How to get from Seville Airport to City Centre

How to get from Seville Airport to City Centre

The best way to get from Seville airport to downtown is by bus. The EA line leaves you right in the city centre at Plaza de Armas. There is no metro or train, so it is the best and cheapest option.

The Airport of Seville:  San Pablo (SVQ) is located a few kilometres from the city centre (approx. 10 km). It is a relatively small airport but receives a lot of domestic and international traffic.

Table of Contents

1. EA bus line, the best and cheapest way to get from Seville airport to the city centre

In the absence of the metro and train, the bus is the most used means of transport to go from Seville Airport to the city centre.

The EA line covers the route in about 35 minutes. Its final destination is the Plaza de Armas in the city centre. It also has intermediate stops at strategic points like the Santa Justa train station.

Tickets cost 5 euros for one trip or 6 euros for round trip tickets (for the same or next day). The bus runs from 4:30 a.m. to 00:05 a.m . to the centre of Seville.

You can buy your ticket at the ticket office in the Airport’s Arrivals hall, at the vending machines inside the hall, or the machines near the bus stop. You can also buy the ticket on the bus in cash or by credit card.

  • Price: 5 euros. 6 euros round trip
  • Travel time: approximately 35 minutes
  • Stops: Kansas City, Santa Justa station, Luis de Morales, San Bernardo, Avenida Carlos V, Paseo de Colón, and Plaza de Armas.

2. Taxi, comfortable and fast

At the exit of the arrivals terminal, you will find the cab rank. They take you downtown in 15 – 20 minutes, and all companies apply the fixed airport rate. On weekdays, the fixed rate is 24,98€, and on weekends, holidays, and working days (from 21:00 to 07:00 h), the fixed rate is 27,84€.

3. Uber and Cabify

The two applications are pretty simple to use and offer the convenience, through their application, of requesting a vehicle by tracking its location in real-time. This way, you can know the estimated waiting time.

This type of service is sometimes cheaper than taxis , and the Uber and Cabify apps allow you to see the estimated cost of the trip and choose from different vehicle categories.

The only drawback of these services is that meeting the driver for airport arrivals can be a hassle. Specific stops are enabled. You can find them with a VTC sign in the Airport terminal’s Parking for Authorized Vehicles Area.

4. Private shuttle service, premium service and the most comfortable way

Another option to get from Seville airport to the city centre is a private transfer service. This is the most comfortable but also the most expensive way.

It can cost you between 32 and 36 euros for a 4-passenger vehicle and 57 euros for an 8-passenger vehicle. You can check offers here:

– Private transfers Seville airport – downtown

5. Rental cars, flexibility to travel around the region

Renting a car at the Airport is easy. The main companies in the sector have offices in their facilities.

If you only plan to go to the city centre, renting a car does not make sense . There are plenty of things to do in Seville without using a car.

Renting a car is a good option if you plan to tour around Seville ; it will allow you to explore the area at your own pace and give you a lot of flexibility.

Getting from the Airport to the centre of Seville by car is simple. The way is well indicated.

Seville ’s San Pablo airport (SVQ) is located 10 km north-east of the city centre. To get from the airport to downtown, there are several options:

  • The bus line EA is the most affordable option (4€) and links the airport with the city center in 35 to 50 minutes.
  • Taking a taxi or private transfer is a very convenient alternative. You will be downtown in about 20 minutes. Expect to pay around 25€.
  • Renting a car is always an option, but keep in mind that you will most probably not need a car while in Seville.
  • There isn’t any train or metro connection between the airport and Seville’s center.

The public bus line EA (“Especial Aeropuerto”) links the airport with the city centre in 35 to 50 minutes. It runs everyday from 5:20am to 1:15am (airport to Seville) and from 4:30am to 12:30am (Seville to airport). There is one bus every 25-30 minutes. A one-way ticket costs 4€. A round-trip ticket (within the same day) costs 6€.

The EA bus line also stops at both Seville’s train (Santa Justa) and bus (Plaza de Armas) stations.

Unless you are going to/from the airport, avoid taking the EA bus line since it is almost 3 times more expensive than other buses within the city (4€ vs 1.4€)

Taxi is a very convenient way to get from Seville’s airport to downtown. The ride takes about 20 minutes and the prices are fixed for any transfer between the airport and the city as follows:

If you call for a taxi, you will be charged extra for the journey of the taxi to the pick up point.

