  • intend to complete a period of study no longer than three months long
  • have adequate health insurance
  • have enough money to support your stay

Documents required for visa 600

The Australian immigration authority can request different documents according to the country of origin and the intention of the visitor once in Australia. You may be required to supply:

  • a completed application form
  • copies of biographical page of passport
  • a recent passport-sized photograph with your name written on the back
  • details of any name changes
  • copy of birth certificate
  • proof of sufficient funds for your stay in Australia, such as a bank statement
  • proof there is incentive to return to your home country, such as enrolment at school, employment proof, or proof of ownership of assets in your home country
  • evidence of enrolment at the learning institution
  • evidence of a return flight ticket

How can people transfer from visitor visa 600 to student visa?

Transferring from a visitor visa to a student visa while you are in Australia can be complex pathway. It can only be done if your visitor visa doesn’t have any ‘no further stay’ conditions. Moving from a visitor visa to student visa also increases your chances of your visa application being refused, due to the genuine temporary entrant (GTE) requirement. The immigration department may claim that the reasons for your education visa are not genuine, and this could be a reason they may decline your student visa application.

For either of these scenarios, you will need to return to your home country and apply for a student visa from there.

If you have condition 8503 applied to your tourist visa conditions, you can apply to have this waived. This condition states that the visa holder will not be entitled to a substantive visa while they remain in Australia. You must satisfy the department that your circumstances have changed, the circumstances were beyond your control, and be compelling.

Alongside the usual student visa requirements, you will be required to prove to the Australian immigration department:

  • that your reasons for not studying in your home country are valid
  • that you have sufficient reasons to return to your home country once your student visa has expired
  • there is no unrest in your home country that could stop you from returning home freely
  • there is nothing in your immigration history that indicates your intention to remain in Australia
  • the course is valid, relevant, and appropriate to your current education or employment
  • that this course will ensure future employment
  • that you have complied with all previous and current visa terms, and have the continued intention to comply with the new student visa.

You will be required to prepare a written statement demonstrating your GTE, addressing all the factors above. Evidence of your claims should also be included.

Understanding the processing time for australian tourist visas.

Understanding the Processing Time for Australian Tourist Visas

Australia, known for its stunning landscapes, unique wildlife, and vibrant cities, is a top tourist destination. To facilitate your journey, understanding the processing time for Australian tourist visas is crucial. This guide will delve into the specifics of the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa, Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), and the available express and priority processing options. We'll also explain what to expect in a visa grant notice.

Whether you're dreaming of Sydney's iconic Opera House or the serene beauty of the Outback, a clear grasp of the visa process, including the anticipation of your visa grant notice, is your first step towards an unforgettable Australian adventure.

Introduction to Australian Tourist Visas

An Australia tourist visa is essential for anyone planning to visit Australia for tourism, visiting family or friends, or for short-term non-work purposes. The most common types are the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa and the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). Each has its own requirements, processing times, and conditions.

The Subclass 600 Visa caters to tourists, business visitors, and family visits, offering various streams with differing processing times. For expedited travel, express and priority processing options are available. Upon approval, a visa grant notice is issued, detailing the visa conditions. The ETA, meanwhile, offers a swift electronic authorization for short-term visits, ideal for eligible passport holders planning brief stays in Australia.

Subclass 600 Visitor Visa

The Subclass 600 Visitor Visa is designed for those who wish to visit Australia for tourism, business visitor activities, or to visit family. It has several streams: Tourist, Business Visitor, Sponsored Family, and Approved Destination Status.

The processing time for this visa can vary, influenced by application volume and individual circumstances. For expedited processing, applicants may consider express and priority processing options. Upon approval, the visa grant notice details the conditions and validity of the stay. Applicants need to provide accurate information and apply well in advance, ensuring a smooth entry into Australia's breathtaking landscapes and bustling cities.

Processing Times for Subclass 600 Visitor Visa

Processing times for the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa vary depending on the stream:

Tourist Stream:

Processing can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months. It's affected by factors like the volume of applications, seasonal peaks, and individual circumstances.

Business Visitor Stream:

This typically has a faster processing time than the Tourist Stream.

Sponsored Family Stream:

This can take longer due to additional checks and balances.

