Michael Malewicz

I wanted to leave a review for the outstanding repair technician, Michael Malewicz. He was honest with me about a service possibly damaging my clubs and I can't thank him enough. It's rare to meet people like Michael and his small gesture meant a lot. He should be celebrated for the way he handles himself and represents the company.

Really disappointed at the service from…

Really disappointed at the service from PGA Superstore. I ordered a putter over the weekend and paid for the upgraded shipping (3-5 days) to receive it by this weekend. I received the confirmation and they charged my card. Did not receive shipment confirmation so called today (Wednesday). Was told that the club was being shipped directly from Taylor Made and that always takes longer. They could send an email today but it would take up to 72 just to get an estimated ship date from TM. Horrible communication from PGA Superstore and actually deceptive to say it would take 3-5 days to get it when actuality it is 3-5 days from whenever it ships.

I shop on a regular basis at your store and have seen a huge difference in customer service. Very unfriendly to a point of rudeness. I recently made a purchase and wasn’t even thanked. I am going to take my business to Golf Galaxy from now on. I owned my own business for thirty years and always stressed to my employees that They greet customers with a smile and make them feel welcomed or they will go somewhere else. That is what I will be doing.

PGA Tour Superstore Golf and More,

PGA Tour Superstore Golf and More, If you play pickleball in Charlotte and love looking great on the court, you must shop at the PGA Superstore. I always find great skirts, tops, and shoes from top-quality brands. Destiny is so sweet and kind, ensuring I find what I need and more. Lee is pretty great, too. As a pickleball instructor, it is nice to have a place to send my students to try on shoes and check out apparel. I hope that you all start carrying more paddles. See you again soon- I can't wait to wear my new Pickleball Sweater at JCC Pickleball Social. And yes, to my friends in the Golf department, I am not opposed to getting my driver out to hit the links in 2024. Love- Allycia

The Right Way to Fit a New Set of Irons

Today I spent about 45 minutes with Gene at the 75 and Plano pkwy store. I have worked with Gene on and off for over the last 5 years and truly admire his knowledge and willingness to work with mid to high handy cap golfers like me. Generally, I shoot in the mid-nineties due to 2 or 3 bad holes. LOL His entire focus is on improving my golf game and finding what club works the best for me. As in the past Gene went through his basic Q & A to determine what clubs would work the best based on my swing and characteristics. After evaluating my swing, he recommended 3 different clubs that could produce better ball strikes and reducing my score. It didn't take long for us to discover which club was the best fit, which I ended up buying. I truly appreciate the PGA store for having pros like Gene and others to help with the tough decisions.

Wow, what an experience!

Wow! What a refreshing experience. Corporate/Big Box stores, please take note of the PGA Golf Superstore's business model. While the PGA Golf Superstore is a corporate company, the minute you want in, you do not get that feeling. It is evident that the store is about established long-lasting relationships with their customers, hence my reason to write such a review. The staff is warm, friendly, inviting, knowledgeable, accommodating, willing to educate and explain products, and makes customers feel like family. Needless to say, the PGA Golf Superstore has certainly exceeded expectations. I am now a loyal customer.

I love the golf clothes here but honesty is an issue

I love the golf clothes here. They have a REALLY good selection. Their honesty and integrity leaves alot to be desired, though. There are things on the 65% rack--many of the same kind--and they acknowledge that yes, they're 65% off. But yet the price on the tag is not 65% off the beginning price. Instead of just fixing this, they tried to tell me the 65% is based on some unknown number that corporate calculates, that is not on the tag. What??? After numerous attempts to fix this, it still inexplicably was not rectified. I tried calling customer service, who referred me back to the store. I tried calling the corporate office, and they're more insulated than the IRS--you get a recording and it is IMPOSSIBLE to find a good number or a real person. Wondering how this company stays in business.

Online purchasing here is terrible...avoid

They took my order online and it sat in 'processing'. I tried emailing customer service and got NO REPLY. SHAME! Today, by phone, they did immediately begin processing my cancellation. (I went directly to Foot Joy and bought the product.) Advise: Avoid PGA TOUR Superstore Online.

Poor experience

I purchased a Cobra AEROJET LS 50TH ANNIVERSARY DRIVER. It did not come with the torque wrench or customization guide like it was supposed to. Reached out to their customer service who was of no help. Cobra wouldn't send me one either since I didn't purchase directly from them.

Very bad service

Ordered a full set of left handed lady clubs to the store at PGA Blvd. Express delivery, because we are in Florida on holidays. After one week I went to the store to check. They told me I have to wait and they will send me an e-mail when the clubs arrive. After two weeks I still hear nothing, so I went back to the store. Now they were telling me, that this brand doesn’t make left handed clubs! This company has a very lousy service and is not good organized. Below zero points.

