Know Before You Go

• Pick up from the airport is only between 05:00 AM to 07:00 PM as it becomes unsafe for travel on the outskirts. Beyond these timings, you are advised to let Thrillophilia POC know before booking if you are arriving after 7 PM in Siliguri so that Thrillophilia can rearrange your Itinerary accordingly as you might have to stay in Siliguri itself.
• Govt. Approved Photo ID proof is mandatory for each individual guest at the time of booking (to acquire necessary permits), and also upon arrival. PAN card and Driving License will not be considered as a valid address proof.
• There is no governing authority (HRACC) to decide the star category of the hotels. Hence, the standards of the room will not be the same as TIER-I/II Cities.
• By default, we arrange a standard category room while booking unless you specify to receive a different (upgraded) category of rooms for your stay requirements.
• In case of triple sharing rooms, extra mattresses will be provided at the assigned property. Due to infrastructure limitations in the region the rooms in the North-East come with very basic and necessary amenities only.
• Senior citizens and travelers younger than 4 years are not recommended to go to Gurudongmar Lake because of low oxygen levels. Permits for the infant under 2 years of age are not granted by North Sikkim tourism. That means if you have an infant traveling with you, you’ll not be allowed to go to North Sikkim.
• As per North East guidelines, vehicles are available on point to point basis only (not on disposal), any deviation in the itinerary would cost an additional amount (unless any issue occurs such as bad weather, Political/social disturbances, roadblocks, VVIP movements & state transport rule prohibition). Before changing the itinerary, you are free to consult with us for the charges.
• The charges for Nathu La Pass are not included in the package as this is a restricted area and special permits are required to visit the same. Permits are granted only between Wednesday and Sunday and can be canceled anytime for security reasons or weather conditions. Very limited number of vehicles are granted permits for Nathu La therefore the same are subject to availability and are never guaranteed in advance. Thus, you are required to pay the same on spot, depending on the real time conditions. (Applicable even if Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir are included in the package).
• Nathu La Pass can be added at an extra cost of INR 4000/- to INR 9000/- per vehicle, depending on the season and availability.
• Mt. Katao, Kalapathar, Chopta Valley and Zero Point (in North Sikkim) can be added at an extra cost of INR 4000/- to INR 9000/- per vehicle per spot, depending on the season. Visiting these spots are subject to availability of permits that are mandatory (for both Indian and Foreign Nationals).
• Thrillophilia does not recommend Sumo/ Bolero for its travelers as these vehicles are not allowed in the main market areas of Sikkim. However, if you choose these vehicles then you’ll be dropped at/ picked up from the nearest possible location. You might have to walk or take a union cab (at your own expense) to reach the hotel/ the pickup point.Thrillophilia does not recommend Sumo/ Bolero for its travelers as these vehicles are not allowed in the main market areas of Sikkim. However, if you choose these vehicles then you’ll be dropped at/ picked up from the nearest possible location. You might have to walk or take a union cab (at your own expense) to reach the hotel/ the pickup point.
• During season time the vehicle may get delayed during pickup/ drop due to heavy traffic, bad weather, political/ social disturbances, roadblocks, VVIP movements & state transport rule prohibition. Customer discretion is advised.
• Due to power shortages in the state, the government does not allow travelers to use electric room heaters. Also, it is possible that hotels may usually not have room heaters installed. However, in some hotels room heaters may be available on a chargeable basis (subject to availability).
• As per state guidelines, travelers wearing a turban are not allowed in Lachen.
• Foreign Nationals are not allowed to visit Lachen, Baba Mandir & Nathula Pass as per state authority due to security reasons. Foreign Nationals in groups of 2 or above will be allowed to visit Lachung & Tsomgo Lake with an Indian Guide (Mandatory). However, Foreign Nationals traveling solo are not granted permits to visit any part of North Sikkim.
• Foreign National with Indian Spouse will be considered as a solo traveler unless the spouse also has an OCI Card.
• If your permit for North Sikkim is canceled/ not issued due to adverse weather conditions/ political dispute, etc., Thrillophilia will arrange alternate sightseeing for the travelers safety. In such cases, cost of alternative accommodation needs to be borne by the customer as the pre-booked hotels execute their cancellation policies & are non-refundable. The same policy applies when you book the hotels yourself as well.
• Heavy rainfalls are observed between June – September & real time itinerary changes are possible in case of road blocks due to landslides or any other natural calamity.
• Any change in the itinerary is subject to weather conditions, political manifestations, and government restrictions, etc. Thrillophilia & On Ground Operators reserve the right to rearrange the itinerary in such cases.
• Any sightseeing point which is not completed due to time constraints, traffic jams, natural calamity, travelers starting late, permits issued late or any other reason beyond Thrillophilia’s control are not liable for a refund or a discount.
• The entire tour passes through eco-friendly zones and littering is prohibited. Any traveller found guilty might have to face strict charges by the local law enforcing authorities.
• Any Health Guidelines issued by the State-Government are to be followed. Social distancing to be maintained. Frequent hand sanitization and use of masks is recommended.
• It is advised that the travelers do not consume alcohol or any other intoxicants during the tour as it may cause respiratory problems or dehydration at high altitudes which can lead to serious health conditions and can be fatal as there are limited medical facilities in remote locations.
• Air fare / Train fare /Bus fare are not included in the package and the cost mentioned above.
• The travelers will have to take care of their international airfare, visa fees, airport tax or any kind of insurance cover.
• GST is applicable to the package and not included in the above cost.
• Rescheduling Policy for Private (Standard & Deluxe Package) & Group Bookings: 1) If rescheduling is made 7 days after the Booking Date till 15 days prior to the Date of Travel then 30.0% of the total tour cost will be charged as rescheduling fees. | 2) If rescheduling is made 0 days to 15 days before the Date of Travel then 100.0% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees. | 3) If bookings are made 15 days before the Date of Travel no rescheduling & modifications will be made.
• Rescheduling Policy for Private (Super Deluxe) & Hotel Specific Bookings: No modification or Rescheduling will be catered. A standard cancellation policy will be applicable for such cases.
• Force Majeure: In cases of force majeure events (e.g., natural disasters, political unrest, or other unforeseeable circumstances), [Thrillophilia] reserves the right to reschedule Tours & treks or offer alternative itineraries to ensure the safety and well-being of clients and staff.
• Cancellation After Rescheduling: Clients who reschedule their tours or treks but later decide to cancel will be subject to our standard cancellation policy. Any rescheduling fees paid will be non-refundable.

