Not sure if this is right place to ask this, seems like it though. I apologize in advance if I guessed wrong. I have been looking at getting some lessons. The PGA superstore offers a 6 pack with the club membership for about 250. I was told that the lessons are 45-60 min w video feedback, and you get a dvd of each lesson. Seems like a good deal. I can't find any feedback on them on the web though. Has anyone taken lessons there? Anyone in N TX/DFW area have other recommendations? I did look at golftec too, but way out of the range I want to spend.

I've never heard much about PGA SS itself, but I think it's going to boil down to the instructor more than anything. Video feedback is always a good thing. It really helps to have somebody that matches your learning style, whether it's technical or not for example. I'd talk to the instructor first and get a feel for what he/she is like. Maybe ask for references too. I ended up w/ my current instructor after seeing some of his students in action and talking to him quite a bit.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I agree that you need to mesh with the instructor. The first time I took lessons, it was like we spoke different languages. The second one had me in a groove and dropping strokes after 2 lessons. The real difference was he said things in a way I could understand. SW, not long winded at all. I appreciate the info and detail. I have to rule out Golftec though. I'm a sales professional and I can't reward the kind of sales pitch I received (twice) with a close. And, I was not offered anything less than, or lead to believe there was any thing less than a 10 pack + evaluation cost. $300 5 pack might have hooked me if they had offered it. The video feedback seems somewhat pointless with out the instruction on it, so that makes the pga store less desirable now. In the past I couldn't always remember everything my instructors told me, or exactly how to do the drills. Any other options with video feedback? Maybe an outside facility in N TX? I know I need to a little more research and to get out and interview some instructors. I guess I should also state my goal. I just want get my swing back in shape enough that I don't embarrass my self when I play with customers. I don't have the time to practice like I did before I quit playing, and will probably only get 2-4 rounds in a month.

Honestly, Don't go to the PGA SS. It set me back a good 6 months in progression. Do a little research in your local area for top rated instructors and then go see them about twice a month. I grew an awesome relationship with my coach and he's like my mentor and my backbone for everything collegiate golf. Plus, I've developed more in my swing these last 3 months then the 20 or so months prior to that. That's the kind of instruction you need.

They Make 'em. I Buy 'em.

I have never been impressed with PGA SS regarding lessons with the exception of one or two employees. Had a friend who took lessons there and it took him a few months to get his swing back to where he was. I would suggest lesson at GolfTec. I have never take lessons there but have spoken with the guys there and was impressed with their knowledge. I have also heard good things from students I know who took lessons there.

Thanks for the great feedback on PGA SS. I just couldn't find anything on them, but plenty of reviews of Golftec on the web. And thanks for the warning about them too. I went by a few places yesterday, and felt totally uncomfortable with the PGA SS guys I talked too. And yes, no instruction on the cd they give you. I signed up for a lesson with the assistant pro at a local golf course. I felt very comfortable with him and his philosophy. I didn't feel like he was trying to sell me. He said I could take one lesson, and if I felt it was working for me after some practice, he would include the one lesson cost towards the package price. I like that they use a combo of inside with video and monitors, and outside to see the ball fight. My first lesson is Monday, hope it goes well.

Took the first lesson today. I thought it went very well. And, my swing was not as bad as I thought it was. And, I think video is awesome. Based on my shots, I was sure I was casting, and my upper and lower body were out of tempo. Also felt I had a balance issue. Video does not lie, and none of those things were wrong with my swing. My posture was terrible, way to upright, and I was opening the club face at the start of the back swing. He worked on my posture and set up, and keeping the club face square for as long as I can on the take away. The posture felt weird as heck at the start, but I started hitting straight long shots almost immediately. Now I need a lot of practice to get more comfortable with the posture. Thanks for all the input and suggestions. The tips of making sure you mesh with the instructor, and getting video feedback really helped. I will update the thread after the next couple lessons. We will see if I feel the same in a few weeks.

I have to say I am very frustrated with my swing right now. I have had time for only 2 short practice sessions since my Monday lesson. I was very excited to practice after the lesson went so well. Tuesday I stopped at the range, about 104* out, and I wasn't really in the mood to practice, but wanted to work on it. Only hit about 40 balls, just to hot and I was already tired from the day. I wanted to focus on getting comfortable with my new posture and keeping the club head square to target on take away. I felt I was making some progress, but not much. I know I will hit some really bad shots as I get comfortable with the changes. I was hoping to see some of the great looking shots I was hitting Monday after Travis straightened me out. Didn't happen, didn't hit one shot I felt good about. Most sliced off to the right. I was tired and it was hot, so I called it a day after 40 or so balls. Went to the range this morning. Beautiful morning, cold front came through last night and cooled us off to the upper 60s. Windy, but at my back. Wow, even worse today. Almost every shot I hit near the sweet spot was crazy high, and only about 120-130 yards (that's with a 20mph wind at my back). Didn't matter if it was PW or 5H, same distance and ball flight for the most part. The really bad shots were shanks. The only positives are I only hit about 3 super fat shots, and I'm making slightly better contact with the ball, and all but the shanks went straight today, so I guess that's a little progress. I'm gonna try to get in for a lesson today or tomorrow. I'm clearly doing something wrong or forgetting something he taught me, because I had an immediate and much better result Monday in the lesson. I don't want to practice anymore until I get in for the lesson, don't want to ingrain a new swing flaw. I will say that the new to me Redlines are very forgiving. Hit a few off the toe that looked pretty much like the dead center shots. And nowhere near as harsh on my hands as my Tzoid True blades.

Hang in there buddy, it is always the hardest when you're making a change. Get him to give you some drills that you can do at home in your free time.

