and  Australia to Cannes and Kyoto, there’s a huge range of destinations and types of cruises.

As well as offering holidays to Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, North America, the Caribbean, the South Pacific and Central and South America, RSSC offers transoceanic sailings, Grand Journeys and World Cruises. Cruises range from seven days to 150 nights.

Transoceanic cruises include sailing from  Rio de Janeiro to  Lisbon in March and a cruise from  Barcelona  to  Miami in November. The 154-night World Cruise from Miami in January 2026 visits 41 countries.

Fancy a trip across the Indian Ocean from Madagascar to the Seychelles? Peruse the four Grand Voyages on offer for 2026-27. These epic journeys range from 60 to 82 nights and call at ports in Asia, Africa and Europe.

In June 2025 there is one departure from Southampton – a 12-night cruise to Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

2. Who does it appeal to?

Longer sailings attract a time-rich older demographic who want to see the world in style. Given the exciting range of destinations on offer, shorter itineraries could work for discerning younger sailors and multi-generational families.

3. The Regent Seven Seas Cruises fleet

Seven Seas Grandeur (744 passengers)

The newest ship in the fleet is a dazzler. Cabin categories across the 10-deck ship range from the entry-level veranda suites to the palatial, $11,000-a-night (£8,300) Regent suite. Guests can eat at eight restaurants, including five (complimentary) speciality restaurants, and visit the spa for a treatment or to relax on the deck in one of three whirlpool spas.

The jewel in Grandeur’s multimillion-dollar art collection is a custom Fabergé egg . Other highlights include multiple works by Picasso and a custom-made bronze and hand-cast glass bonsai cherry tree outside the Asian-fusion restaurant, Pacific Rim.

Seven Seas Splendor (746 passengers)

Splendor joined Regent’s fleet in early 2020 and is sister to the luxurious Seven Seas Explorer. The 10-deck ship features a $5 million (£3.7 million) art collection, more than 500 crystal chandeliers and a two-deck Constellation Theatre. Eight restaurants include Sette Mari at La Veranda, where guests can eat gourmet Italian cuisine at over-water alcove seating.

Seven Seas Explorer (746 passengers)

Christened by HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco in 2016, the $450 million (£340 million) Explorer arrived with several head-turning cruising firsts, including the most expensive suite at sea, featuring an in-room spa retreat.

The 10-deck Explorer features 473 handmade chandeliers, artwork by Chagall and Picasso, 400 Versace place settings and a suite by the furniture designer Dakota Jackson. Channel 5 filmed an eight-part documentary onboard:  Secrets of the World’s Most Expensive Cruise Ship .

Seven Seas Voyager (698 passengers)

The nine-deck Voyager launched in 2003 and was refurbished in 2016. The ship has three lounges, balcony suites and several of the restaurants offered by the newer siblings, including the elegant, Parisian-style Chartreuse and the flagship Compass Rose. There’s also a pool grill.

Seven Seas Mariner (700 passengers)

The eight-deck ship has fewer passengers than its larger siblings. At launch, Mariner was the world’s first all-suite, all-balcony ship – a big deal in 2001. It was refurbished in 2018 and offers several of the restaurants offered by its newer (slightly larger) siblings, including Chartreuse and Prime 7.

Seven Seas Navigator (496 passengers)

The eight-deck Seven Seas Navigator launched in 1999 and, with refurbishments, has stood the test of time. Some 90 per cent of the cabins have balconies – check before booking. Guests can enjoy a cocktail in one of three lounges and dine at Prime 7 steakhouse, Compass Rose and La Veranda.

4. Accessibility

Seven Seas Mariner is the most well-equipped, but Explorer, Voyager and Navigator also have accessible suites. For detailed information and cabin specifications, visit rssc.com .

5. Loyalty Scheme

After the first cruise passengers are enrolled into the Seven Seas Society, there is a tiered membership scheme offering a sliding scale of benefits.

Here's our review of Regent Seven Seas Cruises' newest luxury ship, Seven Seas Grandeur.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises, voted one of Travel + Leisure readers' favorite midsize-ship ocean cruise lines in our 2023 World's Best Awards , is well-known for incredible service and an all-inclusive rate that includes everything from business-class flights to unlimited shore excursions. The luxury cruise line's sixth ship, the Seven Seas Grandeur, set sail for its inaugural season at the end of 2024. The ship was named one of T+L's best places to travel in 2024 , and I was on board the ship’s three-night christening sailing for a first look inside the stunning new vessel.

