I am looking at a cruise on the Disney Dream and if I choose the option where they pick my room for me I can get a verandah for only $150 more than an oceanview(which is what I would normally pick). I've always picked my own room on any cruise line before, but I don't understand what the "restrictions" part means. For my family on this cruise it would cost about $6000 for a verandah room if I chose the room, but if I let them choose with the "restrictions" it is only $4600. I am mostly wondering why it is so much cheaper to do it this way. It seems like I am missing or misinterpreting something.

The definitions of various guarantee statuses are pinned to the top of the threads. Basically, you are giving up your right to pick your room and having to pay in full with no ability to cancel in exchange for the discount.

Geomom

  • This category guarantees you a stateroom within the stateroom type selected (Inside Stateroom, Oceanview Stateroom, Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah). Disney Cruise Line will assign the stateroom at a later time, based on availability for all guaranteed staterooms of this type.
  • Full payment is required at the time of booking for all Guests and is non-refundable.
  • Sail date and stateroom category changes are not permitted.
  • Full legal names of all Guests are required at time of booking and no name changes are allowed.
  • The stateroom offer cannot be combined with any other discounted or promotional offer.
  • This category and pricing can be applied to new bookings only. If you have an existing reservation and want to change to a restricted-fare category stateroom, you’ll need to cancel the existing reservation and make a new reservation. Any cancellation fees regarding the original reservation will apply.

How far out is the cruise? If farther than September ish it’s prob not GT rates it’s GTY which isn’t the hard restrictions listed above. GTY means you’ll get the category listed or above on any deck/location. We’ve done GTY for 2 cruises and gotten fantastic rooms (both 7a verandah and ended up in category 4) to where I’ll stalk out GTY and switch when it’s available. Switched my sept reservation from 8a to GTY 5a about 2 months ago for $120 total for a year 4 nights

It’s not a bad way to save some money. I’ve done two VGT cruises and both turned out to be great staterooms. I ended up on deck 10 for one cruise and deck 7 for the Fantasy where I was given a deluxe family stateroom and that extra square footage may not seem like a lot, but it makes a big difference. Even better that I saved around a grand by going GTY. Just be prepared that Disney may not assign your room up until the day of the cruise which can be frustrating. The other cons: no OBC, the guaranteed rooms can not be combined with any other offers or discounts (including placeholders), and you are unable to cancel.

Anyone know when they put the VGT with Restrictions out? In other words what does DCL consider last minute. We just decided this week to book a 1/24/20 cruise and today is 75 days out, but no VGT with restrictions are available. I was hoping to snag one since we don't care what deck we are on as long as we have a verandah.

Thank you for this through explanation. Fare is lower But risk is higher if you have to cancel and have no refund option. These days so much can happen.

Europe airfare has it's big teeth out now! Whew! What a shock. Lots to think about. But, we all need a splurge vacation now and again. We appreciate the vacation so much more Thanks so much again!

A Model of a Modern Major General

Yeah, I was tempted at a transatlantic 11-night from Southampton to NY at only $5400 for a Verandah stateroom (not VGT) for 4 people. But then I looked at flight cost to England, and from NY back home, almost the same cost again.

Stateroom Categories: Explained

It’s just as simple as booking a stateroom, right? As you start to shop for your next cruise, options abound and seriously confuse. Let’s make some sense of ‘all that is stateroom’ on Disney Cruise Line.

There are four general stateroom categories : Concierge, Oceanview with Verandah, Oceanview and Inside . Within each category and within each ship, there are different options to choose from.

Inside (Categories: 10, 11)

  • Located on the Interior of the ship
  • No exterior views *Dream/Fantasy “Magic Portholes”
  • 169-204 sqft

Oceanview (Categories: 8, 9)

  • One large or two small portholes
  • Exterior/ocean views
  • 204-241 sqft

Verandah (Categories: 4, 5, 6, 7)

  • Private balconies
  • Floor to ceiling windows
  • 246-299 sqft

Concierge (Categories: V, T, S, R)

  • Suites with balconies
  • Some with separate living/sleeping areas
  • 306-1781 sq ft
  • Concierge services

There are now  six stateroom types : Standard, Deluxe, Deluxe Family, Deluxe Family Concierge, 1- or 2- Bedroom Suites, Royal Suite. Your family size and space preferences typically play a major role in selecting stateroom type. Listed below are the stateroom type differentiators:

Standard (Inside Category: 11)

  • Traditional bathroom

Deluxe (Inside Category: 10, Oceanview Category: 9, Verandah Category: 5, 6, 7)

Deluxe Family (Oceanview Category: 8, Verandah Category: 4)

  • Sleep up to 5

Deluxe Family Concierge (Concierge Category: V)

  • Concierge service

1- or 2- Bedroom Suites (Concierge Categories: S, T)

  • Split living/sleeping
  • Large balconies

Royal Suite (Concierge Category: R)

  • Each ship has 2
  • Luxurious, spacious
  • Large balcony with private whirlpool tub (Dream and Fantasy)

What’s the difference between a Category 4A and 4E? The letters A, B, C, D, and E generally distinguish where on the ship the staterooms are located, with the letter A being the most desired location, for example, midship on a higher deck.

Navigator Verandah’s Category 7A

The Magic and Wonder category 7A staterooms only sleep 3

The Fantasy and Dream category 7A’s sleep 3-4

But what about this Category 8A on the Dream & Fantasy? There are 12 of these rooms on each ship. These are different as they are larger than the average Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom, have a split room set-up BUT no split bath .

guaranteed verandah stateroom disney cruise

Just to keep things interesting, there are a small number of very specific stateroom categories boasting distinct features:

Obstructed/Limited Ocean Views: These rooms have portholes with – you guessed it – partially obstructed views. These rooms are less expensive than their unobstructed-viewed counterparts. Found: Oceanview Category 9C and 9D on the Disney Dream/Fantasy

Oversized Verandah Rooms: Extra balcony space and people rave about these staterooms in our Facebook group discussions. Found: Verandah Category 4E and 5E on the Disney Dream/Fantasy

Navigator’s Verandah: Enclosed verandah with open air porthole. Found: Verandah Category 7A

Whitewall Verandah: The verandah has a solid white wall from deck to railing instead of the standard clear view throughout. Found: Verandah Category 5E, 6A, 6B

Booking with Restrictions? We Got You

IGT = Inside Stateroom with Restrictions OGT = Outside Stateroom with restrictions VGT = Guaranteed Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

When booking these restricted-fare category staterooms, please note the following:

  • New bookings only. Existing reservations cannot be modified to these new categories.
  • You are reserving a stateroom within the selected stateroom type: Inside, Oceanview or Verandah*.
  • Disney Cruise Line will assign your specific stateroom at a later time, based on remaining availability.
  • Specific stateroom requests will not be accommodated.
  • Full payment is required at the time of booking for all Guests and is non-refundable.
  • Sail date and stateroom category changes are not permitted.
  • The stateroom offer cannot be combined with any other discounted or promotional offer.
  • Full legal names of all Guests are required at time of booking and no name changes are allowed.

