Terrific customer service, RV experts

Our experience with Cruise Canada Vancouver was excellent from start to finish. We arrived at the depot several hours earlier than planned and Suresh met with us, he offered us an early check in and upgrade to a brand new larger RV. We were very excited about this offer and happily accepted. We began our seventeen day trip and covered 4200 Km without incident. We thoroughly enjoyed this trip in the RV and would highly recommend Cruise Canada to anyone thinking of embarking on a RV adventure. Thank you to the team at Delta CC who were very professional from start to finish. Cheers, Andrew & Lesley

Cruise Canada Were Fantastic

We rented a Motorhome/RV for two weeks from Cruise Canada collecting in Vancouver. I have to say from start to finish they were fantastic. We were met by the manager Suresh who had everything we pre-booked organised. He gave us a warm welcome and was very professional....I can't thank him enough. His staff were also excellent and gave us a thorough handover of the RV. The RV itself was great and had everything we could have asked for....impeccably presented and spotlessly clean. It was very modern and both well equipped and easy to drive. We returned the RV to the Cruise Canada Calgary depot who were also excellent and very efficient. I would thoroughly recommend Cruise Canada to anyone thinking of doing a Motorhome/RV trip. We toured Vancouver Island and the Rockies before returning to Calgary. The trip was one of the best I have ever done. So thank you Cruise Canada and particularly Suresh for outstanding customer service

10 best campervan & rv rentals in canada [2024].

Bradley Williams

We spent 4 months driving through Canada in our campervan, so we HIGHLY recommed it!

Canada is without a doubt one of the most beautiful countries in the world and it’s HUGE!

Covering an area of 9.9 million sq km, Canada is the second-largest country in the world after Russia, so as you can imagine there’s plenty to see.

Hiring an RV or campervan is easily the BEST way to explore , as you can take your time and create the perfect Canada itinerary.

You’ll also be able to explore off-the-beaten-track destinations that public transport doesn’t reach, and you won’t have to fork out for accommodation either.

As it’s such a popular way to explore the country, you’ll find plenty of RV rentals in Canada. To quicken your search I’ve handpicked the best ones.

So, let’s take a look at the BEST campervan and RV rental companies in Canada!

Travellerspoint

How to book your chosen Rental

If you’re planning to rent an RV in Canada, then I’d recommend using GoSee Travel .

GoSee campervan hire Canada

GoSee is a price comparison site that will help you find the best rental packages in the country.

It also allows you to easily compare rental deals from a variety of RV rental companies, so you know which one is the cheapest.

The website is super easy to use, and will only show vehicle availability for the dates you enter - so there’s no confusion down the line.

Booking with GoSee comes with a tonne of benefits! Here are just a few of them:

  • An effortless booking system with no hidden charges or fees - this way you know exactly what you’re paying!
  • A 24/7 support team that is available to answer any questions or help with issues.
  • A Price Match Guarantee , so if you find your chosen vehicle cheaper elsewhere - GoSee will match it.
  • A Vehicle Guarantee so you won’t be let down if your rental company can’t provide a vehicle for whatever reason.

I’ve included links to GoSee where possible so you can find the best deals, and book your rental in confidence.

For more info, read our in-depth review of GoSee Travel (Motorhome Republic) .

Cruise Canada has the largest vehicle fleet in the country with around 1,500 vehicles available to hire so it’s guaranteed that you’ll find something suited to you.

However, one of the highlights of choosing Cruise Canada is that you can drive your RV into the United States if you’re looking to extend your road trip.

This makes them a fantastic option no matter whether you're looking to do a road trip of Quebec or Alaska !

Vehicles on offer:

There are four types of motorhome available to hire with Cruise Canada; the C19, C21, C25, and the C30.

  • Pick up/drop off location/s - Calgary & Vancouver
  • Price range - $$-$$$
  • Best suited for - small groups and families

Escape Campervans Canada Campervan and RV Rentals

Although Cruise Canada is the largest RV rental company in North America (along with Cruise America), Escape Campervans is the biggest campervan rental company.

They solely focus on small campervans and don’t rent out RVs which is great if you’re looking for a smaller vehicle.

Escape Campervans is one of the highest-rated rental companies in the country, and is known for its incredible customer support and experience.

They’re a great choice if you’re looking for RV rentals in Calgary or Vancouver, as each rental comes with 24/7 roadside assistance and one-way trip options.

Four additional drivers are also covered for FREE with Escape Campervans, and not many rental companies offer this!

Escape Campervans usually have five types of campervans available to hire, but only one of these is available in Canada.

The Big Sur sleeps up to five people and comes with plenty of storage space , so you’ll easily be able to fit all your belongings in this small camper.

It also comes with an optional rooftop sleeper and plenty of amenities.

4. CanaDream - One of the BEST RV rental companies in Canada

  • Pick up/drop off location/s - Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver & Whitehorse

Canadream RV Rentals Canada

If you’re looking for one-way RV rentals in Canada, then CanaDream is a great option!

There are plenty of depot locations throughout the country where you can drop your camper off, and you can also drive it into the United States for an additional fee.

Not only that, but CanaDream offers 24/7 roadside assistance and an app with trip planning tools so you can make the most of your time in Canada.

Each rental also includes a membership to the CanaDream Club which gives you exclusive discounts off RV parks and attractions up and down the country.

This rental company offers an early bird discount too so book your vehicle in advance if you can!

There are 10 different RVs available to hire with CanaDream, which range from 2 to 6 berths.

Each vehicle is custom built and is designed with space in mind, so there’s plenty of room for small families and groups to travel together.

Generally every vehicle will come with a furnace, toilet, and shower, but the larger the RV - the more campervan accessories you’ll get.

5. Fraserway RV - The largest independently owned RV rental company in Canada

  • Pick up/drop off location/s - Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Toronto, Vancouver & Whitehorse
  • Best suited for - families and groups of friends

Fraserway RV Rentals Canada

Fraserway is the largest independently owned RV rental company in Canada.

It has one of the biggest RV selections across the country , so you’ll have no trouble finding a vehicle that’s suited to you!

Aside from its extensive choice of campers, Fraserway also includes 5 million liability coverage at no extra cost.

You’ll also have FREE on-the-road support during your trip, and the option to do a one-way rental if you’d prefer.

Fraserway is known for their fantastic customer service so you're in good hands if you rent a vehicle through them!

Fraserway has a large selection of RVs and campers, with 11 different vehicles to choose from.

This ranges from truck campers to class A RVs, so there’s something for everyone.

Even better, no matter which rental vehicle you choose you’ll be getting a camper that’s under three years old.

As Fraserway offers such a variety of vehicles, the amenities will differ with each rental. Generally though, your RV will come with solar panels and an awning.

6. Owasco - Great option for large campervans and RVs

  • Pick up/drop off location/s - Ontario

Owasco Campervan Rentals Canda

Owasco is a great option if you’re planning to rent an RV in Ontario .

Two drivers are included with each rental, as well as basic public liability and collision insurance.

You’ll also get complimentary parking for one vehicle if you’re swapping to an RV, FREE roadside assistance, and free luggage storage.

Not only that, but Owasco offers travel throughout the United States for no extra fee!

The only thing to note is that Owasco specialises in large campervans and RVs, so if you’d prefer to drive something smaller it’s best to look elsewhere.

There’s also a minimum hire period (like with most rental companies), and you may need to purchase additional km packages.

Owasco has 7 different vehicles available to hire, and one large trailer.

They range from large campervans to Class A RVs, so there’s something for everyone - no matter your group size.

The smallest vehicle is the 19-foot van conversion that sleeps up to two people. The largest is the Class A RV, but the C30 motorhome sleeps more people.

7. Four Seasons - A more budget-friendly RV rental run through Fraserway

  • Pick up/drop off location/s - Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Toronto & Vancouver
  • Best suited for - couples and small groups

Four Seasons RV and Motorhomes For Rent Canada

Four Seasons is actually a budget-friendly branch of Fraserway and focuses on more economical rentals.

They offer a complimentary shuttle service to and from major airports if you’re flying into Canada which is always handy.

Each rental comes with basic insurance and 100km per night, so that’s something you’ll want to consider.

If you’re planning a huge road trip around Canada, you'll have to purchase extra mileage packages which will incur more costs.

There are also other extras that you can purchase including a bike rack, electric heaters, child booster seats, and GPS navigation systems.

Four Seasons is also a good future option if you're ever in need of Halifax RV rentals !

There are 5 different vehicles available to hire with Four Seasons ranging from a converted camper to a Class C motorhome.

The campervan is still relatively large though, so if you’d prefer a smaller vehicle it’s a good idea to check out the other rental companies in this guide.

However, it’s a great option for couples as it sleeps two people and comes with plenty of amenities.

No matter which vehicle you choose, it will be equipped with a stove, fridge, water heater, and a toilet.

8. Outdoor Travel - Offers an extensive range of large RVs

  • Best suited for - families and groups of friends

Outdoor Travel RV Rentals Canada

Outdoor Travel is a great choice if you’re looking to do a long road trip around Canada as they offer long-term rental discounts.

It’s also the perfect option if you’re looking to purchase an RV in the future as you’ll get a discount on a vehicle within a year of your trip.

Although this rental company is only located in Ontario, it’s still worth considering if you’re travelling as a large family or group.

They specialise in large RVs with space and comfort in mind, so you know you’re in for a great trip.

However, this company isn’t suitable for those looking for a small camper or who aren’t confident drivers as the vehicles are pretty big!

Outdoor Travel has 8 different vehicles available to hire ranging from Class A-C motorhomes.

They have 3 Class A motorhomes, 1 Class B, and 4 Class C so there are plenty of choices.

The largest vehicles sleep up to 8 people, whilst the smaller Class B RV sleeps up to 3 people.

No matter which one you choose, your motorhome will come with a queen bed, a fridge, a toilet, and a shower.

9. Karma Campervans - A great choice for budget RV rentals in Canada

Not only that, but the vehicles at Karma Campervans are 100% off-grid with solar power, so you’ll have access to power at all times during your trip.

