The 22 Best Instagram Travel Accounts To Inspire You

Instagram is simple, it’s visual and it creates a quick emotional impact! It’s also a great way to discover new places around the world. No wonder I’m always seeking the best Instagram travel accounts to follow!

Even though I despise the direction Instagram is going, with self-proclaimed influencers spreading like wildfire ( beautypreneurs is a thing now…) I confess I do spend a significant amount of time there .

Sometimes double tapping cat videos. Sometimes stalking my friends. But I’m especially interested in new travel inspiration. And now I’m sharing them with you (the travel content, not the cats).

For this list, I tried to avoid hollow influencers who only use travel as a way of getting new backdrops for their own photos. The world needs valuable content, interesting things to learn and see and especially people who truly love to travel.

With no particular order, these are my favorite Instagram travel bloggers to feed your wanderlust (list updated May 2019). They are travel bloggers, Youtube stars, journalists or simple amateurs sharing real, honest, and interesting content.

Paulo’s was one of the first accounts I followed in Instagram. He’s a Brazilian travel photographer, but mostly a storyteller. His amazing photos in the most varied landscapes inspired me to follow my own wanderlust dream.

Originally from Hong Kong , Melissa Hie started this project because she felt awkward asking strangers to take pictures of her. So she started taking food selfies! On her Instagram you can find a bag of dutch fries in Amsterdam a corn bread in Indonesia , or this koulouri in Greece . I’m hooked!

Starting a travel Instagram has opened my opportunities for travel influencers to travel the world while making money online . But the question still remains, do travel Instagram pages still make money in 2022? The answer is YES! Who would’ve thought like ten years ago that a platform like Instagram could eventually lead people to pursue their passion, such as traveling while earning a full-time income ? The content creators, who have some of the best travel pages on Instagram , generate their income mostly from tourism and brand sponsored content. Today, tourism boards hire Influencers with a trendsetting travel Instagram accounts to promote their country’s tourism spots.

According to a National Geographic report, travel influencers provide an incredible amount of investment when it comes to promoting tourism. As a result, influencers with a big following and an aspirational travel Instagram pages get hired sometimes on a monthly basis, raking in full-time income while traveling the world. It’s a lifestyle that every aspiring digital nomad wants to achieve. Considering the opportunities in the travel Instagram space, every wanderluster wants to emulate travel influencers who get to pay a lot of money and travel for free. If you’ve ever wondered how to become a travel influencer , your travel Instagram needs to hone and focus on a specific niche to establish yourself as a thought leader and an authority in that subject. Traveling is a huge niche with so many sub-niches you can focus on. The different types of travel niches are adventure travel, luxury travel, health and wellness travel, gastro tourism, themed cruises, tropical/island travel, hiking, winter destinations, and so on. Picking one (or if you can blend a couple of other sub-niches through your content), can help you establish authority over the subject.

An example of a travel Instagrammer in the adventure sub-niche would be posting content related to exploring mostly wild, outdoor, and exotic locations that requires a bit of adrenaline. The images and videos in adventure travel give a high focus on non-touristy places, destinations that are still unknown to the masses. When you have a loyal following, they are more likely to engage and interact with your content, which is critical if you want to grow the followers of your travel Instagram page. A way to create an inspiring and aspiring brand for your travel Instagram page is to post visually striking images or videos consistently. If your content doesn’t capture your followers’ attention, they will just scroll past your post and be buried among the rest. Another strategy to create an Instagram brand is through your voice. Do your captions tell a meaningful story that engages your audience to think, and inspire them to join the conversation? We spend quite a lot of time ensuring that our captions on each of our posts reflect our brand and represent our voice.

Take Great Photos

Instagram is a visual platform, so it should not be a surprise that taking great photos is a massive part of becoming a travel influencer. But don’t think you need to be a professional photographer to create visually striking imagery to inspire your followers about your travels. It’s about knowing the simple tips and tricks of creating a beautiful image and finding your style of photography. Once again, being a travel influencer doesn’t require you to invest money to study photography. However, it does require you to study the basic rules of photography and find a style that works for you. For example, every travel influencer I know is familiar with the rule of thirds, where the basic idea is NOT to place your subject and focus on the center of the image.

Another photography basics are lighting, where travel influencers mostly shoot during a specific time of day (mostly in the early morning) to have the softest lighting possible. Apart from learning the basics of photography , many travel influencers use Presets to improve their pictures. These days, it’s pretty rare for a travel influencer not to have a preset of their own that they sell so that you can easily copy their feed. If you prefer not to spend money on presets, you can still improve your pictures by knowing some tips and tricks on how to improve Instagram filters . Lastly, taking exceptional photos also doesn’t mean having the fanciest and most expensive equipment. For us, we do use a professional camera that helps us create some of our best content. However, there are also moments where a picture looks just as great as using an iPhone.