* Most Verandah staterooms include a private verandah with a clear plexiglass wall; some may include a solid white wall depending upon location. A limited number of Oceanview and Verandah staterooms may include a partially obstructed view.

Selecting “Choose Guaranty” guarantees the ship, sailing date and rate. A Category XXX stateroom will be assigned by the time documents are received. Selecting “Choose Guaranty” does not guarantee the stateroom will be on a particular deck or, for multiple staterooms, that the staterooms will be located near each other.

GTY reservations have no restrictions as it is a normal booking. Same rules apply as they do to any booking that has an assigned stateroom.

**Also note that you can be assigned an accessible stateroom without a split bath.

Difference between Guaranteed Verandah rooms

By bamdoo , August 27, 2022 in Disney Cruise Line

Cool Cruiser

We are looking to book our first Disney Cruise (Dream 11/17/2022).  When looking to book there are these two options for Guaranteed Verandah Rooms:

Guaranteed Verandah Stateroom with Restrictions

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah-Guaranteed

There is only a $17 difference between the two.  Is there a benefit of one over the other?

Thanks for you help :)

Great Review

travelingtink

Both will guarantee a minimum verandah room on the ship (slight chance of a possible upgrade). Your cabin will be assigned about 2 weeks or so before sailing. The Restricted option is non refundable and no changes can be made (cannot change passengers, cannot change rooms if you don’t like what you get, can’t cancel). The Guaranteed option is a bit more flexible an usually higher in cost. With just a $17 difference, I’d go with Guaranteed over Restricted.

Disney Cruise Discounts: IGT/OGT/VGT?

guaranteed verandah stateroom disney cruise

If you’ve spent even a moderate amount of time researching Disney Cruise Line , then you’ve probably come across stateroom categories like IGT, OGT and VGT. These represent various categories of guaranteed staterooms. IGT stands for Inside Guarantee, OGT for Oceanview Guarantee and VGT for Verandah Guarantee.

What is IGT/OGT/VGT?

A guarantee status basically means that you’ll be guaranteed a stateroom in that category (Inside, Oceanview of Verandah), but you WILL NOT be assigned a specific stateroom number at the time of booking. Your stateroom number will be assigned closer to your sail date. On occasion, a guarantee stateroom may be upgraded. This doesn’t happen all the time, but it’s not unheard of. So, why would you want one of these staterooms? Namely, they’re less expensive. These are usually released after final payment for the cruise has passed. However, there are important restrictions you should know. First, the cruise needs to be paid in full at the time of booking. Since these categories are only released AFTER the final payment date for a particular cruise, it must be paid in full. Also, you can not cancel or make changes to a guarantee status stateroom. This is important – there can be NO CHANGES OF ANY KIND TO A GTY STATEROOM. These staterooms are not available on every sailing. If a ship has not sold out by the time final payment is due, this is one way Disney will attempt to fill rooms.

It’s VERY important to note, that while there is usually a savings on these staterooms, it’s not more than what you’d save by booking early.

How much will I save?

That’s a good question and varies from sailing to sailing. On average, you can expect to save as much as 20% but that is not a hard and fast rule.

Are these the same as GTY staterooms?

No, GTY status staterooms are different. They are the same as any regular booking (all the same deposit/change and cancellation rules apply). The only difference is you’re not assigned a stateroom at the time of booking. GTY status is not offered at a discount, and can be booked before final payment is due. It’s the exact same reservation as if you were getting assigned a stateroom.

What stateroom categories are available for IGT/OGT/VGT?

Categories for staterooms on the Wonder / Magic : Inside (IGT): 10A, 10B, 10C, 11A, 11B, 11C Oceanview (OGT): 9A, 9B, 9C, 9D Verandah (VGT): 4A, 4B, 4E, 5A, 5B, 5C, 6A, 7A

Categories for staterooms on the Dream / Fantasy : Inside (IGT): 10A, 11A, 11B, 11C Oceanview (OGT): 8A, 8B, 8C, 8D, 9A, 9B, 9C, 9D Verandah (VGT): 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D, 4E, 5A, 5B, 5C, 5D, 5E, 6A, 6B, 7A

Why you should book a verandah on a disney cruise.

Posted by: Victoria Mills June 13, 2022

guaranteed verandah stateroom disney cruise

The excitement experienced when booking a Disney Cruise is real! That’s the case for any Guest making a reservation with Disney Cruise Line; whether you’re a first-time Disney cruiser, or a Platinum Castaway Club member who’s sailed on more than 25 Disney Cruises, and anywhere in between.

Disney Cruise Line staterooms often have a pretty hefty price tag though, making them a more expensive Cruise Liner to sail with, compared to others. There is often a noticeable price difference to securing an guaranteed oceanview stateroom compared to inside staterooms. Differently though, the price difference between an oceanview stateroom and an oceanview stateroom with verandah may not be as much as you think.

When choosing between staterooms, and wondering whether to bite the bullet and book that verandah, you may need a little advice and guidance. We’re here to do just that! Let us share with you, the reasons why you need to pay a little extra and book that verandah for your next Disney Cruise.

