Our Korean Visa in Cebu Approved — Here’s How We Did It!

Previously, we got our Korean tourist visa at the Korean Embassy in Manila . Now that we are based in Cebu, we applied for our Korean visa at the Korean Consulate in Cebu. Despite applying during the pandemic, we must say that the whole Korean visa application process in Cebu was smooth — from the Korean visa online appointment to the actual submission of our Korean visa requirements up to the releasing of our Korean tourist visa .

Note: The Korean Consulate Cebu only accepts applicants from Cebu. Those from Luzon and Mindanao, may need to process their Korean visa at the  Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC) in Manila where they can walk-in or apply via one of the accredited travel agencies .

Let us walk you through the entire process in case you’ll apply for a Korean visa in Cebu like us.

How to apply for a South Korean visa in Cebu

Step 1: know your visa type and gather your korean visa requirements.

There are different types of Korean visas, each with different sets of visa requirements. As for us, we applied for the C-3 (Short Term Visit) Visa for Employed Individuals .

South Korea tourist visa requirements for employees:

  • Application Form
  • 1 piece Passport size coloured picture (to be pasted on the form)
  • Original Passport (should be valid for more than 6 months)
  • Photocopy of Passport Bio-page (page 2)
  • Original & Photocopy of valid visa/s and arrival stamps to OECD member countries for the past 5 years (If applicable, and Korean Visas will not be counted)
  • Original Certificate of Employment (including applicant’s position, date hired, compensation, address, office landline number, e-mail address)
  • Original Personal Bank Certificate (must include account type, current balance, account opening date, ADB)
  • Bank Statement (original or certified true copy of bank statements/passbook for the last 3 months)
  • Photocopy of ITR (Income Tax Return) or Form 2316 (Checked by BIR with stamp). ( Tip: If you don’t have an ITR yet, be sure to create a cover letter explaining why you don’t have it. Please refer to our Korean visa without ITR guide .)
  • Copy of PRC Card or IBP Card (If applicable only)

•If personally invited by Korean: Invitation Letter & Copy of invitor’s Passport •If invited by Company in Korea: Invitation Letter & Copy of Korean Company Business Permit

Know your Korean visa type and complete list of requirements for your category.

Step 2: Fill out the Korean visa application form

Print out the new Korean visa application form in an A4 size bond paper.

Tips in filling out your Korean visa application form:

1) Write in BLOCK LETTERS meaning ALL CAPS . Use black pen or black font color when filling out the form. Provide all the correct information and avoid erasures. If you don’t have a good handwriting, you can download the .doc format of the Korean visa application form so you can just edit and type all the information, then print.

2) Put N/A for fields that are not applicable to you.

Take note of these important fields:

1.7 국가신분증번호 National Identity No.

Put  N/A since we don’t have this.

Status of Stay

Write  C-3-9 TOURIST for those applying for a tourist visa.

Are you travelling to Korea with any family member?

You can only include your direct family members such as your spouse , father , mother , children , brothers and sisters . Your romantic partners and friends are NOT considered family members, so don’t put their names even if you’re traveling with them.

Who will pay for your travel-related expenses?

Name of Person/Company(Institute)

Write your name if you are self-funding your trip. If not, put the name of the person/s or organizations who will fund your Korea trip.

b) 관계 Relationship to you

Just put “ SELF ” if you are funding your travel or your relationship to the entity funding you.

c) 지원내용 Type of Support

Write “ FINANCIAL SUPPORT ” or  the part of your trip which will be funded like hotels, flights, tours, etc.

Tip: For the field under 8.4 Address in Korea , choose any Korea hotel on Klook  or  Agoda and put their address and contact information on your application form. Pick a hotel with a free cancellation policy so can cancel without paying anything in case your visa gets denied. We temporarily put Lotte Hotel Seoul for our Korean visa in Cebu application.

Step 3: Schedule your Korean visa online appointment

Korean visa online appointment - Step 1

Since 4 October 2022, the Korean Consulate in Cebu already implemented the Online Visa Appointment System . You may book your Korean visa online appointment here . Slots will be opened every Tuesday at 2pm for the following week’s schedule. You will be denied entry to the Consulate if you do not have a confirmed visa appointment. Read our Korean visa online appointment guide for the step-by-step process.

If you opt to apply via a travel agency, please skip Step 3 as they will be the one to schedule the appointment and submit your application on your behalf.

