About the Non-Immigrant O Visa in Thailand, Extensions and Requirements

Of all the long-term visas available, the Non O Visa for Thailand, often referred to as the Thailand Non-Immigrant O Visa, is probably the most frequently applied. Non Immigrant O Visa can be applied under various reasons. It can be obtained at the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate before traveling to Thailand or it can be obtained at a local Immigration office inside Thailand depending on what reasons you are applying Non Immigrant O Visa for. If you are a passport holder of one of the 63 countries that can enter Thailand with Exempt Visa Stamp, Applying for a Non Immigrant O Visa inside Thailand is relatively straightforward as long as you meet the requirements of Non Immigrant O Visa. As the process can take up to 3 to 4 weeks to be completed, you will need to apply almost immediately if you have entered the country using Exempt Visa stamp. The application would need to be submitted to your nearest Thai Immigration Department. Please be aware entering Thailand on Exempt Visa stamp or Visa on Arrival are two different things. Only 63 countries can enter Thailand on an Exempt Visa Stamp can apply for a Non Immigrant O Visa inside Thailand. If you have overstayed since your arrival even for a single day, you are not allowed to submit an application for this type of Visa at Thai Immigration department.

General rules regarding the Non Immigrant O Visa Thailand

Non Immigrant O Visa is designed to allow the holder to stay in Thailand for an extended period. This type of visa can be obtained at the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate in your home country, a country neighboring Thailand or inside Thailand at a local Immigration department. The validity of a Non Immigrant O Single Entry Visa is for 90 days which is extendable yearly at the local Immigration department Non Immigrant O Visa with various reasons will require slightly different documentation. For example, if your reason to apply for a Non Immigrant O Visa is based on having a Thai Spouse, you will require to submit the proof of relationship, bank requirements, documents from your Thai Spouse and etc. if the reason is based on Retirement, you have to be minimum 50 years of age and need to provide evidence of funds. It should be noted that you must go through the list of requirements before applying for a Non Immigrant O Visa. Therefore, care should be taken to ensure that each page is signed.

Is a 12 month Multiple Entry Non Immigrant O Visa available from outside the Kingdom?

The Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate can issue you a Non Immigrant O Multiple Entry Visa for 12 months, although their issuance is becoming less frequent. If you are granted a Non Immigrant O Multiple Entry Visa for 12 months, it will commence as soon as you enter Thailand. The holder will be permitted to stay in Thailand up to 3 months and holder need to do a border run in order to utilize another entry. Non Immigrant O Multiple Entry Visa holders don’t need to do reporting every 90 days as you are not in kingdom for exceeding 90 days.

If you don’t wish to leave the country, you can extend your stay for up to 1 year but you will also have to make sure you obtain a Multiple Re-entry permit which will allow you to fly in and out of Thailand without getting your stay VOID. If you don’t fly out of Thailand, you don’t need a re-entry permit but you will have to notify your address at the Immigration every 90 days.

It is advised frequent flyers check new stamp carefully to ensure you have received the correct stamp, as errors can’t be rectified after the event and will effectively invalidate your visa going forward.

What general documents are required for a Visa Non Immigrant O Thailand?

First of all, it depends on the reason you apply for a Non Immigrant O Visa, Most of the documents required for this type of visa are the same and include:

• A completed application form can be submitted online or in-person at the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate. It should be noted that different consulates and embassies may have different application forms, so it is essential that you complete the correct version. All documents should include your name as it appears in your passport
• A valid passport that has a minimum of six months remaining and two blank pages
• All the supporting documents required for your type of Thai Non Immigrant O Visa (see below)

NB: The Royal Thai Embassy can reserve the right to request any other documentation that they may feel relevant to your application for a Thailand Non Immigrant O Visa.