Types of Verandah

Every Disney Cruise Ship offers staterooms with a verandah. Price can vary based on the size, type and location of a verandah stateroom. In terms of verandah category, there are two types available with Disney Cruise Line :

  • Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah – on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, this stateroom offers Guests 304 square feet, with room to sleep 5 Guests, and is located on Deck 8. Aboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, this stateroom offers Guests 299 square feet, with room to sleep between 3 and 5 Guests, depending on the classification of stateroom. You will find this type of stateroom on Decks 5 through 10 on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. On the Disney Wish , this stateroom offers Guests 284 square feet, with room to sleep up to 5 Guests, and located on Decks 6 through 10.
  • Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah – on the Disney Magic and Disney Wish this stateroom offers Guests 268 square feet, with room to sleep 4 Guests, and is located on Decks 5-8. Some rooms offer an enclosed verandah, with a porthole-shaped view. Aboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, this stateroom offers Guests 246 square feet, with room to sleep up to 4 Guests. You will find this type of stateroom on Decks 5 through 10 on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Some rooms offer an enclosed verandah, with a porthole-shaped view. On the Disney Wish , this stateroom offers Guests 243 square feet, with room to sleep up to 4 Guests, and located on Decks 6 through 10.

navigators-verandah-disney-cruise

Every private verandah includes: patio furniture; deck lighting; Plexiglas or solid whitewall railings; and child-proof locks to the door. If you are traveling with a bigger party and choose to stay in adjoining rooms, you will likely find that the partition between verandahs can be opened to create a bigger balcony space to enjoy during your Disney Cruise. Check the stateroom category that will work best for your party when booking your Disney Cruise Line stateroom.

disney-cruise-verandah

Those staterooms offering an enclosed verandah, also known as a Navigators Verandah, include a unique experience. Whilst the verandah isn’t as open as those with private verandahs, they still offer a great view, as well as providing a unique photo opportunity. Seating in these verandahs comes in the form of a bench on either side of the verandah, facing one another. The partition walls are decorated with world maps, and there are navigation-inspired details to the railing below the porthole view. Adventurers   in your party, young and old, will certainly appreciate the details in this verandah.

navigators-verandah-details

If you are looking to book a concierge room, then you will be guaranteed a verandah regardless of which concierge room you reserve. The cheapest concierge room is a Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. If you’re wanting to splurge, and secure a verandah that includes a whirlpool bath, then you’ll want to look at a Concierge Royal Suite, available on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

Private access to ocean air

One of the highlights of cruising is that you get to feel and breathe in fresh, sea air every single day. The sounds of the ocean very much soothe all of your troubles away. Imagine having your own private access to this every day of your cruise with Disney Cruise Line. You won’t need to change out of your PJs in the morning when you’ve just woken up; instead just take a few steps and walk straight onto your balcony. Likewise, feel a fresh breeze on your face before tucking yourself into bed for the evening. Look for stars in the sky and distant ships in the darkness.

A verandah is also a great thing to have access to after a day exploring a port, such as Disney Castaway Cay . You may be in need of a little shade from the sun, but still want to hear the sea waves against the ship, and feel the ocean breeze on your face. Your verandah is also a great place to enjoy the views when leaving port.

Perfect spot to retreat to

There are so many activities to enjoy on a Disney Cruise, that you won’t find yourself bored. However, you may find that you’re in need to a little time away from all of the fun and other Guests at times. A verandah provides the perfect place to enjoy a little calm.

disney-cruise-verandah

We love to grab some fruit from Flo’s Cafe when on board the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, and a hot beverage, before taking an hour to ourselves in the afternoon, on our verandah. If cruising on the Disney Magic, we stop by the Duck-In Diner on the way back to our stateroom, and for the Disney Wonder, Daisy’s De-Lites. Lose yourself in a book, whilst listening to the waves below, as you enjoy your afternoon snacks.

flos-cafe-fruit-disney-cruise-line

If you’re in need of a sweet, and not-so-healthy, sweet treat, Cove Cafe is our go-to for an afternoon snack to enjoy from our verandah.

Room service with a view

Room service is included in the cost of your Disney Cruise, and we definitely recommend taking advantage of it at some point whilst cruising. Just make sure you have some dollars available to tip the Cast Member who delivers it to you, or make a note of their name to include in your tips at the end of your Disney Cruise.

A verandah offers the perfect place to enjoy your room service order. Take a slower morning during your Cruise, particularly if you are taking a longer cruise that provide the benefit of Sea Days, and order breakfast in your room.

We also love to enjoy a Mickey Premium Bar from our verandah during the afternoon. You won’t find a Mickey Bar on the room-service menu, but you can order them straight to your room.

mickey-premium-ice-cream-bar

Sunrise and sunset views

You haven’t cruised unless you’ve seen a sunrise and sunset at sea! And what better place to experience these, than from your very own stateroom. Of course, the direction in which you are sailing may not always be in your favor, but we’re sure that at some point during your cruise with Disney Cruise Line, you’ll get to experience these special times of day.

disney-cruise-line-sunset

Be sure to check your stateroom TV or the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App for sunrise and sunset times on each day of your Disney Cruise.

Private photo spot

Securing a verandah when booking a cruise with Disney Cruise Line means that you’ll have the perfect spot to take photos of your favorite outfits that you wear when cruising. Nothing will beat that oceanview behind you, and if you time it right, you’ll secure that photo during golden hour too!

disney-cruise-photo-spot

A stateroom with a verandah will only enhance your Disney experience with Disney Cruise Line. Go on, you deserve to treat yourself! Get that oceanview verandah stateroom booked now!

Disney Cruise Ship Staterooms To Avoid

Sharing is caring!

When you book a Disney cruise your choice of a stateroom is one of the most important decisions that you need to make.

There are so many things to do on a Disney cruise that you may not plan to spend much time in your stateroom.

Disney Cruise Staterooms To Avoid

However, what you must be sure of is that you are making the right choice. Not all cruise ship staterooms are created equal. Even on Disney ships there are some which are not as great as the others.

When you first start thinking about which stateroom to pick on a Disney Cruise you will have to make a choice between these categories:

  • Inside Stateroom
  • Outside Stateroom
  • Verandah Stateroom
  • Concierge Stateroom

An Inside Stateroom has no view of the outdoors.

An Outside Stateroom has either one or two portholes.

A Verandah Stateroom has a balcony.

The final category of stateroom on a Disney Cruise is a Concierge Stateroom. These are all either Verandah Staterooms, one or two-bedroom suites.

The largest and most expensive Suites on a Disney Cruise Ship are the Walt Disney Suite and the Roy Disney Suite.

The new Disney wish will also have new Concierge Suites including the Tower Suite which is located inside the iconic ship funnel.

All of the Disney Cruise staterooms have a category allocated to them. You will see this when you go to the Disney Cruise Website.

