Lewis Capaldi Will Bring the Heartbreak on New Album and Tour

Scottish singer-songwriter (and late-night Harry Styles texter ) Lewis Capaldi has officially announced his second album, Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent , which will arrive May 19, 2023, on Capitol Records.

The album follows Capaldi’s hugely successful 2019 debut, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent , which featured the musician’s breakthrough single, “Someone You Loved.” A full track list for Broken by Desire hasn’t been released yet, but it will feature Capaldi’s latest single, “Forget Me” (which recently got a goofy video based entirely on the classic Wham! clip for “Club Tropicana”).

To make Broken by Desire , Capaldi reunited with the songwriting/production trio, TMS, as well as Phil Plested, both of whom he worked with on Divinely Uninspired . The new record also features contributions from pop’s most indomitable hitmaker, Max Martin.

Newly crowned “America’s Sweetheart” after nabbing the No.1 spot on Billboar d’s Hot 100, Lewis Capaldi has announced a joint US tour with Irish singer-songwriter Niall Horan in spring of 2020.

The Scottish singer-songwriter Capaldi will be hitting the road with his friend Horan on the ‘Nice To Meet Ya’ arena tour starting on 20 April at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville followed by a string of North American dates, including the MGM arena in Las Vegas and wrapping up the tour on 20 May in San Jose, California.

The tour takes its name from Horan’s hit single, ‘Nice To Meet Ya’, released earlier this month.

Horan has confirmed more dates will be announced soon and tickets for the tour go on sale 8 November. The duo will also be joined by American singer, Fletcher, as the opening act.

“This is so exciting!! I’m going back on the road and this time I’m going with my best friend in the whole wide world Lewis Capaldi and the beautiful Fletcher,” Horan tweeted.

Capaldi recently made headlines after hitting No.1 yesterday with his moving ballad, ‘Someone You Loved’.

The two singer-songwriters also recently appeared in a hilarious video for Glamour magazine, where they took the “Ultimate Friendship Test”, and talked about how they met and supporting each other’s music.

Lewis Capaldi Announces Long-Awaited Sophomore Album & World Tour

Lewis Capaldi has announced his new album, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent . The singer-songwriter took to Instagram on October 18th to announce the name and release date of his long-awaited sophomore album.

When the album drops on May 19th, 2023, it will be the follow-up to his 2019 debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent .

Fans were excited to hear of the album announcement as Capaldi hadn't released new material in nearly three years by the time his single "Forget Me" arrived on September 9th, 2022. Earlier this year, Capaldi explained why he hadn't released a follow-up to his debut album. "I just want to say now," the Scottish hitmaker told the crowd at Latitude 2022 this summer . "I have no new music to play you." Capaldi continued, "I rescheduled a lot of shows last year because I was like, ‘Guys, I need to finish my new album’. And I was supposed to do it, but I am horribly lazy.”

In addition to the album announcement, Capaldi also revealed he will be embarking on a 2023 World Tour. Fans who pre-order Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent will receive limited signed copies and a pre-sale access code for the tour. Capaldi will kick off his US tour dates in Nashville, Tennessee on March 30th and conclude in Houston, Texas on May 11th before heading to Australia.

Lewis Capaldi cancels all upcoming shows to ‘rest and recover’ ahead of Glastonbury

Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi announced Monday that he will “cancel all commitments” until he plays England’s Glastonbury music festival on June 24.

Capaldi kicked off the Broken by Desire to be Heavenly Sent global tour in January ahead of his sophomore album “Broken By Desire to Be Heavenly Sent,” which was released in May.

The 26-year-old said that while the tour has been “beyond anything I could have ever dreamed of,” he has been “full on both mentally and physically.”

“I need to take a moment to rest and recover, to be at my best and ready for Glastonbury and all of the other incredible shows coming up so that I’m able to continue doing what I love for a long time to come,” Capaldi said. “I need to take these three weeks to be Lewis from Glasgow for a bit, spend some time with my family and friends and do normal life things that are an important part of me feeling better.”

