25 of the Best Travel Magazines

While traveling is exciting, learning about new places and seeing beautiful photos of destinations from around the world is exciting too. There are a number of ways to find new places to visit or to be inspired by the stories and experiences from others, but travel magazines are among the best options.

Thankfully, there are some very good travel magazines that are perfect for feeding your hunger for travel-related content and inspiration. Here, we’ll showcase the best travel magazines you should be following. Some of them have moved to digital-only publications, but the majority of them are still available in a printed magazine if that’s what you prefer (if they’re currently digital-only, that will be specified below).

Some of these magazines cover travel in general, while others take a more niche-specific approach. Check out the descriptions to see which ones are likely to interest you.

Best Travel Magazines

Subscribe to any of these travel publications to read and learn about destinations and your favorite types of travel.

Afar, launched in 2009, is one of the leading travel magazines. Although it covers destinations from around the world, its focus is experiential travel. It was created to inspire and guide those who travel the world seeking to connect with its people and experience their cultures. It features beautiful photos and engaging stories that are sure to inspire wanderlust.

Travel + Leisure

Travel + Leisure has been in print since 1937, and under the Travel + Leisure name since 1971. It’s another travel industry leader that should be on every avid traveler’s reading list. The “World’s Best” awards issue is an annual highlight.

Condé Nast Traveler

Condé Nast Traveler is a luxury and lifestyle travel magazine that has won many awards. If you enjoy luxury travel, this is the magazine for you. Even if you don’t travel in luxury, you’ll appreciate the photos and travel stories, as well as details about particular destinations.

National Geographic

National Geographic provides you with everything you need to know about scenery, history, and traveling to all ends of the earth. National Geographic is most well known for its award-winning travel photojournalism.

Wanderlust Magazine

Wanderlust is an award-winning British travel magazine with a focus on unique and enriching travel experiences. You’ll find trip inspiration, ideas, tips, reviews, competitions, and celebrity interviews.

Cruise Travel

Edited for people who are interested in learning about or taking a cruise vacation. Content includes features on cruise ships, ports-of-call, cruise itineraries, cruise guidelines, cruise/tour combinations, sea/air packages, travel products, related shore facilities, and activities.

Cruising World

Cruise World is another magazine focused specifically on cruise travel. If you’re a frequent cruiser or looking to plan a cruise, this is an excellent option.

National Parks Magazine

If you enjoy nature and visiting national parks, then you won’t want to miss National Parks Magazine. As you would expect, you’ll find travel photos and plenty of information about the most epic parks in the United States.

Caribbean Living

Caribbean Living is a luxury lifestyle magazine that exclusively covers Caribbean islands. If you frequently travel to Caribbean destinations or have a home on one of the islands, this is an excellent choice for you. Each issue is packed with interesting and insightful stories, as well as beautiful pictures.

Food & Travel

Food & Travel magazine combines two of our favorite topics. Wherever you’re going, food is likely to be an important part of your trip. If you enjoy trying food from every destination you visit, you’ll appreciate the content that you’ll find in this magazine.

The indispensable magazine for today’s yachtsman, providing power and sailing enthusiasts authoritative evaluations of new boats, gear, and equipment. Coverage of cruising, traveling, and racing destinations.

Destination

Destination is another niche-specific publication that focuses specifically on Caribbean destinations. You’ll learn about places to stay, things to do, and towns that you might not have been aware of. They also cover style and culture as well as food and drink.

Global Traveler

Global Traveler is a travel magazine that provides information, inspiration, and stories related to locations all around the world. If you’re looking for a good overall travel magazine to provide ideas and keep you up-to-date, this is an excellent option.

Geographical

Founded in 1935, Geographic is one of the oldest British travel magazines. Geographical brings the rich diversity of the world’s culture, wildlife, and places into its readers’ living rooms. The magazine is informative, authoritative, and educational, covering a wide range of subject areas all illustrated with superb high-quality photography.

Outside Magazine

For 35 years OUTSIDE magazine has been the intelligent person’s guide to the always exhilarating world outside. Award-winning writers, great stories of adventure, tips on the latest gear, where & when to go for active travelers.

American Road

Explore America’s back roads with American Road magazine. Whether you travel in an RV, on a Harley, or in a minivan, you’ll find road trips, maps, diners, motels, and roadside attractions in every issue. This is an excellent resource for anyone planning a road trip.

