Historic Cardiff, Wales is a city that built its wealth and reputation as a port city. History buffs in particular will love exploring the historic castles in the area, plucked straight from the pages of a fairy tale. For those that would rather connect to the culture and history of Cardiff and Wales through its art, there's no shortage of museums and other art centers located throughout the city. Pick up one of the Cardiff rental cars and bounce from museum to museum. Be sure to hit the open-air St. Fagans National History Museum, the National Museum Cardiff, and finally the Chapter Arts Centre, where you can enjoy a drink and a snack with your culture.
Recurring Festivals and Events
There's stuff to do year-round in Cardiff, but during the summer months, hardly a week goes by without a festival of some sort occurring. Brush up on a few choice phrases, then visit this uniquely Welsh festival. While in town for Tafwyl, be sure visit the Hijinx Unity Festival, also held in early July. Top airlines flying to cardiff.
The Flight crew didn’t serve us until about 1.5 hours into the flight because of turbulence but after it ended it was fine to move around. They served us water only and snacks and then NEVER, NOT ONE TIME came through to collect trash until right before landing about 1.5 hours later. There was absolutely no need for that. They crew was just standing around talking and visiting with each other and really never tried to see if we might want something besides water or even try to come pick up trash. This is VERY unusual for a Delta flight but it was not what I would have expected for a 4 hour flight.
The 1st class male crew member was very pleasant - the short female with round glasses , maybe in 50’s had no personality- never spoke when delivering my food, drink, & never smiled the whole trip! In fact looked annoyed when the boarding proses was happening- I would never hire this woman - unfriendly . Have never dealt with a crew member like her-
5-hour delay due to storms in Tanoa and airspace restricted by Miami traffic controllers.
A regional sized plane was used for a cross country flight with no overhead bin space. I had to "pink check" my laptop and my medications. I was NOT pleased!!!!
Absolutely nothing flight was cancelled and delayed for 2 days. Barely a heads up I want a full refund
The plane from SNA wouldn’t start after 5 tries. The team gave me an option of flying direct from LAX and giving me a Lyft ride there! Perfect!
Best airline! Always friendly and welcoming. Skyclub was great and loved the fast free wifi on board. I also love that you can pre-order your meal on the app!
Atlanta boarding crew at gate were filled with arrogance and were disrespectful. In flight crew showed indifference to the needs of passengers. This is about the flight from ATL to BDL.
The plane was FREEZING SEATS UNCOMFORTABLE Otherwise smooth Thank you
Boarding was chaotic. I didn’t finish dinner because I went to bed early. Breakfast omelet was overcooked and tasteless but croissant was better than usual. Plane was dirty—crumbs in every seam and lavatory was poorly maintained (paint peeling, etc.) and toilet paper had not been refreshed before takeoff. No cubby for storage in first and seat was narrow.
I thought KLM was the best airline but the Lima - Amsterdam was 1 hours late, the Brussels - Amsterdam was 2.30 hours late and the Amsterdam - Lima was 30 minutes late
Overall a good experience. We were disappointed when we had to check our carry on due to the plane being full. KLM hadn’t notified us and we had valuable items in the carry on but they still made us check it. Some of the food was great and some was mediocre. Crew is really kind and funny.
The flight itself it was great nice food the crew were very nice and helpful, Checking in from Birmingham wasn't great long queues for bag dropped, And I had my hand luggage case taken away from me even though I requested to have it with me as I had breakables items. I was told I can not because of the length of the flight with no explanation at all no options was given for me to take my fragile items out of my case it was taken away with hold buggage I find the staff member who was checking me in very unpleasant !! Can we please be advise if the rules have changed about the the carry on hand luggage it will be easier to be advise on booking your tickect if we not allowed to take the hand luggage with me. Overall I had a good flight .
The plane was clean and the staff was friendly. Food and drinks as expected on international flights. The entertainment system was old style, with a pullout controller, and selections not as extensive as on other flights.
I requested wheel chair assistance , it was confirmed via email that inwoood get it but I didn’t get it . The last leg of my trip to Nigeria was the worst.
One of their staff was so rude with discriminative. Such a reputed airline shouldn't hire such kind of arrogant attendants.
