The US tour kicks off August 10 in Uncasville, Connecticut before hitting East Coast cities such as Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Bristow, Philadelphia, New York, and more. The run concludes with what will surely be an epic performance at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on September 14. From there, the band will travel to Europe and the UK. That leg of the global tour kicks off on September 23 in Lisbon, Portugal, and wraps up on October 12 in Prague, Czech Republic.

‘Anti’: When Rihanna Rejected The Pop Paradigm

The band will also release a live album The Feeling of Falling Upwards – Live from The Royal Albert Hall digitally on April 14.

Tickets will be available for North American shows starting with a Citi presale on Tuesday, April 11. The general on sale begins Friday, April 14 at 10am Local Time.

Before they were a multi-platinum selling band with an international fanbase of millions, 5 Seconds of Summer was the angst-driven passion project of four teenage boys in Sydney, Australia.

Guitarists Luke Hemmings and Michael Clifford, bassist Calum Hood, and drummer Ashton Irwin had all been students of the pop punk genre prior to coming together in 2011 – they’d learned about ditching their hometown and the uncertainty of love from Mayday Parade; discovered the art of striking a balance between humor and depth from  Blink-182 , and Green Day gave them a crash course in rebellion. These influences – merged with each member’s own individual creativity – created the distinctive 5SOS sound.

5 Seconds of Summer’s propensity for staying in sync as the project of four musicians with distinct influences and skills is what has allowed them to consistently reconstruct their sound across their four albums. Learning from their work, rather than being anchored by it, Clifford, Hood, Hemmings, and Irwin are on pace for continued evolution.

5 Seconds of Summer Kick Off 2023 World Tour With Live Debuts

5 Seconds of Summer kicked off their 2023 world tour on July 19 at Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Their trip around the globe will consist of 37 stops, with a final show on October 12 at the Fortuna Sports Hall in Prague, Czech Republic before heading over to Las Vegas, Nevada for the When We Were Young festival.

5SOS reportedly started things off at 9:05pm, playing for a total of two hours. The night consisted of a wide variety songs from the group's discography, including older tracks that haven't been heard in years and two live debuts.

Fans were hit with quite a shock when the band played "She's Kinda Hot," with many online claiming that they 'must be dreaming' and it's 'exactly what they needed in 2023.' The song hasn't made an appearance in a show since 2018. Another oldie but goodie songs that longtime '5SOS Fam' members were excited about include "Vapor," "Don't Stop," and "Why Won't You Love Me."

Like other popular artists such as Taylor Swift and Fall Out Boy, 5 Seconds of Summer have decided to utilize the art of a 'surprise song,' opting to have a gigantic dice be thrown around the audience to decide which would be played!

That night, luck fans in the audience were treated to "Heartache on the Big Screen," which hasn't been played since 2016!

The live debuts came closer to the end of the show, but they were both definitely worth the wait. "You Don't Go To Parties" off of their fifth studio album, 5SOS5 that came out in 2022 was up first.

Then came "Best Friends" off of the same album, which got many in the audience emotional as they chanted the lyrics.

The performance included reimagined versions of songs from their 11-year catalog including brand-new songs from their critically acclaimed fifth studio album 5SOS5 , accompanied by a 12-piece string orchestra and a 12-member gospel choir.

“’The Feeling of Falling Upwards’ is simply supposed to describe to you the feeling that we have experienced together, the feeling of taking a leap of faith on such a fickle thing like music,” expressed vocalist and drummer Ashton Irwin on stage at Royal Albert Hall, “And sharing this experience together year after year, season after season of our lives.”

5SOS Say Goodbye for Now With ‘The 5 Seconds of Summer Show’ Documentary Concert Film

  • By Larisha Paul

Larisha Paul

Earlier this year, during each night on their tour, The 5 Seconds of Summer Show , 5SOS offered an earnest refrain to their audience. “Memories I hold to keep safe, and I live for that look on your face,” all four members sang into their mics during “Best Friends,” from their latest album 5SOS5 . The tour — complete with elaborate skits, copious amounts of confetti, and fan-favorite deep cuts — was a celebration not only of their 10th anniversary as a band, but also of the fanbase they’ve cultivated during that time.

Now, both the band and their fans can revel in the memory of their own personal eras tour with the newly released documentary -concert film The 5 Seconds of Summer Show . The hour-long release, available on YouTube, captures 5SOS’ Amsterdam concert in October paired with behind-the-scenes content capturing how the tour’s concept came together.

The film features the Australian band performing Saturday Night Live- level skits on stage from cosplaying as doctors delivering brutal news (“You’ve been diagnosed a 5SOS fan”) to an ad for 5Sauce, paired with giant condiment bottles when the crowed gets sauced.

Editor’s picks

Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history.

“Doing this tour, and it being so well received, has even more ignited this new frame of mind for the band,” frontman Luke Hemmings added. “We can have these songs that maybe sound like this and feel more in touch with the younger songs we wrote, but also going forward into a next album and tour, personally not being afraid of having a bit more fun with it and really capturing what the spirit of the band is.”