It was clear from the moment my mom and I stepped on board that one of the ship’s greatest luxuries — beyond fine dining, a multimillion-dollar art collection, and gorgeous common areas — is space. With a maximum of 746 guests per sailing, Grandeur is a far cry from mega-ships where pool crowds and buffet lines are the norm. With spacious all-suite, all-balcony accommodations and intimate specialty restaurants, the ship felt lively but never crowded. Designed by Studio DADO, the ship's dazzling common areas are decorated with a 1,600-piece art collection including multiple Picassos and the first-ever Fabergé Egg to be permanently installed at sea. (Sarah Fabergé, founding member of The Fabergé Heritage Council and great-granddaughter of Peter Carl Fabergé, is the ship’s godmother.)

Elizabeth Rhodes/Travel + Leisure

  • All-suite, all-balcony accommodations provide thoughtful touches and ample space to spread out.
  • Seven dining venues — including signature restaurant Compass Rose, Asian-inspired Pacific Rim, and more — offer 130 new dishes, including many plant-based options.
  • A 1,600-piece art collection includes “Journey in Jewels,” the first Fabergé Egg to permanently reside on a cruise ship.
  • Regent is an all-inclusive cruise line, so everything from flights and unlimited shore excursions to alcoholic beverages, valet laundry service, and dining at specialty restaurants are included in the rate.

While cruises are often about the ports of call, the Seven Seas Grandeur — sibling ship to RSSC's Seven Seas Explorer and Seven Seas Splendor , is a destination in itself. In fact, although my mom and I were tempted by the unlimited included shore excursions at our port in the Bahamas, we opted to stay on board to experience every amenity the ship had to offer.

Here, my review of the Regent Seven Seas Grandeur .

On Grandeur , 373 guest accommodations range from the entry-level Veranda Suites to the one-of-a-kind, 4,443-square-foot Regent Suite. Deluxe Veranda and Veranda Suites offer up to 361 square feet of space, outfitted with upscale finishes and, of course, their own balconies. I stayed in a Concierge Suite, of which there are 140 on board. With a super-comfortable Elite Slumber bed facing the balcony, a very spacious walk-in closet, and a bathroom with two sinks, a shower, and a separate tub, this suite offered plenty of storage and lots of room to spread out.

Besides the bright and open design in ocean-inspired hues of blue and cream, I loved the attention to detail in my suite, down to the field glasses sitting in the cabinet, ready to help you spot wildlife or faraway islands. The two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath Regent Suite, priced at $11,000 per night, offers spectacular amenities including its own hot tub, unlimited spa services offered in-suite, and private dining in a room hidden between two of the ship’s specialty restaurants.

There are seven unique dining venues and several bars located throughout the ship, and specialty restaurants are included in the rate. Over 130 new dishes were added to the menus on Grandeur , and there are more than 200 plant-based options served across the ship for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Compass Rose, Regent’s signature restaurant, received a gorgeous transformation by Studio DADO for Grandeur ; behind a metal waterfall-like sculpture, guests will find an illuminated dining room that resembles a magical forest.

Prime 7 is the ship’s steakhouse, redesigned with influences from New York City’s classic 20th-century steakhouses. Chartreuse celebrates classic French cooking and glamour with a dining room inspired by the Parisian metro’s art nouveau stations and Coco Chanel’s designs. The entrance to Pacific Rim, a pan-Asian specialty restaurant serving sushi, dim sum, and more, is marked by an impressive bonsai cherry tree sculpture by Savoy Studios.

La Veranda is the ship’s main buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch; during our sailing, we enjoyed sushi, lobster, paella, salads, and a very delicious cronut during casual meals here. In the evening, La Veranda becomes Sette Mari at La Veranda, a table-service restaurant serving Italian food. If you want a classic cheeseburger, lobster nachos, or a Korean fried chicken sandwich — or even just a milkshake by the pool — the Pool Grill has you covered with relaxed al fresco eats. And the baristas at Coffee Connection are ready to make your espresso drinks just the way you like them. On our third day, the barista actually had my mom’s coffee ready as soon as she sat down — she didn’t even have to order, he just remembered how she liked it.

Of course, if you’d rather take your meals in your beautiful suite, you can also enjoy included room service 24 hours a day.

There are several bars and lounges on board, too: The Meridian Lounge, where you’ll find daily afternoon tea service (a personal favorite) and live entertainment in the evenings; the lively Grandeur Lounge located across from the casino; and the Observation Lounge, with incredible ocean views during the day and live piano at night.