Take Great Videos

Mastering Videos is another medium that travel Instagrammers need to master. We especially like to take videos on our travels and make it a point to post on our feed. Videos allow us to capture our experience on our travels better than images can. Editing is one of the necessary skills in creating a powerful Instagram travel video. Great editing would quickly tell a story and draw your viewers to keep watching the video. Focus using some of your best shots on the first five to ten seconds of your video to ensure you captivate your audience’s attention. Consider using video editing apps such as Adobe Premiere Pro , or edit videos directly on your phone with apps such as Videorama . Both of these editing apps are user friendly and easy to follow and master.

After you’ve mastered the editing portion, the next step is selecting the right music that goes along well with your travel videos. Some of the equipment to use to build our Instagram travel pages are drones, a professional camera, and an iPhone. We especially love drone shots because it allows us to capture certain angles that would otherwise be impossible. Professional cameras can capture quality videos as well and are high on the ground level. Lastly, iPhones are also excellent quality for capturing videos for stories.

Travel Instagram Stories

Instagram stories are, without a doubt, one of the platform’s popular outlet. Considering that editing photos and videos take time, posting on Instagram stories about your travels allows you to give a preview of what’s to come. For us, we rarely post our content on our feed immediately following our travels. The amount of time it takes to edit a video and photograph just takes too long.

As a result, content creators use Instagram stories to share their content immediately. The posts are typically instantaneous and don’t require editing effort. Instagram stories also allow their followers to get an instant glimpse of their travels, and allow content creators to document everything that is happening during their travels and share them with their followers. It’s fun and a great way to interact with your followers. Instagram stories are such a powerful medium to take your travel Instagram to the next level because it allows you to go off-brand. Regardless of being a travel influencer, posting content not related to travel is entirely acceptable and won’t be seen as ‘weird.’ Posting content not related to your niche allows you to show off a little bit about yourself and other things that your followers can relate to.

Use Hashtags

Travel Instagrammers who get hired for paid travel campaigns, the use of hashtags in almost always part of the deal of the job. It means that for every post we make about the travel campaign, we have to use that specific hashtag related to that campaign. Using hashtags can make a difference in getting your content discovered and ultimately land on the explorer page. The hashtag allows Instagram to identify people who are not following you but may be interested in your topic. In other words, you could be gaining a lot more followers if you use hashtags correctly. So use hashtags effectively, whether on your feed posts or stories, chances are your content will reach a new audience you’ve never had before!

Collaborate with Other Travel Influencers

Part of the job of travel Instagrammers is to network off Instagram. Not many realize that part of the hustle is to meet other travel Instagrammers and collaborate on creating content. They tend to tag each other on stories and on static posts, which creates an opportunity to be introduced to a brand new set of audiences and grow their accounts. For us, the best part of meeting other travel Instagrammers is getting an opportunity to be invited to other travel campaigns. Collaborating with other travel influencers also allows you to learn from each other. Starting a Travel Instagram Hub Account

Many might be surprised to know that you can still start a travel Instagram account even if you don’t have a lot of personal travel content to post. It’s a curated travel page where they repost other travel pictures or videos while giving credit to the original poster. It’s a great strategy to build your travel content and followers in the beginning if you don’t have a lot of travel-related content to post yet. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, it is not the best time to start planning an exciting holiday since no one knows exactly what the future holds. Yet, many of us are looking for a brief escape from a new reality aflood with coronavirus stories. So there’s no better time to dream a little by looking at insanely stunning travel photos that bring beautiful destinations to the forefront. Over the past few years, bloggers and influencers have boomed in popularity, yet only few succeed in truly inspiring others. Here are my 10 favorite Instagram travel bloggers who you can follow as well to feed your own wanderlust. And of course, you can always follow my own Instagram account at @LuxuryTravelExpert .

Italy is pure magic. It’s no question why it’s the world’s most popular tourist destination. Italy is so perfect that it doesn’t even feel real. Walking in Venice feels like you’re walking in a dream. Boating in Lake Como feels like you’ve swapped lives with George Clooney. Jumping off the rocks of the Amalfi Coast feels like you’re diving head first into the best day of your life. Listening to accordions play “that’s amore” feels like you’re starring in an old Hollywood romance. Walking the streets of the Vatican feels like you’re living in a Renaissance painting. And drinking wine in Tuscany feels a little like falling in love.

