Can’t tell you if it was just the employee or this is how they operate. I have previous had great experiences with hop on and hop-offs. • Christinaisavela8 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles No1 tour in Athens It was a great experience! All the staff working on the red buses were helpful and the drivers were excellent at driving! We had two days and did all the lines (we bought a ticket for 48h for the lines Athens Piraeus and Beach Riviera ) so in this way we filled our time! A year ago we made the mistake of taking the Blue bus which then tempted us by saying that the Blue buses have cooperation with the Yellow buses with greater frequency .. the biggest mistake !! Indifferent staff, inattentive drivers and a below average tour and finally the frequency of the red bus was better! Read more Written May 2, 2024

  • micu2016 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Another great experience with hop-on hop-off buses. We purchased the three-day hop-on hop-off pass including Piraeus and Athens. We loved that we could split the days up and use the pass for two days prior to our cruise and one day after our cruise. The buses run frequently in Athens. For Piraeus, the buses run frequently when cruise ships are in port. On other days, the buses run in the afternoon. it wasn't an issue for us, but others may find it inconvenient. We had no complaints with the buses. The drivers were great, and the buses were clean. We have used hop-on hop-off buses in many locations around the world and highly recommend them to explore cities. Read more Written April 25, 2024
  • P226NYMaud 0 contributions 2.0 of 5 bubbles Adequate, we chose not to use to its fullest extent in Athens. We chose this bus line because the hotel recommended it to us. Not a great experience. Partly because Athens is so congested, it can take ages to travel from place to place by bus. The route loops back on itself a couple of times so can seem repetitive and drawn out but it is a good way of getting the lie of the land of course. You might be better off taking the underground and walking as the centre and tourist areas are quite close together, if able. The commentary is OK, but could be more extensive given the time spent dwelling in solid traffic on unattractive roads. The non-stop Greek music and repetitive adverts can get a little wearing. We bought the 2 day Athens plus Beach/Riviera line. Buy the Beach/Riviera line only if you want to lie on a beach or eat by the sea, otherwise there's not much to see but apartments, shops and construction on the journey. Also very very windy on the top deck (and exposed in rain) in early/late months so take something warm. We did have a great lunch (at Yalos) and then returned to Athens. On a Friday the journey took ages in the rush hour from 1600, not helped by chilly rain and uncomfortable seats. Rather grim. Depending on where you get on, the buses can get busy. While the departure times on the map/leaflet were helpful, some important instructions were lacking: - ear phones were not routinely offered when boarding for the first time (they're available on the buses dashboard). They're mono, so you only need to pop one in. - the free 'unlimited wifi' code is not evident anywhere (I never located it) - the right channel for the language you needed was not evident (had to ask) More notices inside the bus would help with the above. Lastly, very disappointed to learn that the plastic earphones are not recyclable and go to straight landfill (I was laughed at when I suggested this). How many earphones per year must that be across all the bus tour operators across the world? They need a sustainable option fast please. If you have time, check out the other operators before booking. Read more Written April 22, 2024
  • Kinkell 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles No sympathy when ticket stolen Quite like the hop on/off bus tours. I understand it’s important tho keep the paper ticket, but I was pick pocketed in Athens and my purse stolen out of my bag . In spite of documentary online evidence that we had a 3 day ticket and the date it commenced, absolutely no understanding of our situation . It was obvious we were still within out time period, but city sightseeing were adamant. Poor show Read more Written April 22, 2024
  • E3403WMheidic 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Good way to see the city. The driver was friendly. Routes were ok. Good way to decide which areas you'd like to visit/revisit. Thought it was inconvenient to keep switching busses for different routes or the driver's shift ended which required everyone to get off and on to another. The information through the ear set lacked luster in details. It could have been better. We didn't hate it. Headed back for the second day. Read more Written April 17, 2024

City Sightseeing Corfu Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour provided by City Sightseeing

The Mediterranean Traveller

How to Get Around Corfu By Bus

Corfu has an excellent bus service that will help you discover Corfu Town, reach its main beach resorts and explore the wider island.

There are two types of buses – the blue city buses and the green island-wide buses. Routes around the island fan out from Corfu Town.

Here’s everything you need to know about getting around Corfu by bus.

Corfu Blue Buses

Blue bus at Mitropolitou Methodiou bus stop.

Corfu City Buses are known localled as the ‘ blue buses ‘. These buses serving Corfu Town and the surrounding area including the airport, port, Benitses, Gouvia, Dassia, and Ipsos.