You will also see a letter, such as Category 5A, 11B, or 6A.

Wondering what the A, B and C mean in the categories?

These mostly relate to the location on board the ship, but can also show different features, for example, a white wall verandah instead of a clear plexiglass verandah.

Here is a guide to the different types of Disney Cruise stateroom to help you understand the different ones available.

We have to split this up into two different types of ships.

The Disney Wonder and the Magic have identical staterooms and the Disney Fantasy and the Dream have identical staterooms.

We will start with the Classic Ships the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic.

Disney Wonder and Disney Magic Stateroom Types

disney cruise and disneyland sweepstakes

Interior Stateroom Category 11A, 11B and 11C

There are 160 of these Disney Cruise Staterooms available on the Magic and Wonder. If you pick an Inside stateroom these range from the Standard at 184 square feet up to 214 square feet for the Deluxe Inside Stateroom.

All the Category 11 Staterooms on the Magic and Wonder are the Standard Inside Staterooms.

So that you can get an idea of exactly what a Standard Inside Stateroom is like on the Disney Wonder I have made this video

As you can see, a Disney Standard Inside Stateroom makes great use of the available space. There is a comfortable, queen-sized bed and a sofa bed.

There is no split bathroom on the Standard Inside stateroom – the only cabin which doesn’t have this feature.

The Disney Cruise Standard Inside Stateroom is a great choice if you are looking for the lowest price and do not think that you will spend much time in your cabin.

All of the inside and outside staterooms sleep either 3 or 4 people maximum.

There is a Queen bed and a sofa bed in all staterooms. Some also have a pull-down bed above the sofa so they can sleep 4.

disneywondersplitbathroom

These are the only staterooms which do not have the split bathroom. We have stayed in this category and found it fine as a great choice when you are on a budget.

Everything is well designed, but it is compact.

If you think you are going to spend a lot of time in your stateroom this honestly is probably not a great choice.

However, if this is the only one that fits into your budget then our opinion is to go ahead and book.

You still get to enjoy everything everyone else does on the ship – you just don’t pay as much!

Deluxe Interior Stateroom Category 10A, 10B, and 10C on Disney Wonder and Magic

disneycruiselinetippingguide

These are larger inside staterooms at 214 square feet. They do have the split bathroom so the toilet is separate from the bath and shower room.

There are 96 Deluxe Inside Staterooms available.

Oceanview Staterooms on Disney Magic and Disney Wonder Category 9A, 9B, 9C and 9D

These are the same square footage at 214 as the Deluxe Interior Staterooms. The difference is they have a window or porthole.

Navigator Verandah Staterooms on Disney Wonder and Disney Magic Category 7A

These are very popular staterooms and are usually the first to be completely booked. This is a design unique to the Disney cruise line as it is a mix of Outside and Verandah staterooms.

The stateroom is 214 square feet and the same design as the Oceanview cabin. The difference is an enclosed balcony of 54 square feet.

There is a separate sitting area that looks a lot like a balcony but it not open to the outside.

The Navigator Verandah Staterooms sleep up to 3 guests. They are not available on the Disney Fantasy or Disney Dream.

Deluxe Verandah Staterooms on Disney Wonder and Magic Category 5A,5B,5C and 6A

disneycruisealaskastateroom

These are the same design as the Oceanview and are 214 square feet, with the addition of a verandah of 54 square feet.

These sleep up to 4 guests. This is the ideal choice for many Disney cruise guests as it offers a balcony.

Deluxe Family Stateroom With Verandah

These are a cruise industry rarity – a stateroom that sleeps 5. For most cruise lines you have to book a suite to have room for 5 but on Disney, these Verandah staterooms are great for larger families.

These Disney cruise staterooms are 250 square feet with a verandah of 54 square feet.

There is a Queen bed, sleeper sofa, and drop down above, with an additional drop-down bed which goes in front of the verandah door.

We have stayed in these staterooms multiple times and they offer great space for families of up to 5.

All of the Deluxe Family Staterooms with Verandah is on Deck 8 of the Disney Magic and Wonder and there are 80 available.

Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy Stateroom Categories

disneycruiseexcursions

The staterooms on the Disney Fantasy and Dream are of the same basic design as on the Classic Ships, but there are some differences.

Inside Staterooms On Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy

disneyfantasyinsidestateroom

There are two different types of inside stateroom on the new ships.

The great innovation on these newer ships is the Virtual Porthole in all of the inside staterooms. T The Virtual Porthole is a video screen that projects images of the outside of the ship.

It’s a really great innovation that allows you to have a virtual window on the outside world. And if you watch carefully you may well see some Disney characters swim across the screen.

These staterooms are very popular, and often sell out more quickly than the Outside Categories.

Interior Stateroom Disney Dream and Fantasy Category 11A, 11B and 11C

These are 169 square feet and do not have a split bathroom. They have a Queen bed and a sleeper sofa. Some also have the drop-down bed above the sleeper. There are 131 interior staterooms available on Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream.

Deluxe Interior Staterooms on Disney Dream and Fantasy Category 10A

These are 204 square feet and sleep either 3 or 4. There are only 19 staterooms so this Category tends to sell out quickly. These do have a split bathroom.

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom on Disney Fantasy and Dream Category 9A,9B,9C and 9D

These Disney cruise staterooms are 204 square feet and have one or 2 small portholes. They sleep up to 4 guests and there are 91 available.

The ones with the 2 small portholes are not as popular as the ones with just one large window.

Family Oceanview Stateroom On Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream Category 8A,8B,8C and 8D

disneywonderstateroom

These Family Oceanview Staterooms sleep up to 5 guests and are 241 square feet. They have a Queen bed, sleeper sofa with a drop-down bunk bed above, and an additional pull-down bed near the window.

These Oceanview staterooms have a large porthole window which can be used as a window seat.

There are 108 staterooms on each of the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Dream.

Navigator’s Verandah Staterooms on the Disney Dream and Fantasy

The Navigator’s Verandah staterooms are very different from the ones on the Wonder and Magic. The term is used for the newer ships to mean that it is an obstructed view.

Some in this Category are still a good choice, but others are not so great.

The least desirable, as they do have quite a significantly obstructed view are 5024, 5524, 6178, 6678, 7182, 7680, 8176, 8674.

The best of the Disney Dream Cruise Secret Rooms with Verandah is 8022, 8164, 8520, and 8662. The obstruction is minimal and if these staterooms are available you should consider if they offer what you need for a better price than the category 6 Staterooms.