Their customer service is worse than terrible- it’s non-existent. I am trying to return a pair of shorts which I ordered online. Filled out the form on the online returns site. When I hit submit, message came up saying it was not possible to do at this time, please call. I called the number, several times. No answer. I then wrote the customer service email. It was returned as Failed: permanent error. I’m astonished. Plus, the shorts are a terrible quality. Don’t buy online from them! Nancy D

I ordered a NEW driver online. I received a used DEMO driver minus the head cover. This was not something a typical employee would decide on their own. Is this policy? Sent Wrong Item, Then months later charge me $765

In July I ordered a trainer club. They sent me an entirely different club.Called customer service and they argued with me and said ,you got what you ordered.I said send me out the new club and let me ship it back. They said they needed to double charge me and I needed to pay the $20 plus go to post office and send back. Then within 6-8 weeks after they receive the wrong club, they will send the other club and give me a refund. Now in November, they somehow charge my card $765 for something I never ordered and have no trace to what it is.I was warned to not order from them, now I’m letting other people NOT to make my mistake

PGA TOUR Superstore Club Fitting Review: A PGA Pro’s Experience

I recently took one of my students for a full bag fitting at our local PGA TOUR Superstore in Altamonte Springs, FL. In doing so, I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to do a professional PGA TOUR Superstore Club Fitting review.

Our  PGA TOUR Superstore full bag fitting was an amazing experience for us. Our fitter, Charles Moore, was a master fitter with over 20 years of experience. He used high-end technology like the Trackman Launch Monitor and SAMPuttLab putting analysis tools and software to diagnose any issues.

The three-hour session ran through all of the clubs in Lincoln’s bag. Charles started with irons, followed by Lincoln’s putter, wedges, and finally with his woods and driver. The time flew by, and the insights we learned will surely help Lincoln going forward.

After a 3-hour fitting, a few things we learned were:

  • Change Lincoln’s 7-iron to a more upright degree to tighten his shot distribution.
  • Shorten his driver to gain more control off the tee.
  • Minor tweaks were made to his wedge lofts, gapping, and bounce.
  • The putter was looking good.

I’ve been a golf instructor for 27 years and have been certified by the PGA for 15 years, and this is my first full bag fitting. After this experience, I’m convinced that a proper fitting is something all serious golfers need to do.

The only drawback could be the cost. Individual club fittings start at $40 to $50, while a full bag fitting at PGA Tour Superstore costs $99 to $300 ( check your local PGATSS stores pricing ). The more expensive fittings use more premium technology to analyze your swing.

If you spend hundreds or thousands on golf equipment and hours at the range or course, I think most golfers will consider this a solid investment. But please read on to decide for yourself, and at the end, I dive into the specific costs.

A PGA TOUR Superstore club fitting uses readings from technology such as Trackman  and SAM PuttLab  to recommend the best way to improve issues with your game.

That was exactly what our Studio Fitter, Charles, did as we went through the fitting, starting with Lincoln’s irons and then moving on to his putter, wedges, woods, and driver.

technology used during pga tour superstore club fitting samputtlab and trackman

Here is a quick bit about our Studio Fitter:  Charles is originally from Gainesville, Florida. It was clear he had a true passion for golf. In talking with him, we found out he began his golf journey at 7, and today, at age 45, he is still just as passionate. He originally got his start in the golf industry in 1995, where he worked as a caddy, and then moved into the retail space in 1999, working for a store in Myrtle Beach. Charles has been a master fitter for over 20 years  after becoming certified through major golf vendors, including Callaway, Taylormade, PING, and Titleist.

I was thoroughly impressed with the Studio Full Bag Fitting at the PGA TOUR Superstore, and I know that my student Lincoln was also. The following are the positives and negatives we both took from the experience.

  • It can help you get a good understanding of your swing tendencies
  • It can help you see where your equipment is helping you
  • It can help you see where your equipment is hurting you
  • It can instantly help you improve your game with equipment modifications
  • A fitting is not a cure-all for an ailing game, but a compliment to lessons as well as practice
  • It could be considered too expensive for some (I’ll cover the full costs below)

Lincoln and I will remember the Studio Full Bag fitting at the PGA TOUR Superstore in Altamonte Springs, FL, for years. Our fitter, Charles, shared his decades of experience and sincerely wanted to help Lincoln reach his full potential.

Additionally, all the various reports from tools like Trackman and SAMPuttLab provide a great deal of valuable information after the fitting. As a coach , that information is great for me to go through with my students after a fitting session and when we are at our next session together.

I would absolutely recommend it to anyone to go through a fitting, even if it’s not a full-bag fitting.

Lincoln will work with a 7-iron with a more upright degree to help balance his contact on the face. After looking through the SAMPuttLab reports, it was good to see that his putting and putter were right on. His wedges also looked good, with some minor suggestions to change the gapping or the distance between clubs. He could also tweak the widget lofts and bounce.

The driver fitting takes the most time, and Charles had some expert insight to share. He noticed Lincoln’s driver was too long, and this is a common problem for many golfers. He cut down his driver right there, which should immediately save Lincoln some strokes.

I’ll go into more detail as I cover each club and what was looked at and share some pictures.

