Day 1: Hanoi, Arrival

Welcome to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam! Once you arrive, you'll meet your private tour guide and driver who will escort you to the hotel for check-in. You're free to while away the rest of the day: either stay at the hotel for a rest or venture out to see what the city has to offer.

Day 2: Hanoi

This morning you'll visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed on Monday and Friday, October and November). Later, tour Ho Chi Minh House on Stilt where the leader spent last days of his life, followed by a trip to see a couple of temples: One Pillar Pagoda, one of Hanoi's most prominent icons, Hoa Lo Prison and Temple of Literature.

In the afternoon, go to Hoan Kiem Lake and through the charming Old Quarter which is the oldest yet continuously developed area of Vietnam. After the trip, visit Ngoc Son Temple and enjoy an amusing water puppet show.

Day 3: Hanoi - Halong Bay

After 4-hour morning scenic drive from Hanoi, you'll board a cruise and start to explore the UNESCO protected Halong Bay. Soak up the splendid view of thousands of limestone islands dotting the waters; catch a glimpse of traditional sampans and junks sailing the glinting water; discover grottos, thick forests and hidden coves. If you still have excess energy after all of these and fancy a sense of adventure, why not join some optional activities like kayaking, swimming and diving?

Day 4: Halong Bay - Hanoi - Da Nang - Hoi An

Keep cruising the picturesque Halong Bay this morning. You'll have a hearty brunch and leave the cruiser at about 10 am when your guide and driver will greet you at the pier and take you to Hanoi for your flight to Da Nang. As soon as you land in Da Nang, you'll meet your guide and driver who will escort you to Hoi An (around 0.5 hour's drive) and assist with the check-in of your hotel. You'll spend the rest of the day on your own.

Day 5: Hoi An

Today, you'll see all the famous sites of the charming town of Hoi An. First, head for the beautiful little Japanese Bridge which was constructed by the Japanese community to connect the Chinese quarters, the Chinese Temple which is dedicated to Quan Cong, a revered Chinese general, and the 200-year-old Vietnamese former merchants house. Then make a trip to the home of a craftsman in the old street of Hoi An to learn about the daily life of the local people and watch them making lanterns. You might also get the chance to make your own paper lantern and take it home.

Day 6: Hoi An - Da Nang - Hue

Leave Hoi An for the imperial city of Hue today. En route, you'll get a splendid view of the coastline and Da Nang from the top of the mountainous Hai Van Pass. You'll also visit the beautiful Non Nuoc Beach noted for its unspoilt white sands, Cham Museum, a small yet charming museum housing the largest Cham artifacts, and the Marble Mountain, a cluster of five hills made from lime stones and marble.

After lunch in Da Nang city, you'll be escorted to Hue in the afternoon. Feel free to do what you'd like to do for the rest of the day.

After breakfast, your Hue sightseeing tour begins with a visit to the sublime Tomb of King Minh Mang, where you'll get an insight into the life of Minh Mang and history of Vietnam. You'll then take a royal dragon boat cruise on the Perfume River to explore the peaceful Thien Mu Pagoda, which is considered to be the symbol of Hue. Next, discover the cobbled paths of the grounds of the UNESCO-protected Imperial Citadel and see the ruins of the Forbidden Purple City, the residence of Nguyen dynasty. You'll end today's trip at Hue's largest market, Dong Ba Market where you can shop for almost everything you can think of.

Day 8: Hue - Ho Chi Minh City

After breakfast, start your private transfer to the airport and fly to Ho Chi Minh City. Your private guide and driver will greet you once you arrive. You'll then be transferred to the hotel where you can take a break for the rest of the day.

  • Ho Chi Minh City

Day 9: Ho Chi Minh City

This morning, you'll first explore the immense Cu Chi Tunnels which was built during Vietnam's fight. After that, head to the War Remnants, a museum containing exhibits of Vietnam War and the first Indochina War; Reunification Palace, the former Presidential Palace, the home and workplace of the President of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

The next sightseeing contains Ben Thanh Market, an iconic marketplace selling local handicrafts, textiles, souvenirs, etc; Old Saigon Post Office designed by the renowned architect Gustave Eiffel; and Dong Khoi Street, once the centre of glamour and home to many fascinating French colonial buildings.