They’ve also got a reasonable mileage allowance, as you can drive up to 200km per night. If you’d prefer more than that, there are extra packages available.

This rental company even offers dog-friendly camper vans so the whole family can come along!

Although Karma Campervans only has one type of campervan available, it has everything you could need.

Their Ford Transit campervan has plenty of amenities including a kitchen galley, a stove, USB outlets, and a foldable table.

Bedding is also included, as well as cooking accessories, folding camping chairs, and a built-in heater.

If you’re looking to rent a camper in Canada, then RVezy is one of the best options!

No matter your budget or size preference, this platform is guaranteed to have something to your liking.

RVezy offers a HUGE variety of vehicles ranging from small campervans to luxury RVs.

You’ll just need to check which amenities are included with each vehicle as this will differ with every rental.

Canada RV/Motorhome Hire FAQ

cruise canada rv reviews

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Canada?

When it comes to renting an RV in Canada, there are a couple of factors that will affect the price. This includes the age of the driver, the duration of your trip, and the class of your RV .

Generally though, you’re looking to pay between $70-$140 for a small campervan, and between $150-$250 per day for a large RV.

Car rentals in Canada tend to be much cheaper, but you'll also need to account for accommodation costs.

Do you need a special license to drive an RV in Canada?

In most cases you don’t need a special license to drive an RV, an international license is just fine.

However, if you’re planning to rent an RV that weighs over 26,000 pounds, is a Class A with no airbrake, or carries more than 16 people - extra requirements are needed!

How old do you have to be to rent an RV in Canada?

In Canada, you need to be 21 years of age to rent an RV, and you must have had your driving license for at least a year. You’ll also have to pay a young driver's surcharge.

Some companies will require you to be 25 or over, so it’s best to check the company's terms and conditions before you enquire.

Can you rent an RV in Canada and travel into the United States?

Some RV rental companies in Canada will allow you to explore the country and then travel into the United States.

This will all depend on whether the company has depot locations in America, as well as Canada. Companies that offer this include Cruise Canada and CanaDream, and some RV owners on sites like Outdoorsy will also allow this.

Can you camp anywhere in Canada?

The situation on camping anywhere in Canada is a bit hazy! Generally, the only legal place to park up overnight with an RV is on a campground, but don’t worry there are plenty of them.

Free wild camping is only available for Canadian residents and isn’t really suitable for RVs as some of the spots aren’t vehicle accessible.

Are you ready to explore Canada?

Now that you’ve got a rough idea of the best RV companies to choose from it’s time to start planning your trip!

Whether you’ve only got two weeks in Canada, or you’re road tripping the country for a couple of months - there are endless places to visit.

Some of the most popular spots within Canada include Montreal , Toronto , Vancouver , Niagara Falls , and Whistler.

However, the highlight of this beautiful country is its national parks! So, make sure you head to Banff National Park , Yoho, Jasper , and Algonquin as each of these places has so much to offer!

Also, if we decide not to take a chance on Cruise Canada, which other companies offer RVs through travel agents in the UK? I know we could book independently, but we would really like the reassurance of booking a package & having someone to help us with the arrangements.

All advice welcomed!

Here is a very recent review..and they are not good

https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowTopic-g154943-i81-k13034691-Cruise_canada_rv_rental-Vancouver_British_Columbia.html

Have you looked at Canadian Affair??? I believe they offer RV's as well.

You might also want to research whether you absolutely want an RV in the Rockies..again some very recent threads. It can be a good holiday but there are some real limitations especially with a larger vehicle.

How many people?? Why do you want to RV??

cruise canada rv reviews

Very good companies are Fraserway and Canadream. We rented from both of them so many times and never had problems.

If possible you'd rent via a travel agency iin UK. It is because of insurances and other points of law. But I don't know anything about UK, since we live in Germany.

Thanks, I'll take a better look at Canadian Affair. We're caravanners in the UK, so we like the flexibility to change location and cater for ourselves instead of having to eat out for every meal

cruise canada rv reviews

Do be aware that you will need to make camp site reservations months in advance.

Also free camping is not allowed in Canada’s National Parks, you have to be in a campground.

Please be aware that flexibility of changing campground locations in the Rockies is not that easy especially if you are looking for serviced sites as they can get booked up months in advance. I would suggest you really research this before you make a final decision - there are a lot of threads on these forums discussing this very situation (also look at the Canadian Rockies forum).

Hi Allison;

Canada has an entry requirement known as the “Electronic Travel Authorization”(eTA), for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air. Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid visa.

1. ONLY use the official Government of Canada website.

http://www.Canada.ca/eTA

3) The cost of an eTA is $7 Canadian. If you are asked to pay more, you are not using the official Government of Canada website.

4) The Government of Canada is NOT a travel agency. Its website does NOT offer tours, accommodations, or travel planning services. Beware of any website that offers such services along with an eTA.

5) Apply for an eTA as early as possible. Most are issued in a short period of time, while some others can take 2-3 MONTHS...sometimes longer.

6) Without a valid eTA, you WILL be denied boarding by the airline .

7) The eTA is NOT a Visa. It is only authorization to board a plane to Canada.

8) Even with an eTA, you *could* still be denied entry upon arrival in Canada, by Customs and/or Immigration.

9) An eTA is NOT required to enter Canada by land or sea – only if flying.

10) If approved, you will receive notice by email. Your eTA will be “electronically” attached to your passport.

11) Your eTA will remain valid for a period of 5 years, or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

12) If you have ever held Canadian citizenship DO NOT apply for an eTA. You must use your Canadian passport. If you no longer have a valid Canadian passport, you must apply for and receive a new Canadian passport, prior to travel.

Best Regards

if your intent on doing this i'd suggest sticking to the smaller rv campervans that Fraserway and some others offer. The issue with an rv is without a tow vehicle your going to be 'sightseeing' in a very oversized vehicle and at popular locations such as Lk Louise and many others parking will become a major hassle. Campsites tend to be far from what people imagine so think this thru carefully if its actually an advantage.

Since you are looking at 2021 you have a lot of time to learn about what to do for a successful trip to the Canadian Rcokies. Unless you find a Travel Agent that has already been and spend a lot of time on the Canadian Rockies forum https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowForum-g659487-i11598-Canadian_Rockies_Alberta.html you can do at least as good as any TA if not better as you just found out by looking at Trailfinders as they will likely steer you to products for which they can make a commission and if any of them including a stop at the Sun Peak ski resort you need to get out of that shop.

Editors Review

Targeting convenience through numerous branches and self-contained rentals, Cruise Canada RV Rental and Sales is part of the widely-recognized umbrella of Cruise America.

An extension of the employee-owned Cruise America, Cruise Canada carries the reputation of having multiple depots across the country. With branches in Calgary, Vancouver, Halifax, Montreal, and Toronto, the company provides one-way rental opportunities. Also, depending on the season, Cruise Canada offers different deals, including 1-night free stay for 4 nights or longer rentals and 25% discount on mileage.

The not-so-extensive fleet still keeps up with the competition as all motorhomes have self-contained features. Not only that, your furry friends are welcomed inside the motorhomes, making it suitable for pet owners. These units are functional but are not the newest models on offer. Plus, everyone around you will know you’re on a vacation because of the loud marketing exteriors. So, you go on a road trip while also acting as a moving commercial. On the brighter side, the unit extends to temporary housing and even commercial use.

At 19’, the Compact RV is ideal for couples but surprisingly accommodates a family of 3. Highlighting its sleek aerodynamic design, this rather petite unit can go faster but still uses less fuel. Parking is also a breeze. The interior layout is loaded facilities of a larger motorhome, from kitchen to bathroom and cab-over bed to dinette bed. Another unique feature that makes this small unit a charm is its high ceilings up to 6’6”. The Compact is not available in Halifax.

Standard RV

cruise canada rv reviews

A 5 berth traditional motorhome, this 25’ Class C furnishes a usual cabover bed, a permanent rear bed, and a convertible dinette bed. Also with a walk-through convenience, the unit allows you to access the living room area from the front seat. This traditional family motorhome has all the comforts of home. Available in all depots.

cruise canada rv reviews

The largest motorhome now sleeps 7, with all the facilities and comfort you need. For an added sleeping area, the unit provides a sofa sleeper that becomes a single bed. The added length allows a roomier, private rear bedroom with wardrobe. Also, there’s the large exterior storage for your extra stuff. Available in all depots.

Truck Camper

cruise canada rv reviews

The only truck camper on fleet, this 3 berth unit is recommended for those with a heart for adventures. Built with a Ford F150 XLT SuperCab and 5.0 Litre V8 Engine, this automatic motorhome makes roaming around rough roads more convenient. Inside, the U-shaped lounge alters into an extra bed, while the cab-over holds the permanent double bed. Available in Calgary and Vancouver only.

A minimum security deposit amounting to $500 via credit card is required upon departure, together with reservation deposit. The company offers insurance coverage for each rental, with up to $1,500 damage per occurrence as well as SLI amounting to 1M. Also, they provide expense reimbursement plan up to $3,000, in case of mechanical breakdown.

Reputation

As part of Cruise America, Cruise Canada appears to slightly absorb the mix reputation of the popular yet unlikely rental giant in the country. However, this does not necessarily mean that they are one and the same, and Cruise Canada continues to serve good rentals. Still, it is advisable to have a careful walk-around of the vehicle before checking out the unit. And, make sure to take pictures, just in case!

Cruise Canada could either make your trip worthwhile or the other way around. Still, their self-contained RVs, as well as numerous depots, are fantastic features.

The vehicle we hired was a 'standard' C25 - a 25 foot 'monster' based on a Ford 350 chassis. The first part of our trip was to drive to Niagara Falls, and I noticed that te vehicle was wandering a lot, hard to keep in a straight line. Being from the UK where we drive on the left, I thought it was just me being unfamiliar with the camber, etc.. However, my wife drove the second time, mainly on the 401/403 highways, and had the same problem, several times being pulled into the gutter at the side of the highway. As soon as we got past Toronto we switched to smaller roads as we were terrified taht we might causer an accident / be hit by a truck as the vehicle meandered from side to side.

