If you need to make a change to your reservation and that change is allowed, please be aware that such change is subject to a fee of $150.00 per passenger for domestic flights, $200.00 for trans-border flights and $300.00 for all other flights. There may also be fees or differences in price charged by any third-party suppliers (e.g., airlines, hotels, cruise lines, etc.) included in your reservation. Please be aware that once you have made a reservation, name changes are not allowed. If you find you need to change or correct the spelling of a name after you’ve made a reservation, you will have to cancel your original reservation—if allowed—and then make a new reservation with a new flight at the then-current rate using the correct spelling of the name. This will likely incur fees and penalties. Therefore, it is imperative—and your responsibility—to verify the spelling of the names of all passengers before making your reservation. The rate applied on the date of issuance of the ticket is only valid for a ticket fully utilized and in the sequential order of flight segments on the dates indicated. Improper use may void the ticket and result in cancellation of the entire trip. Pricing is displayed in US currency.

Booking Amendments and Charges

Cancel & Exchange

Most of the aircraft tickets are non-refundable. In some situations where the carrier allows cancellation, then a credit might be considerable against future ticket by same traveler on the same airlines. This entire process may take 60-90 days from receipt of your request to receiving credit on your statement. Apart from the airlines and other suppliers refund penalties, traveljunctionus.com will charge a post-ticketing services fee, as applicable. All refund fees are charged on per-passenger, per-ticket basis. These fees will only be assessed if a refund has been authorized by the supplier or a waiver has been received and when the airline/supplier rules permit such refunds. If such refund is not processed by the supplier, we will refund you our post-ticketing service fees applicable to your agent assisted refund request , but not our booking fees for the original travel reservation or booking.

The company accept request under some of the guidelines such as follows:

  • If the ticketing fare rules will allow the cancellation on a particular booking, then only request will be accepted.
  • You should not be a NO SHOW passenger. In case, you are a NO SHOW and you are not allowed to board the airline, then you are not eligible for refund.
  • If refund is processed, it maximum takes up to 21 working days.

Cancellations / Amendments by the Travel Supplier

In the unlikely event that your flight is cancelled by the airline or tour operator, your rights and remedies will be governed by the supplier's conditions/ airline's conditions of carriage. As a result you may be entitled to: (a) carriage on another flight with the same airline without additional costs; (b) re-routing to your destination with another carrier without additional costs; (c) some other right or remedy, for example a future credit note, voucher, etc In the event of schedule changes made prior to commencement of your journey, it is not always necessary to have your tickets reissued or revalidated, but we will advise you should this be necessary. traveljunction.ca take no responsibility for any flight rescheduling en route.

Special request; seats, meals and frequent flyer

Please note that requesting specific seats, meals, frequent flyers etc. are requests only. The airline reserves the right to make revisions to the seat allocation without notification. All requests should be confirmed with the airline and we cannot guarantee that passengers will be assigned the seats they’ve requested. Furthermore, we are unable to promise that your meal/frequent flyer/other special requests will be confirmed by the airline in question. It is the end of April and still I have heard nothing from this company, despite their claims to take customer service seriously. They took my money for two flights to Vietnam, cancelled the flights 9 days before departure and have not returned our money or provided any compensation or an explanation. You have been warned. No need for phone call from rude worker

It was easy to book and got my email straight away confirming booking request and within 8-10 hours had my eticket However the following day I had a couple of missed calls from a number I didn’t recognize Then the day after (today) the same number called the man spoke poor English and was very abrupt He said he worked for travel junction and was confirming my booking, I understood him after 3 attempts. I have no idea why he called and tbh he made me pretty uncomfortable He also just hung up and was pretty rude throughout Like I said it would have been a positive review but for the phone call With so man call scammers operating these days the call was unnecessary And the worker who called rude and actually a little aggressive

“Awesome service”

OMG! Boy, was I sceptical to book my tickets with Flight Trotters and give them my credit card! Oh absolutely! I almost thought I am going to be scammed as I read the reviews on google after giving my credit card details to an agent called Jose (Saurabh). But he made sure that I trust him by calling me back in 10 minutes to confirm the tickets details and asked me to even verify them on official website of the airline (Turkish Airlines). He even gave contact number of another client from my city to confirm his legitimacy. It all turned out to be true and I had no issues with the purchase. I got my tickets at a great price and with the bare minimum travel or layover time. A happy customer from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

“Report police this business”

Anyone know how to report police this business to avoid scam for anyone? I'm a victim. A lot of thing happened but 1 last thing the jetblue airplane was cancel. I ask for refund but they didn't answer phone and email. I have a proof for you guy to see. 1 refund to travel bank. 1 refund for me because I have to pay my luggages If anyone can help. Please sue this company. If anyone book with them. You should cancel your credit card. Otherwise you will be charge alot