The different types of Non O Visa for Thailand

There are several types of Visa Non Immigrant O Thailand, but at Thai Visa Expert, we predominantly focus on three types, the standard “O” visa, which, for example, is designed for visiting Thai Family, Retirement, visiting relatives. Thai Family for those who are married to a Thai or have a Thai Child but not married, Retirement for those who are 50 years of age or above, visiting relative for those who are working in Thailand with a Work Visa along with the Work Permit. Their family can visit the holder as dependents.  The  “O-A” Thai Retirement Visa  for those aged 50 years or over or the “O-X” 10 Year  Thai Retirement Visa  which is available to nationals of specific countries and has stricter requirements to the “O-A” Visa.

Non Immigrant O Visa (Thai Spouse or Thai Child)

For this type of visa you can obtain it at the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate before traveling to Thailand but if you have entered Thailand on a Tourist Visa or at least with Exempt Visa stamp, you can apply at the local Thai Immigration department inside Thailand. You will have to show proof of relationship along with evidence of sufficient funds in Thai Bank account but if you find yourself unable to set up a Thai Bank account, you can get in touch with us and we can assist you in setting up a Thai Bank account. We can also assist you to make sure you have all the required documents in order to ensure the smooth proceedings. Non Immigrant O (Thai Spouse) Visa can be extended yearly a month before its expiry. 

If you have a Thai Child but not married to your child’s mother, you can obtain a Non Immigrant O Visa based on having a Thai Child. You must be stated as a father on your child’s birth certificate and you need evidence of sufficient funds in Thai bank account and the requirements are almost similar to a Non Immigrant O based on Thai Spouse, it is just child’s birth certificate replaces Thai Marriage Registration. You can add a Multiple Re-entry Permit to your Non Immigrant O (Thai Spouse/Thai Child) Visa which will allow you to fly in and out of Thailand as many times as you want. 

To apply for this visa, you will need to following documentation:

• Proof of the relationship such as a marriage certificate, birth certificate 
• A Copy of Thai ID Card and House Registration (Tabian Baan)
• Notification of your address in Thailand such as Receipt of TM 30 
• Proof that you have the financial means to support yourself and your Thai family

Non Immigrant O Visa (Retirement)

Many retirees wish to stay in Thailand for long term without having to do border runs and visa runs, in which case they can apply for a Non Immigrant O (Retirement) Single Entry Visa before arriving in Thailand or inside Thailand even if you have entered Thailand on a Tourist Visa or at least with Exempt Visa stamp. The visa holder will often apply for  Visa extension  based on Retirement when in the Kingdom, which will enable them to stay for longer (see below). However, for this initial application, you will need the following documents:

• Proof that you are 50 years or older (your passport will suffice)
• Sufficient funds in your Thai Bank account not less than 800,000 THB. 
• Notification of Residence in Thailand (TM 30 Receipt)

Thailand Non Immigrant O Visa (Voluntary Work)

Many people wish to work voluntarily in Thailand, However, you still require to obtain correct paperwork to supply at the time of the application, including:

• A signed Letter of Invitation from an “authorized person” along with a copy of their passport or Thai ID card
• A copy of the Charity, Association or NGO’s registration
• Proof that you have the financial means to support yourself for the duration of the visa WITHOUT doing paid work in Thailand
• Notification of residence TM 30 reciept

Non Immigrant O-A Visa Retirement

Non Immigrant O-A Retirement Visa is not the same as Non Immigrant O Retirement Visa. Some may think Non Immigrant O-A Retirement Visa is better than Non Immigrant O Retirement Visa but that is not how it looks. We highly recommend to get a Non Immigrant O (Retirement) Visa as it is one of the suitable visa for Retirees. First of all, it doesn’t require you have a Health Insurance,

If you have a Single Entry  Non Immigrant Visa Thailand (Retirement)  this can be extended in Thailand without having to do border runs or visa runs. Non Immigrant O (Retirement) Visa can be obtained both at the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate prior to traveling to Thailand or at the Thai Immigration department even if you have entered Thailand on a Tourist visa or Exempt Visa stamp. 