As soon as we got to our destination (Stirling) we reported the problem. We were asked to take it to a local truck repair garage, who declared it was very near to unroadworthy and would need a lot of steering parts to repair it (dampers, I-beams, etc). The parts could not be sourced the same day, which was very revealing, suggesting these were not the usual faulty parts.

Eventually, after suggesting we drove the vehicle back to them (over 300km) to get a replacement, they brought one to us (and subsequently refunded 2 days hire charges).

What was very worrying was that the steering (an general vehicle condition) was obviously not properly checked prior to renting to us; the vehicle was almost unroadworthy and COULD have caused a serious accident.

So, LESSON LEARNED - always road test before you accept a vehicle from a rental centre!

' class=

Sorry you had that experience, and yes, we suggest people check over their rentals as best they can at pick up.

Although a road test is rarely an option at an airport or many other rental locations say, especially if you’re renting and heading straight off. Of course, if the vehicle turns out to be defective they will replace them, but its an inconvenience to wait or return it.

I suppose the other side of this is, reporting any faults when you hand them back, and the checks the remntal companies make. As far as I've seen its, check obvious damage, gas it, clean it and back out it goes unless its due a service, and maybe even then, back out!

I suspect checks between rentals are minimal, as you suggest. I reckon it is likely that this vehicle had been used continuously throughout the season, with no proper checks. When we rented it, it had done over 177,000 km (well over 100,000 miles), so one would hope it was regularly and properly serviced.

Sorry to hear about your experience.

Regrettably, you're not the first to comment on the state of a rental RV towards the end of the season. The only time we rented one, DH drove it in figure of 8s around the RV rental yard to get the hang of the steering, but if its full of other vehicles (not our case - we got the last one available - long story) you might not be able to do this. had there been anything very wrong with it, we would probable have noticed there and then.

As a general comment, it seems rental companies are holding onto their vehicles of all types for longer than they used to. this will mean that they have more wear and tear unless you get lucky with a new vehicle, of course.

cruise canada rv reviews

A 25 footer is a *small* motorhome on this side of the pond!

RVs in rental pools get terribly abused. I have looked at some for sale that had just 30,000 - 40,000 miles on them and they were very very "tired", as well as had problems like scrapes and dings and doors that wouldn't shut.

Any firm that rents a motorhome with 100,000 miles on it I would tend to label as "irresponsible". That is exceptionally high mileage and yes, due to renters hitting curbs, stuff in the road and taking bumps too fast, very well may have something seriously wrong with it's steering, undercarriage or drivetrain.

However, even though it was a bad experience, the company did respond, brought you another motorhome and refunded two days.

Was the replacement RV in good condition with less mileage?

Purchasing an RV gives you the freedom to explore the great outdoors in a home away from home—but you don’t need to own an RV to enjoy this experience. Many companies rent out RVs, allowing customers to try RV life before they buy or simply enjoy an RV vacation without the expense that comes with owning one. There are peer-to-peer companies that connect renters with RV owners as well as companies that rent out their own fleet of rigs.

Renting a rig can be a confusing experience to those new to RVing. There are various options to choose from, including towable pop-up tents, travel trailers, and drivable full-size class A motorhomes. Read on to learn more about some of the best RV rental companies in the country, and find out what to consider when renting an RV.

  • BEST OVERALL: Outdoorsy
  • RUNNER-UP: RVshare
  • BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK: Cruise America
  • BEST FOR CAMPERVANS: Escape Campervans
  • ALSO CONSIDER: El Monte RV

What to Consider When Choosing One of the Best RV Rental Companies

Understanding the differences among the various RV types, how their pricing works, and what insurance coverage a customer needs to drive one are all crucial factors when renting an RV. Below, potential RV renters can find out more about these and other factors to consider where to rent a camper or RV.

When choosing an RV rental service, customers will first want to consider what type of RV they want to rent. RVs fall into two categories: drivable motorhomes and towable campers. The main difference is that drivable RVs don’t need a tow vehicle, whereas towable ones do—though there are additional differences customers will want to consider when choosing the best type of RV for their trip.

  • Class A motorhomes are the largest drivable motorhome rental options. They are capable of accommodating large families due to their spaciousness, and they include kitchens that have full-size appliances. Many have multiple slide-outs that expand the living space once they’re parked at their destination. At up to 45 feet long, they are also quite large, which can make them more difficult to drive than other RV types.
  • Class C motorhomes , which are built on a truck chassis, offer many of the same amenities as a Class A motorhome but on a much smaller scale. They are also easier to drive than their larger motorhome counterparts.
  • Better known as campervans, Class B motorhomes are less spacious than Class A and C motorhomes and have fewer amenities. However, they’re the easiest to drive and get much better gas mileage than Class A or Class C motorhomes.
  • Per their name, towable RVs require a tow vehicle—typically either a pickup truck or an SUV. They range in size from small pop-up campers with modest tent-like accommodations all the way up to large 45-foot-long fifth-wheel trailers that offer a spacious climate-controlled living area with multiple sleeping areas, ample storage, running water, and electricity.

Availability

When considering an RV rental company, customers will want to look carefully at its locations and availability. While some RV rental companies have RV campers for rent throughout the country, some may only serve major cities. Customers can usually find a greater selection of RVs through national peer-to-peer networks, which connect RV private owners throughout the country to renters. RV companies that own their own fleet may not have as much availability throughout the country. Customers will also want to keep in mind that it’s more difficult to rent an RV during peak periods, which is from mid-July to mid-August.

Peer-to-peer companies also have a broad variety of RV types available that include both towable and drivable RVs. RV companies that rent out their own fleet of rigs usually offer only Class B and Class C motorhomes. Customers can search online for “recreational vehicles for rent near me” to see what options are available close to home.

RV Pickup, Drop-off, and Delivery

Customers will want to consider how they’d like to receive their RV when choosing a rental company. Some rental companies require their customers to pick up the RV at a specific location, while others will deliver their RVs to their customers—typically for an additional fee. If the customer is planning on using the RV for a specific trip, such as to a national park, they will want to look for RV rental companies with locations that suit their itinerary. Some, but not all RV rental companies, allow for a one-way RV rental in which the customer picks up the RV at one location then drops it off at a different location when the trip concludes.

Pricing and Fees

While pricing and fees vary from RV rental company to RV rental company, all of them generally use the same system. Customers are charged a nightly fee for the RV plus an additional fee for mileage. Generally speaking, pop-up tents are the most affordable campers to rent, while Class A motorhomes are the most expensive. On average, customers can expect to pay between $155 and $215 per night for an RV that sleeps between five and seven people with a mileage rate that ranges between 35 cents and 50 cents per mile. There may also be additional fees if the renter chooses to have the RV delivered to them. Some companies may also charge a cleaning fee.

Some auto insurance policies may cover their customers when they rent an RV the same as they would for any car or moving truck rental. However, many insurance companies have limitations based on the weight of the RV, the number of wheels that it has, and how long the RV is being rented. If the RV rental exceeds those limitations, the customer may need to purchase additional temporary insurance to ensure they’re adequately covered. Keeping this in mind, customers will want to call their insurance company prior to renting an RV to determine what coverage they have and purchase more if needed. Most insurance companies offer coverage plans that range from $300,000 to $1 million for liability insurance. It’s important for customers to get an adequate amount of RV insurance to cover accidents, liability, and other events while they’re on their road trip—in addition to liability coverage, this may include collision insurance (to cover damage to the vehicle caused by a collision with another vehicle or a stationary object, such as a light pole) and comprehensive insurance (to cover other types of damage to the RV, such as hail damage following a storm, vandalism, or a collision with an animal).

Roadside Assistance and Support

There’s always the chance for problems to occur with the RV during the journey even with a rig that’s well maintained. As such, customers will want to look carefully at the roadside assistance and support the rental company offers before making a reservation. A reputable RV rental company will offer 24/7 roadside assistance, assuring their customers aren’t left stranded somewhere in the event of a flat tire or mechanical problem.

Cancellation Policy

Most RV rental companies have a limited cancellation policy once customers make a reservation. Since these policies can vary, renters will want to pay careful attention to them to avoid losing money in the event they need to cancel or change their trip at the last minute. While most companies allow renters to cancel up to 7 days in advance, others require 14 days or more. Cancellation policies for peer-to-peer services usually vary from RV owner to RV owner, so customers will want to be mindful of the cancellation policy when using this type of RV rental company.

At-a-Glance Comparison

Our top picks.

Our top picks include both peer-to-peer recreational vehicle rental agencies as well as those that have their own rigs. All have multiple locations around the country and have good reputations with their customers.

Why It Made the Cut: Outdoorsy offers all types of RVs, has availability throughout the country with delivery and pickup options, and boasts top-notch customer reviews.

With its ability to deliver RVs right to its customer’s doorstep, a wide variety of RVs to choose from, and excellent ratings from customers, Outdoorsy is a top choice for customers looking for RV rentals. The nationwide company offers both towable and drivable RVs, giving customers across the country plenty of rental options to consider. Customers can also choose to pick up the RV or pay to have it delivered to their location, including their home or a campsite. Either way, the host will do an in-person key exchange so they can walk the customer through the RV and answer any questions they may have. Outdoorsy also offers 24/7 roadside assistance should a customer run into trouble while out on the road.

Outdoorsy is a peer-to-peer service, which means the customer’s rental experience can vary from one host to another. As such, renters will want to pay careful attention to the cancellation policy, which varies with each rental. However, Outdoorsy is well liked by its customers, with more than 90 percent rating it 5 out of 5 stars. Seeing these overwhelmingly positive reviews can give potential customers added peace of mind about renting an RV through Outdoorsy.

  • Cancellation policy: Varies by host

  • Reported 93 percent 5-star ratings
  • RV pickup and delivery options
  • Potentially strict cancellation policies

Why It Made the Cut: With its pickup and delivery options, nationwide availability, and last-minute rebooking assistance, RVshare is a top choice for peer-to-peer RV rentals.