Update since Saturday. I booked my second lesson for Sunday afternoon. Later Sat afternoon, I went in my garage and hit foam balls off a mat. Thought I had it figured out. And that is why I'm glad I booked the lesson, because I didn't have it figured out. Again, video does not lie. Travis watched me warm up, and then take some full shots. I thought it would be better than the the day before, but the sky high ball flight was still there. After about ten shots, he informs me that I am about to hit some of the worst golf shots in my life. Because he was about to change a few things. We spent the next 15-20 minutes working on my back swing, in very slow motion. He was working on getting my arms and shoulders turning as one, and keeping the club head on the target line as long as possible. Just swing to the top and stop to check. Then he let me hit some balls. The ball flight was immediately better. More boring. Still short, but we were still in slow motion mode. I worked on this for about 20 more minutes, then we went inside to check it with the video. He had me hit a few shots and compared it to last week. He pointed out the changes he was making, and pointers on some more corrections. Video is so useful. To see your swing from 2 angles, slowed down, and then compared to a good swing, makes a huge impact for me. Drives the points home. He also said my new posture is looking great. I do feel very comfortable and almost automatic with it now. My problem was that I was just swinging with my arms, and keeping the left to close to my chest. This forced me to far inside on the back swing, and nowhere to go but over the top to get through the ball. He did give me some advise and drills to work on during the week. so I have been doing that. Hit balls at the range Monday. Much better ball flight, and straight to slight baby fade. Very happy with that. But still very short. I worked on the drills at home, and felt like it is really coming along. Hit the range again today. Started off great. Nice trajectory, straight, and much longer. Until I got to my 6 iron. Couple of decent shots at first, and then chunks, high balls, slices. Tried go back to the 7, same thing. I decided to stop, and go in and schedule my next lesson. Travis told me to grab my 6 iron and lets get a couple swings on video, see what's going on. Took 2 swings, which were of course better than just a few minutes earlier. He saw that I was rolling the face open on the down swing. Told me how to correct it. Hit a couple more, much better, but still not one piece. More corrective advice, few more swings, and there it is. It just clicked. I know I have a long way to go with up and downs I'm sure. But, in under 2 weeks I am making huge strides. Travis warned that it going to worse before it gets better, and he is correct. He also warned me today to quit practicing when I feel fatigue. Take a break and walk around and get a drink or something and then go back to it. When you get tired, your old muscle memory/habits/swing starts take over. Especially when leaning new muscle memory. BTW, he didn't count today towards the lessons, although he spent 30-45 minutes with me. Said he includes the tweaks as part of the lesson package, and would prefer I come to him instead of ingraining a fault or bad habit. Sorry for the long post. I hope it is encouraging to anyone that is on the fence about lessons. I have made far more improvement in 2 weeks than I ever could have trying to figure it out on my own. Finding a teacher that you understand and respond to is the best golf tip I have received to date. Playing 18 with my wife Saturday, we will see how it goes.

I'm reviving this old thread because I'm strongly considering adding in some PGA SS lesson to my instruction regime. I like the new instructor I started with at my club yesterday, but having video to look at and study IMO is a big deal. the club is just not equipped for video. I used the practice bays at PGASS today (with video you can view but not save) and noticed a few things right away that I'm doing that are bad, but my instructor hadn't mentioned or possibly hadn't noticed. I could only really see them when I stopped the video or slowed it down. Also, I priced both Golftec and PGA SS today. Golftec is only 30 minute lessons, and a 3-pack of them (with some limited range time included) is 299. The 10-pack "training camp" is 899. PGA SS is $229 for a 6-pack of 60-minute lessons and for an additional 50 bucks you get unlimited practice bay usage for a year. So, has anyone used the PGA SS for lessons recently? I'm not looking to do this *instead* of working with my club instructor, but perhaps in addition to. I'm thinking I see him a couple times per month, then go to PGA SS to get the videos and a different perspective on things once a month. Seeing my progress on video should be very helpful, plus I can bring the DVD back for my official coach to check out. Thoughts?

baldguy said: I guess nobody has done this. Well, now I have . I went in today to use their heated indoor practice facility and talked to the head pro about lessons. He said they weren't doing lessons this week or most of next b/c they were short handed due to most of their floor staff being at the PGA show in Orlando. The place was mostly dead so he said he would spend 10 minutes with me for free. He had me hit two golf balls and stopped me. He said that was all he needed to spot some major issues. I apparently do a lot of things right, but a few things very wrong. He proceeded to change the ball position, my grip, and my posture. All of them were things that my other coach mentioned, but this guy was a lot more specific and used the cameras to show me what he wanted me to do. He put my image up on the big screen next to Ernie Els, and it was plain as day. He explained the whats and whys of the improvements he was making. I'd hit a couple more balls, he'd make a couple more adjustments. After about 15 minutes of this back and forth, my half of the screen was starting to look a lot more like Ernie's. We did this with setup first, then he started talking about club release. he showed me how my late release was keeping the clubhead open at impact and forcing me to make small moves to try and correct the issues subconsciously. We worked on a few other small issues and I could see the results immediately on the monitors. We ended up working on this for over an hour! He said this was a free evaluation but once they started doing lessons again after about 7-10 days he'd love to see me back for the real deal. It sure felt like a full lesson, I know I definitely learned a lot. I really, really liked his teaching style. It was a lot more specific and demonstrative than what I've experienced in the past. The video aspect was a big deal, IMO. I'll be buying the 6-pack of 60-minute lessons for $229 that they offer. That's cheaper than the pro at my local club, and it's climate-controlled with video! I'm really looking forward to the PGA SS lesson experience. It's tons cheaper than Golftec, and even a bit cheaper than local options. I feel like I learned more in this freebie lesson than I have in all of my previous lessons combined. Granted, I have a better base now but still. I'm excited Click to expand...

