Ruben Studdard
Trending on billboard, usher is 'just as disappointed as you are' about the cancellation of lovers & friends in las vegas.
The pair chatted about their joint tour in a Monday appearance on The View after a jubilant performance of Donny Hathaway’s “This Christmas.”
“We were here five years ago to announce our Broadway Christmas special, which was exciting for us. We’re getting old, Ruben, we are about to celebrate our 20th anniversary from the year we were on Idol , and so Ruben and I are are hitting the road together with a 20th anniversary tour all across the country through the year,” Aiken told The View ‘s hosts. “We’re starting out this spring and we’re going to be celebrating the last 20 years since we did Idol and the music we’ve gotten to make and the friendships we made along the way.”
During the pair’s appearance on The View , they also revealed that they will be returning to American Idol in the upcoming season for the finale, as the finale date will coincide with their season two finale episode’s.
The second season of American Idol aired from January to May of 2003. Studdard faced off against Aiken in the finals, and ultimately won. Following the show, the pair remained close, which Aiken discussed in a Dec. 3 Instagram post .
“We don’t get to choose our family. Most family is predetermined by blood; some are predestined by God to come into our lives. I’ve got one brother who was born into my family and one brother who the good Lord introduced me to in 2003,” he wrote.

Oh, vintage “American Idol,” we wish we could quit you.
Still, we’re happy we can’t because we now live in a world where Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken are teaming up to embark on a spring 2023 tour.
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of their “American Idol” season together, the competitors turned friends will hit 16 venues as part of their upcoming “Twenty: The Tour.”
Along the way, the pair will drop into Patchogue’s Patchogue Theater on April 20 and Red Bank, NJ’s Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre on April 26.
Allegedly, when the two finalists were waiting to hear the results, Studdard said to Aiken, “Look at us. Who would have ever thought it? Two boys from the South that no one would have ever picked to be here, and here we are.”
Now, two decades later, they’re still here.
And, while Studdard defeated Aiken way back in Season Two, we’re all winners when it comes to ticket prices for these concerts.
In fact, we found some seats going for as low as $42 before fees on Vivid Seats.
Here’s everything you need to know about their upcoming “Twenty: The Tour.”
Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken 2023 tour schedule
A complete calendar featuring all dates, venues and links to buy tickets to see Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken can be found below.
Ruben Studdard also has three shows of his own as well this winter and spring. You can find tickets to all his solo performances here.

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.
“American Idol” Season 21
Just like Studdard and Aiken, the reality show that made them stars is still at it.
Season 21, featuring guest judges, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan along with veteran host Ryan Seacrest, returns on Feb. 19 on ABC and Hulu.
A 45-second, Las Vegas-themed trailer for the upcoming season can be seen below.

‘Twenty-Sided Tavern’ Brings Dungeons & Dragons Improv, Audience Voting and Real Tequila Shots to Off-Broadway

All hope seemed to be lost when the zombie cowboy faced off against the putrid walrus in the final boss battle of “Dungeons & Dragons The Twenty-Sided Tavern ,” which opens at Stage 42 on May 5 in New York City.
Popular on Variety
Well, no, just like an actual game of Dungeons & Dragons, the creators of “The Twenty-Sided Tavern” never know how a show will turn out, but they have contingencies for every possible twist, turn and dice roll. If Murphy had rolled a lower number, her undead cowboy may have returned to the afterlife once again. The onstage Dungeon Master, played by co-creator David Andrew Greener Laws, would have enacted “ghost rules” for Murphy to spectrally remain in the show while her two companions, a barbarian played by Tyler Nowell Felix and a trickster played by Diego Salinas, finished their adventure.
Using Gamiotics on their phones, audience members can vote on major story decisions, solve riddles and tailor the show to how they want so that no two performances are ever the same. When the show starts, Murphy, Felix and Salinas can portray three distinct characters that range from a frat-bro barbarian to a fake wizard pretending to have magical abilities to a party-loving grandma and many more. The actors won’t know who they’re playing until the audience decides. When they arrive, attendees also write down a one-word suggestion on a piece of paper that will be used later in the show — which is how the three adventurers ended up fighting a “putrid, mysterious walrus.”
Behind a control panel disguised as a bar, Reynolds and DAGL keep track of a dizzying amount of story branches, sound cues, script pages and dice rolls on computer monitors. They estimate there are some 300,000 story combinations — and there could someday be more.
“Creatively we want it to be at a place where we have eight different possible campaigns,” Reynolds says. “And every show the audience comes and during the pre-show the choices they’re making determine which campaign we’re going to run.”
There may be dice-rolling and vote tallying, but “Twenty-Sided Tavern” isn’t all about math; there’s also drinking. Whenever an actor rolls a 20 or a 1 on the dice (a critical success or failure) they’re either rewarded or punished with a shot ranging from tequila to Fireball whiskey to Malört. Audience members are encouraged to imbibe if they choose, and they can even opt-in to come on stage to join a scene or play a game like “Uh-Oh, Block Fall Down” — which you may know better by its trademarked name, Jenga. Fans are kept invested in the wacky fantasy story, as the creators plan for at least one interactive moment for roughly every three pages of the script.
After a successful run in Chicago, “The Twenty-Sided Tavern” is ready to graduate to New York’s Off-Broadway , and now it’s officially licensed by Hasbro and Dungeons & Dragons. Before the team couldn’t use trademarked D&D locations, like the Forgotten Realms, or creatures, like the psychic mind flayers or one-eyed beholders, but now everything is fair game. With the popularity of D&D growing thanks to groups like Critical Role or last year’s “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” movie, “The Twenty-Sided Tavern” now has the stamp of approval and support to expand its reach.
“When we had the partnership and we knew that we were going to re-announce as ‘Dungeons & Dragons Twenty-Sided Tavern,’ we went, ‘How’s this going to hit? Will people be interested? Will they be supportive? Will they be as excited as we are?'” DAGL says. “The answer has been a resounding yes.”
Off-Broadway may not be the only realm you can catch the “Twenty-Sided Tavern,” as the team is hoping to tour around the country and go international.
So grab your D&D dice, a magic wand and your tickets to “Twenty-Sided Tavern” here .