RVshare offers a broad range of drivable and towable RVs ranging from pop-up tents to motorhomes and has exceptional customer service. Customers can either choose to pick up their RV or pay a modest fee to have it delivered to them. RVshare also offers last-minute rebooking assistance to those who need to cancel their reservation. The company’s booking team will help the customer find and book a similar RV for their preferred dates.

Before proceeding with a booking, RVshare customers will want to read the terms and conditions and pay careful attention to the fine print. Since RVshare is a peer-to-peer service, different RV owners will have different conditions for renting their rig, such as limiting the areas that the renter can drive. Similarly, each host’s cancellation policy may vary—and some may be quite strict—highlighting the importance of reading the fine print before booking an RV rental. However, since RVshare is one of the largest peer-to-peer RV rental services in the country, with rentals available in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., customers will have plenty of options to choose from when looking for the RV that best suits their travel needs.

  • Types of RVs: Class A, Class B, Class C, fifth wheel, toy hauler, travel trailer, pop-up
  • Availability: 50 states and Washington, D.C.

Why It Made the Cut: Cruise America boasts affordable pricing, a reliable fleet of vehicles, and a customer-friendly cancellation policy.

Those looking to rent an RV without spending a lot of money may want to consider Cruise America, which offers some of the most competitive pricing of any RV rental service. In addition to its low rates, the company frequently offers discounts and promotions that further cut the cost. The fleet of RVs includes four size options of Class C RVs and small travel rental trailers, though customers will want to be aware that amenities on Cruise America RVs are on the basic side with limited customization options, so they won’t find more upscale features such as retractable awnings, ovens, or folding steps. For those looking for low-cost RV rental, though, this is unlikely to be a concern.

Cruise America owns its fleet of rental RVs, so customers can count on them being professionally serviced and maintained. The company also has one of the more customer-friendly cancellation policies in the marketplace, allowing renters to cancel up to 7 days before their rental is scheduled to begin.

In addition, Cruise America customers can book one-way rentals between two of its 119 locations in the U.S. and Canada, making it ideal for customers who don’t plan to return to their starting point at the end of their trip. One-way rental customers may also benefit from a steeply discounted rental rate if their nearest Cruise America location needs to move an RV to another branch. In some cases, customers may even receive a discounted rate for booking a one-way rental.

  • Types of RVs: Large RV, standard RV, compact-plus RV, compact RV, adventure travel trailer
  • Availability: 39 states
  • Sample pricing: $134/night for large RV for 7 guests
  • Cancellation policy: Full refund up to 7 days before pickup
  • Relatively affordable pricing
  • Relatively generous cancellation policy
  • Regular professional RV maintenance
  • Somewhat limited RV customization options

Best for Campervans

Escape campervans.

Why It Made the Cut: Escape Campervans offers a fleet of colorfully painted and well-maintained campervans that come outfitted with numerous standard and optional amenities.

With its brightly colored fleet of well-equipped RVs, Escape Campervans is the go-to source for those looking to escape the city in a campervan. The company operates in 13 major cities across the U.S. and Canada, including New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Denver, and offers five different van models, all of which have brightly colored hand-painted artwork on their exteriors. Prospective customers will want to book early, as Escape has a very limited availability of each camper type at its locations. Additionally, Escape has restrictions on where customers can drive its campervans—for example, customers are not permitted to drive on unpaved or gravel roads and will be liable for any resulting damages. However, these restrictions won’t be a concern for those who plan on keeping to paved roads.

Along with the vans themselves, Escape Campervans also sells and rents various supplies and accessories (such as door canopies, electric kits, propane tanks, kitchen kits, picnic tables, booster seats, and roof sleepers), making it easy for customers to get everything they need for their trip from one location. Escape also offers regular discounts and promotions to help customers get the best deal on their campervan rental.

The company’s fleet of vans include such amenities as propane stoves, refrigerators, beds, pop-up tents, and water tanks with sinks. Each van also receives regular maintenance, reducing the odds the customers will experience mechanical problems during their trip. This isn’t always the case with peer-to-peer RV rental sites, so renting with Escape Campervans can provide customers with additional peace of mind.

  • Types of RVs: Campervans
  • Availability: 10 states
  • Sample pricing: $155/night for campervan for 5 guests
  • Cancellation policy: Full refund up to 15 days before pickup
  • Regular professional campervan maintenance
  • Generous discounts and promotions available
  • Wide variety of rental extras and accessories
  • Limited availability
  • Road restrictions limit travel area

Also Consider

El monte rv.

Why It Made the Cut: El Monte maintains its own fleet of RVs, including Class A motorhomes, many of which are less than a year old.

El Monte RV is another great option for those who live near one of its 28 locations. The RV rental company has depots in California and several major cities throughout the U.S. including Miami, Seattle, Dallas, and New York—there’s even one international El Monte RV located in Tokyo. El Monte only serves 11 states in total, though, and has a limited number of locations in some of those states, which could rule it out for those outside the company’s service area. However, the company offers one-way RV rental options, making it a good choice for those wanting to rent an RV for a road trip from point to point rather than returning to the original rental location.

Although rental options can be limited, El Monte is one of the only national companies to rent full-size Class A motorhomes in addition to Class B and Class C RVs. El Monte also owns its fleet of RVs, which means each vehicle receives regular professional maintenance, including a multi-point inspection after each rental, regular servicing, and professional cleaning. Additionally, most of El Monte’s RVs are a year old or less, making them even more reliable. The company also offers free generator use for every rental customer, which is a service that many RV rental companies charge additional fees for customers to use.

  • Types of RVs: Class A, Class B, Class C
  • Availability: 11 states
  • Sample pricing: $209/night for Class C RV for 6 guests
  • Cancellation policy: Nonrefundable $250 down payment
  • Free generator use with every rental
  • Somewhat limited RV selection

Our Verdict

With its nationwide coverage, broad range of RV types to choose from, and excellent customer satisfaction ratings, Outdoorsy ranks as the Best Overall RV rental business in the country. RVShare earns the Runner-Up award thanks to its broad collection of RV types to choose from.

How We Chose the Best RV Rental Companies

After reviewing numerous RV rental companies throughout the country, we assembled the above list using several criteria. We looked for companies with a national presence that make it easier for customers to find locations and accommodate their pickup and drop-off needs. All of our selections also offer competitive rates for their RV rentals. Since customer needs vary depending on the size of their family or group, we chose companies that offer a variety of different RV types with both large and small RVs for rent. Our list includes a mix of peer-to-peer companies, which offer a wide variety of RVs along with companies that own and maintain their own fleet of RVs to suit different preferences.

Before You Use One of the Best RV Rental Companies

There are a few factors customers will want to consider before renting an RV. Campgrounds can accommodate RVs of different sizes and typically require a reservation. Customers will want to determine which campgrounds they’ll be visiting and make sure their RV rental fits the site. Customers will also want to keep in mind that RVs typically require additional accessories in order for them to use all the amenities. Gas stoves require a propane tank. If a customer wants to use electrical appliances, such as a refrigerator, they’ll need to take their RV to a campground that has electrical hookups or plan on renting or purchasing a generator to go with it. If a customer is renting a towable RV, they’ll want to keep in mind that they’ll need a vehicle with a hitch and towing capacity to suit the rig. Finally, customers will want to make sure they’re comfortable driving an RV, which is more difficult to maneuver and park than a car or truck.

The Cost of Using One of the Best RV Rental Companies

Rental RVs are priced on a per-night and per-mile basis. Costs can vary significantly depending on the size and type of RV and the time of year the customer is renting. Customers can expect to pay between $80 and $300 per night, plus between 35 and 50 cents per mile. So if customers rent an RV for a week at $150 per night ($1,050) and travel a total of 1,000 miles at 40 cents per mile ($400), they’ll pay a total of $1,450 plus taxes and fees for the rental. When calculating the total cost of their rental, customers will also want to factor in gas, keeping in mind that most RVs get much lower gas mileage than the average car or truck.

The Advantages of Using One of the Best RV Rental Companies

There are several good reasons for choosing a reputable RV rental company over a company that offers cheap RV rentals. The best RV companies give customers a broad range of RV sizes and types to choose from, and they have locations throughout the country. The best one-way RV rental companies also offer the option to book a point-to-point trip so the renter doesn’t need to return to their point of origin to turn in the vehicle. With one of the top RV rental companies, a customer will also know they’ll be renting an RV that’s reliable and well maintained and that the company’s customer support and roadside assistance is only a phone call away should they run into trouble. The best places to rent an RV offer the following perks:

  • A broad range of RV sizes and types to choose from;
  • Reliable rigs and 24/7 customer service and roadside assistance;
  • Pickup and drop-off locations around the country; and
  • The option to book a one-way trip.

If a customer is wondering when the best time is to rent an RV or whether they can book online, the following answers to these and other questions about RV rental companies can help them feel more confident in their choice to rent an RV.

With its many locations throughout the country, excellent reputation, and broad range of RV types to choose from, Outdoorsy has established itself as one of the most popular RV rental websites.

RV trailers, which come in teardrop, travel, and fifth-wheel varieties, are the most popular RV rentals on the market, due to their affordability and the fact that many Americans have pickup trucks and SUVs that are capable of towing them.

The best months to rent an RV are June and September, when demand is not as high and the weather is somewhat milder. Warmer months and school breaks make summer by far the most popular month for renting an RV. Mid-July to mid-August is peak RV rental time, making it much more difficult to rent an RV during this period when compared with other times of the year.