Approved Destination Status Stream:

Aimed at citizens from certain areas of China visiting in tour groups, this stream generally has a quick processing time.

Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)

The ETA (subclass 601) is an electronically stored authority for short-term visits to Australia. It's available to passport holders from certain countries and is often processed quickly, typically within 24 hours. An ETA, distinct from the more comprehensive Subclass 600 Visitor Visa, allows multiple entries for stays up to three months each within 12 months. It's ideal for tourism or short business visits. Applicants must apply online, ensuring a hassle-free process. However, it’s advisable to apply in advance to accommodate any processing delays, ensuring a smooth Australian travel experience.

Express and Priority Processing Options

For those needing to travel urgently, express and priority processing options are available. Express and priority processing options significantly expedite the application process for Australian tourist visas, including the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa and the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). Designed for travelers needing urgent travel to Australia, these options involve additional fees but provide a faster turnaround in visa processing. While express processing is generally available for most visa types, priority processing is typically reserved for cases with compelling or compassionate reasons. Applicants should note that availability and eligibility for these services can vary and are at the discretion of the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Not all visa types are eligible for these services, and their availability can change based on the Australian Department of Home Affairs' discretion. Hence it is advisable to check current guidelines and eligibility criteria before applying.

Using Express and Priority Services

Express processing: .

This is usually available for the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa and can significantly reduce the processing time.

Priority Processing:

Often reserved for compelling or compassionate cases, priority processing requires substantial evidence to justify the urgency.

Visa Grant Notice

Once your Australian tourist visa application is processed, you will receive a visa grant notice. This important document contains details about your visa, including:

1. Visa Grant Number:

Essential for reference and for entering Australia.

2. Visa Conditions:

Includes the length of stay, entry requirements, and other conditions.

3. Validity Period:

Indicates how long the visa is valid for.

It's crucial to review the visa grant notice carefully to ensure that all details are correct and that you understand the conditions of your visa.

Tips for a Smooth Visa Application Process

  • Apply Early : To avoid any unforeseen delays, apply well in advance of your planned travel date.
  • Provide Accurate Information : Ensure all information and documents provided are accurate and complete.
  • Understand the Requirements : Be clear about the requirements of the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa or the ETA, whichever you are applying for.
  • Consider Express Options : If time is of the essence, consider using express and priority processing options.
  • Check Your Visa Grant Notice : Once received, thoroughly check your visa grant notice for any discrepancies.

Understanding the processing time for Australian tourist visas, including the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa and the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), is crucial for planning your trip to Australia. By preparing your application correctly and considering express and priority processing options if needed, you can ensure a smoother journey to experiencing the wonders of Australia.

Remember, the key to a successful application lies in careful preparation and adherence to the guidelines provided by the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Bon Voyage!

The processing time of a tourist visa Australia depends on individual cases.

  • The amount of visa applications and workload can also affect the processing times for visitor visas.

Updated processing time for Subclass 600 Visitor Visa

  • January 17, 2023

Visitor Visa

An Australian visitor visa allows individuals to travel to Australia for tourism or business purposes for a period of up to 12 months. Whilst it has other subclasses, such as Subclass 601 Eletronic Travel Authority and Subclass 651 eVisitor, it generally refers to a Subclass 600 Visitor visa.

There had been a long delay in the processing of visitor visas. This processing time has however reduced quite significantly. As at 17 January 2023,

  • 25% of Subclass 600 applications are processed within 8 days.
  • 50% of Subclass 600 applications are processed within 16 Days
  • 75% of Subclass 600 applications are processed within 33 Days
  • 90% of Subclass 600 applications are processed within 85 Days

To be eligible for a Tourist visa (subclass 600), you must:

  • Have a valid passport
  • Be able to prove that you will be financially strong for your stay in Australia
  • Have an acceptable purpose for the visit
  • Meet health and character requirements
  • Have a genuine intention to stay temporarily in Australia
  • Be outside Australia when you apply and be granted your visa

It is important to note that a visitor visa does not allow individuals to work or study in Australia. If you wish to work or study in Australia, you will need to apply for a different type of visa that permits you to work. If so, we strongly recommend that you seek legal advice concerning your migration options.

You cannot work.