Deluxe Verandah Stateroom on Disney Fantasy and Dream Category 5A,5B,5C,5D,5E,6A,6B and 7A

These are the most plentiful staterooms with 499 to choose from onboard the Fantasy and Dream. They sleep up to 4 and have 203 square feet of living space and a balcony verandah of 43 square feet.

They have a Queen bed and sleeper sofa with some also having the drop-down bunk.

Family Verandah Stateroom On Disney Fantasy and Dream Category 4A,4B,4C,4D and 4E

These are 256 square feet of living space and a verandah of 43 square feet. There are 362 staterooms to choose from. They sleep up to 5 and all have a Queen bed, sleeper sofa with bunk above, and a drop-down bed near the verandah.

These are usually the highest price of the verandah staterooms. They are great if you have a family of 5 on a Disney cruise.

However, it is always important to check whether getting 2 staterooms for your family of 5 would be a better value – it also gives you much more space than the Family Verandah stateroom.

Disney Cruise Stateroom Size Is Important

disneycruiseverandahstateroom

Disney cruises have some of the largest staterooms at sea. They are up to 25% larger than average cruise line cabins. That makes a huge difference when you compare Disney with other cruise lines.

However, not all Disney cruise staterooms are created equal. As you would expect, the general rule is that the lower the price, the smaller the stateroom.

Always think carefully about the type of stateroom that you choose. If you want help with more detail about the different categories you can read this.

If you are choosing a stateroom on the Disney Fantasy or Disney Dream here is a guide with lots of pictures and videos .

Is A Disney Cruise Outside Stateroom a Good Choice?

disneysandiego

Usually, the least expensive staterooms on a Disney cruise are the Inside cabins. These staterooms do not have a direct view of the outside. I say usually the least expensive.

However, sometimes the Outside Staterooms are priced only slightly higher than the Inside Staterooms.

So it always pays to check. If you sail on the Disney Fantasy or the Disney Dream you will have a virtual porthole in an Inside Stateroom. The virtual porthole is a unique feature for Disney cruises.

The virtual porthole has a video feed that shows you what is happening outside the ship.

If you watch carefully you may even see Mickey and his friends. Virtual portholes are not available on the Classic Ships, the Disney Wonder, and the Disney Magic.

The technology simply wasn’t there when these classic Disney ships were launched.

Even though they have been reimagined they did not add the virtual portholes in dry dock.

If you want a real view of the ocean you need to book either an Outside or Verandah stateroom.

disneywonderwhitewallstateroom

One choice is an Obstructed View Outside or Verandah Stateroom. This usually means that your view will be obstructed by a lifeboat, post or panel.

The degree of obstruction varies a lot. Some you would barely notice the obstruction, but others really do block your view.

The bonus of Obstructed View Staterooms is that they are usually offered at a lower price than others in that category.

You just have to weigh up how important the view is for you and balance that against the price difference.

Disney Cruise Verandah staterooms are the most popular available. The luxury of having your own balcony is much sought after and many think that it is well worth the extra cost.

Disney Cruise Alaska Staterooms

disneycruisealaskastateroom

There is a lot of debate over whether a balcony stateroom is essential for a Disney Alaskan cruise . Obviously, if the cost is not important to you, then it is an easy choice.

A balcony is definitely the way to go. However, for most people, cost is an important factor.

Are you going to be missing out if you do not have a balcony for an Alaskan cruise? The best way to put it is that you will have a different cruise experience.

I have found that in general, when you have an inside stateroom on a Disney cruise, you do not spend much time in your room.

This is absolutely fine as there are so many things to do on the ship. However, an Alaskan cruise is different.

preventseasickness

You have to consider that a big part of the cruise to Alaska is the scenery. You will probably find that you want to spend a lot of your time on Deck 4 Promenade Deck so that you can take in the amazing sights.

There are comfortable deck chairs there on Deck 4. On most cruises on the Disney Wonder, you will rarely see anyone on Deck 4.

However, on an Alaskan cruise, it is the preferred spot for many people. At certain times good luck getting a chair!

Many guests sail very happily in an inside stateroom on a Disney cruise.

My advice is to compare the prices of the staterooms and see just how much of a premium you are paying for a balcony. A compromise is an Outside stateroom.

Sea Sickness Anyone?

Disney Wonder Panama Canal Cruise

One of the things which don’t get talked about very often is the possibility of experiencing seasickness on a Disney cruise. It happens.

Seasickness is rare and we can thankfully say that even in hurricane conditions we have never had a problem.

However, some people do. If you are concerned about seasickness you should pick a stateroom which is midship and on a lower deck.

Other advice would be to pick an Inside Stateroom as it is closer to the middle of the ship and you will experience less motion.

However, others would say that a Balcony Stateroom would be a better choice as you could see the horizon.

Are Some Disney Cruise Staterooms Noisy?

disney cruise stateroom

Different locations on the ship are noisier than others. The quietest places on the ship tend to be at the end of the corridor and on the middle decks.

Look carefully at the Disney Cruise Ship deck plans. If you are on the highest deck under the pools you may hear music and sun loungers being moved.

If you are on the lower decks you may hear the sound of the anchor being lowered when the ship gets into port. Staterooms near the elevators get more foot traffic with people passing to get to their cabins.

disneywonderoceanview

You may want to avoid a stateroom directly opposite the laundry as well. Always look at the Disney cruise ship deck plans to see what is above and below your stateroom.

This may be another reason to avoid Deck 1. Some people report that they would not choose this deck again as they could hear a lot of mechanical noise, particularly during docking.

Of course the lower you are on the ship the closer you are to the engines and you may hear noise from that or the machinery for putting down the anchor. I

have sailed on many different locations on the Disney ships. I have never been particularly affected by noise in any part of the Disney ships.

I would have to say that the nosiest has been Deck 8 though, and these are some of the most expensive staterooms on the ship!

Is A Disney Cruise Guarantee Stateroom a Good Thing?

Disney Cruise Military Discount

A Disney Cruise Guarantee stateroom has advantages and disadvantages. By booking a category guarantee you are saying that you will accept any stateroom either at the level you have booked or above.

For example, if you book an Outside Guarantee Stateroom you are booking a minimum of an Outside Cabin.