Depending on the size of the RV and time of year, a customer can expect to spend between $80 and $300 a night plus between 35 cent and 50 cents per mile to rent one. Since RVs cost anywhere from $10,000 to $400,000 to purchase, renting an RV can be a much more affordable alternative. In addition, RV insurance costs $848 a year on average. Although liability insurance is the only type of insurance an RV needs from a legal standpoint, owners may also decide that they want to buy extra coverage, such as comprehensive and collision insurance, which protects the vehicle itself. In addition, vacation liability RV insurance can protect RV owners against liabilities when the vehicle is parked at a designated campsite. While buying coverage from one of the best RV insurance providers may help keep costs down, these extra expenses make owning an RV even more expensive compared with renting a vehicle for individual trips.

Whether customers rent an RV for a weekend or several weeks, they can experience what owning an RV is like without having to commit to buying one. They’ll experience driving and setting up an RV, not to mention what it’s like living inside one, making it easier to determine whether they want to invest in owning an RV. It can also help them decide what type of rig suits their family or traveling group best. Customers can bring budget camper decor to help make the RV feel more like home.

You can book an RV online. Many of the best RV rental sites allow you to search for and choose the specific RV you want to rent and make reservations through their online portal.

RV Great service. Clean and well appointed RV. Smooth processes on departure and return Paul Reed , United Kingdom, posted on 22 October 2023, vendor was Fraserway RV Rental
Excellent Fraserway provided us with an excellent RV, it was almost new and we had no problems whatsoever as we explored the Canadian Rockies. The pick up service from Calgary airport was great. We were disappointed with the drop off at Vancouver with wait times of over one and a half hours to be taken to the airport (went by Uber as alternative) . I thought generally the Fraserway RVs seemed a little newer and better than alternatives such as Canadream. I would recommend them as a supplier for your RV holiday. Definitely choose motorvana again! Their team has been super helpful from day one, they took the time and care to fully answer the continuous stream of questions we had as a first time RV renter. Love that they are super transparent and honest, no hidden fees. Will definitely book back with motorvana for our next RV trip! Great trip Hired C class RV for 2. Although capable of sleeping 6 it would have been very crowded, 4 possible 2 perfect. Very clean and well appointed. Shuttle from Vancouver to Abbotsford pick up worked well although a little late! Rear view camera didn’t work properly. An irritation rather than a problem. Black and grey waste warning lights always showed tanks as full even after emptying, again and irritation rather than a problem. Instructions on pick up comprehensive with all questions clearly answered. Fuel consumption high, be warned. Take advantage of fuel stations and don’t let fuel get too low, there are some long distances and steep climbs between fuel stations. C-Class Large I picked up a c-class large which was the same as a medium with a pop-out which makes a massive difference when parked up. I drove from Calgary to Vancouver and it was great. Couple of tips, you don’t need to have a full water tank if you’re staying in camp sites with full hook-up. This saves weight and improved fuel consumption. RV was great but I had a faulty sat nav which meant I had to rely on my phone for navigation which cost me an extra £100 in data roaming charges, which was pretty irritating. Other than that a great experience. Ian W, England, posted on 12 September 2023, vendor was Fraserway RV Rental
The best way to see The Great North We rented a C-Small RV for two of us, and it was everything we were hoping for: comfortable, easy way of travelling, interesting driving experience, fun and cost-effective. We rented a deluxe van camper for 3 weeks to travel from Vancouver to Calgary and had an amazing time. Driving the van was easy and the instructions were clear. The rear view camera, park sensors and built-in navigation were perfect and made driving more relaxing. We do have a few small things that could have been better. - We paid extra for the Solis WiFi hotspot, but it was not working properly. First of all, when we departed it caused half an hour delay because the Hotspot had to be reset (CanaDream had to call the customer service, re-install the whole thing.. we were happy we checked before departure if the hotspot was working). When we were on the road, we could only use it with one device and a lot of times it was not working at all. As we are not from Canada, we didn't want to contact customer service because of the high costs of international calls. - The indicator lights of the black water tank did not function properly. After emptying, it would still indicate to be 2/3 full, so we had to guess when we had to empty the tanks. - Quality of dishcloth and sponge was awful, also the lighter did not function, they should've checked this beforehand. - The attachment points of the curtains were misplaced, so it was quite difficult to hang them properly. We do think all of these things should've been checked better, especially when you pay extra for extra services like a WiFi hotspot and kitchen linen. Despite these small things we did have an amazing holiday. CanaDream drop off in Calgary was arranged perfectly and easy to reach. M. Highly recommended! We had an excellent experiences with Fraserway 4 Seasons RV Rental. The shuttle and check-in/out went smoothly both way. Benjamin was very helpful in orienting us with the camper (C class - small) and in answering our numerous questions. The camper was like new and very clean; as were the utensils, pots and pans, bedding and such. The camper handled well on the road and the 'tow-load' option was especially useful on steep hills. We had only one minor problem en route (back up camera display needed to be reset) and it was quickly resolved with call to their personnel at the on-road support number. An wonderful trip made possible by Fraserway 4 Seasons RV Rental. Thank you! Oliver, Canada, posted on 28 July 2023, vendor was Fraserway RV Rental

FraserWay RV rental One way from Calgary to Vancouver What a simple and brilliant experience made so simple with Fraserway once booking was confirmed. Brand new rig (Truck/Camper) and had no issues what so ever. Economical F350 at 12.8km/100Km which was surprising for the power. Pickup and delivery via Shuttle made things very streamlined and quick. The Camper was very comfortable and spacious for the 2 of us. Only comments to make is the Duvets are single size and should be at least bed size. Only thing lacking was a grater as we were being self contained for several nights staying at campgrounds. I highly recommend Fraserway Rv rentals as they are very professional and detailed which gives you total piece of mind while venturing onto the unknown and driving on the wrong side of the road with totally different road code rules. Will definetly use them again. Eric Heynen, Auckland, New Zealand, posted on 12 July 2023, vendor was Fraserway RV Rental
Glad we returned to use their services Last year we used Fraserway via motorvana and we had a small one for 1 week, this year we decided we loved it so much that we booked 2 weeks and went for the medium size. The difference is amazing for us and having the separate proper bed at the back and proper shower cubicle was absolutely worth it. It was only a small amount extra than the small RV and we booked far in advance and made the most of the deal they had at the time. We will use them every time we return to Canada and will only have the medium size now even though there was only 2 of us. A30 RV Rockies Trip Shuttle was easy from Vancouver to Fraserway and the Check in process was easy but a bit slow. Motorhome overview was helpful, although they could have expanded on the fact that the Waste tank gauges are not always very accurate, ours often showed 33% after being emptied which was quite frustrating. The motorhome had everything we needed, our only comments would be that the duvet was a little small for the size of the bed, the bed was a great size and comfortable. The outside picnic chairs were low quality and very uncomfortable considering we had rented the top of the range RV. Kitchen fit out was very good. We had one issue with Road Side assist where we contacted them on the side of a busy freeway with a problem and they took 5 hours to get back to us. Luckily we had managed to sort out the problem ourselves and continued on our journey. Drop off was very easy at the end of the trip. Wonderful A very easy pickup in Vancouver. The camper van was excellent, in prime order and much admired whilst on the road especially as it did not look like a rental vehicle. The extra insurance (which we normally avoid by purchasing in the UK) was good value and the drop off in Canary was also seamless. The staff there were very helpful with our onward travel into the Rockies, giving us a free lift to the airport from where we took a bus. Thoroughly recommended. Perfect trip We had a bit of trouble with our initial contact with Fraser-Way....they get very busy with requests. So we did a google search and found Motorvana. All reports were positive and we sent in a request. They were quick to answer and we went ahead with a booking....within minutes they had a confirmation for us with Fraser-Way. The information provided by Motorvana seemed to contradict the initial offer.....and I called. And heavens I talked to a real person at Motorvana and they corrected the error and gave us a monetary 'sorry' with a small discount. The information Motorvana sent us was very comprensive and sure helped us organize our trip and eased our minds about our preparations. I of course worried that nothing would be there when we got to Whitehorse .... but Motorvana and Fraser-Way excelled. A shout out to Fraser-Way as well. The agents on site were strapped for staff and working like crazy but they had us in and checked out and were were on the road in only a couple of hours. The equipment...a large diesel truck and slide out camper were clean and very new and served our needs perfectly. We drove the Dempster Highway...return trip over 3000 kms and had no problems with the hire. We would use both companies again and would strongly recommend you do as well. No problems....and I mean none! PS...if you rent in Whitehorse and need to leave a vehicle they do not have space at the Fraser-way lot.....but beat this!! you can park at the airport (5 minutes) away in a security patrolled long term parking....for a mere $5 CDN a day. Excellent service From start to finish the service was excellent. We were especially impressed by the fantastic service we received from the Traveland RV team in Langley. They were extremely helpful, competent and friendly. When we arrived at our first campsite we realised that the bedding in the RV had been forgotten. A quick call to Traveland and they sorted us out immediately by telling us to purchase whatever was missing and later reimbursed us without any question. They also have a little storage area in their office where customers can borrow equipment/accessories that they might need and that were left by previous customers. When we returned we were able to leave things we had purchased and that the next customers might find of use (dishwashing liquid, plastic cups etc, barbeque grill etc). It was such a clever idea! We can highly recommend the Traveland team and would love to rent from them again in the future. Anja, York, UK, posted on 14 September 2019
Smooth booking start to finish It’s just over a year ago now that we returned from a lifetime dream holiday in Canada. I’d always wanted to tour the Rockies in an RV but the estimates we got initially were rather prohibitive! Then we found Motorvana and booked it for (if I remember correctly!) at least £1000 cheaper than a direct quote! Not sure how they do it! I was nervous tbh but the great reviews and speedy online replies were reassuring and Canadream treated us exactly the same as any other customer as far as I could tell. Cross Canada roadtrip What a fantastic trip of a lifetime we have experienced. From start to finish everything has run totally smoothly. After lots of research we booked through Motorvana, This company were faultless, they made everything super simple and gave us the best price, cheaper than booking direct with CanaDream, I know as I spent hours researching and checking prices online. Motorvana’s communication was spot on and they promptly replied to all my emails even the stupid question ones. On there Facebook page they posted unmissable places to visit on our Canada cross country tour. Our CanaDream motorhome was perfect for myself , partner our 10yr old and our 5yr old children. It was fully kitted out and was a dream to drive, which I was worried about as I have never driven a 28ft vehicle. Check in was easy at Vancouver, they did try to sell cleaning and extra insurance which I did not buy. I bought extra vehicle insurance through Motorvana, thankfully never needed it. After 5 weeks of travelling across Canada our drop off in Toronto was also very simple. I would highly recommend Motorvana and CanaDream and will be using Motorvana again when we plan our next journey across America. A wonderful holiday We recently returned from a wonderful holiday exploring Vancouver Island and the Sea to Sky highway in a 23 foot Ambassador RV. The 5 of us enjoyed lots of outdoor activities (hiking, swimming (ocean and lake), paddle boarding, climbing etc) and found the van to be a wonderful way to move around while living comfortably. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed barbecues and outside dining every day. The van exceeded all expectations and ensured we had a terrific time - staying mostly in state parks (pre-booked in the Spring - this is important as the fill up quickly) Everything in the van worked and was easy to access and understand. I can't speak highly enough of the people at Ambassador - warm, helpful and expert. We'd definitely do it again - with the same people of course. All best wishes to Anna and Jutta. Ok but check out tires and the mattress as rock hard Hi there, my wife and I recently rented a 22' van (Minnie Winnie) via Motorvana from Happy Holidays in Canada for 4 weeks. Overall we really enjoyed traveling around in the RV and it performed well mechanically. However I rated only an average rating as a few problems. The back wheels on the RV pretty much had no tread which I pointed out on return - would highly recommend future renters check this out on pick up - this was highly illegal and very dangerous particularly given we had some unexpected snow and ice which we had to drive on. Nothing happened (I drove slowly) but disappointing. Please be aware that all RV's use a lot of fuel so make sure you factor that into the costs (I think we averaged about 15L per 100km with normal highway driving and at CD$1.69/L - you have to fill up with the most expensive premium fuel it does cost a lot). The other issue we had were with the rock hard bed mattress (think a door and you are on the right track). This was very uncomfortable and didn't get any better even after 4 weeks of use. The good things about the RV were the heater (which we used daily as we had some early winter weather) and everything is easily accessible in one spot. A little surprising they have china plates and glass cups as I would have thought melamine plastic would be far more durable for traveling. Would definitely recommend renting a RV but probably would explore other companies even if it means paying a little more (particularly given the added costs of money and time involved in collecting and returning the RV to Gibsons Landing). By the way, I normally don't provide negative reviews but on this occasion, I thought it was important to alert other RV. Have fun because the Canadian Rockies are truly amazing place to travel and the Canadian people are some of the hospital and friendly people we have ever met. Mark, Australia, posted on 12 November 2018 Response from Motorvana: Happy Holidays replies: We would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review, as all feedback helps us improve our services. We have checked the maintenance log and the vehicle has since been sold with brand new tires. Our crew is usually very diligent and on top of things. Tires are checked and changed routinely. This must have been an oversight and we would like to apologize for that. As for the mattress, it seems to be a tricky issue. Some customers like them hard, some like them soft, but ultimately, we have no say in the choice of mattresses the manufacturer makes. For us, the review is disappointing, as we try very hard to give every customer the best product and service we can offer. On the other hand, it's also an incentive to work even harder. Should you ever decide to come back for another RV tour of BC, we would be glad to offer you a special discount to make it up to you.