“It was cool to learn about different aspects of equipment and how it can affect your game. It was very helpful and helped coach and I make  some good decisions about equipment changes I should make to help further the work we are doing together. It’s crazy that only a degree or two of lie angle can make such a big difference. Getting a fitting can help a golfer in many ways, and it might be a good idea to consider getting one done.” ~ Lincoln Nascimento [My student who received the fitting]

computer images showing launch monitor data from irons like impact height, impact offset, dynamic loft, face angle, face to path, spin axis, spin rate, spin loft, attack angle, club path and more

In our club fitting , Charles had Lincoln warm up and get loose in the hitting bay. After that, Lincoln hit several 7-irons to get some baseline numbers from Trackman . Key areas that were looked at included:

  • Where on the clubface strikes were made at impact
  • The path Lincoln was swinging as he approached the ball at impact
  • Whether his clubface was square, open, or closed at impact
  • His spin rate on shots
  • His overall shot dispersion

Once these baseline readings were made, Charles measured the lie angle of Lincoln’s 7-iron and its length . These factors often play a key role in the patterns a golfer shows in their shots.

Lincoln’s irons were pretty close to the standards for the club brand he plays.

Result: With all the information gathered, Lincoln hit a second 7-iron that was more upright than the standard . This significantly helped balance out where on the face he was making contact with the ball and tightened up his shot distribution.

Next up was the putter fitting stage of the session. The Science and Motion , or SAM PuttLab, was used in this area. This awesome technology helps take a deep dive into the dynamics of golfers’ putting and how their path and face react at impact.

putter fitting at pga tour superstore during full bag club fitting

Putting is very much an individual thing and is as much a feel and comfort thing as anything else.  If a golfer can consistently deliver the putter face squarely into the ball at impact, then how they accomplish that does not matter. What you are looking for with poor putters is issues with face control   at impact  and things like distance control.

Lincoln’s putting is consistent regarding how his face comes into the ball at impact. While there were some suggestions for putters to try, we were both pleased with how his baseline numbers looked .

Result: No changes were made to his putter.

Charles Moore, master fitter, works with golf student at launch monitor during PGA TOUR Superstore full bag club fitting

Following the putter fitting, Charles worked with Lincoln on his wedges. With a wedge fitting, like with the irons, the fitter looks first to see a player’s tendencies.

Charles had Lincoln hit several full swing, half swing, and open face lob shots with each of his wedges . Things that are being looked at with the wedges include:

  • The bounce on each wedge
  • The grind on each wedge
  • Gapping a player has between wedges
  • Club length, shaft type, and grip

Result:  Based on the findings of Lincoln’s tendencies and performance with his current wedges, some suggestions were made to slightly modify his gapping, lofts, and ever so slight changes to his bounces.

driver fitting at PGA Tour Superstore full bag club fitting using trackman hitting bays and launch monitor

The final stage of Lincoln’s full bag fitting focused on his woods and driver. Most of the time spent in this area was focused on his driver.

Once again, the process is pretty much the same as was the case with the irons and wedges. Lincoln started by getting warmed up and then proceeded to get into capturing data with his current driver.

Again, a baseline is set to see his tendencies, and then the actual fitting or suggesting of changes is made.

Key Takeaway: The biggest insight with this portion of the fitting was the massive difference between the length of a driver on the PGA TOUR vs. what the average amateur carries in their bag. The PGA TOUR average driver length is 44.75”, compared to the average amateur’s driver clocking in at 45.5” to 46.5”.

Charles quickly pointed out that most drivers are simply too long for the average golfer , which is a big reason why control is such an issue.

Result: Lincoln and I agreed, and he chopped his driver down to help gain more control off the tee.

pga tour superstore interior in-store showing racks of putters, clothing, putting greens during club fitting

Now, this may sound great, but what is the cost of a PGA TOUR Superstore Club Fitting? Well, types and pricing may vary depending on the store location. The following is pricing at my local store in Altamonte Springs, FL.

At stores using technology like the Trackman and SAMPuttLab, most individual club fittings range between $49 and $99. The Full Bag Fittings cost $300.

Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • A 25-minute performance evaluation for any club: $49
  • A fairway, hybrid, or wedge fitting: $59
  • A driver, iron, or putter fitting: $99
  • A Studio Full Bag Fitting (3 hours): $300

At stores that don’t use as expensive technology, you’ll pay around $40 for an individual club fitting. The Full Bag Fittings cost $99.

Club Fittings to Consider:

Our fitter, Charles, walked us through a prioritized list of clubs you should get a fitting for if you couldn’t afford a full bag fitting or just need help with one or two clubs.

Each store has varying options and prices, so check the offerings and prices at your local store . You can book a reservation now if you’re ready.

I always believed that combining regular golf instruction and club fitting could pay big dividends to any golfer. After going through a full-bag three-hour fitting session at the PGA TOUR Superstore, I am now convinced that a proper fitting is something that all serious golfers need to do.

Golf equipment off the shelf or purchased online is not one-size-fits-all.

  • Having clubs that are too long, too heavy, or don’t have the right lie angle can absolutely cost you strokes.
  • Having a toe-hang putter, when you are better off with a face-balanced one, can cost you strokes.
  • Having wedges with improper gapping or an incorrect bounce can also cost you strokes.

Getting a proper fitting done can truly help your game.