RV Magazine

RV magazine covers travel from the perspective of those who travel in the comfort of an RV. You’ll find general travel information as well as some tips and details that are especially relevant for RV travel. You’ll also find trailer and mobile home reviews, articles about gear and products for RV travel, safety and maintenance tips, info about RV parks, and more.

Outdoor Photographer

Outdoor Photographer is a landscape and nature photography magazine, but it’s an excellent read for travelers who enjoy photography. You’ll find articles (and of course, amazing photos) featuring destinations around the world, including the iconic as well as the unknown. You’ll learn a lot about some of the best photography destinations you can put into your upcoming travel plans.

Online Travel Magazines

All of the publications listed above still produce a printed travel magazine. Of course, many publications have gone exclusively to digital versions because of the costs related to printing and shipping. In this section, we’ll cover online travel magazines that are excellent options (much more than just a blog) for reading on your tablet or computer.

Budget Travel

Budget Travel (now digital-only) helps savvy consumers get the most out of every day, every destination, and every dollar. This used to be a popular print-based magazine (and one of my personal favorites), but now the content is only available digitally. You’ll find details about locations all around the world, so it’s a great overall option.

If you enjoy beaches and island travel, this award-winning and spectacularly visual travel magazine is a highlight that you won’t want to miss. ISLANDS (now digital-only) focuses on places we all dream about: islands around the world.

Wander is a digital-only travel magazine with a unique focus on wellness. If you’re interested in wellness tourism, this is the best resource for you.

Pathfinders Travel

Pathfinders Travel (digital-only) is the leading leisure travel publication for the Black travel enthusiast. Its affluent, educated and sophisticated readers have a thirst for information on family, romantic, and weekend destinations.

Backpacker (digital-only) is the leading outdoor adventure magazine, dedicated to helping readers enjoy everything nature has to offer. Every issue is packed with hands-on information on how to buy the best gear, how to build strength and endurance, how to find great hikes close to home, and how to enjoy the outdoor experience.

National Park Trips

From the editors of Outside magazine, National Park Trips (digital-only) is an outstanding resource for information and inspiration related to America’s national park system. You’ll find travel guides, information for road trips, and of course, plenty of stunning photos from your favorite parks.

Cabin Life (digital-only) covers cabins, cottages, lake homes, and lodges. Get ideas, information, and inspiration for your vacation home with the award-winning Cabin Life magazine. If you have a getaway or dream of having one, Cabin Life magazine is for you.

38 Inspiring Travel Magazines Worthy of a Subscription

magazine tourism

Travel magazines are great resources for inspiration and information. Inciteful articles go beyond the things to do in a destination and explore why you should visit in the first place. Hotel reviews, travel gear roundups, exploration of new trends, and interviews with interesting people in the travel industry keep you entertained through dozens of glossy pages.

Some travel magazines cover the globe, offering a chance to see exotic destinations in far-off lands. Other magazines stick closer to home, covering only regions or states. And then, special interest magazines cover topics like travel gear, outdoor recreation, and unique places to visit.

But when was the last time you picked up a travel magazine?

Browse through this list of travel magazines worthy of a subscription. Read the details of the magazine’s coverage, digital vs. print editions, and their publication frequency. And keep in mind – these make excellent gifts as well.

What about city magazines?

City magazines can offer additional insight into a destination, but not always. The magazines also include local news, shopping guides for home décor, and seasonal things to do around town. I recommend checking out city magazines when you travel but don’t get a subscription unless you visit that destination several times yearly.

Table of Contents

Condé nast traveler, food & wine, national geographic, travel + leisure, blueridge country, caribbean living, coastal living, coastal virginia, cowboys & indians, midwest living, smoky mountain living, arizona highways, louisiana life, minnesota monthly, new hampshire magazine, new jersey monthly, new mexico magazine, oklahoma today magazine, rhode island monthly, texas highways, texas parks & wildlife, vermont magazine, adventure cyclist magazine, american road, backcountry, blue ridge motorcycling, garden & gun, lighthouse digest, national parks magazine, rv magazine.

magazine tourism

Travel Lifestyle Magazines

The premier category of travel magazines, these industry icons cover worldwide topics and destinations, keep you informed about current travel trends, and inspire you to dust off the passport.

magazine tourism

A relative newcomer to the travel magazine market, Afar began publishing six issues each year in 2009. The magazine publishes immersive stories that go deep into the culture and history of travel destinations around the world. Each issue also features columns about travel gear, food, and profiles of interesting people in the industry.

magazine tourism

Founded in New York City in 1909, Condé Nast is a vast media company with nearly a dozen magazine publications. Condé Nast Traveler is a luxury travel magazine published eight times yearly, featuring destination guides, hotel and resort reviews, and essays. Columns explore travel trends, the hottest new restaurants and hotels, and inside info on prices worldwide.