To apply for a Thai Non Immigrant O  Visa Extension , you will need the following:

• Your original passport with at least 1 full blank page along with copies which must be signed
• Notification of Residency like TM 30 along with financial requirements must be satisfied, which include meeting one of the following:
• Have at least THB800, 000 held in a Thai saving or fixed deposit account for a designated period of time, which is currently three months before the application. For a  Thailand Retirement Visa  Renewal, this is again three months before the application, but also it must be held for three months after. A letter and copies of your bank book will be required to confirm that this is the case
• Alternatively, if you have a monthly income of not less than THB65,000 per month, this would be acceptable. Please note, most embassies are now unwilling to issue letters guaranteeing that you receive this level of income in your “home” country, so you may wish to look at alternative methods of proving this to be the case. A copy of an entire year’s bank statement showing the monies going into your account regularly should suffice.  It is also essential to point out that a holder of a Thai Retirement Visa is NOT permitted to work in the country.  It is also possible to have a combination of savings held in a Thai bank account and an incoming with the total being not less than THB800,000 per annum with again proof being required
• Health insurance valid for the duration of the visa with a minimum of THB40,000 inpatient cover and THB400,000 inpatient cover. This requirements doesn’t apply for Non Immigrant O (Retirement) Visa or the Extension on Non Immigrant O (Retirement) Visa.

Non Immigrant O-X – 10 Year Retirement Visa

The Non Immigrant Visa –  Retirement  (O-X) is suitable for those aged 50 or over who wish to stay in Thailand (without working) long-term. The visa is effectively two five year visas and is only available to passport holders from the following countries: Japan, Australia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. All of the above documentation is required, although the financial requirements are:

• The applicant must have a minimum of THB3 million in a Thai savings or fixed deposit account OR at least THB1.8 million in a Thai savings or fixed deposit account and an income of THB1.2 million or more per annum
• The holder must retain a balance of THB1.5 million for the duration of the visa
• For this Thai Non Immigrant O Visa extension, all requirements remain the same.

O-A Long-Stay Visa Guide: Benefits, Requirements, Reporting

The O-A visa is issued to those over 50 years old and provides a long-stay option in Thailand. It's often referred to as a “retirement visa”.

This visa is applied for in your home country, at a local Thai embassy or consulate. The application can usually be done by mail and takes a minimum of 15 days to process.

In this post, I'll run through the benefits of the visa and the requirements you need to meet to be approved.

O-A Visa Benefits

The visa is active from the date of issue. You are granted a 1-year stay from the date of entry to Thailand.

This is a multiple entry visa. What that means is: you can leave Thailand and re-enter as and when you please, within the validity of the visa.

The great thing about the O-A visa is that the multiple entry aspect allows a further one year stay on any entry, so if you exit and re-enter just before the visa expires you get another one year's stay.

When your visa has expired and your permitted stay inside the country is coming to an end, you can extend the visa inside Thailand, at an immigration office. A little more about that later on.

O-A Visa Required Documents

There's a fair bit of documentation to get together. Here's what you will need to submit to your local Thai embassy or consulate.

• Your passport and a copy of your passport. Your passport must have validity of at least 18 months and have at least one empty page.
• The visa completed application form (in black or blue ink).
• A medical certificate (notarized) showing no prohibitive diseases in accordance with the Ministerial Regulation No.14(B.E. 2535).
• Three passport-size photographs (2″x2″). Photographs must have a lightly color background with a full-face view of the person with no hat or dark glasses. Photos must be no more than 6 months old.
• Bank statement showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 800,000 Baht, or an income certificate (original not a copy) with a monthly income of not less than 65,000 Baht, or a deposit account plus a monthly income totaling not less than 800,000 Baht. Submitting a bank statement requires a letter of guarantee from the bank (original not a copy).
• A letter of verification from the relevant authority in your country to show that you have no criminal record. Internet documents are not accepted.
• A copy of your airline tickets.
• The required health insurance (as discussed below)

O-A Health Insurance Requirement

The O-A visa has a mandatory health insurance requirement. The policy must cover a minimum 3 million Baht, or the equivalent if the policy is issued outside of Thailand.

