Craft Room Organization Tour Video

For the last 5 years or so I have been using what would be the formal dining room in my home as a craft room. It’s open to my front foyer as well as my kitchen so everyone who walks through my home sees it. I wanted {needed} to create a space that was functional as a craft room but also kept supplies neat and organized.

A few months ago I started fresh. I emptied the entire room deep cleaned everything and painted the walls a light blue – Winterscape from Behr.

Then I headed to Ikea to purchase functional furniture to get started.

Ikea Craft Room Furniture

I wanted lots of table top space to work on projects as well as drawers and cabinets to keep some things hidden. Here is what I chose to line the back wall of my craft room.

Ikea craft room desk

3 LINNEMON table tops, 2 ALEX drawers, table legs for the ends. This creates a long desk that I have divided into work areas. the far right for my office, the middle for my Cricut and the left for paper and vinyl storage.

Ikea bench with Eket in a craft room

Behind the computer desk I have EKET cabinets with doors. 2 are stacked on top of one another with legs on the bottom. 1 is sitting on the other side of the craft room, out of view, also with legs underneath.

The bench is 3 EKET cubes snapped together with the accompanying hardware and legs on the bottom. This offers storage as well as extra seating. A cushion is in the works for this bench.

Ikea offers minimal white furniture that holds up well and comes with lots of storage. The white goes with everything and I was able to add color to the room through paint and art.

Craft Room Pegboard Organization

The wall above the Ikea desk is lines with colorful pegboard and a long white shelf. I painted the pegboard in pink white and yellow and use my craft supplies to add more color and interest to the wall. I use these accessories to organize the pegboard.

craft room organization wide shot

I am a visual person and I’m inspired when I can see art and supplies. Seeing all my paint lined up in rainbow order keeps it on my mind and inspires me to create. It’s also prevents me from buying duplicates because I don’t know what I have tucked away in a drawer somewhere.

The Ikea bag holder, the VARIERA, is my favorite way to store or vinyl. I keep scraps in the ALEX drawers but open rolls are stored on the pegboard.

Watch this video to see how I organized my pegboard.

Craft Room Workspace

Having a large table in the middle of the room is ideal for working on projects. It also offers more storage underneath. I added a curtain to the front to conceal what’s underneath. I store my sewing machine and other large bulky items behind the curtain.

craft room table with curtain and storage

The curtain area beneath the Ikea desk hides my printer and some other bulky items.

Keeping a clean table is not an easy feat. In order to keep it clean, everything needs a place to go including current projects. When I am working on a project that will take more than a day I grab a bin (any small-ish bin) and corral all the pieces of the project into it. I keep this bin under my table until the next day. This way my project is still at my fingertips but it’s not spread all over the table.

Craft Room Organization Tips

Be sure to watch the full video tour to see these tips in action.

  • Group like items together. Baskets, drawers, bins and jars are great methods for organizing supplies. Keeping like items together helps you find them when you need them. Keep all adhesives together, all cutting tools in one place etc.
  • Keep your most used and most loved tools out in the open . Hang them on a pegboard or set them on a shelf so they are at your finger tips when you need them.
  • Corral projects into a bin each night to clear your work space. Your project supplies and materials stay together, but you avoid a cluttered desk won’t have 5 projects spread out all at once.

This craft room is everything I needed in a work space. Its bright and colorful, as well as functional. I am able to spread out and work when I need to. I’m also able to put everything away at the end of the day and keep this room neat. When everything has a place to go, it’s much easier to keep it organized.

My favorite from this video is the vinyl holder! There is an Ikea here in Phoenix and I'll have to get there one day. Today I am going on a hunt for one more item for our entryway and shelves to store my multiple machines on. I have purchased most of the stuff online but need to do something outside. :)

Because I am so blessed to have the Scrapbox storage most things are well contained. The room I am using here is labeled the Study in the plans and I am fortunate that it has doors! I still need places tho for my 31 containers and other storage items that are currently hanging out on the floor. Waiting for the plantation shutters to be installed on the windows so I see how much wall space I have left.

Thanks Sarah!

Sounds like a such a lovely home! That scrapbox is amazing, the perfect way to contain a craft room.

VIDEO: Craft Room Tour: Making The Most Of A Small Space

Welcome everyone! Well, it’s finally ready! I’ve been promising a tour of my craft space for a quite a while. Today, I’m walking you through every nook and cranny in my little craft corner that I have set up in my kitchen. It’s all put in a video for you so I won’t go through too much here on my blog so please be sure to check it out.

At the end of this post, I have GIVEAWAYS and DISCOUNT CODES from some of the amazing companies out there! They are truly wonderful people that I have blessed to work with and get to know.

In the video, I will also give you a little history about myself and family. I will include Time Stamps so you can skip around to the parts of the video that interest you the most.

You can catch the full video tour down below or HERE on my Youtube channel.

The biggest tip I can give you when working with a small space is BE ORGANIZED. It helps so much! When everything has a specific home, it makes it a lot easier to find things and make room to work.

Please note: my lighting is not the greatest and I was doing this filming all on my own. I tried to lighten up the video as much as I could so you could see everything. Also, I do not get in front of the camera very often. I’m more comfortable showing my hands lol. It was highly nerve-wracking to put my face out there. And last but not least, I apologize for the hum of my refrigerator (I work in a kitchen) and hopefully you don’t get seasick from the camera being wobbly at times.

Let’s get started!

This is a main picture of my craft space. I have the back wall lined with ink pad organizers from Organize More (discount code!)

craft room tour youtube

Inks that I have in my organizer are from Hero Arts , Taylored Expressions , Lawn Fawn , Pink Fresh Studio and Concord & 9th . (shopping discounts below!)

craft room tour youtube

I state in my video I’m an impulse buyer and very impatient. When I want to change up my craft room, I want to do it instantly. With that said, I ran to Michaels and picked up Modular Mobile Chest by Simply Tidy, Modular Half Cube by Simply Tidy, & Modular Table Top by Simply Tidy.

This pegboard and shelves comes from Ikea. (pictured below)

I have it filled with my Ranger Distress Oxide Sprays, Taylored Expressions watercolors/reinkers, Hero Arts Liquid Watercolors and a few other misc items.

craft room tour youtube

On my desk, (pictured below), I have another ink pad organizer from Organize More (discount code!). This one is filled with all of my Distress Oxide inks and a few other ink pads I reach for frequently. On top of the organizer, I have my blending brushes from Gina K Designs, Taylored Expressions and Honey Bee Stamps which are all held in stands from Make It By Marko.