You will need a visa if you enter Australia during a cruise. If your cruise is a round trip cruise, the time you spend on the cruise counts as time spent in Australia - that is, we do not consider you have left Australia. Visitor Visa: A Guide To Visitor Visa Subclass 600 For Australia [Update March 2023]

Nilesh Nandan · October 23, 2023 · 38 Comments

On This Page...

What Is A Subclass 600 Visitor Visa?

Subclass 600 is a visa that permits you to visit Australia as a tourist, to see family and friends or for business purposes on a temporary basis.

How Long Does A 600 Visitor Visa Last?

Grant periods are usually three, six or twelve months.

How Long Does It Take To Process A 600 Visa?

Processing times vary depending on which stream you are applying for, ranging from 16 Days to up to 5 months.

How Much Does A Subclass 600 Visa Cost?

The application fee for a subclass 600 visitor visa ranges from AUD$145 to AUD$1065. This depends on the stream that you are applying for.

If you are a passport holder of the following countries, you are eligible to apply for the Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601)  online  with a charge of AUD$20:

  • Brunei – Darussalam
  • Hong Kong (SAR PRC)
  • Korea, Rep of (South)
  • United States

If you are a citizen of the countries below and you hold a valid passport, you may be eligible to apply for an eVisitor visa (subclass 651) through your  Immi Account  for free:

Countires that are eligible to apply for an eVisitor visa subclass 651 Nilesh Nandan Immigration Lawyer

Which stream should I apply to?

There are 5 different streams for visitor visas:

Tourist stream

For the tourist stream, you can apply inside or outside Australia. However, if you are in Australia and you would like to lodge a visitor visa application, you must not have the dreaded ”  8503 No Further Stay  ” condition attached to your visa grant. Recently processing time is 3 months give or take 1 month.

Sponsored family stream

If you have a relative who is at least 18 years old and he or she is an Australian permanent resident or citizen, then you might be able to apply for a visitor visa under the sponsored family stream. Normal processing time for a family-sponsored visitor visa is 4 months plus or take 1 month.

Business visitor stream

This stream will suit you if you are currently outside Australia, and you plan to visit Australia for business purposes for a short time for business meetings but not actually to “work” in Australia. The normal processing time for this stream is typically shorter than the others. You will be required to provide evidence of your trip, this may include but is not limited to:

  • an invitation from a host organisation
  • conference registration details
  • a letter from your employer stating why you are visiting
  • your plans for your stay and details of your Australian business contacts
  • proof of your current employment and professional qualifications
  • evidence your company is an active business, such as an annual report
  • evidence of prior contact with Australian businesses

You can apply to fast-track your application under this stream if you are a citizen of China (Mainland), United Arab Emirates or India with an extra cost of AUD$1000. The fast track cannot be applied for online, you can check the  Immigration partner institution  for this service.

Approved destination status stream

This stream is for people who plan to travel as part of a group for a temporary short period of stay in Australia. Your travel agent can apply for this on your behalf. Please contact your local overseas-based travel agent for further assistance.

If you are a travel agent who is looking for assistance in applying for this visa stream for your client, and you need the help of an immigration lawyer, you can book a consultation with me to discuss this further.

Frequent traveller stream

If you are a passport holder of China (Mainland) who travels often to Australia for business or personal reasons, you may consider the frequent traveller stream which can be granted for up to 10 years with a stay of up to 3 months for each time you enter.

Health and character concerns?

Do you have  health issues ? Or do you have a criminal record that you are worried that Immigration might refuse your visitor visa application? Talk to me today. Book a consultation , and together we can decide what you should do next.

How do I apply for a tourist visa to Australia?

Visitor visas can be applied for online through an online portal called the  Immi Account  without any assistance and in most cases, you do not need the assistance of a  migration lawyer   like me .

You should understand that a visitor visa can be applied for in most cases outside of Australia (offshore) but also in limited cases when you are already inside Australia (onshore).

For a discussion about making an application for a visitor visa to enter Australia or for making a further visitor visa application or visitor visa extension whilst onshore, please  book a chat  with me to discuss your options.

How much money do you need in the bank?