Step 4: Submit your visa requirements

Put all your documents in a secure envelope or folder to submit your requirements to your chosen travel agency or directly to the Consulate. If you opt to DIY your Korean visa application, you may proceed to the Korean Consulate in Cebu located on the 12th Floor of Chinabank Corporate Center, Lot 2, Samar Loop Cor. Road 5, Cebu Business Park, Cebu City on your scheduled online appointment date. Please bring your confirmed appointment slip and valid IDs.

South Korea visa fees 2024

  • 59 days (or less) stay in Korea — GRATIS (FREE)
  • 60 to 90 days stay in Korea — ₱2,000
  • Travel agency visa processing fees could vary. For instance, Rakso Travel , which has a Cebu branch in Unit 5 level 1 of Avida Tower 2, IT Park, charges a total of ₱1,900 to process your South Korea visa application. This already includes the handling fee of ₱1,000 and visa fee of ₱900.
  • You may apply for your Korean visa at least two (2) months prior to your trip.

Step 5: Wait for your South Korea visa

Once you submit all your requirements, the officer will give you a tentative release date written on the claim slip.

Korean Visa in Cebu - Claim Slip

The Korean Consulate in Cebu announced that the current Korean visa processing period is 10 working days , but it could still be extended depending on the number of visa applications received per day.

Step 6: Check your Korean visa online and claim your passport

Korean visa application status online

You may check your Korean visa application status online to see the status of your application. You may proceed to the Korean Consulate in Cebu to claim your Philippine passport on the tentative release date. For those, who applied via a travel agency, they will usually contact you when your passport is ready for pick up at their agency or they may ship it to you depending on your arrangement.

Korean Visa online status approved

Based on our experience, on the 10th working day, while we were already at the Consulate to claim our passport, the online visa status changed from “ Application Received ” to “ Under Review ” to finally “ Approved “. The Consulate printed a copy of our approved visa and gave it together with our passport. You may also click on the “ Certificate ” button on the online portal to download a soft copy of your Korean visa.

Here’s our approved Korean visa in Cebu:

If, unfortunately, you get denied, you can only re-apply after three (3) months.

That’s it! We wish you all the best in your Korean visa application in Cebu.

HOW TO APPLY for a SOUTH KOREA VISA in CEBU

HOW TO APPLY for a SOUTH KOREA VISA in CEBU

By continuing to read this article, you agree to double check with the authorities or other concerned entities for the latest updates.

Applying for a South Korean visa in Cebu is not that different from that in Manila. The required documents are exactly the same. The only difference is in the actual lodging of the application at the consular office and the length of the processing time.

A friend very recently applied for a South Korean visa in Cebu and we asked her to document every step of the way, so now we’re sharing it with you. Here goes.

1. Gather all basic requirements.

The set of requirements varies according to the applicant’s employment status. In this post, we will only tackle the four most common types of applicants: employees, self-employed, housewives, and students. The list follows a certain order, but for the purpose of this article (and so you would easily understand the process), let’s break it down to basic, financial, and OECD documents.

Here are the basic requirements regardless of your employment status. Meaning, ALL applicants MUST have the following:

  • Duly accomplished application form . New form as of January 2020: Download here . You can also find it below.
  • Passport (must still be valid for at least 6 months)
  • Photocopy of the passport Bio page (Page 2)
  • 1 passport size colored photo
  • If invited by a Korean : an Invitation letter and a copy of the inviter’s passport. (Ignore if not applicable.)

The Section 2 of the application form calls for details of Visa Issuance Confirmation. This section is only for those with a document called “Confirmation of Visa Issuance.” Many people think it refers to previous Korean visas; NO, IT DOESN’T. The “Visa Issuance Confirmation” is a completely different document, usually issued in Korea.

2. Complete financial and employment documents.

For employees.

  • Certificate of Employment . Must be original; and must have the address of the employer, the landline number and email address of employer’s HR department, applicant’s position, date hired, and compensation. Mobile number is not allowed.
  • Original Personal Bank Certificate . Must include account type, current balance, account opening date, ADB.
  • Original or certified true copy of bank statements/passbook covering the last 3 months.
  • ITR (Income Tax Return) or Form 2316.
  • Copy of PRC Card or IBP Card (If applicable only)

For Self-Employed

  • Photocopy of Business registration form from DTI or SEC
  • Photocopy of Business permit or Mayor’s permit
  • Photocopy of ITR (Income Tax Return) or Form 2316 with corresponding payment receipt from BIR authorized bank