The total must cover inpatient services.

The policy can be obtained from a Thai or foreign insurance company, and must state that you are medically insured for the period, with the aforementioned coverage.

If you use a foreign insurance company, you will need to provide the original policy and two copies. You will also need to get the insurance company to fill out and stamp a form, which can be seen here .

If you use a Thai company, you will only have to provide the two copies.

The easiest option is to take out your insurance with a reputable Thai company, although one with English-speaking customer service is highly preferable.

O-A for Your Spouse

If you have a spouse over the age of 50, she/he can apply for an O-A visa too.

If your spouse is younger than 50, he or she can apply for temporary stay under the Category ‘O’ visa. He or she will need to provide your marriage certificate as evidence.

90-Day Reporting

All long stay visas come with a 90-day reporting requirement, which involves producing a number of documents for immigration.

You can report in person, by mail and online. In person is easiest, but when working, the online system is convenient, particularly if you live far from an immigration office.

The reporting requires the following documents:

• Notification form (TM47)
• Copy of passport info page (with photo, name, passport number, etc.)
• Copy of current visa
• Copy of latest entry stamp
• Copy of latest visa extension
• Copy of departure card (TM6)
• Copy of previous 90-day slip (if any)

Extending Your Stay Inside Thailand

As mentioned previously, you can extend your stay in Thailand beyond the validity of your visa. But don't wait for your visa to run out to do this. Instead, start the process 30 days beforehand.

This extension requires you to prove an income of 65k Baht per month income by way of a confirmation of income letter from your embassy, or 800k in a local Thai bank account 3 months prior to the application. The latter requires a confirmation letter from the bank and a copy of your bank passbook.

You will also need to fill out a TM7 (extension of stay form).

At this point it is worth noting that you can avoid applying for an O-A visa in your home country and instead obtain a long stay by doing this exact extension process in Thailand.

So instead of applying for an O-A Visa, you would apply for a Non Immigrant O Visa at your local Thai embassy or consulate instead.

The Non Immigrant O Visa gives you a 90-day stay on arrival. Before this expires inside Thailand (up to 30 days), you can do the one year extension at an immigration office.

So if you'd rather avoid applying for the O-A visa in your home country and having to provide the medical certificate, criminal record check, and the insurance requirement, you can take this alternative route.

The route a person takes to obtaining a long stay usually depends on the timeframe they are working with and how quickly they want to get to Thailand.

Applying for an O-A visa in your home country does have its benefits: You get stamped in for a year as soon as you enter, and you can exit and re-enter just before your visa expires and get stamped in for another year.

Some people would rather just have everything sorted before they leave and not have to think about doing an extension of stay in Thailand, whereas others may want to avoid that criminal record check (ahem).

Issuing and Changing Type of Visa

(Update : Feb 2022)

1. FOR WORKING IN A COMPANY OR LIMITED PARTNERSHIP (NON-B)

2. for working as teacher (non-b), 3. for education (non-ed), 4. for fulfilling the duty or responsibility as an immediate family member of foreigner who is working in a company or limited partnership (non-o), 5. for fulfilling the duty or responsibility as an immediate family member of foreigner working as teacher in thailand (non-o), 6. for providing support to or being a dependant of a thai citizen (spouse visa) or person having residency in thailand (non-o), 7. to provide or receive sponsorship from a thai national (children of thai nationality) (non-o), 8. for providing support to or being a dependant of a person who having residency in thailand (non-o), 9. for retirement purposes – 50 years old (non-o), 10. for working in the foundation (non-o), 11. for sport coach (non-o), 12. for monk, nun, priest studying buddhism or performing religious activities in thailand (non-r), 13. for the education of priests (non-ed), 14. for investment not less than baht 10,000,000 (non-b), 15. for accompanying a person who fulfills his or her diplomatic or consular duty/ government duty/ performing media duties/ educational duty/ scientific research duty/ expert duty in thailand (non-o), 16. for official government duties (non-f), 17. for performing media duties (non-m), 18. for working as researcher (non-rs), 19. for working as football player (non-b), 20. for a special long-term stay, non “ o–x ” is valid for a period of 5 years per visa, 21. the list of documents for foreigners [applicants] of the designated countries.

