Los Angeles Cruise Guide
Due to its location along the Pacific Coast, many cruise itineraries to Mexico, the Panama Canal, South America, the Transpacific and Hawaii depart from the city of Los Angeles. This is the best port to find affordable getaways to the Mexican Riviera.
The port itself is actually located in Long Beach, which is a short drive away from the big-city L.A., but also has its fair share of attractions. You can stay overnight at the Queen Mary, a retired vintage luxury ocean liner that is rumored to be haunted and offers ghost tours. Take a dip in the calm waters at the beach, or take a whale watching tour along the Pacific Ocean. Once you’ve seen it all at the port, a short ride by car, Uber or the L.A. Metro brings you to the star-studded city of Los Angeles, where you can easily spend a week exploring all that it has to offer.
The city of Los Angeles is home to the biggest names in arts and culture, so it comes as no surprise that there’s a large variety of cultural attractions and museums. There are must-see art galleries like The Getty, which features classical exhibitions and artifacts, and the popular new museum, The Broad, which is free to enter, and features more modern exhibits. Music lovers can check out the GRAMMY Museum, or catch a concert at the beautifully designed Walt Disney Concert Hall. Los Angeles is the birthplace of American Cinema, so there’s also a variety of studio backlot tours that you can take, like Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, NBC and more. If you catch yourself walking along the historical streets of Hollywood, be sure to look down and spot some of your favorite celebrities names on their Stars at the Walk of Fame.
There are many ways to snap a picture of the infamous Hollywood sign, depending on the angle you’d like. If you have a car you can make a pit stop along Deronda Drive, and take a quick walk over to the sign. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, take the 6-mile hike along the Brush Canyon Trail, where you’ll eventually get that picture-perfect shot. You can also see the sign from outside of the Griffith Observatory, where for a small fee you can go up to the top of the observatory and take in the best panoramic views of the city of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles is also known for its diverse range of shops. For high-end designer trends, be sure to explore Rodeo Drive, where you might even run into a celebrity or two. For hip vintage and thrift shops, walk along Melrose, and for the ultimate cheap finds, check out the Los Angeles Fashion District. There’s also no shortage of food, with delicious restaurants and popular chains on every block. Los Angeles is home to In-N-Out Burger, a popular West Coast fast food chain, as well as many other restaurants owned by celebrity chefs and popular Instagram-worthy cafés.

Uncertainties in the red sea and surrounding region prompts rerouting of global voyages.
By downloading this image you agree to the Princess asset use terms and conditions
SANTA CLARITA, Calif., (April 30, 2024) – Given the ongoing situation in the Red Sea and surrounding area and following extensive consultation with global security experts and government authorities, Princess Cruises is revising the itineraries for its two 2025 World Cruises, which will no longer visit the Middle East or Asia, and now instead, will offer new port stops in Africa and Europe.
“A Princess World Cruise is truly the voyage of a lifetime and after careful consideration with guidance from global security experts and government authorities, we know our guests will understand and appreciate the change to our upcoming 2025 itineraries to avoid certain areas,” said Terry Thornton, chief commercial officer of Princess Cruises. “These global events beyond our control have necessitated these reroutings but we are pleased to continue to ensure these world cruises retain destination-rich itineraries with incredible stops along the west Africa coast and the Mediterranean.”
Island Princess World Cruise
Sailing from North America on Island Princess, the 116-day World Cruise offers two roundtrip options with departures from both Ft. Lauderdale, embarking January 5, 2025, and Los Angeles on January 20, 2025, and ends in Los Angeles on May 17, 2025. This destination dreamers delight will traverse over 36,700 nautical miles, visiting 46 destinations in 24 countries and six continents. The voyage includes visits to historic Bar, Montenegro and Taranto, Italy, along with inaugural World Cruise calls to the idyllic Greek Island of Patmos and to Volos – for the Monasteries of Meteora.
The revised World Cruise itinerary, from February 16-April 9, departs Sydney and will travel to Melbourne and Perth, then on to South Africa. From there, the cruise resumes the scheduled itinerary starting in Valletta, Malta on April 9.