On June 29, 1999, Iowa-based heavy metal band Slipknot released their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album.
Twenty-five short years later, they’re one of the biggest groups in the world.
However, the heavy octet never forgot where they came from.

New York fans are in luck, too.
Slipknot is scheduled to drop into Madison Square Garden on Monday, Aug. 12.
As for what to expect, the “Duality” group plans on keeping things intimate.
“We’re gonna make it more personal on the anniversary, but how remains to be seen,” Slipknot vocalist and drummer Shawn Crahan shared in a press release. “Just get ready to have your face kicked in. Because we just do what we do, spread that maggot culture — that disease. And you’ve been infected.”
“Maggots” that can’t wait to get infected their hands on tickets are in luck.
At the time of publication, tickets for all of Slipknot’s upcoming North American concerts and festival dates can be scooped up as soon as today.
Although inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Friday, May 3, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.
Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.
A complete calendar including all North American tour dates, venues, and links to buy tickets can be found below.
On top of the tour, Slipknot will lend their talents to a handful of major heavy festivals this year.

2024 NHL Playoffs bracket: Stanley Cup Playoffs schedule, start times, TV channels
The bruins have advanced to the second round, and one more game 7 remains on sunday night.
The Boston Bruins are advancing to the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs after once again defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs in a Game 7. On Saturday night, David Pastrnak scored in overtime to send Boston through to the next round and send Toronto packing.
The Maple Leafs and Bruins played to a 1-1 tie through three periods, and Toronto was one shot away from getting a playoff gorilla off its back. However, it was an all too familiar story for the Maple Leafs as Pastrnak zoomed into the zone, picked up a loose puck and beat Ilya Samsonov for the game-winner. Now, the Bruins will take on the Panthers in the second round.
While the conference semifinals do start Sunday, with the New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes facing off, there is still one more first-round matchup that needs to be decided. The Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars will play Game 7 on Sunday night after Vegas kept the series alive with a Game 6 win at T-Mobile Arena. The winner of that game will advance to play the Colorado Avalanche.
The structure of the playoffs is as follows:
- The division winner with the most points in each conference will face the second Wild Card team in the first round. The division winner with fewer points in each conference will match up with the top Wild Card team in the first round.
- Each series will be a best-of-seven format.
- Home-ice advantage goes to the team with the top seed in the first two rounds of the playoffs. The team with the most points in the regular season has home-ice advantage in the conference finals and Stanley Cup Final.
Below is how you can follow each series in the first round along with updating results and scores from each game. Bookmark this page for the duration of the playoff run to stay up to date with everything on the ice.

Slipknot unveiled on Tuesday that they are heading on tour this summer for their Here Comes the Pain Tour to mark the 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut album. The news comes on the heels of the band’s announcement yesterday, April 29, that they will return to their hometown of Des Moines, Iowa to headline Knotfest 2024 .
The tour will see the group stop in North American cities such as Columbus, Baltimore, New York, Austin, Los Angeles, and Austin. They then head overseas for a slate of dates in Europe and the U.K. The group will bring Knocked Loose on the road for the entirety of the tour. Orbit Culture and Vended will join for select dates.
“Just get ready to have your face kicked in. Because we just do what we do, spread that maggot culture – that disease,” Crahan added. “And you’ve been infected.”

Tickets go on sale for the general public on May 3 at 10 a.m. local time. Fans can expect the group to deliver many of their earliest hits, which helped the group break through to a wider audience.
“We loved what we did with the first record but we didn’t even know if there was gonna be anything after that,” guitarist Jim Root said. “We just wanted people to hear it. Selling out of records and shows, having successful tours — those are goals for any band. But the dream scenario in some ways, came true for us.”