4. ระบบจะแจ้งเตือนวันครบกำหนดการแจ้งครั้งถัดไป ล่วงหน้า 15 วัน ผ่านทาง Email ที่แจ้งไว้ในขั้นตอนการลงทะเบียนสมัคร

5. คนต่างด้าวจะไม่สามารถแจ้งรายงานตัว 90 วันผ่านระบบออนไลน์ได้ ในกรณีดังต่อไปนี้

– กรณีมีการเปลี่ยนหนังสือเดินทางเล่มใหม่

โดยต้องมาแจ้งกับเจ้าหน้าที่ตรวจคนเข้าเมืองตามเขตพื้นที่ที่คนต่างด้าวพักอาศัย ทั้งนี้คนต่างด้าวจะแจ้งด้วยตนเอง หรือมอบหมายให้ผู้อื่นไปแจ้งแทนก็ได้ หลังจากนั้นจะสามารถยื่นรายงานตัว 90 วัน ผ่านระบบออนไลน์ได้ตามกำหนดนัดรายงานตัวครั้งต่อไป

1. Procedure for Notification of residence for more than 90 days via the internet can be report 15 days in advance.

2. The system will send a response via registered email and your application(s) will be mark as “Pending” approval status.

3. When the officer has considered your application, the result will be send via the registered email address within 3 days. You can check the status via the internet by yourself  by clicking on the menu “Check the status of application ”

4. 15 days in advance the system will notify you of the next due date for notification of residence through the registered email address.

5. The online service do NOT support if:

– There have been a change of new passport.

The foreigner have to make the notification in person or authorizes another person to make the notification at the immigration office located in the locality in which the foreigner have taken residence. After that, the foreigner can make the next 90 days notification by online service.

Convert thailand visa exempt arrival to non-immigrant visa.

If you arrive in Thailand via the visa exempt option that’s available to many Western passport holders, you have the option to convert this to a Non-Immigrant “O” Visa if you meet the criteria. If you’re over 50 and meet the income requirements, this could be a good option if you want to stay in Thailand long-term. I arrived from Jakarta using the visa exempt option and was given a stamp for a 30-day stay. As I want to stay in Thailand long-term, I needed to convert this to a Non-Immigrant “O” Visa  which allows a 90-day stay, and also extend that permission to stay for a further 12 months. The same process applies if you arrive on a  Tourist Visa .  So this is a 2-step process for me. Step 1 – get a Non-Immigrant Visa ; Step 2 – apply for permission to extend my stay in Thailand. This post is about Step 1 (see Apply For Retirement Visa ).

How To Get A Non-Immigrant Visa

If you’re over 50 and meet the income requirements, you can apply for a Non-Immigrant “O” Visa. This is the process you need to follow:

The income requirement states that you must have 800,000 baht ($26,700) in a bank account in Thailand or have 65,000 baht ($2,150) per month in income from a source such a pension.

If you have the 800,000 baht in a bank account, you’ll need to  update your bank book on the day you go to the immigration office, as you need to show that the money is still in the account. You also need a letter from your bank confirming the amount you have in your account. Many banks charge around 100 baht ($3.35) for this letter. You’ll also need a second letter from the bank showing that the money in your account was transferred from outside Thailand. It’s important that the account and letters are in your own name (no joint names) and that these are dated the same day as your application. So get the letters from your bank in the morning and then go to the immigration office. You’ll also need photocopies of all the pages from your bank book.