Pick-up Vancouver, drop-off Calgary. All was perfectly arranged via Motorvana with the best price as well, despite booking a little late this year. Quick and easy contact with Freik - always at hand it seems to organise everything! Excellent customer service, great price. Great trip through Canada and the US over 5 weeks, but some equipment lacking. Campervan was modern and functioned well, but we were disappointed with the way it was equipped, particulalrly for renters from overseas (70% of their customers) who cant bring along some basic essentials. The personal kits ordered were inadequate and we had to go out and purchase a number of items many of which were included when we rented off Fraserway before. Examples: Axe, sharp knives, barbeque grill, cheese grater, toilet brush, wine glasses, etc. Also, bikes could not be rented from Canadream. Ambassador RV 3 week hire I booked the RV in February for September, and because many companies were booked up, I went to Motorvana who rapidly sorted out an RV for me via Ambassador RV of Vancouver. So Motorvana were, prompt, efficient and, in February, all looked great. Come September I picked up the RV from Ambassador and fantastically they were brilliant. The RV was exactly as described by Motorvana. It was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Ambassador RV were very professional and efficient, and gave all the time we needed for a good explanation and handover. They couldn't have been better. On the trip around BC the RV was excellent: everything worked perfectly. On the return, although they were very busy with several RVs returning at the same time, Ambassador's system was so efficient that the return procedure was still very personal and prompt. No hanging around. This was my first RV hire in BC and now I wouldn't go anywhere other than Ambassador to her an RV again. Fantastic! Motorvana good - Owasco disappointing Motorvana was very good and locking in the rate was a god send when the currency slipped the wrong way. I found contacting Motorvana simple and had quick replies. I was dubious about using a booking site, but really pleased. Owasco is a different story. Be careful about pick-up as the procedure took over 3hrs, the equipment in the van was missing various items and lots of broken equipment. When we found items missing from the van, the reply is 'buy the items and we will give you the money back'. This was fine, but should items not already been on the van, when you purchase an all inclusive package. When it comes to the vans, ours was a new 32ft Greyhawk by Jayco for 7 people. We were told his was new to the fleet, so got quite exited. What this actually meant, it was 3 years old and hey had just purchased it. I can hand on heart say that not quality checks were done on this van, so once we pointed out the door, shower door, missing TV, cables, gas bottles were missing, we final managed to leave after 3hrs. We are first time RV campers from the UK and the pick-up procedure was not slick or gave me confidence at all. Martin Purdy, UK, posted on 13 September 2016

Having met other people on our travels who had also rented an RV it became clear that some of them were poorly equipped when compared to ours. So basically, bring a bag of clothes and your wash bag and you are ready to go. The collection, explanation of the RV mechanical systems and the return all went very well. We had a great time in British Columbia and a large part of the success of our trip was because Motorvana and Happy Holidays Motorhomes are very good at what they do. I would highly recommend them to anyone planning a similar trip. Eamonn Holland, UK, posted on 23 August 2016
Just got back from two week vacation in Yukon. Had a fantastic time. Booking our camper truck went very smoothly and no problems at all. Professional folks The folks at Fraserway were very professional and well-organised. From the moment they picked us up at the airport (on short notice), to the quick registration and thorough orientation, right up until the very fast and efficient return process, they did a good job. The RV (23/25 motorhome) was almost new. It was a bit noisy driving across the windy prairies, so that you could not really talk or listen to the radio. The beds were comfortable and everything worked well in the unit. steve, USA, posted on 1 August 2016, vendor was Fraserway RV Rental