Make It by Marko has great organizers for crafters including different holders for brushes, Tidy Towel/Stamp Shammy cases and phone clips (we love the phone clips)!

craft room tour youtube

This is quick look at how I hold my copic markers. I have each color group in its own cup. Sorry, no clue where I got the cups from but they are just a cheap, white plastic cup. I keep these on the second shelf of my Hudson Rolling Cart by Simply Tidy. I love this cart!

craft room tour youtube

I keep new releases or products I want to work with next on the top shelf, copic markers on the second shelf and cleaning supplies on the third shelf.

craft room tour youtube

Under my desk, I have two Alex drawer units. The first drawer is a bit of mess but has some of my most reached for items.

craft room tour youtube

The second drawer holds my full size Distress Ink pads that I have in Clear Plastic Drawer Organizers from Amazon. I also have my Lawn Fawn Trimmings tucked in at the ends.

craft room tour youtube

The third drawer is filled with adhesive including foam squares, Easy See tape, tape runners and liquid glue.

craft room tour youtube

Fourth drawer down is my embossing draw. Some embossing powders I keep in tupperware containers and some I have in the small plastic cases that I picked up in the school section. Most of these baskets/cases I picked up at Walmart but you could find them anywhere.

I have powders from Hero Arts, Gina K Designs, Lawn Fawn, & Taylored Expressions.

craft room tour youtube

The last drawer holds my mini ink cubes. I found these beading cases in the craft section of my local shopping store and they fit the mini ink cubes perfectly.

craft room tour youtube

On the left hand side of me in another Alex drawer unit, I have some blending tools and scissors.

craft room tour youtube

In another drawer, I hold my Distress Spray Stains, Embossing Glaze, Pixie Spray, blocks, and other misc bottles sprays that didn’t fit in the drawers or the pegboard.

craft room tour youtube

Next drawer is my Gina K Designs inks pads. I used to have these in the ink pad holder on my desk and just recently switched them out. I like to just switch things up a little bit. I don’t have a lot of MFT inks yet so what I do have fits nicely in this drawer. I also have these inks in the Clear Plastic Drawer Organizers that I got from Amazon.

craft room tour youtube

Behind my desk, I have a few of the Modular Drawers by Simply Tidy. This drawer holds my zipper pouches from Pear Blossom Press in which I have my zig markers in. I also have some embellishments from Pink Fresh Studio.

craft room tour youtube

(pictured below) This drawer holds some watercolors and paint palettes.

craft room tour youtube

Some more blending tools are shown below. These are from Picket Fence Studios, Honey Bee Stamps and Altenew. I like that Altenew’s brushes come in a case so it won’t get ink all over my drawer.

craft room tour youtube

We are now hitting a misc drawer lol . This one (pictured below) holds latex gloves for when working with alcohol inks, a brayer, and watercolor brush pens from Altenew.

craft room tour youtube

The last drawer in this unit holds my Alcohol inks that I keep in a tin.

craft room tour youtube

In the next set of drawers starting at the top holds my ATG tape, refills for my label maker and a supplies case from Taylored Expressions.

The colorful tool pictured on the top of this is a Stampin Bug which is similar to the “chuckie tool” if you watch Gina K Designs. This just helps me when stamping with my Misti. You can check out the variety over in their Etsy shop.

craft room tour youtube

We have a drawer that holds my Simple Strips from Taylored Expressions, Distress Paints and rubber brayers.

craft room tour youtube

(pictured below) Still a work in progress. I got these inserts (Essential Oil Wooden Grid Organizers) from Amazon with the hopes of fitting ink blending tools but they are just a tad too small. So instead, I used them for my reinkers.

craft room tour youtube

Lots of Thermoweb and Gina K Designs Glitz Glitter Gels, Flock and Enamel sheets.

craft room tour youtube

Bottom drawer holds my pastes, powders and gels.

craft room tour youtube

Top drawer of another Modular unit holds some of my work surfaces including the Ranger Silicone mat and Waffle Flower Mixed Media Mat.

craft room tour youtube

Foam tape and double sided adhesive.

craft room tour youtube

I have a drawer for my Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foiling System.

craft room tour youtube

Bottom drawer contains lots of Glimmer Hot Foils and the tubes of Deco Foil.

craft room tour youtube

I love your videos and cards! Your craftroom is perfect for your family. It wouldsure force me to clean up my space better! I like crafting in the living room with my hubby. Thanks for sharing your space.

Love how you have organized your space, Mindy. I will be utilizing some of your ideas in my craft space. Thanks for sharing!!!

To see how you have been able to find a spot to use and be productive without a huge fancy room is inspiring! Kudos!! I think you’ve e done a fantastic job with your space! Thank you for sharing this! I did get several ideas from you! Yay!!!

Enjoyed the video – am always looking for organization tips. Thanks!

This is fantastic!! I love how everything is so organized! You gave me some ideas for my stamp room-I’m always changing things around and trying to find what works best for me! Thanks for sharing.❤️

Thanks for the organizing ideas, always looking for ways to keep things accessible but organized. Any tips on organizing stamps, dies and the like?

Love your craft space. I have been trying to organize and gained a lot of ideas from watching this. Thanks so much for sharing

Hi Mindy! It’s Kim of Kim’s Handcrafted Cards, so glad to find your blog! I love your videos and it was so cool to see you on your Craftroom tour! I definitely love organizing as I work in a small space so I have to constantly look at what I have to purge and be deliberate about what I buy! 🙂

Fantastic video. Love your craft/ kitchen. Thank you . You are very organized.

Thanks for sharing your craft space! I have watched, paused, rewound , and watched more! I am planning to buy and use several of your ideas. Just ordered 2 ink stands! (Thanks for discount!) Curious as to the size of space from your desk to table behind you? (My shed is 10×12) I’m wondering if I can set mine up that way! Again, thank you!

I really enjoyed seeing your craft space. I am trying to organize all of my craft stuff. I have a craft room but it is stack with everything. I am fromSW Louisiana and we got a direct hit with 2 hurricanes so while I consider myself fortunate my house is livable and I can hold off on repairs, our lives are upside down here. Micheals is the only craft store left standing here now and they pretty much are concentrating on cricut (?). So I am taking time to organize my stamps and dies. The living room has become my crafting area. I like to scrapbook and I do a few cards but I love to learn techniques to apply to scrapbooking. I love the storage for your ink pads. I had never heard of Organize More or Make it by Marko. I use Velcro dots to attach my foam blender on each of my distress oxide pads (in the base). Thank you for your videos I very much enjoy them.

