Dooars Weather and Temperature
Weather and temperature across the year in dooars:.
The weather in Dooars is pleasant throughout the year. In summer the temperature does not go above 26°C, which is relatively less than the surrounding areas. In winter, it goes down to 2-3°C but does not touch the freezing point in general.
As the place is at the mountain foothills, it experiences longer monsoon though. For these favourable weather condition, the forest canopy grows very fast and the hills often stay green.
In the table below, we can get a basic idea of the temperature throughout the year
From the month of October to February, it is winter in the Dooars. The temperature goes down gradually and when the sun comes out- the weather becomes pleasant.
With the progress of winter, the mercury may drop near the freezing point, but snow is very uncommon in this area. Generally, the temperature hovers around 5 – 20°C. This pleasant weather is the perfect time for local festivals like the Teesta Tea and Tourism Festival between November and December.
The season begins in June with sporadic rains, but July is the true beginning of the monsoon season in here. It lasts till September, sometimes early October.
The average rainfall here varies between 35 – 50 cm. Between July and August, it rains cats and dogs in this region. The rivers run beyond capacity and the barrages often overload. This time of the year is the breeding season of the animals, so most of the sanctuaries remain closed between mid-June and mid-September.
The season begins in March and continues until early June. The temperature ranges from 20 to 35°C. The morning and evening are very pleasant, but the noon and early afternoon hours face scorching heat, especially near the sandy riverbeds.
The grassland withers, the rise in the heat and humidity level become uncomfortable for the tourists. This season has a relatively better chance of wildlife sighting owing to a less amount of greenery.
Best Time to Visit Dooars
The best time to visit Dooars is in the winter seasons. This time the weather is pleasant and perfect for enjoying the jungle safaris. As monsoon just ends, the rain transforms the forest into a green paradise and the rivers run full to the brim. The weather remains pleasantly cool during the day and cold in the night. Therefore travellers consider winter to be the best time to explore the sanctuaries and enjoy the jungle safaris.
How to Reach Dooars
The monsoon is not the most favourite time for general tourists. However, for the romantic, off-beat travellers and the adrenaline-freaks, it is a great time to come and experience the rain-soaked forest life. The roads are in comparatively good condition which makes it a major monsoon travel destination in West Bengal.
Except for the peak season, summer is a good time to visit and enjoy the beauty too, if you are ready to brave the heat and humidity in the noon.

Dooars Weather And Best Time To Visit Dooars
Planning A Trip To Dooars? Here’s a snapshot of Dooars weather and the best time to visit Dooars Dooars is an extensive alluvial floodplains located in the northeastern part of the country, forming a gateway to Bhutan. It is a beautiful terrain comprising the floodplains, Himalayan ranges in the backdrop, dense forests and luscious green tea gardens. The weather and climate of Dooars is quite similar to the one experienced in north Bengal, characterized by long winters and heavy monsoon showers. Here’s a guide to show you the best time to visor Dooars.
Summer (March to June) Summer months do witness an increase in the temperatures and they hover around the 21°C and 31°C mark. But it is not as hot and sultry as it is in the plains. While the summer is not extreme it may however become uncomfortable during the peak afternoons. Hence it is not considered one of the best times to visit the area.
Monsoon (July to September) Monsoon sets in, in the month of June and continues till September. In June the rainfall remains moderate but as months go by, particularly during the months of August and September, the showers become torrential. Due to heavy rainfall the sanctuaries too remain closed hence it’s not much fun visiting Dooars during these months except for the lush greenery that surrounds the whole area. Nature lovers may find it the best time to explore the fascinating region.
Winter (October to February) As the temperatures start dipping, Dooars becomes the most favored destination for tourists. As monsoon recedes, it leaves behind an absolutely gorgeously green surrounding that is intoxicating. There are no rains, skies remain crystal clear and weather is perfect for visiting the sanctuaries and enjoying the beauty of nature. A tourism festival called ‘Teesta Tea and Tourism fest’ is celebrated with much fervor in winter. Activities like paragliding, jungle safari and river rafting are also very popular among the adventurous tourists. In December and January, the temperatures can dip as low as 0°C but mostly hover around 10°C and 23°C.

3 attractions in Ontario ranked among most breathtaking landmarks in Canada
Latest Videos
Three attractions in Ontario have been ranked among the top 10 most breathtaking in all of Canada, according to a recent report.
There's no arguing that the True North is home to some seriously awe-inspiring sights and experiences, but, when stacked against each other, which of Canada's landmarks really takes the cake?
According to a new analysis by Ontario Casinos , three attractions in Ontario — including one in Toronto — have landed within the list of the top ten most breathtaking Canadian landmarks.
The study looked at Google reviews from the country's most popular landmarks and calculated the percentage of reviews that included terms like 'breathtaking,' and 'wow,' ranking them by percentage.
Coming in at fourth place, Ottawa's Rideau Canal is a no-brainer. Home to the largest naturally-frozen skating rink each winter (well, most winters ,) and peaceful boat tours in the summer, the manmade water way is certainly a crowning jewel of the province.
Another gem from the nation's capital, Ottawa's National Gallery of Canada is caught in a three-way tie with New Brunswick's Reversing Falls and PEI's Green Gables.
Rounding out the list, Toronto's own ( recently re-opened ) Art Gallery of Ontario came in at tenth place.
The complete list of Canada's most breathtaking attractions. By Ontario Casinos.
Which of the country's landmarks managed to come in first place, you ask? None other than Alberta's Lake Louise, which has also been ranked the fourth most scenic lake in the world.
While the news of Lake Louise taking the cake comes as no surprise, I'm still shocked that a few of the country's greatest hits, like Niagara Falls or the McDonalds at Queen and Spadina didn't make it.
To each their own, I guess.