Alyssa Hockenbury general manager of PGA Tour Superstore in Alamonte Springs, Florida

“Regardless of your level of play, getting custom-fit golf clubs offers some key advantages. From drivers to putters, it’s important that each club in the bag adds to a player’s skills while compensating for their tendencies. It is far better to improve your game using golf clubs that match your swing characteristics and don’t impede your improvement.” Alyssa Hockenbury, General Manager of PGA TOUR Superstore in Altamonte Springs, FL

  • Club Repair
  • Fitting Services
  • Numerous Lesson Programs and Packages

PGA TOUR Superstore uses varies types of high-quality launch monitors by Trackman and Foresight GC2s. Both are premium launch monitors professional golfers use to track and improve their swing. Trackman is the leader in the launch monitor sector of the game. The data from the Trackman monitors at the PGA TOUR Superstore are very accurate.

PGA TOUR Superstore is owned and operated by Arthur Blank, the co-founder of Home Depot. Blank is also the owner of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC.

Employees of the PGA TOUR Superstore do not make commissions. Sales associates won’t try to pressure you for a sale to make a commission. Glassdoor.com says they make between $40 and $63K annually regardless. Indeed.com states Retail Sales Associates make around $14 per hour.

You can try out a large selection of irons and other clubs at the PGA TOUR Superstore. The best way to truly see what clubs may be best for you is to get a fitting while there. If you are buying clubs, you can get a basic fitting for free as the associate helps you find the right clubs.

You can get free fittings at PGA TOUR Superstores if you are buying clubs from them. A rep will let you test out the equipment in the hitting bays and help you find the right clubs to fit your swing tendencies. But it won’t be as in-depth as a full-bag club fitting. Pricing varies by location, but you can review the prices at your local PGATSS and book a reservation online.

I hope this PGA TOUR Superstore Club Fitting review has proven helpful for you. It is crazy to me, after 27 years working in the golf business and the last 15 years as a PGA Professional, that I have never watched a full bag fitting in its entirety.

When I left the fitting my student Lincoln went through at the PGA TOUR Superstore, my appreciation for the work club fitters do to help people enjoy the game more grew by leaps and bounds. I sincerely appreciated my experience at the PGATSS and know my student also gained a great deal from it.

If you have been on the fence about getting professionally fit for golf equipment, I will say this… don’t hesitate any longer, as a fitting can be what your game has been looking for.

"Great selection & service but not so great prices ."

"1/2 hour later the 2 of them were still studying the customer 's club choices."

"Outside of a bit of a wait , my experience was great."

Huge store and good selection of clubs and apparel. However, agree with other reviews regarding staff. Staff was unresponsive, not helpful, and responded with one word answers and passed on to another coworker. I was told conflicting information by various employees in the store. I needed to speak to 3 different staff members to turn on simulator. It was as if the staff was doing everything they could to get me NOT to buy clubs from them. By one staff member when I asked a question about a club he said "you could easily just google that." However, they actually have a good selection at solid prices. I would think it would be easy to find helpful staff at a golf store. I recommend not coming to this location if you are looking for customer service including discussing different club options but if you know what you want then give it a shot.

We are truly sorry for your negative experience. I can assure you that we try to accommodate every person that comes into our store and are constantly looking at ways we can improve our customer service. Our commitment to excellence is a top priority and we strive to assist every person that comes in and gets all their questions answered.

As a transitioning hockey player to novice golfer, like most, I started with hand-me-down clubs. After playing more regularly over the past few years I finally decided to go the PGA Tour Superstore in Westbury, NY for my very first club fitting. The first instructor was helpful however the club he recommended for me shattered during my first trip to the driving range. So I wasn't sure it was the right fit for me and was upset after spending a lot of money. I contacted the club and the GM Michael Price told me to come back to resolve the issue. I was introduced to another club fitter, Matthew Gaynor, and he went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable in finding another driver. He gave me feedback that was helpful in all areas including my swing pattern, club head speed, stance, and grip. I want to commend the team for turning my experience around and I'll definitely be going back when I'm ready for my next purchase.

The store is not really customer centric it’s a big box had clubs made and driver purchased driver settings were never explained driver came with different grip than custom irons no wrench came with driver. Called manager just so that future customers have a better customer experience her attitude was more like a “yea ok” than customer focused response it’s a big box recommended fittings at smaller shop that’s customer focused than just purchase ancillary items here where customer connections are not relevant. No one called to let me know customer order was ready and waiting I finally called and spoke to a manager an only asked was he sure he game me some how else would I know through osmosis answer. Nice place for all items other than customer clubs and driver selection that matches customer.

Keith Cook, we're disappointed to hear of the negative experience you had at our location. We would like to work towards a resolution, so if you are willing, please reach out to us at (516) 824-3000 to discuss this further.

Manager was pretty rude, prices not competitive. Can come to practice your shots and test out equipment you are interested in, but much better prices at online retailers.

I'm sorry that your time spent here was negative. We strive to provide a really positive experience for all our customers and promise to continue to train our associates to deliver that promise. Thank you for acknowledging that we allow customers to try out clubs free of charge before purchasing. Hope to see you again Sincerely, Noel Yulfo Experience Manager

Instructor was great however when I signed up for the 6 lessons was told that I had the right to the same weekly time slot. Told today that is not the case. Only allowed to book 1 lesson at a time and can’t book consecutive lessons. Would have spent my money elsewhere.