For Housewives or House Husbands

  • Your own or your husband’s original Bank Certificate . Must include account type, current balance, account opening date, ADB.
  • Your own or your husband’s Bank Statement . Original or certified true copy of bank statements/passbook for the last 3 months.
  • If husband is employed – Husband’s Original Certificate of Employment. Must be original; and must have the address of the employer, the landline number and email address of employer’s HR department, applicant’s position, date hired, and compensation. Mobile number is not allowed. – Copy of ITR (Income Tax Return) or Form 2316 Copy.
  • If husband is self-employed – Copy of husband’s Business Registration from SEC or DTI – Copy of husband’s Business Permit or Mayor’s Permit(Copy) – Photocopy of husband’s ITR (Income Tax Return) or Form 2316 with corresponding payment receipt from BIR authorized bank
  • Photocopy of NSO Marriage Certificate

For Students

  • Original School Certificate
  • Photocopy of School ID
  • Photocopy of NSO Birth Certificate of applicant
  • If parents are employed – Parents’ Original Certificate of Employment. Must be original; and must have the address of the employer, the landline number and email address of employer’s HR department, applicant’s position, date hired, and compensation. Mobile number is not allowed. – Copy of ITR (Income Tax Return) or Form 2316 Copy
  • If parents are self-employed – Copy of parents’ Business Registration from SEC or DTI – Copy of parents’ Business Permit or Mayor’s Permit(Copy) – Photocopy of parents’ ITR (Income Tax Return) or Form 2316 with corresponding payment receipt from BIR authorized bank
  • Parents’ Original Bank Certificate . Must include account type, current balance, account opening date, ADB.
  • Parents’ Bank Statement . Original or certified true copy of bank statements/passbook for the last 3 months.
  • Copy of parents’ marriage certificate .

UPDATE! (March 2018): The embassy has announced that starting 26 March 2018, first-time travelers who have NOT been to any OECD country as a tourist within the last 5 years must submit the following::

  • Starting July 1, 2018. The company alphalist is no longer required. However, it may be requested as additional document for some applicants.
  • For Employees applying before July 1, 2018, you must submit ITR with BIR Received or BIR Certified True Copy Stamp + Copy of Alpha List with BIR Received Stamp. You must highlight your name on the alpha list. If you cannot submit company alphalist for whatever reason (usually, confidentiality issue), you can ask your company to write a letter of explanation and submit that. However, according to the embassy, there may be disadvantage in visa approval for those who fails to submit. But this is the best you can do in this case.
  • For Self-Employed, BIR Form with Corresponding Payment Receipt from a BIR-authorized bank.

If you’re a freelancer, read: Korea Visa FAQs

3. Photocopy all your OECD Visas

Only if you have them. If you don’t have any, skip this part.

What’s OECD, you ask? It’s the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. To see all the member countries of this organization, visit this website .

If you have been granted a visa for any OECD country, you need to submit both the ORIGINAL copy AND a photocopy of it. If you have multiple, submit them all. Although this does NOT GUARANTEE approval, it gives you better chances.

Update: JAPAN VISA is no longer honored for OECD consideration by the Korean Embassy.

Submission of ITR is waived for applicants who have traveled to South Korea more than 2x within the last 4 years and applicants who have traveled at least once to any OECD country within the last 5 years. This is according to Constellation Travels, which is an official embassy-designated travel agency.

4. Submit the documents to the Korean Consulate in Cebu.

Once you have completed all the requirements, it’s time to go the consular office. They entertain visa applications Mondays-Fridays 9am-11am only . Closed on weekends and holidays. If you’re not from Cebu but traveling there to apply, note that there may be local holidays so double check before going.

Also, Bring 2 valid IDs aside from your passport. I’ll explain why later.

Here’s the address:

KOREAN CONSULATE IN CEBU 12th Floor Chinabank Corporate Center, Lot 2, Samar Loop Cor. Road 5, Cebu Business Park, Mabolo, Cebu City Email Address: [email protected] Contact No.: (63-32) 231-1516(-9)

Here’s how to lodge your application:

  • When you reach the lobby of Chinabank Corporate Center, approach the concierge, sign in, and leave an ID.
  • Take the elevator to the 12th floor.
  • Walk to your right. A guard will inspect your bag again. You will then be asked for another ID, which is why you should bring 2 IDs. The camera on your phone will be covered with a sticker. You will then be given a number and a list of documents (depending on your employment status).
  • Arrange your documents according to that list.
  • When your number is called, approach the VISA window (the one closest to the entrance) and hand over all the requirements. The officer will check each document and briefly assess it. If something’s not right or insufficient, all your documents will be handed back to you (so make sure they’re complete and correct).
  • If the officer finds your pile satisfactory, you’ll be given a slip indicating the date and time of passport pick-up.

