Visit a mountain farm with sheep and llamas, owned and operated by the Bonsaksens for more than 400 years. Learn about the trials and tribulations of mountain farming, and the extraordinary people who dared to live here.

The farm has been operated for close to 2000 years, and is one of the oldest mountain farms along the UNESCO World Heritage fjord, the Geirangerfjord. Nestled on top of a mountain cliff, this farm has one of the best views Norway has to offer.

Fjord Cruise Geirangerfjord by ferry Geiranger-Hellesylt

Enjoy a scenic fjord cruise by car ferry between Geiranger and Hellesylt. Experience the World Heritage listed Geirangerfjord with its majestic waterfalls.

The ferry cruise on the world's most famous fjord takes approx. one hour between Geiranger and Hellesylt. Alongside the sheer mountain cliffs and the many waterfalls, you can see evidence of people who have lived and worked here in the form of many abandoned farms and shoreline smallholdings that will no doubt leave a lasting impression. The local legends are many and the history is there for you to see. Some of the farms were inhabited and operative until the 1950s and 60s. The tour is guided in several languages and there are refreshments available on board. The ferry cruise is ideal for those interested in landscape photography, as we have a spacious deck area outside. One of the ferries, Veøy, has an elevator and is accessible for disabled persons.

Take the ferry from Geiranger to Hellesylt during winter time.

The ferry cruise from Hellesylt to Geiranger takes 1 hour and 15 minutes, and while cruising the fjord you can see beautiful waterfalls and small farms in the steep mountain sides.

In the winter the atmorphere will be totally different from summertime which has the green colours in the mountain farms. Less people travel in this time of the year, but absolutely worth the trip!

Join us on an adrenaline-filled RIB tour – the fastest boat ride you can get! With RIBs ( Rigid Inflatable Boats) you come much closer to the famous waterfalls of the Geirangerfjord than on all the other tours. Your driver and guide stops a couple of times to let the unique scenery work its magic and to provide interesting facts about the fjord and people who used to live at the fjord farms. With a bit of luck even porpoises show themselves in the water. But anyway do not forget to bring a camera on this adventure!

A safe and comfortable open RIB (rigid inflatable boat) is the most exciting way to experience the Geirangerfjord. You will be taken on an adventurous trip along the waters of the fjord. Enjoy in one of our rubber boats with comfortable seats the iconic waterfalls “The Seven Sisters”, “The Bridal Veil” and “The Suitor”. See as well the majestic fjord cliffs and abandoned fjord farms that lend this unspoiled region its particular and very beautiful charm. Our local guides have plenty of opportunities to tell interesting facts and stories about life at the Geirangerfjord today and in the past. With a bit of luck, you will see porpoises playing alongside the boat or a sea eagle flying past. 

Meet your guide outside the tourist information office in Geiranger 5 minutes before the scheduled departure time. He will take you to our base in a traditional fisherman’s cottage, where you pull on the weatherproof suit over your normal clothes. The walk from the cottage to the pier, where you get into the boat, is about 100 meters. Each boat accommodates up to 12 people. This makes for a highly personalized tour!