I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience with scheduling your lessons. We have 4 instructors on staff and we try to accommodate everyone. Unfortunately the new golf season has been extremely busy and our instructors are booked out for 1 month. They did a good job on shortening my club. Except every worker in there was nasty and miserable. The younger workers act like we’re a burden making them do their job. They had an attitude with every question asked. Either they all hate each other or they’re just not friendly employees

I went to the Westbury location yesterday thinking I needed a new driver. Matt took his time and explained everything to me I learned so much for my visit. He is without a doubt one of the best sales people I have ever dealt with. Thank you Matt I will be back and I will send anyone in need of golf equipment your way!

Barbara Mcgivney, we're so glad that we were able to go above and beyond your expectations! We hope to see you soon!

After Addidas messed up my ZG21 MENS GOLF shoe order, I was looking different website to buy it, but no luck. Today luckily log on PGATOUR website and saw the shoes their. And I stopped this location and got my Addidas ZG21 shoes. This location is a huge showroom with all the items related to golf and tennis. They have golf club repair shop, and you can have your club fixed. They have golf simulator area also. They carry all the major brands. Staff is very nice and helpful. Will definitely visit again and recommend this store to all Golf lovers.

Thanks for stopping by to see us Jaswinder! We really appreciate the 5 stars and hope we see you again soon!!

Always prompt service and I like the fact that you can get clubs regripped in short order especially with a membership. They have a wide selection of golf products. The only downside for me is that it's a long drive from where I live.

Paul K Mcginniss, we are so happy to read such a great review about PGA TOUR Superstore! We look forward to your next visit! Take care!

Great selection of products! Free parking, decent club fitting service; great instruction station and have rental driving booths. Putting area available, and re-gripping and refitting of clubs are also available. Great place overall.

Crap sales team. Seriously asked this dude to help me pick the right size clubs and he's like "yea that's not how it works buddy". 2 seconds later these 2 girls ask the same question and he simped all over them and became Mr. Customer service.

I was a bit worried by all the negative reviews but figured I would give it a shot anyway. Had to wait about 30 min for a club fitter, but used the time to play around on the putting green, which was time well spent anyway. They give you a buzzer like in a restaurant so you know when it's time. The club fitter was a really nice guy, took his time with me in the simulator, and made a recommendation on a new set of irons which was absolutely the right fit for my body type and golf ability. Didn't try to upsell me on something I didn't need. He went above and beyond and even carried all of my purchases up to the register. Yeah, the guys behind the register were kids and took their time, so I get the frustration of some of the other reviews. But they also were very helpful, signed me up for the rewards program, found me the correct driver cover, and generally made it a great experience. I would be annoyed if I was in a hurry, but they are also set up for online ordering and curbside pickup. Now the only thing I have to worry about is learning how to hit the ball properly.

Worse experience. The website says to take advantage of their club technicians expert advice to select the best club grips for you. I asked the kid when I went in for assistance on the grips and he pointed to the location. Then the grips I selected only 6 where in the bin. I asked if they had any others and he said what's ever there and walked away. Last time I go there. Same reason I left Dick's. Kids don't care. also 5 days to do the job.

Kevin- The PGA Tour Superstore prides itself on servicing every customers golf needs while providing a great experience in our stores. While we are currently experiencing product availability issues from many vendors, that is our opportunity to provide alternative solutions to each customer's needs and I will use your feedback to personally look into this interaction you had with one of our associates and coach them on how we can serve our guests better next time. Thank you for taking time to provide this feedback. Michael Price General Manager

Went there for a "club fitting" and was very underwhelmed. The gentleman who was helping me didn't really fit me for clubs at all. He asked some basic questions, handed me one of their more expensive irons, and had me hit a few balls in the virtual driving range. He asked me how the club felt and made some observations about my swing. After that, he handed me another shiny new club and asked me to try that. This time, while I was swinging, the gentleman spoke to me about how bad cancel culture is and told me how he was friends with a famous golf teacher. At no point did he make any suggestions or useful observations in regards to the "club fitting" that I was there for. He simply handed me two irons and rambled for 20 minutes. It felt more like he was just trying to sell me expensive clubs than actually provide me with any useful information. That being said, I gave this two stars because the store itself is very impressive. They have a remarkable inventory of both high end equipment, as well as affordable alternatives. Also, I went with another person who also got fitted for clubs and he said his experience was slightly better. All in all, I'd recommend this place as a solid choice when looking for anything golf related, but don't expect much from their "club fitting" section.

Alex, I am sorry to hear about your experience while being fit at our store. We would be happy to refit you, if you feel like we did not suggest the best possible equipment for you. All of our fitters are trained through multiple vendor training programs, as well as our own. Also, our fitters are not on commission, so we never just go with the most expensive option. Golf is a sport of integrity and honesty, and we run our business the same way. Please reach out if I can help in any way. I came in looking for a new golf set. I am a beginner and I'm not the most knowledgeable about golf. But after being assisted by Jim, I was able to make an educated decision on which clubs I should buy. He helped me understand the different types of clubs and what they are made of and he was extremely patient. Overall great atmosphere in the store, would go again!

Photo of Leilani V.

The staff there treat their customers like absolute garbage and talk shit about customers RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. If a customer is seeking advice on buying a product why do you guys as staff think it's okay to make rude remarks about them in ear shot when it's literally your job??? Unbelievable. I don't need your damn lessons much less your clubs. Taking my business elsewhere. Retrain your staff. Beyond pissed off.