Visa Processing Schedule: Mondays-Fridays 9am-11am only

Visa Fees: FREE for stays shorter than 59 P1350 for 60-90-day stays

Processing time : 10-26 working days* depending on the volume of applications that week.

*IMPORTANT! The Korean Consulate in Cebu’s last announcement on their website states that the processing time will be 24-26 days. But it actually changes week after week depending on the volume of applicants. Best to call them beforehand for the latest processing period or check the latest announcement on their website.

5. Pick up your passport on the scheduled date of release.

Return to the embassy on the date indicated on the slip given to you and claim your passpport, hopefully it has a visa affixed to it.

Releasing of visa schedule: Monday-Friday 2pm-4pm

Before leaving the counter, double check that your name, passport number, and other details are CORRECT to avoid troubles in the future.

May papers ka ba nung online business? Business registration? If meron, pwede yun. APply ka as self-employed.

If wala, dun medyo mahihirapan. Pero you can try submitting other proof nung online business like invoices, kung meron, tapos gawa ka letter to explain. Pero di guarantee yun.

SHie

Hi Ziggy, sa Manila, I was told ng staff na if someone else would pick it up, just bring an authorization letter plus ID ng kukuha.

I guess same lang din sa Cebu. Just make sure nasa authorization letter ang details ng pipickup.

ELLA

Would it be okay if the amount of money in the bank is not 50k up? Thank you.

What if i’m traveling with my other 3 family members (my mom, sis and bro) , would it be okay to present one bank account for the four of us? Or they require one each? My mom is a widow and unemployed. My sister is a student, on the other hand my brother is employed.

Hi Sarah. Ang alam ko, pwede naman as long as may sufficient funds ung account. (Kung ano yung sufficient, di natin alam. Pero a good rule is P10,000 per day. So since apat kayo, i-multiply by four nyo na lang. It’s not the official rule, just something I follow personally.)

Pero kahit once account lang, baka kailangan pa rin ng separate copies of the same bank statement/certificate. Not sure about this though.

Hi Jumar, naku, wala kaming alam sa work visa. Tourist visa lang alam namin. :(

Hi, I already booked the ticket a month ago without checking the requirements for the Visa Application. My bad, i know. I bought for our Yaya since we are bringing our 1yo with us. Now that i got the time to check—For item 7, she will be under OTHER which will be Carer or Nanny. What other supporting doc will be asked from her? Since Financial and Employment docs would not be applicable. Would you know if the BASIC Reqs would suffice? We brought her with us several times already to SG and HK. Need i ask for a Sponsor Letter?

thanks in advance

ana

Hi regarding the new requirements Company alphalist, what if the company cannot provide it?

Jane

This is my question too. How did you get your Company Alphalist by the way, Yosh? Thanks for answering.

Hi Jane and Ana, according to the embassy, “If the applicant cannot submit company alphalist, submit letter of explanation. However, there may be disadvantage in visa approval for those who fails to submit.”

We updated na rin the post to include this. :)

Vina

What is the Form 1604? Is it the company alphalist? What if my company won’t release the company alphalist due to Data Privacy Act? Are the chances of visa approval still low? Thank you.

Hi! We answered that here: https://www.thepoortraveler.net/2017/03/south-korea-visa-filipinos-frequently-asked-questions/#One_of_the_requirements_for_employees_is_the_company_alphalist_My_company_doesnt_want_to_release_their_copy_because_its_confidential_What_can_I_do

Joan

Hi. I would like to ask my chances to get a Korean visa. I am currently unemployed… i have a bank account…Me and fiance plan naming magtravel sa December to celebrate Christmas (2018) together mga 10 days siguro. as we did in the year 2015 (Malaysia) 2016 (Singapore) 2017 Taiwan.

Hi Joan, if unemployed, mahihirapan talaga maapprove ung visa.

Yvonne

Hi.. I hope this helps, korea embassy in cebu still accepts walk in application. Ung effective july 1 na dapat sa agency na mag apply ay sa manila lang po un affected na embassy due to increasing number of applicants. Sa cebu po walang masyadong tao… Thanks

Alcora

wow!!! tks sa info…magandang balita “to..

Hi Yvonne, yep, it’s in the 3rd paragraph.

Mei

Hi, tanong lang po. Say, i have about 60-100k in my bank account, however in my coe appeared that my monthly gross salary is only about 15k, same will appear in the ITR.

Ilang days yung trip? If konting days lang, pwede pa rin. Just make sure lang na complete ang documents and maestablish na stable naman ang employment. :)

Leigh

Hi po, I’m a graduating student and fortunately my aunt will sponsor me on this trip. My concern is instead of my parents bank account and bank statement okay lang ba na sa aunt na lang ang ipapakita ko who is from Canada since siya naman ang gagastos sa akin. ?