Where Regent Seven Seas Grandeur Sails

Regent Seven Seas Grandeur will spend its nearly sold-out 2024 sailing the Caribbean, Central America, North America, and Europe; itineraries range from seven to 16 nights. This summer, a seven-night Mediterranean Sea cruise will visit ports in Italy, Malta, and Spain, for example.  Later in the season, a 10-night roundtrip cruise from Miami will include stops in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, St. Barts, Antigua, and the British Virgin Islands.

Regent includes unlimited shore excursions on every sailing so guests can take full advantage of what each port has to offer. On our cruise to Freeport, Bahamas, excursions included swimming with the pigs at a local beach, relaxing at a nearby resort, snorkeling, touring Grand Bahama Island on a Jeep safari, and more. You can find a list of shore excursions on the Regent website for each port before booking, and you can book them online starting at 365 days before your cruise if you booked a suite with concierge amenities or 300 days in advance without concierge benefits. While there are typically several free options for every port, Regent Choice Shore Excursions are also available for an additional charge.

Amenities and Entertainment

With a turquoise pool surrounded by dozens of sun loungers, several hot tubs, outdoor sports courts, and a host of daily activities ranging from trivia to live entertainment, there’s plenty to do on board the Regent Seven Seas Grandeur . Starting at the top on Deck 12, a bocce court, pickleball court, shuffleboard, a golf net, and a putting green with holes inspired by famous golf courses around the world offer fun ways to soak in the ocean views on a sea day. The Observation Lounge, Card Room, Connoisseur Club, and Library (with countless travel books stocked so you can read all about your next destination) on Deck 11 are cozy spots to unwind.

The Culinary Arts Kitchen — Regent’s cooking school at sea — is a gorgeous space where guests can learn how to make dishes inspired by the places they’re sailing to — without having to do any of the prep work or clean up. I took a class and learned how to make pasta al limone and crepes; I loved the hands-on instruction and picked up a few helpful tips to use when I cook at home.

The Serene Spa and Wellness section of the ship on Decks 5 and 6 includes a number of treatment rooms (including one with an amber and quartz bed), a gym with workout classes and fitness consultations, and a hydrothermal suite with a sauna, steam room, chill room, and experiential showers. There’s also an outdoor relaxation area with three whirlpools looking back over water; this was one of my favorite places to spend time admiring the ocean during our three-night cruise.

Split between Decks 4 and 5 is the Constellation Theater, the main entertainment venue where guests can watch four Broadway-style shows. I was thoroughly entertained by the "Marauder’s Ball," a pirate adventure told through pop songs and classic swashbuckling tunes. Also on Deck 4, guests can shop around the boutiques, play slots or table games at the glitzy casino, or hang out in the Grandeur Lounge.

Guests can also learn about some of the works in the ship’s 1,600-piece art collection through a digital art tour offered through the Regent app.

Family-friendly Offerings

While not strictly an adults-only cruise line, Regent cruises are best for adults traveling without small children. The Club Mariner children’s program (for ages 5-17) is available on select sailings, but with many adult-focused spaces and entertainment, this ship is better suited for travelers without little ones. Under-16s are not allowed in the spa or fitness center.

There are a couple of handicap-accessible suites available on Grandeur featuring roll-in showers and other accessible features. There are elevators and ramps located throughout the common areas on the ship; I saw several guests navigating the ship using various mobility devices during my voyage.

Review: Regent Seven Seas Explorer

An atrium of a cruise ship.

What is the line? Regent Seven Seas

Name of ship? Seven Seas Explorer

Passenger occupancy? 746 passengers

Itinerary? Central America, through Mexico, Honduras, and Belize

Start out with the big picture—what is this cruise line known for? Regent Seven Seas is known for its luxe ships and amenities. The line has some of the largest suites at sea, with spacious verandas and bathrooms with marble-trimmed tubs. It’s also known for its swanky onboard art collections.

Tell us about the ship in general: It may have been built in 2015, but Seven Seas Explorer still feels as modern and fresh as many lines’ newest launches. Spaces on board are gracious and formal, with striking chandeliers made of crystal and hand-blown glass, as well as a world-class art collection featuring paintings by Picasso and Miró. There’s plenty of space and activities to keep passengers entertained across its 10 decks, but with less than 800 passengers, it’s a good middle ground for travelers who don’t love being in a crowd.

Who is onboard? Passengers on Seven Seas Explorer are mainly older couples and retirees, with a few honeymooners and several solo travelers sprinkled throughout as well.

Describe the cabins: Every stateroom on Seven Seas Explorer is a suite with a private balcony. Even the smallest are some of the most spacious at sea, with king-size beds, a lounge area, a double-bathroom vanity, and separate shower and tub—a rarity on cruise ships. The balcony is large enough for a chaise lounge and a table and chairs to enjoy a glass of wine (or maybe the complimentary bottle of Champagne left by your cabin steward upon arrival).