Best rental car deals with Discover Cars

As with taxis, the trip from the airport to the city center by car takes about 20 minutes.

Keep in mind that although it is very easy to travel by car in between cities in Andalusia, getting into Seville’s city center can be quite stressful . The old town is a labyrinth of narrow one way streets (some of them very, very narrow), full of access and parking restrictions.

With that being said, if you are up for the challenge, make sure to look up a parking garage prior to your arrival, set it as destination in your GPS and go straight there. Expect to pay around 25€ per day for parking downtown.

If you are not planning to get out of the city, however, you will probably not need/want a car during your stay in Seville. Using taxis and/or public transport will end up being a cheaper option, since you will save money on parking and gas. Our recommendation would be not to rent a car on arrival and only do it when you are leaving the city.

Get to Seville from Airport Car Icon - Traveling in Spain

Having a car in Andalusia gives you quite a bit of freedom while making the most of your time. There are many rental car companies operating at Seville’s airport and the Santa Justa train station, both international and local.

Generally speaking, rental cars are quite affordable in the region and the roads are in good condition. To find the best deals on rental cars, we recommend Discover Cars , which searches through the web for the best prices.

Uber is operating in Seville. However, there are not that many drivers which can mean long waiting times. You will usually save a little bit in comparison to taxis, but it might not be worth the wait.

There are several transfer companies offering both private and shared transfers between the airport and the city center. You can find a list of options here .

How to Get from Seville Airport to City Center

Seville Airport (SVQ) › Transportation

Transit Options from Seville Airport to City Center

San Pablo Airport lies close to downtown Seville, within a 10-km/6-mile distance. Thus, travelers, who opt for a Seville airport taxi ride, a private airport transfer , or an independent car rental journey, will reach their destination in around 20 minutes under normal traffic conditions. In contrast, the airport’s public connections to Seville are limited. Verily, only the Seville airport bus (AE) travels from Seville Airport to downtown.

Seville Airport to City Center by Taxi

Seville airport taxis are a tried and tested transit way to get from Sevilla Airport to city center. They are always available at SVQ Airport, lining up at the taxi rank lying just opposite the terminal’s Ground floor (on the Arrivals level). Although they are overall reliable, some scamming incidents occur during airport rides from time to time. Therefore, it is crucial to catch your cab from the official taxi stand and never trust individual drivers who may approach you after collecting your luggage at the baggage claim area. In any case, licensed Seville airport taxis are white and have a yellow diagonal stripe and the city’s shield on their back door. On the opposite side, they show their license number, while their rates must also be clearly displayed. What’s more, they have the distinctive “Taxi” light on their roof and are equipped with a taximeter.

Seville cabs are metered. Still, they have set fares when it comes to airport rides. Thus, from 07:00 am to 09:00 pm on weekdays, Rate 4 applies, and rides from Seville Airport to city center cost 24.98€/27.30$. On the other hand, night journeys (from 09:00 pm to 07:00 am) and rides on weekends and public holidays are charged at 27.84€/30.41$ (Rate 5).

No extra charges are levied on airport rides.

Hence, you won’t be charged extra for luggage, night rides, or journeys to Santa Justa Station. In contrast, if you call for your cab, you’ll pay the cost of the ride (according to the taximeter) from the location where the taxi driver accepts the ride to the pick-up point at the airport. Payments can be made in cash or via a bank card. Nevertheless, many Seville airport taxis aren’t equipped with POS. What’s more, many drivers claim that their POS is out of order to get paid in cash. Hence, you should let the driver know that you intend to use a credit/debit card before beginning the ride. In any case, tipping is optional.

The ride from Sevilla Airport to city center lasts around 18-25 minutes. Still, during peak hours (for instance, from 07:30 am to 09:00 am, from 02:00 pm to 03:00 pm, and from 06:00 pm to 08:00 pm on weekdays), the journey to downtown may last up to 40 minutes, depending on your journey’s end. Please keep in mind that many Seville airport taxi drivers don’t speak English fluently. Therefore, you should have your destination’s name or address written down.