I really enjoyed watching your video, picking up tips of what you like and don’t like, and how you organized everything. I learned so much…

Thanks for showing your crafting space and how you organize everything!

You’ve made great use of your space, Mindy. I’m impressed by you as a designer but more impressed that you have stayed home with your son so his care was a priority, and I’ll make a concerted effort to purchase from your affiliate links. I wanted to tell you that you should check out the Cube Bookcases from Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart. I have three 8 cubed bookcases on one wall of my craft room lined up next to one another. On another wall I have two on the ground and one laying on top of those (secured). 24 12.5×12.5 cubes per wall. Incredibly sturdy and no bending. I can’t recommend them enough. Love them in white.

HI Mindy, you did a great job in your craft room tour. Very well organized and workable in the space you have. I enjoyed crafting in my dining area, too. I’ve moved to a room now, but I kind of miss the dining area! You are a gem and I enjoyed your video … and I always enjoy your cards. My best to you and your family.

I have been looking for a video like this for setting up small space crafting areas. You shared so many helpful ideas. You use many of the brands I use, which helps me aware of what will work space wise. Thank you for your time videoing to help others!! I’m working now, but cheers to stay-at-home moms! Did that for 20 years myself!!

I got a lot of great ideas while watching your video. I’ll be putting them to good use. Thanks for sharing the codes!

Really enjoyed meeting you and visiting your craft area. They say the kitchen is the heart of the home and isn’t it nice to be able to spend time with those you love doing what you love in that room! I have purchased some items from the Etsy store MAKE IT BY MARKO thanks to this video/blog. I love your space and I thank you for sharing it with us. I’ve come away with some great ideas for my craft area.

Planning the Ultimate Craft Room

See this craft blogger's plans for the ultimate (yet inexpensive) craft room renovation with a vintage industrial feel!

Share the love!

Thinking of creating or upgrading a craft room? Watch my progress and see my ultimate craft room plans for inspiration!

It’s no secret I love to craft. A few years ago I updated my basement and turned it into a sewing studio, complete with huge tables for pattern cutting, a custom-designed fabric storage system, and filing drawers for patterns. But that space is for sewing. Since I began to refocus on this blog, I’ve been doing all my crafting here in my office. You may have seen photos and videos of it already — every time I do a Facebook Live video, I’m sitting at my desk in my office. Well, I’ve decided it’s high time to turn my office into an ultimate craft room .

Check out the  source list for my craft room plans later in this post!

See this craft blogger's plans for the ultimate (yet inexpensive) craft room renovation with a vintage industrial feel!

I don’t need all this office space I have just to work — all I need for that is my desk (you can find that tutorial here) — and most of it is going to waste. But I could use this space to organize my craft materials , which are growing rapidly, and create more places to do and make things.

It’s going to be a big job. My office still looks like a family room!  Here’s what it looked like right before we moved in (that’s me with Alexa when she wasn’t quite 1-year-old).

Here's the room before I moved in -- decent light, but not great.

But, as they say, the journey of a 1000 steps begins with one . So here I am, announcing my craft room plans to the world. I’m keeping my awesome travel desk and my lightbox — and of course the built-ins all stay — but everything else goes! I think I’m even going to paint! I am SO EXCITED!

Here’s what my office/craft room looks like now , sans all the furniture (and with a whole lot more “craftermath”):

This is my office/craft room with more color

My office/craft room is about 14 feet by 20 feet, so approximately 280 sq. ft . It’s not the biggest space, but certainly not small either. The room has a wall of built-in shelves, a fireplace with mantel, a large sliding glass door that goes out onto my deck, and my closet nook with a built-in bench, desk, and more shelves. It also has lovely wood floors and even some wood crown moulding that we installed after we moved in. There’s a reason why I moved my office here (it used to be in the basement).

Here’s a floor plan of my space. I think there’s plenty of potential here!

Ultimate Craft Room Floorplan

My Craft Room Plans

So, what am I going change?  Oh, where DO I start? Let me go through the list with you.  If you fall in love with some or all of the items you are seeing and want some for yourself, I’ve included affiliate links for your convenience.  Click here to read my full disclosure policy .

Here is my craft room plans mood board :

An aqua, teal, and red mood board

  • The color palette . I’m going for accents of turquoise and red (do you recognize those colors from my blog header?) on main colors of white and aqua. Feminine and powerful, like me. Rawr!
  • The walls. Two walls are goldenrod, another wall is dark red, and another one is white. I like the colors still, but they are much more appropriate for a room you socialize in than for a room you craft in. I need to lighten up this room and open it up. So I’m going to paint the walls a light aqua, like the background of the mood board shown above. I think it will go wonderful with all the white shelving.
  • The crown moulding. It’s a lovely oak, but it’s just not going to go with my aqua and white scheme. So I plan to paint the moulding and the trim around the windows white. You can see how I think that will look in the lower right corner of my mood board.
  • The fireplace. Ugh, I’ve always disliked this ’70s fireplace. Such dark and boring brick. I’m either going to paint it all white and cover parts of it with white wood, like the fireplace shown in my mood board, or I’m going to reface it with tile. If I get stuck, I’ll just paint the whole thing white. We also plan to build waist-high cabinets that extend outward from the built-ins on either side of the fireplace. I want to hide that big brick shelf as much a possible AND use all the possible space.
  • The lighting. The room has only two little track lights (those are the blue lights you see above the fireplace). They are super wimpy and need to go — this room needs more lighting. I’m madly in love with the seafoam teal light shown in the lower left corner of my mood board — they look like glass skirts!
  • The need for a big craft table . So I have in mind an IKEA hack, similar to the one you see on the right side of my mood board, which is by Kari over at ikeahackers.net . It has the right look, but I will probably use storage units rather than cabinets. Mine will definitely be on wheels, unlike hers — I need to be able to move it around easily. I also like the idea of cover it with glass, like she did, to make it easier to clean up messy crafts.
  • The need for more storage . I plan to store paper in some of my shelves, so I will be using perfectly-sized paper holders  inside white  IKEA Kallax storage units . I have an idea for the perfect paper crafting station that wheels around the room — I can’t wait to make it. If I can float it, I may also use some of the Martha Stewart Living Craft Space units — they are SO cute! I really like her  Three Drawer Flat File Cabinet . Or I may just go with the IKEA Alex drawers   to save money. I also want to have at least one pegboard on the wall for tools.
  • The decor . I need a red chair — red is my power color. And I love the big “Inspire” wall art . I want that word big and red somewhere in my craft room. And I’m thinking of putting my giant paper flowers around the room, because they bring me such joy. A pretty valance of giant flowers over the sliding glass door would be very cheerful!