The first day of the tour begins from Gangtok to Lachung. As this is a sharing tour package it will be discussed prior date about the pick point as per your convenience. The tour starts around 10 AM as Lachung is 116 km away, it will be approx 5 hours drive. The drive till Lachung will surely be a memorable one because the locations that you get to see on the way is breathtaking. You will see  the Teesta flowing by your side and can see many waterfalls and mountain springs. On reaching Lachung you can check into the hotel as it is an overnight stay you can go out and see the local life, enjoy the local cuisine and culture. Lachung is located at an altitude of 8,610 ft so of course the scenic beauty of this place won't fail your vision. It is covered in snow during winters and surrounded by snow capped mountains all year long.

The day two of the tour starts after an early breakfast and as planned today we will go to Yumthang Valley and then back to Gangtok. Yumthang valley is about 25 kms away from Lachung so it is about 2 hours drive. Yumthang is located at an altitude of 11,800 ft and is famous for flowers and hot springs. The valley is covered in different coloured Rhododendrons like red, pink, blue, purple etc between March to May. The valley is a picturesque place in the entire of Sikkim. It serves a major view of the snow-covered mountains surrounding the valley, a river flowing in one side and a long stretch of land covered by flowers, it surely is a piece of heaven. After the sightseeing we will safely head back to Gangtok and you will be dropped to your specific place.

Q: Is Sikkim safe for solo traveling? A: Yes, Sikkim is one of the safest places to visit for Solo travelers. However, traveling solo could cost a little high due to less bus connectivity and for some of the places, no sharing taxis are available. Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Siliguri/Bagdogra to Darjeeling via Mirik (104 Km / approx 3.30 hrs)

Welcome to ‘Darjeeling Lachung Yumthang Tour’ . On arrival at the Bagdogra airport or New Jalpaiguri railway station (own cost), you will be transferred to Darjeeling. Enroute you will visit Mirik Lake, an ideal place for boating where on arrival you will check into your hotel.

Day 02: Darjeeling sight seeing

Early morning (around 4.00 am), you will drive to Tiger Hill to enjoy the magnificent view of sunrise and the effect of sun light over the Eastern Himalayan peaks like Mt. Kanchendzonga (28,208 ft), Kabru, Pandim etc (subject to clear weather conditions). On return to your hotel visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop.

After breakfast there will be Darjeeling city tour including HMI & Darjeeling Zoo (Thursday closed), tea garden, Tenzing Rock Tibetan Self Help Refugee Centre (Sunday Closed), Rangeet Valley Passerger Ropeway etc.

Day 03: Darjeeling to Gangtok (120 km / 4 hrs.)

Today you will proceed on a picturesque drive to Gangtok. En route visit Peshok view point- the confluence of river Tista & Rangit. Check into your hotel in Gangtok. The rest of the afternoon is free.

Day 04: Excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir

Early in the morning (7.30 am) drive for an excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir. Enjoy yak ride around the lake (own cost). Lunch in hotel. Evening free for shopping in famous MG Road/ Lal Market in Gangtok.