The “Before You Go” singer was scheduled to perform various shows in Glasgow, Dublin, London and Norway before taking the stage at Glastonbury, which is scheduled for June 20-25.

“I haven’t been home properly since Christmas and at the moment I’m struggling to get to grips with it all,” he said.

He apologized and expressed his gratitude for fans’ support in a message posted to Instagram and Twitter . .

“I know many of you will have spent money on travel or hotels, which I appreciate more than ever with how difficult things are economically at the moment, so I’m extremely sorry for the impact this will have. The fact you’re willing to come out and spend your time, money and love on these shows is beyond comprehension and I feel incredibly lucky,” he said.

Whether fans will receive a refund for their tickets is unclear.

“I’m getting all the help and support I need from the incredible people around me who I’m so grateful for,” he wrote. “I take none of this for granted and can’t wait to be back doing it again.”

Capaldi has been open about how taxing his life of stardom has been. He said the pressure of songwriting and impostor syndrome contribute to the twitch associated with his newly diagnosed Tourette syndrome .

In “How I’m Feeling Now,” the Netflix documentary about Capaldi, he said his twiches are at times accompanied by panic attacks in which he “can’t breathe, I can’t feel breath going in. I get dizzy, I feel like something’s happening in my head and I’m sweating. ... My whole body starts to do what my shoulder does and I’m convulsing. Either I feel like I’m going to be stuck like that forever or I’m going to die.”

He told The Times of London in April that there’s a “trade-off” of making and playing music and that the physical and mental effort was “worth it.”

“But if it gets to a point where I’m doing irreparable damage to myself, I’ll quit,” he said. “I hate hyperbole but it is a very real possibility that I will have to pack music in.”

Fans help Lewis Capaldi finish song after he loses his voice during emotional Glastonbury set

"If this is the only time I ever get to experience it, I'm telling you, it's more than enough."

Lewis Capaldi faced an unexpected challenge at the 2023 Glastonbury Festival this weekend when he lost his voice during an emotional performance.

The musician, known for his soulful delivery, pressed on despite the setback as fans cheered and helped him finish the last song in his stirring one-hour set. Repeatedly apologizing to the audience, the Scottish singer thanked them for their support.

"I really apologize. You've all come out and my voice is really packing in," he said. "We're gonna play two more songs if that's cool, even if I can't hit all the notes."

As his band played "Someone You Love," Capaldi stopped singing and took a backseat, letting fans fill in for him.

The 26-year-old artist was visibly moved as he walked off the stage afterwards, telling the crowd, "I freaking dreamed about this, man! If this is the only time I ever get to experience it, I'm telling you, it's more than enough."

The difficult yet heartfelt performance comes in the midst of Capaldi's public health struggles. He has been open about his battle with Tourette's syndrome, a condition that causes involuntary body movements and vocal outbursts.

He has also faced mental health issues, such as anxiety disorder. Earlier this month, while promoting his second album, Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, he announced he would be taking time to recuperate. In a statement posted on social media, he revealed he was canceling all of his tour dates leading up to Glastonbury.

"The last few months have been full-on both mentally and physically," he wrote. "I haven't been home properly since Christmas, and at the moment I am struggling to get to grips with it all. I need to take a moment to rest and recover, to be at my best and ready for Glastonbury, and all of the other incredible shows coming up so that I'm able to continue doing what I love for a long time to come."

Capaldi's condition was chronicled in the Netflix documentary Lewis Capaldi: How I'm Feeling Now, which was released in April.

At the conclusion of his Saturday show, Capaldi announced that he will be taking more time off to address his health. "I feel like I'll be taking another wee break over the next couple of weeks," he said. "So you probably won't see much of me for the rest of the year, maybe even. But when I do come back and when I do see you, I hope you're still up for watching us."
