You know the name, the laid-back attitude and where to find them, but you’ll just have to visit The Bahamas to truly appreciate this classic cruise destination. On this 700-strong string of sun-splashed islands dotting the blue Atlantic, the living’s easy. (And it’s not bad on a Bahamas cruise either!) The central port of Nassau is the bustling capital of the country — “bustling” is a relative term, of course — while Freeport is all chill, all the time. And then there’s Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays: pure private-destination paradise, the likes of which could put a smile on the face of someone who really loves frowning. Enjoy sailing, snorkeling, strolling pearly pink-sand beaches, and swimming through crystalline turquoise seas on a Bahamas cruise.
- Swim and splash in sparkling waters.
- Taste the private destination life on Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays.
- Explore the expansive Atlantis resort.

Bahamas Cruises from New York City
A vacation whisking you away to the Bahamas shouldn’t start with a long drive to the South. Instead, if you currently reside in the Mid-Atlantic region, you have the option of starting from New York City – and get a diverse range of cruise lines to boot.
The Bahamas is a choice destination for many travelers. Its soft, white sands present the prime location for enjoying the sun and the surf, outdoor enthusiasts can swim or kayak through clear blue waters, and the island’s architecture and history are things of marvel. So, for planning your trip, what can you do?
Cruise Lines
Both Carnival and Norwegian Cruise Line offer Bahamas cruise itineraries sailing round-trip from New York City. Trips start at seven nights and last up to 14 nights, depending upon the itinerary.
Ports & Itineraries
You have a choice of three basic itineraries: • Round-trip cruises that take you to one or more ports in the Bahamas and back to New York. • Longer round-trip cruises that go to the Bahamas, make a stop in Bermuda or another Caribbean location, and then return to New York. • Round-trip cruises that spend time in the Bahamas and then return to the mainland on the way back for stops in Canada and New England.
Once you’re in the Bahamas, your ship may stop in:
Nassau: Out of all possible destinations in the Bahamas, Nassau, the country’s capital, is a must-see for a few reasons. One, the city is a cultural melting pot, characterized by Caribbean, African, and European influences. Second, it’s the heart of nightlife and shopping in the Bahamas, with duty-free shops, clubs, and casinos abounding. Of course, as you’re on a cruise, you’ll get ample time to relax on the beach and explore its natural attractions, including Predator Lagoon and Blackbeard’s Cay.
Half Moon Cay: As a contrast to the big-city character of Nassau, Half Moon Cay is known for its natural wonders – so much that many around the world consider it an ecotourism destination. Make it a priority, then, to explore its beaches and lagoons.
Great Stirrup Cay: Norwegian Cruise Lines turned this location, part of the Berry Islands, into its own private resort. Nearly all NCL itineraries include this stop, known for its white sandy beaches, designated snorkeling area, clear blue waters, and WaveRunner®. As well, NCL equipped the area with an 8,500 square foot buffet and private beachfront cabanas.

Best Time For cruises from nYC to bahamas
If you’re planning a cruise from New York to the Bahamas, you want to make sure you choose the best time to go. The weather in the Bahamas is warm and sunny year-round, but there are still some months that are better than others for cruising.
The best time to cruise from New York to the Bahamas is from December to April. This is the dry season in the Bahamas meaning you’ll have the best chance of sunny skies and calm seas. The average temperature during this time is in the mid-70s to low-80s, which is perfect for lounging on the deck and soaking up the sun.
If you’re looking for the best deals on Bahamas cruises, you may want to consider cruising during the shoulder season. This is the time between the high and low seasons, and it generally runs from May to November. While you may experience some rain and wind during this time, you’ll also find lower prices and fewer crowds.
Keep in mind that hurricane season in the Bahamas runs from June to November, so if you’re cruising during this time, be sure to keep an eye on the weather forecast and be prepared for itinerary changes.
There you have it, my 3 best Bahamas cruises from New York. As usual, let me know of your experiences here or if there is anything you think I need to add.
Also, please do not hesitate to comment below if you have any questions, concerns, or corrections or would like me to check anything else out for you.
Until next time.
My name is Paul and I love traveling with my wife Nic. We have been lucky enough in my life to be able to see a lot of the world. Oh, and not to mention all those tedious business trips that actually got me to places I would never have gone to as well.
But here’s the thing, we have made all of the mistakes that a traveler can make and have learned a lot along the way so we like to think we have a fairly good idea in regards to what it’s all about. So let's dive in.