To apply for a visitor visa, you need to satisfy the following requirements:

  • Be a  genuine temporary entrant
  • Have adequate means of support
  • Meet the Australia  Public Interest Criteria
  • Meet special return criteria

There is no specific amount of money that is required when you apply for a visitor visa. The case officer may seek evidence including, but not limited to:

  • bank statements and/or passbooks showing a consistent history of saving
  • letters from banks and/or other financial institutions concerning the financial position of the applicant or the applicant’s access to the funds of another person
  • air tickets that have already been purchased
  • available credit card funds.

Please note, cash and traveller’s cheques are not considered acceptable evidence of funds. You’ll need to prove that you “own” such funds. That’s awkward!

If you are invited by a family or friend, and they will cover the expenses for your stay, generally the person offering the support should confirm their offer, in writing.

You can  book a consultation with me to discuss how I can help you put a better visitor visa submission.

Your Experience?

Please share your comments with me.

I’d love to know more  about your experience with applying for this visa subclass!

Thank you very much for your question. Here are the first three (3) things that come to my mind in relation to your post. There may also be other important issues which arise from your particular circumstances and you should seek specific immigration law advice before taking any further steps. It could be that I misunderstood you.

1. To access the current processing times for a given visa type visit this site https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-processing-times/global-visa-processing-times . Remember it keeps changing.

2. Check that you have uploaded necessary supporting material.

3. I wonder whether you have travelled previously to Australia on a visitor Visa. Make sure that your expectation level is appropriate and that you have clearly demonstrated that you will return after your period of stay in Australia.

Hi, I have a question,

I got refused on my 408 visa as I haven’t uploaded my police check. (I am 100% sure I did but I can’t find the document in the application) i am not sure if I could win the aat. I was on bridging visa a and now I have 35 days to leave the country, or to get another visa. Will it be possible to apply for a onshore visitor/tourist visa?

I’ll prefer to be able to apply for the covid visa again but I’m not sure if that willl be possible?

Hi we have applied for a visitor visa 600 for my son’s Filipino girlfriend. We did apply while we were on holiday in the Philippines and we also git the Biometric scan done in Manila. I’ve also attached a letter stating that my son’s girlfriend will be staying with us and she will also have travel insurance. I am just wondering about the wait time? Is it because she is from the Philippines that the application takes much longer??? Also when the visa is approved and maybe only 3 month’s at a time? Would she need to leave the country and come back to get another 3 month’s? Or can we apply for extension?

Hi, I have applied for my mother’s tourist visa – 600 from Fiji. Last updated on 08/07. All the documents uploaded, biometrics & medical completed as well in May/July. Immi account is still showing further assessment. How long does it take usually? Or is there anything I can do about it?

She has been to Australia few times in the past. However, during her last stay, she over stayed 1 day as I completely forgot to reapply. We hired the migration lawyer who applied for the visa (on-shore) and got approved for 3 months. She went back to Fiji and reapplied in June’22 and since then no update.

Please assist. I really appreciate your help.

Hi Nilesh I submitted a visitor visa for my mum to visit. I put in the application on the 27th of June, had the biometrics and health checks done in her home country and I acknowledged that we had provided all the information sought after she went for both the biometrics and health checks. But all it says on the the application home page is further assessment and it still displays the “arrange biometrics collection”. It approaching the maximum processing time frame of 37 days and we not heard anything back from them. Is this normal, for them to take such a long time to process visitor visas. She was granted one pre covid once we submitted all the requested documents. I am not sure what we can do at this stage. She can’t travel alone and we had hoped that she will get the visa in time to travel with my sister who has gotten her visa and will be travelling down on the 26th. Any advise is appreciated.

August 7, 2022 at 8:19 pm

Please contact me if you are still waiting for a response after a few days of having provided the additional material. Unfortunately it can be that your case has been handed to another person or added to another persons work queue And delays of several months are not uncommon.

I know this must be frustrating for you. Once you get it is not uncommon.

Hi, thanks for the informative website. My husband has applied for a tourist visa on 9th April and its well over 37 days at this point. Hi, I have a small concern. I applied for a tourist visa as a friend back in March 2022 from UAE. However, I had done biometrics and health examinations. The health examinations have been cleared, but there is still a flag indicating “arrange biometrics collection”, with the overall status as “Further assessment” When we contacted the Department of Home Affairs, they informed us that there has been a technical issue. But this issue has been going on for a few months. We are in two minds if we should reapply the application again. Is there something we can do re-submit the biometrics? They have now increased the global processing time for 90% of the applications to 20 months.