I'm going tomorrow to buy new irons and since they offer free fittings, I am going to get that for loft, lie, and length. I still plan on the full bag fitting from GolfTEC unless I see results from PGA SS (free at PGA, $189 at GolfTEC). I might also get a single lesson just to work on my slice. I feel that if I can drop the slice, I will be dropping strokes like it's my job. Great thing about the PGA SS where I am at, the Eisenhower golf course is right there. Rain in the forecast, so the practice bays is where it's at. This is also perfect because I can dial in my wedges and new irons, and get a proper Scor method for the new season.

Review - PGA Superstore Practice Plan

nevets88

By nevets88 , December 11, 2017 in Instruction and Playing Tips

Recommended Posts

Mentioned this in another post, but thought I'd write something here for more visibility. Haven't used it that long, so will update this thread as I get more of a feel for the plan. For $150, you get unlimited 30 minute sessions at the indoor stalls in the PGA Superstore. The stalls are reasonably sized, I'd guess about the size of a small elongated private house garage.

There is a simulator, but haven't used it and guessing it's not going to be as accurate is I'd like it to be. There's just enough room to get the full swing down the line on video, but face on, you're not going to see the clubhead on the downswing or post impact. The reservation website is a little dodgy, couldn't find the option to reserve, eventually used a book again link from the booking created by a salesman at the store. It says I have 3 appointments left as of now, I thought it's unlimited, will talk to the store next visit.

You're also allowed to putt. I'd like to use the Visio template, but the artificial mat won't allow you to press tees into the ground, so guess will have to flatten it out. There are seminars held frequently so you'll have to make sure not to show up at these times when the class will use the stalls or the green. The time allotted for the stalls is 30 minutes, but if demand for the stalls is low, you can stay a little longer.

Compared to Golftec, it's obviously a downgrade, you'll have to check in your clubs and head covers when you go in as well (they put a sticker around the shafts and keep your head covers so you'll have to remember to pick them up on the way out), but at a fraction of Golftec's cost (1/7th?), I'll put up with the inconveniences. Golftec had its inconveniences as well, you had to wait to get a room sometimes and the simulator sometimes had to be rejiggered, you couldn't use your own camera - not enough space. And I'm guessing there's not as much room for a Mevo to measure ball flight.

More after I spend more time at the facility, perhaps others can add their experiences here.

Informative

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

I would totally do something like that. Had no clue Golftec offered something like this.

I wish more indoor places offered discount use rates like this, indoor practise gets expensive really quickly.

  • 4 weeks later...

After a month would have to say the plan already paid for itself, have been going 2X a week and usually get 40 minutes, maybe an hour if it's not busy, don't stay longer so as not to abuse the privilege. It's still annoying trying to get a good face on view as there's no space. Leaving the stickers on the clubs gets you in straight away, leaving the head covers in the car makes for another thing you won't have to deal with. And the background music is a little too mainstream for me. Practicing to Barbra Streisand is a first for me. Still I'm the only one I've noticed to bring in a tripod.

If 30 sessions over the winter, that's $5 a session. That's way cheaper than the hourly rate of any simulator and also way cheaper than Golftec. I'll probably buy stuff from the store on the way out if there's a deal.

You said leaving the stickers on the clubs?  Do you mean reflective dots?  If so is the monitor GC2?

1 hour ago, inthecup said: You said leaving the stickers on the clubs?  Do you mean reflective dots?  If so is the monitor GC2?

Those are the blue stickers that wrap around the bottom of your shaft to distinguish your clubs from whatever's on display. Initially they left slack and they fell off, then they put them on tight and will pretty much gonna use a heat gun to get it off in the spring.

They don't use GC2, don't know what they use, there are all these black markings on their balls.

There are 6 bays, and I'd guess 6 smaller ones for club fitting.

The putting green is small, but I'd guess the stimp is 13, 14, not much fake grass over the concrete.

This is off topic, but the M3/M4s aren't in the store yet. No ETA.

Yeah, that's it. Those markings aren't going to interfere with the Mevo, right?

I can't say. It's been too long since I last tested it.

In retrospect, this was probably the best $150 I spent for practicing during the winter. Especially with the recent cold spells. And plan doesn't expire till December, so can still use it for rainy days. One of the things being "limited" to 45 minute to 1 hour practice sessions (it's technically 30 minutes, but usually someone doesn't kick me out straight away) is improving focus. I feel a bit weird, most of the staff know my name some I've never really spoken with, guess very much a regular. Also, a good supermarket is right next door, plus Home Depot, so kill two birds with one stone synergies.

  • 5 months later...

To add, used this plan more often than I thought in the summer, with all the rain plus regular outdoor range closes a lot because drainage I'm guessing. As opposed to going to outdoor range option number two where I'm not part of a frequent usage plan and don't save any money, plus paying almost ten dollars for a bucket I'll half the time leave many balls behind, going to PGA Superstore saved some money and air conditioned to boot. Suspect I've gone at least dozen times during the summer so that's a lot of chicken dinners. Plus the change in venue, indoors, takes a little out of the drudgery of practicing at the same place all the time, should have used it more often.

I'm a bit late to the game on this thread, but thought I'd add that I use this plan in my area and they don't have the 2 per week cap.  You can go every day as long as you reserve.  In the cold weather, it's pretty busy.

Actually, my mistake, it's 3 a week. Seems like most who work the counter know my name now, so guess I'm a regular. Best money I ever spent on winter practice.