Have never had an issue - been in twice for fittings which are free. Just went to customer service and asked to try out some clubs with a fitter. Have always had friendly fitters who went above and beyond and even offered tips based on their observations of my swing. Tony was the guy who helped me out yesterday. Really nice and knowledgeable guy. Great selection of anything golf-related. Felt compelled to write something seeing all the negative comments. Hope this helps!

Photo of Ray E.

Don't buy anything tennis related unless Adam is there. The staff struggled with any knowledge of tennis product, service or pricing. Staff looked very unprofessional and lacked any customer service. I wish Adam was there.... "We only have one tennis guy staffed" - employee with the threaded eyebrows At the end of the day these guys don't care about their customers. I had issues previously with the golf side many times which is another story Advice to corporate - if you're going to have a section for tennis, make sure someone with knowledge is also on the floor. If not, then just get rid of it - plain and simple. For the amount of money you charge for rackets, someone should be on the floor to help with this area. Hiring people who are well rounded would benefit your customers and make it a pleasant experience.

I am no longer the golfer in the family... I have left that to my wife. We came to the store to look for clubs for her (starting to shop for the birthday.) I was so impressed with 1. The team members here... From the second we walked in until we left all they want to do is help 2. While I was sitting in the chair (left for the instructors,) I was engaged into a conversation with on of the teachers.. Genuinly nice people. If I ever take lessons, I will definitely come here. 3. Selection: Holy cow... If they don't have it here, stop searching. The place is very easy to get to, right off the parkway, the lot is huge and easy to get in and out of... I even compared price to those line and was truly impressed with there very competitive pricing. This is really a one stop shopping location!

PGA Superstore Fitting Review: In-Depth Analysis

In the world of golf, nothing is quite as satisfying as the perfect swing. But to achieve that perfect swing, you need the perfect club.

Every golfer, from the seasoned pro to the weekend warrior, deserves equipment that fits their unique swing mechanics.

Enter the PGA Superstore, a fitting institution that promises just that: a tailor-made golfing experience that could transform your game.

This review will take a deep dive into the world of PGA Superstore fittings and break down their process, offerings, and customer experience to provide an all-encompassing perspective of what you can expect.

PGA Superstore Fitting Review

The Fitting Process – A Personalized Approach

Upon entering the PGA Superstore, clients are greeted by knowledgeable and friendly staff, who carefully guide them through the fitting process.

This personalized approach begins with an interview to assess your skill level, goals, and any physical limitations.

The fitter then analyzes your existing equipment, swing mechanics, and launch data, which sets the foundation for the club fitting experience.

Cutting-Edge Technology

The PGA Superstore employs state-of-the-art technology during the fitting process to ensure the most accurate and precise results.

Clients are fitted in dedicated hitting bays equipped with launch monitors, such as TrackMan or Foresight GCQuad, which capture crucial data points like ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, and carry distance.

This advanced technology, combined with the expertise of professional fitters, enables the customization of club specifications to suit each golfer’s unique swing characteristics.

A Comprehensive Club Selection

One of the most significant advantages of the PGA Superstore fitting experience is the extensive selection of clubs from leading manufacturers, such as Callaway, TaylorMade, Ping, Titleist, and more.

This diverse range ensures that the fitting isn’t skewed by limited club or shaft options and allows you to find a club that feels just right.

PGA Superstore also offers a broad range of club customization options, from lie angle adjustments to grip replacements, further enhancing the tailored experience.

Furthermore, the PGA Superstore fitting experience is not exclusive to the elite players. Their services cater to all skill levels, from the eager beginner to the seasoned professional.

This inclusivity, coupled with the relaxed, no-pressure environment, means golfers of all abilities can benefit from their expertise.

However, it’s important to note that while the PGA Superstore fitting service is comprehensive, it comes with a price tag.

Fitting fees, although comparable to those of other major golf retailers, may feel steep to some, particularly those new to the sport.

It’s an investment, certainly, but one that many will argue is worth making for the noticeable improvement it can bring to your game.

Irons, Woods, and Putter Fittings

The PGA Superstore fitting services cover every club in the bag, offering comprehensive fitting solutions for irons, woods, and putters.

Iron fittings focus on factors like shaft material, flex, length, and lie angle, while wood fittings emphasize loft, shaft, and clubhead design.

The putter fitting process, often overlooked, is a critical aspect of the overall experience, as it can significantly impact a golfer’s short game.

Through the use of specialized technology, such as the SAM PuttLab, the fitter analyzes a golfer’s putting stroke and recommends the ideal putter type, length, and lie angle to improve consistency and accuracy on the greens.

Additional Services and Support

The PGA Superstore fitting process does not end once the optimal club specifications are determined.

Clients receive continued support, including club adjustments and fine-tuning, to ensure their equipment remains tailored to their evolving needs.

Furthermore, the PGA Superstore offers extensive follow-up services, such as golf lessons and practice facilities, to help golfers refine their technique and develop a deeper understanding of the game.

This holistic approach to the golfing experience sets the PGA Superstore apart from competitors, as it emphasizes ongoing improvement and fosters a lasting relationship with clients.