Hi Leigh. Not sure, ang alam ko pwede naman. Just prove na lang the relationship by submitting birth certificate mo, ng nanay mo, and ng aunt mo to show na related kayo.

Reynaldo Pena

Gloria Alvarez

Hello po, I am a senior citizen planning to go to South Korea on Sept 28, 2018 and coming back on Oct. 2, 2018 to attend a convention. Do I have to submit my ITR?

Hi!

Troy

For the form 2316, it requires “BIR received” stamp. Will they accept my ITR which I got from my office? It doesn’t have stamp or anything on it.

Jade

Hi can I ask what should I choose between the choices? My Korean boyfriend invite me to go to Korea and I am still a university student what should I choose student application visa? But I haven’t graduate.

I’m not sure I understand your question well, but if what you’re trying to say is you want to visit your boyfriend, apply for a short-term visit visa and submit requirements for students as listed above.

Cath

Hi po, what if wala pong bank account kasi sponsored lang kasi ng friend kong korean? And one thing po, part time teacher lang ako sa isang public school, and my salary is not that much unlike sa mga regular teachers na, pwede po ba yun? yung korean friend ko lang ang magbabayad lahat ng expenses. Thank you

Hi Cath, kahit na sponsored, they will still ask for your own bank documents eh.

Darn

May nabasa po kasi akong blog na they accept even got denied here in Manila. Thank you in advance.

Hi Darn! Just be sure to provide additional supporting docs.

Camille

Hello.

Borge

Hi Yoshke. I’m an OFW here in China. Can i use my China bank account when I apply for a visa in Cebu? Also, I do not have an ITR. Will a letter of explanation be enough to suffice the requirements?

Lordesrapio

Sir good evening pano po kng kasama ko personal ung bf ko na korean mag re apply ng korean visa.kz my first apply i was denied

Hi Borge, naku, I’m not really sure kapag OFW. My guess is pwede naman. Dun sa ITR, you can submit ung tax document na equivalent ng ITR dyan sa China. And yes, submit a cover letter too to explain.

But again, this is just a hunch. Best to consult a travel agency to be sure.

jessica

Hi Yoshke. Thanks for your blog, it really helped with my Korean visa application last year and this year. Anyway, I just want to ask if you have any idea if i can still apply for a another visa this year? I went to Korea last month (visa valid sep 4 – dec 4 2018) and would like to go back this December. Thank You :)

Hi Jessica, yes, you can apply again basta used mo na ung past visa mo. :)

Lav Gaudan

Hi Yoshke, do you have any idea if the consulate in Cebu also honors the promo for BPI and BDO gold CC holders? Thank you. :)

Hi Lav, that I don’t know. :(

Kim

Hi my friend was denied of visa in Korea with information given(your purpose of entry has not been exolain in details) reason na denied..pwede pa kaya sya mag appeal provided details sa details.. appeal letter…complete nan lakat un docs nya at may US at japan visa sya before..may itinerary nm na kasama yn application..pwede kaya sa cebu korean embassy thru travel agency?or need nya magpunta at mag walk in? 2weeks na lng alis namin kaya may option kaya yn?denied dito sa manila korea embassy pero pag mag appeal sa cebu daw kasi sa bgc manika di allow.thank u for your insights..badly needed suggestions

Hi Kim, you can reapply at Cebu consulate. Via travel agency is okay, provided that you address their reason for denial by submitting additional relevant documents. A lot of our readers have done it and got approved in Cebu.

recel mallari

Hi Yoske me and my daughter got denied visa last march 26 2019 for the reason You failed to prove the purpose of travel in South Korea what documents do i need to add for appeal?

What docs did you submit the last time?

Gess

Hello.. do they have LbC service? Cause we live in leyte.. we were thinking that we would apply visa personally then ipaLBC nlang nila sa address namin after maprocess ng consulate ang visa namin.

Meg Etzel

Hi there! I have been to Korea last 2015 and to 2 OECD countries namely Japan and Australia last March and August this year, respectively; visa and passport used were with my maiden name. However, I got married last January this year and had just renewed my passport last September with my married name. My concern is I am still using my maiden name on my business permits and ITR since 2016. I have 2 bank accounts in which are with my maiden and married name. Will be an affidavit of explanation suffice? I am planning to apply for a visa next month. Please enlighten me. Thanks and kind regards, Meg

Hi Meg, not sure if it’s enough, but I think yep Affidavit of Explanation and Marriage Certificate would certainly help.