7 Reasons For Golfers To Shop At PGA TOUR Superstore

The PGA TOUR Superstore has grown rapidly since 2003, with 54 brick-and-mortar locations across the United States. I also appreciate their online store’s healthy selection of clubs, balls, bags, footwear apparel, and technology.

I’ve been playing golf since I was four, so I’ve seen it all. But I still get excited about buying new clubs and accessories. That’s why it’s always enjoyable to walk into a PGA TOUR Superstore and browse the same clubs my favorite golfers use.

Here are the top 7 reasons to shop at PGA TOUR Superstore:

  • Huge selection
  • Good prices for every budget
  • Online and in-person locations
  • Hitting bays let you test the clubs
  • Services include club repair, regripping, club fitting, and lessons
  • Everything you need for golf is under one roof
  • 90-Day Retur n  Policy  lets you take the clubs for a test run

But there are many options to buy new golf equipment, and it’s not cheap, so be sure to read to the end to see if PGA TOUR Superstore is right for you.

The PGA TOUR Superstore features 54 locations  stretching from the East to the West Coast.

Florida has the largest concentration, with 10 stores between Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville. Texas is a close second with 9 stores, while California is in third with 6 locations around the state.

You can check the table below to see if a PGA TOUR Superstore is open in your city or nearby.

If you do not have the luxury of a PGA TOUR Superstore in your area, enjoy the selection of products online. You can find an array of golf clubs, balls, bags, apparel, footwear, technology, and accessories from the biggest brands delivered to your doorstep.

Naturally, you lose the experience of testing products in-store and enjoy the services and amenities. However, it is a suitable alternative to securing your desired golf gear at a comfortable price.

Anyone in the US can get free shipping on orders over $99. Players’ Club Plus Golf members receive free ground shipping on all orders. It typically takes up to 10 business days to arrive in the 48 contiguous states.

International shipping is also available to 100 countries using their partner, Borderfree. This is helpful for South African golfers or digital nomads like myself who want to order a set from Argentina.

Yes, the PGA TOUR Superstore is affiliated with the PGA TOUR, as it is the tour’s official off-course retailing partner. However, the PGA TOUR does not own the PGA TOUR Superstore. The retailer is a subsidiary of the Blank Family of Businesses founded by Arthur J. Blank.

Before diving into the realm of golf retail, Blank co-founded another mega-successful operation known as Home Depot. The Blank Family of Businesses is also the owner and operator of the Atlanta Falcons and MLS outfit Atlanta United FC.

Top 7 reasons golfers shop at the pga tour superstore for equipment.

After receiving feedback from a buddy who recently visited a PGA TOUR Superstore, we found 7 top reasons to shop at the retailer. The scale of the stores, unbeatable prices, affordable services, and amenities make it the ideal one-stop shop for amateur golfers seeking new gear.

There are other advantages to the PGA TOUR Superstore, like fittings, club repair, and coaching. However, I left those out because not every store offers these services, and it’s best to manage your expectations.

I’m blown away by the size of the outlet that my buddy visited in Florida. The abundance of clubs, footwear, and gear overwhelmed him for a moment, and then he became like a kid in a candy store, unsure of which section to start looking at.

Besides equipment, he was impressed with the overall facilities, including hitting bays and greens. The facility he visited in Jacksonville also offers PGA TOUR Superstore lessons, but that might not be the case at the store in your city.

The size of the stores allows the brand to pack every golf item you need under one roof, giving you a healthy selection. Given the size of the company, PGA TOUR Superstore is afforded greater bargaining power with suppliers than some of its smaller competitors. This allows shoppers to enjoy outstanding discounts on renowned brands.

I briefly touched on the bargaining power of PGA TOUR Superstore and the abundance of equipment in their stores. This allows them to price their golf clubs, footwear, apparel, and technology products competitively.

Obviously, newer models may carry the same premium price tag you find elsewhere. However, their selection allows you to find options within your budget. For example, my buddy tested a new $400 Scotty Cameron and an older edition Odyssey for $35.

The company moves exceptional volumes of golf equipment and always has items on sale that you can take advantage of. You can also trade in old clubs and use the difference towards new clubs.

Alternatively, reap the rewards of well-priced PGA TOUR Superstore used clubs if you are not ready to fork out on a new set of golf clubs.

I’ve written a lot of reviews of golf equipment I’ve tested over the years, and PGA TOUR Superstore has a unique offering. You can buy from the comfort of your home or check it out from home and then head to the store to try it out.

Many online retailers have a large selection, but you can’t feel it, swing it, or hear how it sounds when you hit it. On the other hand, local golf shops offer a customized experience where you can test the equipment, but you can’t browse the latest clubs from your couch on a lazy Sunday.

PGA TOUR Superstore has the best of both worlds.

When you shop online , you miss out on the experience of a PGA TOUR Superstore. A trip to one of their outlets makes you feel like a professional. Besides inspecting the wealth of gear, you actually get to try it out in the store, using their practice bays.

My buddy informed me that two types of practice bays are on offer, depending on the facilities. The first is a standard bay, where you can hit away and test new clubs. The other practice bay is fancier and is equipped with a simulator, allowing you to play virtual rounds of golf in the store.

Unfortunately, the Practice+Play Bays with simulators are only available at certain outlets. The PGA TOUR Superstore does charge for using the simulator and practice bays. However, you can lower your expenses by paying the PGA TOUR Superstore membership fee.

The store in Jacksonville that my buddy visited also had an epic putting green. He managed to work on long, medium, and short putts on a smooth rolling surface, giving him a clearer idea of the best putter for his game.

