We were so pleased with Grayline of Anaheim, we used them again on 8-21-16 to visit Los Angeles and Santa Monica..we learned so much from the driver who explained what we were seeing. The stop at the Farmers market in LA was great..I highly recommend Greyline of Anaheim for your touring needs!

Grayline of Anaheim is the best!

Excellent! ! Booked Universal Studios trip with Grayline..prompt pick up next day. .ease of getting tickets at depot, great bus driver..dropped us off at main gate to Universal. Door to door service at your hotel. I couldn't have been more pleased with the whole process..I recommend Gray Line as opposed to car rental, especially when I am not used to driving on the freeways in S . California. ..Thank you, Grayline! !

Avoid at all cost. Paid for my transfer from LAX to Disneyland Hotel. Had to wait and hour for a pick Up at the airport. Called to reserve my ride back to LAX and they refused to pick myself and my nine year old son up because we were outside of operating hours. Unfortunately their online reservation system does not indicate this when you book. Since this happened on a Saturday there was nothing their pointless staff would do to assist us. We were simply out of luck. Now I have ended up spending another $50 for an Uber. Extremely poor "customer service".

Our 5 days in Anaheim included 1 day wandering and 3 days in Disneyland...but what to do with that extra 5th day???... UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD of course! Last Fall my friend and I decided to cross some things off our bucket list. Killing two birds with one stone, we added USH to our Great Disneyland Adventure. With no car, a tour bus would be our best bet, even though we hated the idea of limiting our time because tour scheduels. You really have to spend your time wisely (i.e. "you go to the bathroom before we leave the hotel..got it?) So here is why Southern California Gray Line gets all 5 stars... 1) With SCGL, we actually saved a few bucks. We bought directly fron SCGL our USH Front of The Line Pass + tour bus fare + no service fee (USH online ticket prices changes depending on the week you want to go and you can add tour bus tickets for $20pp. But do shop around. SCGL prices changes too.) 2) They pick you up at your hotel and drop you off at the tour bus depot to get your tickets, then you're off to your destination. Afterwards, you get dropped off directly at your hotel. 3) Great customer service, I had to call for confirmation and other questions like "where do I stand for pick up... oh right in front of my hotel and not across the street?" 4) On Time 5) Vin Diesel wax at the bus depot...seriously, i walked right passed him thinking he was a real person. 6) Dennis, the driver/ tour guide.(I hope that was his name) Thoroughly knowledgeable, totally entertaining. For about $20 we thought this was just going to be a silent ride to USH. Oh no Dennis talked the whole ride, giving us LA history via freeway. He taught us about the building we passed and some of the celebrities in relations to the buildings. He even gave us great tips on how to maximize our time at USH. I was literally taking notes (such a geek). THANK U Dennis, because we rode all the rides, some twice and saw just about everything we wanted to see with time to spare. 7) On the ride home we watched How To Train Your Dragon 2... yes! I can cross that off my to-watch-list! Do tip your driver!

Here's what I sent to them and they've failed to respond 3 times: I am VERY disappointed with the service that I received from the Disneyland Resort express both from LAX to the Disneyland resort and from the Disneyland resort to LAX. Prior to our arrival at LAX on June 11, 2016, I called the reservation line twice to ensure that the bus that was scheduled to pick us up would have a working wheelchair lift. The bus that arrived did not have a working wheelchair lift and we had to delay our arrival at the airport by another hour. This was very physically and medically taxing for me as I needed to be able to rest - the hour delay was UNACCEPTABLE. I was told to call the complaint line - I did, no one ever bothered to return my call. Once another bus arrived, I was assured that everything was set for our return trip to LAX on June 20th. On June 20, 2016, friends that were travelling to LAX with us called to verify (ONCE AGAIN) that the bus coming to pick us up had a working wheelchair lift and they were told everything was set. We went to get on the 1:00 p.m. shuttle and there was no lift at all. Again, I was told I would have to wait for the next bus. We nearly missed our flight and the added stress of having to hurry through security and get to the gate was very taxing on me. Not only am I requesting a refund for the $72.00 that I paid for the round-trip, I am also requesting a formal apology. This entire experience was unacceptable and I've already contacted the multiple advocacy groups that I am part of to let them know NOT to use Southern California Gray Line.