The boarding was one of the worst I’ve ever experienced. The fault lays on Ohare Airport and not so much the airline. The waiting area by the gate was the size to accommodate a regional flight for 20-30 people and right next to a busy walkway. When you cramped nearly 300 passengers into that space is was unbearable.
one of my bags was drenched with fish smelling water and all my new clothes bought at dublin and the 23kg checked in bag were all gone waste with very pungent fish smell and also having stains
Seats actually fit a human! Snack options were a bit lame but that’s ok
Everything in general was great, but we left 30 minutes late

Everything! Not sure if there's really anything that could make it any better
Very quick trip from Southampton to Edinburgh Arrival a long way from baggage and up 3flights of stairs no lifts or escalators
The food from Lagos to Amsterdam was was very poor compared to AMS-YYZ
The flight was again delayed for more then 2 hours with some lousy explanation regarding the reason of the delay. Although the flight was delayed for more than 2 hours, no refreshments were offered (according to EU regulations). Last 4 flights on KLM - always at least 2 hrs late. So be prepared that you cannot plan anything with KLM.
no issues at all... Kudos to the food. This time was really really good
It was nice to be on a legacy airline, people try at least.
I travel frequently. The flight was late again... KLM should really try and be on time
The flight itself it was great nice food the crew were very nice and helpful, Checking in from Birmingham wasn't great long queues for bag dropped, And I had my hand luggage case taken away from me even though I requested to have it with me as I had breakables items. I requested wheel chair assistance , it was confirmed via email that inwoood get it but I didn’t get it . The last leg of my trip to Nigeria was the worst.
The seats are too cramped in that plane. If you’re above 1,80m consider alternatives or first class I guess… There were no emergency exits to seat somewhere with more legroom
one of my bags was drenched with fish smelling water and all my new clothes bought at dublin and the 23kg checked in bag were all gone waste with very pungent fish smell and also having stains
I fly to the USA every 6wks on Ave and 99% of the time I fly Aer Lingus. If I fly BA I’m always disappointed. My only criticism is the food. I’m vegan and over the last year it’s got slightly better these last couple of flights but on the whole it’s not good! Salad and fruit salad for breakfast and that’s also the starter and desert for the lunch/dinner and the main is usually rice with fried veg 😳the pasta is pretty good though. That’s been the last 2 meals…. Everything else is fantastic.
The flight was half full and I presume that the next few days are even less busy not sure why they are still charging a premium to change a flight.
Are Longus was fine. I booked thru Kayak and was unable to get my business class seat early. Sat next to galley. Crew forgot to wake me for breakfast.
Flight staff very friendly and helpful where possible. Late flight and travelling with young child, cabin lights remained on for the duration of the flight which was a little disappointing considering the time of the flight. Overall very happy to travel with Aer Lingus.
Short flight so not much to rate. Surprised I had to pay for a soda.
the room on the plane was good but that is because flight not sold the other three seat and I had room. the food in terrible.
Very good need to offer better choice of food for business
There were a lot of empty rows. As a single passenger I should not have been seated with 2 others. The WiFi didn’t work. The Kosher meal was awful.
They lost my baggage on my connecting flight and we’re an hour late so I nearly missed it
Thankfully not a full flight so although my headphone jack wasn’t working 100% on my window seat, I was able to move to the aisle seat. Food was fine, nothing great but tasty enough. Crew were friendly and made enough rounds. Always have a decent experience with Aer Lingus
Well Is extra charge for everything and other companies include that and the price.
The trip itself was good. I have given only good as rating, because my first flight has been cancelled by a different airline and that caused disruption in my trip. I spent over ten hours in Luton airport and that caused me high tiredness, sickness, because of the very early initial trip. easyJet staff has been professional and friendly.
Not great! Rude staff in London and the worse baggage reclaim I’ve ever seen. Great staff in flight but doubt I’ll fly with them again
You booked my 7 year old son to sit on his own without his mum and dad in s separate row between two unfriendly adult strangers. The plane was disgusting and dirty, aisles and everywhere sticky. The lounge waiting area was filthy carpet and had insufficient seats so we had to sit on it to wait for 35 minutes and my 7 year old sone played on this filthy lounge carpet. The outside of the plane appeared clean. The pilot was helpful with the route and what to expect weather etc.
Comfort isn’t a word one uses on economy airlines! Boarding was okay, delayed but okay, the flight was good, quick and time was made up.
The seat leg room seemed much tighter on the way home My cheese toasty wasn’t that hot - didn’t realise till half eaten
With stairs on a rainy tarmac, EasyJet flights are ok for younger travelers with backpack only. Seniors with mobility issues find it challenging 😰. However, the crew and disability assistance folks at both ends eased that discomfort as much as possible for their various roles. Kudos to airport and EasyJet employees for their kind service.
The flight boarded a little late but made up the time in flight - much appreciated. The staff were efficient and fairly friendly One of the toilets wasn’t working - having only one functioning toilet for a flight of hundreds isn’t really acceptable. I still find it amazing that the budget airlines can’t even offer free tap water to passengers.
Speedy boarding is a waste of money when they herd you on to a bus and take you to the plane and it turns in to a free for all …very unsatisfactory
Plane out was great, one back was cramped. Awful. Thankfully great crew!
