Where can I go off-roading?

There are several off-roading trails in the Flagstaff area for you to ride.

Flagstaff-Grand Canyon Stage Route This old Stage Route used to be very popular back in the day—so far back that it’s been a century since this route was used regularly for anything but recreation. This route is next to the Grand Canyon and is ideal for those visitors making their way up to the canyon in a Jeep or other off-roading capable vehicle. 

• Directions: Take Highway 180 North past the Grand Canyon Airport and turn onto Forest Road 302 and take that to Forest Road 301. 
• Distance/Time: The Route is 12 miles long from the North Kaibab Visitor Center at the Grand Canyon. 
• Road Conditions: Unpaved road.
• *Forest Road 301 outlines the old stage route if you get lost and need a reference point.

Plateau Lakes Drive This lovely loop drive is perfect for staying close to town. With great views and delightful weather you’re sure to feel relaxed with the wind in your face. 

• Directions: Drive 30 miles south of Flagstaff on Lake Mary road to Forest Road 213. Then head west for 15 miles until you hit Interstate-17 and head back up to Flagstaff. 
• Distance/Time: The entire loop is 80 miles 
• Road Conditions: Part of the loop is paved and part is unpaved.

Cinder Hills The locals call this spot “the cinders” and it is one of the best places in town to go off-roading without having to drive to far off the beaten path. An astonishing 13,500 acres have been reserved for off-roading at Cinder Hills. 

• Directions: This spot is by the Flagstaff Mall on Forest 776 
• Distance/Time: It’s an open area, so drive until your heart is content or until you run out of gas—literally. 

Note: Driving off of forest roads is permitted so long as no damage is done to the environment or wildlife.

My boyfriend and I had a great time on this tour. We shared a two-person ATV and took turns driving, and that was perfect. Our guide Tim was super attentive, friendly and funny. And the surrounding mountains were so beautiful. We even saw some pronghorn antelope on our ride!

My husband and I went on this tour today and it was amazing! We are 57 and 60 years old and we really enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide Tim, did a great job explaining the views, giving good information about what we were seeing.

Our guide Tim was amazing! He was funny, patient, attentive, and supportive...just an overall nice guy. The views were amazing throughout the 3 hr tour, and I felt quite secure in the ATVs despite the bumps and dips in the road. I highly recommend!

Gypsy also hit a famous L.A. eatery too. As we told you ... Gypsy and her stepmom Kristy are big fans of "Vanderpump Rules" -- so, they ended up going to SUR, no less, which was on their bucket list ... and where they got dolled up to chow down.

Gypsy ordered french fries and Sprite for dinner, and added a brownie and ice cream for dessert ... she even met 'VPR' star Peter Madrigal -- bringing reality TV to real life!

Fans and restaurant employees steadily streamed up to the table during the meal to congratulate Gypsy on her freedom and take a pic with her.

After a jam-packed L.A. day, Gypsy's now heading back to Louisiana ... flying out of the City of Angels early Friday morning -- and, we got her final impressions during an interview at LAX before she boarded her flight. Take a listen ... sounds like she's a fan of SoCal.

What a time amazing time with me and my son. The staff was so helpful they had gone above and beyond. Thank you for all your great efforts in creating a memorable experience. I did the 4 hr rental and it was amazing with all the great recommendations on the trails. Towards the end we got a pinch in the tire and got a flat the team came out fast and helped us out. No charge for a flat. I am going to be coming back they are amazing. No hidden fees up front and honest hard working group that wants you to have the best time that you can.

The whole staff was very informative, helpful, friendly, pleasant, and kind. They set up our tablet with the best directions and trails. The Polaris Turbo was so much fun to be in, first time being in the turbo. Our 8hrs went by quickly, the scenery was beautiful, even saw some Elk and deer out. Overall our Group had a blast and we'll be back! Thank you so much ATV rentals for a wonderful and memorable Sunday

Great experience. The owners were so helpful and provided a lot of great guidance to make sure our family had a great experience. The equipment was in perfect condition and was an overall great value.

We had such a great time with the UTV's we rented from Flagstaff ATV Rental! The 2 - 4 seaters we rented were in amazing condition. The crew was professional and explained everything perfectly for us. They mapped out the trails for us and had tablets with GPS to help navigate the day. First time customer but we'll be back! Thanks for a great day!!!

6 of us were in Flagstaff and wanted to go off roading last minute. We decided to rent 1/2 day for $450. The staff at ATV Rentals were accommodating, super friendly, informative and very helpful. The vehicle that accommodates 6 people was equivalent to a tiny truck. It was a tight fit. Being used to a Razor, it was slower and bumpier. I did like the fact that it was enclosed because it was a cold day. They included a cooler, ice and bottled water. All in all, a fun afternoon.

This is a bucket list experience!!!! So friendly and the 4x4 experience was amazing. Getting lost was fun with.

Our family of four had a terrific experience renting a 4 seater this past week. The rental process was very easy and the staff was great! We appreciated the guidance on good paths to take for our time. The vehicle ran well and we didn't have any issues with returning it and getting the hold removed.

Had a wonderful time! It was our first time ever driving a Polaris Turbo S and it was so much fun! We did the 8 hour full day rental, but had to bring it back 3 hours early because the gas got low. They did offer to refill it so we could go back out, but we were already back at the shop and didn't want to rush with the little time left. Very nice people though.They fill the tank initially but do not provide any extra gas while out, so keep that in mind if you are out and exploring. They did provide water and a little cooler which was nice. I'd do it again, but probably only a half day which I regret not doing for the price. For a half day (4 hours) rental it is around $550 and for the full day (8 hour) rental it was $860. So that was the only downside. If I would've known we run out of gas so quickly the half day rental (4hours) would've been perfect and we could've saved $300.