HI Nilesh Nandan,

You are doing a great job.

Can I ask one question? Can we apply for a Partner visa while the partner is in Australia on a Visit visa SC 600?

Does she get a bridging visa?

May 9, 2022 at 12:08 pm

1. yes. 2. yes.

I’m assuming that there is no condition on the Visa which suggests “No further stay”. If such a condition does attach to the Visitor Visa held in an application will need to be made for a waiver of that prohibition.

I can help with making submissions in respect of the waiver in certain circumstances.

Hope this helps. Please help me answer more questions like these by leaving an honest review here: https://g.page/r/CfBw8UcKreaaEAg/review

I would like to know, Does DUI conviction (First Offence , NZD $800 fine only in New Zealand) prevent to obtain Visitor visa to Australia? with Nepalese Passport? & as I am Nepalese passport holder, am I eligible to apply (Fast-Track processing)? I opt your team to apply my visa Asap.

May 5, 2022 at 10:22 am

Certainly would be easier if you did not have any drink driving charge at all. I do not believe the charge is photo of particularly in circumstances where it was only a fine. I am more concerned about the fact that you are the holder of a Nepali passport and whether or not you will meet the requirements to be a genuine temporary entrant. This involves looking at the factors pulling you back to Nepal after your temporary stay on the one hand and potential motivation for you to stay in Australia and overstay your Visa on the other hand. Your employment and social ties could particularly impact this as well your immigration history not just with Australia but with other countries.

August 29, 2021 at 2:10 pm

If you’re asking whether or not immigration has ceased processing applications for visitor visas to enter Australia, I’m not aware of any cessation in processing.

The difficulty of course is in obtaining a travel exemption in respect of crossing Australian borders even if a visitor visa is held.

Informative article so I thought I would share my experience with subclass 600 visa. I am a NZer who was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment in 2005. My application for a visitor visa has been sitting under further assessment for the past 3 months they have not asked for any further information nor have they notified if it has been sent to the character assessment (VACCU). I have had two previous such visas granted; the first one took 9 months for a decision to be made and was granted for 1 years. The 2nd was a 2year visa that took just 2 weeks to process after application. I am at a loss at the current delay as my circumstances are unchained e.g. no further convictions, same employer/residence for past 10 years

May 29, 2021 at 6:11 am

I don’t know why the delay this time.

The discretion applied by a decision maker is unique to that decision maker.

Reasonable minds may differ on each exercise of the discretion.

Additionally, guidelines and policies may change from time to time. This may require a different consideration or a different weighting to be given to the the nature and seriousness of the particular offending or the present likelihood of re-offending.

In short, unfortunately, just because you were granted previously, it does not necessarily follow that you’ll be granted again.

Does that help?

Thanks for the insights.I also have a query, I applied for a Visitor visa (family visit) 600 ( paid AUD 145)a month back on 26th April 2022. Since, my brother is on a PR, I thought this would be the fastest visa to get. However, till date status on immi showing only application received. What could be the reasons, was it better to apply for Tourist visa instead & can I do anything further to expedite the visa processing. I was planning to travel in June 1st week. I am seriously not sure what went wrong.

Visitor visa subclass 600 processing time.

Each of the six streams has specific 600 visa processing times. Let us discuss tourist visa 600 processing times for the six streams individually.

Tourist Stream – in Australia

We assist you in preparing the documents accurately. It will help you reduce errors whereby the department ensures quick processing of your application. The general Visa Subclass 600 processing time for this visa is 19 days for 75% of the applications whereas the department deals with 90% of the applications within 27 days.

Tourist Stream – Outside Australia

Ensure to submit proper documents so that you do not have to experience frustrating delays in subclass 600 visa processing times. Immigration agencies can assist applicants with collecting and submission of documents. As far as 600 Visa processing times are concerned, this stream is similar to the tourist stream visa discussed above.

Sponsored Family Stream

The sponsored family stream visitor visa 600 can take a longer time for processing as compared to the regular tourist visa 600 because it requires the sponsor from Australia to submit his/her financial documents. The department needs time to approve of the sponsor. As a standard rule, the department disposes 75% of the applications within 56 days whereas it can take a maximum of 71 days for dealing with 90% of the applications.