Following is the amended portion of the voyage:
Those guests scheduled to originally depart or join the cruise from Dubai on March 14, 2025, will now embark or disembark four days earlier on March 9, in Cape Town, South Africa. Booked guests disembarking in Cape Town will be refunded the amount equivalent to four days of the cruise fare and those joining earlier will not incur an added cost to their cruise fare. All these guests will also receive a $300 onboard credit as a gesture of good will.
Crown Princess World Cruise
Departing from Down Under, Crown Princess - the largest ship to ever host a World Cruise - is scheduled to depart Auckland May 31, 2025; and Sydney June 4, 2025; and sail on a 113-day adventure visiting 42 destinations in 22 countries, across five continents. This cruise will also bypass the Red Sea and surrounding region, including the transit of the Suez Canal. The ship will travel via Africa instead of the Red Sea and Asia itinerary. The fully revised itinerary is currently being finalized and will be communicated shortly.

"Big Nude Boat" offers a trip to "bare-adise" on a naked cruise from Florida
By Li Cohen
Updated on: May 2, 2024 / 8:20 AM EDT / CBS News
Like to travel light? One cruise ship soon to set sail from Florida is making sure all you need is the bare necessities – no shoes, no clothes but plenty of service.
" The Big Nude Boat " will take travelers from Miami to the Caribbean on "an 11-day adventure back to Bare-adise," the website says. Setting sail from Feb. 3 through Valentine's Day 2025, the trip offers a "stress-free, clothes-free experience" during which up to 2,300 passengers can roam the ship in the nude while out at sea.
"It's our pleasure to provide you with the luxury of deciding what NOT to wear," Bare Necessities Tour and Travel says.
@cbsmornings Would you dare to set sail on a nude cruise? 🚢 Cruisebare's upcoming full-ship nude cruise, departing from Miami in February next year, is making waves. Even #TonyDokoupil is down to go. 🌊 #cruises #vacation #experience #miami #sail ♬ original sound - CBS Mornings
Passengers won't be allowed to be naked when the ship is docked, but can ditch their usual attire once they are anchored or out on the water. And when clothing is optional, standard nudist etiquette must be abided by, the website says. When sitting, nude passengers must either wear a thong or sit on a towel or some kind of fabric. And while the self-serve buffet on the pool deck is a clothes-free area, passengers must be dressed for all dining room meals – and no, bathrobes don't count.
Photos and videos will also not be permitted unless all individuals being documented give consent.
"The Big Nude Boat" is just one of the cruises offered by Bare Necessities, which says on its website that the company has been "working to break down the barriers against social nudity and make clothing-optional vacationing a viable and acceptable option for all."
"Social nudity is not a sexual activity, and we strive to dispel the misconception that it is anything but natural and beautiful," the company says. "We have made strides in the acceptance of nude vacationing and our wide range of cruise charters are a testament to our success."

The alumni roster for the inaugural Raiders Fan Cruise will be announced soon, the team noted. For more information, visit www.raidersfancruise.com.
The Raiders have used their practice facility in Henderson as their training camp site since moving to Las Vegas in 2020, but that could change this summer.
Sixth-round pick Dylan Laube, a small-school running back from a small town, thinks he will form a bond with Raiders fans through his personality and playing style.
The Raiders have a big decision to make, as a popular name at quarterback falls to them when they are on the clock in our very early 2025 NFL mock draft.
The NFL draft is over, but Raiders fans still have plenty of questions, especially about their quarterbacks. Will it be Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew?
Second-year quarterback Aidan O’Connell is one of several Raiders players who will wear a different jersey number this season.
The Raiders have had a decorated history at the wide receiver position, but one current player is making a case to be included among the all-time greats.
Former Raiders linebacker Bill Romanowski and his wife are mired in a civil case brought on by the U.S. government alleging they owe more than $15.5 million in taxes.
The Raiders made a surprising selection with their first-round pick this year. But here’s how they could get creative to use two tight ends on offense.
A player being labeled as an NFL Draft bust can be subjective, but BestOdds.com has employed a simple methodology designed to create the most credible possible rankings.