Facebook: Join the conversations about coffee, travel, and all things road trips

magazine tourism

First published in 1978, Food & Wine is a lifestyle magazine featuring articles about cooking and entertaining at home. But the magazine also features restaurant reviews, interviews with celebrity chefs, and new culinary trends to try worldwide. The magazine is published monthly with seasonal themes and travel inspiration in every issue.

magazine tourism

It was a gut punch when National Geographic Traveler was shuttered in 2019. Published for twenty-five years, the travel-themed magazine was rolled into the flagship National Geographic . The broad-topic parent magazine now features one or two travel features in their monthly issues and a vast trove of information with a digital subscription.

magazine tourism

Top Recommended

Published in New York City since 1937, Travel + Leisure is one of the top travel magazines in the world. The monthly publication features articles highlighting destinations worldwide, columns to help you save money while traveling, and reviews of hotels and restaurants. It’s one of the most inspiring magazines and the one subscription I recommend everyone order.

magazine tourism

Wanderlust is the United Kingdom’s top travel magazine, published in London since 1993. The magazine focuses on travel destinations throughout the UK and Europe with destination guides, essays, interviews, and reviews. The bi-monthly publication features a whopping 200+ pages that will almost certainly keep you reading until the next issue arrives. A subscription also grants access to their vast digital archives.

Regional Travel Magazines

Regional travel magazines broaden their topics beyond just travel to also include home décor and living. But these magazines are also an excellent resource for finding off-the-beaten-path destinations or learning about a new region of the country to explore.

magazine tourism

Based in Roanoke, Virginia, BlueRidge Country is a lifestyle and travel magazine focused on the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. The monthly issues feature a section on upcoming festivals and events that are perfect for weekend getaways. You’ll also find destination articles, hotel and restaurant reviews, and exciting things to do in the great outdoors in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

With a subscription to Caribbean Living , you’ll “travel beyond the beach” with an inside look at the culture of the Caribbean islands. Issues are only published four times each year, but the publications are packed with intriguing travel stories, unique places to visit, and tips on how to make the most of your tropical getaway.

magazine tourism

Life was turbulent for Coastal Living after Meredith purchased Time, Inc. in 2018. After a year stuck exclusively on newsstands, the magazine was again made available for subscriptions. The four issues published annually are packed with destination guides, travel tips, and reviews to make the most of your coastal getaway.

magazine tourism

Published six times yearly, Coastal Virginia covers the region around Virginia Beach and the Eastern Shore. The publication includes lists of local events and festivals, travel guides to popular coastal destinations, and interviews with the local business owners who keep the travel industry thriving in coastal Virginia.

magazine tourism

When Cowboys & Indians began publishing in 1992, its editors aimed to make it “the premier magazine of the West.” And with 16 issues each year, you’ll have plenty to read about the not-so-wild west. California Is Rebranding

Why the state’s tourism agency ditched its “Dream Big” slogan after more than a decade.

Soumya Karlamangla

By Soumya Karlamangla

A symphony performing in a bandshell at night, with a crowd of people seated to watch.

Perhaps you remember the commercials: images of the glittering blue Pacific, the majestic peaks of Yosemite, storybook vineyards and ancient redwoods stretching toward the sky.

For more than 10 years, tourism advertisements have painted California as a place for dreamers, a place for adventure and testing your limits by surfing, rock-climbing and skiing. The state tourism agency, Visit California, led the campaign, which invited people from around the world to “Dream Big” and travel to the Golden State.

Not anymore.

This spring, Visit California replaced “Dream Big” with a new campaign and a new brand for the state, as the “Ultimate Playground.” The scenes in the ads are much the same as before — with the addition of the Rady Shell, San Diego’s outdoor concert venue that opened in 2021 — but there’s no longer any mention of dreams.

Caroline Beteta, the chief executive of Visit California, told me there were a number of reasons for the switch, including that branding phrases like “Dream Big” tend to lose power over time and that the concept of dreaming had been popping up elsewhere, in corporate advertising.

Another major driver of the “Ultimate Playground” campaign was a more polarized political climate across the United States, which has created antipathy toward California in some parts of the country.