If you don’t have the money in the bank, but have the equivalent in income, you’ll need to get a letter from your Embassy confirming this.

You can also use a combination of the above, as long as it adds up to a total of 800,000 baht. For example, 300,000 baht in a savings account and 500,000 baht in annual income. If you’re using this option, then you’ll need letters from both your bank and Embassy.

Once you have the above, complete form TM87 (if you arrived visa exempt) or TM86 (if you arrived on a tourist visa) and take this to your local immigration office. You’ll also need copies of your passport, including the pages that show your entry stamp, visa and arrival/departure card, a passport photo taken in the last six months, and the fee of 2,000 baht ($67).

Note : Not all immigration offices in Thailand will convert a tourist visa. If you have problems you can get the conversion done at the Bangkok office.

The immigration officer will check that everything is in order, and if it is, they’ll give you a receipt with a date to return to pick up your visa. This is usually two weeks later. You’ll then get your 90-day stamp and  Non-Immigrant “O” Visa put into your passport. This will allow you to stay in the country for 90 days from the date of your application.

All the above needs to be done when you have at least 15 days stay left in the country. Get this done as soon as possible. If you leave it until the last minute and encounter any problems, you’ll have to leave the country, return, and start the process again.

How To Extend Your Permission To Stay

Once you have your Non-immigrant “O” Visa , you then need to apply for permission to extend your stay based on retirement. This needs to be done during the last 30 days of your 90-day stay. I will write a post about this step in a couple of months time, once I’ve completed the process.

Bangkok Immigration Office

The Bangkok Immigration office is located at Chaeng Wattana Soi 7. From central Bangkok, the easiest way to get there is to take the BTS to Mo Chit, take exit 1, and get a taxi. Ask to be taken to Soon Ratchagan, Chaeng Wattana Soi Jed. Soon Ratchagan is the Thai for Government Complex, and all taxi drivers will know where it is. The taxi should cost around 100-110 baht to get there, and 120-140 baht to get back (a slightly longer route due to the one-way system).

In case you have only on arrival visa or tourist visa (TR), you can convert to Non-Immigrant Visa for the propose of working, stay with Thai wife, study or retire in Thailand. You can convert it at the Head office of Immigration Office in Bangkok. Upon you submit the application, you must stay in Thailand for 15 days in order to wait for the approval. After that, the Immigration office will stamp “Non-Immigrant” Visa for you 90 days. And you need to extent before its expiration.

Useful particulars for covert visa inside Thailand

• Your remaining visa must longer than 15 days.
• You cannot leave Thailand while you wait the result.
• You must obtain Re-Entry Permit upon you get the visa before you leave the country.
• You can extension to one year visa before it expire.

Documents for 5-Year Non-Immigrant O-X Long Stay Visa Application

        Foreigners wishing to stay in Thailand for a long time with a 5-year Non-immigrant "O-X" visa, must prepare supporting documents for the application, and the remaining validity on their current visa must be more than 15 days. In case of overstay, an application is not allowed.

The supporting documents for the application are as follows:

1. TM.89 application form;

2. Copy of passport (validity of more than 15 days; in case of overstay, an application is not allowed);

3. One photograph size 4x6 cm or 2 inches;

4. Visa application fee 10,000 baht;

5. Financial documents (either 5.1 or 5.2):

5.1) Passbook and certificate of balance from a bank in Thailand: a copy of the passbook which shows fixed deposit balance of not less than 3,000,000 baht in a Thai commercial bank account located in Thailand; or

5.2) Passbook and certificate of balance from a bank in Thailand: a copy of the passbook which shows a fixed deposit balance of not less than 1,800,000 baht in a Thai commercial bank account located in Thailand and documents which show annual income of not less than 1,200,000 baht. 