Tell us about the crew: The ship’s crew were white-gloved and formal; whether you’re ordering a four-course surf-and-turf meal in Prime 7 or you’re asking your cabin steward for a cup of peppermint tea before you go to bed, expect every detail to exude the ultimate hospitality.

What food and drink options are available on board? Seven Seas Explorer has 10 restaurants and bars: two main dining restaurants and three specialty restaurants. The specialty offerings include Prime 7, a premium steakhouse; Chartreuse, which specializes in modern French fine-dining; and Pacific Rim, a sleek Asian-fusion concept. Each specialty restaurant requires a reservation but does not cost extra. The standout for me was Pacific Rim, which serves decadent dishes like miso black cod wrapped in hoba leaf, Chinese barbecue pork ribs with char siu sauce, snow crab, and crispy duck spring rolls. One of the main dining options, Compass Rose, is no slouch either, with three-course seated table service and Versace tableware. There’s also a pool buffet, coffee shop, and breakfast buffet that transforms to an Italian outdoor restaurant for dinner.

As far as bars and lounges go, Seven Seas Explorer has you covered. Dip into the Meridian Lounge for a pre-dinner aperitif, hors d’oeuvres, and live piano music, or stop into the Observation Lounge for cocktails and dancing. The Connoisseurs' Club is a perfect spot to grab a cigar and a nightcap while chatting with fellow passengers until the wee hours. But, I think my favorite place to grab a drink was the pool bar, where tropical tipples are served in the sunshine around the ship’s striking plunge pool.

Is there a spa on board and is it worth visiting? The spa is certainly worth a visit on a sea day, or on a day when you might not feel like going into port. The treatment rooms are serene and secluded, and I received a top-notch massage. The spa also has amenities open to everyone on board at no charge, including an aromatherapy steam room, chill room, and infrared sauna. Right behind the spa on the aft deck of the ship is a small deck with an infinity pool, the perfect place to soak and watch the sunset after a relaxing treatment.

Activities and entertainment Regent’s fleet offers Broadway-caliber shows backed by a live five-piece orchestra in its plush Constellation Theater. Smaller-scale piano performances and the like also take place nightly in bars and lounges throughout the ship. On the sports deck you’ll also find a pickleball court, ping pong table, shuffleboard, putting green, and netted driving range bay.

How was the experience for families? There seemed to be relatively few children on board, but the Club Mariner Youth program features kids’ programming like dance parties or mini-putt tournaments for children ages five to 17.

Where did it sail and how were the excursions? Did anything stand out? Our voyage sailed roundtrip from Miami, calling upon Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; and Harvest Caye, Regent parent company Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island in Belize. Roatan was a particular highlight, as it’s a destination that’s complicated to reach if you’re not cruising. There was enough time in the day at port to soak up the gorgeous white-sand beaches, have a tour through the tropical forests, and sample local ceviche.

Are there any stand-out sustainability or green initiatives about this cruise? Every guest receives a Regent reusable water bottle, and the ship has plenty of refilling stations scattered around.

Finally, give a sentence or two on why the cruise is worth booking. If you’re looking for a cruise that offers a sense of elegance and pampering, a voyage aboard Regent Seven Seas Explorer is for you.

Fee to talk to Regent Custom Air Department

I had a question about the routing on my not-yet-accepted flights.  My Regent cruise consultant told me that as of today, I have to call the Regent Air Department instead of his handling it for me.  Not what I wanted to do, but I did it.  I got a recording that said I would have to pay $75 to talk to someone in the Air Department.   😳

Wow.  The nickel-and-diming has started….  Or did I misunderstand?

The $75 will be charged if you don't accept their proposed routing.  If you accept, it will be taken off of the usual $175 fee.  I do agree that this looks like part of the trend to increase fees, little by little, which IMHO flies directly in the face of Regent's all-inclusive policy and their increased cruise rates.

Anchorbuoy

Dear Valued Guest and Travel Advisor,

We pride ourselves on delivering the best possible service, and as we continue to work through challenges with air services due to the combination of strong demand for air travel, reduced airline capacity and major airline schedule changes, we have decided to revise our Custom Air policy to help reduce long call hold times to our Custom Air Department.

Currently, there is a $175 per person fee to customize fights through Regent’s Custom Air Department.

Beginning today, March 27, 2023, to speak directly to our Air Concierges a $75 non-refundable Custom Air call service fee will be applied to reservations which, if the Custom Air flight option presented is accepted within three days, will become part of the existing $175 per person air customization fee.