Beteta told me that the agency’s consumer research confirmed that Americans increasingly see the world through a political lens, and that framing California as a place to dream about was striking some viewers as a political statement. “Ultimate Playground” seemed to be a safer and less charged message.

The new campaign is meant to tap into pent-up demand for excitement and travel after pandemic restrictions. Visit California’s research found that 43 percent of consumers said vacations were the only time they could really let go and play.

California’s tourism sector was doing well even before the new campaign. Spending by tourists rose to a record-high $150.4 billion in 2023, Gov. Gavin Newsom said over the weekend — surpassing 2019 and suggesting that the pandemic slump has ended. The surge generated billions of dollars in tax revenue for the state and helped create 64,900 new jobs last year.

The rest of the news

California’s Department of Water Resources reported the first increase in groundwater supplies in four years, recharged by capturing more runoff from a very wet winter, The Associated Press reported.

The California Supreme Court will hear arguments on the legality of a ballot measure that would strip the Legislature and governor of the ability to increase taxes , The Los Angeles Times reports.

Southern California

Police officers in riot gear arrested dozens of protesters and began dismantling a pro-Palestinian encampment at the University of California, San Diego.

More demonstrators were arrested as classes resumed at U.C.L.A., with 43 people charged with conspiracy to attempt burglary.

Central California

The Los Angeles Times has a list of the best-smelling food spots that serve as guideposts throughout L.A. Here’s an excerpt from the essay by Julissa James:

“L.A. food leads with the nose. Mostly because the best of it is being cooked on the street — oftentimes we don’t even have to walk into a restaurant to be enthralled by it or convinced that it’s what we need in that moment. It meets us where we are. Some cities have their own distinct smells according to season — roses in the spring, hot trash in summer. We have Phillips Bar-B-Que and the birria truck that posts up right around the corner, all year round.”

People Magazine names Colorado town as bucket list travel spot

D ENVER ( KDVR ) — One mountain town was recognized in a national publication as a bucket list travel spot for its stunning flower fields.

On Friday, People Magazine released its 2024 Food and Travel Special . The magazine named 25 bucket list travel spots that offer unique experiences.

Colorado’s own Crested Butte was honored with a coveted spot. Specifically, People named the flower fields in the mountain town as a must for anyone’s bucket list.

Since 1986, the mining town has held the Wildflower Festival in the summer. The annual 10-day festival will be held from July 21-21 this year with over 200 workshops offering wildflower expertise.

“Today we continue to advocate for the preservation and appreciation of wildflowers and instill both awareness and admiration of our interdependence with our natural wildflower habitats through our events,” according to the festival website.

The festival’s website has tons of information on self-guided hikes visitors can take and a helpful wildflower identification guide.

So, if you want to check off an item on a national bucket list, be sure to visit Crested Butte this summer.

Revered Chicago candy shop makes People magazine's summer travel bucket list

Margie's candies, a legendary confectionary founded more than 100 years ago in bucktown, expanded in recent years to open a location in ravenswoood, published may 18, 2024 • updated on may 18, 2024 at 7:31 pm.

An esteemed spot generations of Chicagoans have relied on for their fix of sweets was cast into the national spotlight once again.

Margie's Candies, a legendary confectionary founded more than 100 years ago, was among 25 summer bucket list spots featured in People magazine's 2024 Food and Travel Special, which was released Friday.

A place where sweet lovers can get two of their guiltiest pleasures - candy and ice cream - Margie's has made its candy in-house all these years. The options are plentiful - from signature English Toffee to chocolate caramels, lollipops, truffles and more.

Those who visit the original location at the corner of Armitage and Western in Bucktown might feel like they've been transported to the past. The decor is reminiscent of the 1920s - from the brown leather-like booths to wood adorning the walls.

Margie's made People's list for a specific bucket list item - to "taste a scene-stealing sundae," though, of course, you can get whatever catches your eye.

The scene in question was from "The Bear," the acclaimed FX series focusing on a start-up family restaurant in Chicago with actor Jeremy Allen White.

"During season 2, Chef Sydney ( Ayo Edebiri ) stops by  Margie’s Candies , a century-old candy and ice cream parlor, for its classic ice-cream sundae while getting the scoop on the local food scene," the entry reads. " Viewers left  hungry for season 3  (premiering June 27) can scoot into a booth at the beloved spot or re-create a bit of the magic at home with this  sundae recipe. "

While Margie's may be popular for its ice cream creations and candy, those are just the signature items. Margie's also has italian ice, pies and even sandwiches. Its original location might be the most well known.