Although I travel solo most of the time, I recently travelled around East Africa with my mother for six weeks. Visiting that part of the world had been my number one travel dream since I was a little girl, and we were lucky enough to see lions, cheetahs, rhinos, giraffes, leopards, and more. I’ll never forget how to felt to be surrounded by a hundred elephants as they grazed in Tanzania’s Tarangire National Park, especially with my mum by my side. It was one of the most special moments of my life so far.

Favourite destination : Picking one favourite destination is always going to be a difficult task, but the fact that I keep wanting to go back to Italy must mean something. I’ve been about a dozen times now and I never seem to run out of places I want to go, things I want to do, and food I want to eat! I love how geographically diverse the country is – from mountains to cities to the sea – as well as how deep-rooted the history and culture are. Not only that, I’ve always had an amazing time with the people I meet while there. And really, any country where it’s acceptable (or maybe expected) for me to eat pasta and drink wine all day is always going to come out on top.

Favourite travel memory: One of my favourite travel memories was when I surprised my parents by popping up in California. They had been in the US on a road trip for two weeks, and were going to California to meet family who lives there. What they didn’t know is that I booked a flight, got on a train, traveled for over 24 hours, and was waiting behind the wall in the kitchen to surprise them when they showed up. I still smile when I think about the look on my dads face when I tapped on his shoulder and he turned around.

Favourite destination: London! I was lucky enough to live there for seven months and I just keep going back. I’ll take any excuse! It’s the place in the world where I feel most at home. London has anything you could ever want, whether you are in the mood for a party, some great food or a visit to some world class museums… it’s all there. And the vibe is just so vibrant and accepting that it was very easy for me to blend right in. I’m really hoping I’ll have another stint there in the future.

Favourite travel memory: It’s hard to pinpoint, as it changes with each destination! But a recent fave was when I was walking through Longyearbyen (in Svalbard, Arctic Norway) last summer. It’s such a beautiful and diverse country, but the best part for me is how generous and friendly the people are – after my first visit I made such immediate close friendships with Colombians that I ended up returning at least three times over the course of the next year!

Favourite travel memory: Would take me back to the first solo trip I did to Thailand back in 2014 when I was 19. I had just arrived in Bangkok after a long flight full of turbulence and was planning on catching a train straight to Chiang Mai. After getting to the Bangkok train station at 11pm, I was told that there were no tickets left for the next train, leaving me stuck by myself, completely clueless in the middle of the night in a foreign place. I made the decision to catch a taxi into Bangkok city, where I spent the next hour walking around the streets with my backpack trying to find a spare bed. At 1am, I found a hostel, where I spent that night in complete awe of what had just happened. Although it was one of the scariest memories I’ve had travelling, it was the moment that I realised just how capable I am of achieving things on my own, and that feeling is something that cannot be beaten.

Favourite destination: Slovenia captured all of my senses and definitely filled a gap in my heart. From the exquisite scenery to the friendly faces, there wasn’t a time spent in Slovenia where I was looking for more or was unsatisfied with my decisions. I also loved that there was a lack of tourists, especially when compared to the surrounding Mediterranean countries.

My favourite travel memory: My favourite travel memory? It’s hard to pick only one after 7.5 years of full-time travel but one trip that stands out is my trip to Cuba earlier this year. The country is fascinating, some of the towns feel like they’re stuck in a time warp, and while it was initially frustrating not to have internet access because of how limited it is by the government, in the end I embraced the involuntary digital detox, because it allowed me to be more present during the trip, to take it all in, instead of wasting time on Facebook or trying to get the perfect Instagram shot. What I loved about Cuba was how friendly the people were, how colourful the towns were, how life takes place in the streets instead of behind closed doors and windows, and the simplicity of life there. The beaches were divine and the scenery was spectacular – I highly recommend visiting Cuba.

Favourite destination: I always say that I have several favourite destinations – which include Italy, Guatemala and Cambodia – but the one country I keep going back to is Mexico, so I guess that’s my No 1 destination! I love the pristine beaches on the Caribbean coast, the Spanish-colonial towns, the diverse landscapes which range from desert in the north to jungles in the south, with plenty of mountains and volcanoes in between, I love the people and the food, of course! I don’t think I’ll ever tire of visiting Mexico and finding new gems there. As for cities, my absolute favourite city in the world is New York City.

Her Instagram profile is noted for idyllic photos of New Zealand outdoors and fauna.

Liz publishes around 10-15 posts per month, and in captions, she shares travel experiences, news, tips, as well as announces giveaways and upcoming expeditions. On a side note, it’s more like a personal blog. Liz doesn’t use too many hashtags, from two to ten on average.