Release: gottheimer, goldman lead 21 democratic members of congress urging columbia university’s board of trustees to protect jewish students, disband encampment, reminds columbia’s board of their legal obligation to protect students from identity-based harassment.
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, April 29, 2024, U.S. Representatives Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) and Dan Goldman (NY-10) led a letter signed by a group of twenty-one Members of Congress urging Columbia University’s Board of Trustees to disband the encampment located on its campus.
For the past week, this encampment has been the breeding ground for antisemitic attacks on Jewish students, including hate speech, harassment, intimidation, and even threats of violence. Last weekend, a student held up a sign pointing to pro-Israel students that said “Al-Qa[ss]am’s next targets,” referring to the military arm of Hamas, the foreign terrorist organization responsible for the atrocities of October 7, and for holding hostage innocent civilians – including Americans – in brutal captivity for nearly seven months.
One of the protest leaders has also previously declared , “Zionists — they are Nazis. They’re Nazis. They’re fascists. They’re supporters of genocide. Why would we want people who are supporters of genocide to live?” and students routinely chanted “from the river to the sea,” which is a cry to eliminate Israel and all Jews within its borders.
The White House has already roundly condemned the encampment at Columbia , stating “While every American has the right to peaceful protest, calls for violence and physical intimidation targeting Jewish students and the Jewish community are blatantly antisemitic, unconscionable, and dangerous – they have absolutely no place on any college campus, or anywhere in the United States of America.”
The signatory list of twenty-one Members of Congress includes Reps. Gottheimer (NJ-5), Goldman (NY-10), Hoyer (MD-5), Cuellar (TX-28), Frankel (FL-22), Landsman (OH-1), Manning (NC-6), Menendez (NJ-8), Moskowitz (FL-23), Nickel (NC-13), Norcross (NJ-1), Pappas (NH-1), Phillips (MN-3), Schiff (CA-30), Schneider (IL-10), Soto (FL-9), Stevens (MI-11), Suozzi (NY-3), Torres (NY-15), Veasey (TX-33), and Wasserman Schultz (FL-25).
“The First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech and assembly, but not freedom to harass and intimidate other students,” wrote twenty-one Members of Congress in a letter to Columbia University’s Board of Trustees. “Academic institutions must ensure the safety and security of all of their students under Title VI. It is clear to us that the University has allowed the encampment to create an environment that appears to violate its legal obligations to protect all students from discrimination and harassment. As a result, many students who are paying for an education — supported by the federal government — cannot safely attend class, enter the library, or leave their dorm rooms.”
The members continued, “After nearly a week of negotiations, it is now abundantly clear that the students and activists entrenched on campus are unwilling to enter into a reasonable agreement to disband, which is necessary to bring the University into compliance with Title VI. Those who violate the law cannot dictate the terms of the University’s ability to comply with that law. It is past time for the University to act decisively, disband the encampment, and ensure the safety and security of all of its students.”
Full text of the letter sent to Columbia University’s Trustees can be found here and below:
April 29, 2024
Columbia University in the City of New York
The Trustees of Columbia University C/O Office of the Secretary 211 Low Library
535 West 116th Street New York, NY 10027
To the Trustees of Columbia University:
We, the undersigned, write to express our disappointment that, despite promises to do so, Columbia University has not yet disbanded the unauthorized and impermissible encampment of anti-Israel, anti-Jewish activists on campus. As a result of this disruption on campus, supported by some faculty members, many students have been prevented from safely attending class, the main library, and from leaving their dorm rooms in an apparent violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.
One of the protest leaders has previously declared, “Zionists — they are Nazis. They’re Nazis. They’re fascists. They’re supporters of genocide. Why would we want people who are supporters of genocide to live?” and students routinely chanted “from the river to the sea,” which is a cry to eliminate Israel and all Jews within its borders.
In response, the White House has rightly stated, “While every American has the right to peaceful protest, calls for violence and physical intimidation targeting Jewish students and the Jewish community are blatantly antisemitic, unconscionable, and dangerous – they have absolutely no place on any college campus, or anywhere in the United States of America.”
Earlier this week, the Columbia administration tacitly acknowledged that the encampment had created an impermissibly hostile and unsafe environment for Jewish students by resorting to hybrid learning, appearing to violate Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. In other words, instead of solving the root cause of discrimination and harassment that students faced on campus, the administration decided to segregate some students from campus altogether, which naturally created an unsafe environment on campus for all students.
The First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech and assembly, but not freedom to harass and intimidate other students. Academic institutions must ensure the safety and security of all of their students under Title VI. It is clear to us that the University has allowed the encampment to create an environment that appears to violate its legal obligations to protect all students from discrimination and harassment. As a result, many students who are paying for an education — supported by the federal government — cannot safely attend class, enter the library, or leave their dorm rooms.
We appreciate the Columbia administration’s efforts this week to negotiate in good faith to reach an agreement that allows those in the encampment to voluntarily disburse without police intervention. But, after nearly a week of negotiations, it is now abundantly clear that the students and activists entrenched on campus are unwilling to enter into a reasonable agreement to disband, which is necessary to bring the University into compliance with Title VI.
Those who violate the law cannot dictate the terms of the University’s ability to comply with that law. It is past time for the University to act decisively, disband the encampment, and ensure the safety and security of all of its students.
The time for negotiation is over; the time for action is now. It is ultimately the responsibility of the Board of Trustees to act. If any Trustees are unwilling to do this, they should resign so that they can be replaced by individuals who will uphold the University’s legal obligations under Title VI.