Raiders running back Zamir White will be sporting a new jersey number next season as he takes over the starting role.

Princess Cruises Announces Revised 2025 World Cruise Itineraries
Uncertainties in the Red Sea and Surrounding Region Prompts Rerouting of Global Voyages
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. , April 30, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Given the ongoing situation in the Red Sea and surrounding area and following extensive consultation with global security experts and government authorities, Princess Cruises is revising the itineraries for its two 2025 World Cruises , which will no longer visit the Middle East or Asia , and now instead, will offer new port stops in Africa and Europe.
"A Princess World Cruise is truly the voyage of a lifetime and after careful consideration with guidance from global security experts and government authorities, we know our guests will understand and appreciate the change to our upcoming 2025 itineraries to avoid certain areas," said Terry Thornton , chief commercial officer of Princess Cruises . "These global events beyond our control have necessitated these reroutings but we are pleased to continue to ensure these world cruises retain destination-rich itineraries with incredible stops along the west Africa coast and the Mediterranean."
Island Princess World Cruise Sailing from North America on Island Princess, the 116-day World Cruise offers two roundtrip options with departures from both Ft. Princess is launching an all-inclusive, 4-month, around-the-world cruise for $20,000— see what it'll be like
- Princess Cruises announced a 114-day world cruise to 52 destinations in 2026, starting at $20,000 per person.
- Guests who book early would get a free, all-inclusive package, a first for Princess' global itineraries.
- Extended and all-inclusive cruises have emerged as big trends in the vacation industry.
Princess Cruise's new around-the-world voyage will hit two vacation trends in one itinerary.
In January 2026, the company says its Coral Princess will embark on a 114-day cruise to 52 ports in 28 countries and six continents — more destinations than any of its previous global sailings .
It's the Carnival Corp brand's latest appeal to the extended cruising trend . But it's not the only fad this four-month vacation is targeting.
The sailing, which starts at $20,000 per person, also marks the first time Princess is offering a complimentary all-inclusive package as a way to entice early bookings.
Ultra-long and all-inclusive cruises have emerged as big trends in the industry.
Regent Seven Seas, Azamara, and Oceania's 2024 around-the-world cruises all sold out before departing in January. The former was fully booked within three hours, while every cabin on the latter was called for in 30 minutes.
Besides being high-end, these three companies share one commonality: some level of all-inclusiveness , as is common with premium cruise lines.
Mass-market cruise companies rarely go the all-inclusive route.
Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian are generally beloved for their affordability.
But if you want to experience all their ships have to offer, be prepared to face a list of up-charged amenities like pay-to-play rides and specialty restaurants . After all, there's a reason their base fares are much cheaper than their increasingly popular ultra-luxury, all-inclusive counterparts.
But Princess has been increasingly vying for a slice of the luxury cruiser pie.
The cruise line says guests who book its 2026 world cruise early (that is, by the end of October) will receive its most inclusive Princess Premier package for free. The perk — launched two years ago — covers amenities that typically have a fee, like WiFi, premium drinks, some specialty restaurants, and workout classes.
Travelers who reserve one of the ship's high-end cabins by the same deadline would also receive complimentary airport transfers and airfare, services normally exclusively offered by luxury cruise lines .
The itinerary would have two roundtrip embarkation options: Fort. Lauderdale, Florida, on January 5, 2026, or Los Angeles 16 days later.
From there, the 2,000-guest Coral Princess would sail more than 35,000 nautical miles to ports in North America, the Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Australia, Asia, the Mediterranean, Europe, and Central and South America.
It wouldn't be Princess' longest voyage — that title goes to its 116-day world cruise in 2025 — but it would be one of its most destination-heavy.
While two days longer, next year's around-the-world cruise would hit six fewer ports and four fewer countries than its 2026 counterpart.
According to the itinerary, about half of the 2026 voyage consists of sea days.
That's a lot of time on the water with no land in sight. Luckily, travelers can keep themselves entertained by attending lectures and programs related to the destinations, leisuring around the adult-only lounge, or taking a dip in Coral Princess' four pools.