Day 10: Ho Chi Minh - Mekong Delta - Ho Chi Minh

Today you'll go on a Mekong Delta tour with homemade meal. There's a lot to expect from this tour: a nice boat ride to see coconut plant, a leisurely stroll around the local villages, a visit to coconut processing workshop and a cooking lesson to learn how to make local delicacies, etc.

Day 11: Ho Chi Minh City - Siem Reap

Enjoy some free time before you're escorted to the airport and fly to Siem Reap. As soon as you reach Siem Reap, your private guide will meet you and drive you to the hotel for check-in. Take a rest in the hotel or venture out into the streets of the city for the rest hours of the day.

Day 12: Siem Reap

After breakfast, you'll take a drive to the "Great City", Angkor Thom, the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer empire. There, you can visit the mesmerizing Bayon Temple with the world-famous Khmer smiles on the carving. Next stop is the Elephant Terrace named for the carvings of elephants on its eastern face.

In the afternoon, experience the incredible World Heritage of Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world. Then discover the statues and carvings of the Bakheng Temple where you are rewarded with a spectacular view of the Angkor Wat.

Day 13: Siem Reap

Watching the sunrise at Angkor Wat is highly recommended, so get up early to catch it. You may even get to know the monks and nuns at a nearby pagoda through an interesting talk with them. Breakfast can be had either at the hotel later or taken away.

If you skip the Angkor Wat sunrise, you'll first pay a visit to some local villages before you explore the Banteay Srei Temple, which apparently demonstrates wealth, power, and the veneration for the gods in detail and intricacy.

Followed are two famous temples Ta Prohm Temple, where Tomb Raider was filmed; and Ta Keo Temple, built with huge sandstones and dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.

Day 14: Departure

Make the most of your free time in Siem Reap before your guide meets you and escorts you to the airport for the flight to your next destination.

It’s a great opportunity to try all those weird and wonderful foods you see but just aren’t sure what they are! Start your Hanoi Street “Eats Tour” at Bia Hoi corner to try the local brew, a draft beer that traces its roots to Eastern Europe.

Enjoy breakfast at hotel then start a guided city tour of Hanoi. Having celebrated its 1000- year anniversary in 2010, the city has a rich and fascinating history. Your city tour will take you to the main attractions of Hanoi, including Ho Chi Minh complex (Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum and stilt house); the Presidential Palace, the nearby One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature, West lake, Tran Quoc pagoda, Quan Thanh temple and of the city’s museum (History Museum or Ethnology Museum). Late afternoon, enjoy Water puppet show and cyclo visiting the Old Quarter of Hanoi.

At around 7.30 am, your driver will pick you up for the journey to Halong Bay and arrive at around midday to board a traditional junk for an overnight cruise. Halong Bay is widely considered to be one of the natural wonders of the world. Thousands of towering pillars of sea and wind-carved limestone karst make the bay an unforgettable sight. After lunch, explore some of the huge limestone caves dotted around the bay and visit a floating fishing village. Then the captain will find a secluded spot where you can swim, soak up the sun on the top deck, or try your hand at kayaking. In the evening enjoy a seafood feast for dinner.

Enjoy an early morning swim (during the summer), followed by breakfast as you cruise through more spectacular scenery. The cruise arrives at the harbor by noon. The driver will pick you up and then transfer directly to the airport for flight to Hue. Upon arrival in Hue, you will be transferred to your hotel. Check in and free time.

Being the ancient capital, Hue is surrounded with ancient tombs of the past emperors, and with Orient style – those tombs almost located near the bank of Hue’s river – Perfume river. In the morning, take boat trip along the scenic Perfume River for sightseeing and next stop will be the famous Thien Mu pagoda and Ming Mang Emperor’s mausoleum.

Afternoon, continue to visit the Citadel, containing the Imperial City, the Forbidden Purple City and the Emperor’s private residence. The Imperial City, created in the 19th century and modeled on the Forbidden City in Beijing. You also visit the vibrant Dong Ba market.

After breakfast, leave Hue for Hoi An, crossing Hai Van Pass where you will have magnificent view of the sea. Stop at Lang Co to have break. Visit the fascinating Marble Mountain en route to charming Hoi An. Check in hotel and free time.

You will have the opportunity to interact with the local sellers and learn about all the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later.