Photo of Joy B.

There is a wild driver in one of these busses on the Cal 55-N and he cut my friend and I off while we were jamming and I am outraged. On the back of the vehicle it said "how is my driving?" And so let me tell you ma'am/sir, I'm furious and I will never book your services. Avril levin didn't die so her clone could live in this messed up world

Photo of Dave R.

We had Charles W for our driver and he is the best. Not only is he a very safe and efficient driver, but his knowledge and sense of humor made the time pass quickly. If you're lucky you'll get him!

Photo of Garen M.

We took the LA and Hollywood tour with Juan being our driver/guide. He took us to all the significant places and gave us plenty of time to experience them. He was very knowledgeable and had lots of stories and anecdotes about what we were seeing. He was also helpful about warning us of any people/places we needed to avoid. We spent 10 hours on this tour and had a wonderful time.

Photo of Alyson M.

Left Knotts Berry Farm early to make sure that we got to our shuttle in time to get back to our hotel. Sat and waited for over half an hour and no one showed. Finally called at 6:30 when we were told it would be here at 6 and were told that the shuttle left at 6:10 without us. No call, nothing (we had made reservations and they had our number to call). Found out they didn't send the same vehicle, they sent an unmarked white mini van. We had no idea that was the shuttle (they picked us up in a huge tour bus). I am so glad that this is the only and last time we're using this shuttle service. Who doesn't call?! When you checked your list and noticed passengers are missing, you should call to check and see where they are, not just leave them stranded. I gave 3 stars at least because they sent a shuttle for us within 15 minutes and the driver who picked us up was very polite and talked to us.

Photo of Ramie G.

I realized that I needed to cancel my reservation a month in advance ... but they would not allow for any refund. $60! I can't believe it. Very frustrating.

Photo of Shannon J.

Awful experience. Even though only my 7 year old son and I were the only guests picked up at our hotel, the driver took off before we had put our carry ons in the overhead. We were still standing in the aisle and the driver just takes off sending both of us flying all over the bus. I yelled for him to stop but he didn't care. I should have realized what we were in for when I looked at the sign on the front of the bus that had the words "for excellent service" crossed out and just said "Gratuities Accepted." Never again will I use this company. You have lost my business. Even the process to file a complain was ridiculous. It took almost 25 minutes and the woman asked me not to call and report the problem to the hotel. She said "it has nothing to do with Disney." Well then why does Disney allow the bus to say Disneyland Express?

If you want more time in the Park, then you can take the Train into LA and Universal Studios. Or rent a car for the day and drive yourself. Its pretty easy, and all mostly on one freeway. Universal Studios is also close to the exit for the Park off the freeway so its easy to find.

Im not familiar with Beach Tours. If no one gives you info, I would suggest contacting them directly to see exactly what they will offer. But again, keep in mind that Huntington Beach is a short 30 min drive from Anaheim all on surface streets, so easy to rent a car for the day and be on your own schedule. NewPort Beach is also about a 30 min drive or so.

grayline tours anaheim

You get picked up between 8:05 and 8:35 and taken to their terminal. You can be there for as much as an hour depending on the number of guests so, by the time all the other guests are picked up and turn in their vouchers, it's a challenge and you don't arrive at the park until around 11am.

On the other hand, if you drive and leave at 8am - you will be to the park by 9:15am - use the car pool lanes on the 5N to the 91W to the 710N to the 10W to the 101N - car pool is on the first two for the first 15 miles of the 33 mile trip and that helps a lot of that. I've had guests say that when they arrive at 9:15, they ride EVERYTHING they want to ride within the first 3 hours when most of the tour buses are still arriving. It makes a HUGE difference. Then, just stay late and have dinner at CityWalk which is attached to Universal.