If guests choose not to accept the Custom Air flight option presented within 3 days, the option will be automatically canceled, and the $75 fee will not be refunded.

To accept the presented Custom Air flight options, guests can simply reply to the Custom Air email. It is not required to call Regent to confirm any Custom Air flight options.

After the Custom Air flight option expires, to search for additional flight options an additional $75 non-refundable fee will be added to the reservation.

Platinum, Titanium, Diamond, and Commodore guests will continue to receive a complimentary one-time Custom Air deviation.

Please note, schedule changes made by the airlines are outside of our control. If there is a significant change in schedule, our Air Concierge will find a better alternative without charging a new custom air fee.

What should I do before calling the Custom Air Department?

While our teams are committed to delivering An Unrivaled Experience from time of booking all the way through to your cruise and beyond, there are some considerations that will help us provide the best possible service.

Before calling our Custom Air Department, we recommend the following steps to allow you to finalize your air arrangements in one call.

·           Check availability online – this will show you flight options from your departure city. If the lowest business class fare does not show available, it is not likely available within our contracts.

·           Note any options that are your preferred schedule and routing - including the pricing of each of those flights.

·           Now that you have the price to purchase air independently, you can make an educated decision to use Regent air or book on your own, utilizing our air credit.

·           If you have a preferred carrier or route where Regent requires a price differential, you will also be able to decide between purchasing independent air and taking the air credit or accepting the differential to book the air with Regent. Regent does not profit on air differentials.

·           It helps to be flexible - can you travel an extra day or two prior or stay a day or two later?

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we provide a new solution to processing Custom Air requests efficiently, while delivering the best service possible.

I understand the problems they face, with a higher volume of calls to their air department due to ongoing airline industry turmoil (more frequent changes, reduced capacity). And I appreciate they want to try to cut down on long hold times. But I have never heard of a company — a luxury travel company, at that — charging a significant fee just for the privilege of calling them and speaking to a representative! Yikes. I hope this isn't the start of a new trend in customer service.

Agree, Horrible customer service - and if they offer you some crappy flights you still have to pay the $75.  What next a $75 charge to make a cruise booking?

Thanks

I wonder if they are charging travel agents to make the call ?

55 minutes ago, Lonedaddy said: I wonder if they are charging travel agents to make the call ?

The same email from Regent went to me and my travel agent. So I'd guess yes. But the charge isn't to the TA, it's to the customer's Regent account.

I didn't get the email, but assume that is because I do not have a cruise booked at the present time.  Have to say that this is a straw that breaks the relationship between Regent and my cruise account.

rcandkc

I think they are gently persuading us to do our own flights instead of dealing with them.

pappy1022

My goodness, this is ludicrous. Charging us to just talk to someone in customer service at Regent. The incentive on their part is to give us crappy flights so we have to call again and again and keep the $75 meter going. Surely they could have come up with a different process. Regent must be desperate to generate revenue to pay for all that debt they incurred during the height of COVID. They are rapidly losing their shine. Maybe this is the beginning of the end for luxury cruising. If people are abusing this process just limit the number of air deviations to 2 or 3 rounds and then charge for any additional customer service contacts.

41 minutes ago, rcandkc said: I think they are gently persuading us to do our own flights instead of dealing with them.

Gently? This looks more like a kick in the ………

4 minutes ago, pappy1022 said: Gently? This looks more like a kick in the ………

I was being lady like 😜

Haha

My specific facts are that the initial return routing the Air Department gave me included an 8 hour layover in EWR getting me home at midnight.  I sent them an alternate routing which would have been one 2.5 hour layover getting me home at 10p.  They responded with a 2 stop flight but didn’t include any ridiculously long layovers and gets me home at 10p.  Rather than pay $75 to reject whatever nonsense they would offer, I accepted the 2 stop offer.  I’m quite disappointed, but it probably is the best I was going to get out of them.

Nevertheless, it is my opinion that low cost carriers charge to speak to a human.  Is Regent on the road to becoming a Low Cost Carrier?

I think we are starting to see some cost cutting from the new management team. I suspect that people cost are a big part of their expenses and maybe they are trying to cut down on the number of calls because they intend to have fewer people manning the phones. I don’t know that for a fact but it sure feels like there is something going on with trying to make the NCL family more profitable. After all they are in business to make money. They as well as all other cruise lines that stayed in business have taken on a very large debt load and it’s time to start paying that back. It’s like a gigantic credit card and the interest keeps piling up. It’s worth keeping an eye out for other signs of reducing cost. I’ve been active on the Regent discussion boards for many years and it feels like recently there have been a lot more complaints about service and excursions than ever before. Maybe it’s a fallout from COVID times but it’s time to put that reason/excuse behind us.