6. Certificate of good conduct or police clearance certificate from the country of which the foreigner holds nationality, and if the foreigner has a permanent residence in another country, such documents are also required from the country in which the foreigner has permanent residence (certified by the Embassy of Foreigners in Thailand and Legal Affairs Division, the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand);

7. Thai health insurance policy (as specified by the OIC) with an insured amount in the case of OPD not less than 40,000 baht and in the case of IPD not less than 400,000 baht;

8. Medical certificate from the country where the application is submitted that shows that the applicant does not have any disease that is prohibited by the Ministerial Regulation No. 14, 1992, which includes:

• Tuberculosis;
• Elephantiasis;
• Drug addiction;
• Third phase of syphilis.

9. In the case of marriage, a marriage certificate is required along with the documents specified in items 1-8 (separately);

10. In the case of a child, a birth certificate/ adoption certification document is required (for legitimate children) along with the documents specified in item 7 (policy), items 1-4 and item 6;

11. If the documents specified in items 9-10 are in a foreign language, they must be translated into Thai or English and certified by the Embassy of Foreigners in Thailand and Legal Affairs Division, the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand;

12. Other relevant documents which show evidence of a house lease agreement or certificate from the landlord with a copy of house registration, his/her ID card and certified copy by the landlord or a sales and purchase agreement, house registration, a map of the house or condominium unit, and the receipt of house rent for the past 3 months. 

Important notes:

1. The applicant must proceed in person, sign, and certify every page of the documents for a quick and convenient process.

2. Please bring complete documents and submit all original documents to the competent officer.

3. The applicant must notify his/her status of residence according to Section 38 together with evidence of a residential notification.

4. One copy set of the documents (according to the list of documents No. 1, 2, 9, 10 and No. 12).

Non-Immigrant Visa Type “O” may be granted to applicants who meet one of the following requirements:

• Applicants who are lawfully married to a Thai citizen
• Dependents of a foreigner currently working or studying full-time in Thailand
• Volunteers or applicants who work for a non-governmental organization (NGO)

Types of Visa and Validity:

• Single-Entry: valid for 3 months from the date of issue. Visa holders may contact the Immigration Bureau of Thailand, after entering Thailand, for the extension of stay and re-entry permit.
• Multiple-Entry (only for the spouse of a Thai citizen): valid for 1 year from the date of issue.

Required Documents:

• Visa Application form(s) and photograph(s): Completed and signed Visa Application form and 2 recent photograph(s) (size 3.5×4.5 cm). Non-Indonesian applicants may be required to submit more than one set of application form. (See: Additional Requirements for Non-Indonesian Applicants )
• Passport (no less than 6 months validity for Single-Entry visa and no less than 1 year validity for Multiple-Entry visa)
• Copy of Marriage Certificate for spouse or Birth Certificate for children
• Copy of passport and ID card of the Thai spouse (All copies must be signed by the Thai spouse)
• Sponsorship letter from the Thai spouse
• Applicant’s bank statement showing at least THB 400,000 or equivalent in other currencies for the past two months
• Proofs of family relationship i.e. Copy of Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate
• Copy of passport and stay permit or visa of the foreigner currently working or studying in Thailand
• Copy of the work permit of the foreigner currently working in Thailand (if applicable)
• Letter of certification from the educational institution or employer in Thailand
• Letter of certification from the organization in Thailand indicating purpose of the volunteer/work programme, nature of the work, and exact period of stay in Thailand, coupled with a copy of ID card or passport of the authorized person who signed the letter.
• Letter of confirmation of the applicant’s participation in the voluntary activities in Thailand provided by the Thai authorities supervising such organization/foundation. Applicant’s name must be shown on the letter.
• Sponsorship letter from the organization in Indonesia (if applicable)
• Copy of the organization’s registration
• Summary of the organization’s profile
• Single-Entry Visa: IDR 1,120,000
• Multiple-Entry Visa: IDR 2,800,000

Consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents, or an interview with the applicant, as deemed necessary, without prior notice.

The Royal Thai Embassy reserves the right to refuse visa to applicant with insufficient documents or if the reasons given are not fully supported. The visa fee is non-refundable.
