Women need to carry a shawl or pashmina to cover their shoulders before entering any church. Avoid short skirts or revealing tops as these will exclude you from entering churches or other sacred spaces as well. Men will also need to cover their shoulders and remove any hats before entering a church (including the Pantheon).

The best months to visit Rome are in the Spring (April, May), and Fall (September, October). You’ll find warm but not scorching hot weather, and avoid the summer crowds. Even in these shoulder seasons, visit popular places like the Trevi Fountain in the morning to avoid crowds.

We highly recommend staying in the hip, cobblestoned neighborhood of Trastevere. These narrow streets are packed with cafes and shops, but you can still walk to the biggest sites in the city. We’ve got the best places to stay in Trastevere for every budget. If you are visiting during the warmer months, consider a Rome hotel with a pool !

We recommend using Welcome Pickups . They’ll meet you at the airport, and take you directly to your hotel. You can add child car seats, leave instructions for your driver (like letting them know you have two strollers), and can book everything online!

All LivTours Semi-Private Group Tours are limited to 6 guests per tour guide. Our commitment to maintaining our uniquely tiny group sizes can sometimes be a little tricky, mathematically speaking. For example, we want to ensure that traveling families and friends can tour together so on rare occasions we may add one or two guests in order to not split groups. On that same note, you may also find yourself on tour with less than six people! We thank you for your understanding and flexibility .

Wonderful introduction to Rome

Rome was made special by this tour with Patrizio. It was our a good intro to the best places to see in Rome as it was our first full day in the city. He even brought us to places we wouldn’t have thought of doing on our own, like the Garden of Oranges, the view was magnificent! Patrizio made sure we got nice photos knowing my husband had with him a big slr camera. He was very understanding and so hopeful. His perfect English coupled with his in-depth knowledge of Rome being a local is much appreciated.

Really worthwhile

So far we’ve taken two tours, golf cart tour with Simone, and the Vatican tour with Tania. In both cases we were really impressed with their energy, knowledge, and friendliness. Highlight of our trip

We had a wonderful golf cart tour with Paul. He is very knowledgeable and a wonderful storyteller, weaving the historical and cultural backgrounds of the sites we visited, such as Piazza Navona and four rivers fountain, the meaning of the statues and Bernini’s hidden messages, and how to drink from a “Nasoni” like a proper Roman!! It was a beautiful evening and we caught a glorious sunset near the Pincio Park. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