I welcome the services offered by the PGA TOUR Superstore at select locations, as it reinforces its mission to be a one-stop shop for golf. The location in Jacksonville offers club repairs, regripping, custom fittings , and coaching clinics.

I discovered that a 1 hour PGA TOUR Superstore Club Fitting for irons, a driver, or a putter would set me back $99.99 at the Jacksonville facility.  This is reasonable compared to other entities that offer club fittings.

Alternatively, a 45-minute hybrid, fairway wood, or wedge fitting would cost $59.99. Ensure you book on the   PGA TOUR Superstore  website in advance.

Club repairs and regripping costs vary depending on the materials and locations. You can save in any case with the Players Club Plus Golf membership. It gets you 30% off club regripping and 50% off select club repairs.

The size of PGA TOUR Superstore facilities, equipment, amenities, and services makes it a one-stop shop for golf. It saves us from acquiring golf clubs and balls from one facility and technology, golf clothing , and footwear from somewhere else — ultimately improving convenience.

I also like that we can practice and test different equipment under one roof.  My buddy spent 3 hours in the store trying everything from drivers to spikeless golf shoes. Having everything under one roof allowed him to take his time and thoroughly test all equipment before making a decision.

What works on the simulator may not perform on the golf course. That is why the PGA TOUR Superstore offers a 90-day Return Policy on golf clubs.

If you are unhappy with how the club plays, return it for a store credit for a different golf club.

Although you do not get your money back, the store is fair enough to give you a second chance. They also do not charge a return fee, meaning they credit your account for the complete value of the golf club you returned.

PGA TOUR Superstore Membership Review

PlayersClub pga tour superstore shopping review

I noticed that the retailer offers 2 annual membership options for golfers. The Players’ Club package is an entry-level option that earns points for every dollar spent, a birthday reward, and discounts on selected goods. It is a free membership  and takes less than a minute to sign up.

The Players’ Club Plus Golf is my preferred option because it offers exceptional value for money.  Annual fees range from $99 to $199, depending on your location, but my buddy found the Jacksonville outlet highly reasonable. The Players’ Club Plus membership fee was only $140 for the year.

This entitles him to unlimited 30-minute sessions in the Standard Practice Bays and discounts on club regripping and club repair services. Facilities with Practice+Play Bays will give Players’ Club Plus Members a 20% discount for the service.

A PGA TOUR Superstore Gift Card  with a Players’ Club Plus membership is also a worthwhile gift for your golf-loving friends and family.

Points For Every Dollar Spent

The Players’ Club Plus and Free Membership earn members points for every dollar spent. A bonus $10 reward is issued after spending $500. You can then use the points towards apparel, accessories, or footwear purchases.

Unlimited Practice Bay Sessions (No Sim)

The Players’ Club Plus subscription entitles you to unlimited 30-minute practice sessions in the Standard bays. This means they are not equipped with a launch monitor and simulator, leaving you with no insight into your shots. However, it’s still perfect for working on your swing and testing out a wealth of new and pre-owned equipment.

20% Off Practice+Play Bays

Practice+Play Bays are a brilliant way to capture data on your swing and play a virtual round of golf to test new clubs. The Players’ Club Plus Membership offers a 20% discount off a 60-minute session in the Practice+Play Bays. Before you get excited, PGA TOUR Superstore only offers the setup in a few locations.

I found the Boise, Idaho store, charges $29.99 for a 60-minute session in the bay. After applying the discount, you only need to pay $23.99. It is far more affordable than purchasing a home golf simulator. Especially if you only use the simulator a few times a year.

30 Free Club Regripping Services

Joining the Players’ Club Plus team gives you access to 30 free regripping services. In other words, they do not charge you for the labor. When you purchase new shafts, club heads, or grips, they will fit them for you.

50% Off Select Club Repairs

I noticed that the PGA TOUR Superstore provides a 50% discount on shaft and clubhead repair services. The discount only applies to the labor of the team and not the shafts or grips.

Different Amenities

While the PGA TOUR Superstore goes above and beyond for amateurs, not all stores are equipped with premium features. Practice+Play Bays is a big one for me. The technology is insightful, and the service is cost-effective, yet they are only available in 5 locations.

In addition, club regripping and repair services are a tremendous feature but are limited to selected stores. I would like to see the retailer offering these resources at more outlets to increase the value of the Players’ Club Plus membership for all members.

PGA TOUR Superstore Accessories To Consider

In addition to a huge selection of golf clubs, you can find thousands of balls, shoes, apparel, tech, bags, and more. Here are a few categories that stood out to me.

pga tour superstore review titleist pro v1 golf balls

PGATSS has plenty of golf balls to pick from. Right now, they have 119 kinds on their website.

They have many top tour golf balls like the famous Pro V1s from Titleist . These are a trusted favorite for many of us. If you want distance balls, look at Srixon’s Soft Feel . They can help you get the range you’re looking for. Finally, if you want balls that don’t spin too much, check out Bridgestone e6 .

You’ll find all types of balls, from simple 2-piece balls and more complex multi-layered ones. Plus, you can choose between different outer layers like surlyn or urethane. So, there’s something for every golfer.

There are also plenty of options for women, and there are personalized options for most major brands.

jordan golf shoes pga tour superstore review

The PGA TOUR Superstore has over 300 results for shoes for men and women. The Nike Jordan ADG 4 Golf Shoe is one of their top options at the moment and has the classic Jordan style.

You can find other golf shoes from big brands like FootJoy, Nike, G/FORE, Adidas, Under Armour, and Skechers.