Source List for My Craft Room

  • Paper holders
  • Kallax shelving units
  • “Inpsire” wall art
  • Alex drawers
  • Three Drawer Flat File Cabinet
  • Seafoam Teal Light

These look like great ideas. I have a very small craft corner in my kitchen and I have my Silhouette on top of an IKEA Alex cart with my paper and vinyl stored in those nice wide drawers. It sits against the wall when not in use and the. I roll it perpendicular to my desk when I use it to make an L shaped work area.

Hi Jennifer, I am looking forward to all your challenges. I really have lost my mojo because of my messy craft room. I can’t wait, thank you x

Jennifer just saw your fp / craft room. It is my room exactly but flipped! I think I may copy u!

Oh, awesome! My craft room is coming along really well. All the walls are painted, the fireplace is now covered up with pretty beadboard, all the furniture is in the room, and we’re working on building the island. Blog posts are forthcoming. 🙂

I’m just starting to get ready to organize my new craft room 210 sq. feet at most but seems good to me. I just accepted the 30 day challenge to organize. Organizing is not my best suite but I’m hopeful we are completing the new kitchen that has been interesting, i am tired of cooking on hot plates, crock pots, bar b q’s and eating out. Just a few days to Christmas so there will not be a stove to cook on but we will have lovely time at a restaurant.. My big question for now is what are svg’s they are used for cutting and down loading on machines? I don’t have a blog I new to the cutting machines so the lingo is new to me as well. .Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Hi, Vickilou and welcome! SVGs are files that are used for cutting on cutting machines. You can learn all about them in this video series I made: https://jennifermaker.lpages.co/the-joy-of-svgs-all-access-pass/

Organising my craft room has been a prolonged process as I have remodeled my house. This was also during major upheaval in my life. I see you are talking about paper crafts but I hope that your challenges and tips apply to patchwork and quilting. I have a large bank of custom built drawers and storage spaces for coloured cubes. I do feel overwhelmed every time I look at or think about how to tackle this task!! I have managed to have a semblance of order so I can still see and get my crafting ‘fix’but It would be restful on my mind and eyes if my space truly was organised. I look forward to the journey! Ann

My craft room organization tips apply to many different crafts, as I myself do many different crafts (including sewing). I hope you find it helpful!

Updated Craft Room Tour!

Remember my Craft Room Tour back in April?

Well, I recently rearranged it and I asked if you'd like to see an updated tour. The response was favorable so today, I'm sharing that updated tour!

Updated Craft Room Tour!

My craft room is upstairs in a spare bedroom and it's the best room in the whole house if you ask me 😁

It gets a ton of light and having all my supplies displayed with the fun dĂŠcor in here just makes me smile.

I hope you enjoy this video tour where I show you around the whole space.

The video is where it's at but it's always fun to see some good old fashioned still shots too!

Updated Craft Room Tour!

I added some more shelves to the closet since I have no use for a clothes hanging rod in this room.

14 Craft Room Organization Tips That Will Inspire You

crafts · organization

Updated on February 19, 2024

Craft Room Tour. Learn how I organize all my craft supplies including paper, paint, fabric, ribbon, Cricut supplies, and more.

I don’t know about you, but I love to sneak a peek at other people’s creative spaces. How other people organize and store all of their supplies is so inspiring to me! I get great ideas on how I can be using my supplies more efficiently. And I love to see how other makers can combine function with beauty in their crafting space.

Today, I am sharing how I store and organize fourteen different types of craft supplies – jewelry, craft paint, faux flowers, scrapbooking paper, adhesive and washi tape, Cricut supplies, paper scraps, gift wrap, fabric, scrapbook embellishments, buttons, We R Memory Keepers tools, Project Life, and sewing.

Laura’s Crafty Life Craft Room Tour

I have shared bit and pieces of my craft space  before, but it has changed quite a bit since the last time. We rearranged everything after we finished installing our laminate floors. I share this room with my husband for all of his hobby supplies, too. This room is still a work in progress but most everything has a place to go, which was my biggest challenge for a long time.

When you walk into the room, on the left we have a small computer desk with our PC. I don’t use this computer a lot because I mainly use my laptop, but this is where my kids can play educational games or Minecraft. The desk also houses my HP Envy printer . My husband surprised me with this printer for Christmas and it is amazing!

Jewelry and Small Embellishments Storage

Above the computer desk, I have a few small shelves packed with supplies. On the bottom shelf, I have a pretty metal tin I found at Hobby Lobby that holds all my small spools of American Crafts ribbon and twine . The storage drawers contain jewelry making supplies. I am thinking of eventually painting the outside white, instead of gray.

Jewelry supply organization

The next shelf up has a lot of little bits and pieces for scrapbooking and other general craft supplies like small clothespins, glitter, floral wire and tape, and binder rings. I store my Cricut tools and label maker I use for all my organizing on the top so they are easy to find.

Small craft supplies organization

  • Craft Paint Storage

On the shelf above that, I have all my acrylic paints stacked in some small crates . I have one painted gold but need to paint the second one. The glass jars hold glitter glue and small spools of twine.

Faux Flower Storage

On the wall next to the computer, I have all my small bags of flowers. Often I buy floral arrangements and pull them apart to use in scrapbooking and card making. And they are all in rainbow order like much of my supplies in my craft room. Organizing in this way seems more orderly to me, and so pretty!

To store my flowers like this, I add similar color flowers or leaves to  Ziploc bags. I punch a hole in the corner of the bag (above the zipper) and hang on command strips .

Flower storage and organization

My main desk is composed of eight of the storage cubes from Michaels , with four on each end of the desk. I was able to purchase the cubes inexpensively by getting a few used from Craigslist and the others were purchased when they were on sale and I had a coupon.

Last year we created the desktop by cutting down a large piece of MDF and then I painted it with semi-gloss white paint that makes it easy to clean but not too shiny when I take photos on my desk.

Paper Storage

I have found the best way to store paper is horizontally on shelves. I use both wooden shelves and a wire rack storage tower. You can also store paper vertically in storage containers like this: vertical paper storage container and then stack those on a shelf.

Solid Paper Storage

On the end of the desk, I keep all of my solid colored cardstock – both 12″ x 12″ and 8 1/2″ x 11″. I also keep rolls of vinyl mixed in on the shelves. Below that, I have a bin with dies and embossing folders, a bin with punches, and my ribbon storage bins .

End of craft storage desk

Patterned Paper Storage

I have a large wire storage tower for all my specialty papers. They are separated by seasons, manufacturers, and collections.

