ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DUBAI TOURIST VISAS

The Dubai government has an ‘easy to understand’ visa policy for tourists. Next is a general overview of the process, where we shall look into the different types of Dubai tourist visas and the documentation needed to apply.

If you plan to visit Dubai soon, this blog is for you. Remember, you must get a tourist visa to visit the city for leisure activities.

FIVE-YEAR MULTIPLE ENTRY TOURIST VISA

This visa benefits families of expats residing in the UAE as they can visit their loved ones easily without going through the application process multiple times.

Passport holders of all nationalities can apply for the five-year multiple-entry tourist visa as approved by the UAE Cabinet during a meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The visa based on self-sponsorship will allow the individual to stay in the country for up to continuous 180 days. Furthermore, valid 5-year tourist visa holders can request an extension for 90 days to enter and exit the UAE as often as needed.

The government announced this multi-entry tourist visa in 2022. Tourists do not require a sponsor. However, a six-month bank statement reflecting a 4,000 US dollar balance (or equivalent in other currencies) has to be submitted with the visa application.

DUBAI VISA ON ARRIVAL

Passport holders of some countries do not require a visa to visit Dubai. Dubai tourist visa requirements may change depending on your nationality.

Can I enter Dubai with a one-way ticket on a tourist visa?

If you are planning to visit Dubai on a tourist visa, it is important to understand the entry requirements and necessary documentation. One common question that arises is whether it is possible to enter Dubai with a one-way ticket on a tourist visa.

While it is generally recommended to have a round-trip ticket when traveling on a tourist visa, Dubai does allow entry with a one-way ticket under certain conditions. The decision ultimately lies with the immigration officers at the point of entry, and they may ask for additional documentation or proof of onward travel.

To increase your chances of entering Dubai with a one-way ticket, here are a few tips:

  • Show proof of accommodation: Having a confirmed hotel reservation for your stay in Dubai can demonstrate that you have a planned itinerary and a place to stay during your visit.
  • Show proof of sufficient funds: It is important to have enough money to cover your expenses during your stay in Dubai. This can be in the form of bank statements or credit card statements.
  • Show proof of return or onward travel: Even though you have a one-way ticket, it is advisable to have proof of your onward travel plans. This can be in the form of a confirmed flight ticket to your next destination or a visa for your next country of visit.

By providing these documents and demonstrating your intention to comply with the visa requirements, you increase your chances of being allowed entry into Dubai with a one-way ticket. However, it is important to note that the final decision lies with the immigration officers, and they may still request additional documentation or deny entry.

In conclusion, while it is possible to enter Dubai with a one-way ticket on a tourist visa, it is advisable to have a round-trip ticket and necessary documentation to avoid any complications or potential issues at the point of entry.

UAE/Dubai tourist visa: Requirements and application procedure

Updated: September 6, 2023

UAE or Dubai Tourist Visa Image

Over 70 nationalities do not require a UAE or Dubai tourist visa to enter the UAE or Dubai. Rest must obtain a prearranged UAE tourist visa through a UAE-based sponsor.

A UAE tourist visa can only be applied for through a sponsor. Any UAE-based airline, hotel, company, Emirate national or UAE resident can sponsor your UAE tourist visa.

Thankfully, all UAE or Dubai tourist visas are e-visas. You can apply online and receive the e-visa in the email.

Indian nationals with a valid US visa or a residence permit from the US, UK or EU can get a Visa on Arrival at all international airports.

UAE VISA EXEMPTION

UAE immigration refers to VISA-EXEMPTION as VISA ON ARRIVAL. But you will not fill out any forms, pay any fee or receive any visa sticker or print. When you arrive at the airport, you will head straight to the immigration and present your passport. You will be stamped and given entry. Therefore, in my opinion, it’s a VISA EXEMPTION and hence we will refer to it as a VISA EXEMPTION.

UAE or DUBAI VISA ON ARRIVAL

UAE or Dubai Visa on Arrival - Fee Receipt

UAE Visa on Arrival is available for Indian passport holders with a valid visa from the US or a residence permit from the US, UK or any EU country.

Who is eligible for UAE Visa on Arrival

Only INDIAN passport holders with a valid US visa , US green card or residence permit from the UK or any EU country are eligible to obtain UAE Visa on Arrival.

Validity of UAE Visa on Arrival

UAE Visa on Arrival is valid for 14 days. It’s possible to extend it once for another 14 days.

How long can you stay in UAE with Visa on Arrival?

You can stay up to 14 days in the UAE with your Visa on Arrival. You can extend your visa for another 14 days at any AMER center in UAE. In that case, you can stay a total of 28 days in the UAE.