Motorhome Trip to the Rockies Our motorhome booking through Motorvana was smooth and easy and they were quick to answer any questions I had. After confirming my booking with them I realised I had made a mistake and without any hesitation they let me change the booking. Paperwork was emailed to me quickly and when the time came to pick up the motorhome I realised we were going to be a day late and Motorvana handled the changes for me with Canadream promptly and without any charges. The service was fantastic and I can't recommend them highly enough. Thank you Motorvana for looking after us so well. We wouldn't hesitate to use you for any future trips. West Canada My partner and I rented an RV through Motorvana from Fraserway. Motorvana were extremely helpful throughout the whole process, and were very understanding even when my card couldn't pay and payment got delayed. The RV from Fraserway was great - clean, worked well - and pick up and drop off were straight forward. We loved every minute and will hopefully get to go somewhere else in an RV soon! We booked a Canadream RV via Motorvana for our holiday touring eastern Canada this year. We were collected on time from Halifax airport and taken to the Canadream depot. The briefing was very good and the RV condition was excellent. No problems during our 2 week holiday and the drop-off in Toronto was simple and painless. We definitely now have the bug and plan to tour the west coast in the future! Martin Driscoll, posted on 18 August 2015, vendor was Canadream
We have booked through Motorvana five times with excellent results. Motorvana are allways very helpful, returning emails promptly, arranging pickups and other details. Our motorhome was this time from Fraserway Toronto who were extremely human and professional. The staff were friendly and efficient. The 19 foot Motorhome was nearly new and in very good condition for our 47 days trip Down to New Orleans and back. thank you. We booked through Motorvana with excellent results. This was our first experience of a motorhome and Motorvana could not have been more helpful, returning emails promptly, arranging pickups and last min change of plans. Our motorhome was from Fraserway who were extremely professional. The staff were friendly and efficient. We accidentally broke a lever on the waste tank with no extra charge. Our flight home was early on the morning of our return and frazerway went out of their to ensure we were at the airport in time. Motorvana fraserway and canada fantastic. Stress free holiday. thank you. Lynn Dixon, posted on 10 September 2014, vendor was Fraserway RV Rental
These reviews are not really about Motorvana but about the rental companies. Motorvana is a booking agent and if you are lucky you get a discount. If the booking is correct then full marks but if it is screwed up then no marks so not much else to say. They are efficient and professional and didn't screw up so FULL Marks. Our rental company was Canadream which is also a professional company and the people were helpful and friendly. We had no problems and treated the van with kid gloves. They have a curious add-on purchase which gives a discount on end cleaning and various other bits and pieces which is not cheap. This is curious as there is no charge for end cleaning. They are going to clean it anyway. What do people do, bring the thing back full of cr*p with the dirty dishes piled high? As long as you empty the tanks and leave it in nice condition you do not need this charge. Our van was 9 months old so no problem. Canada has fire pits in most campgrounds so a BBQ grill should be an automatic addition but we had to buy one and I took it home on the plane so as not to be too disposable in my attitude. I would recommend Motorvana, Canadream and Canada. Doel family, posted on 1 September 2014, vendor was Canadream
We had a 23-25' RV with a slide out for 2 of us. We've hired a number of RV's and this was definitely one of the best equipped - good kitchen equipment plus pegs, a washing line, screwdrivers, a first aid kit (latter two not needed!) and an axe. Plus a spirit level! Only additional thing we would have liked was some levellers but we managed with logs. Bedding was also nice with cotton sheets (hate nylon ones!) and two big towels each for 10 days and two hand towels. Pick up and drop off were excellent - and the handbook given with the van was really useful (even included microwave instructions). We had no problems with the RV and really enjoyed our trip. Wouldn't hesitate to use Fraserway again and highly recommend them in Canada. Louise and Henry, posted on 1 September 2013, vendor was Fraserway RV Rental
We were very satisfied with MOTORVANA/FRASER RENTALS with the motor home, the transportation to and from the Halifax airport and how smooth the booking went on line. We found by booking early there were savings to be had. WE are planning a trip to Alaska and we plan on renting a unit from them in White Horse Yukon. We were happy with the service an I would recomend them to my friends. Musial Family, Calgary, Alberta, posted on 23 May 2013, vendor was Fraserway RV Rental
We had a lovely time in N.S., the camper was just what we had asked for (thanks to Mark in Barcelona who helped us via telephone). I have a remark, however, we were very surprised that the gas stove had no safety shut off (compulsory everywhere in Europe) and we paid 2X 75 CAD for bedding and kitchen utensils which were insufficient and of not too good quality. Nevertheless, we want to thank you for your support and wish you a happy winter. Pierre-André and Marilena Breetz, posted on 24 November 2011, vendor was Fraserway RV Rental
Doug, Motorvana was excellent to work with. Booking thru Motorvana saved us money & was very fast & highly efficient. You answered our questions quickly & were very helpful when we almost had to cancel. Good thing we didn't, b/c we had a blast. Very courteous and helpful drivers. We would certainly consider another RV vacation. Kellington family, posted on 28 August 2011, vendor was Fraserway RV Rental
The service at Motorvana was top class. We dealt with one person the whole time and they were keen to follow things up. The RV we hired was perfect. New, clean and functional. Thanks for the follow up email. We were all very pleased with both the service and the vehicle supplied by Fraserway RV. It was a much superior vehicle to the one we received (currently driving) from A&M Motorhomes in Anchorage (A&M is not represented by Motorvana). The current vehicle is older and has very worn out seats and matress and we had to ask them to clean the inside before we would accept it. I would happily recommend your company and definitely not the current company (A&M Motorhomes). Thanks again for providing a quality product. We picked up our RV in Vancouver & dropped it off in Calgary. The staff were helpful & the vehicle was very clean. A small measuring jug would have been useful, but otherwise everything necessary was provided. The biggest problem we had was that the oven didn't work, because of a manufacturing fault with all the vehicles of that age. Although we managed without, it was rather a nuisance! We also had a problem with a warning light on the dashboard coming on, & the gauge for the holding tank didn't work properly- even after emptying it showed partly full. We were very happy with the service received from Motorvana & particularly liked the all inclusive price which meant there were no extras to pay. We picked up our RV from Calgary August 25, spent 25 days going through British Columbia, Alaska and Yukon, we have a very wonderful time, seeing the beautiful country, and have a very special experience. This was our 2nd RV trip, also the 2nd time rental from Motorvana. The 1st time was last year, we had rented a larger RV (over 30 ft) which was more comfortable and luxury, but was a little difficult for a 1st time RV user to handle. So this time we rented a smaller RV, this 22 ft. Okanagan Ford was just right for the Alaska trip, little packed inside, but had everything we needed for 2 people, and the best of all, we drove it around everywhere without problem, winded around narrow roads on mountains, can even do parellal park on the street in city, but we won't recommand it for family over 2 people, or big people to use this vechicle, it will be too tight. The staffs at the Fraserway RV Rentals (Calgary) were very friendly and helpful, the RV was in excellent condition, we'll sure use Motorvana again in our future RV rentals. My wife and I were extremely pleased with the deal we were given by Motorvana. The service and camper truck we hired from Fraserway was fabulous and more roomy than we expected. We travelled from Vancouver to Vancouver Island then took the Ferry from Port Hardy up the inside passage to Prince Rupert. We then drove across toward Prince George, Jasper, Banff, Yoho and Revelstoke National Parks camping all the way. Then we haeded down into Okanagan Valley, Whistler then back to Vancouver. We both had a fabulous trip even though our truck broke down 15kms out of Jasper. The tire rod on the left wheel broke which nearly caused us to crash. However with alot of luck and driving skills I was able to hold the truck on the road. Fraserway were very helpful, they had a tow truck to us very quickly, put us up in a motel for the night in Jasper and had another truck to us by the following morning, which was driven all the way from Calgary. We would definetly recommend your service and Fraserway to others. Thanks for help making our trip memorable. We hired our camper truck for three weeks and travelled throughout Alberta and British Columbia. Both I and my now fiancee (we got engaged whilst in Banff!) had the most fabulous time. The camper truck was clean and practical, though when we return next year we shall hire a camper with a shower unit and a little more leg room. Good job we are a close couple as three weeks of having to visit the washroom with the door open could be uncomfortable for many couples/friends travelling together. We look forward to returning next year on our honeymoon. I wonder if there is a honeymoon special camper - shall have to ask the question! We picked up a camper truck at Halifax for a tour of Nova Scotia for 3 weeks. This size of RV is ideal for 2 people and was in good order inside and out. Very good service from Fraserway Rentals and generally good campsites throughtout the Province. The Provincial parks are more spacious than the private ones and in our view better value all round. Holiday spoiled by collapse of Zoom Airline! Only complaint was the information on some of the tourist maps regarding projected times for journeys, which were often greatly underestimated. We picked up our truck camper from Fraserway in Halifax on August 2, 2008 and toured with it for a week. The pick-up and drop-off of the vehicle was satisfactory, but a bit slow. I found the camper to be very comfortable and almost new. However, there was a slow leak in one of the tires which was known about by Fraserway at the time of rental. Instad of replacing the tire, I was told that I would have to fill the tire with air every so often. That turned out to be every day, which was something of a pain. I would encourage future renters to, if such an event comes up, ensure that the rental company replaces the tire before embarking on the trip. Writing now that I am back in the UK to congratulate you on your service and on your choice of motorhome hire company in Canada. Go-West provided an excellent service with a nearly new vehicle that was the best equipped van that I have ever hired - and I have hired many times in Canada, New Zealand and Europe. Not only was the quipment comprehensive, it included several extra items that added to the already good experience (for example the vacuum flask in travel case; four place settings of crockery and cutlery for a single person hire; kettle, teapot & coffee machine; two leisure batteries: etc). I am greatly impressed and will certainly plan to use yourselves and Go-West on my next trip to Calgary. John Lough, posted on 31 July 2008, vendor was Go West

We picked up the vehicle in Vancouver on 14.09.2007 and returned it again in Vancouver on 29.09.2007. The staff in Vancouver was kind and helpful. The only problem at pick up was that we were not able to persuade the staff that the motoroil level was at the minimum level. We were told that it is at the maximum level and our opinion about the minim level should have been the result of our bad meassuring. After 500 km there was an indication the level is at the minimum which could not have been without doubt possible if there would had been enough of oil. After seven days the cooler in the top part of the fridge served only as fridge, i.e. without producing temperature below zero. Equipment of the vehicle was sufficient and in good quality. I visited British Columbia for the second time an I surely will visit it again because of its fantastic nature, fish and friendly people. We rented a RV for 3 weeks via Motorvana at Fraserway in Vancouver. The handling of the booking by Motorvana was exelent. The only thing that went wrong was the additional ensurance. I think I have missed it in the long list of questions when booking online. Fortunately we could arrange this when we picked up the RV. We rented a 10-foot truck camper and the sleeping cabin was new. We found this type of RV a perfect solution when traveling with only 2 persons. The service by Fraserway in Vancoucer was very good. We were helped by a dutch speaking lady. On request we got extra bed linnen and a toaster and afterwards we were not charged for the few glases we broke. The only problem we had during our trip was that after changeing the gas bottle we could not get things working again. With the help of some very friendly people on the campsite we finally (after 2,5 hours) found the way how to regain gas supply. Afterwards we understood that this was a known problem and that it has to do with a leak protection. Opening the new bottle very, very slowly solved the problem. I would recommend the use of a GPS navigation system. That makes traveling so much more relaxed. Thanks to Motorvana and Fraserway for the exelent service they provided. We're two older West Coast (Vancouver) people who rented a camper-van to see some of the East Coast of Canada. We flew to Halifax and picked up the camper from Fraserway there. Found it as clean as if it had never been used. The rental company staff was very helpful and courteous. Free pickup shuttle to their site and they stored our luggage for us after we unpacked into the van. Our tour was 14 days and 2300 km around the coastal roads of Nova Scotia. The province is beautiful. Holidaying next to the ocean for the whole trip was a unique pleasure, and having a camper guaranteed we could make the most of the experience -- not having to close up in some hotel each night, instead enjoying the oceanside landscapes full time. The people of Nova Scotia are open and friendly, and they had much history and artistry for us to explore and learn about. If you do go to the maritimes, this camper idea is THE way to go. The communities are small. Unlike rural BC, where every town has a few motels situated on the highway route through them, Nova Scotia towns have fewer of such places to stay, other than B&B's. However, nice campgrounds are available everywhere, most of them very clean and with full facilities. We highly recommend what we did -- booked all our campsites in advance, finding them using the provincial 'Doers & Dreamers Guide' plus the internet. The result was that we had a lovely spot almost every night, never had to spend touring and travel time searching for a campsite, could instead just enjoy the driving from one place to the next, making sidetrips and stops along the way without worrying about each night's accommodation. We have never rented or used an RV for a trip before, and we REALLY loved it. The best part was the complete independence, being able to stop for bathroom breaks whenever and wherever, and being able to have our meals at any roadside viewpoint or picnic site or beach along the way. Even though the camper cost more per day than motels, we felt that being able to make our own meals rather than using restaurants easily made up the difference. We are thinking we'll do the same kind of tour of PEI, maybe even next year. Ian and Kate Britt, posted on 8 August 2007, vendor was Fraserway RV Rental

Excellant service and attention to detail from all concerned in the Canadian section. Special thanks to Doug Bredesen who worked hard to get us on the road, when we'd booked late and fixed us up with another RV provider. A great experience all round and no hesitation in recommending it to others considering this type of recreational adventure. We found everyone in Canada went out their way to make our experience a very pleasant vacation. Whilst our RV experience was with a hire company other than Fraserway, it was a highly commendable and reputable organisation who were very proferssional in all their dealings with us. Their van and services were exemplary, which presumably was understood by Doug in contracting us with them. Duncan MacLachlan, posted on 24 July 2007, vendor was Canadream

We had a great 12 days in Alaska and the Yukon in our van. The range to choose from was really helpful and the presentation on the website helped us to make what we felt as the right choice - a balance between comfort and manouvrability over some 'interesting' Yukon roads. The staff at the vehicle pick-up were friendly and helpful and the vehicle was very clean and comfortable. We only has one issue which they attended to and they listene to feedback. RV Loan Frequently Asked Questions

RV loan term lengths vary by lender and the amount you borrow. Larger loans for RVs tend to be longer, but each lender varies on the maximum length of time. It is possible to pay off an RV loan early in many cases. If you think might do so, be sure to avoid lenders with prepayment penalties.