Paper storage cart

Adhesive and Washi Storage

In the divided drawers on the bottom, I keep adhesives, plus some extra specialty paints and supplies. And of course, I have a divided drawer full of washi tape!

Adhesive and washi tape storage

On top of the desk, I have my Cricut machine with the tie-dyed cover I made, a tiered basket with all my most used supplies – pens, scissors, holiday bits and pieces, pliers and cutters, Cricut pens , and clips, my sewing machine , and a pen storage desktop organizer .

My desktop holds my pens so they are horizontal, and inside the drawers, I keep small clear acrylic stamps and stamp pads. In the other drawer, I have the small rolls of ribbon from Jo-Anns. Do you see that adorable Scotty dog washi holder ? It is new from We R Memory Keepers!

Desktop organizer

Under the desk, I have a large 6 drawer and case rolling storage container that holds We R Memory Keepers supplies. I am on the design team for 2016 and I need to keep those supplies separate and easily accessible for projects.

We R Memory Keepers Storage

Cricut Mat Storage

I have my Cricut mats hung up on the side of the desk with a command hook , so they are easily accessible when I am crafting.

  • Paper Scraps Organization

In the drawer, I have all my cardstock and paper scraps separated by color in hanging folders . I don’t like to toss anything and I head to my scrap drawer first when working on smaller paper crafting projects.

Gift Wrap Storage

In the corner of the room next to the desk, I have more We R Memory Keepers supplies and a large bin with wrapping paper. This is actually just an inexpensive white trash can I picked up that works perfectly for keeping all the paper rolls contained.

Wrapping paper storage

In the closet, I have all of my gift wrapping supplies – tissue paper on hangers, a garment bag with more wrapping paper, bags of bows, my greeting card organizer, and small gift bags. I also have crafting books and other supplies on the shelves. On the door, I hang my cutting mat and acrylic rulers on a command hook.

Fabric Storage

To the right of the closet, I have a rolling cart I purchased from World Market. All of my fabric is folded onto comic book boards , pinned, and filed in the cart by color.

Fabric organization with World Market rolling cart

Above the fabric, I have a couple of small shelves to hold buttons separated by color in jars and my washi tape bunting .

Button organization

Scrapbook Embellishment Storage

I have another set of 2 Recollection storage cubes which mainly hold scrapbooking supplies, like stickers, letters, and small embellishments.

Scrapbook embellishment storage

Above it, in the corner unit, I have the Fuse organizer, with more We R Memory Keepers tools – like my Fuse and the Heatwave Pen . I also have baker’s twine on the shelves and a basket full of gift tags. I keep my paintbrushes in a small bucket I found in the Target dollar spot. The plastic bin holds more jewelry making supplies.

Fabric organization cart and other crafting supplies

We R Memory Keepers Tool Storage

I have a large cabinet that holds more supplies with two large shelves above it.

Craft storage cabinet to hold supplies out of sight

The top shelf holds my Cinch tool , party supplies, scissors, and painting supplies. The next shelf has the Evolution Advanced , embossing folders, and two baskets of adhesives.

Miscellaneous Craft Supply Storage

The cabinet has all of my Project Life supplies for scrapbooking.

Project Life Storage

Below that, I have my mom’s sewing basket. My cat scratched up the top. I am not sure I will be able to find this vintage fabric to replace it so I am still working on a fix. Behind the basket, I keep all my thread in repurposed plastic candy containers .

Vintage sewing basket

The cabinet is kind of a mess, but it holds my glue gun and Aleene’s adhesives , stamps, and extra small supplies. And the drawers contain chipboard and decorative letters separated by each letter of the alphabet.

Craft cabinet

The bottom drawer holds hanging file folders with patterned papers that are 8 1/2″ x 11″ or smaller.

Small paper storage and organization

Raskog Cart Storage

I also have a craft cart that holds more miscellaneous supplies like mason jars, extra markers and pens, and other random stuff I use for crafting. It sort of just floats around the room as I need it. We don’t have an IKEA locally, but I found this very similar cart at Michaels .

Current Projects

The large metal basket on the floor holds all my current projects I am working on. It is usually overflowing, but I am working on completing some of these projects before I take on more.

Project in progress bin

I have my CREATE marquee letters hung above the windows. And that adorable felt ball garland is from my secret sister last year at Snap !

Thank you for the inspiration! I am in the same process of organizing my craft room. I just painted the tree frog green and have a lively valance placed above my window. I emptied the double closet and found a wire rack perfectly fits . I am always looking for new ways to organize all the fun materials I have collected! I specially like the fact that you hung up your craft mats, great idea!

We recently moved into our new house and I am in the process of setting up my home office/craft room. Thanks for the inspiration, especially hanging the Cricut mats! That 12×24 mat never seemed to fit anywhere & always got in the way! I feel silly for not thinking of this. ;-) Great idea!

Rebecca, Thanks for stopping by! I am glad I was able to give you some organizational inspiration. Command strips and hooks are one of my favorite ways to organize things. And I always try to make use of vertical space where I can since I share this room with my husband and I don’t have a ton of space. Laura

I actually purchased it from a friend. However, this is a similar one on Consumer Crafts: https://shrsl.com/?gxzw (affiliate link). Hope that helps! xo, Laura

Let's get inspired to create!

Craft room tour/garage to craft room makeover.

Craftroom Island

It’s another Inspiration Friday and I want to take you on a Craft Room Tour. In fact it is my new Craft Room. Craft room organization is an essential part of crafting because supplies left in disarray can leave you feeling stifled and uninspired. Unfortunately, keeping things tidy is a huge problem for so many crafters, including me! I finish a project, and I don’t always pick up right away. Just because you’re creative doesn’t necessarily mean you’re organized. Lots of creative people can be quite messy at heart.

Craft-Room-Tour-PIN

I was fortunate this past year and was able to create a brand-new craft room! I call it a labor of love. My original craft room was an extra bedroom in our house, and it worked out great initially. It was a graduation up from the dining room table! But as Fun Stuff Crafts has grown, and my crafting and sewing have grown, my husband commented that I need more room! Now let me tell you we live in the country and my husband has a fun hobby of classic cars, so we have lots of outbuildings or garages. He offered one of his bays of garage as my new workspace.

Outside of Garage

So, our journey began in August, and by October, I was in my new “Happy Place.” So no more excuse for disorganization since I have ample space!

I should state that this was a journey. You need to understand what it looked liked before!

Craft-Room-Before

So, even if you’re the most disorganized crafter on earth, there are ways to change behaviors and be both inspired and organized. I want to show you my new space and share a few of my Do It Yourself craft room organization ideas to help you consider how to arrange, use, and display your supplies.