Roxy

Hi po how to get ITR po ba?

get it from your employer.

MARIA MELISSA LARGO

Hi po! Im planning to get a Korean Visa this February. Can I use the 2017 ITR kasi pina process pa po ang 2018 ITR namin, hindi pa po available? Thank you!

Yep, pwede pa ung 2017!

Juviell

Hi po! I resigned last October 2018 from my previous company and I got my BIR 2316 (2018) from them just this December. Can I use that in applying visa this February? Since my current employer cannot provide one yet because the submission of Alpha List on BIR is February pa daw. They just provided a certification letter regarding my request from them. And is it ok na wlang stamp ng BIR? Only a signature from my previous employer. Thank you!

Hi Juviell, yep, you can use that for your application.

So di ko alam if need pa rin now or need pa rin sa Cebu.

Omen

Bale two kami magaapply for visa. May chance pa kaya ako maapproved nito? Thanks in advance pooo

Hi Omen, according to designated travel agencies we talked to, mas maganda talaga na ang sponsor ay family member kaysa friend.

Ang alam ko po, last time I checked po, no na, pero need to prove your relationship with your aunt/uncle (birth certs).

chummy

Joselly

Hi po! I’m planning to travel to SK this July. Pwede na po kaya ako makaka apply ng visa this feb or March? Or does it have to be 3 mos before travel date? Please reply

Hi Joselly, a regular visa has a validity period of 3 months. (You can use the visa once within the next 3 months after issue.) So 3 months talaga ang best.

A. How long is the trip supposed to be?

My family applied for a korean tourist visa and sad to say nadeny yong husband ko po at yong kapatid niya. We are planning to reapply in Cebu and you’re advise will be very much appreciated…ako po ang magpifinance sa family tour namin kasi dahil kakaopen lang ni husband ng business niya.

Mharianel

hello po. i’m currently working as a digital marketing assistant. so online job po siya. may chance po ba na maka travel ako sa SK?

Yep, just prove na may online job ka.

Mira

Hi! Me and my bf recently applied for a korean visa. And the paranoid me is not really sure if we’ll get approved due the below facts: 1. My boyfriend just recently started working as a freelance doctor (moonlighting as they call it) last Jan 2019 since he also recently passed the board exam last Nov 2018. (Stated this in a cover letter to explain why he can’t provide for an ITR) but we supported this with his freelance contract providing consultancy services with a clinic he works at right now. 2. He included the SOA of his mom’s BDO gold credit card to which he has a supplementary card. Problem is the Soa is named to his mom and we weren’t able to include nso as proof of relationship (only stated his mom’s name under emergency contact) 3. He indicated in his form that he is “self-employed” plus checked “others” and indicated freelancer. 4. Our bank statement is a bit sketchy as it shows a huge sum deposited withih the month of bank cert request since we sold the motorbike we owned before (we have a new one) and he e-transfered money to me it can be seen in the transaction history. His ADB is 10k since he just recently started work while mine is around 40k. Both of us have 90k+ in our bpi bank accts opened since 2012.

Aside from these, we provided everything completely. I am employed for 4 yrs already. We also travelled to other countries in the last 2 years bangkok (2017 both of us) and taiwan (him only just this feb 2019)

Does this highly affect our chances of getting approved? :( will be so sad if we het denied since we’ve already booked our trip this coming Apr 16. Huhu hoping for your thoughts on this. Thank you!!

Hi Mira, at this point, since you already submitted, there’s nothing you can do but wait.

The good news is, the Korean Embassy may be strict but they are considerate. If they feel like most documents are okay but they have a little doubt, they won’t reject right away. They’d call you and ask for more supporting documents.

We also received a notice from the Korean Embassy (through an agency) that because of the volume of applications this summer, the processing time takes much longer than usual.

Roxanne

Hello. I just want to ask if kung needed pa po ba yung ITR ko kahit walang stamp? I have everything except lang po sa stamp sa ITR ko. May guarantor po ako from Korea. I already have his bank statement, letter of invitation and letter as a guarantor.

Christina Fandrich

Hello Po. Please Help

Ravi

You will have to make a guarantor’s letter, stating that yoo will shoulder their trip. Attach your passport cover page, birth cert, cert of employment, bank account and details, itr

Hi Christina, I think nag-aapply sa kanila ung list for HOUSEWIVES. Pero call a designated agency na rin to be sure.

Lime

Hi, would you know if it’s okay if a relative (who’s not traveling with me to SK) is the one submitting my documents at the Cebu consulate? And do I need to provide an authorization letter or sign a proxy form if ever? Thank you!

