• Description

Let´s go to explore the close city from Punta Cana (Higüey city) with our expert tour guides will take you through the historic part of the it to learn a little bit of its culture and development. Once there, you will also visit the colonial-style San Dionisio church, dating back more than 500 years. Then, The Basilica of La Altagracia church, only inaugurated in 1971 but featuring an altar painting of the Virgin Mary dating from the 16th century. Following our visit, we will then head to the countryside, where we will be invited to a traditional local countryside home, where you will see coffee and cocoa plantations, as well as the process of making them. Taste some exotic fruits, coffee and chocolate prepared right there. You can also buy organic cocoa, coffee, and local souvenirs right there. What to bring: cash money for shopping, sun lotion.

Best way to do this tour. cheap price, but good service. Loved the countryside better than the city itself. Bring your family and show them really coffee and cocoa plantations. you can walk inside the coffee plantation. you feel real countryside pure air.

Conoced la arquitectura y costumbres de Higüey con esta excursión desde Punta Cana . ¡Descubriréis además cómo se cultiva el tabaco visitando una plantación agrícola!

A la hora que escojáis, os recogeremos en vuestro hotel de Punta Cana. Apenas una hora después llegaremos a Higüey : la capital de la provincia dominicana de La Altagracia.

Visitaremos en primer lugar un rancho, donde realizaremos un paseo a caballo. ¡La mejor forma de comenzar el día! Tras contemplar los paisajes naturales de Higüe a lomos de un caballo, nos acercaremos a la Basílica-Catedral de Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia . Veremos los exteriores de este moderno santuario, ubicado en pleno centro de Higüey, está consagrado a una de las vírgenes más veneradas por los dominicanos. Durante la visita por el templo apreciaremos su singular arquitectura. 

Continuaremos la excursión en el Mercado de Higüey , donde veremos la gran variedad de frutas exóticas de sus puestos. ¿No os parece el mejor lugar para cargar pilas? Disfrutaremos de un completo almuerzo tradicional dominicano en el mercado. Con este buen sabor de boca, seguiremos el tour aprendiendo sobre las importantes industrias de café, cacao y tabaco. 

Para ello, nos adentraremos en una  fábrica de tabaco . ¿Sabéis cómo se hace este producto tan típico? Conoceremos las principales técnicas en esta casa artesanal que lleva elaborando puros a mano desde hace generaciones. ¡Os sorprenderá!

Por último, nos desplazaremos hasta la paradisíaca playa Macao , en la que realizaremos una breve parada fotográfica. Finalmente, os llevaremos hasta vuestro hotel y daremos por terminado el recorrido cuatro horas más tarde.  

Esta excursión incluye la recogida y traslado de regreso a los hoteles de las siguientes zonas turísticas:  Punta Cana, Cap Cana, Uvero Alto, Bávaro y Los Corales .