The Planet D is an award-winning travel blog and one of the best travel Instagrams 2021, with over 200k followers. Dave and Deb are the bloggers behind ThePlanetD and were even named Top Travel Influencers by Forbes Magazine. They have visited over 115 countries on all 7 continents and are real heavyweights in the travel space.

Dave and Deb mostly share one picture per post and use captions to describe the location and share camera settings. The number of hashtags varies from a couple to twenty or thirty and include destinations, type of photos and travel, as well as numerous travel-related hashtags like #travelgram, #travellingtheworld, etc. It seems like Dave and Deb try to respond to comments under their posts as far as possible, or at least like them.

A distinctive feature of her account is that publications are beautifully arranged through a kaleidoscope of color, passing from yellow to peach to blue and so on. One of the top Instagram travel accounts, Tara will teach you how to travel in style and live life to the fullest.

Tara shares a lot of reels and some IGTV videos in addition to single-image and carousel posts. She often talks about her travel experiences in destinations and promotes beauty and fashion brands in captions. Hashtags are not a mandatory element in her promotion strategy, although you may encounter a couple of them for sponsored content.

Selena Taylor is a travel photographer and blogger from Amsterdam. In 2016, she left California for a road trip, which grew into life-changing adventures. Twelve countries and six thousand kilometers later she started the Find Us Lost travel blog to share travel insights, photography, unique destinations and much more. Now, as Selena is based in Amsterdam, you can find a lot of Amsterdam pictures in her Instagram account, as well as some of the world’s most captivating cities, blissful beaches and lush florals.

Selena shares a lot of carousel posts and reels, and in captions, she often announces upcoming blog posts and travel guides. There are between one and eight hashtags on average under Selena’s posts, such as location hashtags or inspiration hashtags. Selena also uses her branded hashtag #finduslostpresets to introduce lightroom presets.

Murad Osmann is the mastermind behind the “Follow me” photo series with the iconic hand-holding pose. He is also a film producer, having over 3.7 million followers on Instagram. You’ll find photos from different instagram travel influencers, featuring must-go restaurants and quaint streets from various cities across the globe.

The account features solely single-picture posts, and in the captions, you can find a link to the photo’s author, a short description of a place and a couple of hashtags, including the branded hashtag #theprettycities. In the same vein, you can explore the world’s most popular places from every angle with dedicated travel Instagram accounts @prettycitiesnewyork, @prettycitylondon, and @prettycitiesdublin_.

Carolyn, the blogger behind The Slow Traveler with almost 500k followers on Instagram, shares photos of beautiful outdoors in England in a very atmospheric and cohesive compilation. Carolyn doesn’t post often, just four to five times per month, although each post is gaining numerous comments. In the captions, she shares travel experiences, famous quotes, place descriptions, and so on. In contrast to other bloggers, she barely uses hashtags, only for a few posts.

Adventures that first started with a one-way ticket to Singapore brought Mark and Mim, the masters behind @thecommonwanderer, to over 30 countries, including remote destinations like the Himalayas in Nepal, the temples of Bagan, Namibian sand dunes, and Cambodian jungles. Mark and Mim put them at your fingertips to lust over and make you wish you were right there with them.

On Instagram, Mark and Mim share a lot of reels and carousel posts. The posting frequency varies from a couple to over a dozen posts per month, depending on whether they’re on the road. In captions, you can find a lot of travel tips and tricks to make perfect shots. Notably, Mark and Mim take time to respond to every comment users leave under their posts.

Emily is a travel blogger who shares amazing pictures of many far flung destinations. She is also a co-founder of @seattleinsiders and is setting social media feeds alight with images of Seattle of over 100k followers on Instagram.

In the captions, Emily shares her travel experiences, shooting tips, her own reflections, and so on. She is not a frequent poster, with only a couple of posts uploaded on the platform each month. Emily mostly shares single-picture posts, but there are a few carousel posts every now and then. As for hashtags, Emily either adds a couple of them in captions or uses about 20-30 of them in the comment section to make captions look tidier. She uses a lot of travel-related hashtags like #travelstoke, #followmefaraway, #justgoshoot, and so on.

This amazing account with almost 2 million followers shares photos of a hedgehog Mr Pokee traveling around the world. The idea behind the account was to remind people that there are always reasons to be happy and smile even among all the serious things taking place every day.

Captions are rather short, with a few long stories every once in a while. Not all posts have hashtags, and their number varies from a couple to over a dozen. @mr.pokee is one of those travel accounts that will captivate you for hours on end, with photos of beautiful destinations and stories about adventures of a cute little hedgehog.