Organization can be the key to inspiration. If you’re a crafter by heart, you’ll know there’s no beating a sound organizational system. Otherwise, you risk wasting valuable hours digging through drawers, tubs, and closets for your supplies. I have been there! But I am trying to turn a new leaf, especially with my new space.

When I started planning for my new craft room, I decided that if I set up my craft room with a separate section dedicated to specific craft or sewing, it would help me with organization.

Craft-Room-Layout-1

Craft room organization doesn’t have to be ugly or boring. Craft rooms should be light and inviting. As I said before, I call my craft room my “Happy Place.”

My-Happy-Place

I want to take you on a tour of my room. You can view it through the video LINK below or follow along below as I visit each area of my craft room.

Section #1 Sublimation

My newest craft is Sublimation. Sublimation is the craft that helped make my new space a possibility. My husband loves what I have been making with Sublimation so much that he was spending more time in my old craft room that he determined that I needed more space!

Sublimation-Station

This area is in the front corner of my craft room. The space is all set up around my Heat Press . I have it sitting on a Rolling Cabinet which, I use to store some of my sublimation supplies. Next to the rolling card are two cabinets that I bought at Lowes. I wanted both doors and drawers on my cabinets. The countertops are from Home Depot, which is a Butcher Block Countertop . The countertop is a perfect spot for my Epson 7720 Sublimation Printer . To help protect my countertop, I have a Cricut Mat that slides under my printer.

Epson Printer on Mat on counter

One thing you will see in my craft room is numerous places are Garbage Can s. I have found that having a garage can handy really helps to keep my area tidy. So I found a slim Garbage Can that fits between my rolling cart and my cabinets.

Garbage Can between white cabinet and black cart

One item in my room that is larger than I had planned was my TV ! We joke at our house that you can tell that my husband went shopping with me on the TV. Even though it is bigger than I planned, I love it. As you will see later on in this blog post, my desk is at the other end of the room. So, a big TV is great!

Section #2 Sitting Area

I had not originally planned on having this little sitting area, but I love it! The cute chairs were a Christmas present from my husband. He found them at our local TJ Maxx. I added a cute Ottoman/Table w/Storage between the chairs. It serves as both a table and storage. It is empty now, but I am sure I will find something to store in it! I also keep my Ring Light in this area.

Black and White Checked Chairs in Sitting-Area

Section #3 Paint Area

Our next stop is the paint storage area. The paint area is the last space that I have completed.

Paint-Area

The wall called for a punch of color. It was fun to use my paint bottles on shelves to add that color. I tried a few different ideas and landed on this layout. I started with a Cabinet I already had and added the Ikea Peg Board system that I already had from my old craft room. It is always good to repurpose items. You don’t need to buy everything new! I purchased the Acrylic Shelves to add to my pegboard system, and then I added some cute little buckets that I already had for paintbrushes.

Paint Bottles on a clear peg board shelf

Section #4 Cricut and Paper Crafting Area

As we move around the room, our next stop is an area that I designed around my Cricut Maker . I love using it for many different crafts, and I wanted it and all my accessories within arm’s reach. This area started with determining what cabinets I wanted and how I wanted to lay them out. I first started with a list of what I wanted to store in this area, and then I selected the cabinet layout. The items I wanted to store were my Circuit and my paper supply, vinyl supply, and accessories. So I decided on two base cabinets and two upper cabinets. I also placed a pantry cabinet on either side of the base and upper units. We used the same countertop for this area. You will see that I have done that throughout the room.

Cricut-Area

Now let’s talk about some of the storage ideas that I have used in this area. To store my vinyl, I added Metal Drawer Pull-outs to one of the pantry units.

Metal-Pull-Outs

My pantry units were so deep, so I add the Metal Drawer Pull-outs so I did not have any wasted space. I then picked up some baskets for vinyl storage. You will see that I have three shelves full of vinyl. The first shelf is Cricut’s Infusible Ink. The next shelf is full of standard vinyl, and the last shelf is heat transfer vinyl. I use Storage Tubs in the upper cupboards to sort and store some of my craft tools and supplies.

Cabinet-Storage

The Dollar Tree Trays are great to help organize my drawers. You will see them in almost all of my drawers.

Drawer-Trays

In the other pantry cabinet, I have all of my paper. I love to use Magazine Holders to sort and store my 12X12 paper pads. I use a small storage tub to sort my scrap paper.

magazine-Holder

Section #5 Desk and Work Area

The next stop is my desk area and where I have my desk. I already had my desk, and I loved that it was an adjustable desk. I bought it a couple of years ago at Habitat for Humanity. Initially, I did not think I would have enough space for the desk. But it all worked out, and it fits perfectly. This area also services as my “Real” job works space. Some of you may know that I am a banker by day part-time.

Craftroom-Tour-Desk-Area

Luckily, I can work from home, so I wanted to make sure I had this space all set up for both work and crafting and designing. Once again, you will find a Cricut Mat on top of my desk, also with my work computer and my personal MacBook Air , and an Epson ET 4700 Printer . Under my desk for storage, I have a couple of storage items. I have Ikea Drawers and a Cubicle, and next to my desk, I have a tall Ikea Drawers unit next to my desk. In each of my drawer units, I have more or my Dollar Tree Trays . I wanted to add some display area to the wall above my desk, so I decided on three white shelves. I

White Shelves with FS on top shelf

Section #6 Closet

My closet wall was so much fun to do. I wanted to add an accent wall to the room. We had some fence boards on hand, and we purchased some extra and add vinegar and steel wool to create our reclaimed wall! We topped them off with Barn Doors from Home Depot!

White-Barn-Doors

Once you enter my closet, you will first see my cute little Mini Fridge , Sink , Coffee Cart , and my Keurig . You will also see my Convection Oven , which I use for Sublimation. There was not enough room at the Sublimation area, and I don’t use it that often so I thought the closet would be an excellent place to put it.

Teal Mini Refrigerator

To maximize my storage area, I added more wall Shelving and a few Under shelf Wire baskets. I use a variety of Storage Tubs to sort and organized my craft supplies. One organization tip to consider is trying to keep supplies in separate containers or drawers.

Storage Bins on Shelf with labels

Before you think that a ton of individual compartments will cost you a ton, remember that these containers can be something like repurposed mason jars or something you would find at the a Dollar Tree store. I love The Dollar Tree Trays . They provide endless organization possibilities.

On one end of the closed, I have a Lowes Base Cabinet for some of my larger tools, and the other end is a Lateral File Cabinet to store some of my extra material. The majority of my fabric I have sorted and stored on Foam Boards and in plastic bins. I love having them so handy and sorted by color and type.