Documents required

You need the following documentation to obtain a UAE Visa on Arrival.

  • Original passport
  • Your boarding pass
  • A credit/debit card to pay the fee (you can also pay in cash in AED or USD in Dubai or Sharjah airports)
  • Completed application form (only needed in Sharjah airport and they will provide you with one)

Visa on Arrival fee varies from 105-140 AED depending on the airport.

Since it’s only Indian passport holders with a US visa, US green card or a residence permit from the UK or EU country, there will not be many in the line. So the Visa on Arrival process wouldn’t take more than a few minutes.

Obtaining Visa on Arrival at the airports in UAE

If arriving at Dubai airport, you must stop by the Marhaba Services desk to get your documents verified and pay the visa fee.

If arriving at Abu Dhabi airport, you must head straight to the immigration check. The immigration officer will verify your passport, and visa/residence permit and accept the visa fee payment.

UAE or DUBAI TOURIST VISA

A UAE or Dubai tourist visa can only be applied through a UAE-based sponsor or an authorized agent. A sponsor can be a UAE-based airline, UAE-based hotel, UAE national or resident, UAE-based company or government entity or a UAE-based tour operator.

The sponsor is responsible for your actions in the UAE. If you overstay your visa, the sponsor is held responsible and will face consequences by the government of UAE.

Why do you need a sponsor for a UAE tourist visa?

A UAE-based sponsor is mandatory for all UAE tourist visas. Your sponsor is responsible for all your actions while you are in the UAE. They must make sure you leave the country in time without overstaying your visa. If you don’t know anyone personally in the UAE, you can use either your airline, hotel or tour agent for your visa processing.

It’s silly to still use sponsors in this day and age. The sponsor model is an old model and many countries are moving away from such ways of visa processing. But countries such as UAE, Singapore, etc. are still stuck with this visa model.

Which sponsor or agent should you use for your UAE tourist visa?

If you don’t have a sponsor, you can use a UAE-authorized agent to apply for your UAE tourist visa. There are a bazillion agents these days processing UAE tourist visas, including VFS Global.

Thanks to the internet, you can apply for a UAE tourist visa through an agent completely online in the comfort of your home. All you need is a scanned copy of your Passport ID page and a digital passport-size photo.

The fee, documentation and processing time vary by agent. Local agents in your country are usually cheaper but you must do your due diligence on their authenticity, hidden charges and processing time before applying through them.

Which agent do I recommend for a UAE visit visa?

My preferred agent for UAE or Dubai tourist visas is Etihad Airways. I usually prefer a reputed international agent, so I went with Etihad Airways. They only act as an agent for your visa and you don’t have to fly with Etihad Airways. You can fly with any budget airline and travel to/from any international airport in the UAE.

Other agents that you can use and their fee for a UAE 30-day single-entry tourist visa is below.

My preferred agent

  • Etihad Airways | 361 AED | Few hours | No security deposit

UAE based agents

  • Arabiers | 359 AED | 24-48 hours
  • Sharjah Airport Travel Agency (SATA) | 335 AED

India based agents

  • MakeMyTrip | Approx. 311 AED | 7-9 days

IMPORTANT Some agents will charge a security deposit which will be refunded to you on your exit from the UAE. So do your due diligence before applying for your UAE tourist visa with any of the above agents.

I have a detailed article on how to apply for a UAE or Dubai tourist visa online with Etihad Airways. Follow the article for step-by-step instructions on how to apply for your UAE tourist visa.

What types of UAE tourist visas are available?

Below are some of the different types of tourist visas available.

  • 30-day single-entry tourist visa
  • 90-day single-entry tourist visa
  • 30-day multiple-entry tourist visa
  • 90-day multiple-entry tourist visa
  • Long-term tourist visa

Most tourists usually need a 30-day single-entry tourist visa. It’s also the cheapest of all types of tourist visas. The procedure to apply for any of the above types of visas is pretty much the same, except for the fee.

Validity of UAE visit visa

All UAE tourist visas are valid for 60 days within which you must enter the UAE. Then depending on your visa, you will be given that many days of permission to stay in the UAE.

For example, if you hold a 30-day single-entry tourist visa, your visa will be valid for 60 days. You can enter the UAE anytime within that 60 days. When you enter, immigration will give you 30 days to stay in the UAE.

When to apply for your Dubai visit visa

You can apply for your UAE visit visa as early as possible. But apply at least 5 working days prior to your trip. Processing can take time and some agents require up to 10 working days to process.