Ali Alsulaiman is an award-winning photographer with a passion for luxury traveling and a medical doctor who quit his clinical practice to become a full-time traveler. Saudi-born and now London-based, Ali has made it to the top ten Instagram travel influencers , having over 30k followers on the platform. On his account, you can find breathtaking landscapes in different locations around the world as well as pictures of luxury resorts and hotels.

In captions, Ali describes locations, shares stories and filming conditions, and so much more. He extensively uses hashtags under each post, both in English and Arabic. These are general travel hashtags like #luxuryworldtraveler or #yachtlife, location hashtags like #londonskypool or #corfu. Ali predominantly uses hashtags in captions, separating them from the main text with spaces.

Alex likes the comments users leave on his account and responds to them. Captions length varies from one sentence to long texts, where Garret and Jessica write about their trips, parenting, and more. They use two to four hashtags on average, and only under some posts. You can find location and animal hashtags, travel-related hashtags like #bucketlist, and more.

This year, we've fallen harder than ever for the coastlines, countrysides, big cities and bigger skies that we have access to here in the UK . We've collated 20 photographers who have been distilling the magic of our little island with shots of everywhere from Kent to the Cairngorms .

Travel instagram accounts have inspired people from all over the globe to set out on adventures and explore new cultures.

These nomadic influencers partner with brands in an infinite number of ways. They travel the world and create gorgeous content in exchange for free gear, trips and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. In fact, influencers are collaborating with many of those brands right here on Perlu !

Seems like a dream job, right? That’s why so many people want to know how to become a travel blogger on instagram.

To help you get started, we’ll reveal some inside tips from top travel influencers so you, too, can earn a living while working with fun brands and exploring the world! Read on to discover 7 tips to start your own travel Instagram account with a splash.

1. Start with a Smart Username

Don’t get too fancy here. Avoid using confusing symbols or spellings in your username. We suggest either use your actual name (for authenticity) or a travel-inspired moniker.

Whatever username you select, keep it short and sweet. And if you’re on other social media platforms or have a blog or website, be sure your username is consistent throughout your brand touchpoints. Users will jump from your Instagram to your blog to your Facebook group and back again, so consistency is key.

If you can make your username and/or brand memorable and “ownable,” that is gold.

For example, travel blogger Lesley Murphy was able to tie-in her name and her favorite topic of discussion with “ The Road Les Traveled .” (Get it, “Les?”) Her website is TheRoadLesTraveled.com (“ownable”) and her Instagram account is her actual name (authenticity).

2. Find Your Focus + Your Voice

You aren’t the world’s first travel Instagram influencer, but don’t let that intimidate you. There are plenty of ways to stand out in your niche , no matter how oversaturated it feels.

Better yet, if you have hobbies outside of travel, cross-pollinate your passions to make your Instagram account truly unique. This cross-pollination made him one of the most beloved and influential celebrities in the travel world.

3. Learn to Take Good Photos

Since Instagram is a visual platform, good photos are essential. Notice we said “good” photos, not “professional” photos. You’re not Thomas Havel , professional outdoor and adventure photographer – and that’s okay!

There’s no need to drop thousands of dollars on a camera. You probably have the perfect camera in your hand already – on your smartphone. Instead, why not spend significantly less $$$ on an iPhone photography course ? Or better yet, hit up YouTube for some free pointers.

One thing you’ll notice about a lot of successful travel Instagrammers is that they have a solid aesthetic – in other words, their Instagram has a theme that makes their feed look beautifully coordinated.

A theme isn’t necessary, but if you want one, start figuring out what kind of aesthetic you’re going for. Light and summery? Dark and moody? Earthy and neutral? Bright and minimal?

“I also utilized a theme, either a color palette or a place or something that when people looked at my entire account versus just one photo, that it looked interesting and pleasing,” says Perlu member Cacinda Maloney of Points and Travel . “Many IGers put the same filter on all their photos, which works for some, but I don’t do this, as I like bright photos for some themes and less for others depending on the location.”

Start researching the best editing apps such as Lightroom, VSCO and Snapseed. Test them all out until you find the one that works best for you. If you find yourself struggling to create filters and presets you love or a consistent feed, check out sites like Creative Market , where Instagrammers and photography experts alike create packs of presets for people just like you! And ask other travel Instagrammers what their favorite tools and resources are.

“Everyone knows how important it is to use great quality photographs on a travel Instagram account,” says Perlu member Dana Freeman of Dana Freeman Travels . “The old adage ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’ has never been truer. However, these days, with so many travel Instagram accounts it is more important than ever you post authentic photos. Followers want to be inspired to travel to the destination that you are sharing. They won’t be able to do that if they can’t actually picture themselves there.”

No matter how much or how little you edit your photos, remember that authenticity is key. The majority of your time should be spent finding and telling stories and interacting with your audience.

4. Engage Your Audience!

“Engagement is key,” says Christina of BuenQamino. “Responding and interacting with your audience through comments, stories, messages, etc. is quite impactful. It lets us know you’re not a bot, or a person hired to just post and do the bare minimum.”

Engagement makes you appear approachable and authentic. When you aren’t creating stories or telling stories, take time out of your day—every day—to interact with your audience.

Better yet, set aside time during each day for your audience. Half an hour may be all you need. It will pay dividends faster than most any other technique you can implement.

Reply to comments and DMs (even the negative ones, if you want). Ask your audience questions. However, don’t be a “askhole: a person who asks for advice, yet always does the opposite of what they were told.” Involve your audience and let them participate. For example, you could use the Q&A feature on Instagram to ask your audience where you should travel next.

“Engage, engage, engage,” Christina says. “Did I mention engagement?”

To create an even stronger connection, give your audience more than they expect. Not only should you show great photos – give them travel tips.

How do you find cheap flights? What airlines are the best? How do you find your rooms – hotels? Airbnbs? Word of mouth? What are your favorite travel apps? What are your best budget tips?

Your content tells your story, yes, but the more you help your followers, the more loyal they will become.

“You also need to engage, comment and like, other photos within your genre,” says Cacinda of Points and Travel. One great way to do that is with Perlu ! Head over to the profiles of fellow travel influencers, give them a follow, and then head to their Instagram profiles and follow them there, too. This sets you up for amazing collaboration opportunities.

5. Use Relevant Travel Hashtags

This tip may seem like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised at the mistakes even veterans make.

100 million photos and videos are shared on Instagram every day, most of them using hashtags, and that number is conservative. So choose your hashtags wisely. Find a happy medium with hashtags that are popular enough that people are actually searching for them, but not so popular that your photo quickly gets pushed down by other posts.

Obviously, #travel is No. 1, but that means millions of people are using that hashtag. You won’t stand out. You may get found by a few people via that hashtag, but the chances of really growing your followers through #travel are slim.

So research other travel-related hashtags. Check out the hashtags Travel + Leisure and Conde Nast Traveler use. Piggyback their hashtags to grab their eyeballs. Some companies such as Atalanta create branded hashtags (#atalantaworld) that travel instagram accounts can use for the chance to get featured on their Instagram. Talk about a sweet way to grow your audience fast.

#blogtravel, #culturetrip, #travelwriter are all gathering thousands of followers, while at the same time appealing to a narrower audience. A family going to Disney World could use #travel, which is useless if you’re, say, an international travel writer. #travelwriter may be a better option.

Consider using location-specific posts, too. And while you’re at it – geotags!

Instagram allows users to search by location, so when they search for places you’ve visited, BOOM – they find you.

Activity-specific posts help too. And regional-specific hashtags. The better you define the content, the more likely you are to receive the perfect set of eyeballs. You could even tag restaurants, hotels and businesses you visit on your trip. Who knows – they may pay you to come back!

Our final word of advice: create your very own travel-related hashtag. Make one that is specific to you – one that defines you and helps your followers find you. Then, use that hashtag consistently so your followers come to expect it. They may even start using it, thus leading their followers back to you.

6. Use Instagram Stories + Instagram Live

You have many tools at your disposal. The trick is to amplify your brand as efficiently – and cost-effectively – as possible without getting lost in the crowd.

“On Instagram stories, I love to promote my blog posts and latest Instagram posts to increase my engagement,” Stephanie says.

Instagram newbies are often so excited about entering the social space, they clutter their feed with post after post. But remember – quality trumps quantity. So there’s no reason to exhaust yourself by editing 5 photos and writing 5 captions every day. One really good, authentic post a day (or even just a few a week) can have a greater impact than multiple mediocre posts a day.

“When I first started on IG in 2014, I was posting photos four times a day starting at 9 AM,” says Cacinda of Points and Travel. “Once I reached 20K followers, I slowed down to one time a day at 9 am EST.”

On the other hand, when you’re traveling, there are a ton of sites and experiences you’ll probably want to post about. If you’re visiting Cairo, you may be tempted to post a photo of the pyramids and the Nile and the inside the pyramids and the Airbnb you’re staying at and your stroll through the local markets and…well, everything.

50+ Travel Questions That Will Increase Engagement on Instagram Stories

It is no secret that the Stories feature on Instagram can really drive your engagement. Not only that, but it allows you to get to know your followers better and what type of content they respond to.

The Questions sticker on Stories is my go-to to interact with followers, and I love to ask engaging questions about my favorite subject…TRAVEL! Within 24-hours of posting a travel question, I start reposting responses, tagging the account that answered. In turn, the follower I tagged may acknowledge the repost with a heart, a thank you, or even repost the answer on their stories, usually tagging my account as well.

Occasionally, a follower will send a direct message saying how much they enjoy answering the questions I ask and sometimes even state so in their own story repost of their answer. Since this is a popular way to interact and make people think about their own travels, I figured I would compile a list of my highest-performing questions that you can use!

Here is my top 50 travel questions list for you to use:.

(I love questions like this because it is one we can all learn from. Maybe it’s a holiday you and your followers have never heard of and want to learn more about. This is a great question to find out more about another country and its culture.)

(People love talking about food, so be prepared for a lot of engagement on this one!)

16. What’s the most incredible natural phenomenon you have witnessed?

( This about your own experiences. Have you seen the northern lights, a geyser, or Niagara Falls? Chances are your followers have seen some pretty amazing things too, some things you may not have ever heard of. This question can help grow your bucket list as well as those of your followers.)

17. What is the most dangerous/adventurous thing you have done in your travels?

(You can take this one a step further and have them tag the person. That way, when you share, you can tag both your follower and their travel buddy who may end up following you if they aren’t already!)

50. Respond with a travel-related emoji & I will repost a photo from your feed.

(This one is my absolute favorite and I use it often. Why? Well, everyone wants to get their account seen, gain more followers and increase engagement on Instagram. Sharing is a fantastic way to showcase some of your followers’ amazing travel photos and, oftentimes, they will repost one of your photos in return. I have had followers message me to say thanks and that they received several more followers because I shared one of their photos. It is a win-win!)

Bonus: Polls!

Using the poll sticker is another fun way to help drive engagement, and they are quick and easy for people to scroll through your Stories and answer as there are only two choices.

8 Business and Life Lessons I Would Give to My Younger Self Here are a few valuable lessons I would teach my younger self, gleaned from both successes and missed opportunities.

As we grow older and wiser, we often consider how we might have done things differently in our youth. It's crucial not to blame ourselves but rather to extract valuable lessons from those experiences.

In this article, I share eight lessons I would give to my younger self — insights drawn from both successes and missed opportunities, designed to guide anyone looking to navigate life's complexities with foresight and grace.

1. Relax — it will be fine

First and foremost, I'd reassure my younger self to relax — everything will indeed be fine.

Reflecting on my youth, I was perpetually enveloped in unease, a constant companion to my every step. Anxious thoughts about success and whether I'd "make it" in life frequently clouded my mind. But looking back, I realize those worries were a part of the journey that led me to where I am today. So, to my younger self , I'd say, take a deep breath; the path ahead may be uncertain, but it will guide you to your destined place.

2. Travel more

I traveled extensively as a digital nomad, especially through Southeast Asia. Yet, I believe there was potential to do so much more. Back then, I felt like I was able to do less work while traveling, and my business was suffering, but the truth is that 49% of digital nomads earn a higher income than when they were employees.

I won't forget that once inspired by the book Shoe Dog , I visited a Japanese networking event in Bangkok in 2017. I was the only guy without business cards. The whole ritual of handling a business card amazed me, but I thought, "That's so outdated" until someone explained to me that business cards are deeply ingrained in the Japanese culture — a practice rooted in over 400 years of cultural history — and still, 74% of Japanese sole proprietors and freelancers use business cards! You can't learn and experience something like that if you don't travel!

3. Work on your personal brand

While I did invest time in building it, looking back, I see the immense long-term benefits I could have leveraged further. A strong personal brand not only accumulates value over time but also opens numerous doors, offering opportunities that might otherwise remain out of reach. After selling my ex-blog Thrivemyway, I made good money, but I lost the accumulated snowballing effect of my brand. The website was in full authority mode. Now with my new personal brand Create & Grow , I'll need at least a year to get to the same level.

4. Start an agency

Building an agency is a great next step when you've already established your personal brand. It's relatively easy to set up (compared to a software business) and profitable to run and sell. Agency businesses are also growing in profits, with 46% of service business owners reporting more than 30% yearly growth .

However, running an agency comes with the risk of over-relying on a single client. Agencies that make a large chunk of their yearly revenue from one client risk a big crash should the client decide to drop. To keep your agency stable and appealing to investors, diversify your clients and focus on recurring (read "predictable") income.