Sometimes we use Regent air (November Navigator cruise), sometimes we don’t (April Explorer cruise). But we usually check with Regent to see what they propose for us. Not sure if $75 will change that, but we’ll certainly think about it before having our TA call.  Personally, I’d prefer they increased our fare by $75 and ditched this fee. We’d never be the wiser. 😳

irishwitchy

We never have taken Regent Air, no change or charge for me.

A different perspective…..

We are Titanium ( many short to medium cruises ) but due to not living in the States or Canada have never had the luxury of included flights. Instead given a flight credit which no way was the full cost of our air. I would be more than happy to pay to talk to Regent to sort out our included flights.

Are these the decisions of a luxury cruise line?  I don't know whether to be surprised or disappointed.

Regent got in a pickle when air prices went up and capacity decreased.  The air credit is a joke compared to what it costs now and they are contractually bound by their lack of planning.  So they are trying to force people in to booking their own air, at a much higher cost than their credit because they are hemorrhaging trying to find air contracts for what their credit is. They screwed up and are now trying to make their customers pay.  This will cost them and the brand they worked hard to get.  Reminds me of coach selling their branded products without the same quality at outlet malls.

the included biz air was a big plus but now it is not and if you make me get my own I’ll definitely look at silverseas seaborn and others as regent decided to offer rotten apples to apples.

What they need is more staff, problem solved!

I didn't think we needed any particular flights since I didn't see any bad ones. However, I am a little worried that they will not get us to our destination one day before boarding. Has anyone ever experienced Regent not booking air to a destination in time to use the included hotel?

100 percent correct on the point especially on Biz air.   Our included air is $4500 RT to Japan for March 2024.   Can you purchase any biztickets to Japan during the main spring tourist season for $4500 ?  The current air credit for new bookings is now $6400, with the associated increase in the cruise price.  Cheapest DIY air so far has been $6000 with most at 8k.  Someone has to pay for that delta -- won't be me.

Of course with all of the schedule changes the Air department is very busy with this aspect.

Just gotta ask... how exactly did Regent "screw up?"  How was Regent, in 2020 or 2021 to know that fuel costs for airlines would rise, pilots would be at a shortage, and travel would be at a maximum in 2023?  Honestly, if you read the email (we got one for each cruise we have booked) it only affects flight deviations and only if you don't accept any of their deviations.  So if you call Regent to book a flight deviation you pay $75.  They give you all your options, if you agree with one, which is most likely why you called in the first place, you pay an additional $100 for the same total of $175 that has always been charged.  I'm pretty sure that this policy won't be much of a windfall, but might free up the phone lines.

No, I don't like it either, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.  My wife and I went out for dinner last night. We shared an appetizer then she ordered 2 sides for a "main" and I ordered an appetizer and one side for a "main," we had 2 drinks each (wine for her, a cocktail for me).  The bill was over $90.  If I call Regent and don't accept their air offer I'll just eat at home one night instead of dinner out.

I’m not sure why Regent is implementing this change. Is it to save money by reducing staff, to discourage customers who take advantage of the system by going back time and time again to arrange flights, or those people who take up a lot of their time looking for options only to take the credit and do their own thing? Or is it something else? Regent has contracted rates with the airlines. I don’t know what time period those rates are for but if they don’t coincide with the timing they publish their cruise rates for, it could be a problem for them. I’m sure we will never know the underlying reason for this change but it seems like a petty move on Regent’s part that is sure to get some customers riled up. Why would they do that for $100 when the cost of the cruise is tens of thousands of dollars? Are they starting to move away from an all inclusive model? Doesn’t seem like a smart customer relations move over a trivial amount of money.

When we first started sailing with Regent we just took their air offer to fly out of Atlanta, rather than Birmingham, and go from there.  Over time we found the two hour drive to Atlanta to be too much, so we switched to flying out of Birmingham.  This resulted in the air deviation charge.  We would investigate the best connections for us and offer that as an option to Regent.  After Covid, we had to do this all through our travel agent.  This new method is better because we can talk to Regent directly.  If someone doesn't want to pay the $75 or $175 extra on a multi 10's of thousands on a trip, then just let Regent pick your flights. It seems to me the $175 is a small  price to pay to get what you want.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises® Unveils New Spotlight Voyage with Annika Sörenstam, the Greatest Female Golfer of All Time

Record-breaking Hall of Famer Annika Sörenstam will Host Exclusive Spotlight Voyage Around Six of the UK’s Historic Golfing Greens in 2025

Optional Pre-Cruise Land Program Featuring Inaugural RSSC Golf Tournament

MIAMI, SEPTEMBER 11, 2024 - Regent Seven Seas Cruises® , the world’s leading ultra luxury cruise line, has announced a sensational 14-night Spotlight Voyage around the British and Irish Isles in Summer 2025, perfect for golf enthusiasts.

