Graduating Airmen/Guardians will receive town pass after graduation events.  They MUST return to their TRS by curfew.  Don’t be late!

San Antonio is the most visited city in Texas.  Top sights include the Alamo and other historic missions, the River Walk, SeaWorld San Antonio, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, the San Antonio Zoo, more than 40 golf courses, historic neighborhoods, stunning architecture, diverse culture, amazing cuisine, vibrant arts community and friendly people.

Things To Do On Base

Community Centers:  Skylark Community Center (next to the Skylark Bowling Center), is open to BMT Families Thursday from 1:00pm to 6:00pm.  It offers TV, movies, board games, pool tables, video games.

Southeast Asia Airpark (near the Airman Gate) & Global Airpark Museum (at the Parade Ground) Has outdoor displays of historical aircrafts.

Security Forces Exhibits (210.671.2615) This Museum is in the process of being consolidated with the Airman Heritage Museum which will result in a reduction in its hours of operation. It remains open for training and by appointment only until expanded hours of operation can be achieved.

You may rent a variety of games and sports equipment for a small fee daily. Lackland has several parks to relax and play a few games.

They also rent a canopy, ice chests, water jugs, tables and chairs, portable grills. Call to check on prices or click HERE .

Picnic on Base – Because the mini mall and places to eat on base are so crowed many people have suggested having a picnic. The parade grounds offer plenty of room for the little ones to run around and look at the planes. The Airmen/Guardians are not allowed to stand and eat so bring a sheet or blanket.  It gets extremely HOT so make sure you have a cooler filled with ice. You can purchase ice at one of the mini malls without having your Airman/Guardian with you. They take Mastercard and Visa. You may use cash at the mini malls.

Stillman Park

A great location for a picnic. They have tables, as well as trees that provide some shade if you bring along a sheet or blanket in your luggage.

JoyRun Food Delivery/Errand Service

JoyRun is a community delivery/errand app. They deliver from restaurants that normally wouldn’t deliver such as McDonalds, Chiptole, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chick-Fil-A and several other S.A. restaurants.  The thing that sets them apart from other delivery services is that they typically only deliver on base. That means many of their drivers are military affiliated; spouses, dependents, veterans and retirees.

General Store – Located inside the BMT Reception Center Building 7246.  Phone: 671-2028.  Hours of Operation – Thursdays 6:30 AM – 5 PM.  The General Store is open to all personnel, however, it caters to the BMT graduates’ friends and family members who are visiting for graduation.  The General Store offers a wide variety of Lackland, San Antonio and BMT Graduation souvenirs including: Golf shirts, t-shirts, caps, shot glasses, coffee mugs, coins, & plush animals. We also have an on-site Snack Bar available.

The first 72 hours:

When your son, daughter, spouse or friend arrives at San Antonio’s International Airport, they will be greeted by a BMT Reception Center Military Training Instructor (MTI). Newly arriving trainees are instructed to call home and let family know they safely arrived in San Antonio – regardless if your trainee called you when they first get off the plane. Your trainee will call again within a 72 hour period of arriving in San Antonio. The purpose of this phone call is to give you their mailing address the trainee will be using for the next 8 ½ weeks. Please prepare yourself mentally for the call as there is not time to chat and your trainee may seem very stressed or emotional. Rest assured your Trainee is just fine. We highly suggest you have a pen and paper ready during this time period. If for whatever reason you do not get the info (maybe it was too loud or bad connection) please do not panic. Your Trainee will be mailing home a postcard with their address.

Screen-reader and keyboard navigation

Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Here’s how our website covers some of the most important screen-reader requirements, alongside console screenshots of code examples:

Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside of it.

Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

• Epilepsy Safe Mode: this profile enables people with epilepsy to use the website safely by eliminating the risk of seizures that result from flashing or blinking animations and risky color combinations.
• Visually Impaired Mode: this mode adjusts the website for the convenience of users with visual impairments such as Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, Glaucoma, and others.
• Cognitive Disability Mode: this mode provides different assistive options to help users with cognitive impairments such as Dyslexia, Autism, CVA, and others, to focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.
• ADHD Friendly Mode: this mode helps users with ADHD and Neurodevelopmental disorders to read, browse, and focus on the main website elements more easily while significantly reducing distractions.
• Blindness Mode: this mode configures the website to be compatible with screen-readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. A screen-reader is software for blind users that is installed on a computer and smartphone, and websites must be compatible with it.
• Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor-Impaired): this profile enables motor-impaired persons to operate the website using the keyboard Tab, Shift+Tab, and the Enter keys. Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Additional UI, design, and readability adjustments

• Font adjustments – users, can increase and decrease its size, change its family (type), adjust the spacing, alignment, line height, and more.
• Color adjustments – users can select various color contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can swap color schemes of titles, texts, and backgrounds, with over 7 different coloring options.
• Animations – epileptic users can stop all running animations with the click of a button. Animations controlled by the interface include videos, GIFs, and CSS flashing transitions.
• Content highlighting – users can choose to emphasize important elements such as links and titles. They can also choose to highlight focused or hovered elements only.
• Audio muting – users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other issues due to automatic audio playing. This option lets users mute the entire website instantly.
• Cognitive disorders – we utilize a search engine that is linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
• Additional functions – we provide users the option to change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.

Browser and assistive technology compatibility

We aim to support the widest array of browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so our users can choose the best fitting tools for them, with as few limitations as possible. Therefore, we have worked very hard to be able to support all major systems that comprise over 95% of the user market share including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, JAWS and NVDA (screen readers), both for Windows and for MAC users.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use your services.

We work with all services to include Active Duty, Retirees, Reserves, Guard and DoD Civilians and Contractors. If you have access to the base, you have access to us and all that we do. However, for the “Special Military (SALUTE) tickets”, there are certain requirements. For those tickets, the only people eligible to purchase and activate are active duty and their spouse, retired and their spouse, 100% disabled and their spouse, and reservists and their spouse. For Universal tickets, the same customers are eligible as well as DoD civilians.

Do you book airfare?

We do book airfare. We are an actual travel agency as well (not all ITT offices offer it), so we can do it all.

Do you have packages?

We do not offer “Pre-Made” Packages as seen on the internet or TV. We customize packages to suit your individual needs and wants. Just let us know where and when you want to go and we will be happy to get you accurate rates for your package.

What do you have for "FREE"?

Your ITT does from time to time offer complimentary tickets for Military Appreciation to various events. Please check with us periodically for any Military Appreciation tickets we may have to offer. These complimentary tickets are handled as per Standard Operating Procedures for Distribution of Complimentary Tickets.