After that, board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely cruise (25 minutes) along the Hoi An River to the Red Bridge Cooking School. On arrival, you explore the cooking school’s herb and vegetable garden, before learning about some of Hoi An’s and Vietnam’s well-known dishes. The cooking lesson runs for about 2 hours – each dish is first demonstrated by the Red Bridge chef’s, before you prepare the same dish youself. Included in the class is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving (plate decoration). After the lesson, you can enjoy what you have cooked.

In the afternoon, enjoy a walking tour of the ancient town, including the 200 year-old Tan Ky house, Phuc Kien Pagoda, the Assembly Hall, the former merchants’ houses, the 400 year-old Japanese Covered Bridge. Free time for shopping and tailor made suits.

This architectural masterpiece was constructed in the 12th century and covers an area of about 210 hectares. You stroll around this massive edifice, seeing the many galleries with columns, libraries, pavilions, courtyards and ponds full of water reflecting the towering temple.

This morning you visit the smallest, but magnificent, Banteay Srei built in the 10th Century and dedicated to Shiva. The temple was the birthplace of Khmer classical style architecture and the bas-relief work is the best example of Khmer classical art remaining. The pink sandstone structure bears a series of striking and beautiful sculptures, lintels, pediments and friezes. Khmers say the temple must have been carved by women for the details are too fine for the hands of a man. Continue the trip with a visit to the Banteay Samre Temple adorned with impressive reliefs depicting scenes of Vishnu as well as Krishna legends.

In ther afternoon, you have chance to visit the ancient Khmer civilization site of Hariharalaya which flourished in the late 9th and early 10th centuries. These are the earliest temples in the Angkor area and are referred to the Rolous group (Lo Lei, Preah Koh, and Bakhong Temples). On the way back to Siem Reap, you will visit Kompong Phluk – a floating village on Tonle Sap lake, the “Great lake” of Cambodia. With traditional wooden boat, you pass by floating villages with friendly children in small boats and fishermen at work. The village moves with the water level and during wet season houses are anchored around an island pagoda.

You have free time in Siem Reap today. After check out hotel, you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival in Luang Prabang, pick up and transfer to your hotel. Check in and free time.

The temple structures are decorated in various ways with gilded stuccoes as well as doorways and the main sim has a marvelous ‘tree life’ mosaic pattern on an outer wall.

In the afternoon, board a cruise upstream on the Mekong river, which also gives us a beautiful view of the tranquil countryside as well as an interesting visit to the mysterious of Pak Ou Caves. It is famous for thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. Along the way, you stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make the distillation of local rice wine. It used to be more famous for the big jars it is stored in, which they’ve been making there for over 2000 years. On the way back, you have chance to enjoy sunset on Nam Khan river.

An optional early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting offerings of Alms (ubiquitous sticky rice) from the faithful residents. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the procession. You will visit the morning Phosi Market where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings.

Today set off your exploration with a visit to the Royal Palace also known as the National Museum to learn more about the long-lasting history and culture of the region. You also visit Wat Mai, a beautiful temple located nearby Royal Palace and built in the 18th century. It is the largest and most richly decorated of the temples in Luang Prabang.

Then, explore the Reunification Palace, the former presidential palace of South Vietnam and a symbol of the country's tumultuous past.

After a break for lunch at a local restaurant, the afternoon takes you to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, a popular destination for both Vietnamese and foreign tourists. The tunnels, which span over 200km, played a critical role during the Vietnam War and were functioning underground cities that included trap doors, living areas, storage facilities, weapon factories, field hospitals, command centers, and kitchens. You will learn about the construction of the tunnels and spend the next few hours exploring the tunnels and war remnants, gaining insights into the harsh conditions and ingenious methods used to maintain life in the tunnels. You'll even have a chance to sample some of the simple cuisine that local fighters survived on and venture into the tunnels to experience the complex firsthand.

After the tour, return to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City for a comfortable overnight stay. The distance between Saigon and Cu Chi Tunnel is approximately 75 km, which takes about 1.5 hours to drive.

Day 11: Mekong Delta/River Boat Trip. (B, L)

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, your tour guide will pick you up at 8:00 am to start your journey to My Tho, the capital city of Tien Giang Province. This picturesque city is located on the Mekong River, about 75 kilometers southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, and is known for its lush orchards and rice fields that produce grains for the entire country.

