Mediterranean Cruises from Barcelona

The gateway to an unforgettable vacation in Europe.

Our Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona encompass the whole spectrum of what makes Europe so special. You’ll visit impossibly beautiful seaside villages in Italy, cosmopolitan cities in Spain, and glamorous towns along the French Riviera.

Gaze in wonder at Renaissance masterpieces in Florence and Pisa, and learn about the fascinating history of Pompeii. Marvel at Athens’ fascinating historical landmarks, and breathe in the fragrance of the lavender fields in Provence. Whether you choose a seven-night cruise or a longer 12-night voyage, Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona will show you the very best of this historic region.

Itineraries

Featured ports of call.

Spilling over seven hills, Athens spans some 5,000 years of history. At its heart is the iconic Parthenon, gleaming atop Acropolis Hill. Combine your visit here with time at the exceptional Acropolis Museum, packed with priceless archaeological finds. Shop for handmade jewelry in the historic Plaka neighborhood and sample a Greek mezze in a vine-shaded taverna. Head up Mount Lycabettus to see the whole city stretched out below you, the Aegean Sea sparkling in the distance.

Fall in love with the Eternal City and its alluring history and culture. Marvel at the imposing Colosseum, the largest ancient amphitheater ever built, dating back to 80 AD. Visit masterful works of art, like Michelangel’s breathtaking frescoed ceiling in the Sistine Chapel inside the Vatican. Enjoy an afternoon of people-watching with a gelato in a sunlit piazza. And don’t forget to toss a coin into the baroque Trevi Fountain, which, legend has it, guarantees a return to Rome.

Florence/Pisa (La Spezia), Italy

Puerto Rico loves to party, and Christmas is no exception. You’ll find Christmas trees draped in colorful lights, nativity scenes, and buzzing food stalls. There’s music everywhere; a local tradition is singing parrandas, or carols, with guitars and maracas. Explore the colorful streets of Old San Juan and then snorkel among tropical fish and sea turtles in Escambrón Marine Park. Celebrate the season with a chilled coquito, a festive shot of condensed milk, coconut, and rum.

Cruising the Mediterranean and Beyond

Repositioning Cruises From Barcelona In November

' src=

By the time November comes around the prime Mediterranean cruise season is coming to an end. That means it’s time for the cruise lines to move their ships to new home ports for the winter. These are known as “repositioning cruises” and provide some relatively unique opportunities to take a one-way cruise out of Barcelona.

Costa Is Busiest In November

Costa Cruise Lines provides the most repositioning cruises from Barcelona in November, with three ships heading to new homes. Instead of looking for a warmer spot in the northern hemisphere, they’re staying in the summer season by sending their ships south.

Costa Favalosa will be making a transatlantic trip to South America. There are two options for length and final destination: 14-nights to Rio de Janeiro or 15 days to Santos (the port city nearest to Sao Paulo). On the way there will be visits to Lanzarote (Arrecife), St. Cruz de Tenerife, Recife, Maceio, and Salvador. The cruise leaves Barcelona on November 20th.

Two days later, Costa Fortuna will be making a similar trip across the Atlantic. This time there will be a 15-night option that ends in Rio de Janeiro and a 18-day trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina. The itinerary for the cruise varies slightly from that of Favalosa, with stops in Casablanca, Las Palmas (Canary Islands), Recife, Salvador and Ilheus.

And finally, Costa Toscana begins its 18 day transatlantic voyage on November 29th, ending in Santos, Brazil. On Day 2 it’ll make a stop in Cadiz, followed by visits to Lanzarote, Tenerife, Salvador and Ilheus.

In addition to Costa, Viking also offers one repositioning cruise to South America as Viking Jupiter begins a 22-day voyage on November 10th. Ports of call include Granada, Casablanca, Dakar, Rio and Montevideo. The cruise ends in Buenos Aires.

Repositioning Cruises From Barcelona To Florida

Two ships will be moving from Barcelona to Florida in November, with Holland America’s Oosterdam going to Fort Lauderdale and Oceania Sirena headed to Miami.

Ooosterdam’s leaves Barcelona on November 5th on its 14-day “Spanish Farewell” transatlantic cruise. It’ll make three stops in Spain: Cartagena, Malaga, and Cadiz; then to Lisbon and Funchal before arriving in Fort Lauderdale.

Oceania Sirena gets a one day headstart on Oosterdam, departing Barcelona on November 4th. It’s another 14-night cruise with visits to Malaga, Funchal and Bermuda on the way to Miami. Sirena will spend the winter mixing up Caribbean cruises that depart from Miami and Bridgetown, Barbados.

Seabourn and Royal Caribbean to Barbados

Seabourn Ovation takes its time getting to its destination with a 28-night cruise to Barbados. Departing Barcelona on November 12th it makes a couple of stops in Morocco (Tangier and Casablanca), a couple more in the Canary Islands, heads a bit north to say “Hi!” to Lisbon, cross the Atlantic and makes a few Caribbean island stops (St. Johns, St. Kitts, Guadeloupe and Martinique) before finally arriving in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Royal Caribbean’s Rhapsody of the Seas leaves Barcelona on November 12th with a more single-minded, destination-oriented approach: just 12 nights to get to Barbados. Still, cruisers will get a chance to see Cannes, Malaga and Madeira along the way. Rhapsody of the Seas then begins a winter of southern Caribbean cruises from 5 to 14 days in length.

Santorini is the epitome of Greece. Wander into the welcoming cafes in Oia, a village teeming with whitewashed buildings and blue-domed roofs. Continue to some of the world’s oldest vineyards and taste the bouquet of wines produced on the island, making sure to visit the black-sand beach of Kamari before heading back to your Mediterranean cruise ship.

Rooted in Greek mythology, Athens is alive with stories from civilizations of the past. On a cruise to Europe departing from Athens, arrive early to tour the remains of ancient lores — like the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Acropolis — dine at the city’s lively tavernas and admire iconic sculptures bathed in natural light within the Acropolis Museum.

Until it was popularized by the 1992 Olympics, Barcelona was a hidden gem amid Europe’s diverse landscapes. Now it’s widely recognized for its architectural masterpieces and spirited customs. Nestled within Boka Bay lies a medieval gem. Kotor is enrobed in ancient houses, palaces and churches that speak to its 12th-century origins. On a Greek cruise, dine on Montenegrin cuisine in the home of a local chef, appreciate 14th-century Venetian art at St. Tryphon’s Cathedral and taste regional wines along the riviera. Or see another side of the city when you kayak through the tunnels of Lipa Cave.

Discover the vibrant culture of Istanbul, Turkey, with a variety of excursions. Explore the iconic Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, marvel at the treasures in Topkapi Palace, or wander through the bustling Grand Bazaar. Take a scenic Bosphorus Cruise, visit the ancient Underground Cistern, or experience a traditional Turkish breakfast. Each excursion offers a unique glimpse into Istanbul's rich history and dynamic present. Immerse yourself in the magic of this transcontinental city on a Mediterranean cruise with Princess.