Day 05: North Sikkim- Gangtok to Lachen (120 kms./6 hrs.) After breakfast drive from Gangtok to Lachen (9,000 ft.). Enroute visit Tashi View Point, Kabi Lungchok, Phodong, Namok, mangan, Singhik, Chungthang, Lachung Valley. Reach Lachung in the afternoon.

Day 06: North Sikkim- Excurtion to Yumthang Valley (24 kms./2 hrs.) After breakfast excurtion to Yumthang Valley (11,800 ft.). Rhododendrons, Orchids & varieties of flora & fauna are found during spring in the month of April & May. Yumthang is the summer grazing ground of the yaks. On the way back visit Sulpher Hot Spring, having medicinal values.

Day 07: North Sikkim- Lachung to Gangtok (125 km./ 5 hrs) After breakfast transfer from Lachung to Gangtok. Enroute magnificent views high mountains of North Sikkim & water falls. Drop at your respective hotel in Gangtok. Rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 01: gangtok to lachen (120 kms./5 hrs./ alt.- 8,500 ft.).

Welcome to Yumthang Gurudongmar Tour.  After breakfast start your journey from Gangtok to Lachen . On the way visit Singhik View point, Seven Sisters Water Falls, Naga Water Falls, Chungthang etc. Reach Lachen in the afternoon.

Day 02: Lachen to Gurudongmar Lake (70km/ 3 hrs) . Lachen to Lachung (50 km/ 2 hrs)

After breakfast proceed from Lachen for an excursion to Chopta Valley (14,600 ft.) & Gurudongmar Lake (17,800 ft.). Gurudongmar Lake offers magnificent view of Mount Siniolchu & Kanchandzonga. Back to hotel at Lachen for lunch. Transfer from Lachen to Lachung (Alt.8,600 ft.).

Day 03 : Lachung to Yumthang Valley excursion (26 km./ Alt.- 11,800 ft.)

Full day excursion to Yumthang Valley.  The valley is covered with snow during January to March & with rhododendrons during April & May. En-route visit Sulphur Hot Spring having medicinal values. Lunch at hotel in Lachung. After free at leisure.

Day 04: Lachung to Gangtok (125 km./ 5 hrs)

DAY 4 : Lachen – Gurudongmar Lake – Chopta Valley  Excursion – Lachung

Gurudongmar Lake A 3 hours drive will take you to a valley that is perched at an altitude of 11, 800 feet. The lake set here is considered to be holy by Sikhs, Buddhists and Hindus and is one of the highest lakes in the world. It is very close to the Tibet border and is encircled all around the year by snow-covered peaks. Cold desert This is where the Himalayan rain-shadow zone merges with Tibetan plateau. The mountains reach the altitude of about 20,000 to 25,000 feet and are painted with the beautiful tones of colours. After sightseeing in Lachen, continue your journey towards Lachung. It is a region that is fully covered with Rhododendron forest. Visit the Chopta Valley and Thangu Valley on your way. Chopta valley Known for its varying hues, it is a very picturesque destination that is s positioned at an altitude of 13200 feet. Several water sports are also enjoyed by the river every year by adventurous tourists. Thangu Valley Thangu is a small and cosy village that is decorated with vibrant alpine flowers. A lot of travellers flock every year for the spectacular hiking trails in the valley. It is an ideal place for nature lovers and photo enthusiasts. Proceed with the drive and reach Lachung. On arrival, check in at the hotel and visit the Lachung Monastery. The Lachung Monastery It is an ancient Nyingma Buddhist gompa which is set at an astonishing height of 9,600 feet. The monastery hosts a famous mask dance each year and if you are around, you must behold its mesmerising sights. Spend the overnight at the hotel in Lachung.

DAY 5 : Lachung – Yumthang Excursion  – Gangtok

Yumthang Valley that stands for ‘The Valley of Flowers’ is your destination for today. After head-starting your day with a toothsome breakfast meal, check out from the hotel and drive to reach 11,800 feet above sea level to this valley. You may visit the famous hot spring that is popular owing to its curative properties for skin diseases. Having basked in the valley’s beauty, leave for Gangtok. On your way, cover a few sightseeing spots. Singhik and Mangan These are two scenic towns you will cross on your way to Gangtok. If the weather is suitable and the sky is clear, you can enjoy the stunning views of Himalayan ranges. You may catch glimpses of the peaks of Kanchenjunga, Pandim, Simvo, Kabru, Jopuno and Mt. Siniolchu. Optional Tour to Zero Point / Additional Charges / Special Permit An optional tour to the Zero Point can be arranged for on request. Set at an altitude of 15,300 feet, it is the last outpost of civilization. The international border of China lies a few meters ahead and hence civilians are restricted to go any further. After sightseeing, continue your journey to Gangtok. On arrival, check in at the hotel and spend the overnight in the comfort of the cosy room.

DAY 6 : Gangtok – New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB) (130km / 4 Hours Drive Approximately)