The buses are smaller and lower than the KTEL coaches, with more standing room (some are bendy-buses).

Probably the most useful to tourists is number 15 which travels between the airport, the port, the KTEL bus station, and San Rocco square.

The main routes are:

  • 2a Liston – Kanoni
  • 2b San Rocco – Port – Kefalomantouko
  • 4 San Rocco – Potamos – Evropouloi
  • 5 Mitropolitou Methodiou – Kynopiastes – Kouramades
  • 6 Mitropolitou Methodiou – Benitses
  • 7 San Rocco – Dassia – Ipsos
  • 8 San Rocco – Afra – Agios Ioannis
  • 10 Mitropolitou Methodiou – Achilleion
  • 11 San Rocco – Pelekas
  • 14 San Rocco – Kanalia – Kompitsi
  • 15 Airport – KTEL Bus Station – San Rocco – Port
  • 16 Port – Old Town
  • 17 – Port – Liston

You can see the timetables, routes, and updates on the Corfu City Bus website .

You can buy the tickets from the driver or before you get on the bus, either from a booth, self-service ticket machines (English is available), or a nearby kiosk. Tickets are slightly cheaper if you buy them before you get on the bus.

You can give them to the driver to validate or stamp them on the bus.

Tickets are €1.80 or €1.10 depending on the route.

You can only buy single tickets, not returns, however there is also a day ticket available for €5 which entitles you to unlimited travel on the city buses.

San Rocco Bus Stop

San Rocco is the main interchange for the city buses. This is where you will find the ticket machines and the ticket/information kiosk.

Not all lines stop/start here though – some leave from Mitropolitou Methodiou which is a short walk down the road. Ask at the kiosk if you’re unsure where to find your stop.

The bus stops are on a busy traffic junction and next to a small nondescript park. There aren’t any facilities (toilets, shop) and it’s not the nicest place to wait however the square is surrounded by cafes, ATMs, and shops.

Ticket kiosk in San Rocco Square.

Corfu Green Buses

The ‘Green Buses’ are the coaches (not always green – sometimes white!) who run routes from Corfu Town out around the island.

The main routes to North Corfu are:

  • A3 Roda – Acharavi
  • A4 – Kassiopi
  • A5 Barbati/Nisaki
  • A6 Afionas-Arillas
  • A7 Agios Georgios Pagon
  • A8 Avliotes
  • A9 Paleokastritsa
  • A10 Liapades
  • A11 Karousades
  • A12 Perithia-Loutses
  • A13 – Korakiana
  • A14 Sokraki
  • A15 Agios Panteleimon
  • A16 Makrades
  • A18 Armenades

The main routes to South Corfu are:

  • B3 Spartera
  • B5 Agios Georgios South
  • B7 Messonghi
  • B8 Agios Matheos
  • B10 Agios Gordios
  • B11 Boukari
  • B13 Strogili
  • B14 Sinarades
  • B15 Aqualand
  • B16 Ermones
  • B17 Glyfada
  • B18 Giannades
  • B19 Marathias

Summer Specials

In high season months (July, August, start of September) there may be additional routes that connect some of the more popular beach resorts as well as the waterpark. These are known as Summer Specials and they are not guaranteed.

Some of the typical summer special routes include:

  • S1 Agios Georgios Pagon – Sidari
  • S2 Agios Gordios – Paleokastritsa
  • S4 Paleokastritsa – Glyfada
  • S5 Sidari – Roda – Acharavi – Kassiopi
  • S6  Nissaki – Paleokastritsa
  • S7 Ipsos – Kavos
  • S8 Kassiopi – Paleokastritsa
  • S9 Kavos – Marathias
  • S10 Agios Georgios Pagon – Paleokastritsa
  • S11 Messonghi – Glyfada

You can buy tickets on the bus (there’s usually a conductor on board with change) and also from kiosks and stores.

You can find timetables, prices, and updates on the KTEL Green Buses website.   The website is usually accurate but best check locally before making plans (especially if they involve Summer Specials which can be subject to adaptations). Updated timetables are usually printed out and taped near the bus stop.

Printed bus timetable in Kassiopi.

KTEL Green Bus Station

The main KTEL Green Bus station is a 15-minute walk from the centre of Corfu Town (but you can reach it on the Blue Bus number 15). Some lines call at San Rocco on their way north. They will also make several stops along the main roads heading out of the city.

The bus station itself is a large modern terminal with A/C, a shop, a cafe, ticket counters, toilets and seating.

KTEL Green Bus Terminal, Corfu.