If you’re looking for a deal, they have a sale category where shoes from these top brands are up to 40% off! And guess what? You can even shop the gear your favorite golf players use ! So, if you want to wear the shoes of Scottie Scheffler or the shirts of Rickie Fowler , you can find them here.

pga tour superstore polo

At the PGATSS, you won’t run out of choices for golf clothes. They have a big collection with over 2,000 items for both men and women. Looking for shorts or pants? They have inseams clearly labeled on the images as you browse.

They also have shirts, pants, jackets, sweaters, hats, belts, socks, and cool sunglasses. Some big names are there too, like PGA TOUR Apparel, Adidas, TravisMathew, Nike, FootJoy, Polo Ralph Lauren, Bad Birdie, and even Barstool Sports.

If you’re curious about what’s fresh in the store, check out the New Arrivals section. There are also deals in the sale section and special tournament gear . And just like the shoes, you can shop for clothes worn by famous golfers.

Coupons for the PGA TOUR Superstore are available on various media platforms, including Los Angeles Times and Golf Monthly. You can also find PGA TOUR Superstore promo codes on sites like Simply Codes.

Yes, the PGA TOUR Superstore does have a playability guarantee allowing you to return your clubs within 90 days from the date of purchase. It is called a Performance Guarantee by the retailer, and they provide a store credit for the complete value of the purchase price.

No, Home Depot does not own the PGA Superstore. It is owned by the Blank Family of Businesses, started by Home Depot co-founder Arthur M. Blank. Home Depot does not own the PGA Superstore despite the personal connection to the companies.

According to the PGA Superstore Employee CEO Dick Sullivan, the employees do not make commissions. He revealed this in an interview with Golf WRX , where he discussed the model behind the significant growth of the company.

Yes, PGA TOUR Superstore actively contributes to charity. They have partnered with First Tee , a youth development organization, to invest in the next generation of golfers. Through this partnership, the PGA TOUR Superstore and the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation have committed $9.5 million to First Tee initiatives, including the Leadership Summit, which empowers and educates young golfers on leadership concepts. This dedication showcases the store’s commitment to giving back to the community and promoting the sport’s future.

After looking at the top 7 reasons golfers shop at PGA TOUR Superstore for equipment, I have to say I am impressed with the company. They stock an abundance of golf equipment for every price point and offer a welcoming environment to test equipment and work on your swing.

It is truly a one-stop shop for all your golfing needs and features more than just equipment. Several outlets offer professional fitting, regripping, golf club repair services, clinics, and private lessons.

I would like to see more stores carrying the Practice+Play Bays to expose amateurs to the advantage of golf shot analysis. However, I understand the technology is pricey, and the rollout to every store will take time.

Overall, I am impressed with what the PGA TOUR Superstore  is doing. I would definitely recommend visiting a brick-and-mortar store for the ultimate golfing experience.

Michael Malewicz

I wanted to leave a review for the outstanding repair technician, Michael Malewicz. He was honest with me about a service possibly damaging my clubs and I can't thank him enough. It's rare to meet people like Michael and his small gesture meant a lot. He should be celebrated for the way he handles himself and represents the company.

I ordered a wedge from PGA Superstore and they said 7 to 10 business days. They deducted the money on April 16 for confirmed order on April 15. I had to call on April 29 as no communication from PGA. They now state May 13 for ship date. Not only will I not be home the week of 13th, I will not have the club for the trip. The risk of the club delivered with no one home for a week is not good. False advertising and promises from PGA Superstore. Customer Service offered no answers or solutions. Go to TGW for better customer service and results

Really disappointed at the service from PGA Superstore. I ordered a putter over the weekend and paid for the upgraded shipping (3-5 days) to receive it by this weekend. I received the confirmation and they charged my card. Did not receive shipment confirmation so called today (Wednesday). Was told that the club was being shipped directly from Taylor Made and that always takes longer. They could send an email today but it would take up to 72 just to get an estimated ship date from TM. Horrible communication from PGA Superstore and actually deceptive to say it would take 3-5 days to get it when actuality it is 3-5 days from whenever it ships.

PGA Tour Superstore Golf and More,

PGA Tour Superstore Golf and More, If you play pickleball in Charlotte and love looking great on the court, you must shop at the PGA Superstore. I always find great skirts, tops, and shoes from top-quality brands. Destiny is so sweet and kind, ensuring I find what I need and more. Lee is pretty great, too. As a pickleball instructor, it is nice to have a place to send my students to try on shoes and check out apparel. I hope that you all start carrying more paddles. See you again soon- I can't wait to wear my new Pickleball Sweater at JCC Pickleball Social. And yes, to my friends in the Golf department, I am not opposed to getting my driver out to hit the links in 2024. Love- Allycia

The Right Way to Fit a New Set of Irons

Today I spent about 45 minutes with Gene at the 75 and Plano pkwy store. I have worked with Gene on and off for over the last 5 years and truly admire his knowledge and willingness to work with mid to high handy cap golfers like me. Generally, I shoot in the mid-nineties due to 2 or 3 bad holes. LOL His entire focus is on improving my golf game and finding what club works the best for me. As in the past Gene went through his basic Q & A to determine what clubs would work the best based on my swing and characteristics. After evaluating my swing, he recommended 3 different clubs that could produce better ball strikes and reducing my score. It didn't take long for us to discover which club was the best fit, which I ended up buying. I truly appreciate the PGA store for having pros like Gene and others to help with the tough decisions.

Wow, what an experience!