The 21-year-old ship also has 10 places to grab a bite, although the Italian and steakhouse restaurants are considered specialty. Premier is the cruise line's most inclusive package, but it only includes 16 free dinners at these upcharge restaurants, paced once a week.
Princess is still a mass-market cruise line, after all.
The company has been increasingly dangling its inclusive package as a big perk.
The company says its two-month-old Sun Princess will debut in the US in October with its first-ever Sanctuary Collection . Travelers who splurge on these expensive and luxurious accommodations would be rewarded with two major benefits: a private lounge and Princess Premier.

In Russia, April Fools’ Day Hoaxes Compete With the Actual News : Media: Citizens learn about snakes in Moscow sewers and a potion that covered Gorbachev’s birthmark. One of those reports is for real.

Karate specialists are hired to collect bus fares from recalcitrant passengers. Poisonous snakes multiply in the Moscow sewers, terrifying residents. The Russian Communist Party abandons some sacred tenets of Marxism and Leninism.
Friday was April Fools’ Day, and the Russian news media was full of tales that imaginative journalists had waited a whole year to make up.
The catch: Some of Friday’s headline-grabbing stories--including the three above--were for real. In a society that is so rapidly falling apart and reinventing itself, truth is often weirder than fiction.
With journalistic hoaxes mixed in indiscriminately among news dispatches describing real and surreal events, Russian newspaper readers and television viewers could be forgiven for believing that:
* Mikhail S. Gorbachev tested an anti-baldness potion during a recent trip to South Korea and sprouted curly hair over his famous birthmark. (The newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets sure made it look that way in a photograph of the former Soviet president.)
* Russia’s alcohol industry has invented a chewy “vodka bar”--flavored with lemon, coconut or salted cucumber--to compete with Mars and Snickers bars.
* Owing to a lack of cash, a meatpacking plant is paying its employees’ salaries in sausage; its retired workers are collecting their pensions in the form of bones.
* The pro-Communist Agrarian Party is trying to train insects to attack Russia’s new private farms and leave the collectives alone.
And then there was reality:
* The government news agency Itar-Tass reported the day’s currency exchange rates, then followed up with news of a new “special convertible bank note” with a value of 5,000 Russian rubles on one side and five German marks on the other.
* One report--not made up--said the Communists had renounced “all revolutionary leaps and forcible methods” for achieving socialism.
“There are two problems with Russia--roads and fools,” wrote Nikolai Gogol, the great Russian satirist, who was born on April Fools’ Day, 1809. Under Communist rule, Russians talking among themselves raised satire to a new art, seizing on April 1 to “breathe the fresh air of humor,” in the words of Benedict M. Sarnov, a modern literary critic.
But it is only since the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 that Russians have joked on this scale in print. Even television, the medium under tightest control by the Kremlin, joined in Friday’s orgy of pranks. Few public figures, in government or the opposition, escaped ridicule.
* Rossiskaya Gazeta reported that Freemasons had kidnaped Vladimir V. Zhirinovsky, Russia’s most famous fascist, and cut off his tongue.
* Komsomolskaya Pravda published an “interview” with the parrot of former Vice President Alexander V. Rutskoi, who was arrested for armed rebellion last fall but is now out of prison and back in politics.
“Let them make soup out of me, but I won’t let my master run for president,” the bird, identified as “Gosha,” was quoted as squawking. “It is better to sit in a cage than in the Kremlin.”
Some humor was more subtle. The evening news program “Vesti,” mimicking the tone of Soviet boasts about production quotas, reported that Russia’s still-prevalent collective farms had passed technical muster and were “97% ready” for spring planting. The screen showed tractors rusting in the snow.
Most of the jokes played off Russians’ bewilderment with life after communism. One fictitious report had chemical arms producers converting their industry to produce spray-on tights. Another claimed that capitalists were bringing double-decker trolley buses to Moscow, to be followed by triple-deckers if all goes well.
After so much ethnic warfare spawned by the Soviet breakup--in places such as Georgia, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan--the Moscow Tribune asked people on the street what they thought of ethnic cleansing in Brutistan. It published their replies Friday, along with their photographs.
Brutistan doesn’t exist.