In more recent years, Margie's opened a location in Ravenswood, 1813 W. Montrose Ave.

Prince Harry Reveals Plans for the Future — and Why He and Meghan Markle 'Look Forward to Traveling More' (Exclusive)

The Duke of Sussex tells PEOPLE what drives him and Meghan to make a difference

magazine tourism

Prince Harry knows the importance of personal connection when it comes to his and wife Meghan Markle 's work.

Speaking to PEOPLE on the couple's three-day trip to Nigeria, the Duke of Sussex says, "It is hugely important for us to meet directly with people, supporting our causes and listening, in order to bring about solutions, support and positive change."

Looking to the future, Harry and Meghan are anticipating more travel opportunities to further their initiatives.

"There’s only so much one can do from home and over Zoom, so we look forward to traveling more because the work matters. Whether it's the Archewell Foundation, Invictus or any of our other causes, there will always be reasons to meet the people at the heart of our work," the duke says.

Harry and Meghan traveled to Nigeria to champion their Archewell Foundation's mental health initiatives for young people and to promote the Invictus Games, which Nigeria joined for the first time last year.

"I’m so happy with the growth of Invictus and to include Nigeria," the Duke of Sussex says. "You know what Africa means to me over the years. It is a very, very special place, and to be able to include Nigeria now [in Invictus], I’m very happy."

The Duke of Sussex also recalled his emotional visit to a military hospital in Kaduna, which PEOPLE joined, and the "very low morale" he felt among the approximately 50 men there.

Out of those 50, there were two guys who were smiley and happy. And they were the two who were in Germany [at the Düsseldorf Invictus Games] last year," Harry says, emphasizing the "transformative power" of sport.

"That experience of knowing what life post-injury is like gives people so much hope. And hope, hope, hope is a huge part of this," he says.

For Meghan, the trip also brought her closer to her roots. In 2022, the duchess discovered through a genealogy test that she is 43 percent Nigerian.

"It was incredibly memorable and special," Meghan says of their time in Nigeria. "That alone is the best souvenir to take with us — all the memories we’ve made.”

Calling back to the empowering message she shared with a group of young students on their first day in Nigeria, Meghan says, "I saw myself in them. I see the potential in all of these young girls — and, by the way, in these young boys as well," she adds,

The Duchess of Sussex then thought of her son Prince Archie , 5, and daughter Princess Lilibet , who turns 3 in June.

"It’s what we see in our own children — to give them that promise and excitement for their futures," Meghan tells PEOPLE.

Eichler new assistant professor of the practice in Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism

Brings more than 30 years of hospitality, hotel management experience     .

December 13, 2023 - by Paul Schattenberg

The Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism in the Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences continues to build itself into one of the country’s top programs by hiring Dan Eichler as an assistant professor of the practice.

Head and shoulder picture of Dan Eichler. He is wearing a gray jacket and light blue shirt. Eichler is joining the Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism.

Eichler brings more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, with almost 20 years in management or director-level positions. He also has more than 10 years of experience as a college instructor.

“As an assistant professor of the practice, Dan brings a rich and diverse professional background in the hospitality industry to benefit our students and bring the department the wisdom that only comes with practical experience,” said Brian King, Ph.D., head of the Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism. “He also brings extensive contacts in the hospitality industry, which will enhance our efforts to garner even more attention for our department and further reinforce its position as one of the top programs in the country.”

Professional experience in hotel management, hospitality

In joining the department, Eichler said he will draw from his extensive background in the industry and share that with the students.

“I believe that learning is greatly enhanced by relating real-life experiences to concepts and bringing them to life,” he said. “I like to use relevant topics and personal examples to emphasize the importance of the subjects being presented. I am passionate about the hospitality industry and desire to share that passion with students and help them succeed in an industry I love.”

Prior to joining the department, Eichler was director of sales and marketing for the Wyndham Garden Hotel in College Station, where he was responsible for opening, soliciting and negotiating contracts for the 135-room hotel.

Before that, he served as general manager of The Langford in College Station, where he was responsible for all aspects of a 114-unit senior living community in four key areas: resident satisfaction, engaged staff, favorable financial results and managing clinical care for those living in assisted living and memory care.