Good, everything went straight forward and on time, I am satisfied
Perfect timing, perfect departure, lovely crew on the ground and in the air.
Good flight. Take off a little late but make up the time
Everything’s went straight forward, no issues, good service and friendly crew
Left on time and arrived on time both ways, thank you
The flight was 45 mins delayed but the crew provided water and necessities like tissues
Cheap flights as you expect with Ryanair. I would take cheaper flights over entertainment and comfort for short haul travel. Main issue is usually delays at airports. In this case we landed roughly 2hr30 later than planned due to earlier delays with the plane. Not the worst I imagine
We each paid for 10kg checked in luggage. Flying out there were no issues sharing one case (20kg). Not so coming back. Additional £48 charge and unable to provide an explanation of why it was ok on one journey but not the other, or indeed what material difference it makes between 2x10kg cases vs 1x20kg case. Scam, and appalling from Ryanair.
Easy process and good flight experience The food good be better
I didn't like. The seats and the floor were very dirty and it is not the first time

Today the south of Wales is dotted with some well preserved Roman sites near major cities like Cardiff (make sure to visit the Cardiff Roman Fort), Swansea (nearby forts exist in Neath and Loughor), and Brecon (with its impressive Brecon Gaer Fort) - as well as in some cities often overlooked by tourists such as Carmarthen (which has a remarkable Roman Ampitheatre) and Newport (with the beautiful Caerleon Roman Fortress, Baths, and Amphitheatre). If you love history, make sure to add all these sites to your list because with a rental car you can make time for all of them and more! This is a flexible vacation package. Wales FAQ's
Wales is well-known for being a country that is equal parts agricultural and rural as it is industrial . North Wales in particular is known for its castles , haunting moors , and mountainous terrain , whereas South Wales is known for its verdant valleys . Glamorgan and South Wales are also known for its museums and World Heritage Sites that chronicle Wales`s irrevocable ties to the iron and coal industries. Wales is known for its beaches and seaside resorts , from Llandudno in the north to the Gower Peninsula in the south. It is also known for its exquisite private and public gardens that bloom with flowers from around the world. Finally, Wales is known for its unique and vibrant nightlife , including thousands of bars and pubs .
Most visitors to Wales visit the region of Glamorgan in southern Wales, home to the capital, Cardiff , and Wales`s second city, Swansea . North Wales is also a very popular area for tourists, in particular Caernarfon , Llandudno , the Isle of Anglesey , and Snowdonia National Park .
Springtime is the best time to visit most of Wales, as crowds are not as large at tourist attractions, flowers are in bloom, and prices for accommodations are routinely discounted. The best time to visit Llandudno is during the summer season , which also coincides with the high season there, so crowds cannot be avoided at the seaside. For more information, check out: Best Time to Visit Wales .
We recommend approximately 7-10 days based on what you want to see and do. We offer flexible vacation packages so you can select your number of nights in each city, desired hotel and activities. We suggest a minimum of 3 nights in Cardiff and North Wales.
Whatever your pleasure, transportation in Wales is modern, easy to navigate and fits a variety of budget ranges. The best way to travel in Wales ultimately depends on your goals: Do you want to travel by train in Wales, or maybe you want to visit as many cities as possible or exploring the towns dotted throughout the country; if so, driving may be the way to go. By Car: If you want to enjoy the countryside at your own pace, renting a car is a great way to see Wales. Wales`s road network is well-developed, although not to the vast extent it is in neighboring England. Two-lane country streets and avenues are also great for exploring via automobile. It`s a roughly four-hour drive (excluding traffic) from Cardiff to Caernarfon or Llandudno, and a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Cardiff to Aberystwyth. For more information, check out: Driving in Wales . By Train and/or Ferry: The train system in Wales is administered by Transport for Wales. There are rail lines that connect all the major towns and cities along the southern coast, the north of the country, and many of the towns along Cardigan Bay. Handicapped accessibility is available in most major and mid-sized train stations. A train station is situated in Cardiff International Airport, making travel to your destination from arrival in Wales easier. Rail lines run from Wales directly to Warrington, Manchester, Birmingham, Cheltenham, and Gloucester in England. There are ferry ports in Pembroke and Fishguard that have multiple weekly sailings to Rosslare Europort in Ireland, and one at Holyhead on the isle of Anglesey with multiple weekly sailings to Dublin.
Wales, like the other constituent nations of the United Kingdom, uses the pound sterling (£). US dollars are not accepted. Please be sure to have the correct currency on hand or be prepared to exchange your dollars for pounds upon arrival. Currency exchange desks can be found at the airport and many locations throughout the country. For more information, see Tipping in the United Kingdom .