At the end of each night, 5SOS closed out the show with a double encore of “Outer Space” from 2015’s Sounds Good Feels Good and “Youngblood” from 2018’s Youngblood . In Amsterdam, as they launched into the latter song, Hemmings cut to the heart with with a parting message: “Thank you, we’ll see you in a couple of years.”

5SOS released five studio albums over nearly ten years — plus three live albums — and have taken each around the world on tour. The years flew by, and now that the 5 Seconds of Summer Show is complete, Clifford (who recently welcomed his first child), Hemmings, drummer Ashton Irwin, and bassist Calum Hood have returned to living mode as fans await their shift back into album mode.

Like the other major career-spanning tours we’ve witnessed this summer, The 5 Seconds of Summer Show centered the unbreakable bond formed when fans grow up with their favorite artists as the soundtrack of their lives. “I think the fans have really responded to it because if you’ve been following the band for 10 years,” Hemmings said, “it’s like your whole youth.”

Steelers 2024 schedule: Ranking five reasons why Pittsburgh's slate might be NFL's toughest

There are several major hurdles pittsburgh will have to overcome.

tomlin-6.png

In 2008, the Pittsburgh Steelers navigated through the NFL's toughest schedule to win the franchise's sixth and most recent Super Bowl . If Pittsburgh is going to win its seventh Super Bowl this year, it'll once again have to overcome what may be the league's hardest slate.

On paper, the Steelers have a team that is capable of making the playoffs and making noise once they get there. I have them going 10-7 for a second straight year, but I admit that that projection is a pretty optimistic one. A 10-win regular season would be a pretty significant accomplishment for the Steelers, based on their schedule.

Below is my ranking of the five reasons why Mike Tomlin's team may have the NFL's toughest regular season schedule. Before diving into those, we should quickly mention a few positives to Pittsburgh's schedule: a Week 9 bye and the fact that the Steelers host three primetime games (the Cowboys in Week 5, the Jets in Week 7 and the Giants in Week 8). Pittsburgh also gets to host the Chiefs on Christmas instead of having to travel to Kansas City.

5. 10 games against teams with winning records

Admittedly, only two of Pittsburgh's first eight games are against teams that had winning records in 2023 (at Colts in Week 5, at home against the Cowboys in Week 5). But that doesn't include a season-opener against a Falcons team that, on paper, should be a much improved squad than the one that compiled three 7-10 records each of the last three years.

Pittsburgh's first eight games also include home games against two of the NFL's best quarterbacks in the Chargers ' Justin Herbert and the Jets ' Aaron Rodgers . The Jets are expected to be a major player in the AFC this year with the return of Rodgers, a four-time league MVP who missed most of the 2023 season with an Achilles injury.

4. Slew of early road games

Four of Pittsburgh's first six games are on the road, which obviously isn't ideal. A positive here is that three of the Steelers' five games will be played at Acrisure Stadium.

As alluded to above, the Steelers open with a road game against Atlanta, who will be led this year by four-time Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins . The Steelers will then try to snap their four-game losing streak in Denver the next week in Russell Wilson's first game against his old team.

Pittsburgh's early road schedule also includes games in always hostile Indianapolis and Las Vegas. The Steelers won in Sin City last year but got blown out in Indianapolis in Week 15.

3. NFL's third-hardest SOS

Based on last year's results, the Steelers have the third-hardest schedule in the NFL , behind only the Browns and the Ravens . Pittsburgh's opponents won a combined 53.3 percent of their games in 2023. That's daunting enough, but the Steelers' schedule is even tougher when you actually look at the games that are expected to be the easier ones.

We already talked about the Jets and Falcons, who should be significantly better than they were in 2023 because of Cousins and Rodgers. Another team that should give the Steelers fits that is largely being overlooked is the Commanders , who have made sweeping changes this offseason that includes the hiring of defensive guru Dan Quinn, the selection of quarterback of Jayden Daniels with the No. 2 overall pick and the free agent acquisitions of versatile running back Austin Ekeler , former Chiefs offensive lineman Nick Allegretti , three-time Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz and six-time All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner .

A positive for the Steelers is that they will face the Commanders in Week 10, which comes just after their Week 9 bye.

2. Two short weeks

The 2020 Steelers started 11-0 before stumbling to a 1-5 finish. A big reason for Pittsburgh's late-season collapse was season-ending injuries to starting linebackers Devin Bush and Bud Dupree . Playing three games in 12 days, which was the byproduct of the COVID-19 outbreak, also played a major role in Pittsburgh's collapse.

Like they did then, the Steelers will again face a condensed schedule after their Week 9 bye. After facing the Commanders in Week 10, the Steelers will face two AFC North division rivals over a five-day span. Pittsburgh will host the Ravens in Week 11 before traveling to Cleveland to face the Browns on Thursday night. Making this stretch even harder is the fact that the Ravens and Browns won a combined 24 regular season games in 2023.