The PGA Superstore fitting experience is an invaluable resource for golfers seeking to elevate their game through custom-fit equipment.

The combination of personalized attention, cutting-edge technology, and an extensive club selection ensures a comprehensive and accurate fitting process that caters to each golfer’s unique needs.

While the cost of a professional fitting session may be a concern for some, the long-term benefits, such as improved consistency, increased distance, and overall enhanced performance, make the investment worthwhile.

Furthermore, the PGA Superstore’s commitment to providing ongoing support and additional services, like golf lessons and practice facilities, demonstrates its dedication to helping clients achieve their full potential on the course.

If you’re a golfer looking to take your game to the next level, the PGA Superstore fitting experience is a must-try.

With a team of experts, state-of-the-art technology, and a wide selection of clubs, this fitting process will provide you with the tools and knowledge necessary to unlock your golfing potential.

I see the PGA SS at some locations offers a paid fitting service. You would hope it features well trained fitters. Anyone here with experiences? I am particularly interested in Downers Grove, IL.

I bought my friend an iron fitting for Christmas at the Southlake TX store since he was really keen on getting fitted for some new irons. It was a waste of my money since the fitter basically just basically gave him stock sets and tried to push a sale on the one my friend liked the idea of coming into the fitting. It was basically the free fitting they give for buying a set, but charged for it since no clubs needed to be bought. They did use GC Quad and provided numbers which was nice, but the fitter seemed ignore the numbers for the most part. My friend ended up doing a Club Champion fitting afterwards and came away with some great clubs to match his swing. But with all fittings, it's only as good as the fitter you have so it will vary by location.

One of the guys in our group was fit in DG through the tour van. He went in with an open mind and ended up with an AP1/AP3 combo set. He played with them for the first time on Saturday and played really well. He was very pleased with the fitting process and more so the result.

Ok, thanks, I'll call & see if they have any cancellations....who should I schedule it with? Who did you get fit from?

Why do they call it a "Tour Van" fitting when its just some guy in their shop. If I didn't know, I would assume that they were bringing in some mobile fitting center with pro level fitters.

I check one of my local store and it list the local guy as the fitter.

In all my years of working in golf I've not once ever heard a positive thing about PGASS. I guess they're massive stores allow them to stock a crap load of stuff, but I wouldn't go there expecting good customer service.

phatchrisrules

Imagine that, a store wanting to actually make money! Why is this such a common thread on fitting topics, absolute shock that a fitter is going to try and make a sale after the fititng? Of course a fitter wants to make sales! That's their job! Sure the fitting fee is a great way to add revenue when sales are slow, but even at $100 per fit, x 7 fits per day, across 5 days, and no sales, the shop is only bringing in $182,000 in sales. Some busy days at my big box store did over $100k in sales in one day. The week before Christmas Costco makes on average about 1.2 million in sales PER DAY. And we are talking $182k per YEAR. After taxes, paying employees, paying off the demo matrix, rent, buying new balls, paying off the loan on the 2-3 Trackmans/GC Quads/Flightscopes, that isn't really a lot of money and they wouldn't make it much into year two with those kinds of numbers.

You've obviously missed the point here. The OP is going for a fitting and I suggested what is probably the best fitter in the NY area that he should go to. At Pete's, you are NOT pressured into buying anything. They are patient and knowledgeable in what they do, to make sure you are matched to the best clubs for YOUR swing. It may be that his own clubs, with a bit of tweaking, could be the ones, or not.

I went there a few years ago because I was having trouble with my game. Turned out that I needed my Driver shortened 1" and my irons bent 1* up. There was NO pressure to buy the 'latest and greatest' stuff on the rack. That has been my experience with most big box stores. Plus, it is very rare to actually find a really qualified fitter at most of these places. Dick's? Ha! Golfsmith? don't make me laugh.

My store has a no pressure sales approach as well. I get where you're coming from. I would never pressure anyone to buy anything, but I can guarantee you I am going to suggest a potentially better club first before we discuss tweaking the original set. Now, if you come in saying you want to tweak your own clubs, then that is a different story and we will focus on that.

Putting aside the PGA Superstore for just a moment, let's agree that ANY club fitting experience is going to be dependent in large part on the skills of the club fitter. A good club fitting session is a beautiful thing; a bad one is at best a waste of time and money. I'm a BIG believer in club fitting, but I want to know a LOT about the guy I'm working with before I go, and even then I go in with the understanding that the final say is mine, not his.

To that end, I think that going in cold to a fitting in terms of what you know about the person doing the fitting is a complete crap shoot at the very best, and that would be true at any store, from a club pro, at a demo day, or whatever. I've had two really bad fittings in my life; one was from an employee at a PGA Tour Superstore, and the other from a Titleist rep and former teaching pro at a demo day. By contrast, I got a GREAT driver fitting in a big box store after I got several recommendations on the guy doing the fitting, and I know several club fitters at ranges or clubs who I trust implicitly.

As to the PGA SS: These are great retail stores; huge inventory, good prices, great on trades, great return policies, etc. I can kill an hour in there without buying a thing, and never miss a chance to go in. But going in cold to a fitting, whether in the store or with their "tour van" could go either way on you. If you can't find anything out on the guy who is doing the fitting, you might use some commonsense guidelines in the process.