You can’t be downgraded to an Inside, but there is a very remote chance you will be upgraded to a Verandah.

However, the possibility of an upgrade is just that – a possibility. It does happen, but it is rare.

Never book a Guaranteed Stateroom thinking that you have a chance of an upgrade. It really is unlikely. Always make sure that you are happy with the category that you have booked.

That free Disney cruise stateroom upgrade will probably not happen. The advantage of a Guarantee is the price.

Usually, you will get a lower price on a Guarantee that you would for a specified stateroom.

The disadvantage is that you will not know which stateroom you will be allocated until very shortly before you set sail on your Disney Cruise.

disneywonderoceanview

For some people this is fine. However, for those who want a stateroom in a particular location they need to book a specific stateroom so that they can be sure of getting what they want.

However, I think that if you are prepared to take a bit of a chance then a Disney Cruise Guaranteed Stateroom is a great option.

I have booked them a number of times after being tempted by the great rate.

One other thing you need to know about Guaranteed Staterooms on the Disney Ships is that if you book more than one stateroom they may not be located together.

I have done this and had rooms allocated close by and others where we were on different decks. Disney cruise lines always do what it can to keep guests on the same reservation close by.

However, it is not guaranteed. If you want staterooms next to or opposite each other you must book-specific staterooms and not a guarantee.

Disney Cruise Stateroom Location, Location, Location

disneywondergoofypool

s it important that you are close to the restaurants, the pool, or the buffet? For some, this really doesn’t matter, but other guests really like to be close to certain places on the ship.

The most popular location is to be close to the pools. Others may want to be lower on the ship so that they are closer to the shops and entertainment.

The Disney Wonder and the Magic are much smaller ships than the Fantasy and the Dream. Location doesn’t matter quite as much on the classic ships as things are not placed so far apart.

I personally would avoid staterooms on Deck 1 of the Disney Wonder and Magic. Deck 1 has Inside Staterooms and Outside staterooms.

However, Outside staterooms have two small porthole windows. We think this restricts the view quite a lot compared to the outside staterooms with one porthole.

However, Deck 1 staterooms on the Classic Disney Ships do not have access to the aft elevators.

Therefore it can be a little more challenging navigating around this ship. If this slight inconvenience is not a problem then it can be a good choice if the price is a consideration.

Disney Cruise Stateroom Starboard or Port Side?

disneycruisetowelanimal

Should you book a Disney cruise stateroom on the port or starboard side of the ship?

As we are talking about the best views here it really doesn’t make any difference which side of the ship you are in if you have an inside stateroom.

However, if you have a stateroom with a view it can make a difference. If you are sailing to Castaway Cay we prefer staterooms on the starboard side. This is because you get the best views of Castaway Cay when you are arriving in the morning.

Disney Cruise Connecting Staterooms

disneywonderafterhoursbars

If you need a connecting stateroom on a Disney cruise then there are plenty available. Particularly on the Disney Dream and the Fantasy. These can give you a convenient set up if you have children but still want separate space.

If you have balcony connecting staterooms you can have a very large balcony as the partition can be pulled back.

However, if you are just having one stateroom we would suggest avoiding a connecting stateroom. Depending upon who your neighbors are you can sometimes hear them. A lot.

Disney Cruise Upgrade at Port: Getting an Even Better Room

concierge sun deck on disney magic

Are you looking for a trick on how to get Disney cruise upgrades at port?

Maybe you want to try sailing in the Concierge Level, but you don’t want to pay the full price.

Sometimes you can really luck out at the port by scoring a Disney cruise upgrade for your trip.

In this post, I will walk you through the steps of upgrading at the port when cruising with Disney . If available, this allows you to get a super nice stateroom for a really great discount!

Disney Cruise Rooms

First, you should always book a stateroom that is comfortable for your family. For example, don’t book a stateroom on Deck 1 if you don’t want to be on a lower level.

You will be kicking yourself once you get to the port, and you find that upgrades aren’t available. Then you will be stuck with a Deck 1 room that you never wanted in the first place.

picture of cabin on Disney Magic with text overlay How to Upgrade Your Disney Cruise Stateroom

This brings me to a very important point- Disney Cruise Line does NOT always have upgrades available at the port .

So, when booking your Disney cruise, choose a room that you KNOW your whole family will like because you are not guaranteed to find any last minute deals.

I recently returned from a cruise on the Disney Magic where my family upgraded to Concierge at the port. On this cruise, I sailed with my husband and our two daughters (who were 6 and 18 months old).

Disney Cruise Upgrades

We initially booked a Deluxe Inside Stateroom on Deck 2 for this trip. When pricing out our stateroom options, I chose not to book a room with a verandah because the price was significantly more.

Concierge Stateroom on the Disney Magic

Obviously pricing is subjective based on circumstances, but it was over a thousand dollars more for a balcony. We decided it wasn’t worth it for this trip.

Disney Cruise Line had rooms with portholes available for a few hundred dollars more than our inside stateroom.

However, these cabins didn’t offer any additional space in the room. So, we decided to just stick with our Deluxe Inside Stateroom.

Disney Magic Cruise Ship at Castaway Cay

At least, that was the plan until we traveled with our toddler a few weeks prior to our trip. Our younger daughter, who isn’t the greatest sleeper at home, was even worse on our trip.

She woke up at random times throughout the night and was also up at the crack of dawn each day. Right before our cruise, my husband and I decided that a stateroom with a verandah would be super useful!

This way, our toddler could sit and play on the balcony (with an adult of course) at 5 AM rather than waking up our six year old.

However, because we still weren’t sold on spending an extra thousand dollars for a verandah, my husband and I reluctantly chose to just keep our Inside Stateroom.

Disney Magic Pool Deck

Instead, I kept an eye on the Disney Cruise Line website leading up to our cruise and continued to see a lot of rooms with balconies available.

Many times, Disney cruises sell out, but this wasn’t the case with our off-season trip on the Magic.

Still, we didn’t want to get our hopes up that we would be able to upgrade our room at the port.

Can You Ask for an Upgrade on a Cruise Ship

The first day of your cruise is known as embarkation day . This is the day when you arrive at the cruise terminal, check in, and board the ship.

On embarkation day, a Disney Cruise Line employee will check you in at a counter in the terminal. This process is very similar to the one at the airport.