How long can you stay in the UAE with a tourist visa

You can stay up to 30 days or 90 days depending on your visa. You can also extend the visas within the UAE for an additional 30 days or 90 days.

Documents required for UAE tourist visa

Usually, you will need the following documents.

  • A scan of your passport ID page
  • A recent colored digital photo
  • A copy of your flight ticket

ENTRY AND EXIT PROCEDURE AT THE AIRPORT

UAE Dubai Entry Stamp in Passport

Entering the UAE by air

After you arrive at the airport, walk towards passport control and baggage claim.

If you hold an Indian passport and are planning to obtain a UAE Visa on Arrival, head to the following visa agent desk for your Visa on Arrival process. Once your Visa on Arrival is processed head to the immigration.

  • Sharjah Airport: SATA
  • Dubai Airport: Marhaba Services
  • Abu Dhabi: There are agents involved for Abu Dhabi airport, so head straight to the immigration

At the immigration, present your passport, boarding pass and Visa on Arrival fee receipt (if you hold an India passport and obtained Visa on Arrival) or your Dubai visit visa print.

The officers may ask you a few questions about your trip such as whether it’s your first time in UAE, how long you will stay, etc. You may be asked to show your return/onward ticket and your hotel booking.

If you are traveling on a one-way ticket, you can use OnwardTicket to get proof of an onward ticket.

Get a proof of onward ticket for your trip from OnwardTicket

Leaving UAE by air

UAE airports have automated passport controls when leaving the country. You will simply arrive at one of the automated passport control kiosks, scan your passport and follow the voice instructions. When the voice says move forward and face the camera, you will do so. Then the exit gate will open and you will exit. No exit stamp is given.

If you are having any issues with automated passport controls, you will be sent to a manned passport control counter.

Dubai Global Village at Night

A UAE or Dubai tourist visa is not required for 0ver 70 nationalities. Other nationalities must obtain a prearranged UAE tourist visa through a UAE-based sponsor or authorized agent.

All UAE or Dubai tourist visas are e-visas. You can apply online with your preferred agent and receive the e-visa in the email.

Indian nationals with a valid US visa or a residence permit from the US, UK or EU can get a Visa on Arrival at all international airports.

It’s fairly easy….

Thinking of visiting Dubai, but you’re not sure how to get a tourist visa? Perhaps you already live in this gorgeous city and want to share it with family and friends, but aren’t sure how to go about securing the ever-important visa. For some it’s as easy as showing up at the airport, for others, there is a process that needs to be followed.

Here is everything you need to know about getting a tourist visa for Dubai.

No visa required

Citizens of the GCC areas do not require any sort of visa to enter Dubai. You simply need to provide your passport or your national ID at the point of entry and you will be granted entrance.

Visa on arrival

If you fall into this category, you’re in luck because there are certain countries that can simply arrive at Dubai International Airport and receive a tourist visa, on arrival.

There are a total of 50 countries that receive visas on arrival. Some include The United Kingdom (UK), The United States of America (USA), and countries that are part of the EU. For some countries you will be eligible for a 30-day visa, and for others a 90-day visa, with the possibility of extension.

Indian citizens who are holders of tourist visas from the USA, green cards, or have a residence visa in the UK or EU will also receive a visa on arrival, for 14 days, provided that the green card and residence visas have been valid for more than six months.

If you are a Mexican passport holder, you will be granted a multiple-entry visa on arrival. Your visa is valid for up to 180 days and is valid for six months from the date that the visa has been issued.

The list of countries that are able to attain a tourist visa on arrival in Dubai or the UAE may change from time to time and so you can easily see if you are eligible for a tourist visa on arrival by following the steps here .

Pre-arranged visa

When you do not fall under the above categories that means you need to apply for a tourist visa before you enter Dubai. This can be done in a number of ways.

You can easily apply directly through certain airlines including FlyDubai and Emirates . Alternatively, you can organise a tourist visa through licensed travel agents, tour operators and the hotel you will be staying at.

It is important to note that you cannot apply for a tourist visa through the UAE Embassy, one of the organisers mentioned above will apply for your visa on your behalf through the visa-issuing authorities here in Dubai.

Is Return Ticket Mandatory for UAE Visit Visa?

Dubai 3-month visit visa price

July 27, 2022 | 13 min read

facebook

When applying for a UAE visit visa, there are requirements that you have to fulfill. Yes, you need to have a confirmed return air ticket. Among the other documents, you will be prompted to present the entry point to UAE before being allowed to enter.