Yes, you can get a 10-year term on an RV loan. RV loans can be much larger than auto loans, and many lenders will give you more time to pay them off.

Some companies offer RV loans for borrowers with bad credit , but you'll probably pay a high interest rate. RVs are luxury items, and loans for RVs already have higher interest rates than car or home loans. They're also generally harder to qualify for as a result. In our research, we found that many RV lenders require a minimum credit score of 700 .

Best RV Loan Company Reviews

RV loans have higher interest rates than auto loans, so we focused on options with relatively low rates to come up with our list of the best options. We focused on RV loans that apply to a variety of RV types and loan amounts. While RV loans generally require higher credit scores than other loan types, we found a good option for poor credit.

Lightstream RV Loans

LightStream is an online lender backed by Truist (Member FDIC) that's known for quick funding and low interest rates on a variety of loan types, including RV loan rates. The bank has also gotten top marks from Insider for personal loans and auto loans . So, it's no surprise that LightStream also offers competitive RV loans.

While this lender doesn't offer massive RV loans — the maximum loan amount is $100,000 — the typical buyer can finance their RV comfortably within this amount and get a competitively low interest rate from LightStream in the process. While some lenders exclude some types of RVs, LightStream is open to most all of them, including trailer-style RVs.

Truist RV Loans

Truist is best for RV loans over $100,000. While that figure seems high, it's probably necessary if you're considering one of the class A or C motorhomes that Truist finances with secured loans — these are generally more expensive RVs.

Truist is best for luxury RV purchases or financing large motorhomes. It's worth noting that Truist's RV loans may require a down payment since they're so large. Truist charges the same rates for both new and used motorhomes, which could be helpful for buyers looking for a used motorhome.

Alliant Credit Union RV Loans

Alliant has a litany of RV types it can finance. The RVs you borrow for must be less than 15 years old and have mileage under 75,000.

Alliant is a credit union, so you need to join Alliant to take out a loan. To qualify, you can work with one of the credit union's partner organizations, be a family member of an Alliant member, or work in a community near the credit union's corporate headquarters in Illinois. If none of those apply to you, you can qualify by joining Foster Care to Success , and Alliant will cover your $5 joining fee.

Southeast Financial RV Loans

Southeast Financial is best for borrowers with poor credit. Other RV loan lenders don't allow borrowers with credit scores below 600 take out a loan, but Southeast Financial welcomes borrowers with poorer credit. Even if you have previous bankruptcies, the lender will still consider you for a loan. Keep in mind that the shakier your financial situation, the higher an interest rate you'll likely pay.

You'll also be able to get any type of RV you'd like with Southeast Financial — you won't have to worry about the restrictions you'll have to keep in mind with other lenders. Provided you have solid credit, you'll be able to borrow up to $4 million, which is a significant amount of money to finance the vehicle you want.

Which RV Lender Is the Most Trustworthy?

The Better Business Bureau, a non-profit organization focused on consumer protection and trust, evaluates businesses using factors like their responsiveness to consumer complaints, honesty in advertising, and clarity about business practices. Here is each company's score:

All of our top picks are rated A- or higher by the BBB. Keep in mind that a high BBB score does not ensure a positive relationship with a lender, and that you should keep doing research and talking to others who have used the company to get the most comprehensive information possible.

None of our top picks have any recent public controversies.

Other RV Lenders We Considered

  • Bank of America : Bank of America only offers RV loans indirectly through select dealerships. You won't be able to apply online on your own, or purchase outside of a dealership.
  • Navy Federal Credit Union : Navy Federal's loans for RV purchases start with APRs higher than those found at other lenders.
  • USAA : A popular option for financing for military families, USAA's interest rates are not the most competitive for RV financing.
  • US Bank : Interest rates start lower at other banks. Additionally, a 1% prepayment penalty applies if you pay off your loan within a year of opening it.

Other ways to finance your RV purchase

The lenders we've looked at aren't the only way you can get an RV loan. You might want to consider checking with your local credit union to see if they have RV financing available. Oftentimes, credit unions offer these types of loans. If you're a member or are open to joining a credit union, it could be beneficial to find out if it offers RV loans.

Another popular way to finance small RV purchases is with a personal loan . However, these unsecured loans may have higher interest rates than an RV loan. If you can qualify for an RV loan, it's probably your best bet.

How can I get an RV loan?

RV loans are much tougher to qualify for than an auto loan, with most RV lenders requiring a minimum credit score of 700 and requiring large down payments.

There are several things to expect in the process of getting an RV loan once you've found the trailer or motorhome you want to finance.

  • Gather information on your employment, income, and other loans : Since RV loans can be large, expect to be asked for a lot of info on your income and assets. Like a home loan, some RV lenders ask to see two years of income history and tax returns. You may also need information on where you live and other debts you have.
  • You'll need an inspection on the RV: Like buying a house, you'll need to have the RV inspected before you're able to get a loan on it. An inspection will likely cost between $150 and $200.
  • You'll likely need to get a newer RV in order to finance it : Most RV lenders require that RVs are model year 2009 or newer. If you're looking for a vintage RV or trailer, financing might not be ideal. In these situations, you might want to consider waiting until you can pay with cash, or using a personal loan instead.

Why You Should Trust Us: Our Methodology

Insider considered many factors important to RVers, including:

  • A wide variety of RV types financed: We aimed to find lenders that accepted the most types of RVs, and tried to include lenders that financed both motorhomes and trailers when available.
  • Interest rates: We compared the best interest rates from each lender, and the whole range if available.
  • Loan fees:  We looked for the lenders that have the lowest fees on RV loans, prioritizing those that have no fees.
  • Better Business Bureau ratings: All lenders that took top spots in our roundup have A ratings with the BBB.
  • Nationwide availability:  We looked for lenders that had loans available in most states, if not all 50.

Lambton-Kent-Middlesex stays PC blue as Pinsonneault cruises to win

Chatham-kent councillor fends off challenge from lucan mayor and liberal candidate cathy burghardt-jesson.

Ontario's Progressive Conservatives will maintain their 13-year hold on the riding of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex as Steven Pinsonneault cruised to an easy byelection win on Thursday.

  • Polls close in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex byelection after a day of voting
  • PC candidate Zee Hamid wins Milton provincial byelection

Pinsonneault, a Chatham-Kent city councillor since 2006, finished well ahead of Lucan Mayor and Liberal challenger Cathy Burghardt-Jesson and the NDP's Kathryn Shailer.

PC candidate Steve Pinsonneault wins by 9,441 votes. Turnout is 30.25 per cent.

When all the polls had closed approximately an hour-and-half after voting ended, Pinsonneault had won by 9,441 votes. He had also captured more than 56 per cent of the popular vote with voter turn out at 30.25 per cent.

The riding will remain PC blue as it's been since 2011 when Monte McNaughton was first elected. It was last fall's resignation of McNaughton, a cabinet minister in the Doug Ford government, that made Thursday's byelection necessary.

McNaughton 'paved the way'

McNaughton joined his successor, campaign volunteers and supporters at a victory celebration at the Township of Dawn-Euphemia Community Centre in the town of Florence, about 30 kilometres northeast of Chatham.

Pinsonneault thanked McNaughton for laying much of the ground work for his win.

"He played a huge role, he paved the way for me," said Pinsonneault. "I canvassed every community here and everybody loves Monte. He did his job very well and I look to carry on that legacy."

Pinsonneault also addressed one of the major issues in the campaign, which is local opposition to a plan by a Mississauga company to re-open a long-dormant dump in the community of Dresden.

"I don't support this landfill expansion," he said. 'It's not a good fit in Dresden. I'm with the residents on this one and my stance hasn't changed on that."

Election signs vie for voters' attention near Strathroy. Voters go to the polls on Thursday, May 2.

Pinsonneault said based on what he heard from voters over the course of the 28-day campaign, falling affordability for everyday necessities such as housing, food and fuel are the top issue.

He pointed to efforts by the Ford government to limit costs and taxes on both gas and heating.

Pinsonneault owns an auto repair shop and printing business in Chatham-Kent.

Hamid standing on a chair, looking at Ford

The PCs were also able to win in Milton in the other byelection held Thursday with Zee Hamid taking 47 per cent of votes. The pair of wins has increased the Doug Ford government's strong majority at Queen's park to 80 seats.

"We're very grateful for the people of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. We had two great candidates. Everyone came out to support us but we take nothing for granted," Premier Doug Ford said at the victory party in Milton.

With these two seat filled by PC representatives, the NDP are left with 28 seats while the Liberals have nine seats, the Green Party holds two seats, and five are held by independents.