Wow! What a refreshing experience. Corporate/Big Box stores, please take note of the PGA Golf Superstore's business model. While the PGA Golf Superstore is a corporate company, the minute you want in, you do not get that feeling. It is evident that the store is about established long-lasting relationships with their customers, hence my reason to write such a review. The staff is warm, friendly, inviting, knowledgeable, accommodating, willing to educate and explain products, and makes customers feel like family. Needless to say, the PGA Golf Superstore has certainly exceeded expectations. I am now a loyal customer.

I shop on a regular basis at your store and have seen a huge difference in customer service. Very unfriendly to a point of rudeness. I recently made a purchase and wasn’t even thanked. I am going to take my business to Golf Galaxy from now on. I owned my own business for thirty years and always stressed to my employees that They greet customers with a smile and make them feel welcomed or they will go somewhere else. That is what I will be doing.

PGA superstore deserves a zero or below! My son paid over $1,300 for a set of clubs and grips. We paid for faster delivery. When we received the order, they sent the wrong clubs and not all the grips were what we ordered. The entire order was wrong. Contacted the customer service and they were supposed to overnight the correct grips and a return ticket to send clubs back....never received the correct grips and now they won't respond to my emails. They are Totally avoiding me....DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY FOR SOMETHING YOU DIDN'T ORDER THEN THEY DON'T FIX IT!

Poor experience

I purchased a Cobra AEROJET LS 50TH ANNIVERSARY DRIVER. It did not come with the torque wrench or customization guide like it was supposed to. Reached out to their customer service who was of no help. Cobra wouldn't send me one either since I didn't purchase directly from them.

I love the golf clothes here but honesty is an issue

I love the golf clothes here. They have a REALLY good selection. Their honesty and integrity leaves alot to be desired, though. There are things on the 65% rack--many of the same kind--and they acknowledge that yes, they're 65% off. But yet the price on the tag is not 65% off the beginning price. Instead of just fixing this, they tried to tell me the 65% is based on some unknown number that corporate calculates, that is not on the tag. What??? After numerous attempts to fix this, it still inexplicably was not rectified. I tried calling customer service, who referred me back to the store. I tried calling the corporate office, and they're more insulated than the IRS--you get a recording and it is IMPOSSIBLE to find a good number or a real person. Wondering how this company stays in business.

Their customer service is worse than…

Their customer service is worse than terrible- it’s non-existent. I am trying to return a pair of shorts which I ordered online. Filled out the form on the online returns site. When I hit submit, message came up saying it was not possible to do at this time, please call. I called the number, several times. No answer. I then wrote the customer service email. It was returned as Failed: permanent error. I’m astonished. Plus, the shorts are a terrible quality. Don’t buy online from them! Nancy D

Online purchasing here is terrible...avoid

They took my order online and it sat in 'processing'. I tried emailing customer service and got NO REPLY. SHAME! Today, by phone, they did immediately begin processing my cancellation. (I went directly to Foot Joy and bought the product.) Advise: Avoid PGA TOUR Superstore Online.

AVOID THIS SITE!!

I bought and paid for 4dz Callaway balls on Sep 20th and they were allegedly delievered Oct 10th by a courier called Sprinter, who must be in on the scam?! On their track&trace Sprinter claims the parcel is delivered, but no trace of it here and no delivery note either. Not able to reach the courier or the ‘Super’store customer service to find out what happened to my parcel. AVOID THIS SITE, it’s a hoax!! S.R. Hansen, Denmark

Very bad service

Ordered a full set of left handed lady clubs to the store at PGA Blvd. Express delivery, because we are in Florida on holidays. After one week I went to the store to check. They told me I have to wait and they will send me an e-mail when the clubs arrive. After two weeks I still hear nothing, so I went back to the store. Now they were telling me, that this brand doesn’t make left handed clubs! This company has a very lousy service and is not good organized. Below zero points.

I ordered a NEW driver online.

I ordered a NEW driver online. I received a used DEMO driver minus the head cover. This was not something a typical employee would decide on their own. Is this policy? Customer service was not helpful and made it clear they wanted me to go away. The one upside was the sent me a return shipping label.

PGA Tour Superstore Promo Code

So I have a $100 gift card I got for Christmas for the PGA Superstore and I've been holding onto it waiting for a coupon code. I get an email this AM with a promotion code of $50 off $250 and guess what, it's applies to basically nothing. I was set on getting the new Nike Covert driver and they won't take it. Yet when Golfsmith runs a promo code, they DO take codes for new Nike products. Wish I never got a gift card to this place.

Received it as well. Tennis season starts in a couple weeks and I need to pick up some new shoes. Received this and thought "cool" until I read the fine print. Now I have used these on used equipment in the past so if there is something there "used" you want, PGASS has honored it for brands listed.

Sounds par for the course. I get the PGASS and Golfsmith emails and delete them unread almost every time. "Coupon only valid for off-brand tees that will break when you push then into the grass."

Nike is not listed in the fine print. Just your typical PING, Titelist, Callaway, etc. But they do state other exclusions may apply. I just don't understand why Golfsmith will take $50 off the new Nike Covert line and this place doesn't.

Best brick and mortar golf store in DFW IMO.

I was just in the PGASS in Paramus, NJ, and they are having Nike Week. One promo there is $50 off Covert 2.0 Drivers. Plus $30 off fairways and $20 of hybrids. Maybe you can call the store.

Discount Dans had the Covert Tour 2.0 for $339.99. I wonder if they would've matched that. Doubt it.

Just called. It's a $50 rebate on the Covert driver? And it can only be received in-store.

Golfsmith is horrible. They send you mass marketing emails all the time with $ off bait, but it applies to nothing basically.

