• 1 Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Stop: 6 hours - Admission included You’ll arrive right at around 9:30am so you can squeeze in as many runs as you like with almost six hours of time on the hill before leaving at 4pm. With plenty of steep and deep powder, Kicking Horse offers heart-pumping vertical runs, steep chutes and wide-open bowls. Featuring abundant soft snow and high alpine terrain Kicking Horse has something for everyone. Wide open bowls and long, long groomed runs for cruising, steep chutes and tree runs for the more adventurous. There is almost always fresh powder to be found. My friend and I booked a tour online beforehand and we got picked up from a different hotel (only certain downtown hotels allow for pickup). Since it was in February, we dressed very warmly. Handwarmers and foot warmers would be advised. They provide headlamps which you can keep as a souvenir as well as snow shoes. Our group had about 12 people in it and we all fit comfortably in their van. The night hike was short and not too strenuous. We saw a waterfall and stopped at various points to gaze at the stars. One good tip for those with iPhones is to change the night mode setting from 3 seconds to 10 seconds in order to allow the photos to develop better. We had hot cocoa while on the trail and were given a packet of maple cookies. Overall, the night hike was a nice way to explore safely at night and view the beauty of nature. It is near Banff and it is very convenient to join the Trip. Standing on Millions of pounds of ice is very humbling. There was only two of us on the trip so Emma was like our personal guide, she was very informative and made it fun, getting us to walk in new untrodden snow and towards the end, to walk in snow with no snowshoes. My husband enjoyed the sliding down the slope while she started getting to make maple taffy and hot chocolate. Definitely recommend it as a trip to get out of the town and do something different.