I think the Orange County Beaches far exceed LA Beaches - mostly because of the distance you travel to get to them. Do a search for Beach Tours from Anaheim if you want to do a tour. Otherwise, rent a car . That's pretty easy too although you have to park it yourself...

I hope that helps. If it's a point to point trip - I think renting a car is a great way to go. If it's going to lots of different spots, leave the driving to someone else.

Happy planning!

And I have also heard that you can pick up a list of places to visit to make your own tour for the sign, ect thats pretty easy. I dont though remember where they said you could get that. If no one familiar with that responds here, I would suggest posting in the LA forum so they can help you plan that part of your trip.

If it were me, I'd either drive or take the train. If you drove, there is one additional aspect I'll add to Tom's very thorough remarks, above. When you drive onto the Universal grounds, you need to park and there are a number of parking options -- some closer to the entrance to the Park than others. If you park in 'preferred parking', you'll pay more but you'll be a lot closer (within easy walking distance) to the turnstiles. If you park in 'general parking', you'll have some serious walking or, you'll need to WAIT FOR and then RIDE AROUND UPON the 'free parking lot tram'. It can easily take 30 minutes to park and then transfer to the turnstiles because if you come early, there will be a line of cars in front of you paying for parking!

Central Hollywood & Universal Studios are one metro rail stop apart from one another (4 minutes on the 'red line train'). So, you can park in either area and take the train between the two. It's more than a 4 minute transfer since you need to ascend/descend into/out of the stations and, of course, wait for the train (runs every 12 minutes). Plus, when you arrive at Universal City Station, it's not AT the entrance to the Park; you need to wait for the free tram 'up the hill' to the Park entrance. (Trams runs once every 15 minutes or so and the ride takes a minute or you can walk up the hill -- 10 minutes). In all, the transfer takes 35 to 40 minutes.

If you want to park in Hollywood, the Hollywood & Highland Center Mall is the obvious choose. The parking is only $2 for the first 2 hours (you must make a purchase in the mall -- a cup of coffee, ice cream cone, etc) to get this rate. After 2 hours, the rate climbs pretty quickly. The max for the day is $13. This compares favorable with the parking rates at Universal ($16 for general parking; more for 'preferred parking'). One option is to park at Hollywood & Highland and take a taxi to Universal and back (about $12 each way / 12 minutes or so).

As far as seeing the Hollywood sign , it's visible from a lot of places. One such place is the rear patio area of the Hollywood & Highland Center Mall. Our TOP QUESTIONS box lists many of the other viewing sites. If you don't have a computer (you need one to see the TOP QUESTIONS box at the right side of the LOS ANGELES FORUM home page -- you and I are in the ANAHEIM FORUM home page), here's a shortcut to the content:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g32655-c174983/Los-Angeles:California:Viewing.The.Hollywood.Sign.html

As far as touring Los Angeles is concerned, Starline Tours has a couple of dozen tours that depart from in front of the Chinese Theater (or nearby to it). Note: the Chinese Theater is next to the Hollywood & Highland Center Mall. Here is a list of tours that depart FROM HOLLYWOOD:

http://www.starlinetours.com/los-angeles-tours.asp

If you take the train, it's a 3-part transfer process:

a. Taxi to the Anaheim (not the Fullerton) train station. Anaheim is closer to the Disneyland area than Fullerton so your taxi rate will be less; plus the train fare is only 75-cents more from Anaheim than from Fullerton

b. Take a metrolinktrains.com train to Union Station . (You can take amtrak as well but it's more expensive) (about 50 minutes)

c. Transfer to the red line metro rail train at Union Station to the Universal City station (show you metrolink ticket as free fare on the red line). The ride takes about 25 minutes.

d. Exit the station; cross to the diagonally-opposing corner. Take the free tram 'up the hill' to the Park (15 minutes including 'waiting time' for the tram).