That's not even the most condensed portion of Pittsburgh's schedule, though. Starting in Week 15, the Steelers will play three games in an 11-day span: at the Eagles on Dec. 15, at Baltimore on Dec. 21 and at home against the defending two-time champion Chiefs on Christmas Day. Those three teams won a combined 35 games in 2023.

1. Final eight games are against teams that had winning records in 2023

The Commanders are the final team the Steelers will face this year that did not post a winning record last year. Of Pittsburgh's final eight games, Cincinnati (who went 9-8 in 2023) is the only team that didn't make the playoffs last year. The Bengals are expected to be even better this year with quarterback Joe Burrow back after missing the back half of the 2023 season with a wrist injury.

Each of the Steelers' six divisional games will also take place during this stretch, starting with a home game against Baltimore in Week 11. Pittsburgh will play four consecutive games against division opponents before hosting the Bengals in Week 18.

Jimmy Dunne resigns from PGA Tour board. He feels his input is no longer needed

Tour Dunne Resigns FILE - PGA Tour board member Jimmy Dunne departs the witness table after testifying before a Senate Subcommittee on Investigations hearing on the proposed PGA Tour-LIV Golf partnership, July 11, 2023, on Capitol Hill in Washington. Jimmy Dunne, one of the architects behind the PGA Tour's stunning reversal to strike a deal with the Saudi backers of LIV Golf, abruptly resigned Monday from the PGA Tour board with a letter that expressed frustration at the lack of progress that no longer included his input.

Dunne, a power broker on Wall Street and in golf circles, was not included on the PGA Tour Enterprise's new “transaction subcommittee” that will be handling the direct negotiations with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.

Dunne and Ed Herlihy, an attorney specializing in mergers and acquisition and chairman of PGA Tour Inc., were whom PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan leaned on when he first met with Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the PIF governor, that led to the June 6 agreement .

The immediate result of the deal was an end to antitrust lawsuits neither side wanted and had already cost the PGA Tour in the neighborhood of $50 million. The tour has since brought on Strategic Sports Group as a minority investor in a deal initially worth $1.5 billion.

"As you are aware, I have not been asked to take part in negotiations with the PIF since June 2023," Dunne said in his letter to the board first obtained by Sports Illustrated .

“Since the players now outnumber the independent directors on the board, and no meaningful progress has been made towards a transaction with the PIF, I feel like my vote and my role is utterly superfluous,” he wrote.

The tour, feeling pushback and resentment for the secrecy behind the June 6 deal, appointed Tiger Woods to the board with no term limit. The board now has six player directors — Woods, Patrick Cantlay, Jordan Spieth, Webb Simpson, Adam Scott and Peter Malnati — and five independent directors.

Dunne is the second independent director to resign following the June 6 announcement. Randall Stephenson, former AT&T chairman, resigned in July over objections to the agreement with the Saudis.

Rory McIlroy resigned from the board in November, and player directors appointed Spieth to finish his term.

The move signals the tour in a state of disarray as it tries to work out a deal with PIF and start the process of unifying a sport that has been divided since LIV launched in June 2022.

The June 6 agreement included a deadline to complete a deal by the end of 2023. By then, the tour had private equity suitors and LIV Golf signed reigning Masters champion Jon Rahm and eventually Tyrrell Hatton.

Dunne said along with the lawsuits being dismissed — often overlooked as a key point in the agreement with PIF — the agreement did not contain an exclusivity clause that allowed players “a full range of options to seek outside investors.”

“That resulted in a multi-billion-dollar commitment from the Strategic Sports Group,” Dunne wrote. “I believe that history will look favorably on this outcome and the very real opportunities now afforded the tour.”

Monahan and the player directors eventually met with Al-Rumayyan for the first time in March, though there has been no clear progress on any deal — PIF as a minority investor or how to bring back the best players together more than four times a year at the majors.

Simpson, meanwhile, offered to resign from the board contingent on McIlroy replacing him. That never happened, with McIlroy saying last week "there was a subset of people on the board that were maybe uncomfortable with me coming back on for some reason."

Instead, McIlroy was added to the transaction subcommittee along with Woods; Scott; Monahan; liaison director Joe Ogilvie; Joe Gorder, the CEO of Valero Energy Corp. and chairman of PGA Tour Enterprises; and John W. Henry of Fenway Sports Group, a principal in SSG.

“It is crucial for the board to avoid letting yesterday’s differences interfere with today’s decisions, especially when they influence future opportunities for the tour,” Dunne wrote. “Unifying professional golf is paramount to restoring fan interest and repairing wounds left from a fractured game. I have tried my best to move all minds in that direction.”

According to the tour's bylaws, the four independent directors choose Dunne's replace after consulting the player directors and John Lindert, the PGA of America president who is a nonvoting board member.