It is at this check in counter where I inquired about a room upgrade. Once the cast member finished checking in my family and giving us our Key Cards , I asked if there were any upgrades available.

To my delight (and relief), she responded that they did have some upgrades available. She walked my family over to the supervisor’s counter. This counter was located right beside the Concierge check in counter.

Gold Key to the World Card

The supervisor informed us that she had a Concierge Stateroom available. This room included a verandah, which is what we REALLY wanted.

Since the stateroom was classified as Concierge, it also came with a price that was more than we really wanted to spend.

Port Upgrade Chart

The supervisor used a price chart to show her what my family needed to pay to upgrade our room.

Since we had originally booked one of the cheapest rooms on the ship, we needed to pay a lot more to make up the difference for the Concierge price.

(If you already had a room with a verandah booked, the price difference probably wouldn’t be that significant.)

Even though this Concierge room was priced quite a bit higher than what we had paid for our original room, it was HIGHLY discounted.

Disney Cruise Planner

Since I had been watching the room prices for our cruise on the DCL website, I was aware of the normal price for these rooms. It would have cost more than $4000 to change to a Concierge room BEFORE our trip.

The price to upgrade at the port was less than half of that!

Still, we really just wanted a balcony in our room. We weren’t totally sure we needed all of the perks that came with Concierge. We initially turned it down because we didn’t want to spend the extra money.

Disney Magic Mickey Statue In Atrium

But……after discussing it further, my husband and I agreed that we would probably never get the chance to cruise Concierge at more than 50% off again…So, we upgraded!

This way we got our balcony AND the experience of cruising Concierge!

Upgrade at Port

I wanted to make sure to mention a couple important things about upgrading your room at the port. Disney Cruise Line did a wonderful job of immediately updating our account with our new stateroom number.

In fact, the Concierge staff seemed to know all about us right after we switched to Concierge level. Our luggage, on the other hand, did not get the memo. Our luggage tags had our original stateroom number listed on them.

Pelican Plunge Water Slide on Castaway Cay

Because of this, they were delivered to the Inside Stateroom we had initially booked. This was easily fixed by our room host. Once I noticed luggage appearing in the hallway of other rooms, I mentioned our upgrade to our room host.

Within minutes, he was on the phone and had located our bags. They were then immediately brought to our room. In addition, our Castaway Club gift did not get put in our new stateroom. Instead, this backpack was waiting for us in our original room.

Again, this was quickly taken care of by Disney. I just wanted to mention that for those who may choose to do the room gifts or decorations. If you upgrade at the port, your room decorations may not immediately follow you there.

Final Thoughts on Disney Cruise Upgrades

I really don’t like making huge decisions in the spur of the moment, especially when finances are involved. Because of this, I was worried we would end up regretting our decision to upgrade our room to Concierge at the port.

Disney ship and stateroom with text overlay Disney Cruise How to Upgrade Your Room

Luckily, we all ended up being really happy with our decision. The verandah was a huge help throughout our five day trip, and we used it a ton!

Is it better to get there earlier if you are hoping to get an upgrade? I noticed the ship we are sailing in October has many rooms available right now, so hoping to get an upgrade.

Hi Michelle,

I think it helps to get to the port early when you’re wanting to ask about an upgrade. I know people have scored an upgrade later in the day, but if you’re wanting first dibs on what is available, you’ll want to ask as soon as possible.

We upgraded from a Navigators Verandah room to a Family Veranduh for just $200 more last October. Having the extra space for the playpen was totally worth it!! I’m checking now for our next cruise and its $1k to upgrade. Hoping to get the same deal at the port next time!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! $200 sounds like a great price for the extra square footage. We love the family verandah rooms! Hope you get lucky on your port upgrades on the next cruise! 🙂

Was there an option to upgrade to just a verandah room or only concierge?

Hi Courtney,

Yes, the cast member will give you prices for a stateroom with a verandah if one is available for an upgrade. Hope you have a great trip!

Hi, I am going on the Magic in January and hope to upgrade at port. You picture shows concierge bar is open 5pm-10pm. Are drinks free that entire time- or only certain hours?

During our sailing, the Concierge bar served free drinks during the whole 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm time slot. I’m not sure if it’s unlimited free drinks, but we were able to grab wine to take to dinner with us. After dinner, we got a second drink to take to the show. Hope that helps! Enjoy the Disney Magic!

What is a Stateroom on a Cruise Ship and Which is Best?

W hen you start to book a cruise vacation, you’ll have some things to consider. First, you’ll want to choose which cruise line you plan to sail on. Next, you’ll want to look at individual ships, itineraries, and dates. Once you’ve narrowed down the exact sailing, it’s time to choose your stateroom.

What is a stateroom on a cruise ship? A stateroom is like a hotel room, but at sea. While you will hopefully be spending lots of time exploring the ship and out at the various ports of call, you’ll still spend lots of time in your room.

It’s important to not only understand what the different stateroom types are (like balcony, interior, etc ) but also to understand cabin location. Some people find that they have strong performances for the stateroom location, while other people won’t care. Cabin type is important, however.

Here’s the information you’ll need to know about choosing a stateroom, based on your preferences and budget. Keep in mind that every cruise line is a bit different in how it classifies staterooms, so you may need to do a little additional research on your specific cruise line.

Disclosure: We have been on some complimentary cruises and have paid for many of our own. This post contains affiliate links, but a purchase/click-through of these links may result in a commission paid to us at no cost to you. All opinions are my own.

What is a Stateroom on a Cruise Ship and Which One is Best

Types of cruise ship staterooms and differences.

Here are some of the most popular types of cabins. Not every cruise line/cruise ship will have every type of room, so you’ll have to look at the booking details and deck plan to see what is available on your sailing. You can choose your cruise ship cabins during the booking process.

Interior Staterooms: These rooms are often a great deal. They don’t offer balconies or windows, unlike outside cabins. I personally find that I need to have a view of the ocean, even for just the natural light. However, you can definitely save money by choosing an interior room, and they can be a good value.

Porthole Stateroom : This type of stateroom isn’t available on all cruise ships. With a porthole view, you’ll have a round, porthole as a window, rather than floor-to-ceiling windows. There’s no exterior access with this type of room.

Oceanview Stateroom: An oceanview cabin will typically have larger windows than a porthole stateroom. There’s a full view of the ocean, but you won’t be able to go outside from your room in an oceanview cabin without a balcony. Within this stateroom category, there are often obstructed view or partial view rooms, although there’s typically a large window.