During your visit to My Tho, you'll have the chance to explore one or two of the islands known for producing traditional handcrafts, such as coconut candy and bee farms. You'll also visit the Vinh Trang Pagoda, which is the oldest pagoda in the Mekong Delta region. You'll take a boat trip along the Mekong River to reach the pagoda, which is surrounded by beautiful gardens and boasts intricate architecture and stunning sculptures.

After your tour of My Tho is complete, you'll return to Ho Chi Minh City, where you'll check in at your hotel and stay overnight.

Day 12: Conclude Saigon/ Depart for Siem Reap, Cambodia. (B)

After having breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight to Siem Reap. Upon your arrival at noon, you will be warmly welcomed by your tour guide and car driver at the airport. They will then transfer you to Siem Reap City for a visit to Angkor Complex. Your tour will begin with a visit to Angkor Thom, a fortified city that covers an area of 10 square km. Enclosed by a wall and wide moats, the city includes many of Angkor's most popular sights. You will enter through the monumental South Gate over a causeway lined on either side by statues of demons and gods, each carrying a giant naga. Your tour will continue to the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper Kings, former spaces for public ceremonies, both adorned with dramatic bas reliefs. You will then visit the ruined Baphuon, Royal Enclosure, and Phimeanakas before continuing to the mysterious Bayon Temple. In this temple, one of the most popular and compelling in Angkor, you will explore the galleries of beautifully preserved bas reliefs and ascend narrow stairs to reach the central sanctuary, where you will find giant stone faces smiling enigmatically down at you from every angle. After this, you will visit a temple for sunset and watch the sun set over the Cambodian countryside from the upper terraces of an ancient Angkorian temple. You will then return to your hotel for check-in and spend the night in Siem Reap.

Day 13: Angkor Complex sightseeing (B, L)

After breakfast at the hotel, we will begin our tour of the Angkor temples. Our first stop will be Angkor Wat, which is the crowning jewel of Khmer architecture and the national symbol of Cambodia. It is the largest, best-preserved, and most religiously significant of the Angkor temples, impressing visitors with its sheer scale and beautifully proportioned layout. As you approach the temple, you will cross a vast moat and continue along a broad causeway lined with naga balustrades. Upon entering the main building, you will ascend through a series of galleries and courtyards before reaching the central sanctuary, which offers beautiful views back over the causeway and across the surrounding countryside. Along the way, you can admire the intricate stone carvings that adorn nearly every surface, with some 1,700 Apsaras or celestial dancers sculpted into the walls. The outer gallery walls feature the longest continuous bas-relief in the world, narrating stories from Hindu mythology, including the famous Churning of the Ocean of Milk. Angkor Wat is stunning at any time of the day, but sunrise and sunset are especially beautiful times to watch the play of light on the stones.

Next, we will visit Ta Prohm, one of the most popular attractions of Angkor. Much of the jungle has not been cleared, giving the temple a mystical atmosphere, and it looks very much as most of the Angkor monuments would have appeared when European explorers first stumbled across them.

We will then continue our temple tour to Banteay Srei Temple. Seemingly miniature in comparison to the other Angkor temples, Banteay Srei is considered the jewel of classical Khmer art. Built in pink sandstone, its walls are covered in exquisitely preserved carvings of unusual delicacy. Because of its small size, fairy-like atmosphere, and extraordinary examples of Khmer sculpture, this temple is often a favorite with visitors.

Afterward, we will visit Takeo, Thommanon, Chau Say Tevoda, and Ta Prohm, one of the area's most beautiful temples. Ta Prohm has been left relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery. Its appeal lies in the fact that, unlike the other monuments of Angkor, it was abandoned and swallowed by the jungle, looking very much the way most of the Angkor temples appeared when European explorers first stumbled upon them.

After the temple tour, we will transfer back to the hotel for check-in. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 14: Departure from Siem Reap, Cambodia (B)

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, it is time to bid farewell to the charming city of Siem Reap. You are free to spend your remaining time at leisure, perhaps exploring the city one last time or souvenir shopping.

When it's time for your departure flight, your private driver will pick you up from the hotel and transfer you to the airport. Please note that airport transfer is included in your tour package.

We recommend that you arrive at the airport at least 3 hours prior to your scheduled flight departure, to allow sufficient time for check-in and security procedures.

Thank you for choosing Legend Travel Group for your trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia. We hope that you had a wonderful experience exploring the city's rich history and culture, and that our services exceeded your expectations. We look forward to welcoming you again on your next adventure!