Business Visitor Stream

Businesspersons require quick visas as they need to make business trips at short notice. You can get business visas as quickly as within seven days of applying for the same. The department assesses about 75% of the visas within seven days and 90% of the applications within 15 days.

Approved Destination Status Stream

The Approved Destination Status Stream is a specialized visa available for specific Chinese citizens. The eligibility conditions are such that it does not require much processing for this visa. The tour organizer takes care of all the formalities. Hence, documentation is not a problem. It does not take more than a day or two to grant this visa. About three-fourths of applicants receive their visa within one day whereas it takes about two days for the department to process 90% of the applications.

Frequent Traveller Stream

This visa 600 is also for Chinese residents who frequently travel to Australia on business and personal tours. This visa is also a specialized visa because of its specific terms. The visa 600 processing time for this visa is seven days for 75% of applicants whereas 90% of applicants receive this visa in 14 days.

Usually, there are no delays in visa processing when the documents are in order. We assist you with accurate submission where you can expect your visa 600 in the minimum processing time.

COVID-19 update for Immigration »

Australian Borders Opening

Australia will open its international borders in November 2021, The Federal Government will announce the ban on international travel lifted next month which will allow fully vaccinated Australian citizens to return home. Fully vaccinated Australian citizens and permanent residents will be quarantined at home for 7 days, while unvaccinated Australians will still be required to be quarantined at hotels or dedicated facilities for 14 days. The states will gradually open their doors but New South Wales is expected to be the first to welcome international travellers.

The main reason for this plan is to bring back international students who are stranded overseas. If the Australian government is opening the borders in 2021, it will also resume the overseas permanent resident applications processing.

Visa2Immigration experts can help you quicken the process by reviewing your application and checking it for completeness, errors, and documentation. Hey Mate. I just applied on 30th Oct 2021 and exemption the same day. Just been now 5 days back. Medicals were done yesterday and now just waiting. Exciting time ahead, lets see how long it takes. I doubt too, I reckon it should be issued within 2 weeks at least.

Do you need to upload the Travel exemption to the immi portal against the visa application? I don't see any specific document type for the same. Thanks.

Without the exemption letter, the chances of grant are extremely low You can upload it under others Just make sure that you name the file properly Cheers

Hello all, I am planning to apply for tourist visa 600 for my mother, which one is the best option to apply in the current situation- Sponsored Family stream (requires Sponsorship form 1149) OR Tourist stream (tourism/visit family or friends). Thanks in Advance.

Tourist stream is generally preferred for the reason that it comes with lesser conditions (without 8531 generally) and includes less documentation.

Hi Friends, The invitation letter that we need to visitor 600 visa, whom do we need to address it to ? Is the intended traveler ? Also if anyone can share the format, it will be great help.

You can address it to DHA There is no format as such Just write that you will bear all their lodging boarding and travelling expenses as long as they are in Australia Cheers

Hi Friends, I am thinking about applying 600 class visitor visa for my parents. They have their both Covid vaccines already. My father is around 66 yrs and my mother is around 61 yrs old, They visited us in 2018 and stayed for 5 months, that visa has expired already. 1) What are the documents we need to produce during this covid time? 2) Do I need the exemption letter for submitting the application? Thanks

Application process is the same as before and yes, you need to apply for an exemption. See this page (assuming you are a PR / Citizen) --> Immediate family of Australian citizens or permanent residents or New Zealand citizens usually resident in Australia | COVID-19 and the border

Hi All, happy to share that , we got visitor visa for my partner on 30th Dec 2021 Below are the details: Application Lodged: 10th Dec Medicals: 16th Dec Grant: 30th Dec ( Got exemption too on same day) Wish you all a happy and prosperous new year🙂

Congrats buddy! For the travel exemption, what proofs did you submit?

I am in the process to apply for visitor visa, my dad's passport is in-progress. Can i start this exemption and visa process before that as i await for passport arrival.

Passport Number will be the key reference which you will qoute in all the applications. Not sure if you can file for visa or exemption without it

Congratulations @rvarmae ! Did you apply for sponsored stream or the normal one (within 600)? I want to bring my parents-in-law from India but unfortunately I can't sponsor in-laws. I was just wondering whether they would consider the application if it is without the sponsorship. I could still apply for travel exemption as they would consider parent-in-laws as parents. Any help is much appreciated. Tagging @NB ; your posts were helpful elsewhere. Any insights on this one?