Yet when Golfsmith runs a promo code, they DO take codes for new Nike products. Wish I never got a gift card to this place. PGASS by me is very easy to work with. Bought used clubs off the rack and negotiated with them and even presented a competitor 50 off 250 coupon. I was also in there yesterday and they price matched the Nike 20xi balls at 14.97 plus an extra 10% off to beat them. Overall, much rather shop their then other places. But, I do find better deals on clothes at Golf Galaxy. I have also used competitor gift cards at their stores as well. Just seems like the workers like working at the two stores around my area. Where as the Golfsmith by me seems like everyone in their hates their lives.

Pretty simple actually. PGASS is abiding by its agreement with Nike by not discounting new product; Golfsmith is violating the agreement, which is exactly why PGASS lost its ability to carry Titleist products for a year a few years ago. Sounds like they learned a lesson. You guys blame the wrong people. Manufacturers are the ones who put most limitations on what retail stores may or may not discount.

Golf Galaxy vs PGA Superstore: What’s the Difference?

When you look at the price of golf clubs and other equipment, it becomes paramount to ensure you’re getting the right one.

Because, if your tool is not the right fitting, you will not only waste money but can also injure yourself while playing.

No wonder there are dozens of club-fitting stores; more keeps opening up.

The most popular right now seem to be Golf Galaxy, PGA Superstore, Club Champion, etc. Unfortunately, fitting into these clubs can sometimes be hit or miss.

And while they have different names, they all look to be similar. So, how can you differentiate?

By considering the experience of other golfers who have gone there to fit as well as the pricing model for each.

In this article, we’ll be looking at and comparing both PGA Superstore and Golf Galaxy. Keep reading.

Golf Galaxy vs PGA Superstore: Which is Better?

Golf Galaxy vs PGA Superstore

The truth is that the experience of each golf at each fitting store may differ. While some prefer GG over PGASS, others find the opposite to be true.

The most important is the employee that fits you.

If you meet the right employee, both can work for you. Unfortunately, it can be the other way around too.

It can also depend on the location too since that can affect the tool available and ultimately the performance.

However, that doesn’t mean there can’t be one that is universally better than the other. Fortunately, that’s what this article aims to give you.

To let you know what most people feel more comfortable with between the two.

Pricing Model

In terms of pricing, they are pretty similar. However, PGASS actually offers a free fitting while GG starts at around $100.

That means you will be able to try the clubs on a club monitor and see where you go from there.

Another service that PGASS also offer is Tour Van Experience where you work with a professional to try out different stock shafts until you find the right feel, look, and performance.

That makes them cheaper than GG, which would make sense for anyone looking at it from a pricing point of view.

Recognition & Miscellaneous Features

pga tour superstore lessons reddit

Golf Galaxy has a greater brand recognition than PGA Superstore in general.

PGA is reported to have more convenient customer support and also offers zip financing and international shipping policies which Golf Galaxy doesn’t.

PGA also doesn’t accept PayPal payments and modification of policies which Golf Galaxy gives the liberty to.

Both brands offer frequent discounts and promotions during holidays or festive sessions, one might watch out for those.

Locations to Fit

The main difference between Golf Galaxy and PGA Tour Superstore will be the number of locations they’re available in.

Golf Galaxy has 35 stores and PGA has 22, both brands are spread around the States – but they also have online stores.

This means you are more likely to come across a Golf Galaxy store than a PGA Superstore, and Golf Galaxy probably has more exposure and a higher chance of risk than PGA.

The retail brands also offer fitting services at their various locations but Golf Galaxy also gives you the option of scheduling an online session.

Service Variety

PGA Superstore provides fewer fitting services than Golf Galaxy: putter, golf ball, wedge, iron, and driver fitting, and an upgraded fitting experience via the PGA Tour Superstore studio.

Golf Galaxy has a more flexible range of choices which includes the services offered by PGA Superstore and a bit more: hybrid analysis, shaft fitting, grip fitting analysis, club comparison, and a virtual club advisor.

Club Champion vs Big Box Stores

The advantage of Club Champion is that their testing option is limitless, compared to both Golf Galaxy and PGA Superstore and other big box stores.

These stores are only able to use the shaft options that are available to them through the manufacturer.

And the branches vary in what is available to them.

The only advantage is that they are cheaper than Club Champion. So, if you can’t afford the expensive club fitting, then you can go with PGA Superstore.

At least, they have more goodwill than their counterpart.

Final Thoughts on GG and PGASS

The general thought of both box stores is that their services are generally poor.

A lot of golfers who have gone fitting for both GG and PGASS have complained of extremely poor fitting, which eventually affects their club pricing.

Most recommend Club Champion, so if you have one in your location, you may want to consider that.

  1. PGA Tour Superstore Lessons Any Good? : r/golf

All in all, I think that it's a great value for the price - especially when compared to things like group lessons. I'm 32 nad tried to play golf in college. Outside of putting, I was rough. I already jumped got my swing speed from something like 65 to touching 100 a few times - mostly credit to the PGA tour lessons and practicing.

PGA Superstore lessons are similar to GolfTec in the fact that they're owned by larger groups. 3. Lessons at PGA Tour Superstores question : r/golf

I tried 4 or 5 different professionals before ending up at the PGA store, and the PGA Superstore lessons were the most beneficial to me. I'm sure each teacher is different, and I'm pretty sure Steve moved on, but the teacher named Will at the PGA scottsdale superstore was certainly the most advanced teacher there.

  4. PGA Superstore Lessons

  5. Review

Haven't used it that long, so will update this thread as I get more of a feel for the plan. For $150, you get unlimited 30 minute sessions at the indoor stalls in the PGA Superstore. The stalls are reasonably sized, I'd guess about the size of a small elongated private house garage.