Eichler also has experience as corporate director of sales and marketing for Oldham Goodwin in College Station, where he oversaw a portfolio of 11 multibranded hotels with annual sales of over $29 million. Additionally, he was general manager for White Lodging-Courtyard Austin South and the Valencia Hotel Group-Hampton Inn and Suites Austin-Airport, both in Austin.

His further industry experience has been as an assistant general manager, sales manager and director, assistant front office manager and restaurant operations supervisor.

“My 30 years in the hospitality industry have afforded me numerous real-life experiences, as well as knowing about the experiences of others in the industry, that I can share with my students. Besides knowing best practices in the hospitality industry, I also have seen many worst-case scenarios, and often these negative experiences provide the best learning opportunities.”

College-level teaching experience, professional affiliations

Eichler has a master’s degree in hospitality management from the University of Houston and a bachelor’s in business administration with a focus on marketing from Baylor University.

He has 10 years of experience providing higher education instruction. Most recently, he has been an adjunct professor at Blinn College , where he taught Introduction to Hospitality and Convention and Group Management Services. He was previously an adjunct professor at Austin Community College, where he taught Purchasing and Front Office Procedures as well as Introduction to Hospitality and Hospitality Internship.

Additionally, while pursuing his master’s degree, Eichler was a teaching assistant who helped in the training and performance evaluation of 50 students in all aspects of fine dining service. Eichler is a board member and past-president of the Brazos Valley Hospitality Association. He also served on the board for the Texas Hotel and Lodging Association and Austin Hotel and Lodging Association.

These Insoles Saved My College Running Career (and I Still Wear Them Every Day)

Portrait of Brenley Goertzen

The Strategist happens to be full of runners, so this week, we hit the ground running (literally), testing tons of running gear and interviewing experts to give every kind of runner all the intel they might need. Welcome to  Running Week .

Running builds me up in a way nothing else can, but it’s also the one thing that has (literally) broken me. I’ve always known that injuries can come with the territory, but following the best track and field season of my life — I was running personal records and breaking TCU school records — I began to notice a sharp pain in my right heel. Every time my foot hit the ground, it felt like I was stepping on a nail. It turned out to be plantar fasciitis, a condition caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia, or the connective tissue along the bottom of your foot .

I tried to run through the nasty pain (big mistake) and manage my symptoms with physical therapy, but I was eventually forced to take five months off from running . During that time, I saw several foot specialists and tried many different forms of treatment, including acupuncture and shock-wave therapy. I also tested less-invasive (and more affordable) gadgets, including foot rollers , toe spreaders, and heel pads. These tools and treatments certainly helped manage my discomfort, but the secret to my full recovery — without flare-ups — was SuperFeet’s cushioned yet supportive insoles.

SuperFeet All-Purpose Support Medium Arch Insole

I heard about the All-Purpose Support insoles from a podiatrist who recommended them as the best place to start before turning to pricey custom orthotics. The insoles — which you can slip into running sneakers and regular shoes alike — work like this: The high-density foam construction offloads strain and pressure caused by walking and running . Meanwhile, the insole’s deep, cushy cup cradles your heel, locking your foot into alignment with your ankle, knee, and hips to alleviate pain.

At the beginning of my recovery, I was advised never to go barefoot, so I wore my SuperFeet insoles every day. To fit them properly, I simply removed the factory insoles in my sneakers and slightly trimmed the toe box of the SuperFeet to match that shape. It’s important to note that at first these felt pretty stiff in my Hokas, but that solid support is what reduces the overstretching of the plantar fascia. The break-in process took some time — I started with a few hours of wear every couple of days, and gradually worked my way up to all-day wear. Eventually, the agonizing throbbing in my heel began to fade to light achiness, and soon enough I was wearing my insoles while cross-training and graduated to running on an AlterG (or anti-gravity) treadmill, which reduces the impact of your body weight.

When I progressed to full-weight-bearing runs, I kept wearing my SuperFeet insoles in my running shoes. After an almost career-ending injury, I was able to continue competing as an NCAA Division I runner for two more years. To this day, I still rely on my SuperFeet. They’re good for up to 12 months or 500 miles, whichever comes first, so I often purchase a new set at the same time as when I was buying new running shoes. I’ve gone on to try a few of the brand’s other designs, such as their Run Support line , which is lightweight but offers the same firm stability. There are days when I experience phantom pain in my heel, but once I’m wearing my SuperFeet, I’m reminded of how these insoles practically saved my college running career and fought my fasciitis for good.