Fabric-Storage

Section #7 Sewing Area

Now is it time for my sewing area. If COVID did one thing for me, it was to help me rediscover my love of sewing. I have sewn since a very young age. My mom was a seamstress in her native England, and she taught me to sew, but I have not done a lot of sewing over the past couple of years. But 3,000+ masks later and numerous gaiters, I have remembered why I love to sew. It is just one more way to create things!

Sewing-Area

I have the same countertop in my sewing area and we added some Workbench Legs to make my sewing tables. Then, of course, I have my Sewing Machine and my Serger . Under my countertop, I have added some Alex Cabinets and Ikea Drawers . I have my drawers loaded with Dollar Tree Trays. They work great for organization.

Draw pulled open showing thread

One idea I love is adding a Tape Measure to the top of my counter. That way, I have a tape measure at my fingertips.

Tape-Measure-on-table

I added a pair of matching Chairs and then added a Pressing Pad on top of one of my Alex Cabinets . I have a tutorial on making one. You can find the LINK here.

Alex Unit and Pressing Pad

I also added a Cricut Mat to protect my countertop. I also added a Roomba to my craft room to help keep it clean. Next to my sewing station, I have another Pantry Cabinet to store my mailing and packaging supplies. Next to the Cabinet, I have a 4-Drawer File Cabinet that to my Dad.

White Pantry Cabinet and white Drawers

I added a coat of white paint to it, and I feel that I have a piece of my Dad with me in my craft room. One other addition we made to the craft room was a heat/air unit. We installed a mini-split. It has been great to have it on some of these cold Pacific Northwest mornings.

Section #8 Crafting/Sewing Island

The center focal point of my craft room is my large center island. I went through lots of different ideas but landed on this island with the help of my husband. We started with a Butcher Block Countertop that you will see throughout my craft room as my countertops. My husband did lots of research and found some great Workbench Legs that are very sturdy to support my large tabletops. I decided on two tops to make the size of the island that I wanted for crafting. My island is 50″x98″. We did add some Risers to the legs to give them a little more height. We finished off with some great Stools from Amazon. Eight stools seemed like the best number because I would love to have in-person crafting classes sometime in the future.

Craft Room view with Large Island Table

My journey involved cleaning, building, up-cycling, and lots of re-organization. The end of the journey has given me a craft room that is a functional workspace! I love my “Happy Place”, and I feel inspired to create. I hope I’ve given you some good ideas for craft storage and organization.

Craft Room Tour: Decorating And Organizing Ideas

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. PLEASE S EE OUR  FULL DISCLOSURE POLICY  FOR DETAILS .

Take this craft room tour to get decorating and organizing ideas that will help you set up your own creative art space or home office.

Happy Friday! Today I wanted to invite you behind the scenes into my home office and crafting space. Pour yourself a cup of coffee and let me take you on a little craft room tour to give you some decorating and organizing ideas for setting up your own creative art space or home office.

Love this craft room tour! So many colorful decorating ideas and easy organizing ideas that would work great for a kid's art room or a creative home office space.

Back in January, I told you all about the problems I was having in my craft room with lots of messy before photos. As part of that blog post, I shared 5 easy ideas for craft room organization and promised to follow-up and give you a full tour of the room now that it’s done. This has got to be one of my favorite rooms in our entire house and I can’t wait to share it with you!

Welcome to My Craft Room Tour

Come inside and let me give you a little 360 degree craft room tour. I hope you enjoy this little peek into our space and that it gives you a little better idea of where I make many of the projects you see here on Ideas for the Home by KenarryÂŽ. More importantly I hope this craft room tour gives you an idea or two that you can use for decorating or setting up your own crafty space.

Our Basement Craft Room

My craft room is in the basement or lower level of our home. To get to the craft room, you’ll walk down the stairs past our castle playroom and through the boy’s toy area to enter through double doors.

I chose French glass doors so I can close the space off if I don’t want the boys messing with something I’m creating. Or alternatively, I can also be painting or crafting away in there and easily watch through the glass to keep an eye on the boys playing.

Grab a Paint Smock

The first thing you’ll notice when you enter our craft room is a little inspiring message on a magnetic metal chalkboard that M-D Hobby & Craft gave me at the Haven Conference for DIY/home bloggers last August.

It hangs on the side of an IKEA cabinet that I use for storing the large photography equipment I use for blogging like a  light kit , vinyl backdrops and a large backdrop support/stand . Then of course, you’ll want to grab a paint smock off one of the  Command Hooks  because it’s bound to get a little messy while we’re in here!

Love this craft room tour! So many colorful decorating ideas and easy organizing ideas that would work great for a kid's art room or a creative home office space.

A Utility Sink is a Must-Have

On the other side of the French doors, opposite of the cabinet, you’ll see a large utility sink and a long chalkboard wall. I am SO glad we went through the effort and expense of putting a utility sink in the craft room. We got this one at Costco and use it ALL THE TIME!

Craft Room Utility Sink Uses

Here are just a few of the ways we use our craft room sink. If you are adding a new craft room or renovating, I definitely recommend adding a sink like this.

  • Washing up after crafts
  • Doing water crafts
  • Filling up buckets for heavy-duty cleanup
  • Dumping out and cleaning paint trays

Create An Inspirational Gallery Wall

Above the sink you’ll spy a little gallery wall with some art I’ve collected over the last few years.

I found the colored pencil canvas on clearance at Kirklands ( This one is similar ).

The “Be the Most Brilliant Color in the Box” canvas came from Hobby Lobby. They don’t carry online, but you may still be able to find it in store. Otherwise,  this same design is available on Amazon as a peg board .

I won the cute little bird art in a raffle fundraiser for Women’s Service Day , an annual event I help organize in our community. It was created by Kathy Stanton, one of my favorite local artists.

Create a DIY Paper Towel Holder

Above the sink, we also installed a GRUNDTAL Rail from IKEA to hang towels. To create the paper towel holder, I strung a piece of sisal rope through the hole in the middle of the paper towel roll. Then I tied a large loop on each end of the rope and hung it from two GRUNDTAL S-hooks. The rope makes it really easy to change the paper towel roll whenever it runs out.

Chalkboard Wall and Wire Art Display

Adjacent to the sink, you’ll notice about half to 2/3rd of the wall is a large oversized chalkboard. Our boys LOVE this! We just used several coats of  chalkboard paint directly on the drywall. Then we put a horizontal piece of trim across to separate the chalkboard from the rest of the wall.