1. take paper and pencil, and take notes as you go thru various options. Hit your current club(s) first and get benchmarks, then use the fitting number on the screen as a comparison to that. Take their raw numbers with a giant grain of salt, and just do comparison. Write down swing speeds, write down launch angles, write down carry distance and overall distance. Do the best you can with spin rates, but understand that if they aren't using Trackman, their LM is likely to be all over the place on this measurement.

2. Pay as much attention to dispersion as to distance; don't get hypnotized by the carry numbers. Just as it doesn't matter how hard you can throw a baseball if you can't throw a strike, it doesn't matter how far a golf ball goes if you can't find it. I'd almost be willing to say as an absolute rule that the longest driver combo you hit is NOT likely to be the correct fit for you; not always true, but you get the idea.

3. ASK QUESTIONS when the fitter changes heads or shafts! Ask him what he's looking for, what he likes, what he doesn't like, etc. If he's really good, he's going to be telling you this stuff anyway, but hold his feet to the fire on the process he's following. Good fitters LOVE talking about what they are doing; guys trying to make a sale asap don't.

Any updates on how a PGA fitting van experience went for you? Right now it's $50 which is a deal compared to GolfTec and Club Champion. Were you satisfied with your fitting? Did you try different shafts at different lengths suggested by the fitter? How knowledgeable was your fitter?

The fitter here in Scottsdale was professional and knowledgeable and there was not pressure to purchase. Any store can give you a good or poor experience and to say otherwise is folly.

That said, a higher end specialist such as Cool Clubs or Hot Stix is MORE LIKELY to have good fitters.

I went to the PGATSS in Irvine CA for an Apex 19 fitting. I was very impressed with the clubfitter there (Logan Z.), he had some insight into loft/lie and how it would bring in my power fade that I hadn't gotten in a couple of other fittings over the last 14 years. Although we were constrained with the Apex heads (it was a free promo fitting from Callaway/PGATSS) we were able to work with different lie heads and many shaft options. My other two fittings had been with well recommended independents, so I got the full treatment there. I don't doubt that Logan could do a very competent fitting even at PGATSS, although I do think that an outside fitting on grass would be much more valuable than a brick-and-mortar "TourVan"

I had an iron fitting at PGA Tour superstore in Downers Grove and it was great! My fitter was very knowledgeable and did a fantastic job. He mentioned the purchase price and their 90 day or whatever it is playability guarantee and that was it , absolutely no pressure. And I’d expect some sales pressure. I’ve had fittings at Club Champion and PXG and they were about the same with much more sales pressure. Like other posters have suggested, it’s all about the fitter.

mdhacker123

What’s great about the pga SS is you have 30 day “trial” as long as it meets their crusty. You can hit/play with your clubs outside in real environment not just look at the numbers and if doesn’t meet your needs you can return for something else, as long the equipment is in reasonable condition.

If you have to offer customers a 30 day return policy, you're not very confident in your fitters ability.

The pga near me has an outstanding fitter in the tour van thing, lots of good players I know use him. A service like this is completely dependent upon the fitter’s skills, not the store itself.

We have a few PGASS here in Illinois and I have never had a bad experience there but that’s not to say it couldn’t happen I have seen some customers in there that I personally would have shown the door but were treated better than they deserved to be. You sir have now heard a positive experience from the PGASS

I went to the PGA SS in Plano, Texas this year and also Club Champion last year. They both try to sell you clubs for sure but the final decision is up to yourself. Bottom line is they are all just fitters, some better, some not as good, some are better at communication, some might have a bad day at work. The fitter at PGA SS is a better fitter than the one I had in Club Champion for my particular experience.

Callaway Paradym TD 9, Autoflex 505. TM Stealth Plus 5W, Hzrdous Smoke Red 5.5

TSR2 7 wood, Ventus TR 6S. Paradym X 5 hybrid, Ventus 7S.

Paradym X 6 hybrid, Ventus 7S. PXG Gen4 0311ST, 7 to GW. Steelfiber Private Reserve 95R. Artisan 54, 58. KBS TGI 90.

Callaway PM grind 64, KBS Hi-rev. Odyssey 2 Balls Armlock.  Vessel Player 3 Stand Bag.

Remember golf insist played strictly indoors and by the numbers. Reality is sometimes great numbers don’t always perform the same in real environment

I did the Tour Van fitting at the DG PGASS two years ago.

Now, as stated repeatedly: Every fitter / person is different. And, one experience at one store is not indicative of a whole chain. Further, the person I dealt with may not even be there anymore. Finally, even though I'm a customer, I may have had a hand in triggering the service I received.

In my opinion, when I pay for a fitting I don't think there should be an expectation on the part of the fitter to make a sale. We started with driver, and I told the fitter I would probably not be buying anything that day. At that point, I felt the fitter kind of resigned himself to simply handing me clubs from OEM fitting carts. No asking for feedback or anything. At the end, he could only tell me the fairway woods I hit best, and he hadn't written down any of the other "best" choices. Finally, he told me he would e-mail me a summary, which he never did.

Obviously, and as stated previously, YMMV...