Balcony Stateroom : This type of stateroom, also called a verandah stateroom (on Disney Cruise Line), offers a private balcony with access to the outside. Like oceanview rooms, sometimes balcony rooms have obstructed views or larger/smaller balconies. I prefer a balcony room because I really enjoy spending time outside, reading a book and drinking my coffee. While you can save money by choosing a room without a balcony, I personally feel it’s worth it.

Cruise Suite: If you are looking for a more luxurious experience at sea, there are also suites to consider. These can vary from a small junior suite to multi-bedroom suites, depending on the ship. Many cruise suites also come with concierge services, including special happy hours, extra service, and dedicated lounges and sun decks.

Locations of Staterooms

Another consideration is the location of your stateroom. In some cases, you’ll get a choice. If you book a GTY (guaranteed) stateroom, or sail on Virgin Voyages , you won’t have a room location option.

Some people care more about stateroom location than others. So you’ll have to think about your preferences before you book. Options will include the deck (level) as well as the location on the ship – forward, aft, or midship.

On smaller ships, the location doesn’t matter as much. But on larger ships, like the Royal Caribbean Oasis Class (including the Wonder and the Allure ), you’ll really want to make sure you get a location you like.

Often the higher decks are preferable. However, you may not want to be under certain areas of a ship. This would include a busy nightclub, a pool deck, or a smokey casino.

Higher decks do sometimes feel more movement but may be closer to the action. You may want to think about what parts of the ship you going to be in the most, and consider a stateroom that will require the least amount of stairs. Lower decks typically have less movement but do not always have the best view.

In addition to the deck, you’ll want to decide what part of the ship to be in – midship, forward, or aft. Midship is usually the best option if possible. You’ll be in the center of the action and won’t have to walk too far in either direction to get to wherever you are going.

To me, the type of stateroom I book is much more important than the location. I’ve stayed all over cruise ships and have always had a great experience. If your sailing has an option for a guaranteed room, you may be able to save money if you don’t care about location. It can be a great way to save some money on your vacation – that you can use on drinks, specialty dining, or excursions!

You’ll also want to look beyond the deck and location. For this, you’ll need to look at the deck plan for your ship. In general, you want to look to see if you are near an elevator or service area, or are in an area where others can see your balcony from the top decks. These aren’t necessarily deal-breakers (unless you are a very light sleeper), but if you have a choice, it’s good to avoid these cruise staterooms.

General Stateroom Amenities

Before you set sail, you’ll want to see what stateroom amenities are offered. That will make sure you are fully prepared before you get on board.

Some things to look for are hairdryers, outlets, type of closet/space, bed configurations, safes, and bathroom setup. Keep in mind that regardless of what type of stateroom you book, it’s likely to be small. Even the most luxurious staterooms are still small. So don’t overpack and try to bring things that are easy to tuck into small spaces.

You’ll also want to see what the bed configuration is. Is there a king-size bed? A sofa bed? Bunk beds? Know in advance, especially when traveling with your whole family.

Choosing the Best Stateroom

If you’ve never sailed on a cruise ship, you may not know what the best staterooms are. Luckily, there are some resources that you can use to get reviews and learn more about rooms on various ships. One option is to do an internet search or Facebook search for your cruise ship. You may find some reviews of cabins.

Another option is the Cruise Deck Plan database . This website offers images and deck plans for a huge variety of popular cruise lines/cruise ships. You can look for one particular ship and see all the details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you choose your stateroom on a cruise ship?

On most lines, you can, unless you book a guaranteed cabin (GYT). Virgin Voyages, however, doesn’t let you book your room.

Do staterooms have a private bathroom?

Yes, staterooms will have a private bathroom, in every type of cabin.

Is it worth it to have a balcony on a stateroom?

I think it’s absolutely worth it because I typically spend lots of time on the balcony. Having your own private balcony can give you some additional space to spread out. While balcony staterooms do cost more money, I think it’s worth it.

Is there a difference between a cabin and a stateroom on a cruise ship?

No, a cabin and a stateroom are synonymous.

Is stateroom location important?

It can be important if you are concerned about shorter walks and noise levels in your cruise experience.

What is the best cruise ship cabin?

That can vary based on your preferences. I personally prefer a balcony cabin in the middle of the ship.

What is your favorite stateroom location on a cruise ship?

Disney Cruise Line: What is a Single Supplement?

“Single supplement” is general tourism term for an additional fee charged to solo travelers to make up for their lost revenue by not having a second person sharing accommodations. Single supplements are particularly common with cruise lines and all-inclusive resorts.

Disney Cruise Line does not use the term “single supplement,” but they do employ the concept, using the term “single-occupancy fare.” Per the DCL website, “If you are traveling alone and would like your own stateroom, you will be charged the same total package price as two guests staying in the same stateroom.”

I have sailed solo on DCL twice and would be inclined to do this more often, but paying for a phantom extra person really rankles my sense of fairness. Contrast DCL’s solo pricing with a solo traveler to Walt Disney World. At WDW, your hotel room price will be the same whether you have one or two (or three or four) people in the same room, but solo travelers don’t have to pay for food or entertainment (park ticket) of a non-existent companion. You are paying for the food and entertainment of that non-existent person on DCL.

I understand DCL’s rationale in the abstract, but they don’t even offer last minute solo fares, preferring to leave vacant staterooms rather than filling vacancies with individual guests. If you do want to sail DCL alone, the least expensive way to do this is by getting an inside stateroom. As a solo traveler you’ll find the space to be perfectly adequate, but you will miss out on the sunlight or outdoor space of an oceanview or verandah stateroom.

guaranteed verandah stateroom disney cruise

If you want to go on an ocean cruise and avoid paying a single supplement, there are other cruise lines that have cabins specifically designed for solo guests. For example, Norwegian Cruise Line has several ships with small staterooms designed and priced for individuals. Additionally there is a special lounge just for guests booked in these solo staterooms. Other lines that have solo-friendly cabins on some of their ships include MSC, Holland America, Royal Caribbean, and Virgin Voyages.

Thank you for sharing this information. I’ve always wondered how DCL handles solo travelers, and I must say I’m disappointed by their approach. This makes other cruise lines even more attractive – their regular prices are already less than DCL, and their solo/single supplement is cheaper as well.