Melony is a real people person willing to help in every way even helping to get one to a taxi carrying shopping bags etc. The companies mechanic Kay is also a lovely lady willing to help. I dont know the names of the other staff but they are are also very helpful. They not only hire out scooters but have clothing, books and brick a brack for sale at unbelievable prices. We were picked up at our resort at 6:30 and what was supposed to be 1.5 hour drive turned into a 3 hour drive that was overcrowded. He not only did a great price, half of the TUI price, but also arranged a private mini bus for us so we did not have to spend up to another hour and a half each way for pickups and drop offs. $200Us. The first scooter was too big that it wouldn't fit in the elevator to our room. so the next day, they brought a smaller one, like we have at home. It would stay charged for less than 30 minutes, not even long enough to go around the resort. so the third day, they brought us one that was well worn but worked. My family of 4 and I arrived in Santo Domingo for a 2 + week DR adventure. Caribe was our transportation and excursion company for the entire trip. They were on time every time and always had a smile on their faces. My wife and I have been coming down to the DR for the past 10 years and the last several years 2-3 times a year. We have used Caribe for all but one of our trips. This trip we really put them to the test. Reason being is at the hight of this trip it was 6 adults and 6 children. Caribe didn't disappoint. My family and I stayed in Boca Chica for the first 5 days before heading to Punta Cana. During the Boca leg we decided to head to see old Santo Domingo. This was absolutely beautiful. This is the oldest part of the capital and is full of shopping and some of the most amazing architecture. It's full of great local flavor, food, and some authentic DR life. After our stay in Boca Chica, (which I also recommend checking out) Caribe was our transportation to Punta Cana. Before the ride I asked if it would be possible to meet a friend for lunch in La Romana. This was not an issue with them and they accommodated us perfectly. I was also happy to see that this was the same driver that picked us up from the airport. Nice vehicle and safely got use to and from every time. The driver was very professional, nice and even joined us for lunch. The drive to Punta Cana was really nice and even informative. Punta Cana- After getting dropped of at our location they picked up 2 other groups of 4 on different occasions over the next few days. Again, both of them where on time and they even text me when they got close so we could meet to greet them. Buggies- We have done the buggies and used Caribe for this several times. With that being said. This was over the top fun. They set us up with 3, 4 person buggies. The buggies where super nice and newer than past visits. Not to mention it had rained and it was super muddy and this made it so much fun. The buggies are really cool. They do a great a job of showing you the country as well as taking you to Macao beach, shopping and to swim in a fresh water cave. Very nice after getting dirty. Again, transportation to and from was literally a breeze...... Thanksgiving transportation- I went back and forth on renting a car for this and after talking to Milagros (She is absolutely amazing) she had mentioned that they could arrange transfer for basically the same cost. This trip was back to Macao beach for family photos. Again, they where on time and had a smile. This was in a van because it was 8 of us and was perfect. Short but easy trip. Saona Isalnd All the years of coming down to the DR we have never done this. Let me just start by saying, this was a mistake. We should have NEVER waited to go check this out. I reached out prior to booking this. We were wanting a private catamaran for the 12 of us. Boy did they hook that up! The transportation was waiting for use when we showed up 15 min before our pick up time. The driver was nice and the guide (Nelson) was on point. Nelson made this trip an absolute blast. The entire drive down he was super informative about where we where and talked about the culture throughout the drive. He even made a few phone calls and got he sun to come out!! Thanks again Nelson and sorry about your shoes. When we got to the catamaran it was absolutely beautiful. We noticed that we needed a few more supplies for trip (alcohol) and Nelson made some phone calls and it ended up showing up while we where on our way. Talk about service. Stopping to snorkel, swim, and play with star fish was an absolute joy. This water is crystal clear blue and sooo beautiful. We showed up to Saona to a private table set for lunch with delicious local food as well as some goodies for the kiddos. The service throughout the entire trip was so exceptional. Nelson, as well as all the deck hands bent over backwards to make sure we where happy and had everything we needed. Taking photos and making sure we were having a good time. They continued to refill all of the yummy snacks they had set out for us. On the boat ride back, they stopped yet again for the best snorkeling on the trip; stingrays, coral, and countless tropical fish. This was defiantly the highlight of all of the excursions I have done in the DR. I think this goes for our entire group. The ride back was fun. We went though a town called Higuey. This city is the DR and life as they know it, but also so awesome. Four of the people in our group have been in past (with Caribe) and recommend checking it out. Going through here on the way back was a great way for all of our kids too see the real Dominican. Needless to say, we had a great trip to Saona island. Thank you again Nelson you are great man and definitely someone I would love to sit back and drink a beer with. Leaving :( On time and and with a smile. We even had the same driver that took us to the catamaran. To close, at some point my wife and would like to live down here 4-5 months out of the year. The unfortunate part about that is we won't be able to depend on Caribe the way we have over the years. They are literally a text away with any need you might have. I can not say enough about what they all have meant to us and our friends. After waiting on several other people and a long drive, we arrived at the first excursion location at 9:40am. Catalina is gorgeous, almost worth the trouble but would've liked more time. Music on the boat wwwaaaaayyyy too loud. Once we got to the island, the views were fantastic and snorkeling was awesome. Lunch on the beach was very good, flavorful. Plenty of time to swim to look for shells and snorkel again. Boat ride back was fun (but music still too loud). Crew engaged passengers in dancing on the boat. Stop at Altos de Chavon was very short, needed more time there. Bus ride back was quiet. An extra stop at a souvenir/convenience store was added at the end, but crew was good to get us a shuttle back to the hotel. All in all, a fun day if you don’t mind a really really long bus trip. Firstly we set off for higuey and the van taking us had great air conditioning but as we pulled up to a run down littered street that had no trace of cash flows we got dragged into a little shop without even being asked if we wanted to enter. There are no markets or decent shops instead there are a couple down one street all selling the same items.