Above the trim, we installed a long curtain wire from IKEA . We use small metal clips that were meant for curtains to hang art that the boys bring home from school or that we create together in the craft room.

The Crafting Command Center

On the next wall, opposite from the French doors I have a large desk system that I got at an office supply outlet from a local manufacturer. I picked this set because it had a cabinet and file drawers that I could lock to keep the boys out of messy or dangerous art supplies like the paper cutter , X-acto knife etc.

It may be against my better judgement, but I did put the colorful carousel of fancy scissors on one of the open shelves ( This one is similar ). It was just too pretty to hide away. Hopefully the boys don’t make me regret my decision!

On the open shelves I also put the  Silhouette Cameo  the boys got me for Christmas last year as well as large clear acrylic canisters . Don’t they look fun and inviting with the boys’ colorful markers and colored pencils ? I’m glad I chose acrylic instead of glass canisters so they won’t break if the boys drop them on the floor.

A Gallery Wall Fit for a Crafter (or #Blogger!)

Between the open shelf unit and the cabinet unit, there’s an small desk that adjoins the two. Above the desk, I created a small home office gallery. At the top of the gallery is a large oversized red clock I got from At Home and a #blogger sign from The Summery Umbrella .

Under that you’ll see a  bulletin board I covered with black and white fabric. It was just a regular old corkboard before I gave it a makeover. Then next to that is a magnetic markerboard. It’s the same size as the bulletin board so they balance each other well.

At the bottom of the gallery, we installed another GRUNDTAL Rail from IKEA. I used GRUNDTAL S-hooks to hang a red wooden “tool box” I got from the Dollar Spot at Target  and bright colorful buckets that I found on clearance at Michael’s . The hanging buckets are super handy for storing craft supplies that I use all the time like Sharpie markers , colored pencils , gel pens and paint brushes .

Craft Room Durability and Flexibility

Next to the storage cabinet, you’ll see I’ve got folding chairs stacked up against the wall. I picked the Lifetime brand plastic ones from Costco because they’re really easy to wipe clean if the boys or I spill paint or glue in the craft room. That’s also the reason we put inexpensive laminate flooring in this room. I wanted flooring that would look nice and wipe up easily, but that I wouldn’t feel bad if I accidentally dropped something or scratched it up.

On that wall, you’ll find the one small window in this room. Under the window, I keep a long  6 ft folding table  for crafting. Using a folding table, gives me flexibility to rearrange this room quickly and easily depending on the needs of the craft. I’ve even added a second folding table at times to host craft time with my friends in this space.

Easy Way to Showcase Art

To the left of the window, you see large open frames on the wall where I hang more art that the boys create. The front on two of the frames opens like a cabinet so you can slide new art in and out. I got those at Target, but any of these frames would work the same.

The other two are just open frames I bought at Michael’s. I put small nails into the wall inside the frames and then use small binder clips to hang the art.

Wrapping Up the Craft Room Tour

And now with one final turn, you’ll see we’re back to the big white cabinet where you picked up your paint smock on the way in! What do you think? Did you enjoy my little craft room tour?

Thanks Trish! It’s great to have a space where we can make a good mess!

Hey Carrie. I just bought your Ultimate Craft Room Planner. I haven’t read it in full yet but already printed it and the Printables I will most likely use. I’m looking forward to applying your suggestions and tips to my very unorganized craft room. It’s true what they say; I know I will feel more productive with enthusiasm to do my crafts once I’m organized. As of right now I haven’t crafted in a while let alone have the room to craft. So thank you for creating the Ultimate Craft Room Planner. I’m looking at your Craft Room Tour now as I write this. Thank you for all your ideas, suggestions and tips. Keep up your great advice.

Craft Room Tour

February 7, 2018

Hi friends! If you’re new here, Welcome! And welcome everyone to my Craft Room Tour. The regulars around here know that I’ve been busy cleaning up and reorganizing the creative spaces in my house. Specifically, the office/craft room and my basement workshop. But today I want to focus just on my craft room/office.

craft room tour youtube

This craft room used to be my daughter’s bedroom until she got married and moved out. Yep, I’m an empty-nester (well, with one boomerang but hopefully he’ll be gone soon and we can reclaim that bedroom also. ? (I think my husband Dan would like to convert that room into an office/fishing gear/biking gear/paddleboarding gear/storage area. In other words: a second floor garage. Whatever. As long as I have my creating spaces he can have it. ?

Now let’s get on with my Craft Room Tour and maybe you pick up a few organizational ideas for your crafting space.

Since this room isn’t big, I make the most out of every square inch.

craft room tour youtube

I may earn money or products from the companies/products mentioned in this post at no additional cost to you. As always I only recommend products and services that I use and love.

craft room tour youtube

Come on in!

craft room tour youtube

There’s a lot going on in this room but this is what you see as soon as you walk in.

Let’s turn to the left and look back at the door:

craft room tour youtube

You’ll notice more Command Strip Hooks on the back of the door, too. To the right of the door are my paint storage shelves. I started out with just a small one and quickly learned I needed another, bigger craft paint storage shelf! Find out how you can build your own paint storage shelf here and here . Above those paint storage shelves is a shelf made out of salvaged wood and two corbels . Lots of shelves to hold lots of paint!

I told you I make use of every square inch in this room – even behind the door.

craft room tour youtube

To the right of the shelves is my “desk”. This table is actually my very first furniture build. It’s a farmhouse table that works perfectly in this space. A regular desk just would not be big enough for my needs. Over the desk, you can’t help but see the pegboard. The giant pegboard . (Under the desk is where I keep my printer and crafting luggage ; ) I’m preparing to go to a scrapbooking weekend so I’m loading those bags! Here’s how I prepare to go to a weekend crop ).

craft room tour youtube

That huge pegboard is such a huge space saver! I think every creative space must have a pegboard.

Next are the cubbie units. These units hold so much stuff. I have two stacked together on this wall. They hold everything from fabric to office supplies. There is also room on the top for storage baskets. I got these units at Home Depot several years ago but I still think they are still available.

Then we come to the “sewing nook” area. Look at that brightly painted sewing cabinet – I love it! It makes me smile. The drawers in that cabinet plus the drawers in the wooden chest hold lots of sewing supplies like thread, bobbins, elastic, etc.

Then there’s the closet. See, I told you I have hooks on those doors too.

craft room tour youtube

There are two shelving units in there are packed with more crafting supplies. The black shelving unit on the left is from Costco. I don’t remember where the other one came from. It was in this closet when my daughter was still here. Now that I’m thinking about it, I think it came from Costco also.

Let’s take one last look:
