CANNIBAL CORPSE

cannibal corpse tour 2022 canada

What I love about Cannibal Corpse is that their setlists are always a journey through all of their phases, mixing classics the likes of Unleashing the Bloodthirsty and Stripped, Raped and Strangled with newer stuff such as Kill or Become and Inhumane Harvest , this one form their most recent album Violence Unimagined . Corpsegrinder had the crowd in his bloody hands instantly, delivering not only a savage vocal performance but also interacting in a very fun way with all fans, either by throwing bottles of water to them or by challenging everyone to try to beat him in a headbanging duel during I Cum Blood (and of course, we all failed miserably as Corpsegrinder himself predicted). Another fun moment with Corpsegrinder was before Fucked With a Knife , when he dedicated it to all women and instead of hearing guys cheering that, he actually listened to A LOT of women screaming at the venue. He commented on that by saying there are usually only 20 women in their concerts, which is already a lot in his opinion, and when he asked the ladies to scream again they were even louder. Well, after such nice moment, the circle pit kept moving ferociously to Fucked With a Knife , as expected.

Cannibal Corpse is death metal band that formed in Buffalo, New York, US in the year 1988. The band achieved a cult following in 1991 and has released a steady stream of albums.

The band took inspiration from thrash metal bands like Slayer and Kreator, as well as other death metal bands like Autopsy and Morbid Angel. The band is also highly influenced by horror movies, which can be conveyed by the band’s music. The band is known for their highly controversial album covers and lyrics, which has lead to them being banned from several countries. The band originally consisted of bassist Alex Webster, guitarists Jack Owen and Bob Rusay, vocalist Chris Barnes, and drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz. The band released their debut self-titled demo in 1989, which immediately caught the attention of Metal Blade Records, who signed the band.

Cannibal Corpse released their full-length debut album “Eaten Back to Life” in 1990. The album was presented in a thrash metal style that contained fast-paced, distorted guitar riffs, thumping double bass drums, and deep, growling vocals. In 1991 the band released the album “Butchered at Birth”, which solidified their signature death metal style. Chris Barnes’ growling vocals became deeper on this album, which would determine the sound of Cannibal Corpse’s next albums. The band’s third studio album “Tomb of the Mutilated” was released in 1992 and would become banned in Germany due to the intense nature of the album artwork and lyrics. The album was praised by critics and “Rock Hard” magazine ranked it No. 278 for “The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time”. The album also contained the popular single “Hammer Smashed Face”, which also gained popularity due to its inclusion in the movie “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective”.

In 1993 guitarist Bob Rusay would leave the band and would be replaced by Rob Barrett. In 1994 the band released one of their most successful albums to date “The Bleeding”. The album was the band’s first album to place them on the Billboard charts. The album featured a more groove metal style as well as more technical guitar work. In 1995 vocalist Chris Barnes left the band and went on to form the band Six Feet Under. Barnes was replaced by George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher. The band released the album “Vile” in 1996, which made its way on the Billboard 200 chart. Pat O’Brien joined the band on guitars in 1998 and appeared on the album “Gallery of Suicide”.

The band’s ninth studio album “The Wretched Spawn” was the band’s last album to feature guitarist Jack Owen before he parted ways with the band. In 2006 the band released the album “Kill”, which featured the single “Make Them Suffer”. In 2009 the band released “Evisceration Plague”, which reached the No. 66 spot on the US Billboard 200 chart. The band’s increasing popularity would continue to show through 2012’s release “Torture” and 2014’s release “A Skeletal Domain”.

Live reviews

What’s in a name? Just the other day, I was remarking to a friend that Guardians of the Galaxy, just from the title alone, didn’t sound like the sort of film I’d be interested in; similarly, I can’t really imagine that Radio 3 listeners will be rushing out to procure the entire Cannibal Corpse discography any time soon. Just in case that wasn’t enough, though, they apply the sensibility to their song titles - ‘Hammer Smashed Face’ and ‘Skewered from Eye to Eye’ actually being among the less offensive - and themselves, with frontman George Fisher better known as Corpsegrinder, although presumably not to his mother. Nevertheless, Cannibal Corpse remain one of the great examples of the cult metal band, and retain a strong fanbase both in the UK and overseas; they’re not afraid to mix things up, either, touring with Children of Bodom back in 2009 despite the possibility of a clash in audiences. Needless to say, first time Corpse attendees should expect brutal noise levels, high technical proficiency, and a barrage of outrageous lyricism from Corpsegrinder that only those with the steeliest of nerves would consider to be anything less than a bit much; if mosh pits are your thing, though, the venue floors tend to pretty much be converted into one giant one throughout, so there’s that, at least.

This was my first Cannibal Corpse show and I can safely say this will not be my last. During the week of prior to the show a lot of shit was happening to the point where I needed a break from reality. The opening bands although at first I didn’t really care that much for actually peaked my interest in them so it was a great lineup for the tour. And so when Cannibal Corpse took the stage there presence felt like a good “you better listen to us or your fucking dead” vibe and I love that with death metal. While the show itself was amazing in itself. The best moment didn’t happen till after the show. You see my friend and I decided to wait by there bus to see if we could meet them. I honestly thought it’d never happen but I was proven wrong when all five members started to come out the back door to great, sign, and take pictures with there fans. I was lucky enough to have meet all five members and get pictures. They are really nice people to there fans so that adds another layer of appreciation to the band. So to sum up the night it was surreal. Like the ghostbusters, they came, they saw, they kicked some ass!

Cannibal Corpse put on a killer show. Extremely high energy and a good level of interaction with the crowd. You could definitely tell that these guys are professionals and love their jobs. I've been wanting to see Cannibal Corpse for a long time and I definitely wasn't let down by them. The only thing that I did not enjoy was certain crowd members that insisted on continuously throwing blows, kicks, elbows, and picking on certain smaller members in the pit. Despite this Dallas-based group supposedly made to make pits safer, they were far from it, being the main offenders.

Regardless, Cannibal Corpse is an absolute must for any metal fans, and would gladly see them again.

Really disappointed by the show, the setlist, and just everything. Seems like Cannibal Corpse is just going through the motions of their day job these days. I understand these guys are way out of their prime, and I was fortunate enough to see them in the mid 90's, which was a totally different experience. I understand Cannibal Corpse has a huge catalog, but they don't really play any of the classics anymore. Not a single song from Eaten Back to Life, nothing from The Bleeding. Disappointing all around. I can't even say they seem like they're even into it. Maybe it was an off night.

Cannibal Corpse was the best band with the best sound quality at the Slayer concert.

They should have been the second or third band playing and should have been able to play for at least an hour.

I had a great time there. They gave Amon too much time on stage.

Slayer was absolutely great and so was Lamb of GOD.

I HAD THE BEST TIME EVER OVERALL

AND THE PEOPLE WERE Great.

I had no problems what so ever.

I can't wait to attend the next concert there. The staff was great also.

Cannibal Corpse was absolutely brutal as ever for Summer Slaughter in RVA. Not only did they play every song the fans wanted to hear, they delivered each with so much intensity and soul...dark, brutal, metal soul. They were even so kind to sign autographs and take pictures with their fans after the show before loading onto the bus. As the years go by, Cannibal Corpse has withstood the test of time and came out on top. Much respect for this talented group.

The show last night at Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia Maryland was great. With a lineup like that there's no way it could be bad,but there is one thing I can say. Canibal Corpse always puts on a great show, but being they were the first to go on, They were not allowed enough time for their set. Still nasty, mean and as brutal as ever. Keep the slaughter and the meat grinders going, you sick bastards. Thanks for a great show!

I got a cracked/fractured rib because someone was trying to take my spot. The venue sounded perfect, wasn't too loud for unprotected ears but still had a lot of presence. The first band tribulation wasn't as good as I expected though. It was still a good concert and can't wait to see them again.

It was a sold out show, the crowd was wild and had some crazy mosh pits. Cannibal Corpse had a great set list with new and old material. I got the shirt I've been looking for from them as well at the show. What more could you ask for? It was pure Cannibal.

Cannibal Corpse will be touring in support of their critically lauded Violence Unimagined full-length, recently released via Metal Blade Records. Comprising eleven tracks, Violence Unimagined is state of the art death metal played with passion and breathless precision, making for another flawless addition to what is inarguably one of the premier catalogues of the genre. “ It really follows the path we’ve been going down for a few years now ,” notes Webster. “ I think we approach the writing in a similar way most every time: each of us try to write the heaviest, most memorable songs we can. We want each song to have its own identifiable character. Showing my age, I like to say you can ‘drop the needle’ on any point of one of our albums and quickly tell which song you’re listening to. “

While they continue to do what they do with aplomb, the one substantial change to Cannibal Corpse is the addition of guitarist Erik Rutan to their ranks, joining Webster, founding drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz, guitarist Rob Barrett, and vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher. Known for his roles in Morbid Angel , Ripping Corpse , and most notably fronting the mighty Hate Eternal , Rutan has long established himself as one of the most dynamic forces in contemporary death metal. Simultaneously, he has built up a reputation as one of the most in demand producers in metal, having previously produced four Cannibal Corpse albums (in addition to Violence Unimagined ), alongside the likes of Goatwhore , Soilent Green , and Belphegor . Filling in live on guitar since 2019, in 2020 he became a full member, contributing to the writing process. “ I think the most noticeable difference on this record will be the addition of Erik to the band. He wrote three full songs for the record, music and lyrics, and his songwriting and guitar playing have added something new, and I think his musical style integrated into ours very well ,” Webster enthuses. This is not all that he brings to the band. “ He’s a great friend of ours, so on a personal level, he’s been a perfect fit, as we knew he would be. Beyond that, he’s one of the hardest working people I know, in music or otherwise, and he maintains a high energy, positive demeanor in challenging situations where other people might go in a negative direction. This energy and great attitude rubs off on the rest of us as well. That’s really a perfect situation to have when you add someone to a band, or any kind of team: someone who’s great at what they do, and also inspires the people around them. “

“ Cannibal Corpse doesn’t simply continue to prove its relevance with Violence Unimagined, they’ve offered an album that’s as good as anything death metal fans could hope for in 2021. They sound as savage as a new band that’s trying to make its mark. ” – Blabbermouth

“ …the Floridians’ fifteenth studio album serves as a periodic reminder that, no matter how many pig-squealing, crypt-plundering, meat-sculpting scavengers follow in their entrail-strewn wake, nobody will ever topple them from atop their flesh-embroidered throne. ” – MetalSucks

“ …Cannibal Corpse are tearing through your eardrums with their trademark heavy as fuck death metal sound. ” – MetalInjection

“ After three decades and change, Cannibal Corpse have become the Motörhead of death metal – naturally reliable, ever in the zone, still louder and heavier than any of the bands who followed them. ” – Kerrang

“ Fifteen albums later and Cannibal Corpse continue to showcase an unrivaled dedication to sickness, offering eleven new horrifying tracks that bring their level of violence to heights unimagined. ” – New Noise Magazine