Our Tip: Please note that different fares apply during the Holy Week. Thus, Rate 5 (27.84€/30.41$) applies from 07:00 am to 09:00 pm, and Rate 9 (34.79€/38$) from 09:00 pm to 07:00 am. On the other hand, journeys on Fair April from 07:00 am to 08:00 pm are priced according to Rate 5, and rides from 08:00 pm to 07:00 am based on Rate 9. Finally, Rate 5 applies on December 24 and 31.

Seville Airport to City Center by Bus

The only public transit option from Seville Airport to downtown is the bus . Indeed, the Seville Airport Bus -the AE Line (Especial Aeropuerto)- departs from the bus stop situated just outside the main exit door of Arrivals (on the Ground level), traveling to Seville. The bus runs from 05:20 am to 01:00 am at an around 15-minute frequency. Routes are scarcer during the night or in the early morning hours. The ride’s duration to the city center (for instance, to the Marques de Paradas or the Paseo de Las Delicias stops) is around 40 minutes. Please bear in mind that buses are dependent on the traffic levels.

As far as Seville airport bus fares are concerned, you can opt for a single ticket paying 4€/4.40$ or buy a return ticket at a 6€/6.55$ price. In both cases, tickets can’t be used on other bus or tram lines, while return tickets must be used on the same day of purchase. Children up to 3 years of age travel for free. You can buy your ticket onboard or from the automatic ticket machines lying close to the bus stop. Cash and card payments are accepted. However, if planning on paying with cash, you should have the exact amount of money or small bills, as drivers often don’t have enough change.

Our Tip:  Multi-trip cards are also valid for airport rides. Still, they aren’t sold at SVQ Airport.

Car Rental from Seville Airport to City Center

With a car rental, not only will you travel from Seville Airport to downtown stress-free, but you’ll also get to discover the magnificent Andalucian countryside at your own pace. Are you concerned about the cost added to your travel expenses? San Pablo Airport hosts various car rental companies, from international agencies to local providers. Therefore, if you check out your options, you’ll find a value-for-money alternative. Even more so, if you opt for an early-in-advance reservation, you’ll secure low prices and more available vehicle models.

Once getting behind the wheel, you should expect an 18-minute ride from Seville Airport to city center. However, if roads are congested, your journey’s duration may rise to even 40 minutes. When you reach your destination downtown, you’ll have to park your Seville car rental . Unfortunately, street parking downtown is a challenging task. Hence, if your hotel doesn’t provide parking services, you can use one of the underground parking lots scattered around the city center.

Moreover, private airport transfers aim at an utterly customized traveling experience. Thus, each and every detail of the ride -from the vehicle’s type to any add-ons such as luggage racks and child seats- is suited to the client’s requirements. Sevilla, the capital of Andalucia, is one of the most beautiful must see cities in the region. There are so many travellers coming to Seville searching for a cultural visit, a break in the sun, or simply a new city to explore. In this article I will provide you with a complete guide on how to get from Sevilla Airport to Sevilla city centre. We will cover all available options, private transfers and public transport, and help you choose the best transportation for your needs and budget.

How Far is Sevilla from Sevilla Airport?

A panoramic view of Espana Square in Sevilla on a cloudy day

Seville Airport is just outside the city limits, approximately 10 kilometres away from the centre of Seville. It takes around 20 minutes to travel between the Sevilla Airport and the city centre by car, and 35 minutes by bus.

There are several options available for travellers to Seville who are looking to travel from the airport to the city centre, including taxi, private and shared transfers, and public transport.

How to Travel From Sevilla Airport to Sevilla?

The easiest and fastest way to travel from Sevilla Airport to Sevilla city centre is by taxi. The journey from the airport to the centre of Sevilla takes around 20 minutes, and taxis are readily available at the taxi rank in front of the main terminal of the airport.

The trip from the airport to the centre costs 23 euros during the day, and 25 euros at night, between 9AM and 7AM. There is an extra cost that is applied on big holidays such as Easter or Feria de Abril, taking the fare to 31 euros. Prices are fixed but there are extra supplements for additional luggage or pets – There are no extra charges for guide dogs .

There are several taxi companies that are allowed to operate at the Sevilla Airport. You will recognise them by their colour, white with a yellow stripe on the back doors.

By Private Transfer

If you are travelling with a larger group of friends or family, or if you have heavy luggage, you may wish to book a private transfer ahead of time. The advantage of a private transfer is that the driver will be waiting for you with a name card in the arrivals hall, and will come with a car or minivan big enough for your group.