The Spotlight Voyage , hosted by Annika Sörenstam - widely considered to be the greatest female golfer of all time - will be on board the new Seven Seas Grandeur® , sailing June 23, 2025 roundtrip from Southampton, England.

During her 15-year Hall of Fame career, Sörenstam has amassed over 95 worldwide victories, including 11 Major Championships, and is the only female to break 60 in an official event, earning her the nickname “Ms. 59.” Most notably, Annika received global attention following her historic PGA Tour appearance - teeing off at the 2003 Colonial Invitational and becoming the first woman in over half a century to play in a PGA Tour event.

“We are always looking to create unforgettable experiences for our guests and so we are excited to welcome Annika Sörenstam on board Seven Seas Grandeur to host this incredibly special Spotlight Voyage ,” said Andrea DeMarco, President of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “Annika is widely recognized as the greatest female golfer of all time and having her host our Spotlight on Golf Voyage is a true privilege that will be sure to excite any golf enthusiast, while they enjoy the highest standards of exceptional service, unparalleled cuisine, and an all-inclusive ultra luxury vacation on board Seven Seas Grandeur .”

Immersing travelers into the worlds of luxury travel and competitive Championship golf, the cruise will visit some of golf’s most iconic destinations, home to Britain’s storied greens. Guests will be fully immersed in the centuries’ old sport with the opportunity to play on six prestigious courses including past British Open hosts Royal Lytham & St. Annes in England and the Turnberry’s Ailsa course in Scotland, plus The Strand Course at Portstewart Golf Club in Northern Ireland.

In addition, Regent Seven Seas Cruises has curated a two-night pre-cruise land program, creating a golfing trip like no other. After checking into The Goodwood Hotel, nestled in the rolling South Downs National Park in West Sussex, England, guests will enjoy beautiful surroundings and stunning rooms inspired by traditional British style. The next day, avid golfers can hit the links during the inaugural RSSC Golf Tournament at The Downs Golf Course.

Onboard, guests will enjoy personalized service from a friendly and professional crew, a range of specialty restaurants and al-fresco dining venues, fine wines and spirits, world-class entertainment, unlimited internet access, free valet laundry, pre-paid gratuities, transfers and one-night, pre-cruise hotel packages for guests staying in Concierge-level suites and above, all as part of Regent’s all-inclusive fare.

“I am thrilled to host this exclusive Spotlight Voyage with Regent,” said Annika Sörenstam. “I can’t wait to bring my family and share my passion and story with fellow golf lovers on board this incredible cruise around some of the most iconic golfing destinations in the world.”

Embarking from Southampton, England, there will be driving demos on Seven Seas Grandeur’s top deck, a chance to practice putting on the ship’s putting green, an on-board fashion show featuring Annika’s clothing partner, LOHLA Sport clothing, tea-time golf trivia, an in-course long game clinic and plenty of chances to tee off on some of Britain’s most iconic greens:

  • Formby Golf Club , host of 2009 Amateur Championship and 2021/2022 PGA Seniors Championship

The voyage will begin with a meet-and-greet cocktail party with Annika in the lavish Observation Lounge. Further opportunities to hear more of Annika’s story - from her famed career to her extensive philanthropic work - include a Fireside Chat Q&A in the Constellation Theatre where guests will be treated to a talk led by TV Personality John O’Hurley, to learn more about Annika’s life and career.

About Annika Sörenstam

Annika is often regarded as the greatest female golfer of all-time. During her 15-year, Hall-of-Fame career, she rewrote the LPGA and Ladies European Tour record books, won countless awards, and changed the way women’s golf was played, viewed and covered.

She has amassed over 95 worldwide victories, including 72 on the LPGA and 11 Major Championships. Annika holds a record number of Rolex Player of the Year awards (eight) and Vare Trophies for the lowest scoring average in a season (six). As the only female to break 60 in an official event, she has been nicknamed “Ms. 59.” Perhaps most notably, Annika received worldwide media attention when she became the first woman in 58 years to play in a PGA TOUR event at the 2003 Colonial Invitational.

Annika stepped away from professional golf after the 2008 season to focus on her family and the ANNIKA brand of businesses, which at the time included the ANNIKA Academy golf school, the ANNIKA Collection of high-end women’s golf apparel and ANNIKA Course Design. In 2007, she created the ANNIKA Foundation, which provides golf opportunities at the junior, collegiate and professional levels while teaching young people the importance of living a healthy, active lifestyle through fitness and nutrition.

It annually conducts six major golf events for aspiring junior girls: the Hilton Grand Vacations ANNIKA Invitational presented by Rolex; ANNIKA Invitational at Mission Hills in China; ANNIKA Invitational Europe and ANNIKA Cup in Sweden; the Women’s Amateur Latin America with The R&A in Argentina and the ANNIKA Invitational Australasia in New Zealand. Moreover, with the support of the Haskins Commission, the Foundation created the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel, which is given annually to the best collegiate female golfer. Since 2014, the Foundation has also annually hosted the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M, a college tournament featuring 12 top Division I schools.

In 2022, the ANNIKA Development Program was established in partnership with the ANNIKA Foundation and Old Barnwell, a private national golf club near Aiken, South Carolina to support college graduates who are pursuing professional golf careers. Four ANNIKA Ambassadors are selected per year and they receive access for three years to Old Barnwell, housing, financial assistance, training, and mentorship from Annika.

Each year, the Foundation also conducts up to five “Share My Passion” grass roots clinics designed to introduce kids to the game. And in November 2023, the Foundation became the main charitable beneficiary from The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, which became the only “namesake” tournament on the LPGA Tour, and the penultimate event of the season.

Over 600 girls from 60 different countries play ANNIKA Foundation events each year, and there are currently 200 ANNIKA Alumnae on the LPGA and EPSON Tours.

Her global success in golf and knowledge of business have enabled her to create a successful brand of businesses, which was featured in Duane Knapp’s book BrandStrategy , Inc. Annika’s brand has also been featured in Brandweek, the New York Times, Fortune Magazine, SportsBusiness Journal, Success Magazine, USA Today, and Wine Spectator to name a few non-golf publications.

Annika still tops the LPGA’s All-Time Money List. In 2021 she made her first start in an official LPGA tournament since 2008, making the cut in the 2021 Gainbridge LPGA. A few months later she captured the hearts of the golf world when she won the U.S. Senior Women’s Open by eight shots. It was her first United States Golf Association (USGA) event in 13 years and the victory gave her a fourth USGA title. What made it even more special was that her husband, Mike McGee, was caddying for her and her kids, Ava (9/1/2009) and Will (3/21/2011), were in the gallery to see her win for the first time.

She represented Europe as a player in eight Solheim Cups, was a vice-captain three times and captained the European team in 2017. She was also the victorious captain for the European Junior Solheim Cup team that came from a record four points down to win on U.S. soil for the first time in 2021.

Annika has received many accolades throughout her life. She was the recipient of the Patty Berg Award in 2003 for her contributions to women’s golf. She was the Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year from 2003-2005, and the Golf Writers Association of America Female Athlete of the Year in 1995, 1997 and from 2000-2005. She and Jack Nicklaus were named Global Ambassadors by the International Golf Federation to help with golf’s successful bid for inclusion in the 2016 Olympic Games. Annika won the USGA’s prestigious Bob Jones Award in 2011, which is presented annually to someone with distinct character on and off the course. In 2013, she was named the First Lady of Golf by the PGA of America.

In 2014 the LPGA, in partnership with Rolex, established the Rolex ANNIKA Major Award to recognize the player who, during a current LPGA Tour season, has the most outstanding record in all five major championships. In 2015, Annika was named the top female athlete of all-time in her home country of Sweden. In 2016 Annika received the KPMG Inspire Greatness Award from the KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit advisory council, with the support of the PGA of America and the LPGA. In 2016 Annika received the Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to the business of golf at the HSBC Golf Business Summit.

In 2020, Annika was elected the President of the International Golf Federation which oversees golf in the Olympic Games. In 2021, Annika became the first female golfer and only the third female in sport to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In 2023, she was the first LPGA professional to receive membership into the esteemed Augusta National Golf Club.

Annika is a very popular motivational speaker, and many corporate executives, CEOs and meeting planners utilize her talents to entertain important clients, reward top performing employees, and build camaraderie amongst their teams. Annika is a driven leader with a vast network of contacts throughout the world of business, sports and entertainment.

Annika represents world-class companies like 3M, AHEAD, AT&T, Bank of America, Callaway, Cabot Saint Lucia, Hilton Grand Vacations, LOHLA Sport, Mastercard, Rēvo, and Rolex. Her Twitter handle is @Annika59 and Instagram is @Annikas59. For more information: www.annikafoundation.org .