5. Learn to stay focused on tasks

I was working at an airport lounge and I managed to finish a huge task in just 90 minutes. That's how I found out about the benefits of uninterrupted, focused work and Parkinson's law . It's crucial to develop productivity skills early on, enabling one to accomplish more tasks efficiently. Interestingly, it takes about 23 minutes to regain focus on a task once you've been distracted. Therefore, maintaining concentration while working is essential for effective time management.

6. Flip a website

Reflecting on the past, venturing into website flipping earlier stands out as a missed opportunity. My experience with selling my ex-blog last year validated the business model of buying, improving and then selling websites for profit. This process involves spotting undervalued websites, enhancing their value and selling them at a higher price after a period of growth, usually 12 months. I thought I would need lots of money to buy a working website. However, according to statistics, you can buy a starter website as low as a few hundred dollars .

7. Work in a startup

Looking back, joining startups in my twenties would have been ideal. That period's high energy is perfect for the fast-paced startup life, offering invaluable experiences and networking opportunities. It's a fact that approximately 20% of new startups close within their first year, and 90% of startups fail primarily due to a lack of funding, market need and proper execution. Now, my focus has shifted, and investing my energy in someone else's risky startup venture no longer matches my priorities.

8. Invest more, optimize taxes earlier

I remember I was at a coworking space in 2016, working my face off to make money freelancing when I overheard a chat about someone buying a Ferrari with Bitcoin profits. I wrongly assumed I'd missed the chance to invest. It wasn't too late. From 2015 to 2023, Bitcoin increased its price by over 173,000% .

This taught me to be more open to emerging investment opportunities, emphasizing that timing can be less critical in fast-evolving markets like crypto.

At the same time, I wish I optimized my taxes earlier. I started a small startup with partners and paying taxes early on suffocated it. Many startups do not pay dividends for many years, resulting in a 0% corporate income tax rate . I optimized my taxes four months after our little startup failed.

Reflect on your past with kindness, understanding that each step, even those marked by uncertainty, was crucial in shaping who you are today. Never regret anything or blame your younger self, only use it as a learning experience. And when you're in doubt, ask yourself: What would my future self advise me to do?

Kendall Jenner recalls having anxiety-induced ‘meltdowns on planes’ during early modeling days

Kendall Jenner’s anxiety issues were once triggered by air travel.

“I remember having these meltdowns on planes,” the “Kardashians” star, 28, shared in her summer 2024 Vogue cover story , which was published Thursday.

“They would come out of nowhere. I’d be like, ‘Oh my God, oh my God,’ something’s wrong with my heart: palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, double vision, tingles. The whole thing.”

Jenner said she would call her mom, Kris Jenner, “hysterically crying” and say, “I need them to stop the plane, I need them to turn around.'”

The fashion model has been very open about her struggles with mental health in the past.

In 2018, Kendall shared she didn’t walk any runways in Europe and New York City for the spring/summer fashion week shows that year because she felt she was “gonna go crazy.”

“I was on the verge of a mental breakdown,” she admitted to Elle at the time.

Then, in 2021, Kendall told Vogue that she has been experiencing anxiety since she was a child, and at times it making her feel as if she were “dying.”

“I remember being really young – I’d say 8, 9, 10 – and having shortness of breath and going to my mom and telling her that,” the Hulu star explained.

“I’ve had times where I feel like I need to be rushed to the hospital because I think my heart’s failing, and I can’t breathe, and I need someone to help me. Sometimes I think I’m dying.”

More recently, Kendall confessed on her reality show that she is scared to have children because of her mental health struggles.

‌”Honestly, the scariest part for me is, am I just going to get worse throughout life?” the reality star said during a conversation with Scott Disick in the October 2023 episode.

“Because I feel like it’s worse than ever right now. The older I get, is it just going to get worse and worse?”

Despite Kendall’s fears for the future, the 818 Tequila founder told Vogue for their latest issue that she has actually gotten her issues somewhat under control, noting it’s been two years since her last panic attack.

Kendall shared that deep breathing, distraction, meditation, journaling and periodic consultations with a spiritual healer have been really helpful — as well as speaking weekly with a psychotherapist.

“A huge thing I work on in therapy is feeling worthy of where I’m at and knowing that I can’t let what’s being said about me on the internet, especially about my worthiness, get in my head too much,” she explained. “I let it get there, and I think that’s what brings me down a lot of the time.”

Kendall shared that her older sister Khloé Kardashian has advised her to not read mean comments on social media to protect her mental health.

The face of L’Oréal Paris also makes an effort to get out of bed, put “one foot in front of the other” and get her “blood flowing” to make her feel better.

She added, “When I say I’m struggling right now, I’m not doing those helpful things. Choosing to sit in my bed and mope all day is setting myself up for failure.”