I have applied recently sa Korean Cebu Consulate, and correction 1 id is enough. Only at the China bank lobby will they ask for the id. Coz you to log your purpose and what floor you’re going. Thsn at the 12th floor, you are only told to log your name, birthday and give your phone so that the cameras be covered. Then choose on the automated machine your purpose and get a number. By the way, they will no longer review whatever you submitted and will just give you a slip on the possible date of pick up.

Camille

Hi Ravi, Is the processing days on cebu just 7 working days? I have a flight on Nov 10 and I think when I apply here in manila I won’t make it on time. Is it possible if I fly from manila to Cebu and apply on Oct 21,2019.. can i make it to my flight on november 10? The reason why it is on October 21 because my passport is not yet available before oct 21. Hope someone can help me with my issue :(

Chimba

Hello, would you know if they require personal appearance in submitting the requirements? We’re family of 8 and we’re thinking if only one of us can go to Cebu and apply there. We’re actually running out of time so we thought of applying in Cebu instead.

Hi Chimba, no. You can also hire an agency rin in Cebu to submit it on your behalf.

Thanks for sharing, Ravi. They must have changed some of the steps.

We’ll be applying again in Cebu soon too, so we’ll have the chance to experience again.

nowell

hi maam i sent you an email

marichel

Is there an express visa in the Korean Embassy in Cebu?

Zenny Paras

Hi. Can i email Korean Consulate in Cebu directly or call if the processing is still 10 working days? We badly need the visa because our flight is on Nov. 2. Thank you.

jess marie

Hi! did you have a chance to contact them? Is it still 10 days?

Yep, you can contact them to confirm the processing time.

Eva Alonos

Hi Yoshie, may i ask about the funding details. I am an employee of an airline company and one of the benefit is using free tickets for me and my dependent. I’ll be travelling with my sister, what are we going to put in “travel related expenses”is it myself or the company where i’m working?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure if this is good advice because I’ve never run into the same problem. But if I were in your position, I’d just write myself as the person funding the trip since I’d be taking care of most of the expenses anyway. Then I’ll just probably write a cover letter explaining that you will be taking care of most of the expenses but your company will be shouldering the ticket as part of employment benefits.

That’s just me, though.

Thank you very much Yoshke. :)

You’re welcome. :)

Jehan M.

Hi po My friends and In planning na magpunta korea sa Nov 2020 matagal pa naman po, Pero gusto na namin e process ang visa.. In my case po kasi ung friends ko mga ofw tapos ako employed po dito need ko pa po bang kumaha ng travel authority from my office? 6 days po ung stay namin don..

Often, the visa will allow you to enter Korea within the 3 months (90 days) of the issue date. If you apply now, baka expired na ang visa before pa magstart yung trip nyo if November 2020 pa.

Daisy Dolosa Serrano

Shella Ildefonso/Diserie Oyao

Their last announcement was 26 days, but that was October. Best to call them or email them at [email protected]

Thank you for being so helpful sir.

Ace Alvin

Hi I just want to ask if using online banking in lieu of a bank statement would suffice? My bank told me it’s basically the same. I still haven’t received my bank statement yet and I am worried that I might ran out of time in applying for my visa before my flight.

Genevievecaballeroloquinario

Andy Eggenman

Hi! :) Planning to apply early next year. Can I include my Chinese visa in the OECD requirements? Will that still count even if China is just a ‘key partner’?

Gwynn

Do we still need to apply on-line schedule here in Korean Consulate of Cebu? the last time I went there, I was requested to go to a certain link for on-line schedule. However, there is no link or is not anymore available.

List of Accredited Travel Agencies for Korean Visa in the Philippines

Updated list of Accredited Travel Agencies for Korean Visa in the Philippines are posted in this page. If you are planning to travel and visit South Korea soon, it is important to lodge your visa application at the following travel agents only.

Important: Due to COVID-19 pandemic, kindly check the updated and latest visa announcements from the Korean Embassy official website before you travel Korea.

The Korean Embassy in the Philippines announced that visa applications would be processed through selected travel agencies approved by them. This is due to the fact that the increasing number of Korean visa applications are climbing up the charts.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea , “Total number of visa applicants increased from 90,000 in the year 2015 to 120,000 by the end of 2016. In the year 2017, total number of visa applicants recorded was around 160,000.”

The number of visa applications unexpectedly increased in 2018 and will continue to grow as many foreign tourists are adding places in Korea to their bucket list.