I bought my tickets without issue. The problems started when I needed to change my flights due to a changed cruise itinerary and they quoted me a £1,100 fee just to rebook ONE flight (the original fee for both tickets was about £500). Because other companies were offering far cheaper tickets than that, I went there with a different company only to find out while on said flight that my original return had been cancelled by TravelJunction, and they didn't even email me about it. No refund. No discount on a future purchase. Nothing. That was when I had a long exchange with the customer services, and the word 'awful' is a tragic understatement. I had to call them up four times because the first three operators, upon hearing of my issue, and upon me telling them I was starting to have an anxiety attack just hung up. They just hung up on me. I have experienced bad customer service before, but this is so bad, it has to be intentional. There is no way such an abysmal customer service team can exist and the higher ups not be acutely aware of it, and fine with it. Simply, this place isn't worth the discount. Buy direct from the flight companies for a slightly higher price. Use 3rd party sites like this and you'll regret it sooner or later.

BEWARE. Unfortunately I cannot give them minus score. They advertise lower price and then five minutes later they call you to tell you that this price is not available and try to sell you the same ticket at a much higher price. Happened to me and my son, twice in the same day with the same story. They will tell you that you cannot cancel and they will not refund your money that you paid and you must pay the difference to purchase the higher price ticket or lose your money. You have been warned, stay away.

On 8 January 2024 I called this company who came up on Google under the heading of Emirates airlines. I spoke to an agent who charged me £680 to upgrade seats on flights to the Far East, which I had booked through a travel agent. After making the payment I became a bit suspicious as he was asking me to give him my OTP, I did not give it to him but the payment still went through. After the call ended I looked for another number for Emirates airlines on Google. When I spoke to an agent it became obvious that the company who I had paid my money to were not Emirates. I was told that no seat upgrades had been done for us and that they could not have been as at the time our tickets had not been issued. I was told that there were very limited extra leg room seats and that I should contact my travel agent to get our tickets issued. When I checked my credit card statement I found out the Travel Junction were who took payment and they were not Emirates airlines has I had been led to believe. I contacted my travel agent and they issued our tickets, I then had to another £500 to Emirates for the extra legroom seats. I contacted Travel Junction and spoke to the same person who I had paid my money to, asking him to return my money to my credit card as he had not not booked the seats. He refused to refund my money telling me that the only thing he could offer me were airline vouchers which I could use within the next year. I refused to accept them telling him that my credit card bill needed paying and that vouchers were of no use to me. He was unsympathetic and would not agree to my refund. As I was becoming very emotional I ended the call.

Horrible experience so far. I understand my tickets are non refundable but I can change the dates and I'm happy to pay change of fair fees. But I've had several emergencies and the dates we can fly are not within a year of the I made my booking so they said they'd rather keep the seats empty, in the current climate it seems completely ignorant to have 2 seats which people could use! It also says this in the tiniest small print. We wanted to book the same time the following year (so the dates are within 1 year of the flights) Booking.com are MUCH more human and transparent. I wouldn't book with Travel Junction again unless we can figure this out.

Please do not use this agency. They cannot be trusted. My experience with Travel Junction has been really bad. We unfortunately had to cancel our flights that we had booked with them to NBO. They promised us that the refund process would take 3-4 months!!! It is now 4 months+ and they continue to state that the refund has been processed but I have not received the refund nor can they tell me the amount that has been refunded. I would advice against using this travel agency to everyone. They can't be believed on what they say!!!!

If I could give negative10 stars I would. I bought 4 international tickets with this company, was given booking code and assurance that I would have an email. 1 week later. no email, my credit card had not been charged, but they had also not contacted me to say my tickets were cancelled. I called a million times and was put on hold for 30 minutes +. finally talked to a manager, who said she would see what she could do about getting me the original quoted tickets for $4800 for 4 people-- but only if I agreed to pay the taxes upfront, and it would be non-refundable. I was desperate at this point and agreed. She promised to call me within 72 hours . No return call. But there was a credit card charge of $1400!!! I called and called and asked for the manager and finally got a hold of her 8 days later. She said that appealing to her adminstrators hadn't worked and that the only way I could get my $1400 was to pay at total of $11800 for the tickets!!! I was floored- what a bad company . I have been disputing this claim since June 2022 EDITED - Travel Junction tried to have my review removed from trustpilot.... but I have proof!!!!!! SO PLEASE reconsider from buying anything from this company, as a result of their terrible money making schemes I paid out thousands more than I should have -- original tickets for 4 people for international flight should have been ~$4900. INstead because I had to wait and deal with all their incompetence flights went up and I ended up having to pay $7200 became apparent that there was no way they were going to honor their initial promise of my original booking flight for $4900. THEN Travel junction refused to return my "deposit" of $1400 SO I ended up paying $3800 more than I should have if they had been honest in the first place. DO NOT USE!!!! Vancouver, BC branch: They overcharged. Then charged a penalty. Then claimed for 2 months that they refunded the cancelled ticket costs which never happened. Now they claim there was a "technical problem". No sign of any refund. My bank confirmed that. Their so called managers never return messages. Would not even rate it with one star but have to because unable to proceed otherwise Thinking I was speaking to British Airways to check that my flight on 8 July 2022 to Bologna Italy was still OK, It turned out that I was unsuspectingly speaking to Travel Junction! Still thinking I was speaking to BA I was told the flight was going ahead but there were taxes and landing charges that needed to be paid! I queried this with who I thought was BA and was told that the "E" ticket I had from BA was not valid and that unless I paid a further £155 x2 for my wife and I I would not be allowed to fly. Having already paid £5,000 for our Cruise holiday from Italy I felt I had no choice but to pay up and did so. Because non of this seemed correct I then telephoned BA and was told that no further money was due from me and that the "E" ticket I possessed was indeed valid, furthermore they confirmed that no monies (£310) had been received by them, it had gone into their account! Within an hour of all this happening I contacted AMEX to stop the payment which they did but released it two weeks later to Travel Junction, saying that I had bought a ticket from Travel Junction! Why would I want to by another two tickets when I already had two! The case with AMEX has now been reopened after they heard in writing what they had done. If I do not win with AMEX and get a full refund, I will be taking the case through the Small Claims Court. They will not get away with it. Cheating, unscrupulous, untrustworthy is what they are.

Traveljunction offered an excellent online price for a roundtrip flight from Richmond, Virginia, to Dublin, Ireland, which I ordered. I received the electronic he acknowledgement immediately and a confirmation within about 15-20 minutes. About two hours later, I received an e-mail asking that I telephone a Traveljunction agent (whose English was incomprehensible) because of additional information the company needed from me. He gave me conflicting stories: (1) the return flight (Delta) was no longer available (I checked immediately on the Delta website, and it das still listed), and (2) I could still get the flight already confirmed (I had accepted their online offer, so a binding contract existed), but only for an additional $200. Traveljunction had confirmed my order but had not yet charged my credit card. I received a snippy e-mail from another agent telling me that this meant they could "revoke the offer" (which I had already accepted, so legally, it was too late for the company to revoke). Meanwhile, relying on that agreement, I did not order a ticket advertised by another agency (much more reliable, I have learned). By this tie, that price had substantially increased. Traveljunction promises, but does not deliver. I would never do business again with this agency!

I booked a flight for my daughter to travel on the same flight as I had already booked. Travel junction sent tickets for a different flight. I called and spoke to a guy, he said we’d booked the wrong flight, no way I replied and explained to him that I booked the same flight so my daughter could travel with me. He then offered to get tickets for that flight but at an extra cost of £243. No way I said as this is your mistake not mine, can I have a refund I enquired? Yes at a cost of £74. Again I replied no way this is your mistake not mine can I speak to a supervisor? He came back and said a full refund would be issued. And would take no more than 3 days. Here we are 11 days later and no refund!! I only used these because they were a provider for Skyscanner who I have purchased flights through for years. NEVER USE TRAVEL JUNCTION and I’m now thinking twice before using skyscanner as their customer service team seem to be useless

Not even worth 1 star. I made the mistake of booking before I read the reviews. ***EVERY NEGATIVE REVIEW IS ACCURATE*** I booked a flight and received an email confirming the reservation, but the sender name only said "INFO" (not a company name). There was no mention of my seat number or anything. So of course I call American Airlines and they had no record of it. I called TravelJunction to cancel and some clown said, "yeah, this woman is working on your reservation." After being put on hold for 3-4 minutes (with no hold music---just silence) a woman said my credit card wasn't charged. I checked my balance AND called Mastercard prior to calling TravelJunction, and they said I was already charged. I tried to tell this to the lady and she hung up on me. *****DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!********

FACT SHEET: Biden-Harris Administration Announces Rules to Deliver Automatic Refunds and Protect Consumers from Surprise Junk Fees in Air Travel

Newly finalized rules will mandate automatic, cash refunds for cancelled or significantly delayed flights and save consumers over half a billion dollars every year in airline fees

WASHINGTON – Building on a historic record of expanding consumer protections and standing up for airline passengers, the Biden-Harris Administration announced final rules that require airlines to provide automatic cash refunds to passengers when owed and protect consumers from costly surprise airline fees. These rules will significantly expand consumer protections in air travel, provide passengers an easier pathway to refunds when owed, and save consumers over half a billion dollars every year in hidden and surprise junk fees. 

“Passengers deserve to know upfront what costs they are facing and should get their money back when an airline owes them - without having to ask,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg . “Today’s announcements will require airlines to both provide passengers better information about costs before ticket purchase, and promptly provide cash refunds to passengers when they are owed — not only saving passengers time and money, but also preventing headaches.”

The rules are part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s work to lower costs for consumers and take on corporate rip-offs. President Biden signed an Executive Order on Promoting Competition in 2021 that encouraged DOT to take steps to promote fairer, more transparent, and competitive markets. 

Requiring Automatic Cash Airline Refunds The first rule requires airlines to promptly provide passengers with automatic cash refunds when owed because their flights are cancelled or significantly changed, their checked bags are significantly delayed, or the ancillary services, like Wi-Fi, they purchased are not provided. 

Without this rule, consumers have to navigate a patchwork of cumbersome processes to request and receive a refund — searching through airline websites to figure out how to make the request, filling out extra “digital paperwork,” or at times waiting for hours on the phone. Passengers would also receive a travel credit or voucher by default from many airlines instead of getting their money back, so they could not use their refund to rebook on another airline when their flight was changed or cancelled without navigating a cumbersome request process. 

DOT’s rule makes it simple and straightforward for passengers to receive the money they are owed. The final rule requires refunds to be:

  • Automatic: Airlines must automatically issue refunds without passengers having to explicitly request them or jump through hoops.   
  • Prompt: Airlines and ticket agents must promptly issue refunds within seven business days of refunds becoming due for credit card purchases and 20 calendar days for other payment methods.  
  • Cash or original form of payment: Airlines and ticket agents must provide refunds in cash or whatever original payment method the individual used to make the purchase, such as credit card or airline miles. Airlines may not substitute vouchers, travel credits, or other forms of compensation unless the passenger affirmatively chooses to accept alternative compensation.   
  • Full amount: Airlines and ticket agents must provide full refunds of the ticket purchase price, minus the value of any portion of transportation already used. The refunds must include all government-imposed taxes and fees and airline-imposed fees.

Protecting Against Surprise Airline Junk Fees Secondly, DOT is requiring airlines and ticket agents to tell consumers upfront what fees they charge for checked bags, a carry-on bag, for changing a reservation, or cancelling a reservation. This ensures that consumers can avoid surprise fees when they purchase tickets from airlines or ticket agents, including both brick-and-mortar travel agencies or online travel agencies.

The rule will help consumers avoid unneeded or unexpected charges that can increase quickly and add significant cost to what may, at first, look like a cheap ticket. Extra fees, like checked baggage and change fees, have been a growing source of revenue for airlines, while also becoming more complex and confusing for passengers over time. In total, thanks to the final rule, consumers are expected to save over half a billion dollars every year that they are currently overpaying in airline fees.

DOT’s rule ensures that consumers have the information they need to better understand the true costs of air travel. Under the final rule, airlines are required to:

  • Disclose baggage, change, and cancellation fees upfront: Each fee must be disclosed the first time that fare and schedule information is provided on the airline’s online platform -- and cannot be displayed through a hyperlink.  
  • Explain fee policies before ticket purchase: For each type of baggage, airlines and ticket agents must spell out the weight and dimension limitations that they impose. They must also describe any prohibitions or restrictions on changing or cancelling a flight, along with policies related to differences in fare when switching to a more or less expensive flight.    
  • Share fee information with third parties: An airline must provide useable, current, and accurate information regarding its baggage, change, and cancellation fees and policies to any company that is required to disclose them to consumers and receives fare, schedule, and availability information from that airline.   
  • Inform consumers that seats are guaranteed: When offering an advance seat assignment for a fee, airlines and ticket agents must let consumers know that purchasing a seat is not necessary to travel, so consumers can avoid paying unwanted seat selection fees.   
  • P rovide both standard and passenger-specific fee information:  Consumers can choose to view passenger-specific fee information based on their participation in the airline’s rewards program, their military status, or the credit card that they use — or they can decide to stay anonymous and get the standard fee information.  
  • End discount bait-and-switch tactics: The final rule puts an end to the bait-and-switch tactics some airlines use to disguise the true cost of discounted flights. It prohibits airlines from advertising a promotional discount off a low base fare that does not include all mandatory carrier-imposed fees.

DOT’s Historic Record of Consumer Protection Under the Biden-Harris Administration Both of these actions were suggested for consideration by the DOT in the Executive Order on Promoting Competition and build on historic steps the Biden-Harris Administration has already taken to expand consumer protections, promote competition, and protect air travelers. Under the Biden-Harris Administration, DOT has advanced the largest expansion of airline passenger rights, issued the biggest fines against airlines for failing consumers, and returned more money to passengers in refunds and reimbursements than ever before in the Department’s history.

  • DOT launched the flightrights.gov dashboard, and now all 10 major U.S. airlines guarantee free rebooking and meals, and nine guarantee hotel accommodations when an airline issue causes a significant delay or cancellation. These are new commitments the airlines added to their customer service plans that DOT can legally ensure they adhere to and are displayed on flightrights.gov .  
  • Since President Biden took office, DOT has helped return more than $3 billion in refunds and reimbursements owed to airline passengers – including over $600 million to passengers affected by the Southwest Airlines holiday meltdown in 2022.   
  • DOT has issued over $164 million in penalties against airlines for consumer protection violations. Between 1996 and 2020, DOT collectively issued less than $71 million in penalties against airlines for consumer protection violations.  
  • DOT recently launched a new partnership with a bipartisan group of state attorneys general to fast-track the review of consumer complaints, hold airlines accountable, and protect the rights of the traveling public.  
  • In 2023, the flight cancellation rate in the U.S. was a record low at under 1.2% — the lowest rate of flight cancellations in over 10 years despite a record amount of air travel.  
  • DOT is undertaking its first ever industry-wide review of airline privacy practices and its first review of airline loyalty programs

In addition to finalizing the rules to require automatic refunds and protect consumers from surprise fees, DOT is also pursuing rulemakings that would: 

  • Propose to ban family seating junk fees and guarantee that parents can sit with their children for no extra charge when they fly. Before President Biden and Secretary Buttigieg pressed airlines last year, no airline committed to guaranteeing fee-free family seating. Now, four airlines guarantee fee-free family seating, as the Department is working on its family seating junk fee ban proposal.  
  • Propose to make passenger compensation and amenities mandatory so that travelers are taken care of when airlines cause flight delays or cancellations.   
  • Expand the rights for passengers who use wheelchairs and ensure that they can travel safely and with dignity . The comment period on this proposed rule closes on May 13, 2024.

Airlines are going to be required to provide automatic refunds for delayed or canceled flights under new Department of Transportation regulations, announced on Wednesday .

The regulations, which airlines must adapt to over the next six to 12 months, define a range of criteria that they say constitutes a "significant change" to a flight that would entitle a customer to a refund.

The new rules also entitle passengers to automatic refunds for delays to checked bags and for airlines' failure to provide extra services that customers have paid for.

The airlines will have to provide refunds that are automatic, meaning passengers don't have to request them, and prompt, which the DOT describes as within seven business days for credit card purchases and 20 calendar days for other payment methods.

The refunds must be in whatever payment method the passenger originally used, whether cash, credit card, or airline miles. The refunds should only be provided as vouchers or travel credits if the passenger explicitly accepts them.

The DOT says that the refund must also be paid in full, including all government-imposed taxes and fees and airline-imposed fees.

The checked bag isn't delivered within 15 hours of an international flight that's 12 hours long or less arriving at the gate.

The checked bag isn't delivered within 30 hours of an international flight that's more than 12 hours long arriving at the gate.

Passengers will be eligible for refunds of paid-for extra services that then aren't provided by the airline, including:

Advance seat selection.

Seat upgrades.

Transportation of checked or carry-on baggage.

Airport lounge access.

In-flight entertainment and WiFi.

In-flight meals, beverages, and snacks.

In-flight blankets and pillows.

Customers will be eligible for travel credits or vouchers in the following cases related to serious communicable diseases:

If they're restricted or prohibited from traveling by a governmental entity or are required to quarantine for a substantial portion of the trip.

If they're advised by a medical professional not to travel during a public health emergency to protect themselves from a serious communicable disease, in the case of the ticket being purchased before the public health emergency was declared.

If they're advised by a medical professional not to travel, irrespective of a public health emergency, because they have or are likely to have contracted a serious communicable disease.

The travel credits or vouchers must be valid for at least five years. Airlines have 12 months to meet the new DOT requirements.

WASHINGTON — In an effort to crack down on airlines that charge passengers steep fees to check bags and change flights, the U.S. Department of Transportation has announced new regulations aimed at expanding consumer protections .

One of the final rules announced Wednesday requires airlines to show the full price of travel before passengers pay for their tickets. The other will force airlines to provide prompt cash refunds when flights are canceled or significantly changed.

"Passengers deserve to know upfront what costs they are facing and should get their money back when an airline owes them - without having to ask," said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in a statement announcing the new rules.

Surprise junk fees have become a large and growing source of revenue for airlines in recent years, according to the DOT.

"Today's announcements will require airlines to both provide passengers better information about costs before ticket purchase, and promptly provide cash refunds to passengers when they are owed — not only saving passengers time and money, but also preventing headaches," Buttigieg said.

The airline industry is unlikely to welcome the new rules. At a hearing on the proposed fee rule in March 2023, an industry lobbying group representing American, Delta and United said it would be too difficult for airlines to disclose their charges more clearly.

"The amount of unwanted and unneeded information forced upon passengers" by the new policy would only cause "confusion and frustration," warned Doug Mullen, the deputy general counsel at Airlines for America . "Very few, if any, need or want this information, and especially when they are initially trying to understand schedule and fare options."

But the DOT insists its new rule will give consumers the information they need to better understand the true costs of air travel.

"I believe this is to the benefit of the sector as a whole," Buttigieg said in an interview with NPR's Morning Edition , because passengers will have "more confidence in the aviation sector."

The new rules require airlines to disclose all baggage, change, and cancellation fees, and to share that information with third-party booking sites and travel agents.

The regulation also prohibits bait-and-switch tactics, the DOT says, that disguise the true cost of flights by advertising a low base fare that does not include all mandatory fees.

"This is really about making sure that we create a better experience for passengers, and a stronger aviation sector in the United States," Buttigieg said in the NPR interview.

No need for phone call from rude worker

It was easy to book and got my email straight away confirming booking request and within 8-10 hours had my eticket However the following day I had a couple of missed calls from a number I didn’t recognize Then the day after (today) the same number called the man spoke poor English and was very abrupt He said he worked for travel junction and was confirming my booking, I understood him after 3 attempts. Travel Itinerary For One Week in Moscow: The Best of Moscow!

I just got back from one week in Moscow. And, as you might have already guessed, it was a mind-boggling experience. It was not my first trip to the Russian capital. But I hardly ever got enough time to explore this sprawling city. Visiting places for business rarely leaves enough time for sightseeing. I think that if you’ve got one week in Russia, you can also consider splitting your time between its largest cities (i.e. Saint Petersburg ) to get the most out of your trip. Seven days will let you see the majority of the main sights and go beyond just scratching the surface. In this post, I’m going to share with you my idea of the perfect travel itinerary for one week in Moscow.

Moscow is perhaps both the business and cultural hub of Russia. There is a lot more to see here than just the Kremlin and Saint Basil’s Cathedral. Centuries-old churches with onion-shaped domes dotted around the city are in stark contrast with newly completed impressive skyscrapers of Moscow City dominating the skyline. I spent a lot of time thinking about my Moscow itinerary before I left. And this city lived up to all of my expectations.

7-day Moscow itinerary

Travel Itinerary For One Week in Moscow

Day 1 – red square and the kremlin.

Metro Station: Okhotny Ryad on Red Line.

No trip to Moscow would be complete without seeing its main attraction. The Red Square is just a stone’s throw away from several metro stations. It is home to some of the most impressive architectural masterpieces in the city. The first thing you’ll probably notice after entering it and passing vendors selling weird fur hats is the fairytale-like looking Saint Basil’s Cathedral. It was built to commemorate one of the major victories of Ivan the Terrible. I once spent 20 minutes gazing at it, trying to find the perfect angle to snap it. It was easier said than done because of the hordes of locals and tourists.

As you continue strolling around Red Square, there’s no way you can miss Gum. It was widely known as the main department store during the Soviet Era. Now this large (yet historic) shopping mall is filled with expensive boutiques, pricey eateries, etc. During my trip to Moscow, I was on a tight budget. So I only took a retro-style stroll in Gum to get a rare glimpse of a place where Soviet leaders used to grocery shop and buy their stuff. In case you want some modern shopping experience, head to the Okhotny Ryad Shopping Center with stores like New Yorker, Zara, and Adidas.

To continue this Moscow itinerary, next you may want to go inside the Kremlin walls. This is the center of Russian political power and the president’s official residence. If you’re planning to pay Kremlin a visit do your best to visit Ivan the Great Bell Tower as well. Go there as early as possible to avoid crowds and get an incredible bird’s-eye view. There are a couple of museums that are available during designated visiting hours. Make sure to book your ticket online and avoid lines.

Day 2 – Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the Tretyakov Gallery, and the Arbat Street

As soon as you start creating a Moscow itinerary for your second day, you’ll discover that there are plenty of metro stations that are much closer to certain sites. Depending on your route, take a closer look at the metro map to pick the closest.

The white marble walls of Christ the Saviour Cathedral are awe-inspiring. As you approach this tallest Orthodox Christian church, you may notice the bronze sculptures, magnificent arches, and cupolas that were created to commemorate Russia’s victory against Napoleon.

How to Get a Decent Haircut in a Foreign Country

Unfortunately, the current Cathedral is a replica, since original was blown to bits in 1931 by the Soviet government. The new cathedral basically follows the original design, but they have added some new elements such as marble high reliefs.

Home to some precious collection of artworks, in Tretyakov Gallery you can find more than 150,000 of works spanning centuries of artistic endeavor. Originally a privately owned gallery, it now has become one of the largest museums in Russia. The Gallery is often considered essential to visit. But I have encountered a lot of locals who have never been there.

Famous for its souvenirs, musicians, and theaters, Arbat street is among the few in Moscow that were turned into pedestrian zones. Arbat street is usually very busy with tourists and locals alike. My local friend once called it the oldest street in Moscow dating back to 1493. It is a kilometer long walking street filled with fancy gift shops, small cozy restaurants, lots of cute cafes, and street artists. It is closed to any vehicular traffic, so you can easily stroll it with kids.

Day 3 – Moscow River Boat Ride, Poklonnaya Hill Victory Park, the Moscow City

Metro Station: Kievskaya and Park Pobedy on Dark Blue Line / Vystavochnaya on Light Blue Line

Voyaging along the Moscow River is definitely one of the best ways to catch a glimpse of the city and see the attractions from a bit different perspective. Depending on your Moscow itinerary, travel budget and the time of the year, there are various types of boats available. In the summer there is no shortage of boats, and you’ll be spoiled for choice.

If you find yourself in Moscow during the winter months, I’d recommend going with Radisson boat cruise. These are often more expensive (yet comfy). They offer refreshments like tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and, of course, alcoholic drinks. Prices may vary but mostly depend on your food and drink selection. Find their main pier near the opulent Ukraine hotel . The hotel is one of the “Seven Sisters”, so if you’re into the charm of Stalinist architecture don’t miss a chance to stay there.

The area near Poklonnaya Hill has the closest relation to the country’s recent past. The memorial complex was completed in the mid-1990s to commemorate the Victory and WW2 casualties. Also known as the Great Patriotic War Museum, activities here include indoor attractions while the grounds around host an open-air museum with old tanks and other vehicles used on the battlefield.

How I Planned My Trip to Vietnam

The hallmark of the memorial complex and the first thing you see as you exit metro is the statue of Nike mounted to its column. This is a very impressive Obelisk with a statue of Saint George slaying the dragon at its base.

Maybe not as impressive as Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl Tower , the skyscrapers of the Moscow City (otherwise known as Moscow International Business Center) are so drastically different from dull Soviet architecture. With 239 meters and 60 floors, the Empire Tower is the seventh highest building in the business district.

The observation deck occupies 56 floor from where you have some panoramic views of the city. I loved the view in the direction of Moscow State University and Luzhniki stadium as well to the other side with residential quarters. The entrance fee is pricey, but if you’re want to get a bird’s eye view, the skyscraper is one of the best places for doing just that.

Day 4 – VDNKh, Worker and Collective Farm Woman Monument, The Ostankino TV Tower

VDNKh is one of my favorite attractions in Moscow. The weird abbreviation actually stands for Russian vystavka dostizheniy narodnogo khozyaystva (Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy). With more than 200 buildings and 30 pavilions on the grounds, VDNKh serves as an open-air museum. You can easily spend a full day here since the park occupies a very large area.

Places to Visit in Barcelona That Aren’t Beaches

First, there are pavilions that used to showcase different cultures the USSR was made of. Additionally, there is a number of shopping pavilions, as well as Moskvarium (an Oceanarium) that features a variety of marine species. VDNKh is a popular venue for events and fairs. There is always something going on, so I’d recommend checking their website if you want to see some particular exhibition.

A stone’s throw away from VDNKh there is a very distinctive 25-meters high monument. Originally built in 1937 for the world fair in Paris, the hulking figures of men and women holding a hammer and a sickle represent the Soviet idea of united workers and farmers. It doesn’t take much time to see the monument, but visiting it gives some idea of the Soviet Union’s grandiose aspirations.

I have a thing for tall buildings. So to continue my travel itinerary for one week in Moscow I decided to climb the fourth highest TV tower in the world. This iconic 540m tower is a fixture of the skyline. You can see it virtually from everywhere in Moscow, and this is where you can get the best panoramic views (yep, even better than Empire skyscraper).

Parts of the floor are made of tempered glass, so it can be quite scary to exit the elevator. But trust me, as you start observing buildings and cars below, you won’t want to leave. There is only a limited number of tickets per day, so you may want to book online. Insider tip: the first tour is cheaper, you can save up to $10 if go there early.

Day 5 – A Tour To Moscow Manor Houses

I love visiting the manor houses and palaces in Moscow. These opulent buildings were generally built to house Russian aristocratic families and monarchs. Houses tend to be rather grand affairs with impressive architecture. And, depending on the whims of the owners, some form of a landscaped garden.

During the early part of the 20th century though, many of Russia’s aristocratic families (including the family of the last emperor) ended up being killed or moving abroad . Their manor houses were nationalized. Some time later (after the fall of the USSR) these were open to the public. It means that today a great many of Moscow’s finest manor houses and palaces are open for touring.

20 Travel Tips I’ve Learned From Travelling The World

There are 20 manor houses scattered throughout the city and more than 25 in the area around. But not all of them easily accessible and exploring them often takes a lot of time. I’d recommend focusing on three most popular estates in Moscow that are some 30-minute metro ride away from Kremlin.

Sandwiched between the Moscow River and the Andropov Avenue, Kolomenskoye is a UNESCO site that became a public park in the 1920’s. Once a former royal estate, now it is one of the most tranquil parks in the city with gorgeous views. The Ascension Church, The White Column, and the grounds are a truly grand place to visit.

You could easily spend a full day here, exploring a traditional Russian village (that is, in fact, a market), picnicking by the river, enjoying the Eastern Orthodox church architecture, hiking the grounds as well as and wandering the park and gardens with wildflower meadows, apple orchards, and birch and maple groves. The estate museum showcases Russian nature at its finest year-round.

If my travel itinerary for one week in Moscow was a family tree, Tsaritsyno Park would probably be the crazy uncle that no-one talks about. It’s a large park in the south of the city of mind-boggling proportions, unbelievable in so many ways, and yet most travelers have never heard of it.

The palace was supposed to be a summer home for Empress Catherine the Great. But since the construction didn’t meet with her approval the palace was abandoned. Since the early 1990’s the palace, the pond, and the grounds have been undergoing renovations. The entire complex is now looking brighter and more elaborately decorated than at possibly any other time during its history. Like most parks in Moscow, you can visit Tsaritsyno free of charge, but there is a small fee if you want to visit the palace.

How To Stop Procrastinating When Trip Planning

Last, but by no means least on my Moscow itinerary is Kuskovo Park . This is definitely an off-the-beaten-path place. While it is not easily accessible, you will be rewarded with a lack of crowds. This 18th-century summer country house of the Sheremetev family was one of the first summer country estates of the Russian nobility. And when you visit you’ll quickly realize why locals love this park.

Like many other estates, Kuskovo has just been renovated. So there are lovely French formal garden, a grotto, and the Dutch house to explore. Make sure to plan your itinerary well because the estate is some way from a metro station.

Day 6 – Explore the Golden Ring

Creating the Moscow itinerary may keep you busy for days with the seemingly endless amount of things to do. Visiting the so-called Golden Ring is like stepping back in time. Golden Ring is a “theme route” devised by promotion-minded journalist and writer Yuri Bychkov.

Having started in Moscow the route will take you through a number of historical cities. It now includes Suzdal, Vladimir, Kostroma, Yaroslavl and Sergiev Posad. All these awe-inspiring towns have their own smaller kremlins and feature dramatic churches with onion-shaped domes, tranquil residential areas, and other architectural landmarks.

Sergiev Posad is often described as being at the heart of Russian spiritual life. So it is uncommon to see the crowds of Russian pilgrims showing a deep reverence for their religion. If you’re traveling independently and using public transport, you can reach Sergiev Posad by bus (departs from VDNKh) or by suburban commuter train from Yaroslavskaya Railway Station (Bahnhof). It takes about one and a half hours to reach the town.

Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius is a great place to get a glimpse of filling and warming Russian lunch, specifically at the “ Gostevaya Izba ” restaurant. Try the duck breast, hearty potato and vegetables, and the awesome Napoleon cake.

Day 7 – Gorky Park, Izmailovo Kremlin, Patriarch’s Ponds

Gorky Park is in the heart of Moscow. It offers many different types of outdoor activities, such as dancing, cycling, skateboarding, walking, jogging, and anything else you can do in a park. Named after Maxim Gorky, this sprawling and lovely park is where locals go on a picnic, relax and enjoy free yoga classes. It’s a popular place to bike around, and there is a Muzeon Art Park not far from here. A dynamic location with a younger vibe. There is also a pier, so you can take a cruise along the river too.

How to Save Money While Traveling in Europe

The Kremlin in Izmailovo is by no means like the one you can find near the Red Square. Originally built for decorative purposes, it now features the Vernissage flea market and a number of frequent fairs, exhibitions, and conferences. Every weekend, there’s a giant flea market in Izmailovo, where dozens of stalls sell Soviet propaganda crap, Russian nesting dolls, vinyl records, jewelry and just about any object you can imagine. Go early in the morning if you want to beat the crowds.

All the Bulgakov’s fans should pay a visit to Patriarch’s Ponds (yup, that is plural). With a lovely small city park and the only one (!) pond in the middle, the location is where the opening scene of Bulgakov’s novel Master and Margarita was set. The novel is centered around a visit by Devil to the atheistic Soviet Union is considered by many critics to be one of the best novels of the 20th century. I spent great two hours strolling the nearby streets and having lunch in the hipster cafe.

To conclude, Moscow is a safe city to visit. I have never had a problem with getting around and most locals are really friendly once they know you’re a foreigner. Moscow has undergone some serious reconstruction over the last few years. So you can expect some places to be completely different. I hope my one week Moscow itinerary was helpful! If you have less time, say 4 days or 5 days, I would cut out day 6 and day 7. You could save the Golden Ring for a separate trip entirely as there’s lots to see!

Very Sceptical but they are Legitimate

Very Sceptical at first using Travel Junction. But they were £1,000 cheaper than the Airline for our flights to the USA in September. I did lots of research on them as I was very unsure about them. But After checking them out on TrustPilot and checked their ATOL number and address I decided to take a chance. Well got all the paperwork through shortly after booking. Ethan called us to ask if we wanted Cancellation Insurance which we took,They are legit, all our paperwork is correct. I don't why they are cheaper but they are and they are ALL Good.