You can pack light for this high-seas adventure.
An 11-day nude cruise is scheduled to set sail from Miami to the Caribbean next February — and you won’t even need an overstuffed suitcase.
Bare Necessities is partnering with Norwegian Cruise Line for the flesh-flashing event, which will see clothing-averse customers travel on board the Norwegian Pearl.
The 968-foot vessel, which can accommodate up to 2,300 passengers, has been renamed “The Big Nude Boat” for the journey.
“As always, it’s our pleasure to provide you with the luxury of deciding what NOT to wear,” a message on the Bare Necessities site reads.
The cruise will make stops in the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and St. Maarten, but customers will have to cover up if they disembark the ship to do any sightseeing.
Passengers are also subject to strict rules on board — most notably, they will be required to wear clothing while inside the vessel’s indoor dining rooms.
However, there will be a “large buffet area for nude outdoor dining.”
In order to maintain hygiene, nudists will also need to put a towel down before sitting “in the stateroom, pool deck and buffet area” if they’re baring their bottoms.
Bare Necessities also makes clear that “fondling or inappropriate touching is prohibited.”
Prices for the nude cruise start at around $2,000, but cashed-up nudists can fork out upwards of $33,000 for a deluxe three-bedroom villa.
Bare Necessities has already chartered more than 75 nude cruises in the past, with one prior passenger speaking out about the experience in a recent Reddit post.
“Cruises seem to be for people who like to eat and lie around, so there were a lot of large people,” the 67-year-old man admitted.
“Also, most people don’t seem to be comfortable being nude in public until later in life so the crowd was older. I’d say 20% attractive, 20% average, 60% unattractive,” he added.

Stormy Daniels concludes her testimony as prosecutors call next witness
Carnival cruise passengers airlifted by air force in dramatic rescue.
A mother and her child in crisis were airlifted by helicopter from a Carnival Cruise Line ship on Saturday in a hair-raising Air Force rescue.
Two HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters, two HC-130J Combat King 11 aircraft and two teams of combat rescue officers and pararescuemen based at Patrick Space Force Base in Brevard County, Florida, flew 350 nautical miles off the U.S. eastern coast to reach the Carnival Venezia, the 920th Rescue Wing said Tuesday.
The ship had set sail on April 26 from Port Canaveral, Florida, for a 10-day cruise to the Bahamas and Caribbean. To reach the Venezia's location, rescuers needed three air-to-air refuelings, the Air Force said.
Dramatic photos show the unnamed woman and her son being hoisted up into the helicopter from the ship's deck.

44-foot whale found dead on bow of cruise ship as it came into New York

A 44-foot endangered whale was found dead on the bow of a cruise ship as it sailed into New York City on Saturday.

The whale — a female Sei whale — was discovered as MSC Cruises’ Meraviglia docked at the Port of Brooklyn, according to The Associated Press.
“We can confirm with deep regret that on Saturday a whale was discovered on the bow of our ship as the vessel approached the port of New York,” an MSC spokesperson said in a statement.
“We immediately notified the relevant authorities, who are now conducting an examination of the whale,” they added.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of any marine life. We have comprehensive measures in place to help avoid collisions, such as training all our deck officers with the Ocean Research & Conservation Association (ORCA) and we follow regulations designed to protect whales and other marine life,” the statement continued.
“This includes altering itineraries in certain regions to avoid whales and we will continue to evaluate and update our procedures with our partners and the authorities,” the company said.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration , Sei whales are endangered. They are typically found in deeper waters far from the coastline, the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society said on Facebook.
The Atlantic Marine Conservation Society performed a necropsy on the whale, but has not yet determined if the animal was dead when the ship hit it or whether it was killed by the impact.
The whale was towed to shore at Sandy Hook, New Jersey.
The Atlantic Marine Conservation Society said in a Facebook post that a “necropsy examination (animal autopsy) revealed evidence of tissue trauma along the right shoulder blade region and a right flipper fracture. The whale’s gastrointestinal tract was also full of food.”
“Most of the other organs were sampled as well for toxicology and other life history studies,” the message added. “The tissue and bone samples collected will help biologists determine if the vessel interaction occurred pre or post mortem,”