Filipinos are among the rising number of tourists who enjoy visiting Korea. Favorite travel spots in Korea include the city of Seoul, Nami Island, Gyeongbok Palace, Everland theme park, Jeju Island, Seoul Tower, Love Lock, Petite France , Myeongdong Street and many more attractions.

list of accredited travel agencies for korean tourist visa application philippines

While getting a Korean tourist visa is one of the easiest ways to get a visa from OECD countries according to Filipino travelers, some still struggle for successful applications. What I can advice is to submit complete documents and always be consistent with your personal details from all your documents.

Additionally, some major credit cards companies in the Philippines partnered with banks like BDO and BPI, are allowed to waive Income Tax Returns as one of the requirements in applying for a Korean tourist visa in the country.

The Korean Embassy in the Philippines authorized these 35 accredited travel agencies to process Korean visa applications in the Philippines. We must strictly follow this new guideline to process our visa permit before going to Korea.

It was also noted that the embassy will no longer accept any walk-in applicant with the exemption for spouses and children of Koreans, holders of visa issuance number, government employees with official business trip, and for those with humanitarian reason to travel to Korea urgently.

Travelers who love visiting Korea can also now apply for Express Visa. Again, this can be accommodated via accredited travel agency approved by the embassy. The process is faster, it is within 2 days (prior to the pandemic).

Seoul strives to attract more foreign tourists

City government showcases unique attractions to international travel agencies

The Seoul Metropolitan Government is taking proactive steps to entice more international tourists, inviting officials from overseas travel agencies to craft tailored tourism products targeting the younger generations.

According to the city government and Seoul Tourism Organization, Monday, six officials representing overseas travel agencies from five countries — China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines — visited Seoul from April 29 to May 2 for a preliminary exploration tour of the city.

The trip was part of a strategic initiative by the city government aimed at fostering B2B partnerships with major international travel agencies. This aims to showcase the city’s unique attractions while providing active backing for the creation and implementation of travel agencies’ tourism products within Seoul.

Since 2016, the city has signed business agreements with 45 travel agencies from 22 countries, including key markets in the tourism sector like China, Japan and Southeast Asia, as well as emerging regions such as Europe, the U.S. and the Middle East.

This strategic maneuver has laid the groundwork for a robust collaboration framework aimed at bolstering Seoul's global tourism appeal and ensuring its competitiveness in the international tourism market.

Following the recent inaugural Seoul Fam Tour, the city plans to host two additional pre-exploration tours in June for travel agencies from Europe, the U.S. and Middle Eastern nations, and in September for those from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan.

The first preliminary tour of the year focused on key locales such as Seongsu-dong in Seongdong District as well as Yongsan, both experiencing a surge in popularity among the influential 20s and 30s demographic, driving the city’s tourism trends.

During their tour, the participants also visited the Seoul Hiking Tourism Center near Mount Bugak and attended Seoul Festa 2024, which is one of the city’s representative spring festivals. These experiences showcased Seoul's diverse and engaging tourism offerings, ranging from urban hiking experiences to immersive cultural festivities.

Seoul Hiking Tourism Center, located on Samcheong-dong Street in Jongno District, caters to both local and international tourists by offering comprehensive hiking tour information in multiple languages, such as Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese. Rental services for hiking gear are also provided, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable hiking experience without the need for prior arrangements.

Seoul Festa stands out as the city's premier spring festival, spanning iconic tourism locations such as Seoul Plaza, Gwanghwamun Plaza, Myeong-dong and Jamsil Hangang Park. This year's festival commenced on May 1 and ran until Monday. Open to both local residents and international visitors, the festival offers a vibrant immersion into Korean culture across diverse realms such as beauty, fashion, K-pop, gastronomy and art.

After the tour, travel agency representatives exchanged insights on emerging tourism trends and suggested enhancements for the city’s tourism infrastructure. Each travel agency reportedly intends to unveil distinctive tourism offerings in Seoul, drawing inspiration from their experiences on the preliminary tour.

Seongsu-dong emerged as a standout tourist destination according to multiple travel agencies. Despite the intermittent operation of pop-up stores, the area's vibrant street atmosphere with a diverse range of pop-up establishments was highlighted for its appeal to a wide spectrum of tastes and age groups.

Additionally, officials from travel agencies proposed enhancements for tourism in Seoul. One suggestion was the installation of information signs at tourist spots with numerous alleys to improve visitor convenience. They also recommended increasing the number of trash cans to promote cleanliness and a pleasant tourism experience within the city.

"We are committed to ongoing collaboration with leading international travel agencies to develop distinctive tourism offerings in Seoul that resonate with global audiences," said Kim Young-hwan, the director general of the Tourism and Sports Bureau at the city government.