At the airport, your traveling documents are checked first by your home country and second by your destination immigration officers. The immigration officer will require you to present a confirmed return air ticket, and you should have paid for the return air ticket to be confirmed.

Therefore, it is not about showing you have booked a return ticket. Instead you have paid for it. You can later cancel the ticket if you will not be returning. The rationale behind the UAE government requiring anyone entering UAE on a visit visa to have a confirmed air ticket is to ensure that the visitor does not overstay.

If you have a return or an onward ticket booked, it is presumed that you will leave the country before your visit visa's validity period ends, if not sooner.

Finding the Best Flight Tickets and Return Ticket Refundable One

dubai tourist visa with air ticket

Airline tickets that are considered refundable allow you to receive a credit or debit card refund or a refund via another payment method of your choosing, should you cancel your flight after purchasing the ticket.

Certain tickets are entirely refundable; the only fee you'll be charged is an administration charge from Alternative Airlines. An airline service fee is necessary for specific tickets to initiate a refund request.

Arabiers

In addition to questions regarding your return tickets, you can have questions regarding the other requirements, which we will explain below.

1. Hotel Booking

The immigration officer will not ask you to present a confirmed hotel booking when entering the UAE. You will be prompted to show your Passport, UAE visa, and a copy of the confirmed return air ticket. These documents are enough to clear you to enter UAE as a regular visitor.

2. Passport

Every entering UAE must have a passport that won't expire for at least another six months after arriving in the UAE from the day they entered the country.

3. Travel Insurance

Although having insurance for your visit is not required to enter the UAE, it is strongly recommended. At the time of application for a visa to the UAE, all visitors to the UAE are required to have a valid medical insurance policy; an external health insurance policy will not be accepted. This rule was passed by the government of the UAE and required all visitors.

The cost of medical care in the UAE is skyscraper-high; consequently, if you want someone to have your back in a medical emergency, you should buy travel insurance for the UAE.

The insurance will cover you for medical emergencies and various other contingencies, including flight delays, loss of passport, personal liability bonds, lost luggage, and so on.

If you would like to get a UAE residence visa, it is possible without exiting the country. Those eligible for the UAE residence visa or visa change are investor/ partner visa, employment visa, and family/residence visa.

Therefore, if you intend to convert your canceled visa or your current visit visa into a residence visa , you will be required to pay a fee of AED 650 to obtain your residence visa and continue to remain within the nation. You will be able to pay this fee at any of the typing centers or immigration centers.

After the resident visa has been approved, an additional payment of AED 540 plus the application fee is required to alter your status. You must have a valid visit visa, a new visa, and your original passport.

Any changes to your visa status must be made well before the grace period or your visit visa runs out. After the current step in the procedure is finished, the file containing the applicant's information will be given to the new sponsor.

At the time of the change of status at the immigration counter, a fee of AED 25 per day will be levied if there is a delay in the application. If the applicant is only on a visit visa, the total amount of the fine can be different. Only when the status has been changed are medical examinations performed.

dubai tourist visa with air ticket

If you notice your UAE visit visa is about to expire and would like to extend your stay in UAE, you must submit an extending Visa request 2-3 days before their last day.

The whole process of extending a UAE visit visa can be done while sited in the comfort of your home. You don’t have to exit the country to extend the visa. The UAE, unlike before, allows visitors on visit visas to extend their visa stay while residing in UAE. It is not even possible to extend twice up to 60 days.

Advantages of Extending Visa Without Exiting

When you can change your status within the country, there is no need to leave, eliminating the need to go through the arduous process of leaving and reentering the country.

Additionally, there is no need to spend significant time waiting in airports or be dependent on other locations for travel.

Dubai visit visas: Five nationalities must carry Dh2,000 and a return ticket to enter emirate

At least 1,200 pakistani passengers were held at dubai international airport for failing to meet new requirements.

Tourists and jobseekers from five countries in South Asia must meet certain requirements to fly into the emirate, airlines and travel agencies said on Monday.

Pakistanis, Indians, Nepalis, Bangladeshis and Afghans arriving on visit visas must carry at least Dh2,000 ($545) and have a return ticket.

Proof of a hotel stay or the details of a relative's address are also required.

Pakistan International Airlines and several travel agencies shared official documents from Dubai's General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs immigration service that set out the requirements.

More than 1,200 Pakistanis and up to 200 Indians have been denied entry into Dubai since last Tuesday, after failing to meet these requirements.

"We've been receiving notifications from airlines and immigration authorities about this," Alan Orong, from Dubai's South Travel and Tourism, told The National .

“There are five nationalities who are involved in this – Pakistanis, Nepalis, Bangladeshis, Indians and Afghans.

"They need to a have valid round-trip ticket from their city of departure and sufficient funds. They need to be able to show they have Dh2,000 in hand.”

Mr Orong said Sharjah immigration officials sent the notifications.

Of the 1,225 Pakistani passengers, mostly blue-collar workers on visit visas, more than 1,000 have already been sent home, the General Consulate of Pakistan in Dubai said.

About 200 are waiting for repatriation at Dubai International Airport.

Ibrahim Elshamy, from Dubai travel agency Reds Travel and Tourism, said it had begun to notify its clients about the rules.

He said that for many years passengers were required to produce a return ticket and show they had enough money to live off.

“I think the rule is being enforced heavily now to prevent these workers from being scammed by people who say they will give them a job, if they come on a visit visa first,” said Mr Elshamy.

Pakistani passengers queue for free meals after being told they could not leave Dubai International Airport. Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai

"This rule has always been there in Egypt. At departure, immigration asks Egyptians to show at least $1,000 and other supporting documents."

Last week, embassy officials told The National  they were concerned that some residents, who were in the country illegally , had shunned a visa amnesty that ended on October 11.

The officials believe some stayed on in the hope of finding a job as the economy recovers.

Staying in the country on an expired residency visa would lead to a daily fine of Dh25, with a further daily Dh20 penalty for failing to renew an Emirates ID, costing a total of Dh315 per week.

There is a separate system for those on expired tourist or visit visas who are hit with Dh200 for the first day, and Dh100 a day after that.

Last week, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs confirmed that travellers from Pakistan were denied entry at Dubai International Airport “due to non-compliance with entry requirements for tourist visas”.

"GDRFA clarified that these travellers did not have a valid hotel reservation or a relative's reference, nor did they have a return ticket booking, as required by UAE immigration rules," it said.

"GDRFA also said that the vast majority of passengers that are compliant with the visa rules and arrive at Dubai International Airport face no delays upon entry."

List of documents required:

- Passport with six months' validity from the date of entry into UAE

- Valid visit / tourist visa

- Return airline ticket

- Negative PCR test result, as issued by a recognised lab

- Sufficient funds to stay in the UAE

- A hotel booking or proof of address of a sponsor or relative

Air India to conduct services in AIE's cancelled routes: Details

 alt=

Air India will conduct services in the cancelled routes of the carrier Air India Express, which is facing staff shortage due to the strike by its cabin crew for the past two days. Air India will offer its services in 20 routes to minimise disruptions.  Air India Express on Thursday cancelled 74 flights. "We will be operating 292 flights today. We have mobilised all resources and Air India will support us by operating on 20 of our routes. However, 74 of our flights stand cancelled and we urge our guests booked to fly with us to check if their flight is affected by the disruption before heading to the airport," the airline said in a statement. In case their flight is cancelled or delayed beyond three hours, the carrier said the passengers may opt for a full refund or reschedule to a later date without any fees.

The number of cancelled flights at 74 translates to around 20 per cent of the airline's scheduled daily flights. Earlier in the day, sources said the airline had issued termination notices to 25 cabin crew members who had reported sick and asked others to join back for duty by 4 pm on Thursday. Against this backdrop, Air India Express said it is taking appropriate steps against certain individuals. "While we will continue to engage with our cabin crew colleagues with a commitment to address any concern, we are taking appropriate steps against certain individuals as their actions have caused grave inconvenience to thousands of our guests," it added.  (With PTI inputs)

Saudi Arabia has broadened its electronic visa (e-visa) accessibility to include citizens from three new countries.

The citizens of these countries now have the flexibility to apply for their visas online or acquire them upon arrival at Saudi entry points. This expansion increases the total number of eligible countries to 66. The new countries are Barbados, the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, and Grenada.

In addition to citizens from the newly included countries, the tourist visa has been extended to residents of the US, the UK, and the EU, as well as visit visa holders from the US, UK, and the Schengen area.

Furthermore, residents of GCC countries are eligible for the visa, facilitating various travel purposes such as tourism, Umrah pilgrimage, visiting family and friends, and participating in a range of events, exhibitions, and conferences.

Saudi Arabia has also introduced transit visas for travellers on Saudia and flynas airlines, allowing a 96-hour stay in the Kingdom before continuing their journey.

The Ministry of Tourism introduced the visit visa in September 2019 as part of a broader initiative to showcase Saudi Arabia’s rich tourist offerings, engage visitors in cultural experiences and promote international interaction.