Note: if you plan to stay into the evening, only amtrak has evening trains. Their last departure from Los Angeles Union Station departs at 10:10 pm.

Does anyone have any advice or reviews of the Grayline Tours that leave from Anaheim? I have considered either Universal Studios, Catalina Island or the San Diego Zoo for a Day 6 option. I have also considered just a pool/resort day as well. I will be traveling solo so whatever I decide, it would be only myself to worry about getting to and from the tour. The website says they have a courtesy pick-up from 80 area hotels so I am guessing that the Disneyland Hotel would be one. Any advice? Thanks

I've done them twice. Both times to Seaworld, once from Hojos once from the DLH. Both were spur of the monent trips booked the day before. They pick you up at your hotel in a large bus that makes multiple stops. Then you are taken to their facility where you get on the bus that is going to the place you have chosen. They have a lot of different destinations and there are a lot of people but its fairly well organized. They are clear on when they will be back and where to meet them. If you don't have a car and want to go somewhere they go its a cost effective option that gets you there. Probably the only downside is you definitely don't get to go for a full day. By the time we got there, SW was already open and was still open when we left.

I've done three (all solo), Sea World, San Diego Zoo, and the OC tour. As stated above, a bus picks you up at your hotel, then takes you to their bus station. You get into a very looooooong line (but don't let that fool you, it moves very quickly). You go back outside where there are several buses going to different locations. All are marked well, and the driver of each is standing outside the bus to greet you and direct you is you can't find your bus. Going solo, I felt safe using this service at all aspects. The price can't be beat as a solo, family, I can see how it would get expensive fast, (and you don't have to worry about Cali traffic, getting lost...etc.) I would use them again in a heartbeat.

done both Seaworld and LEGOLAND. the bus trip to both was painless. comfortable. and clean.. we got in couple of hours after opening due to leaving at 9am. and return leaving time approx. 5pm. there is no tour per say.. you get on the bus , they drive you there, you go in , do your own thing and then get back on the bus to the hotel.. couple of years ago we rented a car and did the zoo, we left early and got there in time for park opening.. the drive was painless, we stay on Katella so its easy onto the freeway.. pretty straight forward run .. we really loved the zoo, and seaworld..

Considering this for Seaworld and Universal Studios when I'm there. Could anyone let me know how much time you got to spend in each park? I may just rent a car so I can spend more time by getting there at opening and leaving later

We are planning to do the LA/Hollywood/Santa Monica Pier tour in June.

Of the three I have done, I liked Sea World the best. We arrived around 10 am, and the bus picked us up @ 5:30. The only thing I didn't do (or think to do) that I should have...is due to the fact you are not there from park open to close, and their shows are on a schedule, research and prioritize / schedule your day that gets you the most of what you want to do. I arrived, got a map and it took me a few moments to get through it and figure out where everything was. By that time I had missed one of the dolphin shows (that I could have made if only I'd done some advance recon)...so then I had to decide which show to see at the next showing (dolphins or orcas) due to overlapping a bit. So, I only got to see one (when I could have seen both if I'd had a battle plan). The zoo, you don't need to do any research, it doesn't matter what time you get to which animal exhibit. Universal, I would think would require planning, to make sure you hit everything you want to. Something I forgot to mention earlier, the bus that brings you back, drops you off back at your hotel. You do not go back to the bus station and switch buses to get back to where you came from.

We used them to go to Universal Studios and it was a great experience. The bus driver told us lots of stories on our trip there and we had plenty of time to see everything. I also love this company because they found our wallet that we lost. Nothing like all your Id and money going missing to put a damper on your trip! They searched the bus and found everything intact. I know it's good business to return missing items but I am still so grateful they were associated with our happy ending. Would definitely use them again.