I applied for a SC600 Visitor visa.

Hi everyone, For those who had their friends/relatives/loved ones visitor visas granted, how long did it take? Was it two weeks? Really keen on seeing my partner again after 2 years. He applied last week.

Hi, I am about to finalise the visitor visa application for my parents. I have recently moved to a new property. In my payslip, it is still reflecting the old address because I forgot to update that. I will attach the first page of the signed contract for the new property as address proof. In my bank statement and nbn invoice, I have the latest address. is it sufficient for address proof? Do I also need to provide form 956A for both my parents as I will be submitting the application on their behalf? Do we need passport size photos as well for them? Thanks

How Long Is the Processing Time of an Australian Tourist Visa in the Philippines?

For Visitor visa (Subclass 600) Tourist Stream, the official processing time is around 17 to 28 days . The period depends upon the completeness of your document. It will be longer if you need to undergo a health examination.

However, and based on personal experience, you can receive your visa in less than 17 days . Some even reported to have received it within a week.

Given the above, you should allow sufficient time and enough gap from your visa application to your actual date of departure.

Thank you! Guess I will miss my niece's engagement sigh

Have you stated the date of that event in your application?

Yes, I have attached the engagement invite to the application. Infact, I had an approved tourist visa before the pandemic but could not visit Australia so had to reapply again. I thought this would make approvals faster but it hasn't

Immigration are saying "Due to increased demand everyone is strongly encouraged to lodge their applications well in advance." There appears to have been a massive increase in all visa applications, coupled with the backlog of previous applications. This will create delays for the available staff. An example for the visitor visa subclass 651. In early January 2022, a spokesman for the Australian Immigration Service said that they had processed more than 100,000 eVisitor visa applications since 1 November. In the same period in 2020, there were less than 5,000 applications. No doubt there will be a substantial increase in subclasses 600 also. With many people now able and wanting to visit.

Hi I also applied on same time for my mother, did you receive your visa?

No, I have not yet received it. It has been exactly 2 months since I filed for her. How about you ? Do you see any other status on your application other than "Received" ?

600 Sponsored family Date Applied: 28 Feb 2022 Date Medical check completed: 22 Mar 2022 Status : Received It's been 72 days from date applied and no information despite published processing times of 50 days for 90% of applications. I must be an outlier !

You are not an outlier since I am in the same boat. Applied on 4th March but nothing received it

Yes same here waiting for visa

tourist visa 600 processing time

Applied for 600 (sponsored family) for my parents Date Applied: 9th March 2022 Medical Cleared: 14th March 2022 Status: Recieved Called 131881 4 to 5 times, yet no help. same answer every time. "We cannot advise. You just have to wait"

  • 25% took under 28 days
  • 10% took over 50 days
  • 25% took under 37 days
  • 10% took over 10 months.

Can some one help me with the below questions reg. sponsored visitor visa. Thanks in advance. 1. Does the applicant know the dates of entry for each occasion after first entry to Australia? Give reason - what can the reason for this ? 2. I selected length of stay in Australia as 12 months. In that case, is it ok to have the planned arrival and departure dates with a 6 month duration ? 3. Do we need to use "Appointment or withdrawal of an authorised recipient Form 956A" if we are filling the application for parents and can we use our e-mail ID for communication (even if we didnt submit form 956A) ?

I have the same situation. I applied for my grandmother's visa 73 days ago. I am sponsoring her trip to Australia. Application Date submitted: 9th March 2022 Health clearance provided: 4th April 2022 Application Status: RECEIVED Has anyone who posted here received a reposnse for their Family Sponsored Visas?

Still waiting for it. Also looks like the processing time has reduced so hoping for the best

In the exact same boat. Applied - Mar 12,2022; Status: Received. My 50 days are up, so definitely in the 10% category now. Uploaded my vaccine certs today, hoping that helps spur the process further.

The March figures appear to be unusual. At 50 days you are now not even at the average time. The median average processing time for Subclass 600 Sponsored Family visas, that were finalised in April 2022, was 70 Days. The slowest 10% is now back up to 5 months.