A private transfer is a convenient option to travel between Sevilla Airport and Sevilla. They do not charge extra for luggage and the fee is fixed, paid in advance when you make the booking. The driver will also help you with the luggage.

If you are travelling on a budget or prefer to use the public transport, the EA bus connects Sevilla Airport with the city centre, via the AVE train station. The bus stop at the airport is located just outside the terminal. The bus has a long operating schedule, you can catch one every half an hour. They break between 1AM-5AM. From the city centre, the first bus of the day is at 4:30AM.

The bus stops at various places around the city, including the Avenue Carlos V (for Jardines del Prado), Paseo Colon (For Torre del Oro), and finishes in Plaza de Armas.

Hiring a Car?

A close-up photo of a car's dashboard, with two hands holding the wheel. The photo has been taken at sunset, and the orange light makes it hard to see the road in front.

Hiring a car at Seville airport is also convenient option if you want to explore the local area and beyond at your own pace. There are several car rental companies located at the airport, including well-known international brands and local providers.

In order to hire a car you need a valid driving licence and a credit card in your name with enough credit for the deposit. It is advisable to book your rental car in advance if you are travelling to Sevilla during popular times of the year. Being a small airport, the rental car offer is much smaller than at Malaga Airport for example, which has literally thousands of rental cars at any time of the year.

Hiring a car at Sevilla Airport costs around 15-20 euros a day, once you add all the extra insurances, which I highly recommend you take. I can’t even count how many times I found my car bumped or scratched in the supermarket car park! However, you don’t have to buy this insurance from the rental agency, as they will try to oversell it. I usually book my rental cars through Holiday Extras, which show me all the costs upfront. If a car is advertised at 2 euros a day, it will never be 2 euros a day! I also choose to buy the extra insurance through Holiday Extras as well, because it’s a fraction of the price the rental agency would charge me. This means that I will have to pay the deposit for the car on my credit card, but if something happens, I will get it back and Holiday Extras will deal with the rental agency.

Bus: Seville has a great network of buses. Most buses depart from Puerta de Jeres (south of city center) or Plaza Ponce de Leon (east of city center). The Plaza de las Armas is mainly a bus station to travel to other Spanish cities and from the bus station Prado de San Sebastián the local buses depart. Bus tickets are available from the driver (from € 1.30) or in a kiosk. City buses C1, C2, C3 and C4 run in, through and around the center. More information on busses of Tussam

4. With a rental car: Are you going to make a tour through Andalusia? There is a good chance that you will start your trip in Seville or Málaga. We have very positive experiences with car rental at the airport through DiscoverCars.com . If you have a rental car, you should make sure that you book a hotel on the outskirts of the city with parking. In large parts of the old center you prefer not to drive a car. Good hotels with parking are for example Hospes Las Casas Del Rey De Baeza and Eurostars Guadalquivir . You can search at DiscoverCars.com for your rental car using the search engine below:

Arriving & Departing: Seville Airport (SVQ)

Plaza de España Sevilla

The airport is often the most dreaded part of the travel experience. Not only is there a risk of long queues and flight delays, but there’s also the issue of actually making it to the airport on time. To make your stay in Seville as enjoyable as possible for the entire duration of the trip, here is a guide on transportation options for Seville Airport (alternatively known as San Pablo Airport) so you can plan accordingly.

By far the quickest way to travel between the airport and city centre is via taxi. Taking about 30 minutes depending on traffic, taxi fares are usually between €20-25. The main website for Seville Airport indicates that three taxi companies are operating on site (Radiotaxi Giralda, Radiotaxi and Teletaxi), so when ordering a cab from your destination, it might be best to stick with those companies.

The cheapest option to get to and from the airport is by airport bus. It takes about 30 minutes from the city centre, and buses run daily to the airport from 4:30 am to 12:30 am. From the airport to the city centre, the buses run from 5:20 am to 1:15 am. Go With Oh has outlined all the stops: Airport, Kansas City, Estación de Santa Justa (train station), Lluis de Morales, S. Bernardo, Avenida Carlos V./Jardines del Prado de San Sebastián, Paseo Colón, Estación de Plaza de Armas (bus station). Jardines del Prado is the most central of all stops.

For those with car rentals or friends dropping them off, Seville Airport is accessible by the motorway A-4/E-5. If you’re heading in the direction of Córdoba – Madrid, take exit 533. If you’re following Córdoba – Seville, then take exit 532.

