Andrew Bird will tour Australia in March 2023

He has three shows locked in along the east coast
Andrew Bird is an extraordinary artist.
For decades the virtuosic violinist, singer, songwriter, composer, actor, and expert whistler has offered up fresh and exciting takes on indie rock, pop and folk music.
He's released 16 acclaimed albums, the latest of which is this year's very good Inside Problems , he's made music for film and television, and he even landed a role in the TV series Fargo a couple of years back.
Now, for the first time since 2017, Andrew Bird will once again tour Australia, with three shows announced for March of 2023.
While in Australia early next year, Bird will play theatres in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Bird's live performances are unique and remarkable. His prodigious musical talent matched with a keen skill for live looping allows him to create sonic worlds that barely seem possible.
This in itself makes his return to Australia exciting, and the fact that the chance to see him perform over here has traditionally been quite rare makes the prospect even more tantalising.
Catch Andrew Bird playing the following shows next March. Tickets are on sale from 9am Tuesday 9 August.
Thursday 9 March – Forum, Melbourne
Friday 10 March – Enmore Theatre, Sydney
Saturday 11 March – The Tivoli, Brisbane

His quick wit and captivating stage presence will have you hanging onto his every word and note: his lifelong career in music writing, and performance, will at times lead to a number of shifts and movements in not only inspiration but also creative output. Andrew Bird fits into this category, from a child prodigy violin virtuoso to a reputable indie-folk singer-songwriter for the past decade.

The last time Andrew Bird was in Australia, he left audiences in awe and critics raving about his unforgettable performances. This time around, he’s bringing even more energy and excitement, and we can’t wait to experience it all.
Our reviewer, Scott Nicolson said of his album Hands Of Glory : “Andrew’s melodic vocal and uneasy lyrics sink into your eardrums, as does the haunting slide guitar. The violin and guitar also marry together nicely in the following number, When The Helicopters Come which is treading the line of more traditional country music, or Americana if you will.”
Catch him when he heads to Melbourne’s own Forum for a show on March 9. Grab your tickets by heading here .

Andrew Bird is an internationally acclaimed, Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, whistler, and songwriter who picked up his first violin at the age of four and spent his formative years soaking up classical repertoire completely by ear. Since beginning his recording career in 1997, Bird has released 17 albums and performed extensively across the globe. He has recorded with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, appeared as “Dr. Stringz” on Jack’s Big Music Show, and headlined concerts at Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and festivals worldwide.
Bird performed as the Whistling Caruso in Disney’s The Muppets movie, scored the FX series Baskets, and collaborated with inventor Ian Schneller on Sonic Arboretum, an installation that exhibited at New York’s Guggenheim Museum, Boston’s ICA, and the MCA Chicago. Bird has been a featured TED Talks presenter, a New Yorker Festival guest, and an op-ed contributor for the New York Times.
More recently, Bird released a series of site-specific improvisational short films and recordings called Echolocations, recorded in remote and acoustically interesting spaces: a Utah canyon, an abandoned seaside bunker, the middle of the Los Angeles River, and a reverberant stone-covered aqueduct in Lisbon. Additionally, Bird hosts an ongoing series of live-streamed performances called Live from the Great Room, putting the creative process on display for fans as he collaborates and converses with friends in a candid, intimate setting.
Shortly after receiving his 2020 Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album, with My Finest Work Yet, Andrew Bird made his professional acting debut in the cast of Fargo’s fourth installment, which concluded on FX in November 2020 and is currently streaming via Hulu. In June 2022, Bird released his latest album, Inside Problems, on Loma Vista Recordings.

Andrew Bird announces the return of his annual Gezelligheid concerts to Chicago’s Fourth Presbyterian Church. Taking place December 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, the series of season-defining holiday shows will continue a beloved tradition that Bird first began in 2009.
Following the release of new album Outside Problems , Gezelligheid serves as an intimate celebration – a communal experience of comforting music amidst the chilly, seasonal darkness.
Referencing a Dutch term that loosely translates to “cozy,” the Gezelligheid performances feature a mixture of instrumental violin pieces and fan favorite songs amplified only by Bird’s signature giant Victrola horns.
Andrew Bird is a Grammy-nominated, internationally acclaimed multi instrumentalist, songwriter and composer who has released 17 records to date. Recording and touring extensively, Bird has performed around the world at festivals and renowned institutions including Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House and Walt Disney Concert Hall. A TED Talks presenter, a New Yorker Festival guest, and an op-ed contributor for the New York Times, Bird debuted on the cast of Fargo’s fourth installment on FX in the fall of 2020. Bird's album, My Finest Work Yet, was nominated for “Best Folk Album” at the 2020 Grammy Awards. Bird’s most recent album, Inside Problems, was released June 2022 on Loma Vista Recordings.

Closure In Moscow Announced As National Support On Mew Australian Tour
Stalwart Aussie prog-rock outfit Closure In Moscow have been named as the national support act for Mew 's upcoming national tour this September.
If it seems like it's been a little quiet on the Closure front of late, that's because they've been squirrelled away hard at work on their eagerly awaited third studio full-length, which is currently in pre-production. It'll be the group's first new release since 2014's lauded sophomore, Pink Lemonade .
The band will return to Perth for the first time in four years as part of the run of shows, and will use the tour opportunity to unveil new material for their fans, as well as dipping into their delightful and diverse back-catalogue.
Mew are returning to Australia for their second-ever visit in a couple of months in support of their acclaimed new album, Visuals . The shows promise to live up to the full-length's name, with self-crafted light and other visual artistry woven into the fabric of each performance.
Presented by The Music and Bird's Robe Collective, Mew's Visuals national tour will kick off in Brisbane and head through to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, where the show wraps up on 13 September.