There are lots of options for parking at SVQ. Short and medium stay options (up to 6 days) are about 2 to 3 minutes away from the terminal, while long stay is about a 6-minute walk. For travellers that choose valet parking, their cars will be parked in the reserved spaces in front of departures and arrivals. While this is as extensive as most airport parking facilities go, there are lots of major airports that have partnered with nearby hotels to offer hotel stay and parking options. In destinations like London, Parking4Less indicates that Gatwick Airport has collaborated with airport hotels for Gatwick parking packages tailored to passengers needs. Seville Airport currently doesn’t have that setup, though onsite parking is generally quite affordable and within walking distance to the terminal. The hope is in the coming 12-months that Seville Airport will follow London’s lead and engage in partnerships with nearby hotels to give frequent flyers affordable and practical options for onsite accommodation especially if they are arriving late to the airport or first thing in the morning and are in need of rest before a long flight or drive.

Where to stay in Seville, Andalucia's striking capital

Stylish, good value and exuding Andalucian charm, the hotel scene in this southern Spanish city make it a winning weekend break.

Seville is one of Europe’s most handsome cities, with centuries of alternating architectural influences giving it a style all its own. Today, the Spanish city’s labyrinthine medieval barrios   (neighbourhoods)   are home to an increasing number of charming boutique hotels, which reflect Seville’s Moorish and Christian heritage alongside its artistic and musical obsessions.

1. Nobu Hotel Sevilla

Seville’s aesthetic history has been all about the blending of cultures, with Islamic and Christian influences sitting alongside contemporary architecture in the city centre. Nobu Hotel Sevilla followed in this tradition when it opened in the Spanish city in April 2023, taking on an elegant townhouse conversion and consciously blending Andalucian craftsmanship with contemporary design and the brand’s signature Japanese minimalism.

The 25 guest rooms are furnished with mid-century armchairs, mirrors and coffee tables. Sleek grey-marble bathrooms with freestanding tubs betray the Japanese influence, while period features from the building’s early-20th-century heyday are retained in parquet floors and wood-panelled walls. There are unmistakably Andalucian features, too — particularly the geometric ceramics and Moorish wall niches in communal areas.

A view of the bar-side seating at a luxury hotel bar. The bottles behind the bar are arranged similar to Izakaya's in Japan

Naturally, the ultra-luxe hotel is also home to a Nobu restaurant, with the same fusion of Japanese and Andalucian influences. The signature dish is miso black cod, which diners can follow with a local dessert of churros dipped in liquid chocolate. Seville’s ancient history is represented, too: the restaurant is centred around a Roman wall, uncovered during the renovation. Nobu Sevilla’s location is also a selling point; it’s in Plaza de San Francisco, close to Seville’s famous cathedral and the bars of the 16th-century garden square, La Alameda. Then there’s the hotel’s rooftop garden; it’s an unbeatable place to relax, feet in the pool, glass in hand. From €285 (£244).

2. Hotel Amadeus

Inspired by Seville’s rich classical music heritage, this boutique hotel is housed in a group of lovingly converted 18th-century mansions in the Barrio de Santa Cruz — a photogenic warren of cobbled medieval streets around Seville Cathedral. The decor pays homage to history with hanging lanterns and walls adorned with azulejo tiles. Instruments such as harps and grand pianos also decorate courtyards and even some guest rooms. From €204 (£174), B & B.

3. Triana House

In the traditional riverside barrio of Triana, this beautiful hotel is set in a late-1700s residence. Opulent tilework is coupled with latticed screens evoking the Moorish windows of the Alhambra fortress in nearby Granada, while private terraces feel like the alcoves of the Plaza de España, a short walk away across the Guadalquivir River. From €179 (£153), B & B.

A penthouse room in a luxury hotel. The feature wall has an exposed brick finish whilst the rest is painted white to compliment the brown curtains which lead into the rooftop terrace.

4. Hotel Casa de Colón

This hotel combines a homely atmosphere with a great location in the Barrio de Santa Cruz, close to the Real Alcázar palace and the Flamenco Dance Museum. The rooms in this 19th-century building have a farmhouse feel, with rustic wooden furniture, antique dressers and exposed brick walls. The owners direct guests to the best local castizos (tapas bars). From €207 (£177).
